#gay demon and bi demon solidarity
Text
empires smp without context polls: answer key
part 1 [link]
local king is annoyed that a demon has the same accent as him - TRUE
in season 1, scott smajor is offended by the fact that the demon terrorizing half the server, xornoth, has a scottish accent like him. the two are, in fact, voiced by the same content creator and later revealed to be siblings. (x)
local historian uses wikipedia dialect to roast a badly disorganized bard - TRUE
in season 2, pixlriffs yoinks oli theorionsound's house and rebuilds it in his museum (long story, maybe i should have put that in the poll instead). in the process of making a perfect recreation, down to how the chests are organized, he comments at length on how he and the rest of academia may never understand why oli would put [insert item here] in a chest with [insert other item here]. (x)
two rulers do a prisoner exchange but tell same local assassin to kill the other - TRUE
in season 1, joey graceffa kidnaps lizzie ldshadowlady's axolotl knight sir strawberry; when she can't find the axolotl, she kidnaps joey's "tiger blood prince" villager instead. after arranging a prisoner exchange, lizzie and joey independently hire mythical j. sausage, fellow ruler and head of the assassins' guild, to kill the other ruler. sausage follows through by killing both of them. there is a whole song about this. (x)
thunder is when local sky god "claps his cheeks" - TRUE
season 2. the local sky god in question is joel smallishbeans. idk how to explain any further than that. that is all the context you need.
local princess has a magical girl transformation at night - TRUE
in season 2, katherine is a princess who also works as a monster slayer under cover of night. whenever she changes into her monster slayer outfit, she undergoes a magical girl transformation; when some of the hermits join her in her monster slaying one night during the crossover event, they get magical girl transformations too. (x)
local gay claims a woman is sexier than the (male) god living next door - (KIND OF) TRUE
in season 2, at the festival of the rift. i will admit it is very indirect and thus subjective to interpretation, but this conversation literally happened, and i quote:
lizzie: i heard there's some discount toys from the "sexy man". scott: wait, where's the "sexy man"? lizzie: *looks at joel, who is standing next to geminitay* right there. scott: gem?
and to whoever said this is true because joey's character is attracted to katherine's character, i would like to remind you that (1) pirate joe is canonically bi and not exactly gay, and (2) he does not live next door to a god.
there is a court case to determine if a character is a toy - (KIND OF) FALSE
in season 2, jimmy solidarity sues joel smallishbeans for copyright infringement (of all things), unauthorized use of one's image and defamation of character. he wins the case, but then pixlriffs (acting as judge) raises a second court case of "is solidaritygaming a toy?". jimmy immediately runs for it, so the court case technically never actually happened. (x)
someone thinks floating giant eyeball is actually a giant boob, literal big tit - TRUE
in season 1, while lizzie is visiting jimmy, they find a giant eyeball made from xornoth-corruption spying on the cod empire. lizzie is convinced that the giant eyeball is actually a demon boob, because according to her, she probably knows her anatomy well enough to tell. (x)
half the men have a dubious(?) crush on one (1) local fish - TRUE
the local fish in question is jimmy solidarity in season 1.
i have no idea what fwhip has going on with him (i have not watched fwhip's pov) but considering there is quite a bit of shipping in the fandom, i am assuming there is some basis in canon for the ship other than the classic rivals-to-lovers trope. see the replies and reblogs on this post i made for more details.
