I’ve had fellow music producers go like “DAMN” to my prices (around $100 per minute, probably gonna raise it) but like. If you commission someone for a finished song (specifically someone who doesn’t do recordings) you’re asking them to do three entire jobs: producing, mixing, mastering. Most indie musicians with good mixes and masters hire someone to do those two other steps, and usually if they do it all themselves they tend to say their mix and master are lackluster. And if they record live instruments then that’s an additional job on top of it

#machine girl for example tends to hire mixing and mastering engineers #(and other times just a mastering engineer) #I think Gemini is an album that doesnt have someone else doing the mix or master #and… you can tell! #ive only listened to cloud99 and i actually rlly like that song… you can however hear a difference between that and the neon white ost lol #i want to at least have my mix + master be passable
