Meant to Be

Fred Weasley x Reader
Summary: You and Fred were always inseparable. It took you years and years to finally understand why.
You felt his breath on your neck as he slept behind you, his arm around your waist, holding you close to his chest as he slept.
You heard his other brothers in the room snoring. It was as if George and Percy were having a competition on who could be louder.
But you were focusing on Fred, your boyfriend laying behind you as he slept comfortably.
Fred asked you to spend Christmas with him and his family and why would you say no?
Fred and you had been practically inseparable since 3rd year. At first, you two were only friends but you always knew it was meant to be more.
You became his girlfriend a year later when he asked you.
The two of you were soulmates.
People often told you that and in the beginning, you didn't believe them. But now you did.
How else could you explain your deep love towards the boy?
You loved his mischievous ways, you loved him.
So, when he asked you if you wanted to come over for Christmas so his parents can officially meet you, you were nervous, but you said yes.
And you were glad that you did because his parents are wonderful.
You felt so welcomed and Molly even gave you a present, a lovely scarf which you will wear with pride.
When you mentioned that you rather sleep with Fred, no one had an issue with it, as if it was evident to them.
You slowly moved to turn around in his arms. His body moved with you but he didn't wake up. He moved onto his back as you moved your head into the place between his shoulder and neck.
He smelt like cinnamon, fireworks and warm. He smelled like home.
Your hand moved to his chest as you soon fell asleep. You woke up to the noise of people talking.
You soon realized that Fred was talking as you felt the deep vibrations in his chest.
He was talking with George who was laying in his bed not too far from you.
Percy, long gone possibly to help his mother.
You moved slightly and Fred placed a kiss to your forehead.
"Morning, Princess." you let out a groan as you turned the other way, with your back to him, ready to fall asleep.
"Wake her up, I'll tell mum you will be down soon." George said with a laugh as you heard him leave.
"Princess, Mum made breakfast, we should go."
"I'm too comfortable." you replied. It was true. You probably never slept any better than this night, in his arms.
He put kisses on your shoulder as you closed your eyes.
"Darling?" You hummed, waiting for him to continue. "I love you." you smiled, not opening your eyes as you whispered back.
"I love you too, Freddie." you let out a sigh before opening your eyes. You offered him a smile. "Let's get breakfast, wouldn't want your mum to think I'm lazy."
"Oh, Darling, my mum adores you." Fred watched as you got out of bed, gathered your things and were about to head to the bathroom.
Before you could, his long arms wrapped around you, as he pulled you in for a kiss.
"Gosh, I love you too much." he said and it made you giggle.
"I love you very much, Fred." with one last peck to your lips, he let you get ready as did he.
The two of you were definitely meant to be. He was your trickster while you kept him in lane.
He was the joker while you were more serious, but it didn't mean you two didn't fit, quite the opposite.
The two of you fit together like puzzle pieces who were meant to be.
You two were soulmates.

A pair of Gryffindor sat on a sofa in a secluded part of the common room.  The two had previously worked on their charms homework together, however, one had seemingly finished and moved on to a book, while the other one took avoiding it as his main mission in life. However, any attempt to get a reaction from the girl goes unnoticed by her. Disappointed he returned to doing his homework. They both fail to notice his twin approaching with their friend.
“You two ARE having sex!” Fred yells making some heads in the common room turn in their direction with curiosity.  George jumps a bit in shock and looks at his brother. eyes widening.
“Really? George, why didn't you tell me? I would have put my book down.” Says the girl lazily not even attempting to put her book down. She was not even bothered enough to pick up her gaze from it or bothered by her friend's antics.
“ We are not!” George argues back as Fred and Lee sit down opposite the couple. That however goes flat to their ears. Because if there is something Fred loves more than testing his brothers, it's teasing his twin brother.
“Fred, the only people having sex here, are the characters in my book.” She says, turning to another page. George leans over and tries to peek whether that is true or not. The girl shuts the book with a loud bang and places it gently on the table. Now finally giving all the attention to the overly loud Gryffindor duo. Lee's hand reaches for the book but she just swats it away.
“What do you want.” She asks.
“I want, you two to admit you're dating.” He says pointing a finger between her and George.
“Not gonna happen Fred.”
“Why not?”
“ Because we are not dating, easy as that.”
“Bullshit!” Fred yells and slams his fist onto the coffee table. She leans back into the sofa and just shakes her head dissapointly. Kicking her feet up on the coffee table and crosses her hands over her chest.
“You have no valid argument, Fred. I will not debate this with you if you have no evidence.” She says looking into Fred's eyes, knowing damn well it will fire the boy up. He narrows his eyes at her and nods as if telling her he will play her little game. Quickly he turns to Lee and they start whispering sometimes glancing at the pair. The two of them made it look like they just thought of a groundbreaking strategy in quidditch.
“ You know what you're doing, right?” George leans back and looks at the girl. Giving up on the homework at this point. She just smirks and nods. Lee and Fred turn back and simultaneously clear their throats.
“We have proof.” He says seriously and pokes Lee in his side with his elbow. The girl just raises her eyebrow before motioning them to continue. Lee sits up straight.
“ I have seen you two almost kiss in the corridor before.” He says very proud of himself. Fred started franticly nod and a smile spread across his face. Gorges's eyes widen a little at this information. The girl, however, remained unphased.
“ You can't prove that it was us. I could have been anyone.” She argues back, looking at her nails, seemingly bored. Fred's smile flatters a bit before he jumps up.
“I CAN RECOGNISE MY FACE ANYWHERE!” He yells and points at the girl. She just lifts her gaze and him.
“You didn't see us tho. Lee did. Hence, could have been anyone.” Fred's and George's faces snap to Lee who gulps very loudly. Looking nervous between the two brothers and the girl. Lee felt like in the front line of a war.
“ We walked together to the library after tho.” He says.
“ You walked together to the library after!” Fred repeats seeing this as his victory. Placing his hands on his hips and making a superhero pose. The girl just sighs and takes her legs off of the coffee table.
“ Are you jealous about me almost kissing George? Fine. I can almost kiss Lee if you want. Even you if you desire so much.”  Whine leaves Geroge as Fred and Lee watch the girl in confusion.
“What.”
“You heard me, Weasley.” She says before getting up from her comfortable spot. Both Lee and Fred move a few inches back. She just chuckles and goes to pack her things. George sees this and goes to do the same.
“Plus it couldn't be me kissing George, as I fancy someone else.” She says after picking her book from the table and placing it in her bag.
“You do?” Say all 3 boys at the same time. She just rolls her eyes at their antics and turns to leave. George hurriedly followed her.
“ Where are you going?” Fred asks as both of them get up and move toward the exit. She just flashes him a smile.
“ To almost kiss your brother in the corridor.”
The four of them were on their way to Hogsmeade. The snow as fallen in a thick  layer and all there was to do was some shopping. The twins wanted to buy some trinkets from Zonks, while Lee and the girl had only butter beer on their minds. Walking swiftly to get from the cold and hoping their younger siblings don't catch up on them and they would be forced to take them with. Fred and Lee led the group, while the other two were falling behind. Fred and Lee could be heard from miles away. George opted for a much quieter conversation with his partner.
“ When are we going to tell him?” asks George the girl next to him. “Don't get me wrong, it's hilarious, but I miss holding your hand.” He continues and his hand brushes over hers. Although he dubs she could feel it over her gloves. To be fair, George finds it as much fun as she does. He just sometimes misses her despite being right next to her.
“You can hold my hand whenever you want to, but, It's too much fun, it's like he's obsessed.” A smile spreads across her lips as she stops her movements and looks at the boy. He also stops and looks at the girl. Her hand extends to him as a gentle offering. He takes it as fast as he can. Walking closer to her, he places his other hand on her cheek.  Smile adored both of them, as George leaned in, Smack.
Crumbs of snowball have fallen on her face, a giggle escaped her. George wipes his head around to see his brother and friend both with loaded-up snowballs. Before he can react, two more hit him. Effectively stunning him.
“OI! Hurry up you lovebirds!” yells Lee before he and Fred run in the direction of Three Broomsticks. George just curses and runs behind them. Leaving the girl to leisurely walk and meet them there.
When she got here, all of them had already shed their outdoor layers and had butterbeers sitting in front of them. One was in a space next to George waiting for her. She took her scarf and coat off. Something perked up Fred's attention.
“Is this your way of telling us?” He says pointing between her and George.
“Telling you what?” She asks, sitting down. Not even being able to take a sip of her drink before Fred spits other nonces.
“That you two are together.” Lee is however faster and suppresses his friend in the explanation. The girl just rolls her eyes before taking a sip. A foam mustache forms on her upper lip that she quickly wipes with the sleeve of her sweater. Momentarily stopping to progress something.
“ Guys, we have been over this.” Defends George this time. Fred just narrowed his eyes at him before pointing at the girl, who was still frozen.
“Explain this then!” He says and grabs the sleeve of the sweater she was wearing. “ This is your sweater!!” Sudden touch wakes the girl up and she retracts her hand.
“Again Fred, you can't prove that.” He looks at her in disbelief, lost for words from the sheer audacity of this girl. Groan leaves George and Lee is just laughing at his friends' antics.
“Oh? So the giant G on the front doesn't mean anything?” Recovers Fred rather quickly. George chokes on his butter beer and Lee goes to pat him on the back. The girl looks down and stretches the sweater. There is indeed a giant G on it. No dubbed Mrs. Weasly work as always. She wondered if she did it to help herself to keep track of whose laundry she was doing.
“It's just a G, could mean anything.” leaves her.
“G for George.”
“ Or G for Ginny, ya know? Your sister.” She says, raising her eyebrow at him.
“Why would you have my sister's sweater?” he asks accusingly. She just shrugs and takes another sip from her drink.
“ Why would I have George's one? I don't like him like that.” When she says it like that it makes sense for her to have Ginnys' sweater more than Georges.
“So you do like him!” Lee jumps on the accusation train. Another groan leaves George and he finishes his drink.
“Just how I like you, and Fred, and Padma, and Harry, And-”
“ Okay, okay, I get it.” Freds gives up and takes a sip. A smirk spreads on his face. “ So tell us, who do you fancy?”
“Hmmm, well, truth to be told, he's a Gryffindor, tall, and very cheeky and his name is- WELL would you look at that! I will get us another round.” She says and gets up from her spot. Knowing better than to take Fred's bait, she walked away to the bar. She can hear Fred turning to Lee and George.
“I'm telling you it's George, You can't fight me on this one!” Georges's giggles are heard throughout the tavern. “ Motherfucker, you ain't telling us shit!”
A scream is heard throughout the burrow, together with fast steps going down the stairs.
Harry, Hermione, and Lee turn to the sound startled. The 3 Weasleys, however, not even looking up from their card game. Fred places one card down making Ginny frown and carefully study her own. Ron just curses under his breath.
The girl appeared first with the other twin on her toes. She stops in front of the group, eyes gleaming with victory. George stops once he notices the other people, opting to just stand behind her.
“Are you okay?” Hermione asks, Placing her own card down without even looking. Ron curses again and tries to peak at Harry's cards. He just presses them to his chest, preventing him.
“Yeah, why?” The girl asks, clearly out of breath from running from the much faster boy behind her.
“ The scream?” Harry says, not really sure he wants to join the conversation. She just waves her arms at them.
“Oh no, don't worry. It's something George did.” The boy behind her straightens at his name. Looking at his sister who seemed to be winning the game with almost no effort.
“ Oh Merlin, he finally did it. He showed her the birthday suit.” Fred says.
“and it was SMALL.” Followed Lee, Fred's head snapped to his friend, he took full offense to that. Hemione's face twists in disgust. A small ‘ew’ can be heard from Ginny before she places another card on the table. Ron makes a fake gaging sound and George had nothing better than ‘dude’. The girl laughs at this.
“Oh Lee, I love you so much,” she says and goes to hug him. George whines and stops her by grabbing her upper arm.
“I can confirm that is not true mate.” Says Fred with full confidence. George just shakes his head. Hermione decided to force her cards on Harry, who was not very happy about it, and got up.
“I'm going to make some tea, you want some?” She says to the girl, she just nods and follower her to the kitchen.
“ Count me in!” Says Ginny as she places her last card on the table, successfully winning the game. Her brothers and friends just groan. Ron looks like he might cry at this point.
The girls moved to the kitchen where Mrs. Weasley was looking out the window, watching her older sons and husband work in the yard. She notices them walking into the kitchen and smiles at them. Ginny mentions something about tea and the girls sit down. After some time and bickering over what does and does not belong in tea, steaming cups were sat before them. Hermione breaks the silence.
“So, when are you gonna announce it?” Confused look from the girl, Mrs. Weasly just glances at them, seemingly paying them no mind. While she may be facing the window, her years are very much facing the three girls sitting at her dining table. Because be assured if something is going on with her children, under her roof, she is bound to know. The girls didn't even have time to answer before Ginny jumped in.
“Wait, are not just pretending to not know in front of Fred?” She asked, confused as well. Hermione stops putting sugar in her tea and fully turns to the girl. She grabs her hands into hers and looks her in the eyes.
“Are you?” The girl grows nervous. Curse Ginny and her watching people skills.
“I have no idea what you're on about Hermione.” she says with a full chest, then leans in and whispers.” Let's not talk about it in front of his mum!”
“Stop whispering, we all know something is going on between you and George. I know my brothers, and I know when they have that lovesick look.” Ginny blows on her tea before taking a sip. Somehow she manages to give both of them a pointed look.
“I know what you look like with that look too, don't start Ginny.” says the horrified girl, still not comfortable that Mrs. Weasly is there. Ginny goes red and just looks away. Speaking of the older woman, she turns to them.
“ Who has a lovesick look?” She asks with a smile that feels a little bit too threatening to all of them, although others may see it as the sweetest one.
“You when you look at dad. What is he doing anyway.” Ginny says hoping to change the subject. The older woman just huffs, turns around, and looks out the window again. Ginny leans forward to the other two before she whispers.
“I'm just saying, let it really be my sweater you borrow next time.” A smirk on her lips when she retries. With the corner of her eye, she sees her brother trying to catch a glimpse of the embarrassed girl.
“Source?” Lee asks.
“ Dude, trust me,” Fred answers.
“ You know I am physically unable to do that.” The two boys were hiding behind a bush. Good view of the pair sitting on the bench.
“ I too was advised, not to trust you.” Pipes in Collin, who was dragged into this mess by an accident. The poor boy wanted a picture of that tiny firework Fred had, instead, he dragged him to this when he refused to let him borrow his camera.
“Collin, this is the talk. This is the news! I need you to take a picture of them when they kiss.” Says Fred, a creepy grin on his face. Collin scared a bit just nods his head and gets in position. After a few good minutes of spying, Fred gets impatient and turns to Lee.
“Should we find a better spot? My feet kinda hurt from squatting.” He says but then a shutter goes off. A little photo comes from the camera and Fred grabs it.
“AHA, GOT YOU!” he jumps out waving it in the air and running to the startled couple. Scaring the couple that jumps away from each other a little. Lee and Collin follow behind him.
“What are you on about Fred?” Asks him, George. Still holding the girl that had her legs on his lap.
“ YOU TWO! KISSING! I GOT PROOF!” HE yells and shows them the picture. The girl just grabs it and looks at it. Fred is jumping up and down, hugging Collin and then Lee. Victory celebration. The girl gets up and walks to the poor younger Gryffindor. George is pulled up by Fred and forced to join a jumping hug.
“Hey Collin, can I keep this?” She asks the boy gently. He just nods, seemingly scared of the situation. The girl turns back to the three overgrown babies smile on her face. She can no longer argue about proof, as she was holding one in her hand. She turns to Collin again and tells him he can go. The boy just nods and runs away as fast as he can, very much terrified of his upperclassmen.
George wiggles out of the hug and makes his way to her. Cheers can be heard from his brother and friend. When they meet again, George stops right in front of her. One of his hands finds her waist and the other on her neck. They stay like this for a few seconds seemingly in their word, not noticing the cheers dying down. He leans in, their lips brush, when...
