“I am wearing a Giorgio Armani suit (found through Gem vintage search app), sequin vest (with a tulip a friend gave me), 60s Schiaparelli silk stockings, vintage leather bag from The Netherlands, and Bally shoes (thank you Goodwill!). The intrinsic power of 80s/90s skirt suits is quite appealing to me currently. I study die Neue Sachlichkeit art movement so 1920s Weimar Republic glamour always influences my sartorial decisions. BUY SECOND HAND!”

Wedding Invitations
Miguel O'Hara x Reader
Summary: Y/n and Miguel take the day to distribute wedding invitations to the Spider-Gang. But in the midst of all the congratulations they forget to tell a very important member of the wedding party...
Warnings: Fluff, Spider-Gang family dynamics, Miguel's got a touch of baby fever
Author's Note: I FINALLY got around to writing this Miguel x Reader oneshot that's been in my WIP dump for ages. This can be read on its own, or as a continuation of my Hummingbird series.

You blinked around Spidey-HQ, buzzing with excitement and armed with a stack of cream-colored envelopes. The cards within had the following words printed in lacy gold lettering:
Miguel O’Hara and Y/n L/n Invite you to join their wedding celebration on Saturday, October 15,  2105 at 4:30pm St. Javier’s Cathedral 115 Hammond St
You’d visited Pavitr first, finding him tucked away in an alcove on the top floors where he went about carefully oiling his hair.
“FINALLY!” He squealed, sprinting away to wash his hands before gingerly accepting the invitation like you’d just handed him a million dollars. “You’re getting married!” He snatched one hand, then the other, splaying your fingers and searching for the ring, “Where is it? Where is it? I want to see it.”
You chuckled, “Calm down, Gollum.” You reached into your shirt, pulling out the chain where you’d been hiding the ring for the past eight months. “I don’t wear it very often. Art teacher and superhero - remember?”
It was a shame. It was a beautiful, vintage ring originally belonging to Miguel’s mother. He’d since updated it, replacing two of the missing stones with small burgundy gems that matched the color of his eyes. Even if you couldn’t wear it often, you kept it with you at all times, resting against your heart.
Pavitr began to vibrate with excitement, bouncing on his feet. “Can I-Can I tell-?”
“Yes, you can tell people.”
“Really?!” He brightened up.
“Yes. Miguel’s probably already sent out a general announcement by now.”
As if on cue both your watches beeped, a red notification popping up.
Announcement:  Y/n and I are getting married. Don’t get upset if you're not invited to the ceremony. There are literally thousands of you. Reception will be at Spidey HQ atrium Saturday, October 15, 2105 at 7pm. All are welcome.
“Perfect timing.” You said, smiling at the words Y/n and I are getting married. You still couldn’t believe it, even though you’d been sitting on the knowledge in silence for the past six months.
“Oh and Pavitr. Miguel will probably ask you this again later but… would you like to be a groomsman in the wedding?”
Pavitr’s lips trembled, then broke into the widest smile imaginable, brown eyes crinkling. He surged forward, wrapping his lanky arms around you and spinning you around.
“YES! YES! A million times yes!” He gasped. You may as well have gotten on your knees and asked for his hand in marriage. “Oh my goodness this is all I've ever wanted. What are the wedding colors? I need to get a new sherwani.” He finally let you down, grabbing your shoulders and shaking you desperately, “WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS SOONER?!”
You gripped his hands, your cheeks aching from how hard you were smiling. Pavitr's energy was unmatched and you could feel his joy rubbing off on you.
“It’s really going to be a simple ceremony. And we didn’t want to pressure any of you with the typical wedding prep stuff.”
He looked incredulous, “So no bachelorette party? No-no manicure days or spa days or...”
You shook your head no and his jaw dropped.
“WRONG!” He shouted, touching the tip of your nose with his finger, “Are you free next Saturday night? Yes? Good.” He shook his finger at you, “No wedding prep stuff? Really? Pah!” He threw his hands in the air, muttering as he walked away and started dialing up Gwen and Miles.
“You told Pavitr before you told me?!” Gwen asked, mouth agape. She pushed her lunch tray to the side, the excitement chasing away her appetite for the time being.
“Fuck that. You told Pavitr before you told me?!” Miles slammed the milk carton on the table, spilling a few drops, “I thought I was your favorite.”
“Piss off, Miles.” Gwen teased, ruffling his curls. "I'm her favorite."
“One semester abroad with Hobie and you’re already sounding like a Brit.” He teased back, never moving far enough apart from her that they weren’t touching.
She’d recently gone for a shag haircut. The tips of her dyed hair fading into a pale bubblegum blue. The new nose piercing completed the look and Miles was smitten.
You wrung your hands together. “Well I’m telling you now! And! I’m asking you to be part of the wedding party. So what do you say? Wanna be a groomsman and a bridesmaid?”
They didn’t even look at each other before saying, “Absolutely!” In perfect unison.
The rest of the day went similarly, full of excited squeals and hugs and twirls. Everyone at Spidey-HQ - minus some of the newcomers - knew who you were and didn’t hesitate to shout their joy, whooping and calling out across the atrium.
“CONGRATS, TEACH!”
“LET’S GO! SPIDER-WEDDING!”
“CONGRATULATIONS!”
Hobie leaned against the window, hands shoved into the pockets of his patchwork leather jacket and flashing every color of the rainbow.
He stuck his hand out without a word, a crooked smile on his face, “I don’t believe in state-sanctioned marriage, you know. You and Miguel are already married - have been for ages in my book.”
“You rummaged around in your bag for the last of the invitations, finally locating the envelope that had slipped into one of the inner pockets and out of sight.
You hesitated, trying to hide your disappointment, “... so does that mean you’re not coming then?”
Hobie quickly snatched the invitation out of your hands, slinging his arm around your shoulder and rubbing the top of your head with his knuckles. You laughed, shoving him away and fixing the tangles he’d made in your hair.
“Pffft, of course I’m coming. It’s important to you.” He shoved the cream-colored paper into his pockets alongside a couple posters he hadn’t found a proper place to plaster them on yet. “Don’t be ridiculous.” He smirked, “But I hope you’re not expecting me to show up in a suit.”
“Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.”
“And are you going to ask me to be a groomsman or something? Make a toast at dinner?” There was no contempt in his voice… If anything he seemed expectant. Happy.
“Actually, Miguel and I were hoping you could be the flower girl with May and Benjy.”
He brightened up, flashing a sunflower yellow and shooting off curls of newspaper print like fireworks.
“HA! I like it. I like it.” He pulled his hands out of his pockets, opening his arms wide and sighing like he was giving up on an age-old war, “Alright, get in here, girl. I wanna hug you.”
You giggled, scrunching up your nose in satisfied glee as Hobie finally gave into his softness. He liked to pretend he was cooler than everyone else in the room - and he usually was - but that didn’t stop him from also being the softest person you’d ever met.
“Congratulations.” He said, propping his head up on top of your head and mussing up your hair once again.
“Thanks, Hobie.”
You weren’t alone in spreading the news - Miguel was making his own rounds. Margo was the first one he’d told, by virtue of the fact that she was nearest to his office.
“Hey, Margo.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck. He held out the envelope, Margo’s headpiece peeling away from her sleek cornrows. Her eyes glittered purple, wide open and staring.
“Really?” She asked hesitantly, reaching out for the paper.
“Of course, Margo. You’re family. We want you there.”
Her eyes softened and she read through the invitation quietly.
“Y/n was also hoping you’d be a bridesmaid.” He tapped the additional paper sealed in her envelope. “Nothing fancy, but we wanted you at the front with everyone else. Miles, Gwen, Peter B, LEGO P-oof.”
