Sometimes taking care of yourself is about anticipating your own dumbassery.
For example, today I noticed my nail polish remover was next to my mouthwash. I frequently brush my teeth when tired. I moved it before the obvious mistake could happen.
But that's an extreme example! Sometimes it's about putting your meds next to your bed because you're always too tired to go get them. Putting your gel pens next to your calendar so you'll actually write on it. Putting your sneakers closer than flip flops because then maybe you'll go for a walk.
I've been thinking a lot recently about what it means to tailor your environment. It doesn't come naturally to me, so it never feels obvious, even though afterwards I'm like oh, that was so obvious. And I think part of it is because for so long I haven't had control over my environment even when I really needed it. Schools (at least in the states) are notorious for not accommodating students, and that's what it was like for me. So often I had/have to pick the option that hurt me so I could adapt to my environment, and so it rarely occurs to me to adapt my environment even now that I have some control over it.
So it's something I'm working on. Taking the wrist brace with me when I know I'll be writing. Putting fruit snacks and crackers in strategic locations because I'll forget to eat. Moving that chair I always tripped on so I stop tripping on it.
What does it mean to shape your space to suit you? What does it mean to anticipate your needs?
What if you treated yourself like the most beloved five year old in the world? How would you change your environment?

What art program and brushes do you use?
I use Procreate but have only done so for the past year or two. My older work is done mostly in Clip Studio Paint.
As for brushes, I vastly prefer traditional mediums over digital, so I tend to use brushes that feel like my beloved pens (I tend to crank the stability wayyyyy down from the default on pretty much every brush I use as well).
- Joe's Brush Set 3 for Procreate <- My absolute favourite and most beloved brush set. It is about $10 for 23 brushes (fineliners, pencils, and bigger wash brushes). The textures are so good and natural and it is SO worth the purchase for the fineliners and pencils especially. - The Rusty Nib -- True Grit Texture Supply <- $24 for like 130 brushes. tons of great ink brushes. huge fan of The Crumb Pen specifically. A great pick for people who don't really know what they want but know they want a nice pen. - The stock Procreate Gel Pen brush <- my go-to doodling brush. If you are a Procreate user and want to know the adjustments I made to it, they are under the cut.
I don't use a screen protector, but I DO use this metal nib on my apple pencil [PenTips Ink]. It makes horribly loud clicking noises against the screen when you draw. The metal also makes it CRAZY slippery on the screen, which I absolutely hate. However, the tip comes to a much finer point than on the stock apple pencil nib and somehow this outweighs the cons to me. 10/10 five stars definitely should purchase if there is something wrong with you in the head as well.
Anyway thanks for the ask!
Procreate Gel Pen adjustments: Dynamics Speed: - Size: Max -> 35% - Opacity: 62% -> 30% Jitter: - Size: None -> 52% - Opacity: None -> Max

Just been thinking about Nepeta lately, I don't really know why but I have. Anyway this idea popped into my head for some reason, and so I drew it and I quite like how it came out. I really like how soft it looks :)

Happy Clone Wars Friday!
I just had to redraw the gorgeous full-page ending panel of Star Wars’ weirdest comic. It was a great opportunity to work with my beloved Yupo paper. Yupo is a difficult paper to use since it is extremely smooth so doesn’t absorb wet media at all, but as a result you can get interesting, unpredictable pooling effects. With a lot of layering and patience, as much wrestling with the media as cooperating with it, I finally got something I’m proud of. Here is another angle that better shows the shine of the acrylic ink and gel pens on the Yupo surface; you can also see a bit of my color testing space on the right of the page:
Tumblr media
There’s a lot to love about Michael Murnane’s extravagant concluding panel: it’s the most imaginative take on Mustafar I know of, and the abstract colors and eerie details make outer space look more alive than any Jedi’s pretty words ever could. But my favorite thing about it is it gives the best reason to see Episode III: for the final fate of Wat Tambor!
Media: Yupo Medium, Copic Multiliners, acrylic ink, Tombow Dual Brush Pens, gel pens, carving tools, blood and tears
“Wat Tambor and the Quest for the Sacred Eye of the Albino Cyclops,” found in “Star Wars: Visionaries.” Dark Horse. March 16, 2005. Writer and artist: Michael Murnane.
🎨🎁DSWCP ART TRADE!🎁🎨
This is an open invitation to all other Star Wars fans and artists! If you redraw any Star Wars comic panel or official art (browse DSWCP’s archive here for a ton of options) and submit it or tag me, then I will share your art here. In return, I’ll draw any Star Wars character you request!
You can also feel free to make fanart based on a panel/official art, or change it around in a creative way (costume swap, different dialogue, coloring it in, etc.). All skill levels and media are welcome.
If anyone actually does this, I’ll be over the freaking moon and probably print your art out and tape it to my fridge. Go ahead, make my day!

Hair Day
Characters: Niragi Suguru, Chishiya Shuntaro, Hatter, Last Boss
Genre: Crack. Niragi stole Chishiya's hair.
1.7k words
I did it. I have made a fic based on the cursed Niragi pic. It's.... very chaotic, @niragis-right-hand-rabbit.
Do I know how hair works? Barely, but hey, it's gotta work somehow.
Also look, I did it. Yes I had to slap normal bean on top of cat bean but I tried. A real shame the strand is on the wrong side though I forgot to edit it out and it's too late for me to put it on the correct side.
Oh yeah, and there's a little hint of sleep drugging. Just a tad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Niragi stares at the empty container with pure disdain in his eyes, hair loose after a couple of days without his beloved hair gel. Sure, it’s left his hair decently soft enough and nobody has really noticed the distinct lack of shine when he pulls his hair up every morning, but he missed the smell and feel.
He runs his hand through his hair, still a little knotted after he slept, but nothing a brush couldn’t handle. Niragi squints at himself in the mirror, his hair falling in front of his face and framing it in a way that reminded Niragi of a certain someone. He tries to tuck one side out of the way, but it falls back inevitably like a stubborn thorn in his cheek. Pausing, Niragi stares at himself in the mirror, thinking to himself as he leaned closer before he got a rather ridiculous idea.
Standing up proud and straight, he ties it back as he always did, making sure to brush extra well so no hairs would fall out of his bun, even sliding a few pins in the back to properly secure it. With a pleased grin, he leaves the bathroom and grabs his rifle from where he left it on the bed, positioning it over his shoulder and heading out for the day for a quick patrol.
The hallways themselves were fairly empty, with the only real instances of noises being from within a few rooms, but Niragi didn’t bother to check inside every single one. He makes it down to the stairs and heads down with a whistle, flashing a smirk at a pair of women who were chatting in the stairwell. The girls stepped out of his way as he made his way down, their conversation halting until Niragi was at the bottom, their whispers rampant and echoing from above.
Niragi walks around until he makes it to the cafeteria, people already grabbing and eating breakfast. He doesn’t bother with sitting by any of the residing militants however today, his mind on something else. He instead grabs a bottle of strawberry milk from the fridge and some rice balls that one of the current kitchen workers handed him before rushing out with a sort of excited fire in his eyes.
Niragi slips into the medical bay whilst cramming a rice ball into his mouth, ignoring the nurse on duty as he goes towards the medicine cabinet. Sliding it open, he pushes aside bottles until he finds what he was looking for, shoving it into his pocket and running out, nearly knocking over the same nurse without so much as an apology.
