for real! (from kadji amin)
[Image description: Screenshot of text:
What I've realized is that I believe that the matter of gender is practical and relational. It's not about who you are inside, it's more about how you would feel most comfortable in the world. It's not 'Who are you?' but 'How do you want to live?'
Had that been the discourse when I was coming up, I would have breathed a sigh of relief. I don't have to figure out who I am on the inside, I just have to figure out how I want to live.

trans men who wear feminine clothing (because fuck the idea that men have to dress a certain way to be "real men") 🤝 trans men who refuse to wear feminine clothing (because fuck everyone who's been trying to force you to tone down your masculinity and "accept" being feminine your whole life):
being so strong and rad as hell and not needing to change a single damned thing about their gender presentation

the thing about spending a lot of your formative years reading essays by cranky weirdoes on mothballed web 1.0 websites
is that some day you’re gonna wanna reread one of those random essays
but since you didn’t read it in a book or magazine, it’s totally untethered from any physical memory or conventional marker you could use to look it up
and also, the way google indexes the web (plus the sheer volume of stuff on the web) has changed radically in the meantime
so you’ll end up googling shit like “st louis professor ‘nature will not be fooled’ women” and get a bunch of loudmouth misogynists in the results, but tragically, you will never find the loudmouth misogynist you’re actually looking for
sad times :((((

I was tagged by the lovely @ofmd-ann, @gentlebeardsbarngrill, and @daria-meoi to make this picrew with how you look and how you wish you looked. Thanks for the tag, lovelies <3!!! i'm love picrews,,,
How I Look:
How I Wish I Looked:
so i just wish i looked,,, Gayer SDKSSD. and the way i think that look is quite realistically obtainable but it would involve a major chop of hair and i am simply ✨scared✨. BUT PERHAPS ONE DAY,,,
I feel like the darlings very thoroughly tagged already, so if you see this and want to participate, tag, you're it! <3

Pronouns are so confusing 💀
And I'm not talking about neopronouns (well, those are confusing too but that's a whole another thing)
Just your "regular" he/him and she/her
I mean, I get why and how you use them. But it gets SO difficult sometimes, when English is your second language and your first language doesn't have anything even remotely like this. I mean, we only have one pronoun for those, that's a gender neutral one and that's it.
It's just frustrating sometimes that you need to know the person's gender to talk about them.

I work at a museum with an (unintentionally) all women staff which is so nice but also WOW sometimes I forget how blatantly condescending men in the museum field can be

So I know I'm kind of a weirdo in that my favorite operatic (-adjacent) Faust adaptation is Berlioz, but that doesn't mean I won't admit that when the Gounod version slaps, it slaps HARD.
(I feel like the blocking here falls down a little at the end but still)

hi :D i found ur bi max masterpost a while ago (this one: https://www.tumblr.com/mikesbasementbeets/696412509960323072/ive-been-thinking-a-lot-about-elmax-recently-and)
and in the beginning u said that there u were focusing on max, but el has a lot of queer coding too (which i fully agree on btw). i wanted to know if u have made a post about her queer coding or if u are working on one? bc i really enjoy ur posts in general :]
hi! that's very sweet, thank you. no, unfortunately i've not done any analysis on el's queer coding (but i saw that you found someone else's post about it which i think is a good read). i think i wrote that bi max analysis in like september? (yes) so it's been a while since i've revisited those thoughts, but eImax is still so dear to me and i would love to have the brain space i had back then to analyze both of them again... but maybe i will think some more on it actually if there's interest....