Miguel huffed as Margo all but rammed into his chest, the edges of her flickering. Who knew virtual reality bodies were so durable and dense.
“Thanks.” She mumbled, trying to keep any emotion out of her voice.
Margo didn’t like to talk about home, preferring the VR life she led with the Spider-Society. They were her real family now… she just liked the confirmation.
“Anytime, kid.”
She cleared her throat, pushing him away as quickly as she’d hugged him. “Alright, get out of here. I’m sure everyone wants to see you right now.” She turned around, wiping at her eyes in real life. Her VR body did the same.
Miguel chuckled, rubbing his neck again. He wasn’t used to the kind of attention he’d been receiving since meeting you and learning to open up again. It was almost as if he was likable when he wasn’t acting like a complete asshole.
He was chased by compliments and congratulations all day, Spider-people stopping him to clap him on the back or to bump shoulders like they knew just how absolutely whipped he was.
Something about announcing your engagement to the world made the whole thing feel more real, like he could taste it as physically as he could taste your lips whenever he kissed you. He didn’t wear his engagement ring very often for the same reasons as you, but he slipped it on his finger halfway through the day, standing a little straighter, and looking a little prouder after doing so.
LEGO Peter was next and he’d practically swooned when Miguel had handed him his invitation between his thumb and pointer finger. He’d printed an extra-small version for him. Then he’d fainted when Miguel asked him to be a groomsman, his brick body going rigid and toppling back with the same rattle as a teacup saucer.
“I’m taking that as a yes!” Miguel called out, slipping his head back out of the portal into his own universe.
He needed to make a home visit for Jessica, but she had a champagne bottle ready to burst when Miguel appeared into her home in a crackle of color and brushstrokes.
“AHH! HA!” She tossed her head back with glee. Her mane of pitch black hair smelled like coconut and citrus. “CONGRATULATIONS! Malcolm! Malcolm, get your ass in here. Miguel’s arrived.”
Her husband slid across the living room entrance, a chubby three-year-old boy balanced on his hip and grabbing at his locs.
“Miguel!”
“Hey, Malcolm.”
“Mig!”
“Heyyyy, Jefferson.” Miguel laughed when the little boy grabbed at him, latching onto a strand of brown hair and tugging.
Jessica clicked her tongue, “Jeff, what have we talked about.”
“Sorry.” The boy apologized, patting Miguel’s head and slapping him in the face in the process.
“It’s alright, kid.”
“OOooooh. Get in here, Migs.” Jessica was grinning brighter than the sun, radiating warmth as she wound her arms around his ribs and used her strength to lift him off his feet and shake him like a rag doll.
“Careful, Jess. Can’t break the groom before his wedding.”
“Pfffft, Miguel’s not made of glass, honey.”
That much was obvious enough. Miguel had to keep his body crooked to avoid banging his head against the hanging ceiling lights.
“Congratulations, man.” Malcolm hugged him next, being notably gentler than his wife. He still slapped Miguel’s back hard enough to rattle his shoulders though.
Miguel stayed for a long while, until him and Jess had made their way through three bottles of champagne just because they could. Their bodies burned through alcohol way too quickly to get drunk - a fact that had disappointed Miles when he went off to college for the first time last year.
Jess and Malcolm leaned towards one another like sunflowers to light, with little Jefferson splashed across both their knees and struggling to stay awake as the sun pressed against the windows and turned their pale yellow walls golden.
That would be him someday, with you and your son.
The thought shook him to his core. First, because it was a secret hope that he’d never dared to even dream about and second, because it was now possible. Wonderfully, beautifully possible.
His heart began to flutter, the absence of you by his side suddenly feeling like a gaping hole instead of a subtle ache.
Jess seemed to understand that, making a show of looking at the clock and then down at her son’s open mouth drooling against Malcolm’s arm.
“We should get this little guy to bed.”
“On it.”
“I’ll head out then. Thanks for everything, Jess.”
She made a noise with her tongue, brushing off his thanks with a graceful wave of her hand. “Get out of here you big sap. And tell Y/n I said congratulations too! Actually, scratch that. I’m coming in tomorrow so I’ll tell her in person.”
Miguel chuckled, “Alright then.”
He gave a final hug to Malcolm and Jessica. Jefferson stirred in his mother’s arms just long enough to babble something that sounded adorably close to, “I’m not… I’m not sleepy. I-” before his eyes rolled back and he slumped onto Jessica’s shoulder.
You sat curled up in Miguel’s office chair, legs thrown over one of the armrests as you flipped through the pages of your book on the life of Aubrey Vincent Beardsley. Occasionally your eyes would flicker to the array of monitors, watching the careful web of universes as they flickered and morphed. Fluid, but stable, and in a perfect balance of chaos and order.
Miguel drifted into the room behind you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and peppering the curve of your neck with kisses.
“Mi amor,” He murmured. You hummed happily, tilting your head further to give him better access. “How is everything going on with you?”
“Better now that you’re here.”
“That’s a pretty great answer.” He chuckled, finishing with a quick kiss to your lips. He came around, lifting you up with ease before sitting down in his chair and placing you in his lap, “And how are things in the Spider-Verse?”
You made a self-satisfied hmph sound. Thank god he’d finally stopped calling it the Arachno-Humanoid Poly-Multiverse. What a mouthful.
“Holding strong and steady.” You flicked your fingers to the side, pulling up the latest day report that you’d already handed two hours ago, “B76’s Black Cat and 1805’s Venom were the only anomalies. Done and dusted with no issue. Reports are on file under Project Catalyst.”
“Perfect.”
Miguel stretched comfortably, curling in on you and resting his head on your chest like the world’s most luxurious cat.
You snorted, blinking your book away with a snap of your fingers and running your fingers through his hair just the way he liked. He groaned softly when you lightly dragged your fingernails against his scalp.
“Right there, babe.” He encouraged, sighing with contentment.
You stayed like that for a long while, one of Miguel’s arms wrapped around your waist and his other hand snaking up your stomach to rub circles against your smooth skin. Unbeknownst to you, he was quietly thinking about what it might be like if you ever decided to have kids. If one day he’d be so lucky to lay like this against you and quietly talk to the little child growing in your stomach.
He shook his head, he was getting ahead of himself.
“Everything ok, Migs?” You curled your finger beneath his chin, gently tilting his face up to look at you. His eyes softened.
“Yeah. Everything’s perfect.”
You couldn’t help it, you blushed under the softness of his gaze. It was strange how you could get into hundreds of fist-fights, get knocked on your ass dozens of times over, and yet crumble at the sight of his auburn eyes. You didn’t mind the vulnerability though - you knew Miguel felt the same.
You looked down at his hands, noticing the flash of silver on his finger.
"You wore it today?"
He smiled when you took his hand in yours, kissing his palm, "Felt appropriate."
You tugged the necklace out from under your shirt, carefully slipping the ring off the chain. Miguel took it wordlessly from you, gently kissing your hand before sliding the ring onto your finger. It was warm to the touch after hours pressed against your heart and Miguel felt a surge of love flood his chest seeing you wear it.
“Busy day, huh?” You asked when he settled back down, holding your hand tightly in his.
He groaned, “You could say that. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many people talk to me in my life.”
You prodded him in the side, “That’s not saying very much.”
“Ouch.” He grinned, kissing your chest.
“Did everyone say yes to joining the wedding party?”
“Yes. You?”
“Yup.” Your lips popped on the end of the word.
Miguel grinned wide and unabashedly leaning closer to you, “Then we got ourselves a wedding,” he said, smiling against your lips. He tasted like coffee and cinnamon.
You chuckled, “Maybe we shouldn’t have sprung this on them so soon.”