Niragi shoves yet another rice ball into his mouth as he walked back to his room, pill bottle and milk in one hand and rice balls in the other. He sets the bottles down on the nightstand and takes a brief break to finish breakfast before starting on his silly little switcheroo mission.
Tumblr media
Niragi quietly hums to himself as he makes his way to Chishiya’s room, hoping the man was still in there. If he wasn’t, Niragi would just hunt him down anyways and drag him back in here whether the fried egg wanted to or not. Opening the door, he peeks inside.
Bingo.
Chishiya was sitting at his desk, with the only sounds being the scratching of pencil on paper. Niragi slips inside and shuts the door, coming over to the desk and setting the perfectly innocuous bottle of milk on the corner of Chishiya’s desk. The man barely even acknowledges him, Niragi staring at Chishiya in silence. One glance to the paper only showed Chishiya drawing a bunch of squares in a distorted array, with exactly one circle inside in red pen. “ What the fuck is that.”
“ Why are you in my room.”
“ Why do you care, hm?”
Chishiya slowly turns his head and shoulders to look up at Niragi blankly, and Niragi really wanted to just say fuck it with the drink and choke the little bitch until he was unconscious by his own hands.
“ ….. Do you need something?”
“ Yeah. Drink this.” Niragi taps the cap to the milk, Chishiya not even taking a single glance.
“ And if I don’t?” Chishiya blinks, cracking a lazy smirk. Niragi leans down and turns Chishiya’s whole body around until their noses and legs were nearly touching, Niragi licking the top of his lip as he grins.
“ Then I’m gonna make you drink it by force. So how about you use your brain and figure it out.” Niragi responds, Chishiya staring directly into his eyes without so much as a flinch. Chishiya clicks his tongue and flicks Niragi’s forehead, Niragi recoiling as Chishiya takes the bottle and inspects it, letting a small puff of air through his nose.
“ Strawberry, how quaint.” Chishiya twists the cap, the safety lock cracking without an issue. Chishiya looks back up at Niragi, who was watching him now with a blank expression, and toasts to nothing before turning back around in his chair and taking slow ample sips. Niragi backs away and heads into Chishiya’s connected bathroom, digging through his cabinets as he hears a soft thunk noise from the main room. Niragi preens internally with his plan working as he pulls a box out from the cabinet and sets them on the sink bench, along with a second box that he was hiding behind his back. Sure, it was now warm because of Niragi, but he didn’t think it would affect anything.
The local blackberry heads out and comes over to the table, Chishiya slumped over the desk unconscious. Never the wiser really, Niragi hoisting him out from the chair with not too much trouble as he drags him into the bathroom. Niragi leaves him in the bathtub and stares at his prone form for three whole seconds maximum before going back to rummage through Chishiya’s bathroom cabinets.
He finds a sizable plastic bag rolled up under the sink, as well as scissors and gloves, Niragi pleased that Chishiya kept them in reach so he didn’t have to go anywhere else.
Turning to the unconscious cat, Niragi’s grin grows wider as he approached with the bag.
Tumblr media
The man dutifully makes sure to leave the surfaces decently cleaned despite no real reason to do so, his hair covered in aluminum foils and plastic wrap. Chishiya remained completely and utterly unconscious in the bathroom, a plain plastic bag tied over his hair as the dye set in.
Niragi didn’t feel like staying around, itching to go take his shower and tone his hair as soon as he could. He slips out of the room without a sound and makes his way down the hall to his own room, not caring who saw him. The path was thankfully empty the entire way, Niragi ducking in and heading to the showers.
By the time he got out, put toner, waited got back in to finish, and got back out again, Niragi could tell Chishiya was probably going to find him sometimes soon. He’d be ready of course, Niragi quietly humming as he checked his hair in the mirror before leaving.
He passes by a few of the other militants, who stare at him in confusion. Niragi glances over at them and sticks his tongue out with a proud smile, striding past them before they could even get a word in, back on his mission to Chishiya’s room.
That is, until Last Boss approached him from buttfuck nowhere and dragged his now blond ass to the meeting room.
“ Hey what’s the rush?!”
Last Boss doesn’t bother with a response as he pushes the doors open, Hatter standing there as Chishiya slowly turns to Niragi with eyes of murder. Hatter, who apparently was dragged into this at some point, claps his hands together. “ Oh, I see now! Well then, if I may be so inclined to ask: What in the bright fuck is this.”
Niragi just runs his fingers through his hair, which he managed to style somewhat close to Chishiya’s normal hairstyle. “ I stole Chishiya’s hair because I ran out of hair gel.”
Hatter slowly nods, and Chishiya continued to stare directly at Niragi. Last Boss had dipped out completely the moment he completed his mission. Hatter turns to Chishiya, and brushes a finger through the shortcake’s newly blackened hair. “ And this?”
“ I stole Chishiya’s hair.” Niragi repeats. It wasn’t that hard to understand, really.
“…. I see. Well then, it certainly is something! If you had just told me I may have been willing to help, but the job here is rather phenomenal.” Hatter muses, then looks back to Niragi. “ Do you have a tie?”
Chishiya was already trying to move away when he knew something was up, but Niragi and Hatter were faster as Niragi tosses him a hairband, Hatter grabbing Chishiya’s shoulders and forcing him still, his other hand reaching up and brushing Chishiya’s hair back. Chishiya continues to look directly at a now grinning Niragi as Hatter tied Chishiya’s upper hair into a bun, and then patting said bun once he finished.
“ There you go you! You look…. better, in a way!” Hatter chirps
“ So! Chishiya, what where you doing with him, huh? Were you trying to complain to the manager?”
“ Don’t word it like that. And no, I was merely talking to him when he mentioned my apparently sudden hair change. So, Niragi, how did you do it.”
Niragi slowly rolls his head to the other side, repositioning his weight onto the other leg. “ Do… what.”
“ You slipped something into that milk, didn’t you.”
Niragi scoffs, rolling his eyes. “ Course I did.”
“ Yet the bottle was unopened.”
“ I’m not stupid, stupid. I have thoughts. I can problem solve.”
“ Sometimes.”
“ Oi, you take that back!”
Hatter chuckles, and puts a hand on Chishiya’s shoulder, pushing him forward until he reaches Niragi. Putting a hand on his shoulder as well, he pushes the both of them out of the meeting room. “ Ladies, ladies, no fighting~ If you need to, take it outside, maybe have a good martini or whatever. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to mentally process this look. Okay byyyyye!” Hatter shuts the door on the both of them, Niragi and Chishiya continuing to stare at each other.
“ You give me my hair back or else.” Chishiya whispers.
“ Or else…. what.” Niragi leans forwards, smirking. Chishiya just smirks back, eyes narrowing. “ You’ll see.”