sausage is a canonical fishkisser, claims it is platonic, and shouts for jimmy to not tell scott. (x) (x)
as for scott, the episode "so i took him on a date…" should tell you everything you need to know - in this case, i would say it's straight-up canon, but to claim anything involving scott smajor is straight makes me want to backflip into an active volcano. also… just watch this livestream clip.
part 2 [link]
someone gets 200 anvils dropped on them and is forced to wear a big jester hat for it - TRUE
during the season 2 hermitcraft crossover, the hermits and empires rulers play a game of multiverse tag where a player has to kill someone from the other server using a randomly generated method. the player who is "it" has to wear a big jester hat to designate this. impulsesv drops 200 anvils on scott smajor using a big contraption on the nether roof. it is phenomenal.
local guy wears his own sibling as jewelry - TRUE
in season 1, after trapping xornoth in a crystal, scott smajor spends a portion of the season wearing that crystal on a necklace. (x)
a creator gets accused of appropriating their own culture - TRUE
in season 2, sausage is the leader of sanctuary, which has a latin american theme and is english-spanish bilingual. some idiot in the youtube comments section says it is cultural appropriation for him to speak spanish and use latin music in his series. sausage the content creator is cuban and clowns on this idiot in a livestream. this isn't necessarily plot relevant but i must inform you this has, unfortunately, actually happened.
local assassin is also a therapist and advertises this after committing 2 murders - TRUE
the assassin in question is mythical j. sausage in season 1; he advertises how he also works as a therapist after killing both lizzie and joey during their prisoner exchange which i mentioned in poll 1 (x).
local man kisses a llama because a witch thought it would be funny - TRUE
in season 2, scott considers turning his tavern-keeper llama owen into a human and asks local witch shelby for help. shelby makes a potion but it does not work instantly, so shelby tells scott to try the "frog prince" method (and he does), but admits she did so because she thought it would be funny and not because she thought it would work. seriously, if i hear one more comment about the taste of llama spit, i think i will just deactivate my internet access. (x)
one prophecy literally just says "a short king will rise." - TRUE
in season 1, lizzie flips through a book of prophecies and one of the prophecies listed in it actually says this, quoted verbatim. (x)
local goddess is called "st. bitch" - TRUE
this one, i admit, has some misleading wording. pearlescentmoon is a goddess in empires season 2 and in spanish, she is called santa perla. during the hermitcraft crossover, bdubs mispronounces this as santa perra, in which perra means "female dog". you do the math from there. (x)
local man crashes his own funeral during the end of the world - FALSE
this is technically of the "canon but a bit to the left" variety. in the season 1 finale, jimmy solidarity announces that fwhip died in an explosion (the catalyst to the end of the world, long story, there is a prophecy and everything) during a gathering at spawn. everyone is shocked but then fwhip shows up at spawn at that moment. so no one crashes any funerals in season 1. nor season 2, for that matter. (x)
one creator actively makes local fan's job harder by flirting with everyone - TRUE
the creator in question is mythical j. sausage. the fan in question is @/sgorbyx and their job in question is The Chart™️. and it is legendary. see here for jimmy solidarity reacting to The Chart with evidence that sausage is a Menace.
annotation: i'm sorry i can't do timestamps for all the links; on the day i post this, i just spent the past day packing and i am going overseas tomorrow, so i'm really on a time crunch rn. anyways watch empires smp