Miguel shrugged, “We needed to tell them at some point, cariño. And it’s not like we’re doing all the extra stuff. They just need to show up to the church at this point.”
“I know that. But Pavitr seemed to disagree. Apparently I'm going to have a bachelorette party next weekend.”
He pouted, “No party for me?! I’m hurt.”
“Peter didn’t bring it up with you? I thought he'd be over the moon about being Best Man.”
Miguel’s head shot up, thick brows furrowing in confusion beneath a bed of ruffled curls, “I thought you were going to tell Peter.”
You tipped your head to the side, “I thought you were going to tell to Peter?”
“Yeah, LEGO Peter.”
Silence, thick and full of horror fell over both of you.
“Did… did neither of us tell Peter and MJ?” You whispered.
Miguel closed his eyes, his face plummeting into the soft skin of your chest, “Fuuuuuuuuuck.”
The double doors to Miguel’s office slid open with a groan of disappointment. Peter stood there with his legs splayed, carving out a disgruntled shape in his signature pink bathrobe that he never took off, especially with the new addition to his family.
Mayday clung to her father’s chest, her brother’s chestnut mop poking out from behind Peter’s shoulder. Benjy’s grin was gummy and wide and he wore matching noise-canceling headphones with his sister.
“Fuck.” You repeated, your face falling flat.
MJ leaned against the doorway and rubbed her temples with one hand, shoulders shaking with repressed laughter as Peter stalked forward, absolutely livid.
“You MOTHERFUCK—

Deciding it would take too long to drive all the way back to Nevermore for Larissa to change, she opted to shift her appearance for the day. It would take a little effort to maintain, but it was worth it for a day out with you. She watched as you got dressed, laughing when you grumbled about how unfair her shapeshifting was and distracting you with teasing comments and kisses - seeing you blush and stutter seemed to make Larissa laugh even harder.
Larissa became quiet as you started the car and you watched her curiously for a moment, before pulling out of your parking spot.
“What’s up?” you asked once you’d pulled onto the main road and Larissa still hadn’t said anything.
“The day we met, you were working on an assignment…”
You couldn’t help the blush that crept up your cheeks as you recalled that afternoon. “Yeah, why?”
“I was wondering if you’d ever finished it?” Glancing over at the passenger seat, you could see Larissa was watching you quite curiously - it made you laugh.
“No. If you recall, I got a bit distracted,” you teased. “I ended up having to improvise.”
“Oh? Distracted, you say?” Larissa husked, enjoying the way your blush darkened and your eyes widened at the suggestive tone she used.
“I-I would love to sketch you again sometime though,” you whispered, glancing over again to gauge her reaction. “Properly, I mean. If you would want that.”
A blush of her own colored her features and she smiled softly. “I think that could be arranged,” she murmured.
Larissa insisted she take you to her favorite boutique in downtown Burlington - a gem she was glad to have discovered, she told you. In turn, she wanted you to show her where you liked to shop. You agreed, parking in the marketplace garage so that you could walk from there.
The back of your hand brushed lightly against hers as you strolled and you took the opportunity to loosely link your fingers together - Larissa looked down at your intertwined hands, her eyes widening slightly. Then she met your gaze and a warm smile spread across her face, one that reached her eyes - they crinkled at the outer corners, her nose scrunching slightly.
Your first stop was a thrift shop that you frequented. The shop was a bit eccentric and cluttered, but you almost always found something you liked, and it was perfect for your budget as a student. Larissa followed you as you searched the racks, watching you with a small smile on her face.
“Are you looking for anything in particular?” she asked curiously.
You shrugged. “Not really, you find more if you go in without expectations. But I guess I might need new jeans at some point.”
Larissa hummed in acknowledgment and the two of you continued to browse the shop.
“What about these?” Larissa held out a pair of dark wash jeans and you grinned.
“Yeah, maybe. I’ll have to try them on.”
A few minutes later, you set off for the changing rooms, Larissa perching on a small stool just outside. When you pulled back the curtain wearing the jeans Larissa had chosen for you, her eyes lit up and she smirked.
“Spin around for me darling?”
You turned slowly on the spot, flushing at Larissa’s seductive tone.
“Well?”
Larissa glanced away, checking that no one was watching, before pulling you between her legs and pressing a kiss to your lips. “You look divine, my love,” she purred with a wink - you could feel yourself grow weak in the knees, a steady ache building between your thighs.
You tried on a few more things - a vintage sweater, a jumpsuit that definitely didn’t fit you and had Larissa chuckling and coming to help you with the zipper, another pair of jeans - before deciding on the sweater and the jeans that Larissa had picked for you and heading to the register.
“What did I say about treating you?” Larissa teased, swatting your hand away as you reached for your wallet.
“But-” It was too late - the card reader let out a little beep and your clothes were paid for.
“Dinner’s on me then,” you grumbled after accepting the shopping bag from the cashier.
“Alright, darling,” Larissa chuckled. “It’s a deal.”
You linked hands again as you left the shop, allowing Larissa to guide you to her own favorite shop. She stopped in front of a small, fancy looking boutique. You’d walked past it before but you knew you couldn’t afford it so you’d never gone in. She opened the door, letting go of your hand to rest hers on the small of your back and usher you inside.
Taking in the shop, you could definitely see the appeal it held for Larissa. It was the complete opposite of the dimly lit, grungy vintage shop you’d just left - bright, pristine, expensive, neat.
You trailed behind her a bit like a lost puppy, watching as she perused the racks and ran her fingers delicately along the clothes on display. A red, satin dress caught your eye and you pulled it off the rack. It had a deep neckline and a halter top, it looked like the type of dress that would hug every curve. You couldn’t help but wonder how it would look on Larissa - she tended to dress so conservatively that the thought of her cleavage on display was incredibly tantalizing.
“This would look nice on you, I think.” Larissa held up a long, black woolen coat. You had to agree - of all the things in this shop, it came closest to your style, and it looked perfect for the winter. You blushed.
“You really don’t have to buy me a coat,” you muttered sheepishly, accepting the garment as she handed it to you. “I can-” Your words died in your throat as you read the price tag. Larissa chuckled and took your chin between her fingers, tilting your head up to meet her gaze.
“I enjoy buying people gifts. I have the money to spare - maybe one day you will, too, but until then I’d like to help you take care of yourself. And that means being properly clothed so you don’t freeze to death on me.” Larissa’s tone was light and teasing, her gaze intense as it locked with your own.
“Fine. I’ll try it on, if you try this one on.” You held up the red dress, a cheeky grin on your face. Larissa’s cheeks turned pink as she eyed the dress. She looked as though she’d like to protest, but you raised your eyebrows and she sighed.
“Fair is fair,” she said, following you to the changing rooms.
“You first.” You smirked at Larissa - she rolled her eyes, mumbling something about you being bossy and disappearing behind the curtain. It felt like ages had passed but, finally, the curtain was pulled back, your jaw dropping at the sight.
“Wow,” was all you managed to say. Red was definitely Larissa’s color. The dress accentuated her pale skin and almost perfectly matched her lipstick and her nails. You’d been right about the neckline - it was very low and her supple cleavage was perfectly on display. The dress clung to every curve of her body, to her hips, the soft swell of her lower stomach - you felt your mouth go dry.
“Well?” Larissa teased, her face flushed. “Cat got your tongue?”
“You look… fuck…”
Larissa chuckled, covering her mouth with her hand. “I haven’t worn something like this in a very long time.”
“I mean I guess it’s not very, uh, principal-like,” you giggled. Larissa laughed, her eyes gleaming as her blush started to fade.
“No, I don’t think it’s quite work-appropriate,” she teased, trailing her fingers along the neckline - your eyes were drawn to the way she subtly caressed the soft flesh, and you could feel yourself getting wet.
