Aw, you're not awkward at all! I'm honored I'm the first person you've requested a story from🥺👉🏻👈🏻💕 I kinda feel weird writing for Will at the moment, still kinda getting over the knowledge that he has a girlfriend now...i'm not jealous i swear😅 *cough*...anyway, so i'm making this Gally if that's okay? I've already gotten a Gally sub request so I thought this could knock out two birds with one stone
Warnings: SMUT (MINORS DNI), kinda sub!Gally, orgasm denial, oral (f and m!receiving), degradation, humiliation (if you squint), biting, femdom kindaa, one singular utterance of the word "mommy"🙈

~~~~~~~~~~
Gally was the least submissive person you had ever known. You wanted to be the dominant one for once, but you never knew how to get him in that space because he never ever did. You had to get clever.
One of Gally’s favorite things to do was eating you out. The boy lived for it. So you thought that maybe taking that away from him for a while would get him desperate enough to submit to you, at least for a little bit.
You had hatched your plan. You had no idea if it would work, but it would have to. You were determined to not give him before he did, you knew you were stubborn enough.
The day was almost over, soon everyone would turn in after work, including Gally. You both had your own separate huts, you had no idea why considering he always snuck into yours almost every night. He practically lived with you. But that was all the more reason you felt comfortable enough to issue this challenge without fear of being stuck with him if it went wrong.
You laid down on your bed, discarding your clothes, your skin prickling with goosebumps from being exposed to the cool air. You were tingling with anticipation, your nipples hardening and perking up, moaning softly as you reached up to pinch them roughly. Running your hands down your curves to reach your mound, spreading your legs and running your fingers through your slicked up folds. You sighed as you rubbed slow and light circles on your aching clit, biting your lip to keep yourself from moaning loudly.
Your heart threatened to beat out of your chest as you heard the faint sound of a door opening and closing. Gally was finally here. You smiled for a second before continuing to pleasure yourself, pretending you didn’t notice him come in.
“Now what do we have here?” You gasped as Gally suddenly appeared in your bedroom door frame, a wide mischievous smirk adorning on his face. “What makes you think you can do this without my permission, huh?” He teased, his eyes darkening as he feasted on the sight of you.
You swallowed, you could do this. “And what makes you think I need your permission?” You responded tremulously, your pussy already responding to Gally’s domineering attitude, his eyes narrowing at your comment. But nope, you weren’t going to give in that easily. You wanted to get your way.
Gally slowly sauntered over to you, but still staying a couple feet away, hovering over you intimidatingly. “Excuse me?” He spoke lowly, an amused smirk playing at the corner of his mouth. “What are you up to, sweetheart? You want me to fuck you rough tonight, huh? I can do that.”
“No.” You quickly said, taking a deep breath. “The opposite actually.” He gave you a confused expression, stepping back as you got up from your bed, looking up at him with sultry eyes. “I want you to be my submissive tonight. I want you to obey my every command like a good boy. Understand?”
Gally looked you up and down before letting out a laugh, causing you to scowl. “Aw baby, it’s cute you think I could do something like that. But no, sorry. I don’t think that’s what you really want. Clearly, you’re trying to get me all riled up so I can fuck you until you beg me to stop. Right?” He took steps towards you and leaned down to kiss you, but you placed a hand on his chest to stop him before he could.
“I’m being serious, Gally.”
“I am too, baby.”
You refused to pout or sulk, you held your head up high as you could, keeping a small smirk on your face. “Have it your way, Gal. Guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.” You turned away from him and put on your overnight clothes.
“Oh, come on.” Gally huffed. “You’re really gonna be this stubborn about this? Seeing you touch yourself like that made me so hard for you, babe. I wanna ravish that pretty pussy of yours.”
“Sounds like a you problem.” You smiled tauntingly, motioning him to leave your hut.
“You really wanna play this game, huh?” Gally smirked. “Fine. I’ll play, cause I know I’m gonna win. In a few days, when you can’t give yourself an orgasm like I can, you’re gonna be on your knees begging for me to fuck you. If you give in now, I won’t tie you up and bring you to the edge just to stop over and over again. Deal?”
You scoffed. “No deal. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve gotta finish what I started.” You blew him a kiss.
Gally frowned. “Game on, sweetheart. Game on.”
It was the first day of this game you started. After having a wonderful night’s sleep after making yourself come a couple times, you woke up with a smile, excited for the day. You hummed to yourself as you got ready for work, greeting everyone you walked by as you headed further into camp. It was perfect timing because you got to work with Gally this week, after some convincing with Vince. You usually cooked with Fry or helped out in medical, but you needed this to happen in order for things to go your way. You were a Builder in the Glade so it worked out.
As you helped saw some wood, you suddenly felt a hand on your hip and warm breath on your neck. “Come to your senses yet, sweetheart?” Gally teased, his grip on you tightening. “Were you even able to make yourself come last night, baby? It must’ve been frustrating.”
You turned around quickly, a prideful smirk on your face. “Actually, I made myself come twice after you left. I enjoyed myself very much, and got excellent sleep too.” You shoved him out of the way so you could leave to get more wood. But Gally grabbed your wrist and pulled you to him.
“Come on, Y/n. Don’t do this. I know you wanna prove a point but it’s no use. You’re never gonna get me to sub.”
You shrugged. “Oh well.” You looked down at your wrist. “Let go, please?”
Gally sighed as he released his grip from you, rolling his eyes as he tried to shift his focus back on work.
You felt Gally’s eyes on you the whole day, frowning or scowling whenever you stole a glance at him. It just made you giggle. You had no problem with getting him frustrated, you knew no matter how far you pushed him, he’d never force you to do anything even if you were teasing him.
It was night and you sat on your bed reading a book, wearing nothing but an oversized shirt. The door to your hut opened and you put down your book, anxious to see if Gally was ready to submit to you yet. He walked in your room with a smug expression. Welp, there goes that hope. “Still continuing this silly game?” He asked.
“I don’t find it silly.” You smirked, spreading your legs to reveal your glistening pussy underneath your extra large shirt, sliding the end of the shirt up your thighs to reveal more. “Frankly, I’m enjoying this more than I thought I would.” You teased your entrance in front of Gally, whose eyes were fixed on your fingers going in and out of your cunt, a tent forming in his pants already.
“Do you wanna be able to walk in the morning?”
“You’re not fucking me, Gally. Not tonight. Not until I get what I want.”
Gally groaned, frowning for the umpteenth time that day. “Seriously? You can’t touch yourself in front of me expecting me not to fuck you? You can’t do this.”
“Watch me, sweetheart.”
Day two and you were starting to believe you actually had a chance of winning this game. Gally looked like a kicked puppy last night. You were surely giving him blue balls by now, but you were still keeping your pussy happy and satisfied every night without him. Honestly, from the looks of it, it was more of a punishment for him than it was for you. You could go without sex, for the sake of a challenge of course. Most of the time, Gally was on you like a dog in heat, so you were pretty positive that you could outlast him.
You almost felt sorry for him as you saw him in the morning. He looked like he hadn’t gotten any sleep, he had bags under his eyes and he looked unkempt. If that was all from a lack of sex, you started to think it was a problem and maybe this was good for him. But he could put all that suffering to an end if he just gave in. Oh well.
“How was your night?” You asked as you sat together during lunch.
Gally scoffed as he picked at his food. “Fine. Yours?”
“Really good.” You smirked, running your finger through your plate and slowly licking the food off your finger while keeping eye contact with Gally, sucking on the digit before releasing it with a pop. “Mm, Fry’s gotten better at cooking, wouldn’t you say?” You jumped slightly as Gally pushed his plate away and stormed off to his hut, rolling your eyes as you followed him after a few minutes.
You entered his hut without knocking, walking into his room to see him jerking himself off on his bed, but stopping as soon as you walked in. “Aw, is someone frustrated?” You giggled. “Please, continue. Don’t let me stop you. I’ve been getting off every night, so you should be too.”
“It…it’s not the same.” He huffed in annoyance, stuffing himself back in his pants. He stood up and walked to you, gently caressing your face. “Please, Y/n, let me fuck you. I’m gonna go crazy if I can’t soon. Let me eat you out at least.”
You smiled sympathetically, leaning up and standing on your tiptoes to give him a passionate kiss, the simple act eliciting a moan from Gally. “Of course you can, baby. But first…get on your knees.” You said as you pulled away.
“What?” He stuttered.
“You heard me. On. Your. Knees.” You smiled sweetly.
Gally groaned loudly, turning away from you and punching a wall. “Fuck sake.”
“I suppose that’s a no then?” You frowned. “Guess I’ll leave you to your business then.” That night Gally didn’t even come to your hut, you were left to yourself and your own fingers yet again.
Two more days passed and Gally had decided he wasn’t even going to talk to you, trying not to even look at you because if he looked at you then he’d get horny and he wouldn’t be able to relieve himself like he would want to. You were doing perfectly though. You were proud of getting work done and you didn’t go a night without being satisfied. It was quite lovely. Though you did start to worry about Gally and…well, his dick. He still looked like he never got sleep which was more concerning. You started to wonder if you should quit this game…
You were almost done reading a book as you heard a knock on your door. Curious who it could’ve been, you put some pajama pants on to cover what your oversized shirt couldn’t. You furrowed your brows when you opened the door to see Gally on the other side. “You didn’t have to knock.” You giggled. “Thought you were someone else.”
“Can I come in?” He asked nervously.
“Uh, yeah, of course.” You allowed him in and shut the door, turning around to see him with tears brimming his eyes. “Baby, what’s wrong?”
“I…I haven’t been able to make myself come…since you stopped letting me have sex with you. Every time I try, no matter how long I jerk off, I can’t fucking come.” He ranted, his fists clenched at his sides. “I need you, baby. I need you to make me come.”
You felt sorry for him, but you still gave him a look that told him you still weren’t going to let up.
Gally sighed shakily, slowly lowering himself to his knees. You almost couldn’t believe your eyes. “Please…” He whispered, looking up at you pitifully.
You smiled softly, leaning down to kiss him, bringing him back up on his feet. “It’s okay, baby. I’m gonna take care of you.” You led him to your bed, slowly lifting up his shirt and almost drooling at this sight of him. “So handsome…Undress me.” You ordered, Gally eagerly lifting up his hands to remove your shirt. “Slowly.” You scolded.
You weren’t wearing a bra, so your tits bounced freely as Gally lifted and removed the shirt, letting out a shaky exhale as he finally saw your breasts for the first time in almost a week. “Fuck, baby…” He breathed as he started to lean down to take one of your nipples into his mouth, but you stopped him.
“Relax. Lay down.” Gally did as you asked reluctantly, huffing silently as he laid down, awaiting your next move. He hummed as you ran your hands up and down his naked torso, kissing down his abs and biting down occasionally, unbuckling his pants and pulling them and his underwear down his legs. His cockhead was a bright red, twitching against his stomach and the tip leaking precum that puddled onto his happy trail. “My poor baby, all this time without being able to relieve yourself? Must’ve been so miserable.” Gally moaned loudly as you licked a stipe up the underside of his cock. Then, a noise you’ve never heard from him escaping his lips, a whimper. You actually made Gally whimper. You chuckled. “You could probably come so easily right now, huh? Want me to do that? Make you come? Want me to drain your cock all night?”
“God, fuck yes.” He panted, his face flushed red almost resembling the tip of his cock.
You took his cock into your mouth, bobbing your head very slowly, making Gally moan pitifully. It wasn’t even a couple minutes of sucking him off that he spilled into your mouth, various curses and groans leaving his mouth as he bucked into you. “Wow, you didn’t last long at all. Bad boy.”
“I-I’m sorry…it just felt so good.”
You hummed in disapproval. “I suppose you could make it up to me. Would you like that? Wanna make me feel good too?” He nodded vigorously, leaning forwards to kiss you roughly but you quickly stopped that. “Lay back down.” You crawled on top of him, making your pussy hover over his face. “You’ve made me so wet, baby. See how wet you’ve made me from obeying me like this?” Gally tried to lean up to taste you, but you kept a knee on his shoulder, making him stay put. “Beg to eat my pussy.”
Gally blinked up at you in surprise. It was weird, usually you were the one to beg him. Oh, how the tables have turned. “Please, Y/n…” He whispered.
“Please, what?” You smirked.
“Please, baby, let me eat you out. I wanna taste you so bad. I need to taste you.” He finally begged and you moaned in pleasure before he even did anything to you. You lowered yourself down onto his face and crying out as he quickly devoured you, licking up and down your folds and focusing his tongue to play at your clit.
“Fuck, Gally.” You moaned, bucking your hips against his face, grabbing onto his hair tightly as you rode him. “Feels so good, baby. You’re making me feel so good.” You groaned as he started teasing your entrance with his tongue, sinking in and making your wall clench around him. “Yes…” You whispered, leaning back to stroke his cock, his moans sending soft vibrations into your pussy. “Getting hard again already?” You chuckled breathlessly. “Poor baby’s been so deprived, huh?"
You gasped loudly as Gally traveled back to your clit, sucking and licking on it mercilessly. You felt those shocks of pleasure shoot throughout your entire body, making you writhe and squirm on his face, allowing your body to give in to this primal force inside you. “Oh fuck, baby. I’m so close. Make me come, make mommy come, baby.” You squealed, riding Gally’s face harder with abandon, desperate to reach that peak.
You finally let out a strangled moan as you came on Gally’s tongue, lightning bolts of euphoria traveling through your veins and causing goosebumps to rise all over your body, your nipples hardening almost painfully as you rode out your orgasm. It was so all encompassing that your vision went hazy for a split second. You then shakily moved off of Gally’s face, a proud smile on his face. “So fucking talented.” You smirked, kissing him, tasting yourself on his lips. “I think you deserve a reward, don’t you think?”
“Please…” He whispered breathlessly.
“That’s a good boy, using your manners.” You saw Gally lick his lips as you hovered over him, lining his cock up with your soaked entrance, groaning loudly as you finally sunk down on him. “I only have one rule: you can fuck me, but don’t touch me, let me ride you.” That made him frown, but his lips quickly formed an o shape as you started to bounce on his dick.
You scowled as you felt Gally’s hands reach up and grope at your breasts, but you quickly slapped them away and pinned them on each side of his head. “What did I fucking say?” You scolded, your angry tone almost scaring yourself, but you put on a dark smile. “Baby? What did I tell you, hm?”
“Not to touch you…”
“Exactly, so why did you disobey me?”
“I just…I needed to feel you, to hold you.” He looked so soft, so vulnerable, you almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
You heard Gally whine as you got off of him, looking at you in hurt curiosity as you grabbed his belt from the floor. “To make sure you don’t disobey me again.” You snapped the belt, making him flinch. “Hands together for me, above your head.” You were almost surprised when he listened to you immediately, allowing you to tie both his hands together with his own belt. “You look so pretty like that.” You chuckled softly, kissing him before sinking back on his cock. “Now, behave, my love.”
“Fuck…” Gally moaned, his hands balled into fists and his head thrown back in pleasure, giving you easy access to bite the sensitive flesh on his neck. “Baby…” He whimpered, unable to stop himself from bucking up into you.
“God, it’s like your cock was made for me.” You moaned as he thrusted up against that special spot inside you, the faintest beginning of another orgasm starting to build in your core. “Fuck, you’re gonna make me come again.” You chuckled breathlessly.
“Let me touch you.” Gally whined. “Please. I need to touch you.” At that point, you were too fucked out to continue being harsh and demanding with him, and you wanted to feel his hands on you too. You unlatched the belt, his hands immediately finding your love handles and squeezing roughly, the bruising pain mixing with the pleasure creating a lovely sensation.
You were mumbling sweet nothings incoherently, your mind clouded due to being on the precipice of another orgasm and Gally was right there with you. Your hands were on his chest, surely leaving bright red scratch marks, but also making sure he stayed put. Gally’s hands traveled all over your body, varying from slapping and kneading your ass, groping your breasts, and holding on to your hips. You squealed when he lowered his hand to rub your clit, amplifying the pleasure, giving you exactly what you needed to finally send you over that edge with him. You looked into each other’s eyes as you came together, your eyes glazing over with tears as Gally’s closed his tightly, spasming beneath you as he released inside you.
You and Gally both let out breathless laughs as you came down from your highs, you pulling off and plopping down beside him on the bed. A part of you thought that this was all a dream, had you actually pulled off turning Gally into a sub? You almost considered pinching yourself, until his laugh from beside you forced you back into reality. “What?” You asked with a somewhat nervous chuckle.
Gally smirked. “Mommy?” He raised an eyebrow and you instantly blushed.
“It just came out…”
“Uh huh.” He snickered before you lightly slapped his arm with a pout. “I’m not judging, thought it was kinda cute.”
You scoffed. “Cute, ha. Yeah, I’ll never say it again. Are you okay though? I wasn’t too rough on you, was I?”
Gally smiled, turning over on his side and giving you a kiss on the tip of your nose. “You were perfect.”
“Did you…like it?”