Do you think straight women are homophobic? Why only talk about bis?
duh i think straight women are homophobic, majority of them are literal demons to gay people. the reason i highlight homophobia from bisexuals is because it is rarely talked about due to the fact that bisexuals are also ssa so many of them assume they have a free pass to be as homophobic as they want and they just seem to get away with it. lots of homosexuals just accept mistreatment from bisexuals and think they have to shut up and take it in the name of “ssa solidarity”. it’s really easy in the first place for homosexuals to be walked over (due to being a small percentage of the population) by what’s the largest group in the lgb. i got so tired and fed up with sitting back and biting my tongue at the homophobia i witnessed and experienced from bisexuals so that’s what inspired me to focus on it, because if i don’t who will. the homophobia gay people face from bisexuals is just as common and detrimental to the gay community as the homophobia that straight people diss out against us.

spent like 2 hours on this fb comment reccing black sails to a friend asking for tv show recs so i might as well post it here to save it for the future lol:
you should watch black sails!!!
to describe it.. its easy to start off by pitching it as a show about gay pirates as a way to appeal to a lot of people ive tried to get to watch it, but also, even if theres 4 main explicitly lesbian/gay/bi characters (plus side characters and one main character whos implied to be and written by the creators as deeply closeted) i think that can be reductive and doesn't do justice for what its really about. its a show about a lot of different people who've been marginalized to the outskirts of society, whether that be by class, race, gender, or sexuality. its about their different choices between trying to find a space they can survive within capitalism & colonialism though compromise and being collaborators with empire, and fighting for a better world, and the personal conflict of trying to to figure out how much domesticity one is willing to sacrifice when there is an immediate need for revolution.
it's also technically a prequel to treasure island, but that's not really something you have to worry about too much (if you've read treasure island before don't think about it too hard, and if you haven't, honestly that's how i went in and i think watching the whole show and only after i really got into it reading treasure island was a great way to engage with it, but you don't even need to do that). not to sound obnoxious but its like... a deconstruction of the idea of a prequel. and that ties into some of the other big themes of the show of narratives. the violence of how marginalized people are erased from history, how empire uses stories to demonize revolutionary violence while making invisible the violence needed to perpetuate capitalism and colonialism, and how different people use their personal narratives to justify benefiting themselves at the expense of others or to understand the necessity of building solidarity with people with other life experiences with oppression, and how ones personal history when combined with how one internalizes cultural hegemony will inform people's decisions even if they refuse to consciously look back on and narrativize their life.
my few caveats are that i wish that they did a more sensitive job with a plot line where one of the main characters, a black woman, is sexually assaulted (fortunately this plot line is over within the first part of the first season and there is no other sexual violence in the show), that i wish it had more writers and directors of color involved with it, esp black and indigenous creators, and that while it did go a lot farther with its engagement with colonialism and imperialism than i had initially expected, it could have been even greater if it had had a season 3.5 to flesh out some of its ideas and characters it was able to introduce at that point in the story.
but beyond that i really think its one of my favorite shows i've ever watched and theres just so so much to dissect within it. it was planned out from the beginning and always knew exactly where it was going to end, and there's so much care put into its dialogue and themes. it does require a bit of trust though, while on rewatch the amount of care put into everything even in early seasons is very clear, if you're wary from past experiences with shows with superficial similiarities, it might seem on the surface as if it is doing something more typical and is uncritically propogating imperialist/individualist/liberal reformist ideology. but even with that caution i had watching for the first time with no one giving me disclaimers like this i still had so much fun watching early seasons!!! and it only gets better from there!!!
sorry to write so much lol. i just really love it. would love to hear from anyone reading this if you decide to watch it!

By the way regarding the whole bi lesbian thing. The same group of bioessentialist radfem lesbians are the divisive and antagonistic party in both scenarios
Bi lesbian arose out of biphobic sentiments which had the idea that bisexual women were lesser than because they were less gay than real lesbians and saw women having sex with men as an inherently subservient and lesser act.
These are the same bioessentialist "men are evil" arguments that are targeted at trans people today which demonize trans women for "infiltrating" and trans men for "abandoning womanhood"
If your understanding of sexuality prioritizes sexual attraction and behaviour as solely and primarily political you're not leaving room for nuance and pleasure and solidarity between queer groups. I'm not gay because I'm against the patriarchy.
The real goal is to dismantle the patriarchy which does not mean killing men. Read some bell hooks or something I swear to christ

