WW2 Propaganda story board: 1943

Drawn by mysterious artist, S. Grant, depicting Captain America protecting a soldier, who thanks him for the bullets he gave him. In a footnote, Captain America replies: "Don't thank me, thank your best gal, who bought series E defense bonds!"

Later heavily criticized for its homoerotic subtexts, it stirred controversy in the 1950s as the artist was connected to be Captain America himself. The paranoia died down with the lavender scare and the drawing reemerged in the 90s, staying in the Smithsonian archives until 2013, after which it was reported stolen.