“Not in front of me Forge!” Yells Fred with the girl in his arms, running away with laughter, followed by Lee. George was frozen in his position, the girl missing from his arms. George shakes his head at his brothers' antics. Now that he looks at it, maybe living in denial wasn't the worst thing. Because if there is anything his twin loves more than teasing other people, is teasing him.

“You’re staring again.”
You turned to your friend. “I am not.”
Bernice arched an eyebrow, gazing at you with skepticism.
“Okay, I was staring,” you said defeatedly, looking down, “but Binnie, look at him; I just can’t help it.”
You'd been infatuated with Fred Weasley since the first time you met him. You'd spent the last few months trying to flirt with him and show him how you felt, but he didn’t seem to be on the same page.
“Why don’t you ask him out? Straightforward. Without beating around the bush.”
“And have him laugh in my face, leaving me with shame and rejection for the rest of my life? Thank you, but no. Besides, Fred is no idiot; he clearly observed my advances on him and chose to ignore them since he isn't interested.”
Bernice remained silent for a few minutes before breaking into a wicked smile. You knew what that smile meant; you'd seen it a thousand times since you befriended the redhead in your first year at Hogwarts — and it never meant anything good.
“You should make him jealous.”
“What?” You frowned, a confused expression painted on your face.
“Look, men are inherently jealous. Now, he may appear uninterested, but if he realizes he's losing you, he'll go for it.”
You were perplexed when you stared at her. “Where did you learn that?”
“From a magazine of my muggle neighbor.”
“And you’re sure it’s going to work?” You inquired, still dubious.
Bernice nodded confidently, which gave you some comfort. She appeared to know what she was talking about.
“So, how can I make him jealous?”
“Easy. You go out with someone else,” Bernice said. “His twin brother is single, right? Go out with him and show Fred how much fun you can have with someone else.”
“With George? Why does it have to be George?”
“Because it will make him ten times more jealous. Siblings always want what the other has.”
You couldn’t know if that statement was true, since you were an only child who never had to share anything.
“Look, Fred believes he has you in the palm of his hand; his ego towers higher than the astronomy tower. He needs to come back down to earth.”
You sunk into your seat. You were hesitant. How could you do something so wildly unethical, not to mention how it would hurt George in the process? Was your desire to have Fred return your affections really worth it?
“What if George rejects me?”
“He will not,” Bernice said, shaking her head. “He’s the nice twin.”
“Fred is nice too.”
Your friend rolled her eyes. “You know what I mean.”
Tumblr media
You sat in your bedroom, quietly staring at the wall. This morning's conversation with Bernice was still circling your head. You knew it was childish, but you also knew there was a chance it would work. Still, you were hesitant. You liked George and you considered him a good friend; he was nice and he didn’t deserve to be used and discarded. Furthermore, what if Fred didn’t want you after you broke his twin brother’s heart?
No. There was no chance you’d risk that.
You groaned and buried your face in your pillow, letting out a frustrated cry. You were truly helpless.
One of those muggle magazines Bernice mentioned might be useful right now.
You turned around and started looking intently at the ceiling, as if the solution you were looking for were, somehow, written there. Suddenly, a spark went off in your head.
“What if I tell George about the plan and I ask him to help me?”
That was a better idea than what Bernice first suggested. Fred would still believe you and George were together, and no one would be hurt.
Yeah, that was a brilliant plan. Now you just needed George to agree to it.
“I can always bribe him with chocolate frogs.”
You also had some galleons that he could invest in creations for their future store.
Finding George was more difficult than you expected, and that the castle was of gigantic dimensions did not help in your search either. He could be anywhere. Well, except for the library. That was a place you wouldn’t bother to search.
Frustrated, you trekked outside to the Quidditch pitch, where you finally spotted George and the rest of the team, who appeared to have just finished practicing.
“George! Where have you been?” You exclaimed as you dashed up to him.
George looked up, surprised. He wasn’t usually the twin you sought out. But before he could reply to your query, Fred joined you.
“Hey, Y/N. You look good today,” he said, his signature charm smile on his face.
You fought the flush that was coming up on your face and tried to keep focused on what you needed to get done. “Thank you,” you replied before turning your attention to George again. “Can I talk to you?”
George nodded but made no moves to exit the pitch.
“In private,” you specified.
As he nodded, understanding rushed over him. Then he turned to Fred. He didn't say anything; they just looked at each other for a few seconds like they were communicating telepathically — something that frightened you every time they did it. Fred rolled his eyes and walked away, muttering something under his breath.
“Well?” He inquired, intrigued, once you were alone.
“I need to ask you for a favor,” you said, sheepishly. He didn’t say anything so you continued. “I want to make Fred jealous.”
George frowned, confused. “Not sure how I can help you with that.”
You sighed, “I really like him, but he doesn’t address any of my advances. If he sees I’m interested in you, it would make him want me.”
“Who told you that?”
“A muggle magazine.”
George kept staring at you as if you'd grown two heads.
“Please, George. All you have to do is pretend you like me and that we’re dating.”
“I’m not sure I’m comfortable with pretending to date someone.”
“It's just for a little while!” You begged. “Please, George. You're my only hope.”
After a few minutes of contemplation, George finally agreed. “Alright, fine. Let's give it a shot.”
You made a small enthusiastic leap. “Thank you, George. You’re the best.”
Tumblr media
You shuffled anxiously outside the Great Hall the next morning, eyeing Fred from afar. George, who was standing next to you, cleared his throat.
“You ready for this?” he asked.
You took a deep breath before nodding. “Let's go.”
George extended his hand, and you entwined your fingers with his before walking into the Great Hall hand in hand, garnering some surprised looks from some of your classmates. You dashed over to the Gryffindor table where Fred was already seated.
“Morning, Fred,” you said joyfully as you sat down, still holding George's hand.
Fred cocked his brow. “What's going on with you two?” he asked suspiciously.
You shrugged. “Nothing much, we're just enjoying each other's company.” You gave George a sly smile and leaned over to rest your head on his shoulder.
George returned your smile. “I couldn't resist.”
Fred cast a skeptical glance between you two. “You guys are really dating now?”
You nodded, taking a sip of your pumpkin juice. “Yep, we decided to give it a try.”
Fred appeared to be uncomfortable, but he tried to mask it by stuffing some food into his mouth. You noticed how uneasy he looked and whispered into George's ear. “It’s working, he's definitely jealous.”
George chuckled softly and squeezed your hand under the table. As you finished your breakfast, you caught Bernice’s eye from the other side of the table, giving you a thumbs up.
You smiled back, grateful for your friend's encouragement. With Bernice’s idea of fake dating George, you finally had a chance to make Fred see you in a different light.
It just started and it was already working.
Tumblr media
You and George were huddled up in one of the couches of the Gryffindor Common Room, lost in your own world.
Pretending to date George turned out to be pretty easy. He’d do all these nice things like wait for you in the mornings and walk you to breakfast and carry your books to class, even if you told him it wasn’t necessary. Also, he didn’t miss an opportunity to hold your hand or kiss your cheek.
You'd seen something light up in Fred's eyes whenever George touched you, like that first morning in the Great Hall. Despite this, he had done nothing about it. In fact, you haven’t had a conversation with the older twin since all this sham started.
You and George haven’t had a proper fake date either. And with Hogsmade weekend approaching, you decided it was the ideal time to put on a show of phony young love.
“Get a room!” Lee joked from one of the couches.
You rolled your eyes, but couldn’t help but smile, “We’re in a room,” you said.
Angelina piped up. “Yeah but I don’t think we want to hear all that snogging!”
Truth to be told, you and George only have shared chaste, innocent kisses. At first you were a little apprehensive, and you could sense George was as well. You didn’t want to dive in too deep, but if your only kisses were on the cheeks, you knew it wouldn't be very convincing.
George couldn’t help but tease back. “Jealous?” he asked with a smirk. And although it was Angie who made the comment, he said this looking at his brother, expecting to get a reaction, but Fred only rolled his eyes and started a conversation with Lee. Even still, he would steal glances from time to time.
“We should go on a date this Saturday,” you suggested.
George hummed in response.
“We could go to Honeydukes and then get some butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks,” you added.
“That sounds great, love.”
Tumblr media
Under a lovely blue sky, you and George wandered through the charming streets of Hogsmeade. You laughed as you passed the various shops, your eyes sparkling with delight.
The wonderful fragrance of candy filled the air as you walked towards Honeydukes.
You took George's hand in yours and led him inside, eager to indulge in some treats.
"Wow, look at all these sweets!" You exclaimed as you surveyed the colorful display cases. “Let's get some chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.”
It was foolish of you to get so excited over candy, but you couldn’t help it, you had a sweet tooth.
“So what’s your favorite candy here?” George asked.
You grinned. “I'm a sucker for the peppermint toads.”
George laughed. “Typical. I'm more of a chocolate person myself.”
After filling up on treats, you took a leisurely stroll through the quaint town, admiring the intricate fairy lights and bobbing for apples at games stalls.
As you were exploring the stores and taking in the charming atmosphere, George spotted a flower shop and decided to buy you a rose. When he handed it to you, you flushed. “You're such a gentleman.”
“Only for you,” he said with a smile.
As dusk started to set in, you made your way over to The Three Broomsticks to warm up with some butterbeer. You found a cozy corner booth, your eyes locked onto each other. The candlelight flickered softly, casting shadows on your faces.
The quaint pub was bustling with students from Hogwarts and other wizards and witches from Hogsmeade.
“This is really nice,” George said, taking a sip from his butterbeer. “I haven't been here in ages.”
You smiled sweetly at him. “I'm glad you're enjoying it. I thought it would be nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the school for a bit.”
George nodded in agreement. “It's nice to have a change of scenery, especially with good company.”
There was a brief moment of silence between the two of them before you spoke up. “I had an amazing day. Thank you, George,” you said sincerely.
“You’re welcome, love,” he responded, smiling.
You chatted for what seemed hours while sipping on the frothy drink. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, with the crackling of the fireplace in the background.
“I can't believe we're already in our final year,” you said wistfully.
“Time flies when you're having fun,” George remarked.
Despite the fact that you had been out for the majority of the day, you couldn't help but feel that your date had finished far too soon, but you were glad for such a great day. You couldn't recall ever feeling so at ease around someone, let alone a boy.
You were growing so used to this relationship that you forgot you weren’t actually dating him.
Tumblr media
You walked into the Gryffindor Common Room with a wistful expression on your face. Bernice had been lounging in one of the armchairs by the fireplace, flipping through a magazine. As soon as she saw you, she jumped up excitedly.
“So, how was Hogsmeade? Did you and George have fun?” your friend asked eagerly, a hint of mischief glimmering in her own eyes; waiting for you to spill the beans.
You sank down onto the couch next to her and let out a sigh. “It was...nice,” you said, your voice tinged with uncertainty.
Bernice raised an eyebrow. “Nice? That's all you're going to give me? You'll have to do better than that if you want me to help you get Fred's attention.”
You looked away uncomfortably. “That's just it, though. I don't think I want Fred's attention anymore.”
Bernice's mouth dropped open in surprise. “What? Why not? You've been crushing on him forever!”
"I know, but...after spending time with George, I realized there might be something there," you admitted quietly.
“Oh no, Y/N. This is not what we planned. You were supposed to make Fred jealous, not fall for George.”
“I know, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen. But George is just so wonderful, I can’t help how I feel.”
“Well, I guess we have to come up with a new plan then. Maybe we can find someone else for you to date and make Fred jealous that way.”
“I don’t know, Binnie,” you murmured. “I should never have dragged George into my mess. Maybe I should just be honest with him.”
“That’s a risky move, Y/N. What if he doesn’t feel the same way? Then things could get awkward between you two.”
“I know, but I think it’s worth the risk.”
Bernice placed a hand on your shoulder sympathetically “Alright. It’s your call,” she said. “I'm here for you no matter what you decide.”
“Thanks, Binnie,” you smiled. “I appreciate it.”
Tumblr media
As you approached George, your heart rate increased. You rubbed your hands, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. You sat down on the bench near George, taking a deep breath before starting the conversation.
“George, I... I need to talk to you.”
“Of course, what’s up?” he responded kindly, a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
“I don't know how to say this, but... I know we started pretending to date to make Fred jealous. But... sometime along the way, I began to see you differently. You're... smart, funny and kind-hearted. And I'm not sure when it happened but…” You looked up for a second to observe his reaction, “I think I like you. Like, I like, like you.”
George's eyes widened in surprise as he heard what you said. Silence filled the air as George sat there astonished, his thoughts jumbled as he tried to process everything that you had just told him. Finally, he took your hand in his own and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“Y/N,” he said softly, “I like you, believe me, I do. But… I think you are confused.”
You peered into George's eyes, not understanding what he was saying. “What? I’m not confused; I know how I feel.” You sighed, feeling embarrassed and exposed. “I know it's sudden, George. And I understand if you don't feel the same way,” you added, looking down at your hands.
George took a moment to think before responding. “It's not that I don't have feelings for you, Y/N. It's just...I don't know, this whole fake dating thing was confusing enough as it is. And Fred… he’s my twin brother, he’s in the picture too,” he paused and exhaled deeply. “I need time to figure things out,”
You nodded understandingly. “I get it, George. Take all the time you need. I just wanted to be honest with you,” you said, standing up.
George stood up as well, giving you a small smile. “Thanks for telling me, Y/N. We'll talk more soon, okay?”
“Okay,” you agreed before walking away, feeling both relieved and nervous about where things might go from there.

Hi, hello! I hope you are doing fine and are happy! I got to know you from your Charlie Weasley fics and I wanted to hop in here!
Charlie had always seemed to me as someone chill most of the time, but when Bill or anyone mentions his s/o or crush, he would become sooo red that his siblings would make fun of him by teasing him how he gives lovesick smiles etc.
I was hoping to hear your thoughts and it would be amazing if you wrote something short and sweet!
Don't forget to take cate of yourself, love you😊🥰
hiiii, love! 😊😊 I hope you're having a great day today too! AHHH thank you so much for liking my Charlie stories! I love writing for him! oh my God! I love this plot so much! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I feel like this is DEFINITELY something that would happen to Charlie! love you too! ❤️❤️
"Oi, Charlie, isn't that your girlfriend?" Bill asked, pointing your way in Diagon Alley.
"What? Charlie has a girlfriend?" George and Fred asked at the same time.
"I don't have a girlfriend!" he glared at them and then at Bill. "She's not my girlfriend!"
"Oh, but you know who I'm talking about" Bill smirked as Ginny giggled being carried on her oldest brother's back.
"Are you sure? Your face is turning red" she chuckled.
"Ginny!"
"They're not wrong" Percy pointed out. "You talk about her non-stop, and the two of you are practically glued together when in school-"
"That is not true!"
"She's coming this way!" Ron alerted him.
"Charlie?" you asked, smiling. You recognized Bill, Percy and you could never not notice the twins. "Hi, I thought that was you" you said walking over to him and hugging him.
"H-hi, love" he said, hugging you and kissing your cheek, trying his best to ignore, Bill's smirk. "F-fancy meeting you here" he stuttered.
"Yeah, it was a bit hard to miss all the redheads" you chuckled. "Hi, Bill, Percy" you nodded their way. "George, Fred" you told them. "And I don't believe I know you two" you said, looking at Ginny and Ron.
"Oh, right" Bill said. "This is Ron, he's starting next year" he informed you. "And this little rascal is Ginny" he told you.
"You're really pretty" Ginny smiled at you, making you feel your cheeks burning.
"Oh, thank you! So are you" you smiled.
"Are you Charlie's girlfriend?"
"RON!"
"Oh, um- n-no" you chuckled, nervously. "We're just f-friends" you explained.
"Um, guys, why don't we go find mum and dad" Bill said, pulling Ron along with him.
"But we wanna stay-" the twins started.
"NOW!" Bill instructed, making all of them follow the oldest Weasly and leaving you and Charlie alone.
"Sorry about that" Charlie said, with his face still flushed.
"It's alright" you insisted. "Your family is awesome" you told him.
