sylvain with a girlfriend who keeps getting flirted with
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: sylvain jose gautier x fem!reader
tags: established relationship, jealousy, mention of sylvain being a flirt, character development/growth
Tumblr media
sylvain is very much used to flirting with girls and having them flirt back at him
but what he wasn't prepared for was how much people would flirt with you!
sylvain had scored someone as good looking as you, so it wasn't much of a surprise that people would occasionally flirt with you
but he really wasn't prepared for it…
he could stand right next to you and have guys ask you out to dinner or compliment you
for the first time, he started to realize how the boyfriends of those girls he always flirted with must've felt
sylvain vows to you to be more respectful in the future! he'll never flirt with a taken girl ever again! or any girl that isn't you!
sylvain gets all pouty and annoyed when those guys chat you up
he wraps an arm around you, but some of them are persistent
it's honestly such a wake up call for him
you can't help but chuckle whenever he gets like this
after you turn the boys down and they leave, you assure sylvain that you didn't even consider going out with them
and sylvain is really happy to hear it!
still, he'll stick around you closely whenever you go out, just in case someone might try their luck with you again…

Because I can’t finish or work on my WIPs to save my life, here’s some random Gautier headcannons that have been twirling in my brain (maybe some are things I’ve said before? I’m sleep-deprived I apologize):
Gautier hair gets darker (Matthias’s color) as they age
It is super rare for Gautier’s to have a daughter, but Sylvain’s first child is a girl
Gautier crests struggle to activate during battle (when I played houses Sylvain never used his crest, except during his first hit against Miklan…the pettiness of a Gautier crest lol)
Most Gautier’s have a hoe phase, which I think contributes to the cheaters being Sons of Gautier
even Matthias was not above this rule during the academy and Rodrigue and Lambert used to call his partners the ‘flavor of the week’
Sylvain doesn’t know this and Matthias will commit treasonous acts on Rodrigue if his son finds out lol
When angry enough, Gautiers have an expression that makes nearly everyone weak in the knees
The first time Rodrigue sees the expression on Sylvain is the first time he actually sees Matthias in the boys face (we all know Syl looks like his momma except for that hair/eyes)
Matthias and Miklan’s brick wall physique is actually not ‘standard’. It’s not uncommon but not a norm either

thinking so much about the way how crests and relics shaped everyone
not even in just the obvious ways, either. i mean personality-wise.
the descendants of fraldarius wield the aegis shield. every one of them is a protector — glenn in duscur, rodrigue at gronder, and felix in every moment of the war.
the descendants of gautier wield the lance of ruin. one way or another, they’re all “ruiners” or “destroyers” — matthias with his family, miklan with the villages he and his thieves went through, and sylvain with his relationships.
the descendants of daphnel wield luín. luín of celtchair is what it was likely named after, the lance of irish literature that was dangerous for wielder and foe alike, could light aflame in an instant if not doused. fiery, unpredictable, and unyielding, just as ingrid and judith are.
the descendants of riegan wield failnaught. they cannot afford to fail — duke riegan in the round table conferences, and claude in hiding his identity and changing the minds of those in his care as far as the view of foreigners go.
the descendants of gloucester wield thyrsus. thyrsus was the staff of dionysus, greek god of fruitfulness. both erwin and lorenz take their duties as nobles incredibly seriously — they need to be the best to protect their citizens and be the most fruitful territory in leicester to prove that their territory is doing well.
the descendants of goneril wield freikugel. freikugel got its name from the german romantic opera der freischütz, translating approximately to the freeshooter. in the play, the main character must prove he is a brilliant marksman and makes a deal with the devil to ensure it — the devil will give him 6 magic bullets that are guaranteed to hit any target they’re shot at and 1 bullet controlled by the devil itself. the gonerils are similar — upstanding nobles and citizens, yes, but one is gripped and controlled by sin, as hilda often succumbs to sloth.
the descendants of dominic wield crusher. they crush the things in their way — gustave crushed his family as they were in the way of him repaying his sins, baron dominic crushed the loyalty he had for the kingdom to protect his people, and annette crushed the obstacles in her way of reuniting with her father, both school-wise and not.
the descendants of lamine use the rafail gem. rafail is another spelling of raphael, the name of an archangel meaning “god has healed”. the known ancestors exhibit different aspects of the name — mercedes is a healer, and jeritza was molded to be the best servant he could be for thales, a higher power, just as raphael was created to be gods servant.
the descendants of charon wield thunderbrand. just as the name suggests, the wielders are quick and sharp as thunder, with catherine being sharp, fast, and fiery.
the descendants of blaiddyd wield areadbhar. areadbhar directly translates to “slaughterer” and was a spear in irish mythology that needed to be submerged in water to prevent it from igniting. this is similar to the blaiddyds we’ve seen — their incredible strength, yes, but their personality as well. lambert was set on a cause — relations with duscur — and it “ignited” him, so to speak. it was his prime motivation, and he could not be talked down from it. dimitri’s “ignition” was edelgard — until gronder, he would stop at nothing but getting her head or dying himself. rufus was ignited to take over the kingdom, even if that had just been cornelia’s voice in his head telling him to do so.
they all represent their relics and ancestors, even if you have to think a little bit to see it.