“My eyes are up here, darling,” Larissa purred, and you snapped your gaze up to her face, biting your lip and muttering out an apology.
“No need to be sorry, I’m actually quite flattered - but if you don’t mind, I think I’ll be leaving this here for someone else.”
“I just wanted to see you try it on,” you replied with a grin, rising onto your toes to press your lips to Larissa’s. She smiled into the kiss, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear as she pulled back, her fingertips trailing lightly along your jaw.
“Give me a moment.” Larissa changed back into her clothes and stepped out of the changing room, gesturing to the coat that you were still holding. “Your turn.” You slipped out of your jacket and pulled on the coat in its place - it fit beautifully, and your assumption had been right - it would be very warm. You twisted your body this way and that, trying to see it from every angle. Larissa stood behind you, her gaze meeting your own in the mirror - she looked pleased, a bright smile on her face. She rested her chin on your shoulder and hugged you from behind.
“Do you like it?”
“I do, actually,” you admitted with a shy smile. “Are you sure? I could-”
Larissa silenced you by placing a finger over your lips. “I’m quite certain, my dear.”
“Thank you,” you whispered, your lips tingling where her finger had been seconds before.
~~~
“What do you fancy for dinner tonight?” Larissa asked as you stepped out onto the street again.
“Umm… do burgers sound okay?”
“Yes, love. That sounds perfect. There’s a great place in Jericho on the way back to Nevermore, if you’d like to join me at home tonight?”
You could barely conceal your grin as you nodded enthusiastically.
After stopping briefly at your apartment to drop off the shopping bags and pick up a change of clothes and some toiletries, you made the drive back to Nevermore, making a pit stop at the burger place on the way.
You followed Larissa back to her office, proud of yourself that you could remember the way - and more than a little in awe that she seemed to know exactly which corridors to take to avoid bumping into anyone.
The lock to her office door clicked behind you, Larissa offering you a wink and pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I think I’d like to sit in front of the fire tonight, if you don’t mind,” she remarked, heading over to the empty fireplace and busying herself with lighting a fire. “I find it so romantic.”
The burgers were delicious - Larissa had impeccable taste. A bottle of wine was soon opened as you sat on the little sofa in front of the fire. That bottle quickly turned into two and, before you knew it, you were more than a little tipsy and engaged in a heavy make-out session, tongues and teeth clashing as you swallowed each other’s moans.
“You have me wrapped around your little finger, you know that, darling?” Larissa husked, her breathy voice lighting a fire in your belly.
You whimpered, the heat within your core radiating outwards until you were warm all over - or was that just the alcohol? Maybe it was the fire…
“You’re very pretty,” she purred, capturing your lips again. “And you’re making very pretty noises for me.”
A groan escaped your lips which was immediately swallowed by Larissa.
“I’d like to shift for you again, if that’s okay?” she murmured against your lips. It took your brain a moment to catch up but once you understood what she meant, you nodded enthusiastically, a soft moan escaping your throat.
Larissa leaned towards you, brushing her lips against the shell of your ear and biting gently at your earlobe. You shivered as her hot breath caressed the side of your neck.
“I want you to feel how hard you’ve made me,” she husked, her voice low and dripping with lust. She took your wrist gently between her fingers and guided your hand towards the waistband of her slacks, undoing the button with her other hand as she pushed your hand inside.
“Shit,” you mumbled when your fingers brushed against her bulge. You palmed the cock through her underwear, your walls clenching around nothing as Larissa groaned and bit down on the junction between your shoulder and your neck.
You rubbed your thumb against the appendage and Larissa whimpered into your shoulder.
“Can we… Do you want to ride my dick?” she asked breathily, pulling back to meet your gaze.
Your breathing stuttered - the thought was overwhelmingly hot to you - and you nodded fervently. “Yeah. Yes.”
Larissa tugged her slacks down in a hurry, unable to hide the eagerness written across her face. Your eyes dropped to her underwear, where her bulge strained against the thin, lacy fabric.
“Can I?” you whispered breathlessly. Larissa nodded, settling back against the couch with her legs spread slightly. You moved in front of her, placing your palms on her thighs and rubbing slow, soothing circles upwards until you reached her hips. Larissa had begun to squirm impatiently - her eyes were heavy-lidded, her lips parted slightly, a deep flush was spreading across her chest as her breathing became heavier.
“Darling,” she warned, her voice breathy. “Please…”
You wanted to keep teasing her forever, but she looked almost uncomfortably aroused, so you took pity on her and - finally - tugged at the waistband of her underwear. She shimmied her hips to help you pull them down, and the two of you groaned almost simultaneously when her cock was freed of its restraints, standing immediately to attention.
You pulled her underwear the rest of the way down her long legs, gently caressing the skin as you went, before standing to remove your own jeans and panties, which were already soaked.
Kicking them to the side, you straddled Larissa’s lap, steadying yourself by placing your hands on her shoulders. Larissa surged forward, capturing your lips in a searing kiss - one that was simultaneously so loving yet also so frantic that it made your stomach coil tightly.
“I want you to take me,” you mumbled against her lips, your breaths mingling. Your heat was aching, ready to be filled.
Larissa moaned at your words and you felt her hands on your waist, her grip gentle yet firm. You shifted your hips, allowing Larissa to line you up with herself before slowly pressing you down. You bit your lip as you felt her slip inside of you. Larissa whimpered eagerly, her eyelashes fluttering and her mouth falling open, but she waited patiently for you to adjust to her girth, allowing you to set the pace.
Once the initial sting of being stretched out so suddenly had subsided, you sunk down further, digging your nails into Larissa’s shoulders as you went, until she was fully sheathed inside of you and your pelvis was resting against hers. You allowed your head to drop forward, your forehead resting against her own.
“Are you okay?” Larissa whispered into the space between you two.
You chuckled breathily, your lips spreading into a blissful smile - one that Larissa immediately mirrored. “More than okay,” you reassured her.
“Take your time, pretty girl.” Larissa’s voice was so gentle that it made your heart clench. You pulled back to meet her gaze, almost surprised by the pure adoration that swirled in her widened pupils. You met your lips to hers in a needy kiss, licking into her mouth - the taste of wine was strong on her tongue and you kissed her with feverish desperation.
Feeling your walls flutter in anticipation, you began to move your hips. Larissa moaned loudly into your mouth - the alcohol seemed to be making her even more uninhibited than usual.
You began to thrust against Larissa, slowly at first, with her hands guiding your hips. Her lips attached to your pulse point, sucking and nibbling gently before soothing over the skin with her tongue.
Riding Larissa felt heavenly - the feeling of being filled by her was like no other. She knew exactly how to move to have you moaning her name in desperation. What you liked most, though, was knowing the older woman could feel it too - knowing that you shared in the pleasure, that you could make her feel good.
Larissa rutted her hips up into you with abandon, a string of obscenities spilling out of her mouth as your pussy clenched around her.
“Oh god,” she groaned as you sped up your pace on top of her, letting out little whimpers and moans as she hit what felt like every single nerve-ending inside of you. “You’re amazing.”
“Fuck, R-rissa,” you stuttered out, your chest heaving. You were getting close, and you could tell she was too. You twisted your hands in her hair, ruining her perfect updo, as her grip on your waist became vice-like, fingernails digging little half-moons into your skin. Pulling her by the hair, you kissed her sloppily.
You swallowed Larissa’s cries as she tumbled over the edge. Feeling her cum inside of you pushed you to your own peak, and you felt her arms wrap protectively around your torso as you rode out your high, then slowed your movements until you were still on top of her.
