Something I love about Luke, Leia, and Han is that before the Skywalker twins reached their mid twenties, the trio shared about three braincells.
I mean, before the Death Star, Leia and Han probably had a respectable amount each (Leia needed to be smart as an up and coming Rebellion leader and Han definitely was clever as a smuggler and conman), but after that first argument in the detention hall in the middle of a desperate firefight that culminated in a dive into the trash compactor, some cosmic alignment of their inner natures mixed with the will of the Force resulted in both of them being brought down to Luke’s level.
Now, over the years, they all became much smarter and better at working together, but right from the death star onwards for the first few years, they shared about three brain cells. Individually, each of the three were in possession of maybe one at all times, and were decently competent on their own. Luke was a great pilot and field commander, Leia was a fine strategist and mission planner and inspirational leader, and Han, of course, was a very competent smooth talker and mechanic, as well as a brilliant pilot. But put them together in a room, or on a mission together, and usually one of them is going to end up with all three brain cells while the others are up on their shit.
Luke usually ends up with the brain cells when Han and Leia are bickering. The slightest thing sets them off, and suddenly Luke is the voice of reason, which she is very much not used to being.
“I thought you said this was a shortcut, not the front doorstep to an Imperial station for the sector.”
“Hey, I’ve slipped through this way a dozen times before, and never had any trouble. You were supposed to be monitoring the base.”
“Oh, sure, captain, blame me for you forgetting there is an imperial outpost over here.”
“ < exasperated sigh> Alright, Chewie, let’s power up the guns, and hope that these two don’t crash into a Star Destroyer.”
When Leia has all three, it’s usually because Han is on some reckless Corellian daredevil kick, and Luke is in adventure crazed teenager living his dream mode and is too focused on his x-wing or his squadron to see the big picture. Both mindsets are often at least indirectly because of the influence of Wedge Antilles and Tycho Celchu.
“Luke, stop fiddling with your X-wing, we have a scouting mission.
“One second land, I’ve almost got the inertial dampeners just where I need them. Wedge and I were talking, and I think if we have these in sync during our next mission, we should be able to reduce drag by 1.56%.”
“You can finish when we get back.”
“ Wait, we’re not taking Rogue Squadron?”
“<sigh> what part of scouting mission did you miss? and where is Han?”
“I think he’s with Wedge and Tycho.“
“Oh no. What laser brain stunt did they dare him to try this time?“
“…Well, they might’ve said something about flying the falcon through the gap of an imperial two communication tower?”
“Kriffing Corellians. And you didn’t think to order Wedge and Tycho to stay away from Han?”
“…Han is good for squadron morale.”
“<sigh>”
And on the disturbingly, frequent occasions were Han is in possession of the brain cells, it is, without fail, because Leia is in full devotion to the cause of the rebellion mode, and Luke is in strange-mystic-Jedi-shit-is-calling-me-and-I-must-answer-the-call mode.
“Hey, princess, are you still on that Agamar campaign?”
“The people of Agamar need our help, Han. I need to figure out a way to neutralize these Golan batteries.”
“Um, sure, OK, but we’re currently on a completely different mission, and I kind of need you to be ready to mail the guns when we get there.”
“Don’t worry about me, I’ll be just fine when we get to Ord Mantell.”
“Ord Mantell? Uh, this is a mission to Taris.”
“What? oh, you’re right, sorry. I’ve just planned so many of our next few missions, I kind of forgot, which one we’re on.”
“… When’s the last time you ate?”
“I’ll eat once I figured out how to bring down these Golan shields.”
“…Hey, Luke? Any chance you could talk her worshipfulness into having some rations? …Kid?”
“ what? oh, sorry, hon, I was reading this account on spirituality by Plo Koon, and I thought I might’ve heard Ben’s voice coming from the engine room.”
“…Ben Kenobi is dead, Luke.”
“I know, Han, but sometimes, I can hear his voice through the Force, guiding me, helping me. I’ve been trying to research why and have been reading these journals Ben had in his home on Tatooine, and…”
“Kid, when’s the last time you ate anything?”
“…, now that you mention it, I’m not sure.”
“…”
Moments like these are frequent until maybe half, and after Endor, these moments become very occasional and much more casual as the trio becomes closer and more accustomed to each other’s quirks.
“I thought you fixed the deflector oscillator before we left!”
“I did! Don’t blame me if the Alliance stuck me with substandard parts.”