"Live with them for eighteen years and then get back to me" he said. "Hey, um... would you maybe like to uh- I don't know, go get some ice cream or something? Sometime?" he asked, nervously, placing his hand on the back of his neck.
"Well, I'm not doing anything right now" you told him.
"R-really?" he chuckled, feeling releived.
"Yeah" you said, as he held your hand and walked you in the opposite direction of his family.
"Mate, see? Now they're going to get ice cream. Without us!" Ron complained to Bill.

The Best Admirer
Fred! Weasley x GN!Reader
(Friends to lovers <3)
This is a Gender nuetral fic. I have only ever written for Fem! but I tried my best to use language that was GN. Let me know if there is anything I can do to improve!
a/n: Sorry for taking so long with this fic. I wanted to try something different. You and Fred are in your sixth year, also scabbers isn't Petter Pettigrew in this he is just a rat lol. Thank you for all the likes and interactions! I'm glad you all like my content. Feel free to request more Harry Potter fics for any character! As always feel free to interact and comment :) Not proof read!
Summary: You have been receiving letters from a secret admirer for weeks. The only problem is you are in love with Fred Weasley, who acts like you are best buds and nothing more. What happens when the secret admirer decides they are done sending letters and wants to meet in person.
Tumblr media
This is the sixth letter you have received in the last two weeks. Not that you aren't flattered, you just wish that this "secret admirer" would reveal themselves already. You aren't the most patient person, you never have been and all these letters are pushing your curiosity.
The first letter was lovely. You had never had someone pay that much attention to you or at least tell you about it. It made you start questioning who this mystery person was.
"Dear Y/n, A few days ago I saw you sitting in the library, catching up on DADA homework. I have never seen anyone look so ethereal. How can someone look so unearthly, while doing something so mundane? The way you stick your tongue out ever so slightly when you are writing, or when you bite your lip when you are focused on something so intense makes me melt. I've never seen something so perfect. I hope I don't sound creepy, but I wanted to express how amazing you are to me.
Love, your secret admirer."
After the third one, your curiosity increased. You had no clue who it could be. Valentine's Day was coming up and you wondered if your admirer would reveal themselves soon. As selfish as it was you only had one person you hoped this could be.
Fred Weasley
You and Fred have been friends since the first year after he defended you against a seventh-year student who thought it was funny to make fun of your glasses.
Fred has always been a good friend to you. You're close to George as well, but it could never compare to the connection you have with his brother. You and Fred understand each other in a way no one else could. You didn't develop a crush on him until your third year, but ever since then, your feelings have only grown.
It's a cold and wet February day, not that you mind. You've always found comfort in the rain.
You are walking to class with a group of your friends, holding the latest letter in your hand, when you hear distinct laughter behind you.
"OI, BUNNY!" You hear footsteps bounding behind you as you turn around to see Fred and George sharing a wide smile and jogging to catch up to you.
"I'll catch up with you lot later." You wave to your friends as they continue walking to McGonagall's classroom.
"Bunny please tell George that I am your favorite Weasley. He seems to have it in his diluted mind that HE is the favorite and that just cannot be true, can it?" Fred smirks, knowing you would choose him over George any day of the week.
"Hmm, but you aren't." You hold back a smile as Fred's face falls in confusion and George's eyes perk up in interest.
"Yeah, yeah I thought you knew. Scabbers is definitely my favorite Weasley." You say with a smile as you start walking.
Fred's face turns from confusion into full disgust.
"You choose A RAT over ME?? A literal RAT." Fred says sounding appalled, only having to take a few steps until he's beside you, George following suit.
"I don't blame her, he is way less annoying than you" George remarks, a smirk appearing on his face before his brother pushes him into the corridor wall.
"Why do you hurt me so, love?" Fred feigns a frown, clutching his chest as if you've injured him.
"I am sorry darling, how will I ever repay you?" You respond, giggling softly at the boy's overdramatic ways.
"Hmmm, profess your undying love for me and maybe I will forgive you" He spoke with a mischievous grin, dodging your hand barrelling towards him with a laugh.
"In your dreams, Weasley" You retort, rolling your eyes but turning away to hide the blushing smile creeping upon your face.
You, Fred, and George walk to class, lowering your heads as you walk in the classroom trying to be discreet so you don't feel disappointment in Mcgonagals gaze when she sees that you are late as always.
You normally sit with Fred but decided to sit next to Hermione today, you wanted to read the note without Fred questioning what you were doing. You NEEDED to figure out who this mystery person was. It was eating you alive. Fred would just complicate things, he would probably try and read the letter and you did NOT want to explain what was happening. And yes maybe it was because you were secretly hoping it was him, and him seeing the letter and not knowing what it was would ruin that thought for you. So you were keeping it a secret. At least until you figure out who it is.
You kept reading the letters over and over again. You were obsessed at this point. Whoever this was obviously knew you well, they write as if they've known you for a long time. They would add details that you are sure you have only told a few people. They knew your favorite color, flower, and food, they even knew that you preferred to keep your hair long and over your ears because you felt insecure about it. If they weren't so poetic and sweet in their words you would be creeped out but you could tell this person was genuine, just by the way they wrote to you, as if you were someone worth writing for.
The next few days you became distant from everyone around you. You stayed to yourself in class, at the library, in your dorm. You wanted to figure out the letters so you decided the best way to investigate and you needed there to be no distractions. Even though you are an introvert you at least talk to your friends, especially Fred and George. All you could think about though was those stupid letters and who it could possibly be. You ruled out the majority of your friends, as you only have a small group of them.
You begin reading another letter.
"Dear Y/n, I must confess, I've admired you in secret for quite a while now. I've been enchanted by your beauty, intelligence, kindness, and your grace. I am scared you will not look at me the same after finding out who I am. I fear it will affect our connection. I just can't love you in secret anymore. So I have decided to explain how I feel in these letters in the hope you will understand exactly how I feel about you. I am not always great at expressing how I feel out loud so I hope this will make up for it. I admire you for many reasons but here are a few I can point out. I admire the way you carry yourself with such confidence and poise, yet remain humble and kind in your words and actions. Your inner beauty reflects the outer, captivating all who have the privlidge of seeing it. I will reveal myself soon my love. For now, I will continue to send these letters and poems as a reminder that I have loved you before, I will love you now, and I will love you after. With love, your secret admirer."
As you sit by the black lake re-reading the letter in your hands, you are pulled from your thoughts when you hear your name being called in the distance.
"Y/N" You hear, voice loud despite being almost a football field away from you. You know who it is obviously, you could recognize that voice anywhere. George. You slam your book shut, the letter hiding beneath the pages.
As the boy gets closer you wonder what he's doing alone. It's strange to see him without his brother by his side, both walking in sync, talking or laughing about the next prank/invention they are going to whip up. So seeing him walk up alone was very odd.
"Hey bunny, where have you been?" He questions sitting next to you, taking his shoes off making sure not to get dirt on the blanket scrawled out beneath you both. Bunny a nickname given to you by Fred in your first year on the ride to Hogwarts, he told you it's because your eyes and nose reminded him of a bunny and coincidently it is now your patronus.
"Oh you know, just been busy with potions work. Snape has really pilled it on this week, just trying to make sure I stay on track" You say trying not to show the nervousness buried beneath your smile.
"Fred and I could've helped you with that, Snape may be sick of us but we are damn good at potions" He replies with a cocky smirk, not noticing the lie. You're glad Fred isn't here because he would have seen right through you and questioned you until you spilled.
"Did you need something, not that I don't enjoy your company but you came down here with a sort of determination" You laughed softly while speaking, showing your amusement at the ginger's abrupt greeting.
George's face lit up as if he remembered something important and then reached for his pocket.
"Actually yes" He grins while pulling a pink-tinted letter. A letter that looked all too familiar.
Your eyes widened in surprise. What the HELL was George doing with that letter. Your mind raced as you tried to remember if you might've dropped or misplaced one of the letters, but that couldn't be possible since you kept them in your nightstand with an enchanted lock. You tried to hide your horrified expression as you thought just for a second that George was the one who was sending you these letters. Just as you were about to speak he cleared things up.
"I was told to give this to you, urgent matter" He wiggled his eyebrows while handing it to you, a boyish grin on his face the whole time.
You took the letter with hesitation staring at it, then looking back at George dumbfounded.
"Who gave this to you?" You questioned, shaking the letter with your hand.
"You'll just have to read it and find out I guess" He answered, not giving you much before standing up and placing his shoes back on his feet. Not before you see the small grin that he is obviously trying to hide.
You sit there watching him walk away, not knowing what to think you open the letter placed in your hand.
" Dear Y/n, Hello love, I hope you are well on this beautiful day. By the time you read this letter, I will be preparing. I have sent George to find you and give you this letter for a very special reason. If you want to meet me and know who I am, I will be at the astronomy tower tonight waiting for you. Meet me there at 9 o'clock tonight, bring your wand ;) Love, your secret admirer."
He wants to meet, tonight.
You look up to see the sun setting behind the water and realize it is time for dinner.
You immediately get up and flick your wand, effectively clearing your area of the lawn and packing up your things neatly into your bag. You snatch the bag and run to the castle.
You sit down next to Fred, he looks up at you with a smile. You realize you've been ignoring him for the past couple of weeks. You've been so busy with these letters you haven't even been sitting with him at dinner, as you normally always do.
"Oi Bunny, finally decided to sit next to me have you?" Fred says in a fake annoyed tone, not hiding the smile on his face when you look at him with guilt.
"Don't act as if you haven't missed me dearly darling" You speak, falling back into the playful banter you're used to.
"I'm not acting anything, love. I can't believe you left me with the kids, I've had to get a second job to pull the load" He fake sobs putting his face into his hands.
You rub his back laughing "Oh I am so sorry, honey. I'll buy you a new broom to make up for it."
His head shoots up with a smile "All is forgiven, buttercup"
You both laugh as George and Lee look between the two of you with confusion on their faces.
"You lot are so odd," George says laughing.
You enjoy the rest of dinner throwing banter with your friends, soaking in the time spent with them. You didn't realize how much you missed them until now. You wanted to enjoy this before you met your mystery person tonight.
You didn't realize you were staring at Fred the whole dinner until he looked at you and asked if there was something on his face. You responded by tucking your face away as it turned beet red.
"What should I wear? What if this is a prank? What if it's a first year or something?? Oh god, was I too nice to that one Ravenclaw in the great hall last month when he spilled milk on himself and I helped him clean it up???" You rant, pacing back and forth in your dorm.
Your friend who was sitting on the bed in front of you stands up grabbing your shoulders.
"Calm down! Breath!" they say shaking you back and forth, making you look at them.
They push you onto the bed and walk to the closet while talking.
"It is not a prank, you are a catch! I'm surprised you aren't getting letters from every person at Hogwarts by now" They say winking at you cheekily. "It is not a first year, especially not that Ravenclaw bloke" They answer putting clothes on the bed next to you in stacks. "If you want me to be honest I think it's a certain redhead who is always ogling you from afar without you noticing." They look at you waving their eyebrows and smirking.
"Who? Ron???" You ask with a look of disgust.
"No, you can be so daft sometimes you know" They roll their eyes in disappointment. "Fred, of course. Who else looks at you like you hold the stars in your eyes"
"Fred? No way." You put your head down hiding the blush threatening to rise to your cheeks. "He most definitely does not look at me like that. Besides, I think he likes Angelina." You can't help the jealousy raging in your chest as you think about it.
"What? No way! She and George have been going out for weeks now, they follow each other around like lovesick puppies. You've been so busy focusing on these letters you just haven't noticed." They speak knowingly as they pick up an outfit and hold it up for you to try on, pushing it towards you.
You breathe out in relief at the new information, standing up and heading to the bathroom. More of your roommates come into the dorm and help you get ready, excited for you to finally meet the person who has occupied your thoughts for the past few weeks.
Every time you come out of the bathroom you get their opinions and then shoved back in with 20 more items. After an hour, you finally walk out of the bathroom and the room is completely silent. Everyone is in awe just staring at you, mouths open.
"What?? What's wrong?" You hurriedly speak, looking down at yourself and then back at everyone with concern on your face.
Everyones face lights up and they start speaking all at once.
"You look amazing!"
"You're so hot omg!"
"Who is this lucky git who gets to see you like this"
They flood you with compliments, all agreeing this is the outfit you NEED to wear tonight.
Girl outfit ideas 1,2,3.
Guy outfit ideas 1,2,3.
Gn outfit ideas 1,2,3.
(Feel free to imagine any outfit you want these are just some ones I like)
Your friend takes your hand and drags you to the full-length mirror in the middle of the room, a big smile on their face, placing you in front of it and showing you the outfit in all its glory.
"You have to wear this, you look amazing. Anyone would be lucky to see you in this on a date like wow." They say in awe, everyone else in the room sharing their looks and sounds of approval.
They give you some accessories and pull the outfit fully together. You do your hair put some makeup on, look in the mirror, and smile.
Getting ready helped ease your nerves but now that you are ready and you have to wait all of the anxiety is coming back full force. The overwhelming thoughts flood back into your brain.
What If I don't like the person?
Can someone really like me this much?
Should I even go?
Before you could get too lost in your thoughts you heard the clock.
Dingggg, dinggggg, dingggg
You look up and read the time.
Shit I'm going to be late
You take one last look in the mirror and grab your wand before leaving the dorm and sneaking down the stairs.
You sneak around the castle making sure to not run into any prefects or Filch. When you get to the tower door you take a deep breath before continuing up the stairs.
Tumblr media
When you walk into the tower the doorway is lined with candles leading to the middle of the room, as you continue walking you see a blanket with flower petals lying around the beautifully woven cloth. A wicker basket sits in the middle of the blanket, overflowing with bread, pastries, cheese, and jam.
As you are processing the sight before you, footsteps coming from behind you make you freeze.
"I almost thought you wouldn't come" A deep husky voice comes from behind you, giving you goosebumps across your skin.
Fred?
You turn around slowly, your face showing the shock you feel in your bones.
"Y-you?" You stutter releasing a breath you didn't know you were holding.
"Disappointed?" Fred questions, a shy smile on his face but you can hear the nervousness in his voice.
"Is this real? I mean are you being serious?" A mix of questioning and genuine shock bleeding into your words as you speak. You feel as if the room is spinning as you try to grasp the reality of this situation.
"Do you think I would joke about this? Come on Bunny, I know I make jokes and pranks but I'm not a foul git." Fred laughs trying to ease the tension that lingers in the space between you before he continues.
"I have felt this way for a very long time, I just haven't known how to tell you" He walks towards you slowly, and you finally sink back into the moment enough to see the flowers in his hands.
"(Your favorite flower)" You say softly, staring at the beautifully arranged bouquet in his hands. "How did you-"
"In the third year, you had a muggle book of flowers, you left it in the common room one day and when I returned it to you I noticed a particular page that looked more worn than the others. I just figured this was your favorite. Other than that it just suits you. If I were to imagine you as a flower I'd guess this one." Fred looks down and blushes as he realizes he just went on a rant about you as a flower but quickly tries to save his confidence by looking back up and stepping closer to you holding the bouquet out for you to take.
You look into his eyes and then at the flowers before taking them. You were completely and utterly dumbfounded. Never in a million years did you believe this moment would ever happen, but you couldn't be happier.
You smile brightly at Fred. "Thank you, Fred. Genuinely, this is the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me."
"For you anything" He replies, looking down at you with nothing but pure adoration in his eyes.
He offers his hand for you to take and you accept, putting your hand in his. You blush realizing how large his hands actually are. He leads you to the blanket and keeps your hand in his as he helps you sit. He moves to the other side of the blanket, taking two glasses and filling them with wine. He hands one to you and takes a deep breath before speaking again.