Larissa helped you off her cock, pressing a kiss to your forehead when you mewled at the sudden emptiness. A second later, she had already shifted her anatomy back.
“I’ll be right back, love,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to your forehead and disappearing into her quarters, returning with a warm washcloth. She was gentle as she cleaned you up, and when you looked down between your thighs, you could see you’d stained the upholstery of the sofa.
“Shit, I’m sorry!” Your eyes were wide but Larissa merely laughed.
“It’s as much my fault as it is yours, darling.” She took a seat next to you again and opened her arms for you, pulling you back on her lap.
“Can I ask you something? About your shifting?” Your voice was quiet and apprehensive - you still worried from time to time that you would somehow offend Larissa with your questions.
Larissa hummed in response, still looking a bit dazed.
“Do you like shifting… that part of yourself?” You felt your cheeks grow hot. “I mean, you always shift back so fast so… I guess I’m asking how it feels for you?”
Larissa paused, brushing a hair off your forehead and tucking it behind your ear, seemingly deep in thought. “Mmh, that’s a good question, my love. I’m not… I don’t love it, but I love how it feels?” Her pitch rose at the end of her statement, as if she wasn’t quite sure of her answer.
“What do you mean?”
“The first time I did it, it was because an ex-girlfriend of mine wanted me to. I felt like a freak, to be quite honest. But I realized how nice it feels to be inside someone. I can feel you… around me and it’s very arousing. A light blush adorned Larissa’s cheeks - she looked absolutely adorable.
You nodded along, mulling her words over in your head. You supposed it would feel weird to have a completely different body part suddenly. The more you thought about it, the more questions you had, though one in particular made your stomach churn uncomfortably.
“Wait…” You could feel your face turning red as you struggled to come up with a way to voice your concerns. “Could I get pregnant?”
Larissa laughed. “I suppose you could… if I shifted my internal anatomy, which I don’t do. Don’t worry, darling. I would be more careful than that.”
A sigh of relief escaped your lips - you didn’t think that Larissa would be so careless, but you couldn’t help but worry, knowing so little about shapeshifting and how it works.
“Okay, good. If… if we had a child, would it be a shapeshifter too?”
“Do you want a biology lesson?” Larissa teased, and you buried your head into the crook of her neck, blushing profusely with embarrassment. “There’s a chance our child would be a shapeshifter, yes. Or a normie, though outcast genes tend to be stronger.”
You hummed in response, nuzzling your face into Larissa’s neck as she tugged you closer, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. A comfortable silence enveloped the two of you, save for the soothing crackling of the fire as you held each other close.
“Darling, may I ask you something?” Larissa’s fingers drew lazy patterns along your hip.
“Anything,” you breathed.
“Feel free to say no, this may be very forward of me but… Would you like to go away with me? For a weekend I mean, a little trip just for us. I could take you to New York, we could see a musical or something.”
You leaned back, meeting Larissa’s gaze. She was smiling but there seemed to be a touch of apprehension in her eyes, as if she were afraid you’d say no. As if you could ever say no to her - a weekend away with her sounded like absolute heaven.
“God, yes, I would love to, Riss. You really wanna go on a trip together?”
Larissa nodded, her eyes lighting up. “The timing is absolutely awful at the moment, the Rave’N is coming up soon and then it’s already parent’s weekend… perhaps the weekend after that? In three weeks?”
“Anytime.” You beamed at her. “What’s the Rave’N?”
Larissa hummed, pursing her lips in thought. “It’s our school dance. Like a prom, I suppose.”
“That sounds nice.” You allowed yourself to melt further into her, wrapping your arms around her neck and pulling her close, leaning your head on her chest. “I had a lot of fun at prom, I went with my friends.”
“Yes, well, I’m sure the students will have a lovely time,” Larissa murmured absentmindedly, sounding deep in thought as she tightened her grip on your waist and rested her chin on your head. Larissa stared into the flames as your own eyes drifted shut and you yawned.
“Come on, let’s get you to bed,” Larissa whispered, suppressing a yawn of her own.
You hummed sleepily, allowing her to slide you off her lap and guide you to her bedroom, where you fell asleep quickly wrapped in Larissa’s arms.
I know it's a Boomer complaint but like. So many things are just becoming garbage now. Metaphorical and physical garbage.
The internet filling with bots and AI programs swallowing and regurgitating and training off of each other's nonsense until search engines can't accurately answer a simple question.
Lower quality meat and produce shipping to grocery stores, coupled with more foodborne illnesses.
The rise of 'bin stores' where shoppers sift through mounds of returned, unwanted, and broken items in hopes of a rare gem.
Gentrification of thrifting and shopping for secondhand items, where gently worn items become "vintage" and are sold for like-new prices, leaving thrift stores with worse quality clothing.
Similarly, fast fashion getting faster with online retailers like Shein and Temu.
Planned obsolescence continuing, of course. More expensive technology that has a shorter lifespan made with lower quality materials.
People not even considering answering a phone call from an unfamiliar number because there's a 95% chance it's a robocall or scam.
So much noise and so much junk. Many different issues, many of them with the same root cause. I don't have a solution here I just need to express how TIRED I AM OF GARBAGE.
Where to buy lingerie?🥀 Girlhood Tips #1 🥀
Tumblr media
Whatever happened to wearing beautiful undergarments while prancing around our rooms? One of the staples of being youthful is now seemingly dead and gone. I love to whine down in my fabulous undies and sway to my favorite songs.
Hopefully we can bring this tradition back! To help kick start this, I’ve compiled a list of size inclusive lingerie brands from cheapest to more pricier items.
(If you guys want more options or help please let me know! I'm a chronic online shopper😭)
$
(1-20 USD per set/item)
AliExpress
Ali express stores is the absolute cheapest option for both price and size…yall already know it's fast fashion most times but some reputable brands from them are (IEUHIA, Wriufred, ChenFa Store, and Aiangelaquin official store)
Not much to elaborate here but they usually have a XXS-XXL
Cannot link the stores but just search up by the shop name.
FreetheFrillies
Tumblr media
Handmade undergarments shop based out of the United Kingdom, features both religious and Victorian imagery on their clothing.
Sustainably at a reasonable price is one of their main concerns and they take pride in hand sewing each and every one of their items before they are shipped to you!
Material includes cotton, satin and elastics.
Sizes ranges from UK8/10 to UK16/18
ShopCryBunni
Tumblr media
Small indie early brand ran by a student in Salt Lake, Utah! Very simple designs usually solid color or floral garments with a small bow or a flower on top. Very affordable.
Shipping is quick and punctual usually taking 2-3 days on average inside of the US. Internal customers can take up to 2-3weeks.
Sizes range from xxs-L US standard and does not make custom sizing outside of that at the moment.
$$
(30-70 USD per set/item)
AKAMYDINH
Tumblr media
Small fashion label based in Saigon, Vietnam. They repurpose factory scraps and excess to make their brand as sustainable and ethical as possible! Their lingerie is simple solid colored bikini style sets with a frill finish. Occasionally with a cherry, bow, or floral embellishment.
XXS-XXL is the sizes offered with a additional custom sizing upon request!
70% of their items are made to order while the other 30% is made by fairly paid seamstresses.
Quick and helpful customer service with an outstanding 4.8 stars. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for simple yet ethical clothing.
Besos Biquinis
Tumblr media
Famous tik tok brand that is known for their super cute vintage day of the week panties packs!
Their other items are more expensive like the 100+ range but most of their undies are $40-70 USD
Sizining is XS to XL usually. However, only going up to L in bottoms. Biggest cup size is C-DD cup without band specifics.
