merthurlin got me into xiaoven so ofc my list starts with her fic! this is just so so sweet and even if its not necessarily fluffy there is a warmth to the writing it is a comfort read for me! i recommend every work by her (regardless of fandom). though in xvn End OTW racism | never dreamed of nobody like you is another excellent fic!

In which Venti sells magical music boxes, Xiao is his unwitting customer, and there is absolutely, definitely nothing more to it at all.

modern au where venti is - a scammer? - i mean a music box seller and xiao is just a regular guy and and. its funny and delightful and absolutely breath taking. i wouldnt elaborate more so as not to spoil anything further but the fic has many unexpected surprises in it! yanrans is another writer i definitely recommend to check out more! their writing style is very flamboyant and poetic.

its so rare to see morally grey venti is potrayed (even though he isnt v morally grey but still. xiao having to remembering that venti isnt as honourable as he appears is yesssss wohoo). this fic has some thrilling action and a v fun cyberpunk world!! i wish it was longer but it is v exciting nevertheless

Stuck in a time loop where he succumbs to his karmic debt, Xiao struggles to see the point in moving forward. Venti struggles to save him.

SO FULL of everything WRONG with xiao!! and venti too but such a GREAT angst fic!! it gets everything so Right. magicites also happened to have written one of my most favourite genshin fic too :] and if you havent read her other works!! you are missing out!!

VENTI COMMITMENT ISSUES!!!!! as much as i adore reading xiao angst, venti angst is still something i love seeking out and its a tragedy that its not explored enough in this ship :c but anyway!!! such amazing characterization and exploration!! princeliest is one of fav genshin writers and this fic delivers!

When Venti first catches sight of the swords artfully hung on the wall of his new roommate's bedroom, he regrets putting up the sublease on Craigslist. Firmly believing this guy is a total weirdo, Venti is more surprised than anyone when he realizes the total weirdo is actually adorable. It's not against some invisible Roommate Code to dream about kissing your roommate, right?

ofc there is a classic roommate au fic!! this was one of my most favourite fic from last years xvn week: its hilarious and silly and just a perfect relaxing read!! the characterization and their banter is so entertaining i admit i have read this multiple times!

this fic is such a delight!! it has some light background lore, some silly shenanigans, miscommunications, pinning - a truly fun mixture! the fic is v light hearted but written with a lot of tenderness. i am v excited to see its conclusion!

what queer sins stain thy soul by Anonymous [ M, 3,232 words, 1/1 ]

In which Xiao, long-established asexual, learns that identity is not as stable as he’d like to believe.

there is some explicit things in it (in non explicit way) i believe religious guilt is one of the best flavouring to xvn. it is an under-explored area in this ship imo and this fic not only has that but also!!! asexuality !!!!!! this fic so so personal and its exploration of desire that gets to me a lot

unholy virtues by morphasia [ E, 17,065 words, 6/6 ]

In exchange for his body in more ways than one, Venti summons a demon to reclaim something that has been stolen from him. It's a just contract. That's all it's supposed to be. That's all it was ever supposed to be.

READ THE TAGS!!! this fic truly went creature/creature. this au is just so fascinating and funny in a twisted way (but not bad). this fic isnt for everyone though but it is definitely worth the shot.

i can't really see any possibility for sandrone other than her being a recreation of mary-ann. she's active in fontaine, has an interest in mechanics and machine development, and experimented on ruin machines from khaenri'ah--just as we know alain did. she has a vested interested in preserving meka that express sentient thought, or something close enough to it. her appearance matches young mary-ann's incredibly closely, from the shade of her hair and eyes and dress to even the way her hair is styled.

if we take each different version of mary-ann to represent a single part of a greater whole, she fits in perfectly. ann is the preserved form of their childhood, young and still learning, at the heart of her own story. 'mary-ann' is the part of herself that agreed with jakob and rene and lyris, that feared the future and dying and longed to hold onto her childhood home and her childhood friends. so sandrone could be the part of mary-ann that was active in the institute and that joined the marechaussee hunters, that researched mechanics alongside her brother, who tried, in her own way, to safeguard the future.

While Dottore shows clear disdain for even the thought of actually being considered Anastasiy's father, I like to think that he's weirdly sensitive to his son's emotions, dubbed his "motherly instincts" by a teasing Columbina.

At first, it was nothing more than occasionally jerking out of a dead sleep because he felt like something was wrong. That something wrong being the child trying to hide his sniffles as he cuddled up on the couch in search of comfort- which Dottore can't have that, he'll catch a cold. The first few times it seemed to be a fluke, Anastasiy just happened to be upset and wandering around in search of a quiet place to cry where he wouldn't be in the way. But after a coincidental string of instances, Dottore starts to catch on to something being... off.

Anastasiy isn't connected to the 'hive mind' of the segments. It comes with his baby status, apparently, but Dottore swears up and down that he can feel something. Most of the Harbingers just brush it off as him losing his marbles again, but Anastasiy starts seeking him out more at night, seems to take comfort in him being nearby. Hell, sometimes Dottore will wake up first and end up hunched over the bed, half asleep by the time the kid wakes up in tears. Dottore isn't Irnes, he isn't comforting by a long shot, but the kid grows on him, and he finds himself curled up in a bed two sizes too small for him with Anastasiy more often than not. His back isn't exactly happy about the arrangement, but it's worth it.

The closer he is, the less Anastasiy seems to worry, and he finds that he was wrong. He remembers thinking his son was nothing more than a little bastard, a version of him that loved mischief and mayhem- a burden, really. But now... He's found that the kid has inched closer to him, occasionally showing him his drawings and giving Dottore books to read. There's no longer that sudden bolt of panic, just a warm feeling that Dottore has never felt before.

And when he feels the pain of injury, the sadness of being betrayed by someone so close yet so far, when his son is too big to hold in his arms...

He still goes to him. He tends to his wounds, holds him by his side, and ignores the distant pulling, telling him that something is wrong.

Dottore is not a good man. He abandoned Anastasiy when he needed him most. He let his own anger and frustration get in the way of Pantalone's attempts to be amiable for the child's sake. He's fucked, and he knows it.

But Anastasiy deserves better. And he'll be damned if he doesn't give him his best.

lyney is talking about magic, but with the implication of an epidemic of memory loss in fontaine, this might have another meaning.

what happens when people can no longer rely on their minds, their recollections, their past to make decisions? what else is left, then, if not the present moment - if not what they can only see with their own eyes.

if you don't remember the functions that create the show, then you become part of it. without that recollection, you can only see to believe.

people who've lost their ideals. their values. their principles. people who can only rely on what is being shown. people who can no longer make proper judgements and, thus, depend on intelligent machinery to give the final ruling in any serious matter.

and what happens when the show is altered? the machinery tampered with?

and wouldn't that, then, be so easy a way to corrupt a nation?

if the important people do not remember why they are important, then they are just actors.

if they are being controlled or influenced by someone else, then they are puppets. false images of what they represent. props meant to instill artificial hope and security in the populace.

but, they can't help it. everything they ever know is only in the now. anything else, whether by human dependence or divine interference, has long been forgotten.

in fontaine, seeing is believing.

but when the only things people see may not even be real (the lyney & lynette props)...how can they not believe a lie?

I don’t know which thought is more horrifying to me: The thought that genshin impact characters with animal ears such as Yae Miko and Tighnari have two pairs of ears on their head, or the thought that they have smooth skulls without ears on the sides of their head, limited to only the pair atop their head instead.