He pondered for a moment, a light blush dusting his cheeks. “Maybe a bit more than I thought I would. It was very different, obviously. I enjoyed that you enjoyed it, didn’t know you could be so mean.” He teased with a smirk, running a hand up and down your arm. “It was sexy.”
You smiled hopefully. “So does that mean I can dominate you more often?”
Gally rolled his eyes playfully. “Maybe on special occasions.” Then his eyes turned dark, suddenly hovering his body above you, one of his hands gripping your neck gently. “I gotta say, that little game you played this week, you know you’re gonna be paying for that, right?”
You smirked. “That’s also what I was hoping for.”
The world felt as if it were spinning- no coming to a complete stop. Time felt as if it wasn't a thing. You stood there like a complete idiot with a knife to your throat as you looked at the man you had come to love other the past three years. Millions of thoughts were coming to your head as everyone around you was yelling, you couldn't hear a word anyone was saying all you could hear were the thoughts running trough your head.
Did he even love you? If he did, wouldn't he give anything to be with you, give anything to have a normal life with you outside of this damn Glade. You knew the reasons for this, he was scared, so scared that everything else was blurred and blocked out. His feelings for you didn't feel as strong when the fear was much stronger. And at this moment you wanted to hate him, you wanted to yell and scream at him to just listen to everyone. Listen to you. But he wouldn't and everyone including yourself knew this.
Your eyes were filled with tears, your heart was going so fast you thought it would rip out of your chest completely and you felt as if the world was ending. You didn't think you'd ever feel so bad in your life, the feeling was far worse than fear, it was far worse than the many panic attacks you've had over the years, it was much worse than millions of stabs, you'd even prefer the stabs, you'd prefer the panic attacks. For anything was better than this.
The moment his eyes connected with yours you knew you would never see him again, you knew he was gone, he was already a dead man. And even the thought of leaving him behind made you want to throw up. The thought of begging him to come with you came across your mind many times but you knew better than to beg a dead man to leave his graveyard.
His hard eyes softened when he saw the pain in your eyes, he knew you wanted to go with them, he knew you wanted him to go with you, he knew it all. But he couldn't see past that damn fear.
"Let her go," His voice came out soft, softer than anything you've ever heard coming from his lips. Your eyes didn't leave his, not even when you felt the knife slowly drop from your throat. And before you could stop yourself you ran up to Gally, your shaking hands grabbing his neck and pulling his face down to meet yours.
His lips collided with yours and he didn't stop you, instead he dropped his knife and pulled you in closer, kissing you back with so much passion you thought that maybe this would change his mind, you thought for sure he loved you. But this kiss was a goodbye and you both knew this.
You gripped his hair tighter, going onto your toes to get more acses to him making his grip on your waist tight, so tight it hurt, but you didn't care. The hurt was nothing compared to what you felt in your heart. You wanted nothing more than to be in his arms for the rest of your life, and if you would've known that the last time you'd ever see him smile or laugh was that night you wouldn't have ever looked away.
You pulled away from him, your head leaning on his as he gazed into your eyes. Neither of you said anything, for you both already knew what the other wanted to say. You knew you'd never find another like Gally, and you never wanted to ever try to find someone to replace him. He was the one for you, and now. Now you had to leave him here to die. You were in a nightmare and you were just waiting until the morning came so that you could run back into his arms and everything would be fine again. But that was just a dream at this point. A dream you'd never be able to reach.
You felt cold the second you stepped away from his warm embrace. It took everything in you to keep on moving forward, you didn't even dare to look back. You felt a warm hard on your back right as you rejoined the group of teenagers leaving the Glade.
"It'll be okay," Newt whispered as he wiped your wet face.
The rest of it all came in a blur, you barely remember anything from running in the maze to running from Grievers. And soon you were in a room with dead bodies scattered all over, most due to gun shots. You remembered a video and then your world crashed and crumbed right in front of your eyes.
You remember screams and cries, all coming from you. You remember being pulled away from the only dead body you never wanted to see dead, you remember feeling numb. You remember his face, his eyes. They looked as cold and empty as you felt.
~~~
As the months went on you wished you had never left the Glade in the first place, for the world was nothing any of you expected, it was dark, and dead. Everywhere you looked you saw more and more death, you saw how survival was all anyone ever thought about anymore, your small group seemed to be the only ones who cared about friendship and loyalty.
You were surprised you lasted as long as you did without dying, or without getting the flare but in all honesty it was due to your group, you all saved each other over and over, never leaving anyone behind. So when Minho got captured each and everyone of you wanted to go back fro him, and thats exactly what you did.
You got shoved to the side by Newt as a truck passes by, yours eyes follow it when you see there were about five men sat on top all wearing masks. You start to feel a little uneasy when one of the men doesn't look away from you, his head moving to the side as the truck moves further along the road.
You snap your head back to Newt when he starts walking forward, your eyes roam around, seeing so many people in one spot was rare nowadays and you knew this wouldn't end well, WIKD would never allow it get like this and soon they would put a stop to it.
You saw how Thomas walked ahead of all of you, ignoring Jorge when he tried to stop him, you knew this wasn't the best way to get Minho back but none of you had a better plan so you kept on walking, ignoring the strange feeling in your chest that told you something bad was going to happen.
You looked behind you only to see that same man who you saw on the truck, his eyes were covered by the mask so you didn't know weather or not he was even looking at you, but either or it didn't feel right. Something about him made you feel uneasy, maybe it was his height, he towered over everyone it seemed like, and he had a really good build. He was intimating, and the mask made it worse.
Newt seemed to see this too, he pointed another one out to you, and this made the both of you move faster towards the rest of your group. And before you even realized you were all running again with bombs crashing into the ground all around you.
As you were running you saw someone behind you, you didn't think much of it for everyone was trying to get out before being killed but than you felt strong arms warp around your waist and before you could get out of their grasp they pulled you up.
You screamed and tried hitting the man but he was far too strong. Your wide and worried eyes searched for your friends but you didn't see them anywhere, making fear creep into your body. You turned your head to see it was the same masked man you saw on the truck, his eyes were looking stright ahead and before you knew it you were shoved into a van, hitting the floor with a grunt.
You quickly moved to the back wall when the man got in with you. You looked at them with fear laced in your eyes, there were about three men all in masks and just staring at you. Your breath was coming in and out fast, you looked around trying to see if there was a way out but you knew if you tried they would probably shot you dead.
You jumped when the door slid open but relaxed a little when they threw Thomas in. He was yelling at the man but his yells came to deaf ears when the man shut the door in his face, he turned around, his eyes finding your causing him to relax a little.
You both jerked when the Van started moving, and you tried your best to not freak out. What if they were with Wicked? All kinds of horrible thoughts came to mind but they all vanished when the Van stoped.
Thomas tried to fight off the men when they grabbed him and pulled him out. But due to his fighting they just threw him to the ground. You on the other hand, got out of the van by yourself, your eyes glaring daggers at the man who reached to get you out. But by the look you gave him, he backed away from you.
You ripped your gaze off his, the further you walked the more men you saw, all wearing masks, all carrying weapons, all looking like they could kill you without a single thought, or a single care. Thankfully you saw everyone you came here with, but they were all standing in front of the men, this could very well be your end. And Minho would rot in wicked for who knows how long.
Your heart picked up in pace when a man started talking, his voice was deep but it sounded way too familiar. He was the same man you've been seeing since you got in the city, there was something different about him, but you didn't know what exactly it was.
You could feel Thomas getting impatient the more the man spoke. You cursed to yourself when he finally had enough, pushing the man who was behind him and stepping forward. "What do you mean same side! Who the hell are you?"
Everyone went dead silent, and you could feel yourself holding your breath, waiting for the man to give some kind of reaction, a reaction none of you wanted. But he was quiet for far too long. You furrowed your brows when he turned his head, grabbing his mask with his free hand and pulling it over his head. He looked at the ground for maybe 5 second before turning his head to you all.
Your heart dropped to the ground, the air around you felt thick, and you could feel yourself having trouble breathing. Tears came to your eyes in an instant and every sound around you turned off, all you could hear was a faint buzzing and your pounding heart in your chest.
His eyes connected with yours so fast you thought you had gotten whiplash, you could feel everyones eyes on you, not just Gally's and it was making you feel suffocated. You didn't know what to do, or what to feel. You wanted to cry, yell and scream all at the same time, you wanted to run into his arms and hug him until you died but at the same time you wanted to hit him over and over again for the way he hurt you, and make you leave without him.
But before you could even take a step Thomas lunged forward, hitting Gally straight in the face, hard. So hard Gally fell to the ground with Thomas right on top of him. You wanted to move, run towards them and stop Thomas from hurting him but you couldn't move, no matter how hard you tried too.
Thankfully Newt did it for you, running towards the two boys, he fell beside Thomas, grabbing his hand, stopping him from going further. You could see their lips moving but you didn't know what they were saying, you felt as if you were in a dream, floating out of your body, it didn't feel real. Nothing felt real.
Thomas got off him fast, but you could see he was dripping with anger, anger you were slowly starting to feel. Gally got up and off the ground, moving his jaw with his hand before he eyes you again. His gaze softened, his voice dropped in pitch and he looked almost scared.
"Y/N?" Everyone turned to you again, but you didn't even see anyone, all you could see was red as you looked at the boy who was supposed to love you enough to leave with you. But he was a coward then he defiantly was one now.
And before you could stop yourself you moved forward, it all happened so fast as you grabbed the gun for the man behind you, he tried to stop you but you kicked him in the crouch casuing him to fall to the ground.
With the gun in your hands and adrenaline coursing through your veins, you tightened your grip on the firearm, your knuckles white with tension as moved towards Gally who didn't move from where he stood before. He held his head high, his eyes becoming glazed, but he clenched his jaw waiting for you to do what you wanted.
You could hear yelling from everyone behind you, but it was too late. Without a moment's hesitation, you swung the gun with precision, striking him hard across the temple with the back of the weapon. A sickening thud resonated through the air as the force of the blow sent him reeling backward. His eyes widened in shock, then dulled with pain as he crumpled to the floor.
The room fell silent, save for the heavy breaths echoing in the aftermath of the swift blow. You stood over him, chest heaving. The weight of what you had just done settled upon your shoulders, but you pushed it aside, the anger still seeping in your veins when he looked up at you, his nose bleeding.
You didn't know what was going on around you but whatever it was it died down when Gally raised his hand, telling them it was okay. His breathing came in and out harshly, his eyes connected with yours and the same softness still visible.
"You piece of shit," You breathed out, your voice dripping with hurt and rage. "You shouldn't have come back," Tears filled your vision as you remembered what he did, and how he made you feel. You had woken up screaming and crying because of him, and thinking you saw him die right in your arms. But he wasn't dead, and it was messing with your head, he was messing with your head.
"I'm so sorry Y/N," You let out a small cry at the sound of his voice, or the way your name rolled off his tongue. You didn't think you would ever hear him say your name again, and it caused your heart to physically hurt. Your breathing was getting faster and faster the more you let yourself feel the pain, you felt yourself give in slowly.
Tears slipped down your cheeks and you took a step away from him, dropping the gun on the ground in front of you. Gally didn't even waist a second, his eyes connecting with yours as he got up and off the ground, and making his way towards your form.
You gasped when he grabbed you and pulled you into his warm arms. And as he wrapped his arms around you, he could feel you trembling against him, your body shaking with the weight of all the emotions coursing through you. He held you close, his embrace a shelter from the storm of doubt and fear that had plagued you both during your time apart.
Your arms wound tightly around his neck, fingers clutching at the fabric of his uniform as if afraid he might slip away once more. He could feel the dampness of your tears soaking into his shirt.
In that moment, nothing else mattered. Not the passing of time, nor the trials you had faced while you were apart. All that mattered in this moment was the warmth of your bodies pressed together, the rhythm of your hearts beating as one.
And as you held each other, lost in the sweet embrace of reunion, the world faded away around you, leaving only the echo of your love reverberating through the empty spaces between you. It was a moment frozen in time, a testament to the enduring power of your connection, and a promise of the future you would build together, one tender embrace at a time.

Only Yours
(Gally x Reader)
Requested by anon. Hey, remember my Territorial fic? I’ve decided to throw an Uno Reverse card at it. This time, our darling Y/N is the jealous one 😉 Enjoy!
Tumblr media
As much as you loved bonfire nights at the Safe Haven, the new beautiful home you still couldn’t believe was yours, this one was imminently becoming quite… vexing.
Your eyes narrowed into irritated slits, the corner of your bottom lip caught in between your teeth as you observed the scene unfolding before you, the scene you weren’t sure how long you could withstand without crushing your mason jar in between your tensing palms.
You always found Gally incredibly attractive, stupidly so. He was your boyfriend, you could never imagine thinking otherwise. His piercing bluish-green eyes, tall and muscular build, plump lips and freckle-dotted face were all on the list of your biggest weaknesses. Each time his brows furrowed at you in playful banter, every loving grin and every flex of his toned muscles could make your knees wobble and pulse quicken. To you, he was an absolute work of art.
What you hadn’t been prepared for though, was the sudden emergence of other girls that seemed to have similar tastes in male appearances as you.
Newcomers.
Survivors that Vince regularly brought to the island with him from his ventures back into the old world. Most of them were fine, friendly, glad to be alive and eternally grateful for not being left behind to rot. However, among the latest arrival, were a couple of girls around your age. One of whom clearly had a problem with understanding boundaries.
A growling rumble sounded from deep within your throat as you watched her chatting up Gally by the fire. She had intercepted him on his way back to your group and apparently, much to your discontent, was reluctant to let him go.
You could practically hear her obnoxious giggling from where you were standing as she beamed up at him, her eyes raking up and down his burly figure with poorly concealed intrigue.
Having known Gally for almost three years and been together for two of them, you had gotten quite good at reading his body language. You could always easily tell whenever he wanted someone to leave him alone. His shoulders would tense up, his lips would press into a thin line, his arms would cross over his broad chest as he would keep looking to the side, hoping someone or something would come to his aid.
Check, check, check and check, again.
Whatever she was trying to do or make happen, Gally wanted no part of it. He wanted it to end. This was one of those rare instances where he almost regretted becoming a “nicer” person, in comparison to his Glade self. Maybe if he were still that guy, he could’ve just told her to go find someone else to bother and walked away without thinking twice about it or batting an eye. But that wasn’t him anymore, not entirely.
Your jaw clenched as you finally placed your mason jar on a nearby bench with an eerily slow movement, your drink sloshing inside.
If someone was going to come to Gally’s rescue, it was inevitably going to be you.
Meanwhile, Gally was trying his earnest to keep his cool. He wasn’t used to female attention, aside from yours, nor did he care for it. He may not have had too much experience with girls, but he wasn’t dumb or blind. It was obvious this girl was a little too interested in talking to him. And while someone like Minho, for instance, would have reveled in that kind of ego-stroking scenario, Gally was merely annoyed by it. It didn’t feel like a lighthearted conversation with a newcomer, it felt like a nuisance. A fly buzzing around his head that he couldn’t find a way to politely get rid of.
“So anyway, my friend told me she saw you working on a shack on the beach earlier! Are you some kind of builder around here?”
The girl’s high-pitched voice grazed Gally’s ears, momentarily forcing his focus away from searching the crowd for help as he looked back at her, plastering an attempt at a light smile, as best as he could.
“Yeah. You could say that.”
The girl broke into a wide grin, fingers tapping on her mug as she glanced over his tall form once again “That’s so cool! Are you in need of any help?”
Oh, he was. Just not the kind of help she was hinting at.
“Because if you are, I’d be so excited to try! Must be thrilling to make something turn from a pile of wood to-“
“Baby?”
Gally’s heart flipped at the familiar sound of your voice as it called out for him, his head snapping in the direction it was coming from.
Relief coated every nerve in his body, his clenching jaw visibly relaxing as you gingerly pushed through the swarm of people swaying by the fire. Your glimmering eyes that reflected the dancing flames caught his almost pleading gaze, inadvertently bringing a small grin to the corner of his mouth.
He didn’t even notice the way the girl’s face fell as you approached him, one of your slender arms slipping around his powerful torso.
“I’ve been looking for you.” You murmured with a coy smile, deliberately avoiding eye-contact with the source of Gally’s predicament for the moment.
Gally breathed out a chuckle, swinging his heavy arm around your shoulders.
“Sorry, I got held up, this is, uh…” He reluctantly returned his gaze to the girl, quickly realizing that he had already forgotten her name, even though he was positive she had mentioned it.
The girl’s lips twitched with a barely-contained frown “Maddy.”
“Maddy. Right. This is Y/N - my girlfriend.” Gally disclosed, the note of pride lacing his deep voice making you bite back a smirk as he gently pulled you closer into his side.
“Nice to meet you!” You smiled as genuinely as it was possible, which wasn’t an easy task. You didn’t miss the way Maddy’s fingers tightened around her mug, the effort to keep up a friendly facade evident on her features.
“Nice to meet you, too! Sorry, I was just wondering if Gally was… looking to extend the team!”
