Essentialism, it's bad even if it looks left wing
Essentialism, its a conceptual base for a LOT of shitty things.
Racism is a variety of essentialism, where you are considered confined to the essential qualities or flaws of your "race" (whatever bullshit is put in the word). It creates a veneer of superiority based on skin color/ethnicity/whatever to comfort the adherant's ego, make them more amenable to the professing populist's ambitions and occult one basic reality : people of all color and origins can be wondrous geniuses who bring amazing advancements to humanity or terminally awkward dumbasses (and sometimes both at once).
Classism and casteism is the same, evaluating the social value of someone based on the essential qualities or flaws of their social class or cast. These two rests a lot on tradition and the natural tendency to social endogamy and self-reproduction through education. But in the end, the "superiority" of the higher social strata class or cast is attributed to essential qualities instead of access to better education and learning materials.
But when it comes to sexism, the essentialism seems to, most of the time, be only recognized one way in many keft wing circles, at least on the surface (which is the most visible part). What prompted this? I saw a post on the Barbie movie on this here hellsite that quoted a bunch of tweets. Up to the end, it was fairly feel good, cute, positive. Even if most of the quoted tweets seemed to have missed the commentary on gender relations that is apparently part of the movie.
I will be upfront, I have not seen the movie. Not by ideology, but simply because I do not feel the urge. But from my understanding, the situation of the Kens is ... not ideal. It could be better.
Most of the tweets did not mention that, focusing on the female aspect. And then there was this :
Tumblr media
So, over generalisation based on gender elevating one gender as sweet and kind and non-violent, just vibing, while the other is decried as brutish, oppressive and violent. No nuance, just big homogenous blocks. That is incredibly essentialist. That is also a kind of take that feeds Far Right pundits like nobody's business.
Think a bit on the underlying philosophy. What's being said isn't "inequalities are bad and both genders should be equal", it's "the wrong gender is in power and everything would be perfect if gender relations were switched around". That take doesn't have a problem with the system, but with who is in control. When the system is unjust, changing who controls it or benefits from it doesn't make it just.
And just to pre-empt : yes, I'm a man. So what? I am not obligated to suffer for the actions of other dick-owners.

I kinda regret a few of the analytical gender posts that I’ve made on here not because I don’t still agree with them to some degree or another but because it brought in some of the most stupid anti-feminist bullshit into my eyeballs and like ya’ll…. Just because I’m thinking about societal shit from the perspective of someone now transitioning into someone much more transmasc does not mean I don’t believe the patriarchy exists and is an oppressive force. Hello? Are you there? It’s gender studies 101, they need you and I’m scared for some of the braindead shit I’ve seen on tumblr of all places l m a o

After I thought that Mirror!kara was Linkara's worst villain but realized I needed to make him my big bad narrator in my fanfic because I needed an antagonist Linkara that would also misgender Mark and have beef with the Entity:

I've seen people call the idea that gender is a human concept terf rhetoric. Like sorry but animals don't have gender they literally don't care. Saying "gender is an inherent biological thing" just makes you a transmedicalist..... Animals do not care if they have a dick or not. female dogs will literally hump stuff . They don't care

when trans rights activists straight up admit that sex based rights, gay rights, and the prioritization of women’s safety poses a threat to their movement. speaks for itself honestly. unsurprisingly:
-nowhere does the author provide proof of the so-called hate campaigns against trans youth.
-nowhere does the author elaborate on how making online spaces to discuss our perspective = dangerous or extremist.
-nowhere does the author provide even an iota of proof that the trans activist who was doxxed, was doxxed by radical feminists. (reminds me of that incident where a woman was attacked by a MAN who thought she was trans, and trans activists somehow found a way to blame radical feminists.)
-nowhere does the author actually critique (or demonstrate that she even understands) the radical feminist stance on gender ideology. her only argument is to repeat the TWAW mantra, as though repeating it enough times will make it true.

I am not particularly interested in a “redemption” narrative for incels. That is a question for those individuals to ponder. We do not implore the victims of other forms of terrorism to absolve and educate their tormentors. Nor do we require that other extremists be acknowledged as some kind of wounded, misunderstood victims. It is ironic that so much pressure is brought to bear on women to allow for the humanity and individuality of fallible men when it is precisely this courtesy that incels unfailingly refuse to pay to women.
But I am interested in the men in between. The boys who fall through the cracks. The “good” men who feel scared. The ones who went looking for help, because they felt frightened or sad or lonely, and haven’t been able to disentangle themselves. The ones who just haven’t heard about any of this yet. The ones who look the other way on the bus. Because we can’t change anything without those men. So how do we reach them?
Laura Bates, Men Who Hate Women (2020).
Importantly, she's just spent a lot of time talking about men-led feminist groups that do good work, both in terms of reducing domestic violence and other "traditional" feminist concerns and in terms of providing other narratives, support structures, and information about things that men, like all people, care about: how to keep yourself safe physically and emotionally; how to cope with feeling frightened or uncertain; how to communicate with other people in a world that feels zero sum and frightening.
It's a good, thoughtful discussion of what it means to respond to radicalization in an effective way: you reduce the pain points that funnel people towards radicalized groups, you provide them with positive things to do to help themselves, and you provide empathy to anyone who is willing to provide empathy back to you. But you don't immolate yourself on the altar of healing people who already hate you: you focus on the ones who are easy to help first, the ones who need only a little help, and then you expand.
It's a heavy book, but well worth reading—and not only if you're interested in online misogyny and radicalization. I would recommend the book to anyone with an interest in gender, building a better world, deradicalization, and effectively handling terrorism.

I've seen some really scary anti-trans/anti-queer propaganda, so, facts:
Regarding gender and sexual orientation, the side wanting to indoctrinate children with their ideology is the one going "if you have a penis, you are a man, if you have a vagina, you're a woman, end of", or "gender doesn't exist, only sex matters". (I'm reading "ideology" with negative connotations of being narrow-minded and ignoring evidence, not in the wider sense of a system of ideas, the way "gender ideology" is used by the "queers are evil" faction.)
The side that acts like nazis is not the one wanting actual information to be spread, and accepting people who are different from the "norm". It's the side that wants to suppress scientific findings and any other information that contradicts their doctrine, paints their opposition as evil, and calls for their death.
I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but fuck it, I need to say it somewhere.
