Given how feral I go to see 11 and Clara's Affectionate Touches(tm), and how I lose my mind seeing that split second when 13 briefly holds Yaz's cheek when she starts to cry, I know I would have absolutely gone bananas, complete batshit crazy had we gotten the same level of Affectionate Touches(tm) between 13 and Yaz that we had with 11 and Clara.

I've decided to turn the tables on AI. It gives me the prompts, I paint the pictures. They are painted as quickly as I can. Sad to say, I'm still a little bit slower than most online generators. But perhaps if I get enough VC backing I can improve performance.
I used my local LLM, Zephyr 7b, which is a Mistral derivative (if you care about this stuff!). So, I asked it to give me prompts, and it gave me back these d33p artistic ideas:
"Amidst a field of wildflowers in full bloom stands a towering structure that seems to defy all laws of nature. Its angles are sharp and unforgiving, its surfaces gleaming and reflective like polished steel. Yet despite its futuristic appearance, this edifice is grounded by the very earth it stands upon; roots winding their way deep into the soil, inextricably linking man-made structure to natural landscape. This image represents the tension between progress and preservation, a call for us to find harmony where they meet, rather than let them stand as opposing forces."
-----
"As an artist envisioning a complex tableau, I seek to create a visual metaphor that speaks to the dual nature of human existence – our inner turmoil and external serenity. The scene is set at twilight, where the last rays of the sun meet the onset of night in a symphony of colors, blending the boundaries between day and night. At the center stands a colossal, ancient tree, its roots deeply entrenched in the earth, symbolizing our connection to nature and our foundational beliefs. The tree's branches stretch upwards and outwards, bifurcating into intricate patterns that mirror the complexity of human thoughts and emotions.
Half of the tree is lush and blooming, covered in verdant leaves and vibrant flowers, teeming with birds and wildlife, representing the vitality of life and the beauty of outward expressions. The other half, however, is starkly different, with gnarled branches, devoid of foliage, whispering of the silent struggles and the decay that lurks within. This dichotomy illustrates the contrasting aspects of our lives – the visible joy and the hidden sorrows.
Beneath the tree, a serene pond reflects this duality, not just as a mirror image, but with a surreal twist. The reflection shows the tree in full bloom on the barren side, and vice versa, suggesting that what we see on the surface is not always the reality.
The visual style for this image will be inspired by the Pointillism technique, where small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. This style will add an element of surprise and depth to the artwork, as the scene's full complexity and beauty will only be revealed upon closer inspection, symbolizing the idea that understanding and empathy require a closer look beyond the surface.
This artwork is an invitation to the viewer to contemplate the balance between our external persona and internal struggles, encouraging a deeper understanding of the human condition." -----
"In the center of a vast and barren desert landscape, there stands a lone figure cloaked in a long, flowing dress made entirely of shimmering gold fabric. This woman appears to be walking through the sandy expanse with ease, her every step leaving behind glittering footprints that twist and turn like winding rivers. Her hair is a cascade of purest silver, billowing gently in an unseen wind.
As she moves deeper into the desert, the woman begins to transform. Her skin takes on the same radiant quality as her dress, becoming infused with a brilliant golden glow that seems almost otherworldly. And atop her head, where once there was only silver hair, now rises a magnificent crown of swirling gold and silver filaments that shimmer and dance in the air like living fireworks.
This woman is a personification of hope and resilience, an embodiment of the human spirit that can weather even the most barren and desolate landscapes with grace and determination. Her dress is symbolic of her inner strength and her ability to transform adversity into something beautiful and valuable. The golden glow she emits represents the radiant light of hope that shines within us all, guiding our path through life's challenges no matter how harsh they may be. And as for the surprising visual style I mentioned earlier? Well...what if this woman isn't walking alone after all? As viewers follow her progress across the desert, we begin to notice tiny glimmers of light dancing just beneath the sand at her feet - and before long, it becomes clear that she is actually surrounded by a throng of shimmering golden fireflies that flit and flutter around her like living sparks. This unexpected twist adds an extra layer of meaning to the image, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is always hope and beauty to be found - if only we know where to look for it."
I also put the prompt back in to DALL-E 3, which is the final image.