You hummed, knowing full well that even if he was, a newcomer who evidently was only looking to get closer to him, wouldn’t make it in a million years. Gally seemed to read your mind as his calloused hand trailed down to your waist with a warm squeeze, the small gesture sending a flourish of affection through your senses.
“Oh, I’m sure he’ll let you know if a spot opens up.” You quipped, looking up at your boyfriend as he forced back a snicker at the thought “Sorry to cut this short, but our friends are waiting right over there. You coming?”
Gally was about to open his mouth to respond when, suddenly, his skin heated up under your soft fingertips as they trailed down his cheek in a feathery caress. Before he had a chance to say anything, your arm wrapped around his neck, pulling him down as your lips captured his in a deep, yearning kiss.
Every thought flushed out of his mind as he melted into your soft lips, a quiet hum of satisfaction drowning against your mouth as he returned the kiss with matching vigor, the hand that resided on your waist delivering another firm squeeze.
Figuring the necessary point has been made and not wanting to get carried away right there in front of everyone, you pulled away from Gally’s heavenly lips with a smooth grin.
The red that dusted his cheeks was as prominent as ever as you released a hushed giggle before looking over to the girl that still stood close by, slightly paler in the face than a minute ago.
“We’ll see you around, okay? Enjoy the night!” You chirped, barely registering her response as Gally promptly pulled you away, already heading back to where the rest of your friends were, his arm once again finding its way around your shoulders.
You felt a tingle rush through your body as he leaned down to your ear, his whisper tickling your skin.
“Mind if I ask what that was?”
Your brows propped upwards as you looked up at him, wide-eyes feigning innocence “What do you mean?”
Gally smirked, his piercing, irresistible eyes locking to yours “No, don’t do that. You know what I mean. Not that I’m complaining, but it’s not usually like you to put on a display like that.”
You bit the inside of your cheek, the flickering mischief in Gally’s eyes messing with your attempts to keep up the innocent act. His devilishly handsome smirk was not helping matters either.
“Well, you clearly needed rescuing. I happen to think I did a great job of that. Effective, no?” You grinned up at Gally as he laughed, lowly, pressing his lips to your temple and kissing your hair.
“Very. In more ways than one.”
You rolled your eyes at the cheeky implication, playfully smacking his broad chest as he merely feigned an “ouch”.
“Easy now. Think we can make it through one whole bonfire?”
Gally shrugged, the idea of calling it an early night already bouncing off of the corners of his mind as he responded with a provocative pinch to your hip.
It wasn’t difficult to guess what he meant.
No promises.

•Snippet from Chapter 8 of Project Griever: Council Hall (wattpad: bells_stories)
•ENEMIES TO FRIENDS TO LOVERS
Tumblr media
"Hey I was looking for you." He says I wave bye to Minho and speak.
"Oh yeah? What for?" I say still remebering all the events from today.
"Why didn't you tell me about the Griever thing?"
"I thought Alby told you."
"Well clearly not. I wanted to say that I was sorry for the way I was speaking to you today. I know I can get heated I'm trying to work on it with you." He says and I can tell he's embarrssed because hes looking at the grass.
"Yeah I was going to bring it up but I appreciate you apolgizing Gal." I said and smiled.
"How are you feeling."
"Hm better now. Today was rough I felt everything all at once and it felt like shit. I felt like half of them didn't take me seriously and the other half do but are still wary of me which is so frustrating."
"It'll take time to build their trust."
"and yours." I said and he stopped walking,
"I trust you. I do." He says as if he's convincing himself of his very statement.
"Clearly not or you wouldn't fight me so hard on these things gal."
"I'm trying I am but I spent two and a half years like this you can just expect me to change over night." and he was right, I couldn't. It's hard for me to adapt to this life as it is but imagine being in his shoes everything being the same and then slowly everything starts changing. Your whole reality would get shifted.
"You're right I'm sorry. I noticed you volunteered to go with us though and I'm happy you did Gally. That's a start. I do notice gally, really I do." He smiles at me but now we are at the homestead and he's walking me up the stairs.
"Going to tuck me in again?" I say looking at him playfully.
"Oh I want to do more than that." he says in a husky voice and I feel butterflies in my stomach I opened my door and let him walk through.
"Like what?" I ask looking up at him. He pushes away a strand of my hair and kisses me lightly at first but then he deepens it with such intensity that I gasp and he pulls back.
"Is that okay?"
"more than." I say and I kiss him again. He has his hand tangled up in my hair and gently pulls on it while deepening the kiss, it was full of passion and caring but desire as well. Overwhelming desire. Then he breaks the kiss and looks at me.
"I know you may also have some feelings for the others. I just want to know that I won't hold you back from that." He says playing with my hair. "Just as long as you come back to me."
"always." I say and smile and plant one last kiss on his lips then I take off my shoes and I place the blanket over me. Gally is still there watching me closely and he places a kiss on my head and says
"goodnight yn." and with that he walks out and I sleep peacefully.

“Do you trust me?” Nellie had asked her, holding up the tracking device they had pulled from the Griever's corpse.
Joan looked up at her, her hands still covered in the blood of her friends that she had tried to save but couldn’t, and nodded her head. Whatever was out there had to be better than staying in here.
“I trust you,” she had whispered in return, taking her friend’s other hand and making a break for possible freedom. Only a handful of their group was left, and they all followed them into the labyrinth.
The Maze twisted and turned in seemingly random directions, but Nellie appeared to know exactly where she was going, her eyes focused and her tired face lifted in hope. They came to a bridge, the doors on the other side already opening to reveal a path that lead away from the Maze. The group of girls, Joan included, dared to smile as they jogged across the bridge.
But the smiles all dropped and screams filled the air when Grievers started crawling up the sides of the bridge, grabbing anyone they could get their mechanical claws around. Including Nellie. Joan screamed, pulled with all her might to keep her friend at her side, but she wasn’t strong enough. Nellie was ripped from her and thrown over the side of the bridge, just as the Grievers began to shut down and fall from the bridge themselves.
Through the doors came a group of masked men, wearing dark clothes and carrying guns held aloft and ready to fire, but their guns immediately lowered when they saw Joan trembling alone on the bridge. Tears streamed down her red cheeks, green eyes large and terrified as they approached her.
“We’re with the Right Arm — you’re safe now. Safe from WCKD.”
The truck went over a bump in the desert, stirring Joan from her revery and forcing her back into the present. They were going to another Maze facility, the Right Arm chapter based near the Last City, and as their resident Combat Medic, she had been ordered to go along. Ever since she had been given the order her mind had been wandering back to that day she was saved from her own Maze. All she knew was that she was thankful that they had saved her from that hell, but they had been too late to save any of her friends. To save Nellie.
Joan took those thoughts and crumpled them into a ball, forcing them down into her throat and into a dark place within herself where they would let her focus on the job that needed to be done. It had been nearly a year. She had hoped that the memories would have faded by now. Instead, they were still sharp and dangerous and painful.
Beckett, the man in charge of the mission, turned back from talking to the driver, Alright, we’re almost there gentleman — and Joan. Remember, we’re here to rescue the kids, not destroy the place.”
“But if it happens along the way?” Farley asked from beside Joan, making the other men in the unit chuckle beneath their breath.
“Two birds with one stone I suppose.” Beckett cracked a smile, causing the other men to stomp their feet and holler in excitement.
Joan only betrayed a small smile before she ducked down and did her triple check of her medical bag. IV fluids. Tourniquets. Bandages. Morphine. Gloves. Antiseptic. She hoped that she didn’t have to use any of it. That her role was only a precaution instead of a necessity. But she had a feeling that wasn’t going to be the case on this mission.
The truck came to a sudden halt, and before she knew it Beckett was leading the unit inside the massive WCKD Maze facility. Memories tried to uncrumple themselves and come back into the light, but she forced them back into their corner where they belonged as she ran in through the doors that Farley held open.
All the monitors had been turned off. There was broken glass all over the place. And two bodies lay on the floor.
“Farley, stay with Joan in here, we’re going into the Maze to look for more kids.” Beckett signaled the rest of the unit to follow him further into the darkness.
Joan went into autopilot as she dropped down onto her knees beside the first body she came across. It was a boy no older than thirteen, his eyes still open and a massive red stain covering his shirt. She reached up to check his pulse and wasn’t surprised when she didn’t feel that familiar beat beneath her fingers. Farley looked at her expectantly, only to grimace when she shook her head solemnly. She closed the young boy's eyes before moving onto the next body.
Another boy, with a spear sticking out of his chest. God, what happened here? Joan had to wonder as she rolled him onto his back so she could check his pulse. He was around her age, maybe a little older, with sandy blonde hair and built like a tree. He was handsome in a way she couldn’t quite put her finger on.
Two fingers on his carotid artery she prayed for a pulse, and she gasped when she felt a faint and slow throb where she assumed there would be nothing.
“He’s alive!” she shouted, quickly grabbing her medical kit and taking a further assessment of the damage that had been done to his body as she cut away his shirt with her pair of medical shears.
In the Maze, she had been the medic because somebody had to be, because she was the one unlucky enough to step in when someone hurt themselves the first time. Now it was a choice. A choice to help people in need every day that she loved to make.
He had already bled out quite a bit, but the spear stopped the majority of the blood that was probably building up inside his chest cavity from escaping. He was going to need surgery if he was going to live, but she couldn’t just open him up right there, she didn’t have the equipment for that or the knowledge. From the discoloration of his face and the sweat on his brow, she could assume that he had been stung by one of the Grievers, so he was going to need serum as well.
As she pulled on her gloves she ordered, “Farley, put pressure around the wound.”
“You mean the spear?” The man built akin to a bear dropped down to the floor immediately, and put his hands on the boy’s chest.
“He’ll live — “ she said, more to herself than anything else as she pulled out the one vile of serum she had brought with her, “As long as we get him back to base. He’ll live.”
“Joanie,” Farley said softly, “We’re three days from base.”
She had nearly forgotten.
“Well, we’ll have to make due here then.” She looked up at Farley as she administered the serum, “Are you with me?”
He looked at the young girl, unsure if he really wanted this total stranger’s life in his hands. He was a soldier, not a medic. But Joan couldn’t do this alone, and he didn’t want the kid to die either. So he agreed with a nod of his head.
Joan, on the other hand, hadn’t even stopped to confirm with Farley. She knew she needed to act fast if this was going to work. After injecting him with a dose of morphine for the pain, though she highly doubted he would wake up for at least a few days, she pulled from her bag a scalpel, a ton of bandages, a chest tube, stitching needle, and fishing wire.
She handed Farley a few of the bandages and picked up the scalpel.
“On three you’re gonna take the spear out.”
“I’m gonna what?”
“One — “
“Wait, Joanie, I don’t think — “
“Two — “
“Oh, my God.”
“Three.”
Farley pulled the spear out of the boy’s chest with a grunt and threw it to the side as Joan quickly covered the gaping hole with bandages.
“Put pressure on that. Pressure,” she said as she picked up the scalpel and the chest tube, “Now I have to make an incision between his fourth and fifth ribs in order to get the blood and extra air out of his lungs.”
“What about his heart?” Farley asked, eyes trained on Joan’s steady hands as they drove the scalpel into the boy’s side.
“If the spear had hit his heart he’d be dead.” She inserted the chest tube into the cut she had made and blood began to trickle out of it and onto the floor.
“Now what do we do?” Farley asked.
“We wait for the blood to stop. Then I can close the wound.”
She was finishing the last stitch when the rest of the unit returned from the Maze without any newcomers in tow.
“They’re all gone. Must have been taken to some other facility before we got here,” Beckett explained, his eyes locked on Joan at work, “What about the other one?”
“Didn’t make it,” she replied as she tied off the last stitch on the cut she had made on his side.
“Walter, Jameson — take him outside and bury him. He deserves at least that,” Beckett sighed, “What about this one?”
“He might still live,” she answered as she began packing up her kit, looking up at Beckett with a near pleading look, “As long as we get him back to base as fast as we can so he can get some real treatment. This is a patch job at best. He needs to be opened up and I can’t — can’t do that.”
“Right. Johnson, get the rescue board and load him into the truck. Joan, stay with him.”
The three-day ride back to base was torturous, slow, and touch and go at best. Joan had to constantly monitor his heart rate and breathing, his bandages had to be replaced every few hours, and she was so terrified that he was going to die that she didn’t sleep the entire time. He had to live. She needed him to live. They had been through the same thing, had lived through the Maze and were free, and she wanted him to have that same chance she did. That same chance to finally live instead of survive.
So she held his hand for three days straight, willing him to last just a little bit longer.
As soon as they arrived back at base, the Last City looming over their heads, the boy from the Maze was rushed to the medical wing where an actual doctor could treat his wound. Joan followed dutifully behind him, her eyes blurred from lack of sleep and her hands shaky. The doctor told her to go get some rest as soon as he saw her, but she refused, saying that she needed to see this through to the very end. And so she sat in on the procedure to seal the wound on his lung and remove the rest of the fluids from his chest cavity. It was only when he was resting on a cot in the medical wing that she finally fell asleep. Laying in the spare cot she had pulled up next to his bed.
He didn’t wake up for another four days. And all that time she stayed by his side. Checking his vitals, renewing his IV, replacing his bandages. She only left to eat and help with other patients. Everyone around base knew that it was not her sense of medical duty that kept her with the boy from the Maze, it was far more personal than that. It was the fact that they were one and the same, Joan and this stranger. They both were survivors, they were both immunes. There was no one else in the Right Arm who Joan could relate to, except the boy lying unconscious in the medical wing.
It was bright and early on his fourth day after being brought to base that his eyes slowly peeled open, revealing blue eyes like the sky above. He, of course, immediately tried to sit up and possibly leave where he was lying, but Joan was there to force him back down with a gentle smile.
“Hey, hey, hey, its okay! It’s okay! You’re safe now!” she assured him. Even in his weakened state, she had a hard time fighting back against his strength.
“Safe? What the hell does that mean?” His voice was rough and harsh, it nearly made her flinch.
“You’re out of the Maze — for one thing.” He finally stopped resisting her hands as he finally let her ease him back onto the cot, “And you’re no longer in WCKD’s hands. You’re with the Right Arm — you’re really free.”
“Where’s the others?”
“We don’t know.” She didn’t see the point in lying to him, he seemed like the kind that could tell that she was and would get the truth out of her one way or another, “You were the only one left when we got there.”
“They left me there,” He whispered, his face contorting in pain as he rested his head back on the pillows.
“What’s your name?” she asked.
He glared at her for a moment, wondering if he could really trust her, but he seemed to resolve something to himself before he answered, “Gally.”
“Nice to meet you, Gally. I’m Joan. Are you in pain?” Joan quickly stood up straight and rushed over to the medical supply cabinet by his cot, “I’ll give you a dose of morphine then we can check your vitals.”
He didn’t say anything in return, only continued to stare up at the vaulted church ceilings of the Right Arm base. She gave him the dose through his IV line then grabbed her stethoscope to test his heart and lung function. Pressing the stethoscope to his still shirtless chest, she listened to his heart for a moment, the beat of it strong and healthy in her ears.
“Your heart sounds good.” After helping him sit up against his pillow she moved the instrument to where his lungs would be in his chest cavity and instructed, “I need you to take a deep breath for me.”
He complied after a moment, but seemed to struggle to take in as much air as he used to, his eyes going blurry for a moment before he let out the breath with a huff. He stared up at her calm face for a moment, taking in her soft features and the even softer look in her eyes before mumbling, “Why can’t I breathe?”
“Do you want the long version or the short version?” she asked, but when he didn’t respond she rolled her eyes, “Long version it is then. You were stabbed with a spear. It missed your heart but tore up your left lung pretty bad. When we found you I patched you up as best I could — but it wasn’t till we got back here that the damage to your lung could be addressed.”
“Can we switch to the short version now?”
Joan grinned as she sat back down on the cot beside him, “Fine. In short, you only have one good lung.”
“Joanie!” Beckett’s loud voice suddenly rang out through the nearly empty medical wing, “You were supposed to radio when the kid woke up!”
“Sorry! Sorry! I just wanted to check his vitals first.” She scrambled from the cot, appearing nervous for the first time as she fiddled with the buttons on her long jacket, “Everything looks good. The wounds are healing nicely and his heart is strong.”
“Thank you, Joanie, but I think the kid can speak for himself now. Go check on the other patients while I talk to him — alone.” Beckett rested his hands on the collar of his kevlar vest and watched in bemusement as Joan bristled before turning on her heel and heading across the room. He then looked down at the boy from the Maze, whose eyes remained focused on Joan even from across the room, “Name’s Beckett, second in command around here. What can we call you?”
“Who’s she?” He ignored Beckett’s question, much to his annoyance.
“She’s the girl who saved your life,” Beckett sighed, looking over his shoulder at Joan as she changed another patient’s bandages with a smile, “Didn’t sleep for three days to make sure you didn’t die.”
“Why?”
Beckett scooted the cot closer and took a seat before answering, “She’s like you. We saved her from a Maze nearly a year ago.”
“What do you want with me?”
“How ‘bout you answer one of my questions first,” Beckett said, “What’s your name, kid?”
