i hope this isn't blasphemy but imagine a Genesis!Dreammare AU? With Night being the one to eat the apple (Eve) and Dream following him (Adam)— maybe Nim could be the version of god?

One of my new surfacing gripes with FF7R is how a lot of moments from the original game that rested heavily on player investment seem completely stripped out of the remake in favor of everything being a constant 60 hour long movie experience.
Like every now and then I hear the original game get shit for not taking its political messaging seriously at certain key set-pieces that are too game-y and chill like Costa Del Sol and the Gold Saucer, but that's not the whole picture when you consider how much control the player has over the party in that game. Costa Del Sol was just where you landed on the next continent and there was like a guy or two to talk to to point you in the other direction, a few lighthearted interactions to break up the fucked up shit that happened on the boat ride over, and then you could leave. The idea that the original Costa Del Sol indulged in the tourist trap goes only as far as how you as a player approached the space, if you got to Costa Del Sol and felt "Oh, this is a shitty Shinra colonial project I hate it here" you could book it outta there and maintain some of that disgust, but you fucking can't in the remake and its horrible.
For some fucking reason the boat ride over is on a cruise ship instead of a military vessel like before, so instead of a funny moment of humanizing the soldiers by being miserable with them, you get this fucking card tournament quest where everyone is suddenly SUPER into all this shit and doesn't care about any of the obvious underlying bullshit of the boat? And then its even worse when you get to Costa Del Sol because likefhsjkdhf? Everyone is OK with this glaring parallel to real world colonization and exploitation of island nations? Even Barret who literally had an amusement park built on the ashes of his home village by the people who burnt it down? EVEN YUFFIE WHO'S WHOLE SHTICK IS HOW HER HOME WAS INVADED AND TURNED INTO A TOURIST TRAP????
I cannot speak 100% for the original, because I remember it also missing these opportunities and besides that my memory is hazy, but its the fact that it wasn't flooded with all these ridiculous cutscenes and extra set-pieces that force you into experiencing areas a certain way, and a way that is just really fucking OOC?? And like for as OOC as the original could be, THE REMAKE IS 25 YEARS YOUNGER AND WISER THAN IT, PICK UP THE SLACK? But instead we get a fucking beach episode where you can put the girlies in bikinis or some shit. It's such a waste.
I can't think of like a single moment of subtly that the Remake retained from the originals. And it DOES have them under all the silly tonal whiplash stuff that the Remake cranks up to an unhealthy extent.

ive not really interacted with many classic who fans until recently so idk if this is controversial or most people agree with this but i gotta be honest most of these serials did not need to be six episodes long. and the dalek's master plan definitely didn't need to be TWELVE episodes long that shit was painful to get through. im not slagging off classic who as a whole like im saying this as someone who's only just finished hartnell's run so it could improve as it goes on but christ a lot of episodes have fuck all happening. don't get me wrong i'm generally enjoying it and i would recommend watching it (well. most of it.) but sometimes it feels like im having to drag myself through them

As I'm making notes for JBSWM(2), I'm collecting a lot of my thoughts of Genesis's parentage so here is a splurge of them.
It’s likely Genesis was the first baby born in the Jenova project. It’s been confirmed he and Angeal pre-date Sephiroth and given the meaning of his name, I’d say Genesis being first makes the most sense. As such, it also makes sense that Gast - a man obsessed with the Cetra - would be the person to provide the other half of the genetics of the first baby born with ‘Cetran’ biology.
Considering Gast named Aerith, calling the beginning child of a new project Genesis makes a lot of sense. As does putting his fingers in that pie - or in this case, likely petri dish.
When asked about Genesis’s parentage, they made a point of saying they didn’t want to reveal that just now.  If it was just another random third scientist in the Jenova project, there would be no reason not to say so. Therefore whoever it is has to have some importance and Gast would fit the bill.
Genesis and Aerith have more than a passing resemblance to one another. Their designs for Ever Crisis especially so given that there is the lopsided red designed outfit for Aerith that screams Genesis. You can see what I mean here.