Unsure about custom sizing but I’d assume not? It’s always worth it to email! :)
Cute packaging and great customers service from what I’ve hear they also send out PRs soooo….if you have a big following definitely worth checking them out
ShesArMermaidCat
Tumblr media
An absolute classic in the coquette community! She makes Dolores haze inspired garments with bloomers and cupcake style tops. The sets are usually solid colored or gingham! Perfect for the more modest Americana girlies.
She’s a gem and has amazing communication. You can also request a custom piece or size.
Each and every set is made to order and is handmade right out of California. 10/10 definitely recommend this shop for every Lolita!
FeelingVaugeVintage
Tumblr media
Exotic dancer style lingerie brand. This is for the girls who are secy workers or love that style of lingerie. Much more form fitting, skimpy and trashy which I love and I know there's girls who love it too!
Handmade brand based off of esty who is always running sales. Currently offer 20% off when you buy two and 30% off when you buy three! Great deal an already cheap brand.
Sizing is a standard S-L but with any handmade brand just message the seller and ask if they can make a custom size just for you ;) they are a very sweet and punctual seller and they have well over 16,000 sales and a 4.8 star! Definitely recommend!
PurrfectPineapples
Tumblr media
Cruelty free lingerie brand based out of Chicago, Illinois. The underwear is all pinup, vintage rockefeller style. Using vintage prints and designs. The embellishments are simple and usually lace or bows. Most sets include bra, panties, and a garter belt for about 60ish USD which is amazing tbh!
This brand is handmade to order and does take custom orders/sizing. The wait time is anywhere from 2 weeks to a month at most for an order.
Great customer services and many ways to pay including klarna payment plans.
(80-100+ per set/item)
$$$
Malicious designs
Tumblr media
Handmade sustainable brand that sells tons of babydoll and lolita style clothes. This business is ran by Sheana Hinesley and is a fairly popular place to shop both on Depop and Etsy! They use standard sizing US S - L and is open to doing custom sizing
I do own an outfit for them and well made and I do think it’s worth the price! Fair warning is that shipping takes. 3 months to a year….. And at times their communication is less than the standard.
Would mainly suggest either buying second hand or through their Etsy for the best experience possible!
International shipping plus esty allows payment plans soooooo
Buttress and snatch.
Tumblr media
A handmade and sustainable brand that sells 60's american style lingerie with beautiful craftsmanship. Most of their items have bows, rose, or lace embellishments which are a must for any lolita! They are based in the UK with international shipping. The cup sizes goes all away up to a. 36E/40DD and the bottoms up to a size UK18!
For the more adultish sexy girls they do have see through and fully lace garments. For the girls love the environment they have a line of items that are all made out of 100% recycled cotton shirts! How cool.
The brand also has great customer services and can do custom sizing if needed. If you’re ever worried about size conversion please shoot them an email.
They also have a one cup bra for support for anyone that needs that which I think is absolutely amazing. Definitely worth a look.
Love for lemons 🍋
Extremely well known sister brand of Victoria’s Secret that has absolute gorgeous pieces. Their pieces are packed with laces, frills, and florals! Perfect for a more mature, classy coquette.
Unfortunately not as size or comfort inclusive as our last pick but they do have sizes ranging from. XXS-2X and the cups can go up to a big as 38DDD but unfortunately that’s usually for select items such as teddies :/
One the bright side items such as garters, shoes, skirts, and swimwear is available compared to other brands. International shipping is available as well as sales and discounts. P.s. there’s a sale going on for $30 USD on select items.
Good customer services with no custom sizing however you should always mail before buying if unsure! I’d still pick lemons over Victoria’s any day! Tea.
RESOURCES FOR ARTISTS VOL 1
In the spirit of gratitude for the plethora of free resources out there for artists that I've been gleefully ransacking my entire life, I want to share some of them that I've compiled.
smithsonian open access: this is a HUGE one! lots of images that are absolutely free to use, as well as an incredible set of 3-D resources. Their collection spans the same breadth that their multiple museums do-- natural history, gems, fine art, aerospace/engineering stuff, etc. so do not sleep on this.
Tumblr media
(screenshot is the 3-D digitization page, one of my fav sections)
2. The League of Moveable Type is a resource for free fonts, but not just any free fonts-- professionally designed free fonts. Some of the bigger sites can be a lot of wading through sub par stuff, but every single thing here was very carefully and lovingly designed, and is free.
3. Unsplash is full of great free to use images. Seriously, huge collection. Portraits, textures, 3-D renderings, you name it and it's probably here and free to use. ALSO cool because images will note whether their creator is for hire if you like their work. You can also submit your images to this platform. (I think it has a premium section but I haven't needed to engage with it yet)
Tumblr media
(screenshot of unsplash.com with a search for 'y2k render')
4. rawpixel's Public Domain collection. They've been high quality scanning public domain images for a while. They're free to use under a CC0 license, which is basically without restriction. They've got lots of categories, I personally love the Graphic Design and the Vintage Illustration sections.
Tumblr media
(screenshot of the 'patterns' section of the Public Domain collection on rawpixel)
5. Photopea is a free Photoshop alternative that runs in your browser. It's got a few quirks(especially if you run a non-chromium browser, but stay strong anyway) and is ad-supported, but really powerful and robust. It also opens PSD files, supports smart objects and basically all of the Photoshop asset filetypes(.abr .grad .pat etc), as well as has filters, even a couple that Photoshop itself has gotten rid of in their more recent versions. You can use the fonts on your machine, export transparent pngs, and do generally anything that the big guy does. You can also donate a small amount to remove ads and support the singe person(!) who created and maintains it.
Tumblr media
(screenshot of a .psd file with smart objects/smart filters open on photopea. The 'file' dropdown menu shows exciting options such as 'export' and 'save as psd')
6. Brusheezy.com is a great place to get free brushes, vectors, and photoshop assets in general(which can all be used in Photopea, btw).
Tumblr media
(screenshot of the 'categories' page of brusheezy.com)
7. dafont.com Last but not least, I will include this huge font site but assume most people already have it on their radar. Free fonts! No account needed to download! Tons of categories! Many are demo/limited versions, so pay attention especially if you plan to use numbers or special characters as those are often the things left out of the free to use demo versions. It's nice to have a lot of options but to the discerning eye a decent amount of the fully free fonts here will fall a bit short/feel unpolished. That's not to discourage you from it, as I have a huge collection of types from here and routinely check it when I need something specific.
Tumblr media
(screenshot of dafonts.com with the 'sci-fi' section pulled up)
So that's what I've got right now for visual art resources, I hope you can find something useful in here. Feel free to share this list and keep an eye out for the next one! Thanks to everyone out their with a love for sharing in their hearts, it's really inspired me to make some things with no other intention than to put them into the world as tools for others!
Boyfriend Vibes - LHS
Tumblr media
pairing: lee heeseung x y/n
genre: fluff, best friends to lovers
rating: pg
notes: heeseung was so cute in the newest en-oclock. god, i wish he was my boyfriend
plot: after a shopping trip with some of their closest friends, y/n realizes that there might be something more to their relationship with heeseung than they thought
Walking into the trendy shop, you were immediately overwhelmed with racks upon racks of vintage clothing. Your friends, Sunoo and Jay, gasped and immediately went to look through the racks for anything that might catch their eye. Your best friend, however, stayed back and turned to wink at you.
Your relationship with Heeseung has been growing increasingly more complicated as time has gone on. You met in elementary school when Heeseung accidentally knocked you over while playing soccer during recess. He immediately helped you up while apologizing profusely and walked you over to the school nurse to make sure everything was okay even though you insisted that you were fine. Ever since then, he was always watching over you and was there for all the major events growing up. You know everything about each other.
