Amazing Computing June 1997
An unexpected purchaser (again) gained control of the Amiga’s technology, and this issue reported in detail on Gateway 2000′s potential plans. QuickPak’s regular ad at the front of the magazine expressed disappointment “that our own bid was unsuccessful,” but was willing to be hopeful about what had happened. A smaller ad further into the magazine welcomed “our new bovine overlords.”

It’s official
I have written my first x86 assembly program, complied it directly onto a floppy, and ran it on original hardware!
Alas, I used EMU8086 to write and compile the code 😔 so I’m almost there, but not quite. But I’m more than close enough to be happy (:
All this program does is print text to the DOS screen. But, that’s all I wanted it to do :) Just a test

So after noticing that I haven't been seeing or hearing much of the traditional "War on Christmas" nonsense that's plagued my every holiday season for years like clockwork, I did some digging because I am very normal.
Apparently the Washington Post noticed this trend as well, and were even able to track how "War on Christmas" discourse actually peaked during 2012/2013 (so around the election and the Start of Obama's second term. Gee I wonder why) and has been on a decline ever since.
For me, the holiday season didn't begin until Uncle Bill O'Reilly, drunk off Thanksgiving turkey and secret whiskey started pulling out his notes about how the Gap and Macy's were killing Judeo-Christian values.
It's all just "woke" now! Back in my day the War on Christmas used to mean something, dammit! Sure it was a stupid, petty, exhausting construct of paranoia and grievance, but back then (so like...2012) you could cheerfully and sincerely wish your conservative friends, family, and acquaintances a "Happy Holiday" and watch their faces turn red with rage, and that was a gift that kept us warm during a long winter that actually had snow.
Shaking my heard that this new War on Woke has killed our holiday traditions. So sad.

My first home computer was a gateway-2000, and seeing your username made me unreasonably happy!
hey!!! thank you so much, that's exactly why i chose this url!!! :-D my grandma had a gateway-2000 that i played all kinds of crap on. dude my whole family was fascinated with that computer- my schizophrenic grandpa didn't allow internet, but he was okay with us all getting offline games and everyone went berserk.
my dad bought a ton of shareware and Galaxy of Games game packs where they had like 400 games on them or something insane. i remember a windows 95 horse racing game with atari 2600 looking graphics. i remember playing a LOT of windows taipei (that mahjongg game) i got a sonic the hedgehog multipack at walmart that had Sonic, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, and Sonic R and i played all of them nonstop. i also played rollercoaster tycoon constantly, and would have a CD of music playing in the background also on the PC, usually something like sean paul or whatever i listened to when i was in my larval stage.
sorry for rambling, but i'm glad you got exactly why i chose my url!!! ur awesome, have a great day!! i hope you have great memories of ur old cow patterned friend, too