supercorp: 21, can you stop talking
“Can you stop talking for literally ten seconds?”
Kara’s jaw snaps closed with a click so pronounced she’d put money down that it was audible even over the general din and chatter of the coffee shop - the coffee shop where, it is to be noted, the tables are mostly occupied, and occupied by folks who are, it is to be noted, talking. She can feel a flush creeping up her neck, skin all prickles and heat, a thin veneer of embarrassment over a deep and indignant anger. Winn raises his eyebrows in an expression that might mean ‘what is she even on about’ and might mean ‘you probably should not lose your temper here in this very public place’ or maybe a little bit of both.
Kara does not turn around in her seat. “I’m sorry,” she says to Winn, a little too loudly, “I thought for a second someone was complaining about the conversation we were having here at this table in this coffee shop where we’re paying customers like everyone else.”
“Some of us have exams to pass, Danvers. Not that you’d know the first thing about that.”
The flush comes in for an encore, twice as hot, and Kara does turn around now, all bluster and indignation and confusion.
“I’m sorry, do I know you?” she asks before she can even properly see the stranger who’s taken it upon herself to interrupt lunch, and it turns out that’s for the best because the moment she lays eyes on the woman at the table behind her, her capacity for human language momentarily falters. Stern green eyes stare back from behind precariously perched spectacles and Kara wonders if she has forgotten how to breathe.
“Your name is on the back of your shirt,” the stranger drawls.
“Aren’t you in my history section?”
There is a standoff then, the stranger’s thin frown somehow growing thinner and more pronounced while Kara’s flushed neck somehow grows redder and hotter the longer the silence stretches on.
“It’s Lena,” the stranger offers in a tone that suggests, in light of the fact that they do indeed share a history section of no more than 12 people,  Kara should already have known her name. And maybe Kara should have, but frankly Lena had to learn her name - her last name - off the back of an old practice jersey, so Lena doesn’t have a whole lot of room to talk.
“History 7B,: Kara clarifies, “With Professor Grant.”
“Yes. Which I’m sure you’re failing, so maybe consider a little bit of preparatory work before the midterm instead of yammering away forever about sportsball while other people are trying to study.”
“Top of the class actually, thank you, and it’s not sportsball it’s rugby and-”
“I don’t care if it’s the fucking Olympics. For the love of fuck, please shut up.”
Kara’s jaw snaps shut again. From behind her Winn offers, “Well it could be the Olympics, is the point,” but Kara suspects Lena is not listening. Her eyes stray south - not to anywhere inappropriate at least not on purpose; she barely hesitates in that territory honest - and land on an errant inch of double spaced essay sticking out from under one of Lena’s many heavy books. It is an inch of double spaced essay marked suspiciously in red.
“You’re failing history,” Kara says with a delighted laugh. “Oh, very nice! Take a shot at the dumb jock, since you’re struggling. Does that make you feel better?”
Lena snaps a book closed with all the same force as Kara’s jaw. “I have never failed a class in my life.”
“Which doesn’t mean you aren’t failing now,” Kara says. Her eyes wander momentarily to forbidden territory once more on their way back to Lena’s perpetually deepening frown.
“I’m majoring in the hard sciences,” Lena retorts, as if that somehow disqualifies her from failing history.
“Which one?” Kara asks, so taken in by genuine curiosity about the woman in front of her that she briefly forgets to be the embodiment of righteous mockery.
“All of them,” Lena snaps. “Would you please.”
“Can I?” Kara asks. She doesn’t actually wait for an answer before she snatches the essay out from under Lena’s books.
There’s only time enough to skim a paragraph or two, reading fast over Lena’s dismayed sputtering, before another woman arrives on the scene and drops into the chair next to Lena’s with a theatric sigh. “Give me your coffee,” she says by way of hello. “I haven’t slept; I have three papers due on Friday.” And then she gives Kara a long, lingering once over, and says, “You must be Kara. Heard a lot about you. I’m Sam. Do you have any coffee? Please. I’ve ordered but I don’t know if I can wait that long. I’m dying.”
The flush on Kara’s neck makes a third appearance, but it’s nothing quite so spectacular as the reddening of Lena’s face all the way to the tips of her ears. Maybe the hard science aficionado didn’t have to learn Kara’s name off the back of an old practice jersey after all.
“Dinner,” Kara says.
“Sorry?”
“Say you’ll come to dinner with me, and I’ll take my sportsball talk somewhere else. Dinner, and you come to my next game.”
Lena opens her mouth to speak, receives a none too subtle elbow in the ribs from Sam, and swallows hard. “Dinner. And-”
“And?”
“I am literally begging you to let me take a look at your notes from the lectures on the interwar period.”
Kara laughs. “Dinner and a tutoring session. And you come to my next game.”
“A tutoring session,” Sam snorts. “Is that what we’re calling it.”
“Sam,” Lena says, “Please. My dignity. My peace.”
“Your number on a napkin for the poor girl. This coffee is cold and nasty. Is that half a sandwich I spy under the Berube? Fuck, I could go for some pastrami.”