So did gautier speak spanish? Apparently not (in 1840) but he could understand it pretty well:
-although he reports an incapacity to pronounce the “jota” sound (which he says comes from the arab languages, interesting) and being frequently let down by his “dialogues for travelers” handbook, forced to rely on pantomime and his interlocutor’s intelligence; he could understand the language pretty well -> like that time he eavesdropped on two spaniards muttering to each other (he correctly thought they were speaking about him thinking he wouldn’t understand)
-while riding in the carriage he would note down phrases of interest/use. So his handwriting is frequently shaky and hard to decode. But there were some phrases he was really proud of and rewrote later in tidier handwriting. One of these was a pick up line: “quiere dar me* un beso my** hermosa señora, my alma querida.” -> “would you like to kiss me my beautiful lady, my beloved soul” (and there’s more, but the article I’m reading is from 1929, and the scholar refuses to transcribe the nsfw phrases gautier found useful enough to note in his notebook)(“i am obliged to stop citing here. Gautier was young in 1840 and curious to learn about everything.”)

There is something grand and beautiful about loving a statue; the love is perfectly disinterested, there is no fear of satiety nor conqueror's disgust, and you cannot reasonably hope for the miracle that happened to Pygmalion.

don't call her what you used to call me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: sylvain jose gautier x gn!reader
summary: you catch sylvain kissing another girl...
Tumblr media
you should've known this would happen. sylvain had always been a skirt chaser, long before the two of you started dating. he just couldn't help himself, always flirting with every girl in his way. he had been on dates with all of your friends before the two of you had started your relationship. and still, you thought you could change him. at least you wanted to believe that. maybe you knew deep down that this would happen. that he would eventually get bored and find the next girl.
and there she was, sitting next to him on a bench in the garden of the monastery. he didn't even try to hide it and instead take her to his room so you wouldn't see them. no, the two of them sat right here, where anyone could see them.
perhaps sylvain just liked the thrill of it, the idea of doing it in plain sight. the risk of getting caught by you.
you waited until the girl pulled away from his lips and took a look at her. but her face didn't ring a bell. she didn't seem to be one of the students here. maybe a girl he met at the market? or one of the servants from the dining hall?
you stepped closer, now filled with determination to confront sylvain. you had seen enough and wanted to hear what he had to say to you; what sort of lies he would try to come up with.
"sylvain–!"
you called out to him from a few feet away, causing the redhead to turn around to you. for a moment, the smile on his lips faded and panic seemed to set in. but this wasn't the first time he had been in this type of situation. just a moment later, that stupid grin of his was back on his lips as he got up, opening his arms to pull you in, only to get pushed away by you.
"who is she..?"
your voice sounded weaker than intended. you wanted to seem strong when confronting him, but you just couldn't hide how much it hurt.
"her?" sylvain tried to play dumb to gain some more time to think about his reply. "she's just a friend~" he brushed it off with a wave of his hand.
"you kissed her..!"
sylvain's guard dropped for a moment. he hesitated, before putting a hand on your shoulder.
"listen…she was sad and i just wanted to cheer her up. it's not that serious, alright?"
he was still smiling at you. he looked so calm while he was lying you right in the face!
"it is serious! you don't just kiss someone who is 'just a friend'! i would never kiss another guy, no matter the situation"