In the last few weeks, you’ve noticed Heeseung acting strange. You are no stranger to Heeseung’s flirty ways, but recently it’s like it’s been turned up to one hundred. He was always finding excuses to put his arms around you or making sure that you were by his side. While you would be lying if you said you had never looked at Heeseung as anything other than your best friend, you were scared of what would happen to your friendship of you took the chance to take things further and it didn’t work out.
“Hey, are you guys going to look around or are you just going to stand there looking at each other like idiots?”  Jay snickered as Sunoo giggled from a rack behind him.
Heeseung winked at you and walked over to join Jay at the vintage jacket rack. You blushed, but your thoughts were interrupted by Sunoo. “Hey Y/n, what do you think about these?” Sunoo asked, holding out a pair of overalls with a green detail on the front pocket. You move over and start helping Sunoo find the right accessories to go with his outfits.
A few hours had passed, and you thought you were successful in forgetting your situation with Heeseung. With all the racks you had to go through, your focus quickly switched from freaking out about your best friend to finding the cutest items of clothing to add to your closet. The four of you searched through the entire store for hidden gems and outfit staples, leaving no rack unturned.
Now was the moment of truth. The four of you headed over to the fitting rooms to try on your outfits. Sunoo came out first wearing the first pair of overalls he found, a gray turtleneck, and vintage leather boots. Jay was next sporting a leather jacket and blue jeans. You came third wearing a dark green dress and old nikes. Heeseung was last. He found a jean jacket with a fuzzy collar, some brown trousers, and a white tshirt. The outfit was fairly simple, but something about it made you feel butterflies in your stomach.
“*Wow, hyung. You look good!” Jay whistled.
“Total boyfriend vibes,” Sunoo agreed.
“What do you think, y/n?” Three pairs of eyes looked straight at you, waiting for your response.
You gulped and took another look at Heeseung’s outfit. It just looked so good. You can imagine him wearing it on a date to the movies or to a farmers market or a nice restaurant...
“Y/n?” You realized you had probably been staring for quite a while.
“Oh, sorry i just zoned out haha... but yeah Hee, you look good. Boyfriend vibes for sure.” Heeseung smiled and chuckled a little.
Jay and Sunoo started laughing while heading back to the fitting rooms to change back into the clothes they walked in with. You were about to do the same, but as you started walking away, Heeseung reached out and put his arm on your shoulder to stop you. “Y/n, can I talk to you for a sec?” You nodded and stood in front of him. “I don’t know how to really say this. I’ve tried to leave hints, but it hasn’t really seemed like you got them. I think I’m starting to like you as more than a friend. I don’t want to ruin our friendship, so if you don’t feel the same we can just forget this ever happened.”
Hearing Heeseung actually admit to what you had been suspecting for a while felt like a weight off your shoulders. Suddenly, you had no doubts.  “I feel the same way Hee. Let’s go out to dinner tomorrow night?”
“Yeah, that sounds good.” Heeseung smiled. You leaned over, gave Heeseung a kiss to the cheek, and walked back to the fitting room to change, leaving Heeseung a flustered mess behind you. Heeseung broke from his trance when he heard giggling. he looked up and saw Jay and Sunoo standing outside of their fitting rooms. They overheard the whole thing.
“Looks like you’re an actual boyfriend now, hyung,” Jay teased, watching Heeseung blush.
“I guess I am.”
as someone who is also trying to overhaul their entire wardrobe after throwing out fast fashion pieces,, do you have any specific brands you like, advice on places to get clothes for long-term wear, etc? ty!!
thank you for asking! this is a long post but it's been my life for a bit now so i would suggest reading through it to skip the learning stages that i went through the hard way! there is some important and useful info here :) brand recs at the end
i would suggest looking for vintage or secondhand clothes first and foremost bc that's how you can find quality pieces for a reasonable price :)
if you want pure longevity, synthetics like polyester, nylon, elastane, etc will last not only your lifetime but your grandchildrens' too. they can be quite comfortable sometimes BUT:
they will likely break down in hundreds of years
they are NOT biodegradable and so will break down into microplastics and toxic microfibers
for me and a lot of others, you will notice the difference in quality in synthetics vs fabrics like cotton and virgin wool. i refuse to buy synthetics for the above reasons but also bc they just Feel Worse idk how to explain iykyk (tip especially valuable for autistic ppl)
brands: all depend on style so look for the styles you like/want to dress in on pinterest, then track down the original designer of the dress! from there you can search irl places or plug the designers into apps like:
vinted: cheaper vintage or second hand clothes from all sorts of brands
vestiare collective: more high-end, pieces are authenticated and usually in great condition
GEM: a gem of a site truly, accumulates all the finds from your search from different websites like ebay, etc
depop: honestly not the biggest fan but can be good sometimes! make sure to buy vintage/secondhand and ask sellers for the brand to not get sold an aliexpress dupe for 100 bucks
vintage shops: especially good for accessories like belts and ties. vintage shops usually have much better stuff than charity shops
kilo sales: THE BEST PLACES IRL in my opinion i got a 2k+ virgin wool coat for £20 . honestly in my experience kilo sales are great. check out Worth the Weight if you're in the UK!
remember that brand history matters! for example vivienne westwood has a great reputation as luxury punk but the pieces produced in recent years are actually very low in quality, defintely not worth the money for a lot of people! pay for quality, not just the name :) same goes for jean paul gaultier's recent pieces imo.
additional VERY USEFUL tips:
the standard zipper used by most of the companies making your garments is YKK. if you look at any zipper you're wearing rn and inspect it closely chances are you'll see YKK engraved on it. before buying a piece check that it has opti or riri zippers - this is some indication of a higher quality
one of the first things to do before buying a piece is to immediately check the materials it's made of!! the tag detailing materials is usually towards the bottom of the garment . i immediately dismiss things that have higher than 5% synthetics but i'm just rly picky w materials
EACH MATERIAL HAS DIFFERENT USES !!! BUT GENERALLY: virign wool is the best kind of wool, full-grain leather is better than most other kinds of leather, mulberry silk is better than other kinds of silk
brand recs:
yohji yamamoto, yehufan (i own a skirt by him!!), marina eerrie, ann demeulemeester, jw anderson, solovair for shoes (much better than docs), maison (martin) margiela (esp artisanal line 0), miu miu (i wear their beret i thrifted for £15 almost every day), valentino esp pre 2021 , lemaine , undercover older pieces , early raf simons , ...honestly there's a lot, if you need more send another ask or DM :)
p.s. if u can go runway shows etc go to the sample sales afterwards sometimes the pieces there are gorgeous !! but sometimes v pricey :')
all recommendations and advice, don't take my word as gospel and defintely do your own research + formulate ur own opinions ! hope this helps ♡
TV Program 'Peščanik' [Hourglass], November 21st 2001.
Svetlana Lukić: And now you'll be hearing Mr. Bogdan Bogdanović. He's arrived in Belgrade fairly recently, taking part in the promotion of his books "Glib i Krv" [Mud and Blood] and "Ukleti Neimar" [Damned Neimar]. Mr. Bogdanović has been living in Vienna since 1993, and Belgrade welcomed him with open arms - Albeit with the exception of the somewhat faded graffiti on his apartment block, graffiti reading "here lives the Ustaša Bogdan Bogdanović" with an arrow pointing at the front entrance. What did he see while walking through Belgrade, this reader of cities, Bogdan Bogdanović?
Bogdan Bogdanović: You know the proverb, "Everything's fine when it's in Vienna." I always thought that was just some odd Serbianism, but it isn't.