Okay but hear me out, klance au where they still go to space and all that but this time kl were pen pals as kids 😭😭😭 extra points if they don’t realize until they’re way into the whole voltron thing
yoo this is such a good concept...
maybe keith wasn't too into the idea at the time, when every child at his new foster home was assigned a penpal. maybe he thought it was a waste of time. maybe he thought it was a joke that someone as closed off and disagreeable as himself got partnered with a penpal who was just so annoyingly sunny, who wrote all his letters in glittery blue gel ink and added little funny doodles in the corners, whose stories were long and detailed and never sounded dull.
but, maybe, keith was also drawn in by the boy's energy, by the stories he told. maybe he was reluctant to dim that happy, optimistic attitude. and so, he wrote back, every time. and maybe, just maybe, he begins to grow fond of his penpal.
and that's why, when keith leaves that home, he keeps writing letters. well, for a few foster homes, at least. but through all the moving around, especially once he meets shiro, it becomes kind of hard for him to keep track, and eventually, he loses touch with him. his penpal doesn't have keith's new address, and keith doesn't even know if his penpal's address is the same anymore.
he still thinks about him sometimes, though. and keith doesn't know it, but his penpal - lance - still thinks of him, too. he keeps all his letters in a shoe box on a shelf, and every so often he'll read over them and think, what happened? where did you go?
and when voltron happens, when they're in space together, there are a few moments where it almost clicks. like when they see each other’s handwriting for the first time - maybe while making the voltron paladin handbook - and they both get this vague deja vu. but they brush it off, bc they’ve probably seen each other’s handwriting at some point at the garrison, right?
but then, one day keith, lance, hunk, and pidge are in the lounge, and lance and hunk are reminiscing about their lives back on earth, with pidge chipping in every so often as she tinkers with her computer and Keith mostly just listening.
and at some point, hunk says, "oh, hey lance, remember that one guy you used to write love letters to all the time?"
at first, keith doesn't think much of it, just rolling his eyes with a scoff as lance protests, "uh, excuse me, they weren't love letters, we were penpals! that's like a whole different thing >:("
but - penpals - that sparks keith's memory. as hunk and pidge continue to tease lance, keith finds himself remembering his own penpal that he'd had as a kid. he remembers sparkly blue ink, messy little doodles and obviously exaggerated stories. how his friend would talk and talk about his family, his interests, and his life, but how he'd never push too hard for many details on Keith's own life, offering a welcome escape from some of the annoying stuff keith had to deal with in foster homes.
keith wonders where he is now, and how he's doing. he hopes he's okay.
"what was his name?" pidge's voice brings keith back to the conversation. "your boyfriend, i mean."
"for the last time, he was not my boyfriend!" lance cries, spreading his arms dramatically, pidge and hunk only snickering in response. "and, actually, i never knew his real name. i always just called him space cadet."
and keith's stomach drops.
"what?"
keith hadn't meant to blurt that out so loudly or so suddenly - in all honesty he didn't mean to speak at all - but now all eyes are on him.
"uh." lance raises an eyebrow. "i said i called him space cadet? you know, like a nickname? to use instead of his real name? i'm actually really good at coming up with those! you know, i was the one who gave hunk here his nickname ..."
keith lets the conversation drift from himself again, keeping his expression carefully blank.
"oh, right," he mutters, praying that his tone sounds as careless as he hopes. he glances away, folding his arms and leaning back on the couch, feigning disinterest.
he sees hunk tilt his head in confusion, but then pidge butts in to make fun of lance for giving his penpal such a dorky nickname, and keith's blunder is soon forgotten.
okay, keith tries to reason with himself, just because lance happened to give his penpal the same nickname as keith's penpal gave him, doesn't mean they're the same person. it could just be a weird coincidence.
but the more keith hears lance talk about his penpal, the more apparent it becomes that it is not, in fact a coincidence, and that lance is, in fact, keith's old penpal.
queue keith having a gay panic for 34234 years wondering how to tell lance that his self proclaimed rival and his beloved childhood penpal are actually the same person

Hello! I recently read your azul's ficlet and i'm close to crying at how beautiful it is (its 4am emo hours). If its okay, may I request a ficlet of Jade with a gn!reader with the word 'sleep' or 'rest' (pick whichever suits better!). Thank you in advance! 💖
CW: Spoilers for the movie Your Name (Kimi no na wa), character death, body switching, angst with a happy ending, and slow burn (sort of)
Feedback in greatly appreciated!
Thank you to @opalmaplehibiscus , @jellyfishstuckinwonderland , and @raven-at-the-writing-desk for the input in the making of this fic. I greatly appreciate your help.
The Possibilities are Endless
“My name is..”
Tumblr media
“Please remember me...!”
The crowds on the train pushed them apart, a braided bracelet was tossed towards Jade. A lifeline connecting both of them together, a connection between two souls; the face of one that was desperate to keep holding on, they yelled one last time just as the doors of the train closed and their grip on the bracelet wrap loosened.
“My name is—!”
Jade opened his eyes and he was in his room, his very dark room.  To his side was his closet and to the other a white wall. The sound of bubbling water churned behind the window of his dorm room and with one slow blink, he pulled himself up and hunched over.
The same dream, the same voice, the same bracelet tossed to him.
He craned his head to his lamp stand where the colorful wrap lay next to his earring, he doesn’t remember where he got it nor does he remember why he wanted to keep it for so long. He took the bracelet and looked at it and thought back to the voice in his dream.
“Please remember me...!”
Pushing himself off he moved to the mirror to fix his appearance, with his brush and hair gel in hand he let out a gasp when the lights of vanity shined light on a note. A note written on his cheek with a marker, a message he didn’t remember writing.
“Who are you?”
Tumblr media
It was during breakfast that Jade began to notice the strange happenings around him, how Azul asked if he was feeling better or how Floyd said he was wearing his earring again. “What do you mean,” Jade questioned. “I always wear it.”
“You weren’t yesterday. And you looked so lost like some little guppy, you even forget how to get to class yesterday morning.” Floyd complained, eating his breakfast with a huff. “Was it a prank? Cuz’ you got me good.”
What was he doing yesterday?
He woke up, went to school...No. That wasn’t what happened. He didn’t recall anything from the previous day. In fact, he remembered being at  a different place.
In a city full of buildings and faraway from the sea, the familiar smell of white roses, the smile of an unfamiliar fellow and a bento box he had no recollection of him cooking or making.
His uniform wasn’t black but a cream with a tint of yellow, his magical pen was nowhere to be seen and was instead replaced with a pen nib brooch.  He touches his cheek, remembering the message written on his cheek. “Who are you?”
“C’mon, you gotta tell me.” Floyd pestered, his arm over Jade’s neck “Was it a prank?”
“Perhaps.” The twins laughed, Floyd pulling close but in his mind he thought of the message, his incapability to remember the previous day. He needed more answers but only questions filled his head.
Tumblr media
His notes were a mess and full of sketches. There were sketches of Night Raven’s facade and the students, his classmates. A slew of messy messages on paper, the handwriting worrying as if the person writing was stressed beyond belief.
“The uniforms are black, the gems are pens.”
“Nothing but roses for miles.”
“Wishing well???”
“Where am I?”
“Mr Leech, please read the next line.”
“Yes, sir.”
Trein’s brow raised and he blinked. “Well, today you actually remember your name. Perhaps you were just feeling ill.” A hum of laughter passed through the class. “And your hair is fixed as well; I was beginning to think you and your brother switched places when you came into class with a messy bed head.”
Jade blinked, tilting his head. “I...see. I’ll make sure to not make that mistake again, professor.”
“Good. Continue on reading.”