“Gally.”
“Okay, Gally, you’re here because you have something that Lawrence wants. It’s why Joan’s here too, actually.”
Gally glanced back over at Joan across the room. She had moved on to another patient. One she was talking animatedly with about something as she took their blood pressure. Why had he felt the need to look at her? He knew the answer but hated it just the same. He felt comfortable in her presence. The simple sight of her was familiar and kind in this place where he knew no one. He was left behind by everyone he could ever remember, yet she, a total stranger, stayed awake for three days straight so he wouldn’t die. As far as he was concerned, she was the only one he could trust in this place.
“Who’s Lawrence? And what could we have that he could possibly want?” Gally looked back to Beckett with cold, hard eyes that even made the grown man feel a bit intimidated.
“Lawrence is in charge around here — and you two have what a lot of people around here want. Immunity.” Beckett’s eyes turned dark, “Once you’re fit to move Lawrence wants to meet you.”
Gally swallowed thickly, “The hell’s that supposed to mean?”
“Listen, we’re not the bad guys, kid,” Beckett sighed, gaze back to normal as he stood from the cot, “The bad guys are the ones who kept you in that maze. We’re only trying to help.”
“Sounds like you’re only trying to use me.”
“You’ll feel differently when you meet him.” Beckett smirked as he gave Gally’s shoulder a pat, “See you when you’re better, kid. Bye, Joanie!”
The blonde looked up from where she was cleaning a mess from the floor with a smile and wave to Beckett as he left. Once the mess was clean she went back to Gally with a clean shirt for him to put on.
“Beckett’s a good guy, I promise.” She smiled nervously as she bunched the shirt at the collar to slip it over his head, “Once you get to know him, anyway.”
“I don’t think I wanna get to know him.” Gally winced as he lent forward.
Brows furrowed in contemplation, Joan sat down on the edge of his cot and gently put the shirt over his head and helped him to get his arms through the holes. He was strong, that much was for sure. But his body was also littered with scars. Most were old and faded to white, others were more recent and still pink. He was a boy torn apart and put back together again and again. And she could see that same tearing and breaking clouding his blue eyes.
“Look. No one’s gonna make you stay here against your will. Not Beckett. Not even Lawrence. If you wanna leave, you have every right to. But I will say this about the Right Arm — they give you a chance to be a better person than you were in the Maze. A chance to make up for lost time. A chance to help. WCKD needs to be stopped — and the Right Arm are the only ones doing anything about it.”
“Is that why you stayed? For a second chance?”
Joan looked down at his hand thoughtfully before she took it. His hands were much larger than her own. And even though her hands were not Lilly soft, his were infinitely rougher. Fighter’s hands, maybe even builder’s hands. She could feel him tense when she touched him, but she refused to let go. Knowing just how important touch could be after the Maze.
“I couldn’t save anyone in my Maze. Any of my friends. But here I’ve saved hundreds of people. Helped even more than that. Makes me feel like a human instead of…”
“An animal?” Gally suggested with a tone of understanding he couldn’t fully comprehend.
“Yeah. Exactly.” Joan smiled as she stood from his cot, “Now, get some rest, Gally. Big day tomorrow.”
After helping him lay back down she turned to the cot she’d been sleeping on for the past four nights and gathered her things. A blanket she knitted herself. Her pillow. And a worn hardcover book.
“You read?” Gally asked when he noticed the book held delicately in her hands. Almost like it was sacred. Almost as if he didn’t want her to leave him.
“Yes. I love to read. Aren’t many books around anymore though. Most of them burnt up in the Scorch.” Joan looked down to the cover fondly, tracing her fingers over where the title used to be written in gold, “It’s the only one I’ve got. Bought it from a shady man closer to the city.”
“What book is it?”
“Little Women. I read from it every day.”
Gally hesitated for a moment, questioning his motives as to why he wanted her to stay with him for just a little bit longer, but then he gave in and asked quietly, almost sheepishly, “Would you read it to me?”
“Of course!” Joan immediately dropped back down to the cot and cracked open the book, “I was about halfway through — but I’ll start at the beginning.”
“Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents,” grumbled Jo, lying on the rug …

Second Chance
Gally x Black Female Reader
A/n: I feel like this whole story is a little rushed but it’ll do. I think I did pretty well. As always requests are open and I’d love to hear any feedback from you all.
Masterlist Mega List
The hot water of the shower bouncing off your skin and easing your muscles. The sand that stuck to your sweat washing off easily as the soap washed off your body. Bubbly thoughts clouding your consciousness as you fall into a deep daydream. “Y/n, serious question.” You smiled to him and nod, wanting him to continue. “What do you think of the new greenie?” He looks at you. The starlight, placing a soft glow on his features. “I think he’s confused and brave. Heavy on the confused part though.” He chuckles at you, humming to agree with your words. “Y/n!” You snap out the distant memory. Clearing your throat, you turn off the water and rap the towel around your body. Opening the curtain, you see Teresa and stop in your tracks. Staring into her soul, you push past her and go change. You didn’t have a good feeling about her or this place. Then again good feelings are hard to come by these days. The man that showed you around eyed you differently then the others, maybe you were seeing things but it made something crawl up your spine.
No one else thinks the situation is sketchy but you and you’ll stick by it. Running on the treadmill next to Minho, you looked around for some type of clue to what this place is. It obviously isn’t some kind of sanctuary. The air between you and Minho was kind of awkward but that was because of him. Yeah he did put a spear through your recent ex-boyfriend’s chest but he was infected. What else was he going to do? Talk to him like you tried to do. Looking back on the situation, you often wonder how the others don’t tease you for the ridiculous actions. Trying to talk to an infected, how idiotic of you. You and Minho were going at the same speed, both knowing you can go faster but its kind of hard given nothing is trying to kill you. The blood works was most gruesome for you. It hurt like hell. The others didn’t feel anything but a pinch. Although for you it felt like it was something deeply rooted inside you, as if you had a fear of it before.
Finally, all the tests ceased and you sat with your friends at the lunch table. Poking at the food, you were skeptical. “Y/n, its not poison.” Newt tilts his head in your line of vision and takes a bite of his food. “See.” He says with a mouth of food. Pushing his face away playfully, you crack a little smile. Taking a spoon full, you slowly chew it and swallow. “don’t worry, I know this place is a little off too.” He whispers, reassuring your unspoken speculations. Turning to look at him, you are intrigued on what he will say. “we’ll have to see what happens next.” Nodding to him, you silently agree.
The three dudes in front of you, told you their story of getting rescued. If only that was the case for you. Long useless conversation short, everyone has been here for a matter of days except for the boy in the corner, he’s supposedly been here for a week. Maybe the conversation wasn’t totally useless but it was certainly long. If its a safe haven then why have they just started saving people? It looks like the structure has been up for a long time. These are the questions some of the runners have to ask themselves. It might be the feeling of safety that completely astray’s them from the action but nothing is easily given in this world. Absolutely nothing. The oddest thing here wasn’t the medical team or the dozens of armed men, it was the random calling of people to go to some sort of safe haven. Total crap to you.
Getting assigned to your rooms, you break away from the boys and bunk with some girls. You didn’t know them so you kept to yourself. They offered to take you with them in a plan to escape but you declined, not wanting to leave your fellow runners behind. You wrote this out to them and wished them luck. That night you slept pretty good. Because he was all you could dream about. The way he touched you, kissed you, smiled at you, talked, laughed and loved you. Sometimes you regret what you said to him and you do wonder if he ever felt the same. What you would do to get to say “I love you” to him one last time.
Walking in your designated area to meet up with your friends, visions of him crept into your mind and haunted you. Looking to the side you could have sworn he was there, but then again how could you be so sure? This place is daunting, the secrets it holds that give you the shivers. At this point you could care less what your friends thought of you, mentally you cannot take being here anymore. Your body softly collides with another, in an attempt to stop yourself from crashing into them. You bumped into Janson, the person in charge is what everyone assumes. “Hey, watch where you’re going. Be careful.” You nod to him and he leaves. When you got to the table it seemed like Thomas came to his senses. Preaching to the table about his encounter with Harris last night.
If only you could speak. If only you could find the strength in your trauma infected mind to utter a word. All you could do is watch as Thomas tried to push past a guard. Sometimes you wonder what goes on in his head and by the looks of it Newt wonders too. But all actions are for a reason and later on you find out that it was all for a key card, which played a part in your ground breaking escape. You and Minho were unsurprisingly the only ones who grabbed a bag of supplies before leaving the compound. Luckily you got a gun and two rounds of bullets. Keeping it with you all the way to the right hand. Or what you thought was the right hand. Your face says all as you dangle by your feet. “Don’t give us that look. You came too.” Newt says and you simply roll your eyes.
Performing massive sit ups to grab your ankles. Steadily, you take the knife out your shoe and begin to cut your rope. Only cutting half way. Dropping down gives you momentum, you continue to swing your upper body until your whole body is swinging. Listening to the rope closely, its about to rip off. Putting all your energy into the last two swings, the rope rips off and you grab onto the railing. The blood rushing back into your body, making you slightly dizzy and one of your hands losing its grip. Looking down, your nerves kick in, helping you pull yourself up and release your idiots of a friend group. When Gally told you everyone’s not your friend you didn’t believe him then, but now you see what he means. One organization destroyed, demolished because of one girl. A girl that you didn’t like from the beginning.
You all began to slowly build up the organization once again. Relocating and planning. You were chilling in the corner when they came back from their rescue mission. Creating ruckus as per usual, it did eventually get calmed down. The radio alerted them that WICKED was close, quickly you help turn the lights off and stay still. Turning on the lights, they fix the small argument and you pull Thomas aside. Looking at him you try to find a way to express your thoughts to him in a small amount of words. “Be patient. We have the cure.” You say lowly to him. He looks at everything we helped built and nods. “I’ll try.” He turns to leave but you grab his shoulder giving him a look then letting him go. Rolling your eyes, you go to your quarters. Walking through the open hall, you turn the corner and open your room door. Passing the first bed then collapsing on yours. You huff and lay your whole body on the bed, kicking off your shoes in the process. Getting comfortable on the bed as you relax, you doze off.
“Gally?” You peek your head around the corner where Alby and Gally talked. He hums in response. “Can I talk to you for a moment?” He looks back to Alby and Alby gives him a nod, taking his leave. “Sure, what is it?” He says motioning you to come up to him, trading places with Alby. “I have a bad feeling about her…Teresa.” His brows furrow as he takes in what you’re saying to him. “I-It’s not because she’s a girl, I just have a bad gut feeling about her. But I don’t want to seem weird. I didn’t know who else to tell. Maybe I’m just being paranoid-” He puts his hands on your shoulders instantly calming your hyper nerves. “Calm down.” He says in a firstly manner and you nod. “If you have a feeling, you stick to it. Okay?” You slowly nod and quicken as you become sure of yourself. “I have a bad feeling about her too.” He whispers to you as he looks around making sure no one else is there.
Turning over your eyes continuously flutter open then closed, your mind was fighting with the starry night of reality and the concrete walls of dreadful memory. “Why shouldn’t I run out those gates right now?!” You yell quietly to him, trying not to let the remainder of the glades hear you. “You and I both know that will solve nothing. It’s the greenie’s fault!” You roll your eyes at him. “Greenie this! Greenie that! Did you ever stop and think that maybe we should’ve been trying to escape instead of making a home here? I stayed after I mapped out the maze because you wanted me to. Hell! I even thought about having a family here.” His eyes widen. “What?” You nodded your head and continued. “But here isn’t the place for a family. Here is not the place to raise a child! I for one realize that now. So, you’re either coming with me or I’m leaving you.” His fists clenched at his sides. “You’re leaving me, huh. Leaving me here or in general?” He takes a few steps forward.
“You pick. I’m not being with someone who likes being stuck in a cage.” You look him in the eyes. “Fine.” Your eyebrows scrunch together. “Fine!” Turning to leave, he grabs your shoulder. “Y/n, did you ever love me at all?” You take offense to the question and spin back around. “Did I ever love you? Is that even a question. Yes, I do. Your point?” He shakes his head. “If you loved me, you’d stay. You’d see where I’m coming from and you’d agree.” You roll your eyes. “You are so closed minded, Gally! The least you can do is love me and leave me but no, you have to manipulate me too. I am fed up of this! I wanna see the outside! I’m tired of day in and day out seeing fucking concrete! I know a way out and I’m sticking to it! Now, are you coming or not!?” He lets go of your shoulder. “I’m not coming with you. I’m not going to risk my life with a bunch of idiots like you. And on a hunch at that!”
“You are such a fucking joke! Can’t you just open your eyes for once and see that its not safe here. Please. Gally I don’t want to leave you. I want us to make it out.” You reach for his hand but he slaps it away. “No, y/n! I’m not coming with you. You were talking so big but now look at you so small. A griever will eat that up.” You scoff. “Fuck you!” You slap him in the face. “Right back at you. I’m not gonna stop you. Go get killed for all I care.” That was your breaking point. All those nights when you were scared about dying in the maze meant nothing to him. When he reassured you that nothing would happen to you and if anything he’d jump in the maze to find you, meant nothing. This engulfed your thoughts like wildfire. “I hate you. I hate you! You’re so damn selfish!” You hit him in the chest multiple times, tears unwillingly falling down your cheeks. In the silence, you held on tightly to his shirt as your head hung down. As his hands grabbed onto yours, you released his shirt and pushed him away. You were clearly hurting, your eyes puffy, tears non-stop flowing. You knew what you should’ve said but you refrained from saying it.
Completely waking up, you curl up to hug yourself. “I love you, gally…” You say, nothing above a whisper for only you to hear. Sitting up, you wipe the sweat off your forehead. Brenda stood a few steps from the bed, probably planned on waking you up. “I’m ok.” You hesitate, before she could’ve said anything and she was shocked. You could tell she wanted to console you but you don’t want anyones’ sympathy, it’ll just make you cry. Her eyes go wide as she watched you put on your shoes and leave the room. Sighing as you run your hand through your braids. It was a break of character for sure. You pulled it together for the day ahead. Heading to the wreaked city to get help making your way past the walls to rescue Minho. Somehow, they managed to get you all kidnapped. “Kick the door, you take left and I’ll take the right.” You nod to Winston, adrenaline pumping from the take down of the two guards in the van. Gun in hand, the van comes to a stop and you follow his lead. But he didn’t just kick the door he launched himself at it. Knocking over a man that was opening the door but you still backed him up nonetheless.
You froze when your eyes locked, even with your gun pointed directly at him. The others stepped out the van and their voices muffled in the background. At the same time you both looked away and he defused the debacle. Situating the group and voicing your reasons for being here in the first place, it came time to sleep. Sitting peacefully in Thomas and Newts room, you massage your forehead. “Well? Are you going to talk to him?” You shrug to Thomas. As if on queue someone knocks on the door and you all share a look. Opening the door, Gally stands before you. “Let me talk to you.” You sigh and leave with him. Walking down a hall, you enter his room. Sitting on a chair, he leans on a table next to you. “You’re not going to say anything.” He says quietly. “No reaction? No nothing?” You exaggerate a huff at his questions. “What I said was in the heat of the moment. I didn’t mean it.” That triggered you. “yes…you did.” You hesitate your words but look him in the eyes. “it came from deep down.” You push him in the stomach. “I was afraid. I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to leave, so I needed to say something to keep you even if it scared you. But it did the opposite and I should’ve known better. I regret it.” He kneels down in front of you.
“When I was recovering, all I could think about were the words I said to you last. That’s not how I wanted things to end.” Looking down to him choked you up. Biting back tears, you sobbed finally letting them fall. “I don’t hate you. I’m sorry.” You say between breaths while wiping the tears. “I know. Its my fault, you were right.” He lifts you out the chair to hug you. Shoving your head into his chest, you return the hug. “w-when I saw you…with the spear in your chest I felt, so sick. I felt like I couldn’t breathe.” You get the words out that you’ve been holding in for so long. Pondering the 3 words in the back of your head that you know you should say as you look up to him. “I love y-“ Its crazy how you both were thinking the same thing, talking over each other accidentally. “I love you, Gally.” You exclaim, wholeheartedly. Opening his mouth to respond, he closes them and closes his eyes. You watched as he leaned down, kissing you. Parting his lips slightly for a sweet lip-lock. “I love you too, y/n.” He utters against your lips. “I won’t leave you ever again. No more fighting, we’ll work things out.” You squeeze onto him tighter. “Your hunch, was it right?” He leans to the side to see your face. “Hunch? Teresa.” You show visual distaste. “yeah, it was right.” You sigh, your words coming back to you slowly.