“Save it for later, you two, or you’d better let me and Chewie take over while you sort it out. I have a Star Destroyers coming up on our bow, and Zsinj would love to hear that the Falcon was shot down.”
“Fair point, kid. Will discuss this later, princess.”
“Fine by me. I’ll try and get those shields dialed in.”
Or,
“Luke, I need you to come with us. I’m meeting with the Queen of Naboo, and I need you as an escort.”
“Sure, Leia. Let me just finish these adjustments and I’ll be ready to fly. Oh, no X-wing?”
“Not this time. Have you seen Han?”
“I think that he went to help Wedge and Tycho perform reflex tests on the new rogue squadron recruits. They should be down at the gorge.”
“With speed bikes, I presume?”
“I think so, but Han told me to tell you he would be careful. And wear a helmet.”
“Well, I guess that’s something.”
Or,
“Han, give me my data pad, I need to prepare for the meeting with the delegation from Ryloth.”
“The Twi’lek research can wait until you finish your supper, Leia. It’s in the gallery, I made plenty, and don’t come back until you’ve had at least two portions. You need to keep your strength up while you’re helping to build the New Republic. Mon Mothma can’t expect you to do everything without even having a proper meal every now and again.”
“… Can I continue while I eat?”
“Not until you’ve had at least one full plate. <sound of grabbing a holocron> You too, kid. You need to stop making me be the responsible one around here.”
“Han, you know that I can just grab that back from you with the Force?”
“Yeah, and what kind of message would that send to the galaxy about the new Jedi? They go around stealing holocrons instead of just eating their dinner like a normal person? Go on, have some food. I made some Karkan ribenes with tomo-spice.”
And right around the time they start figuring this dynamic out, they start to notice that Chewie is less irritated with the three of them. Little do they know, because, again, three brain cells shared between the three of them, that Chewbacca has been actively trying to loan them any of the hundreds of brain cells he’s accumulated over the course of his 200 year long Wookie life and has been furious with how unresponsive to his wisdom they have been.

The "Jedi no fight in war because that's wroooong" crowd never seem to have anything to say about original trilogy era Jedi fighting in the galactic civil war
"But that's different!" They say
Is it?
The reasons for the Jedi to fight in clone wars are the same as the reasons to fight in the galactic civil war
The separatists: are lead by sith, are an oppressive tyrannical regime, committed multiple genocides/atrocities, and intended to wipe out the Jedi
The empire: are lead by sith, are an oppressive tyrannical regime, committed multiple genocides/atrocities, and intended to wipe out the Jedi
The only thing that makes the empire worse than the separatists is that they're a human supremacist regime
(Also it's never a good idea to sit out a conflict where one side wants your culture/group dead, your neutrality will not save you, it will in fact get you killed)

Star Wars fucked up by not including more wonky rebel technicals.
I hear some of the extended universe has some composite starfighters and such but come on, movies. How rebellious is your rebellion if you aren't bolting a crew-served weapon to a civilian vehicle and wrecking shit with it?
May I suggest:
an E-web riding shotgun in Luke's landspeeder
an ion cannon strapped into the bed of a Toyota Hilux. (the Hilux is future alien tech for the SW universe! )
pod-racer with a dushka pointed out the back, bootlegger-style
sand crawler with an entire firebase of space mortars on top
One of those trash can power droids with a recoilless rifle on its head
They praised Andor for being grittier and more realistic but idk. You can distribute speeches and manifestos all day but you haven't really rebelled until you put a door gun on a commercial vehicle to hose occupying troops.

Well, for the first time in a while I managed to write something!
Years ago, @dingoat told me about some people who RP’d in the Galactic Civil War setting in Star Wars and had ‘Ahuska, the Beastmaster’ as a holovid thing based on what she wrote.
Ever since then, I’ve wanted to write something like that with that as the central theme of the story and I finally did it.
It feels nice to have written something again.

The evacuation of Yavin 4 took place not long after the destruction of the Death Star. The Empire, eager to make the Rebellion pay for their actions, blockaded the Yavin system in preparation for a prolonged assault. The base remained in defiant operation for six months, as the Empire was forced to choose between attacking the base and blockading the system from a surprise attack by the Rebel fleet.

An illustration of an actual line written by a friend of mine. Mind readers canonically have a difficult time with Erick Cartel (purple man over there) because he is 90% impulse, his thoughts are fast and erratic and not fully formed and generally anyone that tries to take a look at it wants to punch him three times more. A skilled telepath could obviously get whatever they want from him, but more average-level mind readers may struggle at first.