"Y/n, I love you. I have loved you since the first year when I saw you at the sorting ceremony. You had big dorky glasses and your face was bright as a tomato, I saw how nervous you were going up in front of everyone but I never understood why. When I saw you I thought you were the most beautiful person I had ever seen, I couldn't understand how someone could be nervous when they had absolutely nothing to hide from. It wasn't just me, I saw how other people looked at you as well. It isn't just your looks that drew me in though, it was that quiet giggle I heard behind me when I accidentally hit Marcus Flint with a dung bomb. It was the most amazing sound I had ever heard in my entire life. That sound is the single reason I continued to prank people. I wanted to hear you laugh any chance I got and eventually, I started enjoying pranking and making jokes because it was fun. I am telling you this because I want you to understand how much you have turned my life upside down Y/n L/n. I understand if you don't feel the same but I couldn't keep this from you any longer. I meant everything I wrote in those letters, I didn't know how to tell you how I felt without ruining our friendship. I wasn't even going to send the letters when I began writing them, I wrote letters for you for over a year before I sent the first one. I saved them in hopes that one day I could send them and finally express how I felt to you. I know this is a lot to process and I am sorry if this is too much for you and if you need time I fully understand." Fred expresses holding your hand and looking into your eyes taking in every expression on your face. At the end, he releases a long breath, and you can see his shoulders relax. You now understand how much this had affected him and how long he has been hiding.
He stares at you waiting for you to speak or even make a sound, when suddenly you smash your lips against his. His eyes widen in surprise and he sinks into the kiss. He grips the back of your head, not roughly but hard enough to keep you in the same position. You grip at his shirt, as your mouths continue to move perfectly in sync. When both of you finally pull away your chest heaves, trying to steady your breathing.
"I feel the same way Fred, you don't even understand how glad I am that it is you" You smile, face flushed at the realization of the bold move you just pulled.
"Well, I'd bloody hope so, or do you just like kissing your friends?" You both laugh, the sound airy and light.
You sit and talk for hours under the starlight. Both sharing smiles and laughs, enjoying each other's company. Fred gives you his jacket when he sees you shiver and you take in the warmth, noticing he put on a new cologne you've never smelt before. You sit, eat, talk, and cuddle until you realize how late it is.
"Oh shit" You shriek, sitting up quickly. "What time is it?" You look back at Fred, still lying on the blanket. His eyes go wide as he checks his watch.
You and Fred clean up the blanket and food and begin walking to the door.
You feel your wrist being tugged and you look behind you.
"Hold on, I know a different way." He grins widely and drags you to the other side of the tower, he pulls out his wand. He gestures his wand at you, telling you to bring yours out.
"Repeat after me, revelio" He asks
Fred holds up three fingers, pointing his wand at the floor and you follow suit. When the last finger goes down you speak in unison.
"Revelio"
Suddenly the floor opens up and a staircase unfolds before your eyes. You stand there shocked, wondering how Fred discovered this mystery passage.
"Lumos" Fred mumbles and light shoots out of his wand, allowing you to see down the stairs. He gestures for you to take his hand and you hesitantly accept.
"Trust me, it's just a passage. I would never put you in harm's way." Fred assures you, turning forward after you nod your head and he begins descending the steps.
You continue hand in hand down the stairs, and when you reach the bottom you realize you are right next to the Gryffindor common room.
"How in the world did you figure this out?" You question astonished. You think back to all of the pranks he has pulled without getting caught and into trouble, it makes you wonder how many of these secret passages he has figured out.
"A good magician never reveals his secrets" Fred smirks and whispers the password to the very tired and annoyed fat lady.
He walks you to your dorm stairs and you both blush and giggle staring at each other.
"I guess this is goodnight" Fred whispers, looking at you as if you hold the sun in your eyes.
"I guess it is" You reply, both of you slowly leaning in.
"Goodnight"
"Goodnight"
You close the space between you and share a sweet and loving kiss.
You pull away first but Fred chases your lips making you giggle into another peck.
"Okay, okay we really need to get to bed" You laugh lightly, trying to be quiet and not make yourselves known to any nosy students.
"You really want to go" He pouts, even though he is joking you can see the hesitation in his eyes. Not wanting this moment to end.
"I'll see you tomorrow" You smile, enjoying watching him yearn for your affection.
"Promise?"
"I promise"

SHE SIGHS, IGNORING THE CONCERNED looks she's quickly receiving from her friends.
"why don't you just tell him how you feel?" george quietly asks, trying to not irritate the girl, following her line of sight to the table where fred is sat with his girl friend sitting beside him.
"george, please. don't start this again." she mumbles, turning to look away from the other twin when he suddenly looks over to her direction.
he sighs, his eyes becoming filled with sympathy. "why not? everyone knows about how you feel. if you tell him how you feel, he'd immediately stop his flirtations with angelina." he murmurs seriously as she rolls her eyes and grumbles under her breath.
"aren't you supposed to be sitting with him anyways? this is where us hufflepuffs sit." she rolls her eyes again as he throws a pointed look at her, knowing that she's only trying to change the subject.
"c'mon, darling. don't lie to me — or try to change the subject. this is me," he states seriously, raising his eyebrows at her as she sighs shakily, beginning to push her food away. "i'm always here for you."
"george... it really doesn't matter — it doesn't matter at all, how i feel about him. don't you see?" she asks him, her voice wavering in emotion as they both glance back at fred and angelina.
tears cloud her eyes as she gulps, trying to ignore the heartache and the sound of the crack in heart, while george watches her in concern — he knows this look too well.
anytime that [y/n] has ever loved or liked someone, she'd always wear that broken look on her face, after pushing them away and hiding her true feelings.
she just couldn't deal with allowing herself to let someone in — the last time she did, she experienced an insane amount of pain and trauma. she couldn't let anyone in again, after that.
but, even as she watches angelina and fred flirt so naturally with each other, not only does her heart split even further, but a part of her yearns to be with him.
more than anything, she wishes she could let go of the worry and fear of getting her heart broken again. but, it's not possible.
"he's happy with her. he doesn't feel that way about me and i can't just ruin that because of my feelings," she states, trying to keep her voice level. "besides, i can't tell him for other obvious reasons."
"merlin, [y/n]. don't do this to yourself — you can't keep punishing yourself." cedric speaks up, already having enough of the self-destructive behavior of his best friend.
"guys, just leave it alone," she inhales deeply as she prepares to lie straight through her teeth. "i've moved on. now it's your turn to do the same."
—————
GEORGE WALKS INTO HIS AND his twin's dorm room, only to notice fred sitting quite tensely on his bed, seemingly stuck in his own mind.
"brother, are you alright?" his brother's voice startles him out of his thoughts as he snaps his head up.
"oi! don't sneak up on me like that!" he yells in a joking tone of voice, immediately making the decision to hide his clear stress with humor — something that he does all too much.
george fixes his twin with a familiar look, as if to say, "seriously?"
fred sighs in defeat, avoiding his brother's worried glance for a moment.
"seriously, fred. what's going on? i've never seen you so upset like this before."
with another sigh, he catches his brother's concerned eyes. "[y/n]'s been acting different lately — i reckon she's been avoiding me."
a knowing look crosses george's face, causing fred to frown in confusion. "brother... what do you know about this?"
even with his undying loyalty to his twin — his best friend in the entire world — he wouldn't dare betray [y/n]'s trust and expose her feelings, even if he wants his brother and his good friend to finally be together and would do just about anything to make it happen.
despite how quiet and reserved [y/n] is, she can be quite scary when someone hurts or angers her. and boy, when she's angry, that is something he'd rather avoid than witness because of his own stupidity.
so, still with the knowing look in his eyes, he half-lies, "nothing. i just noticed that she was quite upset herself earlier at dinner."
hearing this, fred's ears perk up at this.
though, from the way his brother avoids looking him in the eyes, he quickly suspects that he knows more than he's letting on.
"georgie, what are you not telling me?" he questions, slightly louder than intended, as his brother simply shrugs, a small smirk placed on his lips.
with clear frustration, fred ignores his brother's weird behavior, going to grab his jumper. throwing it on, he quickly walks past his brother to the door of their dorm.
"what are you going to do?" he questions, worrying that a confrontation might make things worse for [y/n].
with that same tense look on his face, which quickly changes into one of determination, fred turns to face his brother, only for a moment. "i'm going to find out what's going on and i'm going to fix it."
and with that, he pulls the door open and rushes off down the stairs, not giving george a chance to respond to him, or to even stop him.
—————
THERE'D BEEN A PARTY IN the gryffindor's common room — george and fred had been lucky to not have joined the party, this time.
athough, lee had been the one to start it, not without putting a spell on the room to keep the loud talking and music from being heard outside of the room.
cedric had dragged [y/n] along with him and cho chang. but, no matter how many times her best friend tried to cheer her up, it was no use.
she couldn't stop thinking about fred and her feelings — and god knows whatever's going on between him and angelina.
though, someone appearing in front of her shakes her out of her miserable train of thoughts.
"[y/n]! how are you?" angelina asks, that familiar sweet and kind smile placed on her face.
despite her hurt feelings over fred and her refusal to admit anything, she knows that she hates the girl stood in front of her.
not only because of the fact that she's her friend, but because of the fact that angelina is perfect. and more importantly to [y/n], she's perfect for fred.
fred — someone she's cared for and loved for such a long time. despite how much she cares for him and how hurt she is by the aching pain in her heart, she couldn't ever be selfish for her own desires — more than anything, she wants him to be happy.
so, with a forced smile and the action of blinking away her tears, she answers her, "i'm fine! why? do i not seem okay?" she questions her cautiously and worriedly, scared that she's not as good of an actor as she thought.
"oh, no! i just mean fred and i haven't see you in a while and we've both been quite concerned for you." she explains, the worry and kindness very evident in her eyes.
at the very mention of the boy she loves, [y/n]'s facial expression falters. "o—oh... " she trails off, taking notice of the way angelina described herself and fred. was there truly something else going on between them — possibly something much more than she'd initially suspected?
both cho and cedric wear both awkward and sympathetic looks, knowing how uncomfortable the conversation is for their friend. though, she doesn't admit it.
after all, she wants her two friends to be happy, even if it means it won't be her being with one of those said friends.
quickly masking the pain that she feels into an expression of fake happiness, [y/n] turns to cedric and his girlfriend. "why don't you guys go on and enjoy the party? i'll be fine."
cedric, remaining the ever-so-loyal-friend, hesitates, while cho decides to pull him away from the two girls, having faith in [y/n]'s strength of character.
"are you sure?" he asks, continuing to hesitate as his girlfriend tries to pull him away.
[y/n] rolls her eyes and lightly shoves him towards his girlfriend, making sure to not push him too hard into her. "just go."
a few seconds later, cho successfully leads her boyfriend across the room to talk to harry, ron, and hermione, who are across the room. though, they're also watching [y/n] very carefully.
as she turns to face her friend stood in front of her, angelina watches her closely, trying to understand what she's feeling. though, she doesn't get a single hint, aside from the glee on her face — obviously this is fake, only to keep her friend from worrying or understanding the true feelings behind her pain.
though, most of the majority of the people at hogwarts know of her feelings towards fred, angelina is among some of the few people that don't know about it — she's too clueless for her own good.
"[y/n]... are you sure everything's alright? you seem... different."
as she goes to open her mouth, surely to give her some bullshit excuse of being fine, something behind her friend catches her attention.
a flash of firey-red hair makes her stop. she gapes as his slightly upset gaze finds her equally just as hurt eyes.
her eyes meet cedric's from across the room in panic, before she glances back at fred, only to notice george now appearing from behind him.
"[y/n]? what's going on?" angelina asks, though [y/n] only hears it as a faraway, muffled voice, before she's able to acknowledge it.
as her panicked eyes find george's, she notices his own worried glance, before looking back at angelina. "i... " she gulps, her throat quickly becoming extremely dry.
"i—i have to go... i'm suddenly feeling terribly sick to my stomach." she lets out in a wavering tone of voice and rushes out of the room, cedric quickly leaving with cho following him, after [y/n].
fred misses them, just as he begins to step forward.
—————
CEDRIC AND CHO FIND HER sitting on a pair of vacant stairs, holding her knees to her chest with her head hiding over them. tears are streaming down her cheeks — the emotions she's been desperately trying to avoid and hide and bottle up, have finally come exploding out.
she heaves in embarrassingly long breaths as both of her friends sit by her on both sides of her.
cedric places a hand over her shoulder, easily pulling his best friend into his chest to hold her as she cries once more, while cho holds one of her hands and squeezes it to comfort her.
"i... i'm so fucking stupid. how did i think i could get through any of this without going mad? and even more than that, it hurts to see them together... "
cedric's eyebrows knit together in an upset manor as he and cho share the same look. "you're not stupid, [y/n]. hardly. if anything, that bloke of a weasley is the one who's an idiot, not you," he murmurs as cho nods in agreement.
"sweetheart, anyone would be mental to not want to be with you. you're better than half the girls that are constantly throwing themselves at him." cho states seriously, which causes [y/n] to let out a choked laugh.
"not better than angelina, though. right?" she sniffles, more tears filling her eyes at the mere thought of her friend and fred getting together and having to see that every day.
"don't think like that." cedric murmurs, immediately tightening his hold on the girl when he notices two red-haired boys making their way near the stairs.
"what do you want, weasley? can't you see she's upset?" cedric exclaims, though not too loud to alert any adults walking around the castle, growing protective over his friend, hating how much pain he's causing her.
don't get me wrong, cedric likes fred — he approves of fred and he thinks he and [y/n] are perfect for each other.
but, in the moment, he would rather keep the weasley boy away, if it would make his best friend's pain lessen.
though, deep down, he knows that it isn't fred's fault. he doesn't know the truth — he's just as oblivious as angelina.
although [y/n] doesn't look up for a second, she knows she has to talk to fred eventually.
so, with a deep breath, she lifts her head up, looking up at the tall weasley twin as she quickly wipes away the remaining tears on her cheeks.
"it's okay, ced. it's not his fault." she croaks out, her throat completely dry and sore from crying so hard.
"are you sure, sweetheart? you don't have to talk to him if you don't want to." cedric states seriously, rubbing his hand up and down one of her arms to further comfort her.
fred catches both the touch and the pet-name and something in him snaps; his jaw clenches and his eyes are lit with both irritation and jealousy. "mate, i'm sure she can speak for herself."
cedric snaps his head in fred's direction, his protective instincts kicking in. "i—"
before he can snap back at fred's angrily-hissed response, both cho and [y/n] abruptly stand up.
"enough!" [y/n] whispers in frustration as cho goes to walk over to her boyfriend, lacing their fingers together and gripping one of his arms gently, in order to keep him from getting into an unnecessary fight with his best friend's best friend.
both fred and cedric's angry looks falter and turn into ones of shock and bewilderment.
cedric quickly calms down as his girlfriend's physical touch eases his anger towards fred, while fred's eyes soften at the obvious pain in [y/n]'s eyes, even as she tries to stay strong in the moment.
despite how much she's been crying about angelina and fred, she steps forward, keeping a strong expression on her face and keeping a safe distance between her and fred.
"both of you enough with the yelling! you're both going to get us in trouble if you keep yelling like that." she whisper-yells before she turns away from fred to face cedric and cho.
"cedric, i appreciate how much you're worried and want to protect me, but i don't need protecting from fred — i can take care of myself," she states.
then, she turns to face fred, who smirks at cedric in response to him getting shut down. "yeah, mate. walk away." he says cockily, still under the impression that there's something between him and [y/n], causing him to be in this reckless state of mind.
this causes cedric's eyes to spark with irritation as he attempts to walk over to him in anger.
though, cho holds him back, murmuring to him to calm down.
"cedric, stop! he's trying to get a rise out of you." she states, becoming slightly angry at the behavior that the two boys are displaying.
"cho, would you please get him out of here? i'm fine, i promise." [y/n] reassures the girl stood beside her boyfriend, who nods in agreement.
"and you! stop being an arse! bloody hell! i don't know where the merlin you're getting this attitude from, but don't take it out on cedric, when he's only trying to be there for me and support me!" she exclaims quietly at fred as cho and cedric begin to walk past them.
though, as they pass fred, cedric stops to mutter something to him in a voice of utter protective instincts for his best friend in the entire world, "don't hurt her or you'll live to regret it!"
fred laughs cockily, once more. "i'd like to see that happen!"
with an annoyed sigh, [y/n] turns to face fred, glaring at him.
cedric, wanting to not to piss off her more than he already has, decides to simply glare at fred, before following cho down the hall and back to the gryffindor's common room.
george steps forward, shoving fred forward a bit, before nodding to the direction that both cho and cedric went off in. "i'm going to leave you kids to yourselves," he states as [y/n] nods gratefully, before he leans in to his brother's ear and whispers, "don't screw this up, brother!"
then, he's off, walking down the hall.
once it's just the two of them, fred clears his throat. he gives her that signature charming smirk of his.
though, she rolls her eyes at him — she's obviously still quite angry with him for his behavior.