Rebirth Update 7b
I wonder what the hell Cisnei is doing over there though, and how she got there, there is a story there that I need to know. I know she ended CC looking for Zack, and I know she was hanging around Gongaga waiting for him before that, but no clue why she's there now. Also, Aerith, if you KNEW Zack is from Gongaga, why did you never go and look for him there? I know you were scared to go out, but girl, at least send out some letters to Gongaga specifically. The talk between Cloud and Tifa was interesting, as well as Clouds characterization of his own affliction as "feeling like there are multiple people inside him", more evidence (as if it were needed) that Zacks presence is more than just Cloud pretending. It is also interesting that Cloud is aware that he knows things he ought not to know when as far as I know this should not occur to him unless he's speaking of things outside of the events of nibelheim, like how normal grunts operate or something. It seems there are two destinies fighting each others, two paths the planet might take, and Sephiroth is at the helm of one, who knows how that will pan out. In more lighthearted news, I loved Yuffie teasing Cloud about potentially cloning more Tifas, and I love Clouds dorky lovestruck reaction to the idea. In general Cloud is very well handled this game, his dork self is coming more and more to the front. It was especially funny after fighting DIO in the gold saucer. Anyway, I'm about 60 hours in and can't wait to continue.

re: your tags on that river post; going to be super mean and say most of eleven’s era is downright boring/unwatchable until the ponds and river leave and clara joins him 🫣
I lowkey agree... I mean I adore Amy and Rory and their relationship with Eleven despite some gripes, like the non-existen love triangle that just wouldn't quit. And s5 is decent, even if the ending is a mess and Amy's characterization is a bit spotty, but s6 is just awful IMO. With the exception of The Girl Who Waited and The God Complex, I'm never going to rewatch it. It's where River gets totally ruined and it drags down Amy and Rory in the process, and some parts of it are a bit disgusting and maybe that's a rant for later. And by ruining River, it makes me dread seeing her in s5, which takes that season down a notch in hindsight. By 7A, it feels like Moffat didn't know what to do with Amy and Rory anymore.
Then 7B is such a breath of fresh air. I don't get the hate for it at all; the only episode I consider weak is the Crimson Horror. Eleven is at his most enjoyable and least gimmicky (and best dressed lol), the episodes are generally really fun and some of them truly unique, the Impossible Girl mystery ties them all together nicely with a great ending that a lot of people misunderstand completely. It's like Moffat found his footing again, getting him ready for the spectacular s8-s9 Capaldi run.
It's saying something that 6/10 of my favourite Eleven episodes are in 7B.

to be fair, i haven't seen series 7b in ages so this might be a matter of pure nostalgia bias and just bias in general since it was the first doctor who series that i got to see in real-time but i never understood the hate series 7b got. from what i remember, the series was pretty good? or did it just get a lot of flack because amy and rory had just left and it was hard for a lot of people to move on and adjust to clara?

top 5 pll storylines!
top 5 pll storylines
•4b Ezra as A + Spencer’s pill storyline and Spencer and Aria’s breakdowns Shadow Play included of course, and also including other things I loved in this time period like The Liars decoding Ali’s Diary and Emily processing her Alison feelings this is the period of the show where Emison is most interesting to me (so really everything from 4.14-4.21).
•Mona as A in the first two seasons and reveal in UnmAsked
•Spencer’s arc in 3b + Spona in that time period generally
•Emily’s coming out arc in s1 for all the things about the show which haven’t aged that well I do think it really holds up / is one of my favorite I’ve seen.
•Dollhouse and 6.01-6.02 processing of trauma especially for Aria and Hanna who I think get the most interesting beats of this (which I think ultimately makes sense because they’re characters who are more in tune with their emotions than Spencer and Emily are or at least that’s how I see it…)
honorable mentions to Hanna’s 5a plot pre Scream on Me I love the reflection work with her and Alison and her identity crisis, Spencer and Jason’s relationship developing, Melissa murdering for Spencer that was something I was spoiled for before I’d gotten there in the show but out of the retcons it’s one of the things I think does track with the arc of that dynamic, tbh I had a lot of fun with Aria on the A team in 7b it was my favorite part of that half season in general. Any Halloween episode plot if we’re talking about individual eps rather than sections of the show. That’s just off the top of my head so I definitely forgot something

Um. My mom lives in Colorado too. She recently purchased a persimmon tree, because it was rated 7 - 10 and "higher number is better right?" (-‸ლ) Already covered the no not better CO is zone 5. But, uh, any chance we're keeping this thing alive long enough to get fruit for any number of years if we're going to try moving it in and out of the house?
OK so for those of you just tuning in, when a Plant is rated a Number, it's referring to is USDA Agricultural Zone. In general, the higher numbers refer to hotter areas, because the zones are based on the average lowest temperature. a Persimmon rated 7-10 will do best in an area where it doesn't get below 0-5 Degrees in winter.
so the answer is... Maybe! it depends on where you live in CO:
Tumblr media
Now, this is map is a bit dated, CO has gotten hotter and more extreme in the last 15 years. According to this, my house is in zone 6B, but in practice it's never gotten below 5 so it's actually in zone 7B.
So, depending where you are in the state (Esp Denver Metro because the city keeps the air warm), and if you plant it in the hottest section of your yard, and cover it if it's going to go below 5 degrees in winter, it actually stands a decent chance of making it!