Also, he got his ass kicked SO bad after this. His fault for trying to rob a cult full of mass murderers of the information that might help him defeat them, all in broad daylight (well not daylight per se but certainly not attempting to hide).
May as well post this here because you do not want to know how badly this purple motherfucker dominates my brain Jesus Christ.

Part 4 of my Ahsoka Tano series! This is the design from the cover of the Ahsoka novel, which takes place a few years after Order 66. I’m quite pleased with how this one turned out :)
The previous piece from the series (Ahsoka’s TCW season 7 design) is linked below.
Image Description: This is a digital fanart of Ahsoka Tano in her novel cover outfit. She is a young adult in this and wears shades of dark maroon and brown. She is holding her two white lightsabers with a determined look on her face and feet planted. The light blue glow from the lightsabers is visible on her body and clothing. The art is reminiscent of a stained glass, and in the background is a stylized sun with orange, yellow, and pink-ish rays. The sun is behind Ahsoka’s head. The rest of the background is in blue with a purple-ish border. The line work is magenta and gold. End of Image Description.

“Kriffing Fey’lya,”
An explosion twenty meters ahead marks where the AT-ST fire was slightly off, but it still sprays Rex with dirt. He grits his teeth as he tries again to push the chunk of a blasted wall off his chest, but it’s still no good. The permacrete is too heavy for him to budge, at least from this angle.
It was a rookie mistake on his part, getting too close to the wall when the enemy had artillery deployed. Rex must’ve been getting old. That was the only possible explanation for him making such a stupid mistake, the kind of idiotic move that he had dressed down countless shinies for during the Clone Wars. He had gotten too close, and a stray shot from the walker had brought a huge chunk of wall right down on top of him. It wasn’t big enough to crush him, or even seriously injure him, but it was certainly large enough to pin him down under the rubble.
He gritted his teeth once again as he remembered the two fellow Rebels who had noticed him trapped, and tried to help, completely disregarding his orders to abandon him. Didn’t seem to be much good and being a commander if your subordinates ignore orders like that. Rex idly wondered if any of the boys back during the days of the 501st would’ve followed that order, or would’ve been so loyal to their commander, that they stuck around in a vain effort to help and got mowed down, moments later, by a stormtrooper pressing the advance. He truthfully could not remember.
He could hear the trooper’s footsteps growing closer now. The son of a hut who had shot the two men was slowly making his way over, inspecting his kill and making sure that the job was done. From where he lay, Rex was concealed from the troopers view, but if you got to close, he would be completely exposed. He tighten the grip on the DC 17 clutched in his free hand. If the trooper got too close, Rex would have a mere heartbeat to respond before the trooper filled him with blaster bolts. Even now, at his age, such a response was trivial for Rex. The question was not whether or not, he could beat the trooper to the draw, but whether or not the blue blaster fire would attract the attention of the ATST. If it did, Rex would be out of options. His A280 rifle had an explosive launcher attachment, and with precise aim, he might be able to get a thermal detonator through the viewport, but with one arm pinned, his aim was hardly at peak proficiency. And since the rifle had fallen some two meters away, the whole concept was rather academic.
The footsteps stopped, and Rex could hear the plates pressing together as the trooper tensed. At least it wasn’t a clanker that got me, Rex thought. An Imperial walker wasn’t much better, but the difference was important to him. He closed his eyes for a moment as he braced himself. I’m sorry I couldn’t do better, General. I’m sorry I couldn’t finish this fight for you, and for Commander Tano.
Rex’s eyes fly open as he hears the distinctive snap-hiss. The trooped yells and opens fire. He goes silent as a whoosh fills the air. Rex sees a shadow pass over him and hears a thud as the trooper collides against the building behind him. Rex strains to see over the debris. He barely makes out a green glow against the smog before the entire area is illuminated by a bright flash.
The walker steps close, the ground shaking slightly beneath its footsteps. It’s floodlight makes Rex wince for a moment before it points down at something in the middle of the street. Rex sees the cannon flash, hears the explosive impact, and hears the hum of a lightsaber in motion. A dark cloaked figure leaps forth, green blade flashing, and the walker stumbles a moment before tumbling to the ground, its leg severed. The figure holds up the saber defensively as he scans the area for further threats, lowering and closing down the blade as he decides that all is well. He turns a hand toward Rex, and the rubble begins to shift.
