wed. 1.11.23 - what is your favorite weather to study in?

my favorite weather is easily either a super stormy night or a colder, windy day that's still sunny. i love having my window open in the winter and being able to feel the wind.

tues. 1.17.23 - how many books do you want to read this semester? this year?

my goal for this year is i think 20? i want to hit around that point, and i'm gonna try for 5 during the semester. i think that will allow for an achievable goal, while still focusing on my school work.

wed. 1.18.23 - what is your favorite place to eat on campus?

the market in between towers or the den. i get a popcorn chicken sub with pepperjack and mayo, honey mustard (the best condiment imo), lettuce, onion, and pickle. and then i go to the den and get an oreo milkshake made with strawberry ice cream. best combo. just off of campus is a really good pho place that i like though.

thurs. 1.19.23 - what is your favorite habit you’ve picked up since being in college?

easily going to the gym. i've been having so much fun creating workouts and i've been able to see myself getting stronger and its such a nice feeling.

Studyblr introduction

Hello :D

This is Reading Geo. I used to have a studyblr (<a href="https://geograblr.tumblr.com/">geogblr</a>, I'll probably be reblogging a bunch of stuff from there), but I decided to start a new one that I will hopefully keep up with.

I am a Geographic Information Systems student and I love maps. My program focuses on cartography, database management, and programming. I hope to study some other topics on the side as well (I'm very interested in IT and I hope to maybe be a system administrator one day).

10.5.19 I finished my essay. I ended up writing 3'200 words in 2 days. It's my last ever essay! I also went to my last ever seminar this afternoon for exam revision. I think I deserve the evening off, but I'm starting to feel that revision guilt. XxEmily

How is it Wednesday already? The time flies by very quickly during isolation!

Today I already had Geography and Math. I also did some German and Spanish on Duolingo.

My only plan for the rest of the day is reading a book. It's finally raining and I think that's the perfect weather for reading!

sometimes i get a bit scared being in this old uni building late at night because it's allegedly haunted. but then i remember that 1) i don't believe in ghosts and 2) even if there were any, i can't get mad at a little guy who runs around this place late at night wishing he could leave cause that's what i do too. difference is i actually will in a few days.

have decided to focus in on a smaller number of assessments and apply to have the other ones discounted, so the total number of words needed is less than it was, but the progress i'd written on some of the now discounted assessments is also gone

fall '23 challenge day one

day 1: what classes are you taking this semester and which are you most excited for?

I am taking 18 credits this semester split up between six classes. on mondays and wednesdays I only have one class which is digital imaging which is basically just photography. I am also helping out with the tv news class this semester.

on tuesdays and thursdays I have reporting and news writing as well as intro to video production. also I have a once a week class on tuesdays which is called journalism in film that's two and a half hours.

along with my in-person classes I am taking two asynchronous classes which are nutrition and intro to sociology. I am horrible with online classes so let's hope that I do okay in these this semester.

on top of all these I am in a sorority where I am the membership and recruitment director, I am a writer for my school's newspaper, I am a secretary for another club, and I'm trying to gauge interest for another one.

I am definitely excited for journalism in film we'll basically just be watching a bunch of movies together. I am also very excited for nutrition as it has been something I have always been interested in. Intro to video production is another one that I'm really looking forward to, because I love working with video and we get to produce variety shows at the end of it. the last one I'm excited for is sociology because I think I am going to love my professor. I think this just goes to show that I am really excited for this semester.