“Magic transcends all meaning when twilight occurs, when the sun and the moon share the sky for a single moment.” Trein explained, using a magical pointer. “The word twilight means ‘half-light’ when the light of the sun glows and causes refraction in the atmosphere and signaling the end of the morning and welcoming of night or visa versa. At times like this does magic become unpredictable and free-forming and when realities begin to overlap each other for the time twilight occurs. This was used to the advantage of the earliest magician in recorded history.”
Trein faced his students. “Nowadays, these times of day are known as dusk and dawn as the world twilight has fallen out of favor in recent years.”
“It’s probably because of that one book.” A student yelled from the rows behind and Trein nodded his head. “Ah, yes, ten years ago was an odd time for the word ‘twilight’.” Trein blinked, shaking his head slightly. “Who would have thought the human body produced so much diamonds but that is beside the point.” The bell rang and the students began taking their books. “Be sure to read up on your lesson today, we will be having a quiz tomorrow on the topic.”
Jade stayed in his seat for some time and stared at the diagram on the board.
Twilight.
In the back of his mind, a flash of a memory comes to him. He remembers a train stopping by and the droves of people coming in and out. Jade was alone that time, buying something some seeds or fungi. The sun was setting at the time, the yellow sun turning orange and the sky dimming to a nightly violet.
“Jade.”
He didn’t know the person who called out his name nor did he remember what they looked like but he did remember the smile they had, as if they were looking for him for a long time, it was a  face relief.
“It’s me.”
He didn’t know who this person was nor did he ever remember their face and yet, at that instant he seemed to have known them his entire life. In his heart was a feeling of warmth, of glee, of content and relief; he was confused by it all. A strike of panic pierced his heart when that smile turned into a confused and upset frown. “You don’t...remember me..?”
The next stop came and people began filing out, pushing the two of them away from each other. “Jade, please remember me!” They said as they were pushed out by the crowd. Reaching up, they pulled the braided tie from their hair and threw it out of him. “Please remember me..!”
He caught the braided tie just as the other let go and doors began to close.
“My name is—!”
“Is there something wrong, Mr Leech?” He blinked, looking to Trein with confusion. He had missed the door and stood by the wall of the classroom. “Ah—I’m sorry.” There was a hissy laugh from Lucius as Trein set him down on the table to collect his papers. “You seem to be in deep thought, is there something on your mind?”
“No, professor, I was just thinking about our topic today.” Jade lied through his teeth and Trein took it with a huff. “I know twilight is a regular phenomenon but I didn’t know that it was an important time of day for mages and magicians.” A nod came from his professor. “Many people nowadays don’t see its importance as magical materials and magic itself have grown and changed over time. With the new technology and the new breakthroughs we have, the archaic practices of the past have since then been abandoned.”
Trein looked to the window and Jade followed his gaze, the sun began to set and the color of orange and violet painted the sky. “Twilight has begun.” Picking up his beloved cat, Trein stretched his back and moved to face the student in front of him. “It’s best to get back to your dorm, you might miss the curfew.”
“Professor, have you ever experienced anything during twilight? Like the way you’ve explained it during class?” Jade asked suddenly, his professor’s eyes widened then looking to the side to think for a moment. “I have but they were more of dreams than the otherworldly claims of recording happenings. I would often see myself in another person’s shoes, seeing a world I did not know about, it wasn’t a pleasant experience but...It was interesting, for a dream at least.”
“I see. Thank you very much, professor. I’ll be on my way.”
Tumblr media
He stared at his messy notebook unblinking, the messy handwriting and the sketches were foreign to him. He drew a few doodles but he never put any detail to it nor was he able to do sketches of his peers in movement.
“Where am I?”
Taking his pen, Jade wrote a message. What had happened to him wasn’t a dream, he knew that and he knew that what he was about to do wasn’t a sure fire guarantee that whoever wrote this will see it but the unpredictability of the situation allowed him to push through with an eagerness to see the end results.
“You are in Night Raven College. My name is Jade.”
The night loomed over the dorm, the once blue waters a dark purple and tinge of black. Twilight has ended. Jade closes his eyes for a moment and sighed, thinking back about the lesson and to the confused glances of his peers.
“Please remember me...!” The voice begged, the image of a braided bracelet flowing through the air as it flew towards him. Tugging his sleeve, the bracelet was wrapped around his wrist snugly; its design was simple and bright mix of blue, yellow, and red.
“Please remember me...!”
Jade tugs his sleeves back down, only stepping out of to his bed when he felt tired. The bracelet was removed from his wrist and sat next to him.
“My name is—!”
The voice echoed through his mind, he felt that he should remember it,  he felt like he should know who it was, and all he felt was frustration and eagerness to see this unpredictable situation through. He closed his eyes wanting to rest his eyes rather than sleep.
“So this is what Night Raven College looks like. It’s very pretty, your uniforms are very pretty too but I’m not used to the environment there. It’s probably because of the walls or the silence.”
It had been a few days since the messaging through the notebook began with Jade and his pen pal, of sorts.  It seemed that his new pen pal had been observing weird happenings to them too. Their classmates telling them of their weird behaviors, one time all they ate were mushrooms.
“I don’t even like mushrooms and because of you I ate a whole lot of them in just one day!”
It seemed that his odd dreams of seeing another world unlike his own weren’t dreams after all. The white and yellow uniforms, the sweet smell of lilies, and the pen nib brooch all pointed to Royal Swords Academy. Apparently the person he switched bodies with studied there.
“And I was told that I ate eel for lunch and it upset my brother. It seems both of us are even on this regard.”
He always wrote messages on his notebook the moment he got home and he preferred it that way rather than waking up to writings on his face and arms. The marker ink was hard to wash off, even with large amounts of sudsy soaps.
“We have a notebook to communicate for a reason, please use that.”
“I like writing on your hand, Jade.”
There were moments that he expressed frustration with them, even anger but that soon dissipated into childish antics of messages written on skin, eating disgusting foods they came to like, and a bond that transcended physical reality. They were from two different worlds and yet, here they were being friends.
All this was just like a dream to him.
“Hey, about that braided bracelet...Where did you get it? I had one just like it before it disappeared; I used to wear it on my hair.”
“I’m afraid I don’t have an answer to that. It just came with me, I suppose. I couldn’t part with it for some reason so I’ve been wearing it ever since.”
“I guess we just so happened to have the same braided tie, huh? Hehehe!”
Tumblr media
After class, Jade went to experience the twilight hour for once and see the students filter out of school and run about. It was the end of the week and it was a time for fun, brooms flew overhead and magical swirls of dust were thrown about by fun-loving students.
“What I like about your school is that none of you are afraid to get dirty and have fun.” He remembered his pen pal writing. “I love RSA but the uniforms and the rules we live by stop us from having fun like all of you there in NRC.”
He couldn’t blame them, RSA had some rules to go by and the uniforms really stopped them from having fun too. The chaos that he saw in RSA wasn’t like those in NRC, not by a long shot but he could see the charm it had in it despite the difference in school life.
Jade wanted them to experience this first hand one day. In their own body, of course.
He went back to his room when the sun had disappeared and the moon stood in its place. Sitting by the notebook, he took his magical pen from his pocket and began writing his response to his pen pal’s recent message.
