It just clicked for me today (and again I’m sure it’s been discussed because I’m 2 years too late to EVERYTHING) that the wand form of Pearl’s spear
is probably a leftover/reminder of what her spear (potentially) originally was.
Everytime she summons her weapon it’s a reminder of where she came from and how far she’s come.
i really liked it! it had a much lighter tone and art style than the pilot, which makes more sense for the target demographic.
i definitely feel like it did a better job at characterization, and it was unashamedly absurd (in a good way!)
the art and music was gorgeous, and the overall aesthetic of the show just really clicks with me!
my one negative is that the animation quality isn’t as good as the pilot, but it’s still far from bad (especially the fight scenes, they were great)
this has been a lot of fun so far, i’m either going to continue later tonight or tomorrow

this is like that one scene in every anime where the protagonists friend dies
then the protagonist gets mad and destroys the villain with powers and stuff
knowing how steven feels about cookie cats, that could very well happen
he’s more upset over having to eat most of the cookie cats
than being attacked by the giant centipede monster
i think getting out from behind that hand would be helpful in both saving steven and yourselves
maybe he should’ve thought this plan through just a little more
steven this is not the time to make anime girl eating noises
leave before you are incinerated by acid
considering that the gems were about to die via acid, i’m actually thankful that steven showed up
that said, he’s much less equipped to deal with this kind of problem