Sitting you down with him on the chair, Gally asks more questions. “How come you stopped talking? If you want to tell me.” You smile to his words. “every time I tried to speak after I saw you I felt so sick. so I stopped. In my mind I was feeling responsible and guilty for that.” You sigh, rubbing your hands together and a tear unknowingly running down your cheek. Wiping the tear away for you, he speaks. “Can I tell you something?” You nod, adjusting yourself in his lap. “I went into the maze because I chose to, don’t feel guilty because of what I decided to do. Y/n, I want to leave the maze behind. We’re out and you’re okay, that’s what matters to me.” You hum, agreeing. “I’d like to leave it behind too.” You went through with the mission to save Minho. Mission accomplished including mass destruction but you counted it as karma so it doesn’t matter. The plan to the island worked, enough people gathered and the boat was ready. Gally had a spot on the island with you and everyone knew it. A lifetime of suffering finally put to an end. Now all that was left to do was live.
“where should I put these?” You ask Gally as you enter your cozy living space. He was looking over a few things outside the home. “On the bed is fine, it’ll be cold tonight.” Doing as told, you set them down and climb into bed, already in your pajamas. “Do you think that here is a good place to raise a kid?” He watched as your eyes went wide before he turned off the light. You both recently started having sex again, you couldn’t pin point where it came from. It hit you as he laid next to you, what you said to him all that time ago. “Yes it is. Why? Are you trying to impregnate me?” You put a little teasing in your tone. “Not unless you want me too.” He rubs on your stomach and flips you over to spoon you. “Give it 2 years, when everything is settled and set in stone.” You tell him and he kisses your cheek, smiling into it. “2 years and I’ll get my baby.” You chuckle at him. Your eyes growing heavy and your body relaxed as you fall asleep. Two years passed by so fast and that was the intention. All the construction for the housing finally finished and other buildings were almost done. What better time to start parenthood than now. You were going to tell Gally but you‘re sure he’s been counting down the days since you told him.
“Its been two years.” He says, looking over all the things built as you sit together on your porch. “I realized.” You fight a laugh, knowing where this’ll lead. “The house is done and we have a second room.” He turns to you. “Yes, we can try for a baby.” You make good with your promise, giving him confirmation with what he’s been egging at. He smiles from ear to ear, a rare sight even for you. Bringing you inside, he locks the door and closes the curtains for ultimate privacy. “So, how do you want to do this? Make love?” The corner of your lip curves at his eagerness. “I don’t want to fuck to make a kid. I mean we can but not for the first time we try. Show me why you love me.” As you spoke, he was coming towards you and on instinct you backed up. Inevitably hitting a wall. “I can do that. No problem.”

hey! i just came over from tiktok, could you possibly do a gally x reader where he tries to act tough around all of the guys but (y/n) starts teasing about how sweet he actually is and he has to try and defend himself but gets all flustered over it, but can’t get mad at (y/n) cause he’s got that fat crush on her? (fem pronouns possibly please?)
Not So Tough
Pairing: Gally x fem!reader
Description: Gally has a hard exterior, but secretly melts when y/n is around.
Warnings: smooching, glade slang, idk just a lot of fluff, gally being a bit of a jerk
Words: 651
Prompt: Grumpy x Sunshine Trope
A/N: It lowkey ends kinda abruptly but OH WELL HERE YA GO
“Gally, would you please stop yelling at the rest of the builders and actually start building?” Newt called from the gardens.
“No can do, I gotta make sure everyone stays in line, that’s why you put me in charge of the builders, remember?” Gally called back, yelping soon after when one of the newer gladers dropped a piece of wood on his head. “You shank! Look what you’ve done! Dropping klunk all over the place, you should be sent to the slammer!”
“Gally, is that really any way to talk to the new guy?” Y/n jogged up to Gally from the med-jack hut where she was just supervising Clint and Jeff. Y/n was somewhat of a floater when it came to jobs. When they were testing what jobs she was good at, she was nearly good at every single one. Well, except for the slicers. Poor Winston nearly scared the girl half to death when he first came out with a machete.
“I uh- Well he dripped- I mean dropped that shucking piece of wood on me an-” Gally stammered.
“Gally, c’mon give the guy a break, he’s only been here a week,” Y/n said with a soft smile.
“Look, I’m just trying to do my job, gotta make sure everything gets done, right?” Gally said, seeming to regain his composure.
“And it will get done, you can just be a little nicer about it through,” Y/n said, placing a hand on Gally’s arm and running her fingers down his bicep.
Gally blushed. Y/n was playing him like a fiddle and she knew damn well what she was doing.
“I’ll see you at supper?” Y/n said.
“You know you’re the only one that calls it that, right? It’s dinner,” Gally snorted.
“Oh shut it, you know you love me,” Y/n said before turning over her shoulder and walking away, not before giving Gally one last smile. Gally stood there for a moment, not sure what to do with himself.
“Oi, Gally, what were you saying about making sure things get done?” Newt called, snickering to Alby.
“Oh slim it,” Gally growled. “No- you can’t hammer that in, there’s not a screw to hold it together!” He turned his attention to the Greenie.
___
“Hey big guy, not interested in tackling anyone to the ground tonight?” Y/n’s voice came from above Gally.
“No, not tonight, gonna try to go to sleep early,” Gally said, getting up and trying his best to avoid y/n. But before he could leave, y/n grabbed his wrist.
“Wait- did today really bother you?” She asked, furrowing her brow.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Gally broke away from her grip and tried to escape again, but she was too quick for him. She grabbed his arm again.
“You know what I’m talking about. I didn’t think it would bother you, I thought you would actually like it, y’know considering I was flirting with you.” Gally’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
“Oh my god,” Y/n laughed. “Wasn’t it obvious?”
“Kinda hard to pay attention to that when things need to get done,” Gally cleared his throat, trying his hardest to hide the smile that was forming on his face.
“Oh don’t act like you weren’t blushing the whole time you- oh my god you’re even blushing right now!” She laughed.
“Shh, no I’m not,” Gally smiled back at her, the blush returning to his cheeks.
“You are! Gally’s blushing! Gally’s blu-” Y/n called when she was cut off.
Gally’s lips crashed into hers as his hand moved to her cheeks. Y/n closed her eyes and sunk into the kiss, bringing her arms around his neck. When Gally pulled away first, y/n smiled.
“What was that for?” She breathed.
“To shut you up,” Gally smiled. He looked to her lips and back to her eyes. “And also because I’ve wanted to do that for a while.”

~~~~~~~~~~
It was yet another noisy day in the Safe Haven. Buildings were being built, food was being cooked, people were talking and laughing.
But your head was just not in it for some reason.
Minho had told a funny joke and everyone laughed, but all you could manage was a chuckle. It was unlike you, especially around your friends. Your boyfriend, Gally, was always quick to notice how you were feeling, sometimes even before you knew yourself. Just one look from him was all it took for you to know that he realized you weren’t having fun, causing a crease in his brow to form.
“What’s got you down, babe?” Gally gently pushed his shoulder against yours, the water in the cup he was holding sloshing around with the sudden movement.
You sighed wistfully, slightly shrugging. “Don’t know, woke up on the wrong side of the bed?” Gally smirked, knowing fully well that was not true, but you lightly swatted his shoulder with an eyeroll. “Maybe it’s just one of those days?”
Gally frowned. “I’m sorry, baby.” He kissed your temple. Yeah, it was just like that sometimes. Everyone had their days where past memories just seem to sneak up on them out of nowhere. It could be debilitating, especially when there was work to be done. It felt like there just wasn’t time for bad days anymore. “Hey, it’s a really pretty day out. Why don’t you go take a walk or something? Clear your head? Or try to, at least.”
You nodded, offering a small smile. “I’ll do that. Be back soon, love you.” You quickly placed a chaste kiss on his lips, your smile growing when you lightly pinched your side before you left.
It was one of those rare days on the island where the temperature wasn’t too scalding, a cool breeze from the ocean fanning out and flowing through the Haven and into the trees beyond the beach, making a whistling noise that whisked past your ears.
Journeying through the path that was made through the woods a while ago by the workers, you soon heard a noise that wasn’t the builders, wasn’t the wind, wasn’t the ocean. It was foreign to you, yet familiar, like it was a sound you should have known but had forgotten. It was high pitched and squeaky, you thought of birds but you knew it would’ve sounded too different. You intently followed the noise, trying to find the source. It was getting closer and closer until you heard a hiss. Snakes? No, can’t be.
You yelped as you suddenly felt a sharp burning on your leg, recoiling back and seeing tiny claw marks. Looking for the culprit, you almost immediately melted. A cat. That’s what it was. You had a vague memory of them from before, but you never saw one in person.
It made the hissing sound again, its ears flattened back and its fur sticking up. It was scared, but it had nothing to be scared of, definitely not from you. It was so cute though, you had the primal urge to pet it, but that would just get you bitten.
You slowly lowered yourself to the ground, trying to make yourself as non threatening as possible. “It’s okay, little one.” You spoke softly, extending your hand a tiny bit and making kissing noises. “I’m not gonna hurt you.”
The cat eyed you, its ears pointed and its tail thrashed, trying to figure you out. It slowly walked towards you, sniffing your fingers, its teeth lightly grazing you. It meowed, and the sound almost made you implode. “May I pet you?” You asked in a high pitched voice, trying not to awe out loud when the cat nuzzled you. “Oh…my…god.” You whispered excitedly, slowly petting the cat’s head until it moved closer to rub itself against your leg, gently licking the wound it created. Were you the chosen one?
Now, you weren’t too knowledgeable about animals other than farm animals, but even then you were pretty sure none of them would have tried to lead you somewhere but that’s what this cat seemed to be doing. It was like something that only happened in fairytales, and you were sure as shit that you weren’t in a fairytale. But you followed the feline anyway.
As if you couldn’t get any weaker from cuteness, you followed the kitty to find out that she was a momma kitty, leading you to her litter of kittens that was the source of the squeaking earlier. You had to stop yourself from squealing. There were five of them, all cuddled up together and they were so small, almost like they were just born. They looked so fragile, but the momma cat seemed to be alright with you petting them.
The cat meowed at you again, gently pulling one of her kittens by the back of the neck and bringing it to you. Did she want you to bring them back to camp? You didn’t have to be asked twice.
You took off your jacket, gathering all the kittens and carefully picking them up, making sure they weren’t going to fall. The momma cat followed you closely as you walked back to camp, keeping a close eye on you as well.
You were wearing a large grin on your face as you walked back into camp, quickly calling over everyone and anyone that was nearby. “Look what I found in the woods!” You called out, beckoning over your friends and boyfriend.
Minho squealed uncharastically, immediately picking up one of the kittens gently. “Dude, they’re so cute!” He smiled, snuggling the tiny creature.
“Looks like that walk did you good, huh?” Gally chuckled, keeping a short distance away but still leaning to get a look at the cats.
“I mean, we have to keep them, right? They were all alone out there and it didn’t seem right to just leave them.”
“Does anyone even know how to take care of cats?” Minho asked, “I’m all for keeping them though.”
“Guess we’ll take it one day at a time?”
“Where do we keep them?”
“I’ll keep them in my hut for now.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” Gally joined in the conversation, “why do we have to keep them? Why can’t Minho take them since he seems so smitten?”
“I don’t know what to do with cats, man.” Minho snapped.
“Gal, it’s fine. We can figure it out.” You gave him a reassuring smile.
Gally frowned. “I don’t know…”
“Good thing you’re not the boss of me.” You shrugged, carefully taking back the kitten Minho held onto and walked to your hut with Gally trailed behind. “Do you not like cats or something?” You asked, placing all the kittens on the floor next to your bed.
“No, it’s not that I don’t like them. It’s just another responsibility I don’t have time for. But feel free to let these things take up all your time, I’m sure Vince won’t have any issues with that.”
For creatures so small, they sure did take a lot of time and energy to keep them all safe and alive. You figured out their needs pretty quickly. You talked to other people at camp and a lot were interested in helping you out with taking care of them, especially Minho. The kittens got big pretty quickly, and they were weaned off their mother.
Gally seemed pretty indifferent towards the cats, much to your dismay. He never even tried to bond with them, and he was annoyed that he didn’t have you all to himself anymore. But as the kittens grew older and didn’t need constant attention anymore, he loosened up a little. You could tell he was happy when the kittens went to new homes. You did keep one kitten, while the momma cat was everyone’s really, roaming around the Haven whenever she pleased.
Gally was reluctant to keep one of the kittens, but he had no choice in the matter. You were absolutely in love with yours, having it always by your side even when you slept, treating it like it was your own child in a way. You always had a nice chuckle whenever the kitten tried to nuzzle up to Gally, only for him to get really uncomfortable and give you pleading looks until you took the cat away.
It was only a couple months later when you came back to your hut one day, not finding your kitty or Gally. Finally searching your bedroom is where you found both of them, and it was the sweetest sight.
Gally was taking a nap on your bed, laying on his back with your cat laying right on top of him. He had fallen asleep petting the cat, his hand still tangled in its fur. You could hear its purring from the doorframe. You wished you could take a picture of the moment.
You slowly crawled on your bed, careful not to wake Gally, laying beside him and nuzzling up to his side while taking your hand to join his on your cat. You smiled as he instinctively moved to wrap his arm around you, turning on his side, ultimately moving the cat to be sandwiched between the two of you. “Hey, baby…” Gally whispered sleepily.
“Hi there.” You giggled.
“What’s so funny, hm?”
“Oh nothing, just thought you didn’t like cats and yet I found you here cuddling with mine.” You pet the purring cat in between you and Gally, its eyes closing to go back to sleep.
Gally blushed as he looked down to see the cat, rolling his eyes as he fought off a smile. “Okay, I admit it. It grew on me a bit.” He huffed, allowing himself to pet the cat alongside you. “But you tell anyone, I’ll throw this cat out.”
You raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing him.
“Okay, I wouldn’t do that, but at least don’t tell Minho. He’s become a crazy cat lady and he’d never let me live it down.”
You laughed softly. “Fine, fine. But can you admit that you love this cat now?”
“Don’t push it now.”
Gally (TMR) x Reader
Tumblr media
Death cure based with major spoilers.
You and gally were together back in the maze. It's been 3 years since he "died"
This is very long, but there is smut at the end 😜
As I stare at the masked man, I can't help but recognise him, well obviously not his face because he's wearing a gas mask, but I recognise his posture, his body language, just generally the vibes he's giving off, and it reminds me all too much of Gally.
But that's impossible, Gally died, I watched him die. I let him die.
As the van we were forced into goes over a small bump, it annoys me only more.
"Sit there all mysterious then." I grumble as I cross my arms and glare at the three of them.
"Are you guys just gonna sit there all mysterious, or are you gonna take those stupid masks off?" I spit at the three masked men, mainly aiming it at the one that resembles Gally, and Thomas and Brenda turn to me and let out small laughs whilst the masked men stay silent and continue to stare at the three off us.
Once we were let go from the vans, Jorge stumbles out of one of them, pinning down one of the masked men and hitting him across the face repeatedly.
"Where is she!?" He screams as I walk around him to reach newt, I know it's bad to have a favourite best friend, but Newt and Brenda are most definitely mine. He was there for me whilst I coped with Gallys death, and he never scolded me for grieving an "asshole" but gally wasn't an asshole, he was just misunderstood, I understood him though, and he understood me.
"Who are you?" Thomas asks as I wrap newts arm around mine and drag him to stand beside Thomas.
"Don't worry, we're all on the same side." The man says, and although his voice is muffled, it sounds like Gallys voice.
"What do you mean, all on the same side? Who are you?" Thomas quizzes, and suddenly the man takes his mask off, and my jaw drops.
"Hey, greenie." Gally says with a small smile, and my knees feel weak as I go to stumble backwards, but Newt quickly catches me, and in the few moments my eyes leave gally, Thomas has him on the floor hitting him.
"Frypan, hold y/n." Newt says, and frypan quickly holds my arm as Brenda clears her throat.
"I'm so confused. Who is he?" Brenda asks frypan and he shakes his head.
"My boyfriend." I gasp, and Brenda turns her head to stare at me, and I just shrug.
"An old friend from our maze." He tells her and I shake my head.
Once Newt has dragged Thomas off gally, I stare at him and he smiles at me.
"Hi y/n." He laughs, and I push frypan off of me and run to gally, pulling him in a tight hug as the tears begin to stream from my eyes.
"I thought you were dead." I cry as my arms tighten around his neck as his arms slowly make their way around my waist, and I just take a deep breath, taking in his new all too familiar but also unfamiliar scent.
"Without saying goodbye to you? Never." He whispers, and I just laugh before I remove my arms from his neck and cup his face with my hands.
"Holy shit it's actually you." I gasp as I stare at his face, it's been three years since I last saw gally, and as much as he's changed physically by shaving his hair, putting on more muscles, growing taller and well obviously aging, he's still the boy I met all those years ago in the glade.
"It's you too." He laughs before I roll my eyes and kiss him, and he kisses back before Brenda claps, and I awkwardly pull away from gally and stand beside him, facing my friends as Brenda smiles and shoots me a small thumbs up, she's heard every single detail about Gally and I, she heard every detail about gally himself probably over a thousand times, to the point where she said it feels as if she knows him personally.
"Why are you guys here anyway? Wckd is after you lot, like majorly." Gally asks as he looks at Thomas with his eyebrows raised slightly.
"We need to get into Wckd. They have Minho." Thomas answers and gally lets out a small laugh.