It’s not the only echo between them. Aerith’s final cast is Holy while Genesis’s is Apocalypse, almost like two different sides of the same coin. They are both headstrong and chaotic people, but with a deep spiritual connection as that drives them. Even their parting words are an echo of each other - both promising to return.
There’s something weird about Genesis’s genes. In Deepground, the elite - the Tsviets - are given Genesis’s cells but the interesting part is that it doesn’t appear as if they were weird because of the Jenova cells but something else. A big deal is made of Weiss being ‘immaculate’ in that he has no Jenova in him yet he has some of Genesis in him.
As such, there has to be a significant enough shift between Jenova cells and what they had from Genesis in Deepground. It does beg the question then: is degradation only worsened by an influx of Jenova cells? Like the body is out of balance and begins to mutate or degrade or both. This had led me to wonder if it’s possible that Genesis and Aerith were in fact full siblings, not half, and while it’s not my personal theory, I do think it’s POSSIBLE this happened for a few reasons:
Gast’s lab in Icicle Inn is remarkably set up for a man who’s been on the run for two years. This has made me think they’re actually hiding in plain sight in the same lab that he used when they were excavating Jenova from the Northern Crater.  Given that we know he meets Ifalna there, it’s possible that Ifalna was a participant of the Jenova Project whether she knew it or not.  I do believe at some point, Ifalna was part of the project - even if she didn’t know what it was. When Hojo catches up to them at Icicle Inn, he not only calls Ifalna by name - something he doesn’t do often with test subjects - but the way he speaks to her is an accusation, as if he knew her but hadn’t known she was Cetran. “I've been searching for you, Ifalna... or should I say, Cetra!” This aligns with one of the Ultimania’s that notes that when Gast left, he freed Ifalna to run with him. This implies that Ifalna had been at Shinra. My best guess is  Ifalna had been working with Gast and the team without ever having seen Jenova. Then she found out what Jenova really was and tried to stop it, tipping her hand in the process to Gast about her heritage and they left before anyone else on the team could find out anything.  The reason I don’t personally subscribe to this is because they wouldn’t know what she was enough to want to use one of her eggs in ‘77, given Gast doesn’t leave till ‘83 and the entire project is supposedly shut down in ‘84 when Lucrecia left. (Don’t get me started on the fact it sounds like Lucrecia left after Sephiroth’s birth which logically would need to have been ‘78/ ‘79 for first soldier to make sense and that this means she was literally in the same building as her son for five years) It makes more sense that he is Gast’s - a materia expert in his own right so it makes Genesis’s connection to materia an echo - but not Ifalna’s to me.
The fact Deepground seems to be a law unto itself and very isolated sort of makes it work a little better in the world. The entire Scarlet has access to it threw me from Remake, but why would someone like Scarlet tip her hand when she knows something other execs (especially Hojo) doesn't?
Within a few years of the Wutai War’s commencement, Genesis, one of the survivors of Jenova Project G, enlisted as a SOLDIER. The scientists of Shinra were eager to learn about Genesis’ potential having witnessed Sephiroth’s superhuman strength, and the reaction of Genesis’ cells with Mako infusion was carefully studied. Genesis, along with his friend and fellow product of Project Gillian, Angeal, were dubbed SOLDIER Type G. In Deepground, this was no surprise, since all of the colored Tsviets had been injected with Genesis’ genes. It was a prerequisite to earning a color title, and becoming one of the strongest and most gifted soldiers within the facility.
We get this little bit from Deepground which if you remember that the Jenova Project pronounced Genesis (and Angeal) not Jenova enough becomes really interesting. It’s almost as if they couldn’t tell when they were babies so they wrote them off only to realise there may be something there as they got older, but Deepground was literally set up to study the ‘unique’ genetics inside Genesis and became the lab version of the wild west in the process. Why would you do that  with someone who you don’t think is interesting enough to keep? It’s almost as if someone interfered. While I tend to judge Gast harshly, I could believe this was him - or could just have been Hojo making sure his kid got the traumatic childhood. It wouldn't hurt that he hated Gast either.