"you know, i don't really appreciate you treating cedric like that. he was being protective — he didn't deserve that," she states in a strained voice, trying to ignore the part of her that wants to fall for his tricks and charms. "and i don't appreciate the way you were acting! what in the hell is going on with you?"
fred only rolls his eyes in response. "i was quite wondering the same thing about you, sweetheart," he states, ignoring the angry look in her eyes when he steps forward. "why've you been shutting me out, love? is it because of... diggory?"
"seriously? are you mad? you're not going to even acknowledge how terrible you were just acting towards one of my best friends? instead, you're questioning me with cedric — for what exactly?"
"do you have feelings for him or something? because if you do, i'd rather you just tell me, instead of leaving me confused!" he exclaims, almost angrily as he tosses his hands up in the air in frustration.
"merlin! fred, what in the bloody hell makes you think i have feelings for him? he's my friend — and only that! and last time i checked cho's his girlfriend, aka, my friend!" she groans, so unbelievably aghast that he'd think that about her.
"and if you really think that, then you haven't been paying attention!" she whisper-yells, much more angrily than before.
this, however, only frustrates the weasley boy even more. "what does that mean?" he questions, stepping closer to her, causing her to only step away from him.
after noticing this, it's just another thing about her that aggravates him. "and why do you keep putting this... bloody distance between us?"
she only stares at him in utter anger and confusion. how could he have not seen it, this entire time?
don't get her wrong, she knew that if she was hiding it all very discreetly, then it would all make sense.
but, that's just it.
she hadn't been discreet about it — at all.
even the golden trio know about her feelings for fred and they aren't even that close to her at all. george too!
that just proves how idiotic fred has been this entire time.
because even though she'd tried so hard to hide it, it was all too incredibly obvious of how she feels towards the firey, red-headed twin.
he rolls his eyes at her silence. "well, then? go on! pray tell, what have i not been paying attention to?" he questions in a tense voice.
despite being absolutely obsessed with the girl stood in front of him, he can't help but always feel so frustrated with her at times — times like this, to be honest.
she can be incredibly infuriating at times — much like how he's so infuriating to her.
"you know what!" she whisper-yells, not wanting to admit it quite yet, this time not backing away as he steps closer to her to hiss at her, "i apparently bloody don't!"
tears start to blur her vision at the thought of this entire conversation. why couldn't anything just be easy for her, for once?
her breath comes out shaky, fanning his face — that's how close they are to each other now — as that negative voice in her head starts to yell terrible things at her.
she's fighting internally on whether to tell him the truth or not.
if she tells him the truth, it could very well ruin everything — their friendship, the way he sees her, the relationship she has with his family, all of it.
but, she could also easily make up some lie — some bullshit excuse — that she's just too busy with homework and her classes to hang out with him and that she missed him terribly.
she decides on the latter.
"nothing, fred." she gulps, creating some energy to create some more space between them as she turns away from him.
"i've just been busy with some homework and classes have been overbearing — that's what i felt that you hadn't noticed before. i came to the party to see you — i miss you. 's all." she mutters anxiously, hoping he believes her.
although her excuse seems like it'd make perfect sense, fred doesn't buy it for even one moment.
"[y/l/n], you cannot honestly expect me to believe that for even one single moment. what's really going on?" he questions, a bit softer than before.
hearing him call her by her last name shocks her for a mere moment — he only ever uses her last name to address her when he's being incredibly serious.
as she masks her face into one of stoicness, she turns back to face him. "nothing, freddie. everything's fine."
even though he's just begun to get calmer towards her, he once again becomes completely irritated with her, once more, over the fact that she just lied to him.
"don't lie to me, [y/l/n]!" he exclaims in a small whisper.
her facial expression stays the same, hoping that he'll just eventually leave it alone. but, she knows better than that.
"i know something's bothering you! if it was simply just homework, you'd have told me immediately that that's why you haven't been around. it's more than that, isn't it?"
she throws her hands up in mere irritation. "why does it matter? you're happy with angelina, aren't you?"
fred's eyebrows furrow together in confusion. what did she have to do with this?
"why are you bringing her up? what does that have to do with the fact that you've been avoiding me?" he questions her, becoming much more confused when her eyes fill up with tears, once again.
"merlin, fred... you don't get it!" she exclaims, this time not bothering to care about getting caught anymore.
getting caught by one of the professors and getting in trouble with them would surely be a lot better than having this conversation with a very daft fred weasley.
but, as she turns away, finally deciding that leaving might just be better than being forced to have this very uncomfortable conversation, it's as if everything clicks into place.
fred's brown eyes widen as a light goes off in his head. the realization is too big to spare her of the embarrassment she might feel.
"do you love me?" he suddenly asks, his voice filled with uncertainty.
he couldn't be sure if he was right. but, at this point, he couldn't think of another reason why she'd bring up angelina. or why she'd be avoiding him so much.
he realizes now that it's obvious that this whole time she's been hiding something from him. and he knows now that it isn't because she's hiding something normal that she's going through — she always tells him everything, no matter how embarrassing or humiliating it is.
so, really, the only thing that he can come up with is that she'd be hiding from him is something as complicated as hiding romantic feelings for him.
but, he also feels that that's quite a ridiculous answer to all of his questions.
because... how could someone as extraordinary and beautiful and kind and smart as [y/n] ever care about someone like him in that way?
but, when she suddenly freezes in place, those words making her blood run cold, he knows now that it must be true.
"that's it. isn't it?" he questions once more, waiting for her to face him.
but, she doesn't. she'd rather die or get caught far away from her dorm room by one of the professors, than to have to admit the truth.
"that's why you've been avoiding me and angelina so bloody much!" he exclaims, as if he's finally figured it out.
now that he knows the truth and he's allowed himself to accept it, he swears he feels the feeling of butterflies swarming around his guts.
though, he doesn't get to try to calm himself when he notices the broken expression on [y/n]'s face when she finally turns around to face him.
her cheeks are tear-stained and her eyebrows are pinched together in both frustration and anger.
"say something." he begs when she stays silent.
a shaky breath leaves her lips as she glances away. more tears fill her eyes and they quickly spill down to her cheeks before she can stop them. "it doesn't matter... " she shakily trails off, gulping down her pride.
she could still be her stubborn self and refuse to admit the truth. she could even gaslight and manipulate him into thinking he's crazy, to avoid the truth — just like what has been done to her so many times.
but, for one, she refuses to be the person that doesn't break the cycle or the type of person that becomes the problem. and two? even if she could do to someone of what was done to her, she could never, ever do that to fred — the boy she's so incredibly in love with.
and how could she lie when it's already out in the open? deep down, she knew that this was all going to come out and be revealed eventually.
"why's that?" he asks, voice deep and raspy, hoping to get an answer out of her.
she sniffles, shaking her head. "fred, don't... don't make this more uncomfortable than it has to be. i've ruined everything already," she says, voice wavering and trying whatever she can do to keep her emotions in control. "not after what i've just done."
even though fred can be the most clueless, daft boy at hogwarts, even he can sense the guilt radiating off of her. "love..."
before he can try to comfort her, she holds a hand up at him. "no... don't. please... please, don't tell me that this isn't my fault. because it is. i should've just kept my mouth shut. i couldn't just let you and angelina be happy."
he knits his eyebrows together in confusion. "[y/n], what are you talking about? how is this your fault?"
a small cry leaves her lips as she lifts up her hands in the air in frustration. "i never wanted this!" she exclaims, wiping away the tears off of her face.
his eyebrows raise in shock and he jumps a little at her mini outburst.
"i never wanted to fall in love again, okay? every time i've let someone in because i thought maybe, just maybe, things would be different, it's all ended the same — i've just repeated the cycle of heartache and emotional pain over and over again," she starts, trying to ignore the hurt look that's on his face. "i just wanted to push everyone away and never get into a relationship again. but then, i met you."
fred's quiet as he listens to her and does his best to ignore the anguish in her voice.
"it hurt too much to ever think about going back to that pain again — of getting hurt again, or letting someone in and giving them the key to my heart. i couldn't think about doing that without getting sick to my stomach." more tears fill to her eyes, but she pushes through it, knowing that she needs to get this all out, so that he really understands.
i mean, of course he knows. how could he not? he's her actual best friend. but, that doesn't mean that he doesn't really know to the full extent.
"but... even when i've known that falling in love again was wrong for me, i couldn't help it. something about you has always drawn me in and... " she trails off, more tears falling as she shrugs, "i—i don't know. i just can't explain it."
he steps forward, needing to say something to her — anything.
"no, please. don't say anything yet, freddie," he stops short, his heart breaking into a million pieces when he notices the broken look in her eyes. "i know i've ruined everything, okay? i know that. but, i just can't stand the thought of you hating me without understanding why..."
she turns away from him after this, too scared of his reaction.
"love..." fred trails off, suddenly in front of her as he lifts her chin up.
[y/n] is startled when she notices the soft and gentle look in his eyes — not a single negative emotion on his face or in his eyes.
"w—what are you doing?" she asks, confused and extremely emotional.
"proving to you that you can have the happy ending and you deserve it." he murmurs, only confusing her more.
he wipes away the tears on her face as he tucks in a stray hair behind her ear. that lovesick look on his face doesn't disappear as he cups her face in his hands.
"i know it's scary, but we can take this one step at a time. i love you and i'm willing to wait for you." he states, startling her once more.
"w—what?" she stutters, eyes widening.
"it's true — i love you, too."
"you... you promise?" she asks nervously, her heart beating faster than ever.
she gulps when he nods. a small smile takes over her lips as she leans her forehead over his, closing her eyes and taking in the moment.
"okay. let's take it slow then."

i’ve seen relationship therapists and psychologists analyse hermione and ron’s relationship and conclude that they wouldn’t work out in the long run. they’ve argued for hermione to be with harry, krum, even DRACO (don’t understand how a counsellor can vow for canon dramione but alright) as an alternative partner for hermione since ron is “too insecure” to be with her and match her intelligent prowess or what have you.
i seriously don’t understand this sentiment. ron and hermione genuinely seem (almost) perfect to me, maybe not in the movies (a common denominator of people who don’t like romione is that they always cite evidence from the movies, since the films took a lot away from ron’s character and his growth), but definitely in the books.
looking at ron’s insecurities, a lot of people dredge his inferiority complex up to toxic masculinity primarily, when it was more explored how it was an effect of his home life (not gonna argue toxic masculinity wasn’t a factor, they’re teenagers in the 90s written by a pretty misogynistic woman so…). he was the youngest son out of how many children? all of his older brothers were brilliant in some way. bill was an extremely gifted spellcaster, charlie was gifted with magical beasts, percy’s academic score was unmatched, and fred and george (despite their trouble) were entrepreneurial inventor-geniuses. ron, on the other hand, was quite literally born a disappointment to his mother, who conceived him specifically because she wanted a daughter, whilst ginny was born her favourite (though, even then, ginny was gifted at quidditch). ron was mediocre in every sense of the word, and his two best friends were harry (one of the most famous wizards) and hermione (the smartest witch of her age yada yada). and i’ve seen people argue that harry was more welcomed by molly into the weasley household than ron ever was. this isn’t even mentioning the amount of bullshit he copped for being poor (people always downplay the blow to confidence being in poverty can have on a person who is constantly surrounded by people who not only have more, but look down on him for simply being unlucky as to not have what they do).
so yeah, ron was an envious kid, but he was that way not because he was an evil patriarchal conception but because he was lowkey neglected. and even then he was overall an extremely devoted and loyal friend to both harry and hermione, because he did genuinely love them.
there were many moments of ron standing up for hermione that was cut from the films, not as a guy who was romantically interested in her, but as a friend. ron arguing with snape for making hermione cry is one of my fav scenes in the books ru kidding me, and in the movies he AGREED with snape RU KIDDING ME. not to mention how ron was a sobbing violent mess when hermione was getting tortured in the last book, whereas he wasn’t nearly as bothered in the films. and the films cut out harry being a dick to ron about his familial concerns (in dh), so when ron left it seemed like a random dickish move over his jealousy towards harry and hermione’s relationship.
there’s also a million moments where they minimised ron’s usefulness in the books for comedic purposes (forbidden forest with aragog, troll scene, devils snare scene) so ron seems dumber than he is. like, he’s actually smart and a really good spellcaster…. in the books.
so simply by stating this most of the arguments against romione become void. “he’s too stupid/weak for her” simply not true. “he’s a terrible friend who doesn’t stand up for her” also not true. “he’s too insecure to have made a move on her,” yes, but given the context i don’t think people would freak on about ron’s upbringing, i think many would be more understanding, especially considering his growth. even if he wasn’t insecure, hermione is beyond incredible and is bound to make anyone nervous when pursuing her (not an excuse for ron to act like a dick, but it does explain a lot where the movies don’t). “they argue too much” they bump heads, none of the arguments they have are actually super damning, with the exception of ron leaving in deathly hallows.
maybe i’ve covered everything (excluding the abhorrent amount of classism that clouds people’s judgments around how they view ron when harping about how hermione deserves better? hopefully).
now, i know people won’t like me mentioning the cursed child, but i’m going to considering we actually get an insight of their life as a longterm married couple there. a lot of ron stans hated how ron was the only character that wasn’t doing something incredible. harry was head of the aurors, ginny was a famous quidditch player retired to a famous journalist, neville was a hogwarts professor, hermione was quite literally minister on magic. and ron…. ran the joke shop with george.
and i think this was almost the perfect route to go down for ron. because he was average, and was perfectly fine with just being average. hello?? that speaks leagues of growth for his character. he’s supportive of hermione’s work, he grounds her when she gets too caught up in being the literal president of wizarding society, and he still viciously defends her, minister or not. in fact, he’s proud to simply be known as hermione’s husband because he doesn’t feel the need to prove to anyone else his worth. the people he loves most know his worth, hermione never downplays or underestimates him, they are complete equals in the relationship in every single way that matters. they kept ron’s best qualities whilst making him seem more of a healed person. they work so well as a married couple without it seeming like mischaracterisation (not to mention the cursed child literally shows how those two are in love in every reality, so there quite literally can’t be a better partner for hermione or ron according to canon).
so i really don’t understand how professional relationship counsellors can go online and denounce it. probs because they only watched the movies, but it’s 2023 and ron stans should not STILL be fighting for their lives trying to defend him from people who simply don’t consume media with as much depth (which is fine, but one should clarify if they’re talking about the movies because i’ve seen people state they’re talking about the hp BOOKS when it’s simply just…. the films). anyways. romione on top, thanks to coming to my ted talk.

Forget Me Not (3)

[Chapter 3]
Pairing: Fred Weasley x reader
Word count: 2150
Warning: angst, fluff
an: the loooong awaited part 3! Sorry it took me so long, life got in the way and I was a little lost in my writers brain but i'm baaaack and it's gonna get juicier and better :)))))
Your body jolted, seemingly flinching at the action of Fred slamming his fist down on the table. You know he didn’t mean it on purpose, you knew this whole ordeal was harder on him than it was on any of you, but you couldn’t help feeling a little selfish at the fact that he still couldn’t remember anything significant about you.
After the intimate moment you had with him on the couch, holding him on your chest like you used to, tracing your fingers in his hair to help soothe him and calm him down that day, you thought that maybe he would start remembering. Maybe having a moment so similar to one you’ve had time and time again would trigger something in his brain.
However it seemed like the more time he spent with you the more frustrated he got. He got a headache everytime you were near him, every time you tried talking with him or tried to reminisce with George about the fun you guys had while at school. Fred could remember the exact scenario, remember everything he did and even George’s responses, but he couldn’t see you in any memory.