We'll be living double lives, & here's what that means practically - One or two times yearly, for a month or month & a half, I spend here at the Library, & then lug it all back over there.... That would all be rather delightful & charming were I not 80 years old, but fine, we're living doubly. We ultimately stay on the Danube, I say that both in Vienna & here, and that was... especially true during those first years when I was also known to be depressed, so I wouldn't forget all that had happened, but regardless, when something just particularly rubbed me the wrong way - As those Southerners [Southern Serbians] say - some distress, not even to mention misery, I went to the Danube. And then I sat down & I said - Alright, here, look, it's the same street, we just moved a few blocks upstream, but we're still ultimately in one great European unit.
Belgrade was in those times a Yugoslavian centre, and, hell, a Cosmopolitan centre, now there's that miserable unavoidable mass, tragic people, depressed people, nervous people... A man leaned into me so he could ask me where he could find Vojislav Ilić street, and I said - You know, I stayed there for a time as a young child, and now I'm searching for it too... He reddens, curses me out - Mother of God, how could you not know, and marched bleakly on.
Ah, the first night I had arrived at the Belgrade Station last time, this summer, I was a hair's away from shellshock, because the whole station square was totally foreign, I thought I had found myself in Constantinople or some farther away place, in İzmir or wherever-the-hell, but at the end of the 19th century, not in this one. Barracks, kafanas, each one distinct from the last, then crowds, then automobiles without roads or order, zig-zagging in different ways, and tones of vintage automobiles, and a few quite luxurious...
And these Belgrader friends of mine - Well, what can I say, for god's sake, it's horrible and so on. And it is horrible, that's understood. But when we first took off uphill via Nemanjina Street, followed by collapsed buildings, what then followed then was *a* darkness, followed by *the* darkness... By the time we had reached Čubura [Neighborhood, 1km from the beginning of Nemanjina], it had already been clear that the picture was much darker than what I had wanted to envision it as at first blush.
For two days, or three, I didn't come out at all, I was in a kind of shock. Then I said to myself, hey, let's try finding our old elementary school in Đerma [Distrct of Belgrade], so I twisted & turned & meandered through countless streets to get there, I start going down that Boulevard through that trellis, which was downright unbelievable. For me it was indecipherable what it all was, all those trinkets & debris, and then immediately right across the street there was a well-stocked jewelry store, gems.
I felt quite lucky, since I had, wouldn't you know, some Native American jacket I had gotten from Ksenija's [His wife] sister, so that I was dressed pretty much like a Native, so I very likely looked to them like a foreigner & they always made sure to leave me a little bit of space I could squeeze through.
Then I decided to descend into the Metro, & that was an experience verging on the fantastical, the totally surreal. First it started with the marbled halls, the onyx, everything was clean & couldn't be cleaner, everything was absolutely empty, bizarrely lit. What was there now was just one self-checkout, some luxurious store, just like what you would find on Vienna's Ring Road, and another was a similarly visibly luxurious restaurant, but no one within sight.
It was all empty such that it couldn't be emptier. Then one more floor, & then began those escalators, those moving staircases that were spinning the entire time, absolutely zero souls going neither up nor down. It all ran so counter to anything I could imagine, to such an extent that I had to firmly grip onto that moving handrail, I was scared that I would suddenly get dizzy.
The final layer wasn't marble anymore, it was concrete, baskets, chickens & ruralites, women... Some suburban folk going from Borča to Ovča, from Ovča to Rakovica [all municipalities of Belgrade], on one or two, five, ten local trains. And their presences are palpably uncomfortable, and I ask myself how they could go through that entire pompous upper section so they could get to it all. Then, I see that they don't even get off, but that people run along the tracks, they get here by following them and then... That truly stands as a magnificent monument to Milošević's epoch and one insane period.
Later I thought something to myself, how it could be if something was built, if one day it was turned into one grandiose theatre and there they played Dante's Inferno, first circle, second circle, third circle... that would be divine.
It's interesting that I believed to the final moment - Yugoslavia's already been damned to hell and back, now - That I still believed it would manage somehow to pull itself together. Something terrible groaned out of people, but now, what's horrifying, it's horrifying that those people who've begun to satirize & satirize themselves, they were - to the day before all of this - acquaintances, friends and neighbors. And what's even more horrifying, now that what's been done has been done, now that they're here... I don't know what the number of victims is, 100 thousand, 200 thousands, maybe more dead, I hear that they in the Hague over there lounge, sing, dance like they haven't done anything.
That's very hard to explain to anyone in the West, I can't even explain it to myself. The only possible explanation is that of double depths, double people, doubleness - the archaic man and the modern man in the same man and then it explodes all at once, something archaic, something epic, the banging of some bloody decasyllable, the beginning of the slaughter, & then once again everyone returns to civilian status.
The feeling I get, I hope, is that until now I haven't been very wrong in my forecasts, except for my belief that Yugoslavia would remain, I hope that evil has worn itself out, you know, so I don't believe that anything of that time could repeat itself. What comes now... apart from the evils of war, there exist many others, other worries & crises, right down to poverty & confusion & so on, but fine. It will all nonetheless, nonetheless change.
hey i love your and fanny's fashion! i'm new to this part of fashion and i believe most of your guys' clothes are from japan or japan branded, is there a brand or platform that sells similar outfit that based in europe or northen america? thank you and have a good day!
Thanks for your ask, and thank you 🙂
Honestly, I wish I knew and could tell you! Because I mostly search for clothes within Japanese shops or secondhand platforms, I don't know much outside of that. However, if you are looking for lolita fashion, perhaps the Lolita Fashion Collective (which stocks brands from around the world, and ships from USA) would be a start?
For vintage inspired girly fashion that is not lolita, I've talked to quite a few lolitas who enjoy Miss Patina (based in UK) if you like that aesthetic.
For secondhand lolita (in English), the best platform for you to peruse is Lace Market. Fanny and I wear a lot of classic lolita; so assuming that is the style you are looking for, you can filter using the "classic lolita" tag and further filter by seller location in EU/N.A.: example search. Note that since these tags are user defined, pricing, selection and results vary and you will have to filter through items yourself. But fashion is all about finding a hidden gem you love, right?
Also, Lace Market has a specific purchasing flow, so make sure to read the FAQ to avoid confusion.
I hope that helps! Perhaps others can respond and give additional advice and shop suggestions.
With the release of the Barbie movie I figured it would be a good time to draw Barbie as a genie. Since I could decide on a single look I ended up giving her four different outfits with the same pose (to save time). The top left if based on her computer game Barbie: Magic Genie Adventure. The bottom left is based on the classic I Dream of Jeannie outfit (Barbra Eden would have been the perfect live action Barbie back then IMO). The top fight is slightly inspired by Jenni from the match 3 game Genies n Gems though I made some more creative differences with that one. Finally, the bottom right is inspired by a vintage genie art piece I came across while searching for inspiration.
Barbie belongs to Mattel.
As always, comments and critiques are welcome.
The Mystery of US Silver Coins: Unearthed
Imagine the scene: you're lost in a local flea market, drawn to a table stacked with an array of coins. In the symphony of clinking coins, you stumble upon aged US silver coins – Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, quarters, dimes, and half dollars minted before 1965. What seems ordinary holds hidden worth – these coins possess a precious metal core, silver.
Melt Values: The Key to Unlocking Value
Central to grasping US silver coin value is understanding melt values – the monetary value of the precious metal within a coin. US silver coins hold extra significance due to their substantial silver content. Pre-1965, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars contained a remarkable 90% silver. This value goes beyond face value, closely tied to the dynamic silver market.
Unmasking the Benefits of Melt Values
Knowing the melt values of US silver coins can change the game for treasure hunters:
Unearthing Hidden Gems: Armed with melt value knowledge, you can spot coins that may seem ordinary but hold tangible worth. A seemingly regular quarter might be worth more than you think, due to its silver content.
