Random Things I’ve Done as MDZS Characters:

Lan Wangji: Almost started a fight because a random student mistook my silence for insult, gratefully saved by a classmate that knew I wasn’t a good talker. Later that day, she said I had a really mean expression on my face and it might’ve been the reason why the person got pissed.

Wei Wuxian: Thought I woke up late, forgot my I.D, my transportation fare, and left the house with missed-matched socks. It turns out I indeed, was not late—in fact, literally earlier than half my classmates.

Lan Sizhui: Repeatedly apologized for an accident I didn’t start, and even though I was the one who got hit. (It really hurt)

Lan Jingyi: Confidently telling my group mate the answer to our quiz’s question that was actually very very wrong. (It was so embarrassing)

Jin Ling: Got upset that no one listened to my advise on how to treat a nosebleed, accidentally punched the person who had the nosebleed and they still didn’t listen to my advise.

Ouyang Zizhen: Got caught writing fan fiction during my AP tests and had to listen to my teacher read out the shit I wrote. Safe to say that after I graduated I made sure to never show my face to that teacher again.

Wen Ning: Was given the wrong order in a milk tea shop and instead if telling the barista, I left the milk tea on a table and left the shop with out anything. Ended up wasting money.

Wen Qing: I went to the hospital thinking I might have skin asthma but was diagnosed with a heart problem. I kept going back for check ups because I was sure they misdiagnosed me, they did misdiagnose me. I had skin asthma.

Mo Xuanyu: Got misgendered the very first day of class, even though I wore a skirt. (Unknowingly triggers the genderfluid in me)

Jiang Cheng: Barked back at a dog because it annoyed me.

Nie Huaisang: During the Christmas Exchange Event I got a request that said they wanted a specific brand of wallet. I bought them a wallet. That was different from the brand they wanted. And put candy inside as compensation.

Jin Guangyao: Convinced a teacher I belonged to his class (I was in fact, not from his class) after I accidentally entered during a lecture, was too embarrassed to leave, so I took a seat and answered his questions when he wanted me to.

Lan Xichen: Commuted by myself for the first time and ended up lost, 7 divisions away from home.

Xiao Xingchen: Fell in love with a boy and finding out years later that boy was now in rehabilitation for handling dangerous weapons.

(also) Nie Huaisang: Had an attack before passing out even though I ran no longer than 50 meters.

(also) Wei Wuxian: Stared at a dog for so long that it got jittery and attacked me, my sister cried the whole car drive to the hospital because I was bleeding from my forehead.

(also) Lan Jingyi: Got admitted to the hospital because I hit my head on a sharp rock. Cause of injury: my butt missed the seat of a swing and sent me tumbling backwards.

(also) Lan Sizhui: Didn’t understand the concept of a class donation and gave all my cash because I thought they asked for it. I didn’t eat lunch that day.

kinda knew when he was younger that sometimes he wanted to be a she sometimes, but also jc probably scared the living shit outta jl

plus jl didn't know how to articulate that as a child, so he kept it suppressed

sometimes ljy can get away with calling jl a young mistress or princess, but he absolutely hates it when ljy calls him that when ljy calls him that when he's male

gets a little annoyed when being called young mistress/princess at any time, really, except when it's used a term of endearment

loves the fact that she can pass as a guy or girl (bc imo jl is quite androgynous looking)

will sneak out at night dressed in a more feminine-presenting way and get away with it

puts actually a lot of effort into presenting female, and looking as different as she possibly can look bc if it gets out that the jin's sect heir "crossdresses" (which is false, but the gossipers don't know that) it will be very bad press

voice is harder to pass off but it is doable

jl has never told anyone abt being genderfluid bc it's not like he has friends to spare lmao, and bc it's very personal

plus being genderfluid really wasn't a thing back then, at least not publicly out as genderfluid

"What's the matter, babe?" Jingyi asked. He was already dressed, looking stunning as ever in layers of monochrome midnight blue, the silhouettes combining to emphasize his strong shoulders and long, lean legs. He looked like one of those guys in a street style douyin, like he should be walking in slow motion and smizing into the camera. Jin Ling shook xir head and slumped against the closet door.

"I have literally nothing to wear," xie declared.

Jingyi snorted. "That is ~literally~ the opposite of true, but I know what you mean." He tilted his head and bit his lip. "Lemme try something?"

Jin Ling doubted even Jingyi would be able to find anything in xir closet that would feel worth putting on, but xie waved a lazy hand and faceplanted onto the bed. "Have at it!"

"Cool," Jingyi said, "don't peek!" Jin Ling dutifully kept xir eyes closed and rubbed xir cheek against the plush comforter. They could always just stay in, maybe order some food and watch some cheesy horror movie that made Jingyi want to crawl into xir lap. Spending time with him was always fun, no matter what they wound up doing.

"Gender of the day is, like, unknowable void, right?" Jingyi called out from deep in Jin Ling’s closet. Jin Ling laughed.

"Something like that," xie called back.

Jingyi clapped, and dumped some stuff on the bed. "Excellent," he declared. "Outfit for a smoking hot unknowable void, coming up! Keep your eyes closed!"

Being dressed when xie literally could not see what was being put on xir body was interesting. Jingyi’s hands only wandered a little as he helped xir into... something. (It was hard for Jin Ling to tell; xie really did have, like, a LOT of clothes.)

"Tease," Jin Ling complained without heat.

"Just wanna make sure you're having fun," Jingyi replied, smug.

He fussed with xir hair and put earrings in xir ears, and then asked, "Can I do your makeup? Not a lot." Jin Ling nodded and enjoyed the feeling of Jingyi’s hands on xir face as he carefully dabbed something on xir lids and lips and applied eyeliner. "There!" he declared, walking Jin Ling over to presumably the mirror and stepping away. "Tell me what you think?"

Jin Ling opened xir eyes and goggled at the view. Xie looked... incredible. Jingyi had combined things Jin Ling would never have thought to wear together — a high-necked matte black crop top, a thin hoodie under a structured leather jacket with gold hardware, xir favorite slouchy black wide-legged pants that swished when xie walked, and the dangly gold hoops with the chain that connected behind xir neck. Xir eyes were done with perfect smudged charcoal and a graphic stripe of gold liner, and xir lips glistened with just a hint of shiny gloss.

"Jingyi, holy shit," Jin Ling whispered. "I look like—"

"Like the person everyone will be staring at when we go out, yeah?" Jingyi said, hooking his chin over xir shoulder. "And the person only I'm gonna get to take home and undress afterwards."

Jin Ling grinned. "If you play your cards right, maybe — after all, who can say what a smoking hot unknowable void will decide?"

Jingyi kissed xir cheek and laughed. "Can't blame a guy for hoping!"

He'd definitely try to come off as "oh yea I'm genderfluid", but freak out a little beforehand. Jl knows that they'll probably accept him (and if not, he's gonna slap em and leave). But jl really really likes his friends, so he really hopes they're cool with it.