"Do you know how dangerous that is?" Gally asks and Thomas furrows his eyebrows.
"Look gally, can you help us or not? We need to get back to our camp soon, and if you're not helping us, then we're leaving." Thomas states, and I grab gallys hand and glare at Thomas, in a way that says,'I'm not leaving him.' And Thomas rolls his eyes slightly, but I just shrug him off as I turn my head to stare at gally with a smile and all the feelings come flooding back, all the feelings from when I was just a silly girl who didn't know anything, now I'm still a silly girl who knows quite alot after everything I've been through.
"Fine." Gally says as he grabs my hand and drags me deeper into wherever we are, Thomas and everyone else following us.
"After the maze, I got picked up by a group headed to the city." Gally tells us, as he's now at the front of the group, and I'm now walking with Brenda, still smiling at the fact my boyfriend is alive..
"They realised I was immune, patched me up, then brought me here. Lawrence. This group has been at war with Wckd ever since they took control over the city, but wckd couldn't hide behind those walls forever." He continued and I stare at him, Thomas or newts head ocasionally getting in the way but I don't care, even just being in his presence is enough to keep me smiling.
"The days gonna come, and they're gonna pay for what they've done." He finishes before he turns around to stare at the group.
"Listen. He doesn't get a lot of visitors, so let me do the talking, alright?" Gally asks, and we all nod.
"And try not to stare." He then adds which makes me scrunch my nose in confusion but we all follow him into the room anyways.
The room is a beautiful room filled with all types of flowers.
"Gally, glad to see you made it back. Jester told me what happened." The man exclaims as gally sets his gun down and walks towards the man.
"It was a slaughter. There was nothing we could do against those guns." Gally tells him as his hands reach up and sit on his vest, his fingers sliding underneath.
"No, but they can only poke a hornet nest for so long before they get stung." The man whispers as he raises a red rose to his nose and smells it, as Brenda, Newt and I all shoot each other a small 'what the fuck?' Look.
"Who are these people? Why are they here." The man asks, or more demands.
"we need to get into Wckd." Thomas says as he steps forward, ruining gallys full 'let me do the talking' rule, which makes me glare at him slightly.
Don't get me wrong, I love Thomas, but he thinks he's the leader of the group. All he thinks about is Teresa, really, Brenda is so clearly head over heels for him, but all he talks about is Teresa.
"Gally said you could get us through the walls." Thomas then adds and Gally just stares at him, clearly slightly annoyed.
"Gally should know better than to keep promises he can't keep." The man says, and I let out a small laugh, but I quickly stop myself before anyone turns to look at me.
"Besides, that wall is only half your problem." The man continues as he grabs the rack that is pumping something into him as he begins to walk to us.
"Getting inside wckd is impossible." He finishes and gally shakes his head.
"There might be a way now, but it doesn't work without Thomas." Gally announces.
"Is that so? You know what I am, Thomas? I am a businessman." The man says, leaning close into Thomas' face to whisper those last words
"Which means that I don't take unnecessary risks, why should I trust you?" The man asks and Thomas just stares at him.
"Because I can help you. You see if you can get me through those walls I can get you what you want." Thomas says and I turn to Brenda confused but she just shrugs her shoulders.
"So what is it that you think I need?" The man quizzes.
"Time, every last drop." Thomas states and the man turns his head to the side almost as if he's laughing.
"Is that something we both need?" The man sneers, and Thomas just continues to stare at him, almost as if he's staring through him.
"Wckd is something we both want." Thomas tells him, and he man just nods.
"I'll tell you what, two can go for now, the rest stay down here with me. Just a little insurance to make sure you'll find your way back." He tells Thomas and everyone in the group look at each other and shrug.
"Do we have a deal?" The man asks Thomas as he extends his hand for Thomas to shake, which he does, and he man just smirks.
"Gally show them the way." The man then says before gally quickly shoos us all out of the room and shows us the entrance to Wckd, which is a literal sewer drain,and I stare at gally with a smile as he lowers a ladder down into the drain, I quickly crouch on the floor next to him as he drops to the floor ready to climb down.
"Gally, take care of these two." Frypan says and gally just nods.
"Yeah." He says before he looks at me.
"Stay safe, don't get lost or hurt." I warn him and he smiles.
"Cmon y/n, you know me." He says before he kisses me and begins to descend down the ladder, and I smile and watch him go down, smiling to hide the nerves.
As one of the now non masked men lead Brenda and I into a room, he stands at the door with his arms crossed.
"This is where you'll be sleeping whilst you stay here." He says before he slams the door and leaves, and Brenda throws herself onto one of the single beds, me copying her actions.
"I can't believe I finally got to meet Gally." She says with a small laugh.
"You can't believe it!? I thought he was dead! I watched him die." I tell her with an even larger laugh and she just nods.
"You must really love him if when you saw him, you still knew the love for him was there." Brenda tells me and I just smile.
"The love for him never left, I had plenty of opportunities to find someone else, like when I was captured by Wckd there was a few boys who showed interest in me but I couldn't stop thinking about gally, in the glade I thought i loved him, but when I lost him that's when I realised I did love him." I quietly say, and she just stares at me, but then shakes her head.
"But, you thought he was dead, so why didn't you move on?" She quizzes and I shrug.
"I asked myself that almost every day, but a part of me knew he wasn't dead no matter how bizarre it sounded to say out loud." I tell her and she just smiles widely.
"I'm really happy you've got him back y/n, I could see how much you loved him when you spoke about him." She tells me with a genuine smile on her face.
"Even with him back, it doesn't mean I won't spend time with you. You're still my best friend, Brenda, you know that. You know i love you." I tell her, and she laughs.
"I love you too, not as much as I love Thomas, though." She says and I just laugh
As we sit around the table with paper spread all over it, Thomas shakes his head.
"Nope, there's got to be another way in." He says and gally laughs.
"But how? You've seen the building, she is our only way in." Gally states as I stare at him.
"You really think she's gonna help us?" Thomas asks but my gaze then falls on newt who looks as anxious as ever as he plays with his fingers.
"I don't plan on asking for her permission." Gally laughs and Brenda clears her throat.
"Am I missing something? This is the same girl who betrayed us, correct? Same dick?" She scoffs and gally looks at her with a smile.
"I like her." He tells us as he points at Brenda before he looks at me and smiles.
"What's going on?" Brenda quizzes as she looks at Thomas, and I can see the anger growing on newts face, somethings wrong with him, I can tell.
"What are you afraid that your little girlfriends gonna get hurt? Hmm?" Newt growls as he stares at Thomas through knitted eyebrows.
"This has obviously never just been about rescuing minho." He continues and I nod my head.
"Exactly." I agree, but nobody listens apart from gally who just chuckles.
"Who are you talking about?" Thomas asks as he approaches newt, who quickly slides off his chair so him and Thomas are both at eyelevel with each other.
"Teresa." He spits as if her name was poison.
"I mean, she's the reason Minhos even missing in the first place, and now we finally have the opportunity to get him back, and you don't want you because of her?" Newt asks as he's walking directly into Thomas, so Thomas has been pressed against the wall. If a deaf person was watching this play out, they'd definitely think that something else was going on here.
"Because keep down inside of you. Do you still care about her? Just admit it." Newt grumbles.
"Newt, no." Thomas answers and Newt grabs both of Thomas' shoulders and pins him tight against the wall.
"Don't lie to me!" He screams.
"Don't lie to me." He then spits and Brenda and I slap a hand over our mouths in usion, each for different reasons.
She did it out of shock, I'm doing it because I'm trying not to laugh.
Newt quickly steps back and shakes his head.
"Sorry." He mumbles.
"Sorry." He then says as he turns to face us all, and I remove my hand from my mouth and stand up from my chair and quickly approach him.
"Are you alright?" I ask and he just stares at me before he walks out, and I turn to everyone in the room, mainly pointing at Thomas though.
"I'm gonna go speak to him, I'll be back in a minute, alright?" I say to the group and everyone nods before I follow newt, quickly realising he's heading for the roof, and as I follow him I watch as he sits down and dangles his leg off of the building, clutching his right hand with his left.
"Newt, what's wrong?" I ask as I slowly sit next to him, my words coming out gentle, as I don't want to startle him. He says nothing and instead pulls up his right sleeve, revealing black veins, which you only get if you have the flare.
"I should've told you sooner." He mumbles, and as I stare at his veins, I feel tears brimming my eyes, but I quickly blink them away as i smile at him, trying to act fine even though inside I was breaking.
"No, no, newt, it's okay." I say as I grab his left hand in mine and give it a gentle squeeze.
"I'm happy you told me now." I say and he just nods at me.
"We're gonna get you the cure, okay? You're gonna be alright." I whisper, and he sadly smiles as he blinks away his own tears.
"Can you get Thomas, please?" He asks, and I nod but pull him into a tight hug.
"I really love you newt, you're my best friend, keep fighting for me, I'll get you better." I say as I stand up and run downstairs back to where everyone is and tell Thomas that newt wants him, and once Thomas is far enough away, I burst down into tears, nobody knowing why until I tell them.
"He'll be fine y/n, you know newt. He's a fighter." Gally says as he pulls me into a tight hug, his hand on top of my head as he gently plays with my hair.
"We're gonna get him the cure when we get into Wckd." Brenda calls before her, frypan and jorge all join in on the hug, which makes me let out a sad laugh as I hold onto them all.
Once I've calmed down, gally just grabs my face and stares at me, like I did when I first saw him again.
"I've missed your stupid face." He says with a large smile, and I just glare at him.
"I miss your hair." I cry as I stand on my tip-toes to feel at his now bald head which makes him scoff.
"It'll grow back." He remarks, and I sigh as I then burst out laughing.
"Actually, I think I prefer this hair." I state before Gally pulls me into a kiss, making frypan gag.
"Can you guys make out somewhere else!?" He screams before Thomas quickly runs in.
"I'm going into Wckd, gally you need to come with me, were getting Teresa." He states, and just like that, gallys gone.
Only an hour later, we all stand in front of Teresa, gally Ripping the bag off of her head as we all glare at her.
"gally?" She gasps but gally quickly quiets her by talking.
"Here's how this is gonna go. We're gonna ask you some questions, and you're gonna tell us exactly what we need to know. Well, start off simple. Where's minho?" Gally asks as he grabs a chair and slams it backwards in front of Teresa so that the back of the chair is facing her as he harshly sits down on it and throws his arms over the backrest.
"You guys seriously don't think -" She says as her eyes fall past gally and onto Thomas, which makes gally laugh.
"Don't look at him? Why are you looking at him? Look at me. He's not gonna help you. We know you have minho in the building. Where?" Gally demands, and I let out a quiet gasp as my knees feel weak when I hear how demanding gally now is.
"he's with the others we're holding. At level three." Teresa answers.
"How many are there?" Newt asks, and Teresa gulps.
"twenty eight." She tells us, and we all turn around to Brenda as she plays with cards.
"I can make that work." She tells us happily with a smile.
"No, no, you guys don't understand the whole level is restricted. You can't get in without a thumbprint ID." Teresa states, and Thomas stares at her.
"That's why you're gonna come with us." Thomas tells her, and I stand up from where I'm sitting and grab the scalpel that's on the table and begin walking towards Teresa.
"Well, I don't know. You don't necessarily need her, right? Not all of her. We just need her finger." I sneer, an evil smile growing on my face as I almost pass gally, but he holds an arm out, so I bump into it, him signalling I'm taking it too far.
"y/n back off." Thomas warns from behind me, and I turn to him and glare.
"What are you squeamish? I guarantee you she's done much worse to minho." I question, and he points a threatening finger at me.
"Not the plan back off." He warns yet again, and I groan and give gallys shoulder a comforting squeeze before I walk back to the table and hand Thomas the scalpel.
"it won't make a difference. Do whatever you want to me. You still won't get through the front door. The sensors will pick you up." Teresa says, now clearly panicking after the scalpel comments I made.
"we know. We're tagged, property of wckd. You're gonna help us with that, too." Thomas says as he holds up the scalpel.
As I sit on the chair in front of Teresa as she pulls my shirt down at the back of my neck, her fingers carefully graze my skin.
"Try to relax. This is gonna sting." She says slowly before gally walks over and gives me a warm smile before crouching on the floor in front of me.
"I don't want to see you flinch. You're my tough girl y/n remember." He says with a smile, and I nod, I remember.
As I run out of the maze, tears pouring from my eyes as I grab tightly onto minhos shoulder, trying my hardest to make it as far away from the maze doors as I can before I collapse, when i was running back from in the maze my leg got caught in one of the walls as it begun to move, i pulled it out but my ankle got caught and the wall got caught in it, making my ankle make the most deafening crunch noise you'll ever hear, and my scream got minhos attention as he spirited back and pulled my ankle free of the wall, and when I try to put my ankle on the floor I can't do it, so this is how minho has ended up carrying me back to the glade.
"HELP! Someone get Clint and Jeff!" Minho screams as he sets me on the floor, out of breath from running whilst practically carrying me.
Gally must've heard minhos cries for help, because he sprints over and falls to the floor next to me and when he looks at my ankle he gasps, and he's not even a medjack so it must be bad.
"Y/n, y/n, don't cry. You're my tough girl I don't want to see you cry." Gally warns as he presses a kiss to my head.
I'm snapped out of my memory with Teresa handing me a tissue.
"That's you done." She says, and I nod and get off the chair, allowing gally to climb on it as I sit on the floor like he done with me as I use one of my hands to dab the blood off of my neck using the tissue.
"How are you alive, gally? We watched you die." Teresa asks as she focuses on cutting his neck.
"I wish I knew." Gally says flatly as he reaches out one of his hands to cup my chin, lifting my face only slightly so he can stare at me, which causes me to smile and blush.
"I'm happy you two have each other again." She then adds and I laugh.
"We never lost each other." I say and gally begins to smile again.
When we all get ready for our plan, I smile at everyone.
"We're gonna kick Wckds ass." I exclaim as I do a small happy jump which causes frypan to laugh.
"Y/n, I've never seen you so happy to basically go on a death wish mission." He tells me with a smile and I shake my head.
"Nono, they're going on the deathwish mission, brenda and I are being the drivers." I say as I motion to Gally, newt, and Thomas with a smile.
As Brenda and I sneak our way into the carpark and climb on a bus, I stare around looking for any Wckd workers, but as of right now there's none so I smile slightly.
"Why did we agree to this?" I ask with a small laugh, and Brenda gives me the 'you know why' look and I just stare at her confused, I really don't know why.
"I just thought that if Thomas saw me doing something this brave, then he might actually like me." She sighs and I gasp.
"Thomas should like you anyway! You don't need to risk your life to be good enough for some boy." I state, and she shoots me a thankful smile.
"I wish that was true." She whispers and I shake my head.
"Brenda, you're already the bravest girl I know, you survived the fucking flare for god sake! That's braver than this." I tell her as I grab her shoulders and shake her.
"You're braver than me." She argues, and I shake my head yet again.
"It's not a competition, Brenda. If Thomas doesn't like you for you, then he's not worth it." I say as I give her shoulder a tight squeeze and she then smiles widely at me.
Minutes later, gallys voice rings through the walkie-talkie, asking where we are, and instantly, as he turns the corner, he almost runs face first into our bus, which causes me to laugh.
"Come on let's go!" I exclaim as Brenda opens the doors and the kids begin running in.
As I run to the other door and open it, I stare at gally confused.
"Where's Thomas?" I quiz and he stares at me confused.
"I was hoping he was with you." Gally says and I quickly step out of the bus, but gally grabs me and pushes me back in.
"No y/n, stay with the kids, wait here. I'll find him." He promises, and I just stare at gally, but quickly pull him into a kiss, which makes a few of the kids giggle before I break the kiss.
"Just wait for us, okay." Gally says as he pulls his mask down and then runs off.
I quickly climb on the bus as panic fills my stomach, I can't help but to think that something is gonna go wrong.
"Everyone, alright?" I ask as I turn to all the kids in the bus who just stare at me but all nod.
"I'm y/n, my friend who'll drive the bus is Brenda, were not a part of wckd and were here to take you somewhere safe, alright?" I ask, and all the kids cheer before Brenda gasps.
"Get down!" She exclaims, and I drop to the floor, all of the kids ducking in their seats.
"Stay quiet." She whispers, and i crawl next to her and watch carefully as armed guards approach the bus.
"Sorry, Thomas." I hear her say before she quickly jumps in her seat, me coping her because I know she's about to drive and i don't want to fly to the back of the bus.
As the bus starts, she screams to everyone to hold on as she begins to drive, bursting through barricades as she navigates the city seats, Wckd cars now driving behind us.
"We're fucked!" I yell as I let out large fits of laughter whilst all the kids behind us scream extremely loud.
"You'll all be alright! Just hang on!" I scream to them as Brenda continues to swerve and drive around.
"Jorge is a shit driving instructor." I tell her through large laughs.
"Oh yeah? Didn't he teach you how to drive too!?" She asks, and I just nod.
