you know we all say "the gang ruined cricket" this "the gang destroyed cricket's life" that but it was actually the sheer sex appeal of ms. deandra reynolds that started this domino effect. matthew mara was down so bad for dee that he used his once in a lifetime permanent resignation from being a priest for a chance with her. let's all get it right: an opportunity for dee reynolds pussy destroyed cricket's life.

in the gang exploits a miracle, dennis goes on a three-day fast because dee said his face looked fat. she only says this in petty retaliation, as he starts off the episode calling her face blotchy.
i'm fascinated by how the twins handle criticism differently. when dee becomes self-conscious about her appearance due to dennis' comments, she goes to cricket and gets him to fall in love with her again, and repeats her statement about dennis looking fat, even when she knows he's starving himself. dee's response to emotional discomfort is to make others hurt too--she ruins cricket's life (inadvertently) and tears down dennis emotionally to make herself feel secure. when dennis becomes self-conscious about dee's comments, he starts slowly destroying himself by starving himself for 3 days, which culminates in him fainting on the bar floor. he could have seriously hurt himself.
although we think of dennis as the violent one, he's much more dangerous to himself than anyone else when emotionally wounded. dee, however, finds validation through making others dependent on her. i'm guessing this comes from their childhood, when dennis was the golden child who received approval and love and dee was the black sheep. dennis came to expect attention, and require a certain amount of admiration to thrive, whereas dee never got that from her family and she had to seek out external sources of self-worth in other people, or learn how to externalize her hurt onto others to keep it from consuming her.

There was a Dennis/Dee post I wanted to reblog but I couldn’t because I was blocked by the OP. But I had to make sure the info was on the blog somewhere.. So it’s below the cut. Please don’t reblog this post. If you want to reblog, reblog from OP here. Thanks!

The recurring thing where Mac wants to be a priest makes me wince. Like bud, I cannot stress enough how much that vocation will not solve any of your problems. In a way I'm glad he has so many other issues that he could never stick with the training.