Rex gasps with a sensation that has little to do with the relief of this pressure. He thought he recognized the figure when he saw him leap through the air, severing the walker leg with a form that he knew all too well. Until he saw the man lift his burden with the Force, he didn’t dare to hope. Now, he couldn’t stop himself.
“General?” He calls out desperately. “General Skywalker, is that you?” It’s impossible. He knows General Skywalker was killed at the end of the Clone Wars, but somehow, he knows. He knows that Skywalker has returned. Impossible things have happened before, he knows. Commander Tano survived, and apparently, General Kenobi had actually survived, and been hiding for decades before briefly, returning to die on the death star, So why not Skywalker?
The figure steps forward, reaching up to lower his hood. Rex gasps at the young, scarred face looking back at him. This is not Anakin Skywalker, no, this man is far too young. But his features are decidedly similar. Similar enough to be a relative. A son.
“My name is Commander Luke Skywalker,” he says, extending a hand. “I’m here to help you.”
He had heard the name before, everyone in the alliance had, but he hadn’t made the connection. There were plenty of people named Skywalker in the galaxy, after all.
Rex took the hand at once. Something in him said to trust this man. Perhaps it was the distinct features of general Anakin Skywalker, that were just visible, or perhaps it was the innate kindness and compassion that seemed somehow vaguely familiar as well. Perhaps the boy’s mother? Yes, that was it. His mother. Senator Amidala. There was no one else that really could be, not after all those holo calls the general used to steal away any chance he got.
“I’ll take the help,” Rex said as he rose to his feet. “We were able to insert the Bothans, and our retreat should have covered for their entrance. Unfortunately, we took a lot of Flack on the way out.” Rex lowered his gaze. “Lost some good people, I’m afraid. Hopefully, this will all be worth it.”
“You’ve done a great job, Commander,” Luke said, his tone so very reminiscent of Anakin’s when he had praised Rex for a job well done, but it was also gentler, a bit kinder, as though he could see and feel the emotions that Rex was experiencing. Somehow, the impression reminded him of General Kenobi. “Now, we need to get you and your people out. I’m here for your extraction.”
“Surprised that Fey’lya bothered with an extraction plan.” Rex commented.
“Actually, he didn’t,” Luke grimaced as he spoke. “I came here on my own.”
Rex scowled. “Kriffing Fey’lya,” he growled. Then he froze. “Oh, sorry, sir.”
Luke smiled. “You don’t have to apologize to me, Commander. I understand your frustration. The plan was rather ruthless in regards to your team, but that’s why I am here. Just a slight change in the plan, one that Fey’lya won’t really be able to protest.”
“Leave no man behind, eh, sir?.” Rex smiled. “You sound a lot like another Jedi named Skywalker I once knew.”
Luke’s eyes widened. “You knew Anakin Skywalker?”
The sound of footsteps on the permacrete cut off Rex’s reply. There were several footsteps approaching, and by the sound of the clinking armor plates, it sounded like a full squad of storm troopers, at least. Rex drew his second DC 17, not bothering to reach for his discarded A280. fighting alongside another Skywalker? No, he wouldn’t need a rifle. He wanted to fight like he had in the old days, like an ARC trooper. Like he always had alongside Anakin.
“We’ll talk when we get out of this,” Rex said.
Luke nodded. He drew out his lightsaber, igniting the green blade. “I’ll draw their fire.”
“After you, sir.”
Luke smiled. “You don’t need to call me sir, commander. I don’t outrank you.”
“Force of habit, Commander,” Rex replied, his grin widening. Then, on an impulse he couldn’t quite help, he added, “Besides, in my book, experience outranks everything.”

So after Darth Vader finally kills Obi-wan Kenobi on the Death Star, word gets around that Vader has finally achieved one of his long-time ambitions and the imperial officers and troopers in-the-know are like, “Finally, we can focus on keeping order in the Empire and Vader won’t drag us on any of his crazy/pointless/dangerous Jedi hunts again.” Everyone takes a collective sigh of relief.
Then, a couple of years or even months later, Darth Vader holds a staff meeting: “I want to hunt down the rebel leader Luke Skywalker.” “Why?” “Because he blew up the first Death Star.” “Yes, and?” “BECAUSE I SAID SO.”
A couple of officers close to Vader groan internally. Here we go again.
