this is my favorite "iroh interacts with the gaang" moment in the whole show. because he isn't kind, or encouraging, or imparting gentle wisdom. he literally just snaps at her, even though he doesn't even know her. except.... he does know her. because he's spent the past three years on that fucking ship, and he can immediately recognize that she and zuko are kindred spirits. doesn't even know her name but he can sense her Incorrigible Nephew vibes from just a single look and he's already fed up with her.

Ok so we’re all in agreement that post canon when everything’s chill Jeong Jeong and Piandao are living their best cottagecore-but-mansion lives, and we all love the ‘Aang tells JJ about the Sun Warriors and Piandao convinces him to go see it for himself (cuz he def doesn’t believe it)’ idea BUT might I now suggest:

what if he spends longer there than Aang/Zuko/Iroh did to learn more and finds out that they have healers too. Fire Healing is a technique that exists similar to the more known Water Healing, but it’s existence got buried as one of the many secrets of Firebending forgotten with the Warriors themselves. What I’m saying is Jeong Jeong returns and spends years practicing (still terrified of burning someone who’s already hurt) and exchanging letters with both the healers he met and Yugoda until he’s mastered it, eventually becoming the Fire Nation’s first known Bending-Healer. And then perhaps at Iroh or Zuko’s suggestion he teaches it to (a stable to the point where she wants to better herself but can’t figure out how) Azula. Healing with fire is more difficult then with water and as a new art is still a rare skill by Korra’s time, but Jeong Jeong and Azula learning it and teaching it to others is how we eventually get this: (perhaps zuko has it become an essential technique for Fire Sages to learn?)

(Disclaimer I haven’t seen tlok yet so idk what else happens in this scene other then a woman using fire to figure out what’s wrong with korra)

So yes this whole post is just about the two Firebenders we never got healing arcs for becoming their nation’s first healers and both learning the essential truth that fire is more than death and destruction or rage and suffering <3

I have to say, it's wild how many zutaras I have ended up following over the past couple of years. I personally can't ship zutara because once I started viewing Zuko's relations with Jin and Mai through the lense that he was gay (and actually Mai through the lense that she was a lesbian and that this dynamic added to the apathy we see between the two of them), I've been unable to view him any other way. Zuko being gay has little canon standing outside of subtext that LGBTQ+ fans have read into his narrative, which makes sense for a show from 2005, but since I've accepted that interpretation of the narrative, any long term relationships with women for zuko throw me off. (Personally I most like the idea that he was a single dad raisin Izumi like iroh was with Lu Ten, maybe even having adopted Izumi.)

But I have to say, zutaras have such good metas about zuko, it's straight up undeniable that they get his character and his dynamics with the gaang.

The gaang and the fire nation girls + favourite/ least favourite ice cream flavour

ok well I don’t eat sugar or dairy, and i never particularly liked ice cream anyway, so my knowledge of ice cream flavors is extremely limited. that said, I am not one to pass up a challenge, so I shall try my best to answer this difficult and complex topic with as much care and nuance as I can...

aang is partial to lychee sorbet, but as the only non-lactose intolerant member of the gaang, he enjoys every other flavor equally. except for pistachio. fuck pistachio.

katara likes cookies n cream with extra oreo chunks sprinkled on top, and thinks that bubblegum is the devil’s flavor.

sokka likes mango sorbet. he likes lemon sorbet. and he likes drizzling olive oil and salt onto plain vanilla (which, yes, is a thing I have known people to enjoy).

toph doesn’t like ice cream because her teeth are sensitive to cold things. she doesn’t understand how anyone can tolerate brainfreeze.

zuko likes mochi, the most elegant and beautiful way to eat ice cream, and dislikes soft serve, the most crude and unrefined way to eat ice cream. frankly, anything in a cone is an abomination. the flavor doesn’t even matter so much as the packaging.

suki likes cookie dough. it’s like going on an adventure while you eat. she thinks whatever sokka is doing with vanilla ice cream is an abomination and refuses to even try it.

mai likes big ol banana split sundae with every topping imaginable she likes all sorbet and pretty much any flavor she just loves sweet foods. but there is one flavor she simply cannot stand and it is rum raisin. her enemy.

azula will eat anything that contains chocolate. she also really likes dulce de lece. she would never admit this to anyone. liking junk food is a weakness, MAI.

ty lee knows that sugar is like baby meth, and thus doesn’t touch the stuff.