you paused. sylvain didn't say a word.
"we're done…"
you voice cracked and a quiet sob followed. you quickly covered your mouth with your hand, before turning away from the two, so sylvain wouldn't see the tears in your eyes.
you were so stupid for letting it get to this. so stupid for even falling in love with him in the first place. for thinking you would be different to him. you weren't.
"come on…" sylvain sighed and took a step towards you. "can't we… can we not talk about this first? you're making a decision you'll end up regretting…"
"i am making a decision i'll regret? what about when you shoved your tongue down her throat just moments ago, was that not something you regret? don't you even feel bad about it!?"
you had finally snapped. how could he talk to you like this, like he did nothing wrong. how could he always stay so calm? did he even care in the slightest about you or how this is making you feel?
"fine, i made a mistake. now I know it's wrong and i won't repeat it again. will you stop overreacting now?" sylvain seemed to get impatient, crossing his arms in front of his chest, sighing.
"overreacting..?"
you could hardly believe what he was saying. did he really expect you to just forgive him for making out with another girl?
"screw you, sylvain–!"
you huffed, glaring at the boy one last time, before you turned around. that was it. you wouldn't let him do this to you anymore. you were stupid enough to let it get to this, but you weren't dumb enough to stick around with him after this.
"Y/N–!"
you could still hear sylvain calling out your name, but you didn't turn around. you were leaving him for good.

You know how Dimitri’s crest gives him super strength? What do the other crests do? Or, if Dimi’s is the only one that has extra effects, why don’t the other crests do something?
I’d love to hear thoughts! A couple of mine are below for anyone interested. :)
Fraldarius:
It’s my personal belief that the Fraldarius crest is just as flashy as Rodrigue and Felix are in their dress. The crest manifests in nearly every Fraldarius ever born, much to Gautier’s annoyance, and it is able to activate more frequently than other crests. (When I played fe3h, Felix could activate that crest like no other and the fact that he has a major crest helped sparked these ideas)
Therefore, my thought is that Fraldarius crest gives its humans stamina/endurance/energy. The crest can go on and on and so can a Fraldarius. Why else can Felix spend his entire day at the training grounds? Boy’s body never gets tired. Downside: boy’s body doesn’t get tired. Sleep often eludes him simply because his body cannot stop even when his brain is so done it just wants to die.
Gautier:
On the flip side, the Gautier crest is just as stubborn as its bloodline. Moonlitboar shared the belief that Matthias was the fifth-born son and I love that idea and have accepted that as my own. (I claim no credit for the idea) It’s hard to manifest in children (Matthias was lucky to stop at two) and it doesn’t activate very often, even when you want it to. The crest’s only saving graces are that it allows the user to wield the hero’s relic and that it will activate on command or on its own when in near-death situations.
Therefore, my idea is that the crest gives (or forces, who knows) its humans a natural aptitude for things. Sylvain is often described as being super smart and being able to grasp difficult things with an ease other people cannot. It’s also said that he’s quite gifted in combat arts despite his lack of time spent at the training grounds. Downside: boy spends his time doing literally anything else. Fighting comes easy to him so why train?
I have a few thoughts bouncing around for Dominic and Daphnel. They aren’t nearly as fleshed out as Gautier and Fraldarius (can you tell I play favorites?) so I hesitate to give half-baked ideas. Happy to add them though if anyone wants to hear them!
