#407. In Generations I-III Players can use the move Cut to clear away tall grass around the Player, removing a 2x2 tile patch of grass in Generations I and II and a 3x3 tile patch of grass in Generation III.
In Pokémon Emerald, if the Pokémon that uses Cut has the ability Hyper Cutter, the area of cut grass will be larger, removing a 5x5 tile patch of grass instead. (X)

The more I watch Gen I Pokemon challenge runs or videos in general, the more and more obvious it becomes that Gen I was held together with nothing but bubble gum, scotch tape, and a prayer lmao

Happy 20th anniversary to my favorite PKMN character ever 💙✨. Wanted to draw her with my favorite of the Kanto starters!
I loved Leaf since the day she debuted and I cannot believe it’s been 20 years. The years after her debut were pretty rough prior to her inclusion in Smash (no anime appearance, no appearance in HGSS or SM, barely any merch…🥲) but I say she’s in a much better spot now, even if she’s still not quite given the same respect that Red and Green get. I’m still hoping for a Leaf nendoroid 🤞.

#405. In the Generation I Pokémon games, performing the "Mew Glitch" will cause an overworld sprite to permanently disappear.
This is due the game incorrectly believing the battle with Mew was a one-time stationary battle with a Pokémon (such as Mewtwo) after which the sprite (or "removable object") disappears so they can't be encountered again.
Once the battle is concluded, the game would usually delete the "removable object" the battle is associated with, but in the case of the Mew Glitch there isn't one, so it deletes one from the list of "removable objects" the game stored in memory when the Player entered the area.
The possible deleted sprites include items, Team Rocket Grunts, and even the NPC blocking the Unknown Dungeon allowing Players to access it early.
If there are no "removable objects" in the area, the game will delete one from the last area the Player was in that had them, such as Route 12's Snorlax, which enables Players to skip sections of the game. (X)(X)

[Pokemon] Gen 1 glitch Pokemon
You know how MissingNo. is said to be super game-breaking? Fans exaggerated it because of its status as the most well known glitch Pokemon. Yes, it duplicates the item in the sixth slot of your bag so you have 128 of those (I want to say the normal limit is 99), and yes, it corrupts the Hall of Fame. But there are glitch Pokemon that have way more damaging effects. And in terms of base stats, while MissingNo. does have a base Attack stat two points higher than Dragonite (the Pokemon with the highest base Attack stat in Gen 1), its other stats suck. Its base Defense is 0, but due to the way an individual Pokemon’s stats are calculated, no individual MissingNo. has a Defense stat of 0. Yes, Shedinja’s base HP stat is listed as 1 and it always has 1 HP, but it’s a hardcoded exception to the rule that tells stat calculations to ignore HP and always set it at 1. As for MissingNo., its pathetic base Defense is lower than Caterpie. And the rest of its stats also suck, so it can dish out serious physical damage but can’t take physical or special hits well (back in Gen 1, Special Attack and Special Defenses were one stat simply called Special, which is two stats in one that prevented Gen 1 Pokemon from being weak to special attacks but strong at dishing them out or vice versa; MissingNo.’s base HP stat also sucks), and it’s also slow.
When it comes to Gen 1 glitch Pokemon with unique base stats, MissingNo. has the lowest of them all. In a way, this makes it like Cthulhu in that both are the most infamous of their kind but are actually on the lower end of the power ranking of their kind.