He said it was like there was a blurry figure when he tried to picture it, and then his chest started to feel tight and his head started to pound. You could tell when it started to happen. He would close his eyes, pinch the bridge of his nose and sigh deeply. Then he would slam his hand or fist down on the table, push his seat back harshly and leave the room.
It always left you feeling terrible. Terrible because you didn’t know how to help him. Terrible because you were the one causing him pain. Not on purpose, but it was clearly memories of you that were making him have these physical reactions. You wanted to comfort him, wanted to take him out into the garden like you’ve done hundreds of times and sit on the bench together, talking about everything frustrating and letting each other vent, it was your special spot. But you couldn’t. It would only cause things to get worse.
So when you heard Fred and George talking and your name get slipped into the conversation, you sat on the stairs, mouth covered by the sleeve of your jumper to help conceal your presence.
“I just don’t understand it, Georgie,” you heard the strain in Fred’s voice and you could feel your heart breaking. “Why can’t I remember her? Everyone keeps telling me how important she was to me. Merlin, she was apparently my bloody girlfriend! And if that’s true why hasn’t she told me that?”
You could hear George let out a sigh, “She is your girlfriend, Freddie, and you love her. So much, or at least you did. And she doesn’t want to make you feel like you have to be with her if you don’t remember.”
Tears brimmed your eyes, what George said holding truth. You were so desperately in love with Fred, but you were not going to force his hand if he couldn’t remember the love he had for you or all the times and intimate moments you shared together.
“It’s just, fucking bloody hell,” Fred slammed his fist against the table again, “Why does it physically fucking hurt when I think about her? Were we bad together Georgie? Was I terrible to her? Please tell me I wasn’t awful to her…she’s been so kind to me, even though I can’t remember a thing about her.
“She’s made me lunches, gotten me tea in the mornings, she even knows which jumpers are my favorite. What if I can’t remember anything about her because I was so terrible to her and I’m like, protecting myself from myself or something like that?” You could hear the wobble in Fred’s voice and you couldn’t stop the tears from silently falling down your cheeks.
“No, Freddie. No, no, you were amazing to her, so bloody good to her, and her you. Merlin you two had everything anyone would want, could almost finish each other’s sentences as well and me and you can. Honestly, Fred, you were talking about marrying her after the war was over…”
You bit the thick of your sleeve, trying to conceal the gasping sob that was threatening to escape as you listened to the plans you had no idea were being made. Fred was planning to ask you to marry him…and now he could barely remember anything about you, let alone the relationship you had built together.
You decided you’d heard enough, had hurt yourself enough eavesdropping, and tip-toed quietly to bed. You opened the door to Fred and George’s room as quietly as you could, hoping the sound of their own voices and the height you were at in the burrow was enough to conceal any creak the hinges might make.
When you closed the door, you finally allowed yourself to cry, collapsing onto Fred’s bed. He had been sleeping on the couch lately and you had taken home in his room in his place. You pulled back the quilt, sliding underneath before pulling it back up to your chin. You buried your face into his pillow, it still smelled like him; vanilla and cinnamon.
You must have fallen asleep while crying because the next thing you knew, the sun was peeking out from the curtains on the window. You stretched your arms out in front of you when you noticed something heavy slung around your waist. Your eyes shot open, seeing George completely zonked out in the bed across from you, meaning, “Freddie.”
His name came out in almost a silent whisper. His grip on your waist tightened, pulling your back impossibly closer to his chest. One of his long legs was slotted between yours, entangling your lower limbs as he subconsciously buried his face in the crook of your neck.
You’d be lying if you said you didn’t miss waking up like this, but it had been a while since you had done so and you were not about to move yet. You closed your eyes again, relishing in the feeling of Fred against you in a way that felt so much like home. His broad shoulders and larger figure meant that he essentially engulfed you in a heated cocoon of his body and you loved every second of it.
When you heard George stirring across from you, you allowed yourself to open your eyes again. He was sitting up on the edge of his bed, hands resting on the bed beside his legs while the largest smirk was plastered on his freckled face, “Well, well, ducky. Don’t you two look cozy.”
You held up your middle finger, whisper shouting at the twin across from you, “Sod off, will ya? I just don’t want to wake him yet, he seems to actually be sleeping peacefully for once.” George held up his hands in defense, “You’re gonna have to wake him soon, I can smell mum making breakfast and she’s probably wondering where he is anyway.”
You sighed, slowly turning around in Fred’s hold as George left the room. When you finally managed to face him, Fred buried his head into your chest and pulled you closer, grabbing hold of the back of your knee and pulling it over his hip. You gasped slightly at the action, but didn’t make a move to pull away.
Light scratches to his scalp and the sound of your voice are what eventually pull Fred from his slumber. “Freddie, you’ve got to get up. Your mum’s making breakfast.” He groans, too comfortable in his current position to want to move, but he eventually pulls away from you, albeit very slowly.
You expected him to shoot away from you once he noticed his position but instead he just leaned back slightly so he could properly look you in the eyes. His hand was at the curve of your lower back, your leg still hooked over his hip, “Good morning.” He greeted you with a voice thick of sleep and you swore you could melt on the spot.
Realizing he was fully awake and speaking you went to move your leg off of him, but his hand shoots to your thigh, stopping your actions, “P-please don’t move yet, I haven’t been this comfortable since I’ve gotten home.”
He looked at you with shy eyes as you cupped his face with your hand, thumb tracing the apple of cheek, “Okay, Freddie.” He closed his eyes at your touch and you couldn’t help but trace the scar that was now prominent above his brow. The scar that represented the spell that took your Fred away from you, that erased you from his memory and left you and Fred in an emotional purgatory.
You let yourself get lost in comfortability, lost in your emotions as you placed a gentle kiss to his forehead, right next to his scar. When you pulled back, his eyes fluttered open to meet yours. There was a silence between you, not uncomfortable but you could feel it getting thick. Fred’s eyes fell to your lips, then slowly trailed back up to meet your eyes.
You stared at each other, not sure if he was going to make the move you were so desperate for. Your faces were so close, his lips right there. He cupped your cheek, the pad of his thumb tracing your lower lip, dragging downwards slightly. Your breath hitches in your throat as you notice him leaning towards you. Your impatience got the best of you and you finished closing the gap between you, slotting your lips with a passion you had missed for months.
You weren’t sure if it was muscle memory, or if even in his forgetful state Fred was just as physically attracted to you but as soon as your lips met, it was like he couldn’t get your bodies close enough, his hand squeezing at the flesh of your thigh pulling you to straddle his lap as he turned to his back.
His other had found the back of your neck, holding your body flush to his as your hands found ground on the mattress on either side of his head. It had been so long since you kissed your boyfriend that it felt like a first kiss, your stomach in swirling butterflies, heart pounding against your chest.
Your lungs were burning but you didn’t want to pull away, the softness of his lips seemingly curing any emotional ailment you had been feeling the night before. When you finally pull away a slight whimper leaves Fred’s mouth, his hands settling on your hips as you sit on his lap.
“We’ve done that before, haven’t we?” Fred asks cheekily. You rake your teeth along your bottom lip, trying to suppress your smile, “Yes, Freddie. We’ve done that many times before.”
His hands ran idly up and down your thighs, “Well I think we should do it again, might jog my memory, yannow?”
You perked up a little, “Do you remember something, Freddie?” He shrugged his shoulders, “I remember that I really like kissing you, like love kissing you.” He laughed lightly, blocking your hand as you went to slap his chest, “C’mon, your mum’s making breakfast and we need to get down there. Any longer and she might think we’re doing dirty things.”
Fred wiggled his eyebrows, “Well we have done dirty things before, too, haven’t we?” This time you were successful in slapping his chest as you climbed off his lap. You smoothed out your pajamas and jumper as you answered him, “Yes, Freddie…we have done other things before. We’ve been…erm…were together for a long time.”
Fred frowned slightly at your correction, “We’re still together, as far as I know I never broke up with you.”
You shifted your weight on your feet, “Yeah, but you don’t exactly remember asking me out either.” Fred stood then, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you close, “Well maybe you can tell me all about it after breakfast, yeah?”
You opened your mouth to respond before jumping slightly at the sound of a ‘pop’ and George appearing in the room. “Seems like every time I see you two you get cozier and cozier.”
This time it was Fred who gave his brother the finger, “Don’t be jealous that you’re alone Georgie.” You had to cover your mouth to conceal your laughter, your heart soaring at your old Fred showing his joking nature.
George waved him off, opening the bedroom door and walking downstairs. Fred grabbed your hand as he followed his twin, “C’mon, love. After breakfast we’ll go sit by the garden and you can tell me all about us, yeah? Garden seems like a beautiful and peaceful place to talk, it can be like our special spot.”
Your heart was soaring, “Yeah, Freddie, our special spot.”

so, i was listening to lover by taylor swift and that made me create a fictional scenario in my head (again) well the part where taylor says "And you'll save all your dirtiest jokes for me" reminds me of george weasley 😭 😭😭 (I'm still in love with him 🤧)
I would be very excited if you wrote a one shot where the reader is a friend of hermaione and they spend all their time together with harry and ron. At one point fred notices this and befriends the reader (let's assume george was not there when fred approached the reader)
In short, the reader is someone quite funny and has a really charming laugh. At a time before one of snape's classes begins. Harry Ron and Mione next to the reader burst out laughing and as almost everyone was silent some turned to the group responsible for such a "rumble" the twins looked attentive and one of them (cofcofgeorgecofcof) was perplexed to see someone as cute and adorable as the reader will laugh like this, ""the most beautiful laugh you've ever heard""
As the days go by, George gets Fred to include him in a conversation with the reader to get to know each other more.
George and the reader become good friends and whenever George has the chance to be around the reader he doesn't miss it.
The reader is the type of person who also listens to everything the other says (and since the reader had a secret crush on georgie he was comfortable hearing him tell any bad joke or funny anecdote.)
Once in the great hall at howarts george and the reader were talking animatedly. Fred noticed how the reader smiled more and more every time George spoke to him and he also saw how her brother looked at her as if she were seeing the most beautiful thing in the world.
Anyway, at the Christmas ball, George stumbles over her words when he wants to invite the reader, which she ends up accepting.
They dance together, have fun and have their romantic moment when at that moment Fred enters throwing hints at her brother and her friend to confess her feelings.
When the party ends. On the way to the rooms. The reader and geoge end up confessing in a somewhat embarrassing way stumbling over their own words as well. (I love these cheesy 😭💗💗)
And the reader steals a kiss on the lips from George before going to sleep. Leaving georgie with a face the color of a tomato.
I would like the reader to be female if it is not so much to ask hehe.
I'm sorry if he is too dense to read, I hope you can understand what I wrote, my native language is not English and I'm literally translating this, I'm so sorry 😭😭
At first I was embarrassed to request this because of how corny it is but OH GOD HOW I LOVE THE FRIENDS TO LOVERS TROPE 😭😭😭😭😭😭
P.S. I love how you write, it's very beautiful 💓
s m i l e s
fandom- Harry Potter
pairing(s)- george weasley
a/n: tysm for requesting this with so much detail, im gonna attempt it to do it justice and thank you for taking the trouble to write this all out for me
p.s i love you and this literally has me giggling and smiling
requested- yes
warnings- none i hope
Fred Weasley was a trouble maker. He was a see it and do it kind of learner. His sense of eyesight has never failed him and it never will. So what he saw infront of his eyes must be true, dear Georgie was falling in love.
You were maybe two years younger than the Weasley twins when Fred came running behind you to return your quill you forgot in the great hall. This caused a freindship to blossom and set the path of when the both of you would be in laws.
Hermione Granger had spent all day teasing about the wrong twin who's going to fall head over heels for you.
the five times Fred Weasley took notice of Georgie falling in love:
(1) shared portion class-
There were many things you couldnt do that would get you in trouble in potions with snape. But the one that lost you 10 points from your house was your laugh.
Last period on a hot friday evening was potions, but not just any class but the infamous joined classes with your senior year used to finish shared portions much quicker and that was the time where snape was most insuferable.
Sitting next to the trio was trouble in all kind of ways. When you couldnt contain a smile and laughed at everything indiscriminatley. Ron had retorted to one of snape's remarks had you giggling.
And that was when a certain weasley came into view or you to his. Georgie's head turned to the adorable laugh that filled his ears to face the most adorable girl he'd ever seen. Her nose was scrunched and shoulders lightly shaking and the prettiest smile stretching her lips.
And for once in his life he was speachless at the prettiest thing he's seen for all he could think was how he'd get drunk on that laugh everyday if he could have poured it all into a bottle and kept for himself.
As slick as georgie tried to be, fred noticed hid brother asking around for you, creating very difficult methods to get your attention and making the dumbest possible excuses to talk to you. That was the day freddie decides to play match maker.
(2) corny jokes-
"What did the fish say when he swam into the wall?" asked georgie looking very proud of himself. Fred did not know if it was because he managed to convince harry to let him beside her or of his new horrible joke he thought of all night.
"What?" you replied, looking as curious to hear. You took your concentration off your notes and paid attention.
"Dam, get it?"
You had tour head tilted back laughing that same damn way you did the first time and holy god.
(3) the look-
It was a saturday evening and almost no one was in the great hall. most on their way back from hogsmedge while a few stayed back. George and you had found your place is the corner of the grand table with the most exiting extanges. Freddie was maybe a few feet far, they 2 could never stay apart too long was having a great laugh with his batchmates. Turning around to share the joke with George he noticed the two extanging smiles and laughs and the twinkle they had in their eyes.
her smile could'nt get any bigger
and he couldnt look at anything with so much love
(4) dates-
You were a woman of many admirers, so why were you turning everyone down? Fred was hurting his head wondering if this would increase Georgie's confidence or inflate it.
To speak for you, you had made up your mind. if it wasnt Georgie then why bother? As much as you tried not to lead yourself on like this, how could you imagine anyone but him beside you. he'd be the only one you'd want to talk to when you're sad, the first to tell when you were happy over something, the someone who'd you'd hug and dance and twirl with. how could any other man compare when he was infront of you.
But when it comes to him it leaves you to be the confident one while he's a stumbling mess
"so uh..like i know..ball-"
"you asking me to the ball weasley?"
"uhr, not like that-"
"then like what love?"
"i mean like as- just us-"
"yes darlin"
(5) dancing
Swaying and stepping on eachother's feet kept both of you to keep bursting up with fits of laughter, but the star of the night? Fred.
He was always looming around dropping his comments to both of you playing the double agent.
"she looks so pretty in that dress, makes u wanna oohlala"
"georgie's eyes are so gliterry, you could get lost in them"
"her lips are pretty nice eh, you keep wandering around there"
"georgie is more than a nice arse, he could be your nice arse"
His words of aproval kept looming over eachother's conciousness. was it time, would i regret it? one thing leading to another, both of you found yourselves at the end of the night and the both of you were ready to take a leap of faith in the all might merlin who watches over you
"so-uh you know that you were- i mean are-"
"before you say anything, i uh-"
"m trying really hard here woman, you're- I like-"
"me- you like me georgie"
and with that he was utterly confused. how did she know? who told her? and then hit his realization. you liked him back too.
"you like me back"
"no shit sherlock"
you were trying very hard to keep your cool but georgie looked so kissable didnt he? and why not take a chance, might as well
you pressed him to a wall with your palm flattened next to him, caging him even if he was towering over you. with the other, you pulled his tie, pulling him in to a kiss to last a few mere seconds and walked away, leaving georgie looking as similar to a tomato
holy shit she kissed me
she kissed me
i have just been kissed-

Masterlist | Part 1 | Part 2
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Requested? No
Summary: Cedric wants to be a champion. (Y/n) wants him to live to see the end of the school year. Freddie just wants to be (Y/n)’s boyfriend…
Warnings: starred out swear words, jealous Freddie, Angst-kinda
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Fem!Reader (you’re a Hufflepuff)
(Y/n/n) - your nickname
Tumblr media
The room was practically buzzing with anticipation. Dinner had been over and done with for what felt like ages, and yet no one had dared move from their seats. They remained, waiting. Because tonight was a big night. Tonight the students of Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang would find out who had been chosen to compete in this years Triwizard Tournament.