But whilst we're driving, Wckd cars behind flying at us from all angles and Brenda swerves the car, and now I'm panicking aswell as the kids, but we come to a stop on the middle of the road, and Brenda exits rhe car whilst I stay with the kids.
"We're gonna be alright guys, this is our plan." I tell them all, and they just let out worried cries and whimpers.
Our plan is set in motion once Brenda let's off her flare and connects the rod to our bus and screams to everyone to hold onto something, seconds before the bus is lifted into the air, dangling by the front as we crash into buildings and spin around.
But my laughing comes to a hault when I realise that the rod is slowly but surely Ripping the bumper off of the bus, meaning we're going to fall.
As we all begin screaming and crying, frypan quickly drops us, which sends us hurdling to the ground, but we don't actually fit the ground until the rod fully rips the bumper off of the bus, and the bus lands on the backdoors, until it tips forward and Brenda and I quickly motion for all of the kids to climb out and follow us, but first we had to wait on frypan.
Once we run back to Lawrence's lair thing, we run around trying to find everyone, but nobody is there.
"Where is everyone?" Frypan quizzes before him and Brenda take off in a sprint, leaving me with all the kids, I love taking care of kids, I think kids are funny.
"Is everyone alright?" I ask as I turn to stare at them, and they all nod.
"Thank you for saving us." The youngest boy of them all says, and I stare at him and smile. He reminds me of Chuck.
"Nobody deserves to go through what they put you through." I tell him with a large smile as I crouch down to his size, and he laughs and hugs me, which almost makes me cry as I hug back.
As we pull the kids into the main part, Thomas begins to talk through the walkie-talkie, but she's too far for any of us to hear, so I divert my attention to the kids again.
"Our safe space, is gonna be perfect. Much better than anything Wckd had." I promise as I look at all of them.
"Really?" A girl asks and I nod.
"Mhm, so much better, and you guys can help with building it. You can design your own rooms and pick who you want to share a room with. It's completely up to you." I say, and they all clap and cheer, clearly excited for this promised safe haven I'm talking about, and I hope it'll be as good as I'm making it sound.
"Will you be sharing a room with that boy you were kissing?" A different girl asks with a small 'oooo' rising from all of the other kids.
"Maybe, if he doesn't annoy me." I tell them and they all laugh.
"I used to share a room with him, well more of a hammock, and he always used to steal the blanket from me during the night so I'd wake up freezing." I groan and all the kids continue to laugh.
"Did you get them back!?" One gasps and I nod.
"I pushed him out of the hammock and took all of the blanket for myself." I answer.
Suddenly, I hear an aircraft outside and I run to check it out with Brenda and Frypan, and I realise Jorge has brought our ride, and all the kids quickly run out after us running inside, where we see Vince, and once we've flown near the tunnel we fall back down to the ground waiting for everyone to come, but they don't. So we all run out of the aircraft to see the Wckd city getting burned down.
"We can't stay here Brenda." Jorge states as he turns to her.
"Don't worry, they'll be here." She argues as she shakes her head.
Only seconds later, I hear Teresa's voice ring through the speakers, and I'm practically sick hearing her talk. Even though she helped us get into wckd, I hate her, I don't even listen to what she has to say. I just block her out.
As we get back into the aircraft I play around with the vial of the cure around with my hands, being careful not to drop it, when minho and gally run at the aircraft.
"Where's the serum!?" Minho yells, and I hold it up in my hands, and I instantly know what I have to do, I instantly begin running through the Wckd city, missing bullets only merely and jumping through fire as tears stream down my face, I need to get this back to newt, even if it kills me in the process.
As I twist and turn through alleys and different streets being so close to them, my ankle begins to hurt, as in the ankle I hurt four years ago by now, but I push through it, only to turn the corner and see newt, dead on the floor, Thomas crouched over him.
"No!" I scream as the tears begin to pour harder as I sprint to newts side, dropping to my knees on the floor as I cup newts face with one hand and shake his shoulder with the other.
Thomas says nothing as he stands up and walks away, giving me time to give newt the serum, but it doesn't work. He doesn't wake up and laugh, he doesn't even blink.
"Newt no, please. Please!" I scream as frypan, gally, minho and Brenda surround us.
"Y/n, he's gone." Brenda says from behind me, and I shake my head.
"No please! He's not gone the serum just hasn't kicked in yet." I cry as I continue to shake him.
"Newt, it's me y/n. Please wake up, please." I beg, although it's obvious he's dead, but it was also obvious gally was dead, so why can't newt come back too.
"Y/n, come on we need to go." Minho says through his own tears.
"No, I can't leave him here. What if he wakes up!?" I exclaim, my sadness now turning into anger towards everyone.
"You know he won't y/n, he's dead." Brenda says from behind me.
"He's not fucking dead!" I scream as I continue to shake him, my tears blinding me as everything continues to go blurry, as I feel my body being hoisted up off of the floor.
"Y/N, if we don't go, we're going to be burned alive." Gally says sternly as he throws me over his shoulder.
"Gally, please, no! I can't just leave him here!" I scream as I begin to thresh against gallys hold, but he's too strong.
"Y/n, it's okay." Brenda coos and I shake my head.
"No! You're all sick. You're leaving him here to be killed!" I scream, but I feel someone hit me over the head with something and everything goes black.
When I open my eyes, the room is so painfully bright that I let out a small groan as I shield my eyes from the light as I sit up and take in my surroundings.
"Y/n?" I hear Brenda say from beside me as she begins to stir from a sleep. And I turn my head to the side and see her sitting up and rubbing her eyes, and I realise I'm in a hospital room.
"Where am I?" I ask and she smiles and reaches out to grab my hand.
"We're in the safe haven y/n." She tells me with a large smile, and I just nod before she quickly stands up.
"I should go tell gally you're awake." She says before she runs out, leaving me questioning why my stomach is all bandaged.
When gally walks in, his eyes light up when he sees me.
"Y/n, are you alright?" He gasps as he quickly runs and sits on the edge of the hospital bed, pulling me into a hug whilst being careful of my stomach.
"What happened to my stomach?" I ask as I hug back.
"When you were running to give newt the serum, you got shot. We all noticed, but somehow, you didn't. Your adrenaline was too high. So when you were screaming over newt, making your heart race, it was pumping more blood out, but you still didn't realise." He tells me and I just stare at him and nod.
"I didn't want to knock you out, but I had to. Otherwise, you would've died due to blood loss, im sorry." He frantically tells me, and I sit up and rest my head on his shoulders.
"You saved me gally." I whisper before I gasp, which hurts my stomach, but I shake it off.
"So we're at the safe haven now?!" I exclaim and gally nods as he stands up.
"You want to see hm?" He quizzes before he takes my hand and carefully stands me up before he shows me around the safe haven, and I stop at the rocks with everyone's names carved into it, my heart stopping when I see Newts name, but my eyebrows raise in shock when I see Teresa's name.
"Teresa died?" I ask as I turn to gally.
"Saving Thomas, actually." Gally says as he slings an arm around my shoulder.
"Well shit." I whisper as I begin to feel bad for all of the grief I gave her after she betrayed us, all for her to die saving Thomas.
Suddenly, my eyes fell on minho, and I realised I totally forgot we saved him, so I ran at him full speed, throwing my arms over him in probably one of the tightest hugs ever.
"Careful there." He says as he hugs me back, also being careful of my stomach.
"It's good to see you again." He then tells me with a laugh and I just nod.
As we all sit around the bonfire, all of us, Vince begins to speak.
"We've come along way together. So many people sacrificed so much to make this place possible." He begins.
"Your friends." He continues, and our group all look at each other and smile, all of us nodding in agreement.
"Your family." He adds, and Brenda looks at me, as I turn to face her from infront of her, gally and I sitting infront of her, minho and Thomas and she grabs my hand, and she mouths 'my sister' which brings a few tears to my eyes.
"So here's to the ones that couldn't be here." Vince continues as he raises his glass, and tears begin to spill when I think of newt.
"Here's to the friends we lost." Vince says as I raise my glass high, everyone doing the same.
"This place is for you. it's for all of us." He continues and gally looks at me, and when he realises I'm crying, he wraps an arm around my waist pulling me closer to him.
"But this, this is for them." Vince says as he points at the rocks with everyone's names on them.
"Welcome to the safe haven!" Vince then screams and we all clap and cheer, and from the corner of my eye I see Brenda and Thomas kissing, which makes me snap my head to them, letting out a large 'What!?' Which makes everyone around us laugh, before I taste whatever in my cup, and I let out a massive gasp which takes all the oxygen out of my lungs.
"It's your drink!" I scream to gally, and he nods before pulling me into a deep, meaningful kiss.
"It sure is." He says with a small smile before we go down to the front with Vince and start the massive bonfire, where we all talk and laugh all night, but gally is way more touchy, infact he's toucher than ever tonight.
"You know, we have our own room now, no more sharing a hammock in front of everyone." Gally says once the bonfire has died down and there's hardly any people around us.
"Wait, really?" I ask happily, and he nods.
"Yeah, would you like to see?" He quizzes, and I nod.
"Are you sure you won't mind leaving the bonfire?" He asks and I just shrug.
"Hardly anyone here now anyway." I say, and he grabs my hand and leads me to our room, which I just gawk at.
"Holy shit it's so nice!" I exclaim as I jump on the bed, only paining my stomach a little bit as I smile, and gally copies me, but he grabs my waist and pulls me on top of him, pressing small kisses to my lips.
"Gally." I say with laughs in between kisses, yes sure gally and I have made out before, but this is different, I can tell it is.
And I'm really not complaining.
"Do you want me to stop?" He asks as he leans his head into the pillows to break the kisses.
"No." I state as I smile at him.
"Good." He tells me before he flips us around so he's on top of me, which makes me blush, and I slowly feel a pit in my stomach growing, and I feel myself becoming wet.
"God, you're so gorgeous." Gally mumbles before he presses lips against mine, this time not breaking it, and instead, he deepens it by pushing his tongue into my mouth, which causes me to let out a small moan.
I can't remember if I've ever done anything like this before the maze, but if i have, it'd be really weird seeing as I would've been like fourteen or fifteen.
Gally smiles into the kiss as his hand slides under my shirt and makes its way to my bra, where he gently gropes my tits through the fabric of the bra, which only makes my moans slightly louder.
"You like that, hm?" Gally quizzes with a small chuckle before his lips make their way to my neck, as he begins to suck and bite it gently.
"Oh my god, gally." I groan as I wrap one of my legs around his waist, trying to pull him closer, but he's clearly still being careful of my stomach.
When gally stops kissing my neck, he looks up at me as he takes his hands off of my tits as it makes its way down to the button of my jeans, and I quickly kick off the sliders I'm now wearing, god knows where my trainers are because I wasn't even wearing this outfit when I last remember being awake.
"I missed you so much, yknow, not a day went by that I didn't think of you." Gally tells me as he unbuttons my jeans and unzips them, my breath hitching when he begins to pull them down my legs, his eyes not leaving mine.
"I always thought of you every day. I knee you were alive." I say to him, and he smiles at me.
"Oh yeah? What did you think about?" He asks before he pulls down my pants and slowly presses a finger to my clit, gently rubbing circles on it.
"Oh god- I thought of us. What would've happened between us if you lived." I tell him, moaning after almost every word, I'm a full virgin, like I've not ever even touched myself, I mean, how could I? I've never been left alone.
"Oh? What would've happened if i made it out with you guys?" He teases as he raises one of his fingers to his own mouth and carefully sucks it, before he slowly slides it into me.
"I had always thought that we could've got married or some shit, no matter how fucked the world was." I tell him with a small laugh and he smiles as he slowly begins to slide his finger in and out of me, causing me to turn into a moaning mess.
"And what about this? Did you ever think about us doing this?" Gally teases as he adds another finger into me, causing me to throw my head back into the pillow.
"Yes, oh fuck yes." I cry as his fingers reach deeper into me and its true.
"When?" He asks with a small smirk.
"All the time at night in the glade, I used to think about us sneaking into the deadheads and just doing it there, and then the night where I first saw you again I wanted you there and then." I tell him.
"Awh." He coos before he kisses me, and I shake my head and break the kiss.
"Gally, I want you." I whine, and he smirks at me as he pulls his two fingers out of me and sliding them into his own mouth, still maintaining eyecontact with me as he removes his fingers from his mouth, and his hands begin to work on his belt, but I swat his hands away and begin to unbuckle his belt myself, and once his belts fully gone, I take off his jeans, and then his boxers, and I audibly gasp when I see his cock.
I always knew gally was big, we had changed infront of each other before and I always saw the outline of his cock against his boxers, but now that its there infront of me, I'm gobsmacked.
"If it hurts, or if you want me to stop, just tell me." Gally warns and I nod as I lean back into the pillows and spread my legs as gally positions himself ontop of me as he begins to position his cock directly with my enterance.
"Are you still sure you want to do this?" Gally asks, and I carefully grab his face and nod.
"I'm sure gally." I promise and he nods before he slowly begins to push his cock into me, and I bite down hard on my lip.
It hurts. Don't get me wrong. But it feels absolutely perfect. I squeeze my eyes shut once he's fully inside of me, and I let out small moans when he lets out a small grunt.
"Is this okay?" He asks, and I moan and nod as he begins to thrust in and out of me.
"Fuck, it feels perfect gally, faster please." I beg and I watch as he nods as he begins to thurst faster into me, reaching deeper each time which sends me into full bliss.
"Do you know how much I thought about this?" Gally groans as he continues to thrust into me, going at a pace that's comfortable for both of us, and it's absolutely perfect, I stare at gally with a smile as I continue to moan, my eyes not leaving him.
"My handsome boy." I quietly say to him, and he looks at me with lit up eyes.
"You think I'm handsome?" He asks, his thrusts getting slightly faster.
"I think you're the best-looking boy to ever exist, gally." I tell him truthfully, and he presses a hand next to my head on the pillow as he stares down into my eyes, he's sweating slightly now.
"I think you're the most beautiful girl. Nobody could compare to you." He states and I smile weakly, his words pushing me over the edge as I come undone, gally quickly groaning and pulling out just intime to cum on my stomach.
"I love you gally." I sigh as he presses his forehead against mine.
"I love you too. I'll love you forever." He promises with a weak kiss to my lips.
GALLY X READER
Enemies-Friends-Lovers
SNIPPET FROM CHAPTER 6 OF PROJECT GRIEVER (Wattpad: Bells_Stories)
"You were right yesterday." He says sighing. "It's just..hard to admit that I'm scared." He says fiddling with his flask.
"Look, maybe I was a little to harsh yesterday. After a night's rest in that pit I'm still upset but I understand. Fear makes people do stupid shit." I say.
"Yeah still doesn't excuse it though if Minho hadn't backed you up you'd still be in there and I would be out here and you're right that's no way for someone to live. Especially not you." He says and I can feel him looking at me so I turned my head. His eyes locked with mine and I could feel my heart racing. I wasn't sure why. His dark blue eyes were locked into mine and his skin was glowing from the flickering of the fire.
"You can't look at me like that." I said and looked away. "Then I'll forgive you much faster." I lightly laughed and I can feel him smile.
"That's a shame. I like looking at you." He says and bumps his shoulder into mine and I laugh. I take the flask from him and take another swig of his drink which doesn't feel as crappy the second time around. "Alby told me what you found." He said.
"Oh yeah?" I asked not very surprised.
"Yeah...tomorrow when we all meet together...Alby plans on telling the boys."
"Good. It gives them hope."
"I voted against it." He says and I turned around.
"Gally..." I say disappointedly.
"Let me explain alright. I just didn't want them to know and then it doesn't go anywhere. What if that's it? What if that's all you found? Then what? We would be back to square one but even more devastated."
"You will? Or them?" I say pointing to the boys behind us. Gally out his head down and replied.
"Both but it doesn't matter. I lost the vote anyways." He says and plays with the grass. I realize now that changing his mind on these things and keeping our relationship, whatever it may be and our morals regarding the maze separate will be very difficult.
"I'm glad you lost. People deserve to know everything. It regards them, whatever we may find here." I say. "Everyone has a right to know. Regardless of your opinion." I say and turn towards him. As if reading my mind he says.
"We can't take it personally you know. We disagree a lot, I just hope you don't take it personally just know that I won't. I understand you and I think you can understand me too. Just promise that we'll still be friends after it." He says and I smile.
"As long as it's not against me and me alone then yeah it's nothing personal. Friends." I said and stuck out my hand and he shook it.
"Friends." I stayed there a little while longer looking at him while he spoke of his day and how the other builders got him pissed. I smiled when I can see he conveniently leave out the part were he was waiting for me to come back. I noticed that I love the sound of his voice, his facial expressions, the way he explains himself and I can tell that he's being more important to be by the second. After we chatted and most of the gladers went to sleep we decided it was time for us to do the same. I sighed and stood up wobbling. I guess those extra sips of the drink got to me. "You alright?"
"Yeah just a little light headed. Can you walk me back?"
"Yeah I wasn't planning other wise." he said and wrapped a hand around my waist from stopping me from falling over. He brought me up the stairs of the homestead and to my door and opened it for me to walk through. He placed me on the bed, took of my shoes and placed the sheet over me.