Some of the admirals and generals suspect, rightfully so, that without Tarkin to supervise him, there will be nothing to stop Vader from burning through troops, TIE-fighters, and starships just to pursue this one goal that seems so tangential to the war against the rebellion--never mind how high a rank within the Rebel Alliance Skywalker rises to or how many victories he scores against the Empire (or how the Emperor himself seems to ignore the resources that Vader is wasting chasing this one (1) Rebel pilot).
“What does Vader want with this one rebel so badly?” The tech who carelessly asks that question aloud gets Force-choked.
After a few days and weeks of pursuing Skywalker and the rebels he’s associated with and interrogating EVERY SINGLE REBEL PRISONER about whether or not they know him and where he’s at, it dawns on the Imperial staff that nope, Vader has found another obsession, he’s hunting another Jedi, it’s personal, you can’t keep a good Sith down. “No, we can’t go take down that group of rebel terrorists, Vader wants us looking for Skywalker.” “You want one of your senior officers to persuade Vader to change his mind? Have fun on latrine duty after Vader guts him with his lightsaber.”

one thing I don't understand about the star wars naming conventions especially the name for the war between the Rebels and the Empire is the fact they call it the Galactic Civil War insisted I wish they had called the Galactic Revolutionary War because they are two different factions aren't the same and also one has a bit of a more resources than the other, personally I don't understand it but i would love to hear what you guys think or do you think it makes sense to call it the Galactic Civil war or something else. I feel like the clone wars by definition is more of a civil war because some of the planets that were a part of the Republic seceded and became part of the separatist alliance.

Federation of Allied Systems (Galactic Civil War AU)
The Federation of Allied Systems, more commonly known as the Federation Allies, is the successor state to the Alliance to Restore the Republic, or Rebel Alliance in years following the Battle of Endor and the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.
The Federation was founded in 1 ABE (1 year After the Battle of Endor) by the leaders of the Rebel Alliance and former member states of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, who expressed reluctance in joining “The Alliance to Restore the Republic” as they did not wish to return to the days of corruption and centralized government that had plagued the Galactic Republic in it’s final days. Thus, the Alliance to Restore the Republic was reorganized into the Federation of Allied Systems, openly inviting former Separatist worlds and their sympathizers to join the battle against the Galactic Empire.
The new capital for the Federation was to be the Outer Rim planet of Baroonda, in the Calaron Sector. A tropical world of lush jungles, verdant swamps, sulfur fields, and massive volcanoes, Baroonda was a tourist destination known for hosting the Galactic Podracing Circuit in the time of the Galactic Republic. Baroonda’s planetary government offered their world as the capital for the Federation of Allied Systems in gratitude for the Rebel Alliance’s part in repelling an Imperial incursion into their system some years before the Battle of Hoth. Baroonda would come to host not only the Federation Parliament, but also the new Jedi Order established by Luke Skywalker, who would build his Jedi Temple in the capital city of Baroo.
With the establishment of it’s new government on Baroonda, the Federation Allies began to extend their influence across the Outer Rim, which brought them into conflict with the Hutt Cartels, ultimately compelling them to form an uneasy alliance with the Dominion of Mandalorian Clans, led by former bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Despite the newfound peace and stability on the Outer Rim brought on by the Federation’s efforts, former leaders of the Rebel Alliance never lost sight of their original goal of liberating Coruscant from the Galactic Empire.
However, the Empire had grown in strength following the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. A new Emperor was chosen in the form of Teyrn Caerellius, a former student of Palpatine meant to serve as a puppet in the wake of his death, and a scapegoat in the event of his return.
Unbeknownst to Palpatine, Emperor Caerellius would form an alliance with the fallen Jedi Master Jorrus C’baoth in the months following his death. C’baoth would lead both Caerellius and Grand Admiral Thrawn to Exegol, where the new Emperor worked with C’baoth to sever Darth Sidious’s connection to the Force, rendering his plans to be reborn in a cloned body undone. Grand Admiral Thrawn subsequently destroyed the Sith Temple on Exegol, along with it’s shipyards, bombarding the planet from orbit. The surviving Sith Cultists joined Caerellius and C’baoth in establishing a new Sith Order that would see the Rule of Two abolished, resulting in many new Sith acolytes trained in the way of the Force as it was in the era of the Jedi Civil War under Darth Revan.
With the fall of the Tarkin doctrine coinciding with the Emperor’s death, the Empire began to adapt it’s fleet to better combat the Federation Navy’s formidable starfighter core. Thousands of Venator-Class Cruisers were pulled out of mothballs to be retrofitted and modernized, and now served alongside the Imperator-Class Star Destroyers and remaining Executor-Class Super Star Destroyers.
