Lucy is an intelligent young woman who moves to a small village to escape her father’s involvement with a secret organisation. Upon arriving, she hears of the mysterious Prince Garcia, who retreated into hiding after his wife and his daughter were murdered. Despite the murder remaining unsolved, his aloof demeanour meant that the village had no problem blaming him for their deaths. With only his staff to keep him company, the loneliness and isolation begins to wear him down. After years of being alone, he seems to everyone else a cold and cruel man. When Lucy refuses to follow her father’s footsteps into the organisation, her mother makes a deal with the prince to keep her in his castle until she decides to join Rittenhouse. He agrees partly due to his loneliness and wants nothing more than a friend. Despite getting off on the wrong foot, where Lucy joins his household believing the rumours of his family’s death, they become friends and eventually realises that Garcia is really a kindred spirit. Eventually falling in love, she inspires Garcia to prove the villagers’ assumptions wrong, much to the anger of Wyatt Logan, a hunter who was hoping to win Lucy over and was the villager who began the rumour he killed his family.

Hanahaki disease: A fictional disease where the victim coughs up blood and flower petals when suffering from unrequited love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings or the victim dies from roots and flowers growing in their respiratory system. The disease can be cured through surgical removal, but this causes the romantic feelings to disappear.

The day Lucy Preston first coughs up blood she isn’t exactly surprised. They all know that time travelling has side effects on their bodies. Jiya has her visions, Rufus his headaches and Flynn and Wyatt are plagued by nightmares from different timelines. However, she is surprised to see a flower petal in the blood. The diagnosis is easily made… Hanahaki disease.

Months go by and it gets harder and harder for Lucy to function. She coughs up blood and petals at least two times a week now, and she feels her breath hitch in her throat much sooner after running away from Rittenhouses goons when they get too close. There is only one cure though: having the one you love fall in love with you too. She loves Flynn, she really does, yet she cannot blame him for not loving her back. He lost his wife and daughter, he started a war across time to get them back for crying out loud. And she just had to fall for that man, just her luck. Now she is dying.

Garcia Flynn gets more worried as the months go by. He sees Lucy deteriorating every day. His heart breaks for her, that Wyatt doesn’t return her feelings. She deserves better, a great life with someone who loves her for who she truly is: the kindest and most intelligent woman he has ever met. If only the stupid soldier would chose her. Flynn would rather see her happy with him than see another woman he loves die. He doesn’t know if he can handle it.

So he helps her, every day without fail. He gets her coffee, holds her hair when she coughs up more blood. Helps her clean and reads her her favorite history books when she feels extra sick that day. He vows to make her life the best he can, like she deserves.

Lucy Preston doesn’t know whats worse: dying because Flynn doesn't love her back, or Flynn’s guilt which makes him care for her now. All she knows is that she cannot take it anymore. So they talk. She half drags him into their shared room and pushes him on the bed. She tells him all: how much she loves him, how she knows he cannot love her with Iris and Lorena, that she is fine with dying because under no circumstances she will lose someone she loves because of this, she will not forget him. She has lost enough people she cares about as it is. All the while Lucy rambles, Flynn remains silent. Shocked. When he regains his senses, he walks over to her and kisses her, effectively stopping Lucy’s ongoing ramblings. 

Maybe the disease is mutated because of the time traveling? Maybe it’s a rare form that has yet to be studied by scientists. They don’t know why, but Lucy is not healing. In fact, she is getting worse. This shouldn't happen, they love each other. She should be fine now. But she isn’t. Far from it. The doctors who examined her gave her a maximum of 4 months. Needless to say Lucy and Flynn were shocked. So, they tried to make the best of it.

Lucy read all her favorite books again, Flynn taught her how to cook, she went to do things she normally would never even consider to do. Even taking up things she loved as a child, like art, but never dared to start again because of the pressure Carol placed on her. Everything needed to be perfect. Only perfection is enough, the rest a waste of time. She hasn't felt this happy and carefree in ages. One day, she wakes Flynn up for a midnight walk. Just because they can. She has always loved this spontaneous side of herself, but never had the chance to let it free. Always worrying about what others might think of her, what her mother might say instead of just loving the moment. Loving who she truly is.