😭😭😭😭😭 anywayyy other than this here’s a list of some of my favorite bi sokka moments split up into categories! ⬇️

Very bisexual moments:

- the zoom in on sokka grabbing zuko’s arm in TBR (and literally all of the times that he unnecessarily touched him and grabbed him, like bro- lmao)

- literally his entire obsession with the boulder 💀

- sokka blushing when Chan hugged him

- when he said “smells manly” and stared at that shirtless runner 😭

- sokka just short-circuiting when Zuko did that breathing fire thing in the cooler

- sokka stumbling over his little speech while showing Zuko to his room, and his little smileee, and the way he kind of stopped to turn back and look at Zuko again then smiled to himself as he left *giddy leg kicks*

- and of course

All these little gay moments in the comics, lol

Things Sokka did that aren’t inherently bisexual…but are very bisexual:

- kyoshi warrior sokka!! (and the implication that he kept the dress bc he was still wearing it when they left Kyoshi island )

- his little jumpy claps when he gets excited about shopping 🥰🛍️

- him being so indecisive over whether or not he should get the bag to go with his belt, bc we all know bisexuals can’t make a choice to save their life (saying this as a bisexual myself, lol)

- OK I LOVE THIS ONE, at the very beginning of the Southern Raiders episode when Azula attacked, sokka had his hair down right? So they take off on Appa and his hair is still down, because that’s what makes SENSE. So then Zuko’s dumbass jumps off of the temple and ends up falling off of the airship; when they Gaang flies back around to catch him, SOKKA’S HAIR IS UP, then it cuts to Azula, and when it clicks back and Zuko is safe on Appa, HIS HAIR IS BACK DOWN AGAIN 😭 is this technically just an animation error? yes maybe, but will I pretend in my mind that Sokka got nervous around Zuko and couldn’t decide if he wanted to have his hair up or down (or thought he looked better with it down and wanted Zuko to think he looked nice too) so that is what I will continue to believe :)

Bonus:

- the most recent addition to this list, apparently right after Sokka straight up told Aang to leave Zuko in the snow to die… he held him in his lap so he wouldn’t fall off of Appa when they took off 🥲

atla but it's slow burn zukaang from the start.

at the end of season 1 aang begs zuko to let him go bc he has a tribe to save. zuko lets him.

season 2 sees zuko and aang in ba sing se at the same time and unbeknownst to the rest of the gaang they strike up a (very gay) friendship during that time which makes zuko's betrayal at the end of the season so much worse.

in season 3 zuko struggles w thinking he killed aang and realises he fell in love w him in ba sing se or maybe even before but oh god aang is dead bc of him.

oh nvm aang's not dead but also bc the betrayal felt so much worse than it did in the actual show aang now lowkey hates him (actually hes also in love w zuko but he doesn't want to get his heart broken again).

ok but aang needs a firebending teacher tho and zuko is the only firebender who's offering so like... does aang have a choice???

in the fire bending masters when zuko and aang have their adventure together... the tension omg...

THE EMBER ISLAND PLAYERS PLAYS UP THE RELATIONSHIP ZUKO AND AANG HAD IN BA SING SAY SO ITS LIKE. GENUINELY SO GAY. AND THIS IS ALSO THE FIRST TIME THE GAANG FINDS OUT AANG AND ZUKO WERE EVEN SPENDING TIME TOGETHER IN BA SING SE