“Calm down, Ced.” (Y/n) tried, her housemate and best friend practically bouncing in his seat, the anxiety flowing off of him in almost visible waves. (Y/n) herself was substantially less nervous, seeing as how her birthday wasn’t for a few more months and she was therefore ineligible for the event. Not that she’d have entered, anyhow. She valued her life, thank you very much. Cedric, however…
“I can’t help it (Y/n)! This is a huge deal! Finally, my chance to make something of myself… Ever since Harry got here it’s like I’m not good enough anymore and-“ Cedric ran his fingers through his hair in distress, (Y/n) frowning at his words, cutting him off with a comforting pat on the shoulder.
“Okay, calm down.” She ordered, the boy turning his body to look at her as she continued, knowing full well the true reasoning behind his nerves, and not liking his self-deprecation one bit… “Look, I know you want to make your dad proud, Ced. But, he loves you. And I’m sure he’ll love you just as much even if you don’t get chosen.” She ran her hand along his back in what she hoped were soothing circles, to which she was proven correct when the taller lad sunk into her embrace with a sigh.
“Thanks, (Y/n/n)… I suppose you’re right…” He mumbled, resting his head on her shoulder. (Y/n) chucked in response.
“Aren’t I always?” She asked, earning herself a playful shove back which had them both giggling. “You know, I’m still not even sure what would posses a person to want to do something like this.” (Y/n) noted, running her hand through Cedric’s hair mindlessly, as she voiced her thoughts on the tournament for what was quite possibly the millionth time. Previously, it had been in an attempt to talk the older boy out of it, though, more currently, it was simply out of spite, as there was nothing anyone could do once his name had been entered. Not that (Y/n) thought that out of all the names he’d get picked. Of course she wouldn’t be telling him that. He seemed so excited about it all. And it would be much easier to deal with a Cedric that was mad at the system for not choosing him than one mad at his best friend for not believing in him. No matter that the choice seemed relatively random…
Cedric just hummed, most likely to humor her strong opinions at this point, but (Y/n) didn’t mind, as she continued on.
“I was talking to Hermione and she said-“
“Shh!!! It’s starting!” Well, then…
+ + +
“Ahh the trusty old ‘stare at her until she notices you’ trick. Works every time.” George joked from beside Fred, who sent him the nastiest glare he could muster up, before returning his attention to the Hufflepuff across the room. He just couldn’t help it. She was gorgeous. Fred had been pretty much head-over-heels in love with her since they’d been paired up for potions the first day of third year. And, much to his twin brothers amusement, he’d been fairly useless as a human being around her ever since. It’s not like Fred meant to become a stuttering mess of a man every time he was within a ten foot radius of the girl. Under normal circumstances, he could flirt his way out of a jail sentence if he really wanted to. Fred was fairly proud of this fact. But, with (Y/n), it was like he was putty in her hands. And it was incredibly infuriating…
“Shove off, mate.” Fred grumbled, finally turning his attention away from the Hufflepuff table and back to the world around him when Cedric Diggory dropped his head to rest so f*cking adorably on (Y/n)’s shoulder. Fred briefly entertained the idea of a ‘disappearing’ prank on the older bloke, but, upon the realization that that was insane, opted to simply pout at the tabletop in front of him. A nudge from his other side gained his attention away from the wood grain, however, and Fred turned to Lee with a raised brow. “What?”
“You need to loosen up, Freddie. It’s one girl. What’s that muggle saying? ‘There’s plenty of kish in the sea’?” Lee offered, confusing the sh*t out of pretty much everyone present, before George made to correct him.
“‘Fish in the sea.’ ‘There’s plenty of fish in the sea’, mate.” He said, though nobody could hold in their snickers as Lee crossed his arms across his chest defensively. Even Fred managed a small smile before returning to a neutral expression (that one might consider rather downcast for the guy in question) when Lee jumped to his own defense.
“I’m pretty sure it was ‘kish.’” He argued, clearly causing George’s annoyance to grow, while Fred remained relatively unbothered. He wasn’t looking for a different ‘fish’ or ‘kish’ anyhow. He just wanted (Y/n)…
“Why the bloody hell would it be ‘kish’? What the f*ck is a ‘kish in the sea.’” George complained loudly, unintentionally firing Lee up more. Fred rolled his eyes.
“A good snog. Lip locking. Spit sharing. You know, a ‘kish.’” He enunciated his point with a loud smack of his own lips followed by a cheeky grin that probably meant he was proud of himself, for what, Fred didn’t know. That was just about the dumbest thing he’d ever heard, and he’d been sharing a house with Ron for the last fourteen years…
“You’re an absolute idiot.”
“Hey, you’re one to talk!”
“Why don’t you say that to my face, huh!?”
“You think I won’t!?”
“Get to it, then!”
“I will-“
“Shut up, you tossers! It’s starting!” Fred almost yelled, interrupting the fighting boys when he noticed Dumbledore making his way towards the goblet at the other end of the Hall. Finally. Something to distract him…
+ + +
“Cedric Diggory!”
W-what?
The table around (Y/n) felt like it was shaking. Hufflepuffs of all ages clapping and pounding on the hard wood in support of their champion. Of Cedric…
“(Y/n/n)!” And suddenly her feet were off the ground, her best friends arms wrapped around her tightly as he swung the younger girl around in his excitement, one that she could, regrettably, not join him in.
Cedric was going to compete in the triwizard tournament... The triwizard tournament… The incredibly dangerous triwizard tournament… Cedric…
“Oh my…” (Y/n) barely managed to breathe out, in complete and utter disbelief of the situation. Meanwhile, Cedric was practically glowing.
“I did it!” He spoke ecstatically into her ear as he put her back down on her own two feet, the biggest grin (Y/n) had ever seen spread across his face. It dimmed slightly, however, when he noticed her own worried expression, and realized that she did not share in his joy.
“Hey…” He mumbled, pulling her back in for another hug, though this one considerably calmer, which (Y/n) was grateful for. “I’m gonna be okay… I’m gonna win this thing. Yeah?” He whispered so softly (Y/n) wouldn’t have been able to hear him had he not been so close.
Now, she didn’t know how much she believed him, the concern for her friend eating away at the girl immensely, but (Y/n) gave him her best smile and nod anyway, knowing that all she could do at this point was support him. Merlin knows he’s going to need it…
“I’ve gotta go with the other champions but I’ll see you later, Okay?” And (Y/n) nodded again, holding her expression for as long as she could, before finally sighing in relief when he turned, and she could drop the act and allow herself to wallow in her true feelings. God, if she hadn’t been before, she surely was nervous now…
And that was all before the boy who lived was announced as the fourth champion…
+ + +
Could this day get any worse?
Fred thought not, as the current residents of the Great Hall all sprang to their feet and began chatting animatedly about the events that had just transpired. But Fred remained stationary in his seat, grip so tight on the tables edge that, had he cared, he’d be worried he might break it.
But Fred’s mind was elsewhere, going a mile a minute in just about a million different directions.
Cedric was the Hogwarts champion…
Harry put his name in the Goblet of Fire…
Cedric was all over (Y/n) when they called his name…
Why didn’t Harry tell George and I how to put ours in?
(Y/n) looked so worried when Cedric walked off to join the other champions…
Why doesn’t she look at me like that?
“You good, mate?” Fred heard George ask from beside him, but he didn’t answer. What could he say? “No, actually. I’m incredibly offended that the girl I like seems to fancy another guy, even though I’ve given her absolutely no reason to think I’m interested in her because I can’t f*cking talk to her without sounding like a complete and utter doof.” Yeah, that would be real helpful…
“Sorry, spaced.” Fred mumbled dumbly before finally getting to his feet. “I’m tired. Let’s go on up.”
Fred knew George was looking at him funny, but he didn’t have the energy to care, as the pair made their way out of the Hall, Fred, for the first time in over two years, not sparing a single glance at the Hufflepuff table…
There’s plenty of kish in the sea, right?

Spontaneous pt. 2 G.W. x reader
Warnings: One swear word, talk of self loathing, Fred and Lee Jordan shenanigans
Word Count: 2.8k
Pairing: George Weasley x fem!reader
Summary: George finally pulled it together and asked you on a date but it had some bumps along the way.
Masterlist Part 1
Tumblr media
The week passed by painfully slowly. On Sunday, the day after George plucked up the courage to ask you out, he woke up thinking it was Saturday. He was very disappointed to learn he was wrong. Monday was slow but they usually are. Tuesday felt like Monday. Wednesday was only good because George spent his free period pranking Filch which happened to be one of his favorite ways to pass the time. He thought Thursday was Friday and he spent the whole day pouting every time he was reminded it wasn’t Friday. When it finally was Friday, George couldn’t sit still. He was sweaty and jumpy and got on every one of Fred’s nerves.
Now that it was Saturday, George paced around the courtyard, checking his watch just about every minute. 7:58. Everyone would be leaving in just two minutes and he couldn’t see you anywhere. You couldn’t have gotten lost. He knew for a fact your parents made sure you were always on time so you couldn’t have been late. You were standing him up. His heart dropped and tears pricked in the corner of his eyes. You said you wanted to come with him, in fact you said that you would love to join him but maybe it was all an act. You couldn’t tell him no to his face so you let him believe he had a shot with you only to leave him alone and embarrassed. With his head down, George started walking back to the castle when someone rammed into him.
George and the human bludger toppled to the ground, George landing harshly on his rear end. The attacker fell onto him, breaking their fall. Lucky them. With a glare and a flurry of curses ready to spring out, George looked up at the person who sent him crashing to the ground only for his anger to die immediately as he saw you. “George, I’m so sorry. I was so worried you’d leave without me or think I had forgotten you that I wasn’t looking where I was going.”
George blushed and snorted. “Why would you think that?” He smiled and once you got to your feet, he stood up as well. He offered his arm out to you and as you linked arms, he led you to join the crowd of students who had just begun their walk to Hogsmeade. “Why were you running late?” He was curious and maybe you would have brought it up on your own later but he had to know.
“I was reading a letter from my parents. I just received their response about me becoming a healer.” Your face fell for a split second before your smile came back. Part of you hoped George wouldn’t notice but another part of you wanted him to see. As fate would have it, George is very aware of anything concerning you. He saw your brief frown and when you smiled to cover it up, he didn’t see the spark in your eyes. They were not happy.
“They didn’t like it, did they?” He whispered, watching his feet as you walked.
“No, they didn’t. I was going to tell you later so I didn’t bring the mood down.” You pulled your arm away from his; after that rather disappointing topic, linking arms felt too intimate.
George felt the warmth leave his arm and he almost grabbed you, tempted to put it back. “I’m sorry. Let’s go to Honeydukes and get your mind off of it.” While he wanted you to focus on something else for a while, George was going to need the distraction as well. It was very possible your relationship with your parents could have been ruined all because of him. If that was true, he would never forgive himself.
The walk to Honeydukes was far too quiet. You didn’t say much and George wasn’t sure what to say. He already messed up when he asked you about the letter from your parents and he feared anything else would ruin the date completely. The store itself was the exact opposite of your walk with George. It was full of bright and colorful candies and people all talking excitedly about the unlimited sweets they planned to buy. Two men walked in not long after the two of you did and one of them looked shockingly similar to George. He was about the same height and covered in freckles. George would have bet money that he also had brown eyes but they were covered by sunglasses. He was a ginger as well but he had a mustache that looked like it was falling off. His friend also had sunglasses and a mustache but George could have sworn it was upside down. He looked a lot like Lee Jordan. He turned away from them and smiled a little at you. The environment seemed to neutralize the awkwardness between you and George, thankfully.
As you both wandered the aisles, George pointed out some of the candies that he preferred over the others. Of course he would eat just about anything there. “Can I buy you something?” He asked as he stood next to you. You had been looking at your favorite candy when he came up to you. If he was being honest, he shouldn’t buy you candy. Him and Fred were trying to save as much money as they could to try and save up for their products and eventually a store. It also was common knowledge that the Weasley family did not have much spending money so really, George should not have offered. That didn’t stop him though. He wanted to be the perfect date and that meant getting you some candy.
“That’s alright. You don’t have to.” You shook your head, trying to convince him not to buy you anything. It wasn’t like your parents didn’t have money. They were important people in the ministry and you never struggled for money. You could get your own candy and really, you could get George some as well.
“I insist.” Without waiting for you, George gathered a handful of packages and moved on to a different part of the store. After more time, George had his arms full of candy and his heart full of fear that he wouldn’t be able to pay for it all. As you both approached the counter, George set down the snacks and rummaged through his pockets. He counted up the coins and his heart dropped when he saw he was a Sickle short. His face burned bright red as he tried to do some quick mental math to get the total down when you slipped the silver coin into his hand. He only turned a darker shade of red at that. He didn’t want to use your money but he didn’t want to fight with you while the bored man behind the counter stared at him.
With the candy paid for, George gathered it back into his arms and just about sprinted out of the store. He kept walking, leaving you to run after him. He felt like the biggest idiot on the planet. He should have counted his money before they came into the store so he knew just how much he could buy you. He should have only got some for you and none for him. His eyes widened as a thought seemed to smack him right in the face. He wanted to take you for a butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks before the day was over but now he would have no money to do so.
“George!” You yelled, grabbing his arm. Lost in thought and self hate, George had begun walking toward the Shrieking Shack and almost moved past the fence blocking it from the public. He skidded to a stop. “I’ve been trying to get your attention for at least five minutes. What’s wrong?”
Did you really not know? How could you not have figured this out on your own? He didn’t answer and instead he turned back to look at the haunted building. What was he supposed to say? I’m mad because I spent all of my money getting you some sweets and now I can’t afford to get you anything else because my family is broke. Not to even mention you had to give me some of your money you no doubt got from your super rich parents.
“I didn’t mean to George. You insisted on buying me the candy.” He said all that out loud didn’t he?
He slowly turned back to you with a sigh. “I’m sorry. I’m not mad at you, it's just embarrassing to have to use your money.”
You moved to stand next to him, leaning against the fence. “I don’t think you should be embarrassed. Your father gets to spend his days doing what he loves. It’s not great that it doesn’t make him much money but he’s happy. Happiness is what matters most right?”
“Yeah but being happy versus being able to afford books and clothes for your kids is very different.” George loved his parents and he knew they spent a lot of money taking care of them but that didn’t make it hurt any less when he saw Ron wearing ratty old uniforms or Ginny using books that had been used so many times they were hardly holding together. It never got easier to see his friends have everything he wanted. It would never get easier.
You carefully took the candy out of his arms and shoved it into your bag before taking his hand in yours. “I’m sorry your family struggles and I’m sorry it affects you like this but please know, I am more than happy to spend my money on you. You’re right when you said my parents are ‘super rich’. They make more than enough money at the ministry which is why I don’t mind spending some of it, or a lot of it, on you.”
He opened his mouth to argue but the words died in his throat when he saw the pleading look on your face. It was your money and you would spend it how you wanted and he would just have to live with the fact that you want to spend it on him.
“Now, how about you let me spend some of this money on you and treat you to that butterbeer you planned on getting me?”
George laughed and nodded. “Only if you let me get you one next time.”
“Deal.”
---
The two of you laughed loudly at George’s story while you were tucked away into a corner booth. Something about promising that you like to spend money on him made George relax and you were finding out he’s even more fun when relaxed, if that was possible. You crammed yourself into the spot next to him and he had his arm thrown around your shoulders. He was perfect in every way.
“So you guys turned Ron’s teddy bear into a spider and that’s why he’s so scared of them? That’s horrible.” You laughed.
“Only a little. It was our job as older brothers to mess with him, we just didn’t know it would scar him for life. Oh well, it builds character.”
You only rolled your eyes and laid your head on his shoulder, pretending to ignore the way his body stiffened and his breathing stopped as you did. Despite the rocky start to the date, it easily became the best date of your life. George was funny and cute and probably the sweetest guy you ever spent time with. He was the kind of guy that would break his back if it would make you smile. You never wanted the day to end. Of course, it had to and with the warm glow coming in from the windows, it was time to head back to the castle. That didn’t make you move however. You were planning on staying here until the absolute last second.