To augment it’s new fleet of Venator-Class ships, the Empire began mass producing the TIE/HU Hunter Multirole Starfighter to replace the TIE/LN Superiority Fighter, which was relegated to a support role. The TIE/SA Bomber would remain in service, but with a number of modifications under the hood to improve it’s capability against fighters, the newer models were re-designated the TIE/FB Fighter-Bomber. Identical to the TIE/SA on the surface, but functionally superior and more balanced. The TIE/DR Defender and TIE/AD Avenger also entered mass production, though TIE Defenders would be held back to protect critical Imperial worlds and installations (including Coruscant itself) while the TIE Avenger would be reserved as a personal starfighter for naval officers and Sith Warriors, including Emperor Caerellius himself as well as Jorrus C’baoth and Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Meanwhile, the Federation Allies gathered strength in preparation for what they believed would be the final showdown on Coruscant. The Allies augmented their ground forces with modernized artillery from the Clone Wars, including AT-XT walkers, AAT battle tanks, TX-130S Fighter Tanks, as well as the combat speeders and AAC-1 Missile Tanks used during the time of the Rebel Alliance. The Allies also made two new additions to their starfighter fleet with Slayn & Korpil’s new SF-02 “Razorwing” Starfighter, nicknamed the R-Wing (which itself was based on the older V-Wing Airspeeder) which boasted better performance in atmosphere similar to the Empire’s TIE Striker, as well as FreiTek’s E-7 Escort Starfighter, a more expensive but higher-performance alternative to the X-Wing.
The Invasion of Coruscant by the Federation Allies began in 5 ABE, exactly 5 years after the Battle of Endor. To bypass the defensive shields, General Han Solo suggested bringing the fleet out of hyperspace in-atmosphere. However, Grand Admiral Thrawn anticipated this and had the entire 7th Fleet waiting in low atmosphere when the Allies arrived.
Federation ground forces succeeded in landing all throughout the Federal District surrounding the old Senate Chambers, where they clashed with Imperial tanks and walkers. T-47 Airspeeders were employed once against Imperial AT-ATs, as most of the Federation’s starfighter corp were engaged in a colossal furball with the Imperial fleet’s TIEs, and unable to provide close air support for much of the battle. Ground forces would ultimately succeed in bringing down Coruscant’s planetary shield, allowing for reinforcements to arrive.
The Battle of Coruscant would drag on for almost 8 months with massive losses on both sides. The Federation Allies succeeded in driving Imperial forces back into the abandoned Industrial District, where they were lured into a trap. As the Industrial Sector was unoccupied (rendering civilian causalities a non-concern) Grand Admiral Thrawn was able to unleash a full-scale orbital bombardment of Federation ground forces while TIE Defenders drove off Federation starfighters.
While this was occurring, Jedi Masters Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa made one final effort to capture Emperor Caerellius, but were thwarted by Jorrus C’baoth and his own personal guard of Sith Warriors. Though they cut down many of the Sith, Luke and Leia were ultimately overwhelmed and forced to retreat.
The Invasion of Coruscant ended in a humiliating defeat for the Federation Allies, who completely withdrew from the system after 7 months and 3 weeks of brutal warfare on the ground, in the air, and in space. Both sides suffered massive losses, with the Empire losing two of it’s remaining Executor-Class Super Star Destroyers, one of which exploded in orbit while the other crashed into the abandoned Industrial Sector, having been crippled by fleeing Federation ships as they withdrew.
In the aftermath of the failed invasion, Emperor Caerellius sent Grand Admiral Thrawn with the remainder of the 7th Fleet to reclaim territory previously seized by the Federation, starting with the staging ground on Blackmoon that was lost in the months prior to the battle. By 6 ABE, the Federation was driven almost completely from the Core Worlds and had fallen back to the Mid Rim.
In the decade following the Invasion of Coruscant, the Galactic Civil War quickly dissolved into a form of static warfare between the First Galactic Empire and the Federation of Allied Systems. With Coruscant out of it’s reach for the time being, the Federation turned it’s attention inward, solidifying it’s hold over the Outer Rim and stabilizing the government. Luke Skywalker continued to grow the Jedi Order, with thousands of new Jedi joining their ranks with each passing year.