“RSA has beautiful scenery, there’s no doubt about it. It’s a nice change of pace from the gothic feel NRC has, I find it rather peaceful. Though the sudden music lessons do tend to throw me off but that is something I will eventually come to get used to.
He tapped his pen on his desk, humming at his short reply. He looked at his wrist; the braid coiled around his wrist and was vibrant under the yellow light of his lamp. Unlike them, he never really gave hints of what his school life was about nor did he give details of what it was like to spend a day in RSA.
“We had a lesson about the magical phenomena known as Twilight. Apparently around that time, magic becomes different and realities begin to overlap...Do you think that’s what’s causing us to switch bodies?”
“Twilight...I’ve heard of that phenomenon too! It actually makes sense, maybe that’s what's causing it but if it’s really true then that’s some real strong magic!”
Jade slept that late that night, the braided tie next to his forehead. For once, he didn’t dream of the train station but of a hand coming up to take his own. No, it wasn’t his hand, it was his pen pal’s hand, and it grasped softly then tugged for him to follow.
He was on a mountain, the sky glittering with millions upon millions of stars. It was a beautiful sight, his eyes widening as the stars grew closer and closer, the heat around him rising and rising; burning his skin and singing his hair. The world around him was destroyed and the last thing he heard was the terrified scream of someone he was beginning to hold dear.
He awoke with a gasp, his eyes tearful and his lungs out of breath. Next to him were a concerned Azul and his brother Floyd. “We could hear you gasping from the hallway.” Azul explained but Jade kicked off his covers and ran to his desk, his notebook, their means of communication was empty. The messages he had collected with them were gone and only his own remained.
His brother tugged at his shoulder. “Look at me.” He was whirled around, their foreheads touching. “Breathe. You’re gonna give yourself an attack if you don’t breathe.”
He closed his eyes, leaning against his brother to breathe harshly. A pair of hands pats his back, Azul’s and Floyd’s, in an act of comfort but none of their touches reached Jade. He was too confused, too shaken up, too anxious. “It was just a bad dream.”
A dream...
What he had seen in the eyes of his pen pal was all a dream...?
Pen pal?
“It’s best that you get some more rest.” Azul said, pulling Jade back to his bed. “I’ll explain to the teachers what happened to you.” Floyd nudged him down and pulled the covers up until his brother’s chin. “We need you well rested, Jade. We’ll have the others check on you every once in a while.”
He forced himself to breathe slowly and carefully, his eyes screwed shut and thoughts in a whirlwind. His memories scrambling and confusing, he tries to remember the train station, the lake that was on RSA’s sloping hills and the falling meteorite.
Had there been a meteor shower? There was no news of it, no indication.
A hand caressed his head, shushing his sounds to silence.
“Sleep, Jade.”
Tumblr media
The next day, Jade spent all his time in the library with books about stars and meteors and sleep being the furthest thing from his mind. He poured through the articles about meteor showers, checking online news sites, and pouring through scientific documents.
Nothing.
No recent reports of a meteor shower anywhere near the area of RSA or NRC.
A frustrated sigh left Jade’s lips and he held his head with a huff, burying his fingers into his hair when a fluffy tail rubbed and pawed against his arm. “Good to see you’re up and about, Mr Leech.” Trein stood over him as Lucius stepped over the articles to sit on one of the books.
“I didn’t know you were taking a liking to astronomy.” The professor commented, taking an article and reading through it. “Meteor showers, eh? I haven’t seen those for some time. The last one was beautiful but also very tragic.”
“What do you mean, professor?” Jade stared up at his teacher, slightly surprised.
“You weren’t in NRC at the time this happened but there was a meteor shower that passed by Twisted Wonderland, it was a festive time...But that soon became a tragedy when a fragment broke off from one of the passing meteorites.” He sighed, closing his eyes and setting the paper down. “Though NRC and RSA have been rivals for a long time, I can’t bear to think such a catastrophic event would happen to them.”
His heart skipped a beat, eyes wide in surprise. “You mean to say...”
“A meteorite fragment fell on RSA three years ago, specifically on the field just outside the school where some students were watching the shower. Those poor children...”
The white crystal of his magical pen glowed bright and Jade pushed himself off his chair, figure hunched forward and head hung low. Lucius let out a meow as he scrambled away from the student. “Mr Leech, what are you doing?” Trein demanded but his voice fell on deaf ears, Jade remembers his last dream, the last time he switched bodies. He remembers the falling meteorite, the scream that wasn’t his own, he remembers them.
His pen pal.
In a burst of magic, Jade disappeared from his position leaving a scared Lucius and a confused and upset Mozus Trein.
Tumblr media
The landscape around him was heavy, the crater left by the meteorite was massive and no traces of life were seen within the impact zone. The memory of the meteorite fragment falling right on top of his pen pal, killing them instantly played again and again in his head. Jade, normally so aloof and calm, fell to his knees.
They died.
They died where he stood.
For the first time in a long while, Jade screamed his heart out. A wail of agony loud enough to echo through the empty void that was essentially his pen pal resting place. He sunk to his knees and continued crying until his throat became hoarse and painful.
He laid on his side as the sun went down, the braided tie peeked out of his blazer.
“Please remember me—!”
The train station...Was that a dream too? What had he been doing when he was in there? What was he there for?
Who was calling out his name.
“Jade...?”
The sun set over him, the sky turning orange and violet. It was twilight hour.
 “Jade..”
“Jade.”
There was a touch to his shoulder and a soft shake. His head turned, his eyes widened. A student from RSA stood over him. They smelled of white lilies, uniform a mix of white and yellow, and their magical crystal a pen nib brooch. There was a familiar gleam in their eyes, a smile he came to know from the many days they had switched bodies.
His pen pal smiled at him, offering their hand for him to take. “It’s really you, Jade. It’s actually you.”
They laughed, pulling Jade into a hug; his tall figure dwarfing them easily as they hugged his chest. Jade sighed, returning the hug soon after and rocking each other back and forth for a few moments the sun shined in the horizon.
“I thought I lost you, y’know?” They said, looking up at him. “I just...I suddenly couldn’t reach you.”
“I thought you had died. I saw the meteor fall on you.”
They looked at each other for a moment and a laugh was shared, their foreheads linked together soon after. “I know but...somehow, maybe...I don’t really know what happened to me. I just couldn’t reach you to tell you what happened on that day. I nearly forgot about you and I cried for days wondering why.”
Pulling away, they looked down to Jade’s wrist. “Hey, that bracelet...”
“You gave it to me in the train station.”
It was all coming back to him now. This person, his pen pal, was someone he held dear for a long time.
He felt comfort.
“Oh yeah! I did, didn’t I?”
“Do you want it back?”
“No. Keep it.”
The two held hands for some time but were immediately thwarted by them pulling out a marker. “Hey, why don’t we write our names? That way, if we ever forget each other there’ll always be a reminder. Ah, but I don’t have any paper with me...”
Jade offered his palm, his smile teasing and knowing. “You always liked writing on my skin.”
They shared another laugh and the marker’s cap was pulled off, Jade looking over the horizon as they wrote their name on his palm. “Your turn.”
He took the pen from them and as soon as he wrote the starting strokes of his name, the marker fell from his grasp.