just a little rant feel free to ignore
someone I follow just rbed a post with HUGE panphobic undertones about how the only reason there’s pan discourse is because pan people “can’t read” properly. apparently “people” (cmon just say pan people we know that’s what you mean) are misinterpreting the bisexual manifesto and ruining it. and the op is in the comments telling pan ppl to “examine why they want to id as pan” which is such bullshit like people would lose their shit if we said that to a bi person but apparently it’s okay to tell us? It’s this whole idea that pan grew out of hatred for bi when in reality the two grew together in mutual solidarity. op was like “they mean the same thing so examine why you want to Id as pan” I’ll tell you why! Because it just feels more right! That’s it! Asking queer people to prove themselves because we’re not the kind of queer they want is just so fucking despicable and I kind of just want to scream right about now. I don’t care that there’s overlap between bi and pan I prefer pan that’s IT! And the implication that there’s like this massive push amongst the pan community to demonize bi people is like. The most blatantly untrue bullshit I’ve literally only ever seen pans be overwhelmingly supportive of their bi siblings but they can’t afford us the same fucking courtesy and I’m so sick and tired of it. So fucking done.
whew preach. i wouldn't even say that has panphobic undertones, it's just outright panphobic. and like, there are plenty of people who misinterpret the bi manifesto, but it's sure as shit not pan people lmfao. and ya gotta love the ableism in using "you can't read" as an insult.
i really hate when panphobes tell us to "examine" this or that. because it's condescending as fuck, and never comes from a place of good faith or support or even directed at people who actually believe in biphobic misconceptions. it's always "you need to examine why you identify as pan to uncover your obvious underlining biphobia because pan is inherently biphobic" directed at pan people in general. and fuck that. fuck them.
it's like when folks who solely identify as queer are asked why they identify as queer instead of gay. it's like who the fuck do you think you are to ask queer people to explain or prove themselves and their identities. and who the fuck are you to position one queer identity as the inherent or more understandable identity that those weirdo queers deviate from.
we could so easily turn their logic around on them and they would lose their fucking shit, but would maintain it's bad when directed at them because they're the good queers who don't deserve it, and good when it's directed as us because we're the bad queers who do deserve it. god i hate panphobes lmao
but i'm sorry someone you followed shared that panphobic shit. and i'm sorry it upset you. we deserve better.

while I’m feeling frisky
asexuals and aromantics are and always have been a part of the lgbt+ and queer communities. trans people are the backbone of the queer community and any attempt to push them out is terf and radfem propaganda. passing privilege is fake and bi and pan people are exactly as queer as they always are no matter what relationship they are (or aren’t) in. neither bisexuality or pansexuality are inherently bigoted and neither have a set definition, people identify with one vs the other based on the communities that they personally found themselves in, there’s no reason to demonize one group vs the other or try to gatekeep who can use which label. some people personally use the split attraction model and some people don’t and it’s not your place to police who does what with their labels (if an aromantic person identifies Only as aromantic then that’s their right, if an allo person identifies as gay and bi then that’s their right, it doesn’t matter what you think their identity “should be” because their identity is for them).
pronouns are gender presentation meaning anybody can use any pronoun and it has no baring on their identity unless they want it to, this includes people using multiple pronouns, neopronouns, people using pronouns that you personally think contradict their other labels (they don’t), etc etc etc. you don’t have to have dysphoria to be trans and you don’t have to transition to be trans, if someone says they’re trans then they are. we don’t do anyone any favors by trying to gatekeep medical transitioning, making it harder to get what we need only hurts the trans community more and it literally does not matter how other people choose to present (if a cis man wants tits then he should be allowed to have them, if a nonbinary person wants a flat chest then they should be allowed to have one).
intersex people and polyamorous people belong in the queer and lgbt+ community for the same reason that everyone else does, they deserve solidarity as well as a community to help them push for their rights in a society that discriminates against them. nonbinary people are inherently trans and they’re also not a monolith, nonbinary isn’t just a third gender and there are Multiple identities and presentations that can fall under the label (there isn’t one nonbinary look or name or presentation or agab). moreover trans people can be neither binary trans Or nonbinary (with multiple other labels being available (like agender, genderqueer, gender fluid, genderfuck, etc) or with a label they created for themselves). gnc people exist everywhere in every kind of person and ignoring their existence can lead to ignorant takes that ultimately do more harm than good.
people don’t Owe you access to information about them, if someone only openly identifies as queer or if they give you partial information about their identity or if they’re open with some people but not others or if they’re not out at all that is their right, making assumptions about people or getting angry that you aren’t being hand delivered everything about them is fucked up. labels can be messy and fluid and hard to grasp, people can change their identities any time they want whenever they want, they can have multiple conflicting identities, they can create new terms to better describe their feelings, they can play around with terms already available to them to create something that feels right, we’re here to have fun and be happy not to look presentable to heteronormative cishet society.
and finally, oppression isn’t a competition and gatekeeping people from the community or Within the community based on arbitrary oppression points that you made up is actively harmful and very often overtly bigoted. communities exist for the sake of the individuals in them, not to create a new different social hierarchy where you get to put yourself at the top. literally just be nice to people