The Sith grew to be as great in number as the Jedi, until in 10 ABE when Jorrus C’baoth ceased open recruiting and declared that any seeking to join the ranks of the Sith would have to prove themselves by killing a Jedi and presenting their lightsaber to him personally as proof the kill. This gave rise to the Sith Prospects, renegade force users and defectors from the Jedi order. Many of them carried lightsabers, and hunted the Jedi relentlessly in the hopes of earning the title of Darth and a place among the Sith. The Delta-7B Aethersprite Starfighter, once used by the Jedi, became popular among the Sith Prospects as a means of transport. Some Sith Prospects would be convinced to turn away from the Dark Side and join the ranks of the Jedi. The increasing availability of lightsaber components and the spread of once-secret Jedi training techniques (helped along by Jorrus C’baoth) caused the number of Force users in the galaxy to surge into the tens of thousands over the course of a decade.
By 15 ABE, the number of Force users in the galaxy between the Jedi and Sith broke a hundred thousand; ten times more than had existed at the beginning of the Clone Wars. The Jedi Enclave on Dantooine was reclaimed by the Jedi Order, along with the ancient Jedi strongholds on Tython and Ossus. Likewise, the Sith would reclaim Korriban, Thule, and Yavin-IV. Emperor Caerellius remained in power and continued to rule over the Empire from the former Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
On Baroonda, Ben Solo- the bastard son of Han Solo and Leia Organa born in 0.9 ABE- was personally trained in the ways of the Force by his mother and uncle, though he was closest with his father and used his surname despite his parents being unwed.
Because his mother and uncle were on the Jedi council, the 14-year old Ben Solo faced much adversity from his fellow padawans. Outside of the temple, Ben proved himself a capable pilot as he took part in Baroonda’s podracing scene, becoming the track favorite for the Baroo Coast, Grabvine Gateway, and Fire Mountain Rally. He was kept out of the Invitational Podracing Circuit by his grandfather’s old rival Sebulba, whose underhanded tactics kept Ben from completing the qualifier for several years.
As the Galactic Civil War dragged on, the Federation made significant gains, including a decisive victory that saw Han Solo’s home planet of Corellia liberated from the Empire in 12 ABE. Three years following this victory, Han Solo announced his retirement from military service. Han and Luke encouraged Leia to likewise retire from Federation Parliament, urging her to fulfill her 15-year old promise to Han to marry him. Leia, torn between her desire to see the war through to it’s end and marrying the man she loved, was ultimately forced to accept the unfortunate truth that the Galactic Civil War would not end within her lifetime.
In 15 ABE, Leia Organa stepped down from Federation Parliament and married Han Solo on Corellia on the 3rd anniversary of the planet’s liberation. Ben Solo, as he’d promised his father years prior, served as Han Solo’s best man. Leia would remain on the Jedi Council and continue to train her son as a Jedi, while devoting more and more of her time to her family over the coming years. In 17 ABE, Ben Solo was knighted after he and his uncle survived an ambush by Sith Prospects on Bespin. He was the youngest of the order to receive the honor.

Notes: This is my own personal headcanon for the events after Return of the Jedi. It’s a reflection of everything I love about Star Wars and what I wanted the post-Endor era to look like when Disney took over the franchise.
I hate how Disney decided to just have the Empire collapse after only a year following the Emperor’s death. It’s stupid and it makes no sense. I’m not a huge fan of the Imperial Remnant from the Expanded Universe either, even though I loved the X-Wing novels as a kid.
In my version of the post-Endor era, the Empire remains strong and is united under a new Emperor, while the Rebel Alliance reforms itself into a more legitimate government with it’s own capital. The planet of Baroonda is taken from the video game Star Wars: Episode I: Racer, and it’s aesthetic seems perfectly suited to the Rebel Alliance and it’s successor, the Federation of Allied Systems. It has a little bit of Yavin-IV, Naboo, Dagobah, Mon Calamari, Mustafar, and Tatooine rolled all into one.
I also decided to bring back podracing, as I’m one of the few Star Wars fans who actually likes podracing and wishes it would come back... which is also part of the reason why I chose Baroonda as the Federation capital. I also thought it would be cool to have the teenage Ben Solo face off against his grandfather’s old rival Sebulba.
The name for the Federation of Allied Systems of course takes inspiration from the “Galactic Federation of Free Alliances” from the old Expanded Universe, but as I never got invested in the post-Yuuzhan Vong era, the similarities (to my knowledge) end there.