The twilight hour had ended and the moon took over the sky.
“Eh...? What am I...doing...?”
Tumblr media
Jade was found by his peers not long after, taking him in and letting him rest as they descended the crater near RSA. Mozus Trein was their chaperone, explaining to the staff of the rival school and covering his own students.
“Someone he knew died here,” He explained, looking at Jade being covered with a blanket by his brother. Jade’s eyes were closed and he leaned against him, clearly exhausted from the ordeal and exposure to the elements.
“I’m very sorry to hear that, professor.” Said one RSA’s employees, brows upturned and frowning deep. “The meteorite crash was a very tragic event for all schools. I can’t imagine how much grief that young boy has gone through knowing that a friend of his died that day.”
“I hope you can look the other way on this. I know we shouldn’t come into each other’s premises without proper—“
“It’s quite alright. I’ll explain the situation to the headmaster once everything has settled.”
Floyd pulled his brother to his chest and stood up, Azul placing a hand on his back.
“Let’s go home, Jade.”
Jade wasn’t alone that night, Floyd and Azul wouldn’t allow him to be alone. They slept next to him, keeping him company but while the two slept, he couldn’t. The moon shone against his window and gave his room a very soft blue glow. He raised his hand to his face, the message from someone he held dear was still visible but slightly smudged.
“Thank you.”
Bitterness rose in his chest and to his throat, his brows furrowed in frustration. The tears forming stung his eyes.
“You idiot,” he brought his palm to his face, sniffling. “I can’t remember you this way.”
Tumblr media
A year had passed and the dreams stopped coming after that night. Jade had picked up the habit of sitting outside during twilight hour, watching the set and holding the bracelet that never left his wrist for more than a second. He wore it everywhere he went but when asked; he never had a proper reason for it.
“I feel complete wearing it.”
The yearly magical shift festival brought troves of customers and onlookers, Jade and his brother sat on a bench and let their legs rest after a long day. “I’m gonna go get something to eat. You want anything?”
“I’ll be fine. I’ll buy some myself.”
“’Kay.”
Jade was left alone after that and he closed his eyes for a moment, his nose taking in the different smells of food and perfumes.
There was a familiar smell of white lilies.
“Excuse me.”
A person stood in front of him, holding a brochure. They were a uniform of white and yellow and a pen nib brooch. They smiled at him and familiar warmth bloomed in his chest. “I don’t mean to disturb you or anything.”
Their smile was sheepish but it felt as if he’d seen it somewhere before.
“Do we know each other by any chance?”
“I think so.” Jade’s smile was easy and suddenly their eyes began to water. “I had a feeling we did.”
“Hey,” Jade reached over and intertwined their hands, the bracelet’s colors were vibrant against his skin and theirs.
“May I…”
“Can I…”
“...Know your name?”

Hey doll hey!!!! Hope your having an extraordinary day. Today I’d like to review for you a full face of Pixi Beauty products. I will be following this post up with a second day wear test, so that I can try both the foundation and the beauty balm and I can try the concealer with and without corrector.
So let’s get started ….
BASE PRODUCTS:
Pixi by Petra Flawless Beauty Primer ($22 at Target and on their website): A++               You get 1.01 fluid ounces of product. A small amount of this primer is all you need …be careful because you can go from glowy to disco ball very easily.  This primer is a spot on dupe for the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45 at Sephora and on their website) in the color Dew You? …. the only difference is that the Pixi one leans a bit more pink where as the Marc Jacobs one leans a bit more gold. I used a bit too much and had to start my face over I looked like a vampire in the Twilight movies. The second try I went in with less product and it left my skin so glowy I love it. Once you layer foundation over it, the look is so dewy and so pretty.
Tumblr media
Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer on the left and Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter on the right.
foundation on the left concealer on the right
Pixi Flawless Beauty Fluid ($15 at Target and on their website): A-                                        In the picture above the foundation swatch is on the left and the concealer swatch is on the right…. You get 1.3 fluid ounces of product. The reason I chose to give this foundation an A- is because this foundation only comes in 3 shades and none of those shade even come close to being deep enough for our deeper skinned beauties. With that said this foundation is amazing. It’s not too thick, not too thin, and blends in seamlessly. The color was spot on for my skin tone. 2 Pumps was enough to cover my full face and neck and still have a bit left to cover over spots that needed more coverage. It’s billed as a barely-there miracle base that transforms skin, making it appear fresh & gorgeous as fine lines are blurred, skin tone is evened out, and blemishes are erased. I don’t know if it covers blemishes because I don’t currently have any, but it did blur my skin. It does not set down so you do need to set it with powder. This is a solid foundation that does not oxidize, lasts all day, and doesn’t break down over the T-zone. By the end of the night my pores were very visible, but that might be from the powder foundation that I used to set this foundation. I look forward to using this foundation some more and definitely will use it up and repurchase it again.
Pixi by Petra Pat Away Concealing Base ($16 at Target and on their website): A+++!!            You get .13 fluid ounces of product. It comes in 6 shades with 2 for deeper skin. I gotta say that the applicator on this one is odd. Their website says it’s a Unique applicator sized like your finger with extra flocking for added softness and ease in blending. This concealer is billed as being concentrated yet skin-like, elastic and long wearing, and buildable for full coverage. I think the applicator is gimmicky but the concealer is beautiful. It’s a medium coverage concealer that can be built up to full coverage without creasing. Today I did not use a color corrector to test the strength of this concealer and it preformed wonderfully! You couldn’t see my fine lines, until I set it with face powder … I will try it again tomorrow with my Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder instead of using the powder foundation to see how it goes…. but as of right now, I really like this concealer. I used just 1 swipe for each eye and didn’t have to go back into the product to cover both eyes. I will used up the rest and most definitely will repurchase this concealer.
Pixi by Petra Colour Correcting Powder Foundation ($20 at Target and on their website):A-                                                                                                                                         You get .28 ounce of product. This is a finely milled powder foundation that actually has great coverage. They bill it as a never cakey or heavy medium to full coverage powder. If you go in with a light hand this powder looks amazing, but the more you add the more it emphasizes imperfections. I chose to give it an A- for a few reasons… the first being that there are only 3 shades and, like the liquid foundation, it only comes in 3 shades … none of which are deep enough for anyone deeper skinned than me…. the second reason is that this is billed and being a flawless buildable powder foundation, but when you go in with more than just a light sweep of powder all the texture in your face is emphasized and it mattifies your skin way too dry. I like the coverage it gives with 1 pass of the brush but it doesn’t completely set the foundation underneath so I will use this as a touch up powder instead of a setting powder. I’ll use this one up but I don’t think I will repurchase because there are other powder foundations that I like at the drug store that are cheaper and that can be built up without making my skin look like the Sahara.
Pixi by Petra Beauty Bronzer ($18 at Target and on their website): A+                               This product came with a kabuki brush, I didn’t like the kabuki brush it was too soft and too flimsy. I would have preferred Pixi to include a  mirror or perhaps add more product rather then get this brush as part of the set. You get .36 ounces of product. It’s billed as being a silky, perfectly-pigmented bronzer that perks up skintone while looking natural. This is a satin finished bronzer so you get glowy skin, it in no way looks natural, although the tone of the bronzer is perfect. It’s a subtle pigmented bronzer so you do have to go into the product a couple of times to get a good color payout… but the look is so pretty. Now this is not a long wearing bronzer … by 6 pm all that was left was the shimmer of the bronzer which I was able to tone down with pressed powder…. but it’s still a really pretty bronzer. I’ll continue to use this one up but am not sure if I will repurchase it just yet …. I need more time to play with it to see if it will remain in my makeup rotation.