"Thank you Gally." I say my eyes closing shut.
"Anytime." He says and I felt a kiss being placed on my forehead. Then the sounds of his shoes leaving the room and finally I slept.
Rushed Reunion
⚠contains maze runner SPOILERS⚠
{Gally x !GN! Reader}
Summary: After reaching the last city, you reunite with Gally after thinking he was dead. (takes place in the Death Cure movie)
Warnings: Violence, cursing
WC: 1k
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The streets are crowded as your group attempts to push their way through to the front of the barrier. You wonder silently why no one wants to cross it, given the lack of guards patrolling, but decide it is better to be safe than sorry.
People are screaming from all around you and the group, and it's all you can do, not to be separated from each other. Finally, you reach the street that winds down the middle of the square. Large black trucks pass, many of them carrying uniformed soldiers towards the border. You stare up at them, wonderingly and one catched your eye. You don't mean to exactly, but as the soldier keeps your gaze locked with his own, you let your eyes follow him down the road until the car turns and continues out of sight.
"Y/N," Newt calls from a few paces ahead, "we're going to try to make it to the front." You nod and follow him, along with the rest of the group.
It takes some pushing, shoving, and Thomas pulling you forward between two women who refuse to budge, but finally, you can rest your hands on the concrete fence. Thomas and Newt talk to each other in hurried whispers to your left, while you quickly survey your surroundings. Beyond the mass of people there is a strong iron wall, splitting only for seconds at a time as vehicles enter the city.
Resting on the tops of the walls are large weapons, all pointed away from the crowd, but you don't underestimate their power once activated. As if reading your mind, small red lights flicker on inside each of the machines and they spring to life, un-focusing on the entrances and instead setting their malicious sights on the front of the crowd. At once, everything goes silent, then, the first blast crashes to the ground on your right and screams erupt throughout the mob.
You're knocked out of your stupor as someone grabs your arm.
"Let's go!" a voice yells, and you can't tell if it's Thomas, Fry, or someone else. Instead of thinking, you run in the direction of the voice, trying to get away from the area of the blast but more attacks are already coming. The hit the ground behind you and it is all you can do to stay on your feet as the ground shifts. Suddenly, someone grabs you, but the idea that it may be someone from the Glade stops you from reacting immediately.
"Thomas?" You ask, but no one answers, and before you know it, you're being thrown into the back of a dark van. You scream, running towards the doors to escape, but you're knocked backwards as Jorge is thrown into the van as well. He doesn't hesitate to mimic your actions, throwing his weight against the door of the van right as it closes securely.
You sit back on your heels, trying to catch your breath, but Jorge continues to ram himself against the door as the van begins to move.
"Let me out you assholes!" He screams and you lunge forward grabbing his middle and pulling him back.
"Jorge! Stop, you're going to hurt yourself!" You try and scream over his consistent yells, but he continues trying to break down the doors, to no avail.
After about ten minutes of this, the vans stop, and Jorge backs up, readying himself for a fight, and as the doors open, he propels himself forward and out of the car and towards the soldiers.
You jump after him, wrapping your arms around his waist as he tries to run at the others.
"Where is she?" he yells, his voice booming in what you realize is a kind of highway overpass. "Where is Brenda? If you hurt her i'll-"
"Jorge I'm here, I'm right here," Brenda assures, stepping out of an identical van to your right. You release Jorge's middle as he crosses over to Brenda. You turn to the others, Thomas, Newt, and Fry, as they also step out of the van.
"Thanks for leaving me with him," you mutter as Newt walks over to pat your shoulder.
"Anytime," Newt smirks, and you smile. Thomas, however, is already striding over to the closest soldier, anger evident in his features.
"Where are we?" he asks, his voice and temper both rising, "where did you bring us?"
"We're here to help," another soldier calls, making his way over to your group, "no need to get angry." You recognize the voice but can't place it immediately. Apparently, Newt does as well, because he turns to you, a look of confusion crossing his face.
"Who are you?" Thomas asks, his voice still louder than anyone else's. The soldier sighs, and stops walking, only a few feet away. Then, his head turns towards you, and he takes off his helmet.
As soon as you see him, your arms are around his neck, pulling him closer to you. Gally's arms curl around your waist in return, and he snuggles his nose into the crook of your neck, breathing in your scent deeply.
"I-I thought you were-"
"I know," he whispers so that only you can hear him, "I know, and I'm sorry." Instead of responding, you pull him impossibly closer, never wanting to let go. When you finally pull away, he presses a quick kiss to your lips, and you smile.
"I missed you," you whisper, before turning back to the group. While the two of you reunited, the others had been talking. As you face Thomas, Newt and the others now, they turn to you, hope alite on their dirt-covered faced, and smiles starting to form.
"Okay," Thomas starts, "we have a plan."

Series masterlist, masterpost
Gally x fem!Reader
The Maze Runner (2009 novel - James Dashner, 2014 film - Wes Ball)
Word count: 2474 (woah!)
Summary: literally what acupnoodle asked for. You fall asleep on Gally, he carries to bed and stays at your behest. Confessions are made.
Content: fluff (so much fluff), teenagers being teenagers, Gally is a sweetheart, friends to lovers ig.
Notes: ok I know it’s not that great but omg I had so much fun writing this. One request down, five to go!
You were exhausted. In fact, exhausted was an understatement. You were tired to the bone and you had no idea why. It wasn’t like you’d done anything out of the ordinary, “the ordinary” wasn’t even that strenuous. Sure, hammering in garden stakes might leave you with sore arms and blistered hands, and pulling weeds was hard on your back, but the gardens were easy. Not like being a builder. Not like him.
He was fine, laughing beside you at some (probably lame) joke from one of the other noticeably not tired boys at your little table, his shoulder bumping against yours every so often. He was always fine. Always ready with a smile and a nod to you, a large calloused hand held out like some kind of nineteenth century gentleman whenever you got up or sat down. The other boys liked to poke fun at him for how he treated you, but you adored it.
“You alright, (Y/N)?” he was asking now, his brows furrowed slightly. With a start, you realised that your head had begun to droop forwards, and that several people were looking at you oddly.
“Fine,” you said. Gally raised an eyebrow, but shrugged and continued to dig into the plate of rich stew and tender brown rice before him. Your mouth twitched with the hint of a smile as you felt his strong, rough fingers find and envelop your own under the table, squeezing gently. God, this boy.
The laughter and chatter was beginning to blur into one humming, buzzing drone in your ears, the food you’d just finished heavy and warm in your stomach. Your mind swam, at ease in the warmth and comfort of the glade, Gally’s hand anchoring you. But then you were drifting, drifting…
“Oi,” said Zart, pointing with his fork at Gally’s shoulder. “Did she just fall asleep?”
Gally turned his head carefully, glancing down at where the warmth of your body pressed against him. You were completely boneless, slumped awkwardly over his side, your hand still resting in his and your cheek mushed up against his arm. Your breathing was deep and even. Shit, you really were asleep.
“Be quiet,” he said quickly, “don’t wake her up.” He’d felt the moment your head had come to rest on his shoulder, but hadn’t let himself dwell on it aside from noting the frantic lurch his heart gave and the swarm of butterflies you’d unwittingly unleashed in his stomach.
The other boys, idiots that they were, hooted in unison.
“Gally the grump’s got himself a girl!” sang Ben, peering around to get a look at your sleeping face. “And a damned cute one too!”
Gally felt his cheeks heat uncomfortably. “She’s the only girl, shuckface.” But Ben was right. You were beautiful, when the sun was glancing off the walls mid afternoon and gilding you in gold. You were pretty, when you smiled as you took his hand when he offered it to you – something he still didn’t even know the reason for. You were fascinating to watch as you worked, your fingers effortless transforming empty dirt into a veritable wellspring of food. And yeah, you were cute, when you were slumped against his side, out like a light.
“Should we do something?” Zart frowned, still pointing his spoon at you. “She doesn’t look comfortable. And she might drool on you.”
“Gally’d love some (Y/N) drool,” someone – luckily for them, Gally didn’t see who – called down the table. “Wouldn’t you, Gally?”
“I said be quiet!” he whisper-shouted, glaring around. How you’d ever managed to conk out in this racket was beyond him, and how you’d managed to stay that way was even more of a mystery.
Ben frowned, drumming his fingers on the table. “Maybe we should wake her up, tell her to go to bed.”
“Do you wanna wake her up?” Gally almost snapped, keeping his irritation out of his voice with no small effort. “No, I’ll just carry her.” He said this mostly to himself, but realised his mistake in voicing the thought almost immediately. A massive chorus of whooping and laughter interspersed with a few whistles went up, a few boys even going so far as to bang their fists on the table.
Gally was quick to scoop you into his arms, standing carefully and gathering your limp form against his chest. It wasn’t a far walk to the tree that overshadowed your hammock, but every step risked tripping or stumbling, which would be disastrous while carrying you. You weren’t heavy, as such – certainly nothing he couldn’t handle – but you were a dead weight.
Finally, he reached the old sheet he’d helped you hang up as a sort of privacy screen, kicking it aside with a muttered curse when his foot got tangled in the material. The world really didn’t seem to be on his side tonight. Aside from the fact that he was holding you, of course.
You shifted in your sleep, a half-formed syllable slipping from your lips.
“Shh,” Gally whispered. “It’s alright, you don’t have to wake up. In fact, please don’t wake up.” God, what would you do if you saw him now? He could imagine the pink flooding over your cheeks, like it had that one time he’d thoughtlessly remarked that he loved your laugh. You hadn’t been able to meet his eyes for a full ten minutes, overcome by secret little pleased smiles whenever he caught a glimpse of your face. It’d made his heart soar, there was no other way to describe the swooping feeling inside him that still arose whenever he thought about the incident. There it was, right now.
Gally shook his head, dispelling the memory. He wasn’t going to get caught up in the stupid sappiness you unfailingly dragged out of him, the same sappiness that drew the mocking whistles and laughter of the other boys like iron filings to a magnet. You ignored it completely, though how, Gally was at a loss. He’d toyed with the idea that you were just unaware of it, but that had to be impossible. No, you were just a good deal better at keeping your head than he was.
Now, as he lowered you as gently as he could into the hammock, he was acutely aware of how close he was to you. You looked so small, bundled into the cocoon of well worn cotton on top of a mess of blankets – something he should have thought to move before putting you down. He let himself look at you for a moment. Your still, peaceful face; your chest rising and falling gently with every breath you took; the fine shadow your lashes cast on the delicate skin beneath your eyes. In the dim light emanating from the closest lantern, you could have come straight out of his dreams.
But you were real, and you were going to get cold if he didn’t give you a blanket. He wriggled one carefully from under your body, spread it over you and tucked the edges into the hammock. Then, on an impulse, he bent and placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
You stirred, a faint sigh and the tiniest hint of a smile. “Gally?” you slurred, your eyes still closed. Were you talking in your sleep? Should he respond?
“Yeah,” he murmured after a moment’s consideration. “Just me.”
“Mm.” You smiled again, fumbling to get your hand free. Somehow, as though by instinct, your fingers found his and you gripped his hand firmly. “Stay,” you whispered, voice thick with sleep. “Stay?”
Gally was frozen, unable to do anything. “Yeah,” he said dumbly. “Yeah, I’ll stay.”
“Good,” you smiled. You muttered something else, but it was lost as you turned sideways and snuggled deeper into the blanket.
Gally stood stock still, his hand still in yours. What the hell did he do now? He couldn’t just leave, and he certainly couldn’t get in that hammock with you. The thought made something inside him twist with longing, but he had no idea if you wanted that. Sure, you were friends – close friends – but that was a step he didn’t want to take while you were asleep. No way.
Eventually, he settled down with his back against the tree, arm resting on the side of the hammock, fingers still entwined with your own. It was far from the comfort of his own hammock some five metres away, but the sound of your breathing and the small, warm weight of your hand in his more than made up for it.
It’s not so bad, he thought, resting his head back against the rough bark of the tree. The distant sounds of the other boys’ chatter floated through the night, mixed with the scuttling and chittering of the invisible nocturnal creatures who shared their home. It’s really not so bad.
The harsh, dissonant grating of the Walls woke you, just like it did every morning. You opened your eyes and, just like you did every morning, allowed yourself a few seconds to stare into the canopy of the tree above. Like every morning, the pale light of daybreak was filtering gently through its leaves, landing in soft patches on the blanket covering your body. You wriggled down in the hammock, just as you did every morning, stretching your arms wide…
“Huh?”
You jumped. Your hand had hit something. No, someone. That didn’t happen every morning. You spun, your legs tangling in the blanket, and stared. Gally was sitting against the tree, rubbing at his neck with a grimace.
“Gally?” you asked, unsure if you were still dreaming. What the hell was he doing here?
“Hey (Y/N),” he mumbled, wincing as he turned his head from side to side. “Bloody hell, that tree sucks.” Then, seeing your confusion, he frowned. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” you said slowly. “What are you doing here?”
Gally’s cheeks flushed pink, his gaze dropping from you to the ground. You were a little grateful for that; you must have looked like shit. It was stupid, you knew that – everyone looked like shit in the Glade – but something about Gally made you care about the stupid things. How you looked, how you acted, how you sounded, how you smiled, how you laughed. He’d said he loved your laugh once, and you still couldn’t stop the smile from breaking across your face every time you thought about it. He drove you insane.
“You fell asleep at dinner,” he was saying now. “It wasn’t exactly quiet over there, and you looked tired. You were probably sleep talking or something, but you asked me to stay, and I didn’t know what to do so I just…” he trailed off, waving a hand vaguely around the hammock, you, and himself.
“Oh,” was all you could manage. You’d vaguely recalled the feeling of someone’s strong arms lifting you, a rough hand in yours, someone telling you that it was alright and that you didn’t have to wake up. And a kiss, feather light on your forehead. But that had been a dream, right? A nice dream, but a dream all the same.
“I’m sorry,” Gally was saying now. “If I overstepped or… or anything. I can go if you want?”
“No, don’t go,” you said quickly, then realised how clingy and desperate it sounded. “I mean, if you want to you can but I don’t mind.” You cringed at your own words, wishing you could pull them back inside you, stuff them deep down where they’d never see the light of day. “Thank you,” you said instead. “For… this.”
Gally smiled, picking at a piece of grass near his foot, twisting it between his fingers. “Anything for you,” he mumbled, then blushed, avoiding your eyes.
Your stomach did a flip, but you laughed it off. You swung your legs over the edge of your hammock, leaning forwards and taking his hand in both of yours. “I mean it,” you smiled.
Gally’s eyes flicked up to meet your own, clear and serious. “So do I,” he said.
You weren’t sure how to respond to that. You just sat there, dumbly holding his hand in yours and smiling, your heart thundering madly. He didn’t see you the way you saw him, right? He treated you differently to everyone else, he was softer and he smiled more. He never made jokes at your expense, and sure, he’d held your hand as you fell asleep on him and then carried you to bed, but he was just being nice, wasn’t he?
“Can I…” He hesitated, cleared his throat, then began again. “Can I kiss you?”
Oh. “Kiss me?” you echoed, your mind frozen.
“Sorry,” he said quickly, his cheeks flushing crimson. “God, sorry (Y/N) I didn’t–”
You cut him off. “Yes.”
“What?”
“Yes,” you nodded. “Yes, you can kiss me. I want you to.”
He frowned. “Are you sure?”
You nodded again, leaning further out of your hammock towards him. He met you halfway, his lips soft against yours, and butterflies exploded into a whirling storm in your stomach. He was so gentle with you, his free hand cupping your cheek so tenderly it made you want to scream. You let your own hands find purchase on his chest, steadying yourself so as to avoid falling out of the hammock – you were definitely leaning too far forwards.
“Woah,” you whispered when he pulled back.
“Woah,” he repeated. His thumb stroked over your cheekbone, as strongly comforting as anything that was him was.
“I didn’t know you thought about me,” you said. “Like that, I mean.”
He grinned. “I do. Do you think about me? Like that?”
You nodded, your own smile matching his. You were downright giddy, on top of the world, and nothing could ever bring you down.
Gally stood, holding out a hand to you just like he always did. You took it, pulling yourself to your feet gingerly. But this time, where he usually would have let your fingers slip from his, he held on.
“I’d ask you out,” he said. “If there was an ‘out’ to go to.”
You grinned. “I’d say yes. Besides, it’s the thought that counts.”
“The thought that counts,” he agreed.
You stood in silence for a moment, then, “I’d go ‘out’ if ‘out’ was a landfill site.”
“I’d never take you to a landfill site,” Gally said, shaking his head adamantly. “Never.”
“What if I liked landfill sites?”
“Maybe then.”
You smiled for what must have been the tenth time in the short time you’d been awake, stretching up to place a kiss on his lips. He held you close, smiling against you. Your knees practically turned to jelly.
“We’re never going to hear the end of this, are we?” you murmured.
“I don’t care,” he replied.
You shrugged, smiling once more. “Neither do I.”
