July 19, 2021 - Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrush (Garrulax monileger)
Found in parts of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, these laughingthrushes live in hilly forests. They feed on insects and their larvae, snails, small lizards, berries, fruits, and seeds, foraging on the ground and in shrubs, often in mixed-species flocks. Breeding from March to August, they build shallow cup-shaped nests from dry bamboo and other leaves, twigs, roots, and other materials. Females lay clutches of three to five eggs.
