just thinking once again of the tragedy that is Abigail Hobbs. this girl found herself trapped in crisis after crisis with no good choices to make.
she suspects her father is killing girls so he won’t kill her. she’s scared, she listens to what he says, follows his lead, but this is no true deliberate assistance. who can she tell? what if they don’t believe her and he kills her in retaliation? can she betray and destroy her family based on coincidence and strong suspicions without concrete evidence? did her mother know? this fearful indecision crucifies her in jack’s eyes when she survives her father. the truth comes out and she becomes a lone child who has to bear the weight of her father’s crimes and her own guilt of doing what she could to survive all while trying to process her recent orphanhood. pushed and pulled between every adult who calls her victim, accomplice, survivor, liar, murderer, girl, cannibal…she is taken under the wing of a man who cares for her despite the darkness she hides.
she trusts him and that works…for a time. but in the end, trapped as she is in the past and under the thumb of the only person who accepted her as who she is with no illusions or judgment…she dies as a pawn, throat slit by one father figure in front of another in a kitchen as her own father intended. punished yet again for actions outside her control and not knowing what she did that was so wrong.

Just realized that the gunshot wounds on Garret Jacob Hobbs are in nearly the same places as the antler wounds on Elise Nichols.
And yet, Will Graham is a horrible shot, and doesn't have the stomach to pull the trigger
Really makes me wonder if he ever kills someone the way he wants to, rather than just copying the MOs of others. I would love to see a role-reversal AU where Will is a notorious copycat who never kills in a unique way.

Quote
Dear Will, A brief note of congratulations for the job you did on Mr. Lounds. I admired it enormously. What a cunning boy you are! Mr. Lounds often offended me with his ignorant drivel, but he did enlighten me on one thing — your confinement in the mental hospital. My inept attorney should have brought that out in court, but never mind. You know, Will, you worry too much. You'd be so much more comfortable if you relaxed with yourself. We don't invent our natures, Will; they're issued to us along with our lungs and pancreas and everything else. Why fight it? I want to help you, Will, and I'd like to start by asking you this: When you were so depressed after your shot Mr. Garrett Jacob Hobbs to death, it wasn't the act that got you down, was it? Really, didn't you feel so bad because killing him felt so good? Think about it, but don't worry about it. Why shouldn't it feel good? It must feel good to God — He does it all the time, and are we not made in His image? You may have noticed in the paper yesterday, God dropped a church roof on thirty-four of His worshipers in Texas Wednesday night — just as they were groveling through a hymn. Don't you think that felt good? Thirty-four. He'd let you have Hobbs. He got 160 Filipinos in one plan crash last week — He'll let you have measly Hobbs. He won't begrudge you one measly murder. Two now. That's all right. Watch the papers. God always stays ahead. Best, Hannibal Lecter, M.D.

i don’t think they expanded on the storyline of Abigail being a helper in her father’s crimes. I mean there was one clip implying it and that was that ://

Chapters: 1/? Fandom: Hannibal (TV) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Relationships: Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter Characters: Hannibal Lecter, Will Graham, Jack Crawford, Alana Bloom, Abigail Hobbs, Garrett Jacob Hobbs Additional Tags: POV Hannibal Lecter, Hannibal Lecter is a Cannibal, Hannibal Lecter Loves Will Graham, But he doesn't know it yet, Will Graham is a Mess, Dark Will Graham, Hannibal is manipulative, this is not a healthy relationship, Hannibal (TV) Season/Series 01, Episode: s01e01 Apéritif, the fall of Will Graham, The Becoming, Canon Compliant, i think Summary:
Hannibal has always enjoyed learning how things work. How to take things apart and see how far he push them until they finally break; he's always been curious about how things play out when he takes out a cog or adds in a new moving part. He likes to watch tea cups shatter and men fall apart, yet he is always upset when they don't come back together again.
Hannibal believes that Will Graham is worthy and capable of becoming his equal, and he is determined to carve him into just that, to elevate Will to a state of divinity and power, to do that, he must first watch him shatter and break so that he can put the pieces back together and seal the cracks with gold to create his Becoming.
This story will follow Hannibal's point of view through Season 1 (and maybe further) and is roughly based on the story of Pygmalion - a sculptor who falls in love with his own creation. Hannibal is a destructive artist, he wishes to turn Will into a God and his equal; someone who truly understands him and so he will carve Will into this design.

I listened to the audio at the end of aperitif and counted nine gunshot sounds, which means Will shot Hobbs once for every girl he victimized; 8 dead with Abigail as his ninth.

Everyone knows how heartbreakingly wonderful it was when Will said "It's beautiful" in TWOTL but that was not caught my attention at first. It was what Hannibal said. It makes everything come full-fucking-circle.
Will's becoming started in Aperitif with him killing Garrett Jacob Hobbs, a cannibalistic serial killer and Will's enemy. Hobbs was slouched on the floor with bullets in him and covered in his victims' blood. His last words, staring into Will's eyes are "See? See?"
Will's becoming came to fruition in The Wrath of the Lamb, with the death of Francis Dolarhyde. And after Francis' death, Will stood together with Hannibal, a cannibalistic serial killer and Will's enemy, who is suffering from a bullet in him and they are both covered in their victim's blood. And what does Hannibal say?
"See? This is all I ever wanted for you. For both of us."