When it comes to using magic, we see words used in the casting when it's done by someone with a strong connection to magic. We see it in Aerith, we see it Yuffie and if we look at his limit break literally being the text of LOVELESS, we also see it in Genesis. If you add in his unusual connection to the lifestream (even his Avatar form uses it) then Genesis's connection to the planet seems to be stronger than most. It feels as if this is supposed to be important but as of yet, I don't know why.
I'm sure I'll add to this list at some point but I needed a way to get my thoughts down and this ended up being it.

⚠️Normal Angsty Warnings. Bewarb ⚠️
He is surrounded by the dead. Decay, heavy and sharp in the air. The Reaper's Barge, putrid flesh scarred by the fever's razor edge, he shakes his brothers arm wake up Jordie, WAKE UP!
The memory collides with reality and he has to fumble for what is real. But this reality can't be what's real because even fate could not be so cruel.
Kaz drops his eyes, they flicker over the scene, uncomprehending, he can't find where the nightmare ends or where it starts. This can't be her blood. He's lost so much and refuses to lose her, too.
It was supposed to be a simple mission. The five of them against the slavers in this tiny port a few hours south of Djerholm. The intel had been reviewed over and over until they were positive that the plan was full proof. The slavers were young and inexperienced in this trade, they posed so little a threat.
Yet here she was, trembling and sucking in stuttering breath sound by a circle of strangers. A circle of the dead.
"K-kaz, don't l-look. Don't look at-t the blood."
Inej seems to blur when he turns to her. Turns away from the blood. From the wound that he's barely holding together with his hands.
"Zenik!"
Nina stationed somewhere across the miniscule town, tasked with distracting the leader of this little band murders, will get here any minute. She will.
He takes in her face, so calm despite the cut arched across her brow, the gash cut deep into her side. Like she can't feel the blood pushing its way out of her.
It puddles under her, dark and endless, as though the night watched her fall and cried out inky tears keep her from smashing into the hard ground.
"Kaz."
He looks at her, so intently, concerned, trying to ignore the way his heart pulls and tugs toward her as if he could use his very heartstrings to stitch her back together.
"Nina. She'll be here soon. I've got you."
"Inej?"
Jesper is whispering, like if he speaks too loudly her spirit might find a way to leak out and leave them all behind.
"Leave us," Kaz hisses at him.
Jesper flinches, pulling away his reaching hand, stumbling back toward Wylan, who barely manages to hold unto him, sending them both crumpling to the ground.
"Kaz."
Inej is smiling at him. A weak, sad thing. Like she is about to say something to break his heart.
"No." She can't die. Of this, he's certain. "I've got you. Hold on Inej."
His eyes are burning again, blurring in a way he's not used to. The flames of it spread down his limbs and into his chest. They lick across his lungs eager and painful. He can't breath.
"Kaz."
There's a bubble of something red on her lips. It spills at the corner and drips toward her chin. He wants to wipe it away but he's too scared to pull his hands away from her side.
"Just wait. Please. Just-"
She cuts him off, that sad smile, her cool hand resting on his cheek, forcing his eyes to hers. He wants to pull away. He wants to lean in.
"We're out of time."
Something hot and wet slips down his face, lands on her cheek. He looks skyward, looking for clouds, the storm. A blessed rain from the Saints that will heal her.
"Kaz,"
There's nothing but stars.
"Kaz I-"
"No. Not like this."
The air is so cold he wonders if her blood might freeze.
"Kaz."
"I saved you once," he pleads.
Just wait. Hold on. I've got you.
"Kaz, I love you."
He can't form the words. His lips parted and throat dry. He wants to say it. Has too.
Her eyes are tired. The blood slows, still burning his skin. She coughs. Another red bubble gathering at her lips. She's slipping and she's still looking at him like he hung the moon. Just for her. Always for her.
Jesper is sobbing. Gripping Wylan like it's his life about to end.
Wylan stares. Tears collecting on his cheeks.
Kaz says nothing. He simply watches.
Sees the her hand slips from his face. Her chest shudders and stills above his fingertips. Her eyes. They dull slowly, surely, like clouds cover the sun.
"I saved you once."
He doesn't remember the words leaving his lips.
"Inej?"
I love you.