1 week later, they mark her first week in 6 months without coughing up blood on the calendar. Two weeks later they get the confirmation from the doctor the flowers are retreating. Somehow, Lucy’s body is healing. They found the answer. Her happiness was the key. She never got the time to stop and go back to loving herself instead of being who others wanted her to be. People always assumed it needed to be love for another, when sometimes self love is the biggest challenge of them all.

While I was studying a painting for my History of art's exam, I had this idea.

The setting is Ancient Rome during the Roman Empire.

Garcia Flynn is an ex centurion of the Roman Empire (He is from Dalmatia, ex Illyricum). After his wife Lorena passed away Garcia and his daughter Iris set themselves in Rome.

One day while he was at the market with his daughter and his slaves Karl and Jiya (they are not slave for him, but part of the family, however people have to believe the opposite) notice a slave sale, where a girl is screaming and crying.

The girl, Lucy (we will discover after), is trying not to be sold separately from her little sister Amy. Meanwhile Iris has escaped from Jiya and she finds Lucy's little sister chain in the tent.

Iris is like:"don't worry my father will help you, I'm going to tell him about you" and she ran to her father.

Flynn sends his daughter home with Karl promising that he would help the two girls.

So he approachs the slaveseller and, after threatening him, he buys the two sisters.

Amy and Iris immediately become friends.

Lucy is initially suspicious of Flynn but then begins to get closer and closer.

Lucy and Amy were sold as slaves because after their parents' death their uncles (Nicholas and Emma) want to get their fortune.

Lucy was hurt by the slave seller so Flynn let her sleep in his bed while she recovery and while Karl and Rufus prepare a place for her.

While Lucy was Rittenhouse's prisoner, they taught her to say “thank you” any time they hurt her. Now she’s at the bunker and doing a pretty good job at not letting anyone know how horrible her time with Rittenhouse was. She’s swallowing her “thank yous” and the constant urge to apologize and maybe, just maybe, no one will realize what she became during that time.

If you haven’t read “When You Taught Me How To Dance” by Silvestria, what are you even doing with your life? It’s a beautifully written missing episode for Season Two, and it’s just 7,000+ words of Garcy being magical. There’s fluff, there’s angst, there’s drama, and there’s beautiful dancing. 

Seriously, it’s like something out of a fairytale. And if that’s not enough to persuade you, it includes Garcia Flynn singing in Croatian. Bit of a sad ending, but I like to think of it as hopeful. Just a step in their journey.

Garcia Flynn has never been the one to step into a bar after the accident which left him blind, but this time he stopped his guide dog Stiv at the door of The Lifeboat. The bar itself is nothing special, or at least he thinks it still is. It’s been years since he had set foot into that bar, and by then he was still able to see. But now, it’s a voice that managed to capture his attention. The singer’s voice manages to drag him inside and before he fully realizes what is going on, he is sitting at one of the tables with Stiv resting at his feet. Her singing captivates him so much, he forgets how long he has been there at all. The woman thanks her audience and reminds them she will perform every Friday at the bar. The owner of the bar, Karl, is an old friend of his army days. Karl convinces Flynn to stop by some more, and Flynn agrees. He won’t admit it to Karl now, but it has more to do with the mesmerizing voice he just heard…

Lucy Preston has always loved singing. It’s always been a way to feel free. Free from life and from her mother’s overbearing mannerisms. She has been performing at The Lifeboat  for several weeks now, and loving every minute. Usually, she is too into her songs to notice her audience, totally in her own world, yet she notices him every time. He sits every Friday at his usual table, his dog sits next to his chair and he is chatting with Karl before listening to her performance. She cannot lie and say she isn't flattered by his attention. She feels drawn to him, but has yet to find to courage to talk to him...

After her performance that night Karl waves at her, wanting her to come over to their table. Karl introduces her to Garcia Flynn before leaving. Claiming he has something to see to in his office. Lucy and Flynn talk and talk, noticing everything they have in common. They just failed to notice two things: the fact the bar is now empty and Karl is sitting behind the bar grinning at the pair, shaking his head lightly and muttering “I better be the best man at their wedding” to himself.