EYE PRODUCTS:
Pixi by Petra Hello Beautiful Face Case ($24 at Target and on their website): A+++!!!      You get .56 ounces of product. This is an all in one compact, it has 2 blushes, a highlighter, and 12 eye shadows. I was able to do a complete eye look, with the exception that there is no matte cream color to set your primer with, with as wonderful as these shadows are I did not mind having to pull a single shadow into the look at all. These eye shadows are finely milled and highly pigmented. It’s a great quality palette. There was some kickback in the pans but very little fallout on the under eye. The swatches are 1 pass of the finger, I didn’t have to build the colors up at all. The shadows blend well together and buff our so easily. I hope this is not a limited edition item because I definitely could see myself using this palette up and repurchasing it.
Tumblr media
Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Caviar on the left and Extra Eye Bright Liner in Extra Bright on the right.
Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen ($12 at Target and on their website): A++                  This pencil comes in 22 shades. You get .04 ounces of product. This pencil was so simple to use. It’s super creamy. There was no tugging at my lids. It didn’t transfer to my lower lash line, It did not fade or crack. I was able to get 1 continuous line on my lid without having to go over the line at all. I truly like this pencil…. I will use this pencil up and promptly repurchase it.
Pixi Extra Bright Liner ($14 at Target and on their website): F                                              You get .12 ounces of product. It’s billed as being an intensified version of their classic Eye Bright Liner and that it delivers a wide-awake look in moments. There was no brightness to this liner. It tugged at my sensitive waterline. Went on patchy and did not stick … it was gone in a 1/2 hour… today I had to reapply this at least 7 times… this is just a dud for me… a definite fail. I think I will purchase the Endless Silky Eye Pen in the color Matte Nude to use in my waterline instead of trying to use this pencil… I will be decluttering this pencil first thing tomorrow.
Pixi by Petra Endless Brow Gel Pencil ($11 at Target and on their website): A-                 You get .04 ounces of product. It comes in 3 shades, light…medium…and deep. This pencil was so easy to use. It made my brows a bit harsher than I normally like but it still went on effortlessly. It does fade a bit as the hours roll by, but nothing to harsh that it left me looking crazy or anything. I think if I had the medium shade my brows wouldn’t be as harsh looking…. I am going to purchase the medium pencil and see if the color difference will do the trick. It was a good pencil and I will most definitely be using it again. This pencil surprised me because I though it’s a wooden pencil and would be stiff and hard to apply… this was the furthest thing from the truth … it was creamy and smooth and easy to block out my brows and then fill them in.
Pixi by Petra Brow Tamer ($10 at Target and on their website): A+++!                                You get .15 ounces of product. This gel works better than the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel does. It held my brows all day, did not lift up the brow product underneath, was gloppy, and did not make my brows crunchy. I will be repurchasing this brow gel once I run out.
Tumblr media
Pixi by Petra Lash Booster Mascara ($15 at Target and on their website): A+++!!!!           You get .25 ounces of product. It’s billed as a mascara that curls, defines, lengthens and thickens with a glossy, waterproof finish. It’s not a glossy formula, it dries down matte but with that said …. this mascara just gave my beloved Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black a run for it’s money!!! I used 2 coats of this mascara and my lashes did not clump, did not droop, did not get crunchy, and did not transfer to my lids or under eyes. I didn’t even need to use a lash primer with this mascara. Oh boy, I think I have a new love. The only thing that is a problem with this one is, it gets a bit messy around the stopper, but that’s not a deal breaker for me… I really love this mascara… I’m so ordering a back up.
CHEEK and LIP PRODUCTS:
Pixi by Petra Hello Beautiful Face Case($24 at Target and on their website):A+++!!!       The blushes in this palette are so pretty. You get a subtle peachy tan and a deeper peachy tan blush and 1 highlight or blush topper. The formula is a bit chalky but once you buff it into the cheeks it looks better. The blush lasted all day long with no patchy or faded spots.  I didn’t pick another blush because they all seemed to be shimmer shades and I like a matte blush… however they just dropped 2 new quads that are matte if they are anything like the blushes in this palette I will be purchasing them too.
Pixi Matteluster Lipstick ($12 at Target and on their website): C-                                         You get .13 ounces of product in this bullet. It comes in 11 shades. It’s billed as being full-coverage, with an adjustable-finish  for long lasting, vivid lip colour with a plumping effect. First of all this lipstick tastes awful! I don’t make it a habit of eating my lipstick, but whatever is in this lip product transfers to the mouth …. the taste is very hard to get around. The color is beautiful and lasts a decent time… but so does the taste…. and this lipstick did not plump my lips at all. The taste of this product is so bad that I will be decluttering this lipstick tomorrow. A definite hard pass for me.
Pixi The Layers Highlighting Palette ($24 at Target and on their website):A+++!!!! You get .81 ounces total of product. The smaller squares are .09 ounces each and the 2 bigger squares are .27 ounces each. This is a collaboration palette with Rachel Loves from youtube… I purchased it because I absolutely love Rachel Loves videos and just had to try her highlighters out. This is a unique palette because it’s designed so that you can mix the smaller squares in with the bigger squares to get a deeper , brighter, or paler highlight as you wish to mix. These highlighters are so beautiful. There is no glitter in them. They buff into the skin beautifully. This formula of highlighter does not emphasize texture in your skin, and it seems to melt into the skin when you apple setting spray… it’s not that it’s a powdery formula, it just seems to go seamless on the skin once you introduce a setting spray. I so love this palette, I highly recommend this palette to anyone how is a lover of highlighter. Out of all the products I purchased and tried this is my favorite Pixi find.
Tumblr media
Excuse the hair … It’s time for a new Olaplex treatment.
Final Thoughts:
As a whole Pixi Beauty gets a solid A++ from me. They have high quality products and a drug store price. They are a bit higher on the drug store price tag but so worth the splurge. When I first purchased these products I went in thinking, this company is going to let me down… there is no way that they are any good, hardly anyone talks about them anymore… well boy was I wrong. I truly had a blast trying out these products, so much so that I will be purchasing more products from them soon…. there is a setting spray of theirs that I would like to try and I need to get more eye shadow palettes from their line. I also want to try other lipstick formulas to see if they are better than the one I tried today. With as good as the other products were I am willing to take the chance and try out other lip products.
Well that’s all for now dolls…. remember save a spoon for a bit of makeup.
XOXO

Kiri is DONE! I had to wait for my new HIMI jelly gouache paints to come in from Amazon, and work between the store jobs, and other projects, but he is finally finished! I am in LOVE with gouache now. It's like the best of both watercolors and acrylic paints. It does take some practice, but it is amazing. And yep, an excuse to create a painting of Kirishima Eijiro as a dragon knight, inspired by Yagami Yato? Yes, please, and thank you!