I have had a Thought
transmasc/ace solidarity: being infantilized and/or demonized, whatever is more convenient in the moment
bi/aro(allo)/transfem/wlw/mlm solidarity: being demonized and/or sexualized, whatever is more convenient in the moment
(usually closeted) lesbian/aroace girl/aro-allo girl/straight trans guy solidarity: sO wHeN aRe YoU gEtTiNg a BoYfRiEnD
(usually closeted) gay guy/aroace guy/aro-allo guy/straight trans girl solidarity: WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND YET
aspec/nonbinary/nondysphoric trans/mspec solidarity: being called both a dumb internet trend that isn't real and also scary evil invaders
mspec/trans/polyam solidarity: having ur identity being seen as a fetish
"solidarity" isn't really the right word but like. yk what i mean. "we both experience these things, though maybe or maybe not for different reasons, and we can sympathize with each other in this way".
feel free to add ur own, exclusionists don't breath on this post

1. I love talking sexuality and gender - I knew I liked men in a distinctly Not Straight way WAY before I figured anything else out, and I didn't realize trans men existed, so I figured I had to be ace or bisexual [both really wonderful things to be! and I really feel like spending time in both of those communities was great, even if neither wound up applying to me, I have a very strong appreciation for them both] but re: bisexuality especially it was wild bc I was NUTS for men but just like 'well girls are objectively attractive and I'm definitely queer so I MUST be into them right. Thinking someone's conventionally pretty is TOTALLY the same as wanting to kiss them right?' and basically talking myself into it and being like 'yes wanting to be friends with this girl is definitely romantic&sexual the same way I've been thinking about the hot guy down the hall I actually wanna bone is' and like I refused to call myself gay bc I felt like that was a disservice to how much I really, REALLY loved men, and I basically spent the entire time I ID'd as a cis bi lady getting hugely annoyed with the shitty 'all women and like one man' "jokes" and the way attraction to men was so demonized, when I saw it as something so beautiful and fulfilling, and getting very up in arms over people being shitty to bi guys, etc. and then.. GENDER REALLY WAS THE MISSING PUZZLE PIECE like I figured out I was a guy and EVERYTHING clicked into place it was WILD. and it makes so much sense! I've always loved men in a distinctly gay way I just didn't understand WHY. [Also lowkey feel like I've gone through a rather inverted but still very similar experience some cis gay guys [and many other people!] go through where they like, feel friendship & companionship towards a woman and go "ah yes this must be what society means by Attraction To Women" and then having to learn that uh, no, not exactly babe. WILD.]
2. Also [sorry this is so long!] wanted to say I really kind of love how being queer fucks with gender even if you're like technically a cis gay guy, because of the societal constructs around gender and masculinity and sexuality and all of that, bc I really feel that! Team 'othered by society' baby! There's so many of us and there's so much solidarity and connection and understanding to be found! It just made me feel very optimistic for a minute.
I resonate so hard with all of this! Anon how did you get inside my thoughts and head