I'm too tired to really be capable of coherence, but my ideas about the TCW-based fighter pilot drama fic - I've called it Jedi Ace so far - aren't very coherent yet anyway, so I feel like I can infodump about that.
This is meant to be about a whole squadron of pilots, which is twelve, but I want the most focus of those to be on Ahsoka and the troopers Kickback and Swoop, the only survivors of her fuckup at Ryloth. I've seen one or two fics that have her apologize to them after it, and I think in all of them they forgave her for it for reasons that revolve around that she was a kid forced into a command position with no choice and no training. Here, I want to acknowledge, in some capacity of substance, that there was more to it than that.
Yeah, it was Ahsoka not knowing what she was doing, but it was also her not thinking things out because her outstanding (for her age) skills at stuff like lightsaber combat had gone to her head and she assumed she'd be able to do this too.
(For what it's worth, I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that Filoni thought she would have been able to take out a Lucrehulk with just the lasers on her Delta-7B, but in this case that ignorance is actually useful.)
And of course, Ahsoka also constantly feels the need to prove to her Master that she's good enough for him, so he doesn't decide to give her back after all, which she failed to do here.
The first thing I really need to do here is come up with actual characters for Kickback and Swoop, but I have a hard time imagining them both forgiving her instantly in this. Part of it depends on how much time actually passed between the two assaults on the blockade forces over Ryloth. If it was, like, a couple days, there could be time for some emotional processing.
(My Legends-supremacist attitudes are gonna bleed through a bit here because I'm using the books' description of Ryloth, and also completely rewriting the second assault to neutralize the bullshit about Ahsoka having come up witn the Marg Sabl, which itself is discussed in a completely fucking different context in the books.)
In any event, I want them to have forgiven her enough to fly with her again by the turn of the second year of the war. The setup for how she finds out about their Force-sensitivity is a battle I'm not gonna go into full detail about, but I'm using a generous dose of Canon-Typical Inaccurate Astrophysics by having it take place in the Roche system (I have no idea what side, if, any, the Verpines actually took in that war, but I like it as setup here, so I'm not gonna change it unless I specifically find out that they weren't loyal) when fleet elements working with the 501st and 327th are reprovisioning after retreating from Felucia for the fuckteenth time. For this battle, Kickback has to be transferred out of Ahsoka's squadron (which at that point is her Delta-7B and eleven of the weird clone spinoff models of the Z-95) and put in charge of twenty-three shinies in BTL-B Y-Wings. For tactical reasons, the fighters are limited to communications of a sufficiently low power to only reach the distances of a single squadron's formation.
Here, I've chosen to reference one of the few bits of IRL naval history I actually know, which is the Battle of Midway, and how (at least the way it was told to me) it was basically just dumb luck that the one guy's bomber squadron showed up to the Japanese fleet at exactly the same time that all the Zeros were going after the other guy's bomber squadron.
This time, however, the "dumb luck" of their two squadrons coordinating their attack perfectly, without comms, makes Ahsoka suspicious because she knows just as well as any other Jedi what that can be a sign of. After she investigates, she finds that Kickback and Swoop are both not only Force-sensitive, but have already formed a bond through which they're unconsciously coordinating in combat.
A few months later, the first operational squadron of the new Eta-2 Actis interceptors are delivered to the Resolute. These are not only faster than the preceding Delta-series interceptors, but they're also intended for mass production and use by clones and regular natborn pilots in addition to Jedi, who can strip out a bunch of sensor and targeting systems and cut mass to make them even faster, and they have to rely on the Force to make up for the ship's own capabilities that were stripped out. Ahsoka is inspired by this, and the sensitivity of two of her pilots, to conceive an idea that she presents to Anakin and Yularen: A full squadron of the new interceptors, all stripped down to Jedi specs, and flown by Ahsoka herself and eleven clones with the necessary ability and training to coordinate in combat through the Force.
Yularen and Anakin have their doubts about whether it'll work, especially since finding that many clone troopers with Force ability, let alone training them, is going to take weeks. (If I was not constrained by the timescale of the entire war, it would be a lot longer.)
Nevertheless, Anakin agrees to put the word out among the other battalions(/legions/what-the-fuck-ever) asking for more troopers that are suspected or confirmed as Force-sensitive, and in the meantime Ahsoka works on more training for Kickback and Swoop as the start of the idea.
That's about my attention span for now.