Original roughs done in my sketchbook, then lightboxed onto 15 x 10 inch heavy watercolor paper. Inked with a blended sepia india ink and my beloved Raphael Kolinsky sable hair number 2 8404 round brush. It's no secret Glossier is über-talented when it comes to making waves, influencing trends, and setting refreshing diversity precedents within the beauty industry. So it's not surprising that when the cult-loved brand announces a new product launch, people go bananas . Of course, some launches have gone over better than others—Glossier Play is still a controversial topic among beauty editors—and some of the brand's beloved signatures (Milky Jelly Cleanser , Balm Dotcom , Cloud Paint , Generation G ...etc.) will likely never be dethroned from their pedestal. Which brings us to today's major news—the launch of Glossier's newest product called Brow Flick ($18)—the only brow product the brand has debuted since the 2015 arrival of Boy Brow ($16). (Which, if you didn't know, is the brand's #1 selling product and one of the most iconic brow products, well, ever. ) In fact, as the brand stated in a press release, last year, a tube of Boy Brow sold every 32 seconds. To which we say damn . Alas, we digress—back to the task at hand! The exciting and surprising (unless you're a beauty editor who received the exciting news last week) arrival of Brow Flick ($18), a sleek brush-tip detailing pen that's intended to groom and touch up your arches with the perfect amount of pigment and texture. With Brow Flick, it's all about definition, not necessarily color or fluff; the product aims to give Glossier's loyal community the option to add "more brow to their brow" for a full, polished, ultra-natural-looking finish. So what makes Brow Flick ($18) different than the gel, powder, or pencil you already love? For starters, it comes in just three sheer, (surprisingly) versatile shades, Black, Brown, and Blond, which pair beautifully with their corresponding shades of Boy Brow. Second, the formula is water-resistant and creates easy, natural-looking strokes that look significantly less artificial and "drawn" than the results stencils and pencils can yield. You can use the pen anywhere you feel you want or need more definition or depth—be it the tails or arches—and thanks to the malleable, super-fine brush tip, the final aesthetic is designed to look pretty darn seamless. (Spoiler: It does!) Composition- and ingredient-wise, the formula is ophthalmologist tested, dermatologist tested, vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, grain-protein-free, nut-free, and hypoallergenic (woo!), and other notable features include copolymers (for enduring wear), superfine pigments (for detection-free believability), and, of course, the flow-through brush applicator tip (for fine lines, precise application, and a natural finish). For A+ application, the brand suggests starting with clean skin, which will help ensure the formula adheres how it's intended. Then, holding the pen at a downward angle, lightly etch and feather your strokes anywhere you want some improvement. Let the application dry for at least 15 seconds, and then feel free to brush and fluff your hairs up with Boy Brow to enhance your work with a little more hold and definition. Et voila! Brow Flick in a nutshell. Of course, there's the whole issue of whether or not the newest Glossier baby lives up to all the inevitable hype, so I asked a few of my fellow Who What Wear co-workers to weigh in with before-and-after photos coupled with unbiased reviews. Due to how fair my skin and hair is (and how sparse-ish my brows are), it's easy for brow products to go haywire fast. So I generally stick to pencils, which yield more control and precision than goopy gels. Thus, when I heard that Glossier's latest brow launch was a pen—which sounds rather intense—I was concerned. I had scary visions of an application that looked more like a paint job than a natural-looking brow boost.  . "That said, as soon as I unpackaged Brow Flick, my stress level dropped; the brush tip is super fine and soft, and as I began stroking it through the sparse areas of my brows, I could barely detect the product—in a good way. (I literally had a Britney Spears moment; like, Is this thing on?). However, despite how subtle the application was, I did notice a slow, steady, user-friendly build in the oomph and precision of my brows. "The job was done in about 30 seconds, and the product was completely undetectable (no telltale trace of pencil left behind!). Brow Flick truly delivers on the "your brows, but better" front, which is my personal vibe when it comes to enhancing my brows. I didn't feel like I needed more pigment, so I simply brushed them into place with the clear Boy Brow formula, but honestly, I probably wouldn't even do that on a daily basis; I generally like to keep my brow M.O. as minimal as possible. "Overall, I'd give Brow Flick five stars and might actually love it just as much as I love Lash Slick, my favorite mascara. However, I do worry the effect won't be dramatic enough for those who love a brow look that packs a lot of punch (although you can always add extra definition with a second coat of Boy Brow), and am also slightly worried the pen might dry out in about two seconds flat. All in all, though, my first impression is stellar, and I'd definitely recommend it for the person who loves a natural and super-low-maintenance brow look."  The 12-hours-later update: "I applied Brow Flick at the office around 8 a.m. in the morning and then went to a 6 p.m. spin class where I literally produced buckets of sweat. After the class, my brows looked like they hadn't even been touched and were still perfectly intact! Glossier, you weren't playing when you said the formula was water-resistant!" "This decade's brow trends have been kind to those with thick, straight-across caterpillars like mine (thank goddess the early 2000s are long gone!), and I've been leaning into any product that helps me achieve my Burt-and-Ernie brow aesthetic. My go-to brow products are either gels formulated with fibers and a lot of hold (like boy brow!), which allow me to achieve the full, bushy vibe I like, or super skinny-tipped pencils that let me fill in sparse bits as well as create the look of individual brow hairs. "My first impression of Glossier's (very appropriately named) Brow Flick is very positive—I love how the flexible tip and inky (though light) liquid product allows you to very precisely stroke hair-like lines into the sprout of your brows or fill in the arch/tail. Bumped up and locked in by a coat or two of boy brow, I love the full, feathered effect. My only suspicion of the product is that it deposits pigment so lightly (admittedly great for not overdoing your brows) that I'm afraid the applicator would dry out after five or so uses. Only more experimentation will tell. But for the time being, I'm digging my *brows on flick* (sorry for the pun... had to)." Wearing: Brow Flick in Black & Boy Brow in Black. "Right off the bat, I was impressed by how easy it was to apply. The brush literally flicks on a sheer stroke of color, leaving my brows looking fuller, darker, and more even. Being the novice that I am at all brow products under the sun (save for my beloved Boy Brow, naturally), I applied it all over my brows just to see how it would look. I quickly discovered that the formula doesn't easily smudge off, though, which is great if you apply it where you want, but not so great if you paint outside the lines, which I definitely did a few times. I finished with Bow Brow for a full statement brow moment I'm excited to re-create for my next event. For more of a natural everyday look, though, I'll probably limit the Brow Flick to my arches and finish with the Boy Brow in clear instead." Wearing: Brow Flick in Black & Boy Brow in Black. "Rarely do I wear makeup; most days I roll out of bed and decide to dedicate my morning routine to my curly hair. But I definitely could be down to incorporate Glossier's Brow Flick pencil in when I'm feeling extra spicy. I have to say that Brow Flick was a little lighter in effect versus the Boy Brow, which felt like the type of product you put on to have a bold brow. Overall, both products looked great, but Brow Flick gave off a more natural, non-filled in look, while Boy Brow screams brows on fleek." Wearing: Brow Flick in Brown. "I love the subtle difference the pen makes to my brows. It enhances and shapes my brows without looking like I've actually got brow product on. The pen itself has a light-as-air texture—almost like a brown watercolor." Next Up, My Eyebrows Doubled in Size After Making These 6 Sneaky Changes.