Before you go to an lgbt event with a sign that says something like “I’d rather eat cake” or “asexuals don’t give a fuck”...
Remember that in many places, homosexuals and bisexuals can be, have been, and are being arrested and charged for “giving a fuck” because of the laws against same-sex sexual relations. These laws probably existed in your country before they were struck down.
Remember that to homophobes, “giving a fuck” is the worst and most disgusting, depraved, and immoral thing somebody can do if it’s with the same sex.
Remember that those homophobes would very much prefer it if homosexuals “would rather eat cake”. In fact, they put people through abusive therapy to try to make them not attracted to the same sex. If they came out of that abuse saying they’d “rather eat cake”, the homophobes would be overjoyed.
Remember how demonized homosexual sex is, and how it is often the basis of homophobia. Homophobes hate that homosexuals and bisexuals have sex with their same sex. They only see us as walking deviants. They see a soup commercial with two men playing fathers and immediately think of “blasphemy”. If gay and bi people “would rather eat cake”, and “didn’t give a fuck”, that would solve the main problem homophobes have.
Remember that “giving a fuck” is exactly what homophobes hate about gay and bi people. That it’s exactly what disgusts them. That they desperately want us to just prefer cake, because then they wouldn’t have to be reminded of “immoral acts” when they see two women holding hands.
Remember that your stupid signs ignore all of this, and display exactly the oppression and persecution people like you have never had to face, unlike the people who the event you are at is made by and for.
Remember that when you hold a sign that says “I’d rather eat cake” or “don’t give a fuck”, thinking you’re clever, and thinking you’re brave for displaying to the world how you don’t do exactly what the people around you may have been belittled for... you look ridiculous and tone deaf next to the people who could be legally persecuted if they held a sign with the opposite message in the wrong country.
Remember that the homophobes don’t care about you. They see your signs and think “cool, good, great”. They literally could not care less about you wanting cake over sex, or about you not giving a fuck. What they care about is the gay and bi people who do give a fuck (I’m absolutely not going to make a “want sex over cake” comparison, because that’s not actually how it works...), and they care about making sure those gay and bi people know how disgusting and immoral they are for doing so.
Remember that these signs alone are a perfect demonstration of why you don’t need to be considered lgbt, and why you have never and will never needed an event like pride, or any other lgbt event.
Because of this, I will never feel any sense of solidarity towards anyone who holds one of these signs. You don’t get it, and frankly you look incredibly disrespectful.

(part 2) that we had to have hetero sex. That it was our duty, to protect the hets who wanted to fuck us from suicide. Including dog piling on 15 and under kids on whether they'd take dick, if not why not, or for gay boys the same about pussy. And some of these kids did have straight sex as a result, and found it traumatising. But if you talked about that, then you were one of those evil gays, you deserved to die. That's preditory and low-key pedophilic. But if I talk about it it's biphobia
I'm really sorry you were put through that and I think that lesbians have every reason to be critical of bisexual women when so many of us have been complicit in this. It's not biphobic, if anything THEY'RE the ones who jumped at the first opportunity to call themselves lesbians because they're so desperate to be anything other than bisexual women and don't want to accept that's what they are and in the process they've demonized and hurt the actual lesbians and caused damage that can't be undone. Overall there HASN'T been any meaningful solidarity from the B to the L and I while I think bi women need to be talking about this and figuring out how to reach our own people, I don't think that the B is ever really going to be above suspicion as an ally to the L and I don't think it should be either. And bi women have no business crying biphobia when lesbians talk about this as if hurt feelings are somehow of equal importance to gay teenagers being pressured to engage in heterosexual sex.

- awwww sisters supporting sisters
- redemption arc time 🙄
- not bad, still wish we had some idea of the relationship that abby and harper have
- I love jane so much
- john needs to give them his therapists number asap
- that was kinda anticlimactic? Idk they built it up so much and then in two scenes made it all magically poof away
- like not even just the blantant homophobia? just the classism and general superiority complex? POOF!
- oh okay, that's a nice touch with the politician lady
- janes outfits are great too
- okay john and janes are my favorites
- lesbian christmas song? yes please
- overall not terrible but not interested in watching it again

Stop the belief that misidentifying with a sexual/gender orientation is a “hurdle” or a “setback” in your journey of finding your true identity and instead realize that misidentification is a common consequence of living in a culture where being cis and straight is supposed to be a norm and  access to any information and resources about the existence of non cis and straight identities is quite limited and restricted by one’s peers, institutions etc
Stop blaming and demonizing already marginalized communities for your misidentification when all they did was accept you and provide you a safe space to discuss your experiences and explore your identity. Its not their fault that you didnt feel like you belonged with them.
It's not bi/pan people's fault that you identified with their label because of your internalized homophobia
It's not asexual people's fault that you identified with their label because of your internalized homophobia
Its not trans/non binary/gender fluid/agender people's fault that you identified with their label because of your internalized homophobia or your issues with the gender roles imposed on you
Its not lesbian/gay people's fault that you identified with their label because of your internalized transphobia
There's nothing wrong with misidentification. There's nothing wrong with exploring your identity. Hold the cis heternormative society and institutions accountable for your misidentification instead of invalidating the existence of identities which give thousands of people to around the world comfort and solidarity just bc you had a bad experience with them.