“George,” you whispered, “thank you for asking me out. I’ve had a really great time.”
“Me too. I should have asked you out years ago.” His heart pounded in his chest as you moved to look at him, your face inching closer to his. He glanced down at your lips hoping he would get to learn if they really were as soft as he imagined. When you were just a centimeter away, a loud crash caused you both to spring apart. Across the way, the two men from before sat; the ginger was clutching onto his mug that had toppled over and now laid on its side, liquid steadily spilling out. Both of them quickly looked away from the two of you.
Moment officially ruined, you separated yourself from him and sighed. “We should probably get back to the castle.”
---
The walk back to the castle couldn’t have been more different than the walk to Hogsmeade. You two were laughing and holding hands and George seemed to have a permanent blush on his face. It was wonderful but the letter from your parents was in the back of your mind. He needed to know what it said but you were so worried it would ruin everything. In the courtyard, you stopped George even though all you wanted was to ignore the letter. “George, there’s something I should tell you.”
He stood in front of you and clung to your hand. You looked so serious and afraid of whatever it was you needed to talk to him about. He was getting scared now. George nodded, not trusting his voice.
“When I told my parents about what you said, that I should chase my happiness and all of that, they were not happy at all. They were disappointed and told me I was throwing away everything we had been working towards since I was born.” You took a deep breath and looked at your feet. “They said you were a bad influence and that I need to stay away from you. You were brainwashing me into thinking I wanted something that I didn’t want.”
Well shit. George told himself that he would never forgive himself if you ruined your relationship with your parents because of him. Let eternal self hatred begin. “I never meant to make them disappointed in you or mess this up for you.” He swallowed thickly as his heart broke. He was sure this was you telling him that whatever you had together needed to end. It would only make sense that it needed to. They were your parents, the people that brought you into the world and raised you and loved you. George was just… George. He was no one to throw away a good relationship with your parents for. There would be other guys that made you happy that your parents would approve of. Someone better and more deserving of you than George. He pulled his hand away from you but he didn’t get far.
Your grip on his hand only tightened as he tried to take it away. “I know you didn’t mean to. I don’t blame you, at all.” You stepped closer to him and put your other hand on his cheek. “You aren’t brainwashing me, you just helped me see that I would never be happy doing what they want me to do. So maybe they’re right and you are a bad influence but I happen to enjoy it.”
George’s eyes widened at your words, his heart mending itself. “I enjoy being your bad influence.”
“Good because I’m not letting you get away from me that fast.” You grabbed his face in your hands and surged forward, planting your lips on his. George didn’t move and for a moment you feared he had a heart attack or stopped breathing but he quickly recovered and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you flush against him. Your lips melded together perfectly and you were certain he was the one you were destined to be with.
“Hell yeah Georgie!” A shout from across the courtyard forced George to pull away from you. Standing not far from you two stood the two men he had seen everywhere all day. The redheaded was jumping and cheering while his friend did the worst dance George had ever seen. As the one jumped, his mustache and sunglasses fell to the floor. Fred.
For a short moment, everyone stood frozen before George spoke. “Five…”
“What are you doing?” You questioned.
“Giving them a head start. Four…”
Fred and Lee took off running, glasses and mustaches left behind. George smiled and turned back to you, planting a quick and soft kiss on your lips. “I have to go beat up my brother and best friend but I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow and the rest of your life George. You’re stuck with me.”
“Oh my, whatever shall I do.”

I'M NOT FRED
Pairings: George weasley x Fem!reader Summary: you ask out George thinking he's Fred Warnings: none, I think
Tumblr media Tumblr media
George was sat in the Gryffindor couch by himself as he waited for Fred and Lee to come back from detention that he somehow got out of
he turned when he heard a quiet voice behind him, seeing you stood there nervously, he looked to the side in the corner seeing a few girls giggling while looking at you
you walked around the couch to go in front of him
"hi" you smiled
"hello" George nodded, confused by what was going on
"can I sit?" you motioned to beside him on the couch
George shifted to give you room and shrugged
"if you want to" he said
as you sat down next to him, he noticed that you were in most of his classes
"Y/n, right?" he questioned, remembering your name from that time Snape gave you detention for messing up a potion
"yeah" you nodded, looking over his shoulder and blushing
"um, so I was just wondering if you- if you want to maybe, go to hogsmeade with me this weekend?" you asked sheepishly
your words shocked George, most people didn't notice him, only his brother, Fred, but here you were asking him out.
he didn't know what to say, he wasn't as smooth as Fred when it came to girls, he didn't know how to act or what to say
he knew you were nice from what he had heard from Angelina and his mind stopped and yelled at him
'say yes, moron!' it chanted
"sure" he nodded vigorously "yeah, I'll go with you"
"great, I'll see you there" you smiled before getting up and rushing to the girls in the corner who squealed as quiet as they could
-
"no way a girl asked you out" Fred laughed, not believing his twin when he told him
"she did, we're going out this weekend" George smiled proudly
"no way, she should know the better looking twin is right here, not you, who is she?"
"Y/n, she's in most of our classes" George replied
"oh I know her, she's lovely" Lee spoke up as he sat opposite the twins
"no, it can't be true, it's a mistake on her part asking you out" Fred teased
"whatever Fred, all I know is that I have a date and you don't"
-
George sat at the three broomsticks, across from you as he drank his butterbeer.
George didn't know what to talk about, for this had been his first date, it felt like it wasn't real, like it was too good to be true
"so, do you like potions?" he asked
"I don't really know who does" you chuckled "maybe if it wasn't Snape teaching but" you shrugged, finishing your sentence
"yeah, I only do it because I kind of need it" George smiled
"for the shop you and your brother want to open?" you tilted your head before taking a sip of your drink
"yeah" George replied, almost certain you would judge the idea like most people
"is that always what you wanted to do?" you asked, propping your chin on your palm.
"yeah, we've been interested in pranks since we were little and we came up with the idea to start a shop a few years back" he answered happily, glad you didn't hate the idea
"would you want to go to Zonko's after this?" you questioned as he finished his butterbeer
"yeah, sure, I can show you my favourite products"
you drank the rest of your drink and talked for a little bit more before you both got up to leave, he opened the door as you left and brought you over to Zonko's which was just down the road
he showed you around the shop and pointed to the products he likes.
"are you going to get anything?" you wondered, noticing his empty hands
"we'll i'm still stocked up from last week, we need to cut down what we use because we don't really have the money to get everything right now, I'm just here to get more hiccup sweets" he explained, bringing you to the corner of the shop, grabbing a few little boxes from the top shelf
you watched as he reached up effortlessly, his sweater lifted up, revealing some of the skin of his side
"why'd you agree to come with me?" you questioned, suddenly feeling not good enough for him
to you, you were out with THE Fred Weasley, it doesn't get any better than that
"what do you mean?" He looked down at you, counting the boxes he got before putting one back
"why'd you say yes to going out with me today?" you repeated
"because you're nice, and it's not like I get asked out a lot" he shrugged, waiting for you to follow him
"are you kidding? you're one of the most popular guys in our year, you're telling me that girls don't follow you everywhere you go?" you raised your eyebrows
"no, not really, I think you're talking about my brother"
George should've realised that you were talking about his brother, because to you, that's who you were talking to.
but George was too caught up being on a date, his date that was his first one, he was too busy wondering how he got a girl to ask him out
"oh please, he barely compares" you joked
after the date, you really believed that you were starting to like 'Fred'
before you asked him out you had a small crush on him, and then your friends said to just ask him as see what happens, and you did and you started feeling like there really was something there
you walked back to school and he walked you to the great hall for dinner
you went goodbye and smiled at him as he quickly leaned down and placed a slight kiss on your cheek
"would you want to do this next week?" he asked
"yeah, I'd like that" you nodded
you both said goodbye to each other and you went off to your friends
you sat next to Angie as she was the only one there
"so how was your date with George?" she asked
"sorry?" you asked
"your date to hogsmeade, with George?" she repeated, making you confused
"it was Fred, not George" you corrected her
she giggled under her breath
"they're a bit hard to tell apart but you'll get the hang of it after a few more dates with George" she laughed
"Angie, I went out with Fred, not George" you shook your head, confused
"Y/n, I was with Fred and Lee the whole day, You went out with George, you asked him out. George Weasley, not Fred" she said
you sat there, not knowing what to say
did that mean you liked George but mixed up the names or you liked Fred and mixed up their faces
"you thought you were going out with Fred?" Angie frowned
"I thought he was Fred when I asked him, I'm so confused"
-
you laid in bed, still thinking about what happened, did you like Fred or George?
the deeper you thought you came to realise that you went out with George and you felt a connection, you felt like you were starting to like him but was that just because you thought it was Fred?
-
it was about a month later and you and George went out every weekend, sometimes just hanging out in between classes
George was walking to class when he noticed your friends behind him
he tuned into their conversation and listened carefully
"I still can't believe Fred Weasley agreed to go out with Y/n! after months of just staring at him and talking about him she finally gets to talk to him" one of your friends, Hayley said to the other girls
their conversation confused George. did they just get them confused or do you actually like Fred?
his mind flooded with ideas as he entered the class, noticing you in the back, talking to Angelina. he sat with Lee and barely paid attention to class, zoning out to what the Professor was saying
soon enough the class was dismissed and George packed up his things and left, being the last one out
he walked out and saw you there waiting for him
as he locked eyes with you he made up his mind on what your friends had said.
"can we talk?" he asked, not letting you talk before him
you nodded, a worried expression on your face as you followed him
he made his way to the courtyard, you on his tail, wondering what he wanted to say.
the halls and yards were empty as students rushed to lunch
he stopped and looked at you
"I'm not Fred" he spoke disappointedly
"pardon?" you blinked, not knowing where this was coming from
"you like Fred, you asked out me, I'm not Fred, I'm George, you asked out the wrong one" he replied dully, not a glimpse of the usual mischief on his eyes
you stood there stumped, how did he find out?
George was mad at himself, and upset. of course you didn't like him, Fred was right when he said you made a mistake and George was right for thinking it was too good to be true
it made sense now, why on your first date you said he was the most popular guys in the school, getting girls from left to right, where his whole life he lived in Fred's shadow.
he never compared to Fred when it came to girls, so it hurt that the first girl he believed he got in his hands wasn't really there for him, but instead thinking it was his brother
"George, where is this coming from?" you asked, taking a step towards him
" I heard your friends talking about how you like Fred, that you've been going out with him" he shrugged, looking sad
you shook your head "well we both know I've been going out with you"
"yeah because you think i'm Fred, listen it's fine, if you want I'm sure I can ask him to go out with you but, I just think you would want to know"
even when sad, he still managed to be the most kind person you've ever met
"George I don't want you to do that, I don't like Fred" you denied, turning his offer down completely without a second thought
"look, I'm not entirely sure if I liked you and thought you were Fred or if I liked Fred and thought you were him but all I know now is that I like you. I just struggle telling the both of you apart"
"well you probably liked Fred and only went out with me because you think I'm him so" he scratched his head
"I knew it was you, George" you sighed "I knew it was you after our first date, I've known it's you for weeks"
"if you can't tell us apart then how did you find out?" he quizzed, the pit in his stomach never leaving
"Angie told me when I sat down with her at dinner that night" you reached your hand out for him to take, he looked down and stared at it wearily
"what if it was Fred you liked?" he refused to look up at you, embarrassed, not knowing what to think anymore
you really did like George, you don't know how it could happen that quickly but you did, you enjoyed every minute you two spend together
"even if I did, I know for a fact that I don't now. I like you, George" you responded, your hand still held out for him to take
he stood there silently, not seeming like he was going to respond
you slowly dropped your hand as you nodded, realising what his silent meant
he caught you hand quickly as it dropped to your side
"so you want to continue this?" he raised his eyebrows, still looking desperate
"George if I didn't want to go out with you I would've called it off ages ago, when I found out" you smiled
"good because I don't think it would be easy for me to let you just walk away"

You idiot!
Tumblr media
Fred Weasley x fem! reader
Summary: In which Fred promises you he will be careful during the battle, but things don't always go to plan.
Trigger warning: Violence, death (to some sort), blood, injury
Note: Not really sure what I did, but I tried. Also if anything seems off, I am sorry, but I tried my best to catch any mistakes. I hope you all will enjoy it to some extent! :)
•❅───✧❅✦❅✧───❅•
It was the early hours of May the Second. Y/n sat at the Gryffindor table, her leg bouncing up and down in anxiety. A mere hour ago, y/n was in her room, flipping through a photo album of when she went to Hogwarts, giggling at the moving pictures that contained herself along with Lee, George and Fred.
Fred.
Her boyfriend. Her one true love.
The boy she had developed feelings for in her fourth year, not confessing until her final year, when the pair were stuck together in a broom closet which would not budge. Only when the two were in each other's arms had the door swung open to reveal a triumphant looking George and Lee. Turned out it had all been a scheme by the pair of best friends to get Fred and y/n to confess they fancied one another.
The two had been together since then. Fred had asked y/n to move in with him the summer after she graduated. The twins had left school earlier to start up their shop but also since they were done with the pink toad known as Umbridge.
Y/n had been living with Fred in the flat the two brothers had above their shop. Y/n realized she was in love with Fred when one night, Fred had found Y/n crying. Her last bit of family, her brother, her twin, had joined the Death Eaters. She had broken down completely at that but y/n slowly recovered. Months after the news, Fred had discovered y/n crying her heart out in their sitting room in the flat, much to his surprise. Fred had simply held her until she stopped crying, and then pampered her the whole night. It was then y/n realized she didn't fancy Fred, she loved him.
However, with Voldemort having taken over, they had shifted to Fred's Aunt Muriel's place. The months passed by slowly but each day was almost dreadful, as y/n feared of hearing of anyone else she knew having been killed by Voldemort's death eaters. At one point, y/n had decided to join alongside Fred, Potterwatch, a radio station with real, accurate, up to date news. She adopted the identity of Valerie.
As the clock was nearing midnight on May the First, y/n's quiet, peaceful atmosphere had been interrupted by Fred who had burst into her room, his face looking solemn. Y/n felt her stomach twist in nervousness.
"Freddie, what's wrong?"
"It's Harry. He's at Hogwarts, we've all been called to the front." Fred answered, holding up a coin that had been used for communication between D.A. members.
Y/n gulped.
This was it. The final battle.
It all ends.
Y/n had stood up and rushed into Fred's arms.
"Promise me." She said, her voice muffled against Fred's chest.
"Pardon me, love?"
Y/n broke away and looked up at him, raising her hand out. "Promise me you'll be safe."
"Love-"
"Promise me, Freddie."
Fred had looked at her with soft eyes until he sighed and nodded.
"I promise, my love."
As y/n sat in the Great Hall, listening to the instructions being given out, her head spun with many thoughts.
What if they lost? How many casualties would there be? And... what if something happened to Fred?
A warm hand intertwined into hers and y/n broke out of the cage in her head, and turned to look at Fred beside her. His chocolate brown eyes provided warmth, a comfort that made y/n feel at home. Fred was her home.
He gave her a reassuring smile, giving her hand a gentle squeeze, and y/n felt herself relaxed a bit.
Perhaps everything would turn out alright in the end.
Oh how wrong she was.
During the fight, y/n had been separated from the twins and she ran, dodging spells, helping anyone who needed help, fighting back her attackers.
Y/n needed to see him. She couldn't rest until she was with Fred again. Y/n rounded another corner and paused for a moment.
Fred and Percy had just backed into view, both of them dueling masked and hooded men. Harry, Ron, and Hermione came up behind y/n and the four ran forth to help:
Jets of light flew in every direction and the man dueling Percy backed off, fast:
Then his hood slipped and they saw a high forehead and streaked hair - “Hello, Minister!” bellowed Percy, sending a neat jinx straight at Thicknesse, who dropped his wand and clawed at the front of his robes, apparently in awful discomfort. “Did I mention I'm resigning?”
“You're joking, Perce!” shouted Fred as the Death Eater he was battling collapsed under the weight of three separate Stunning Spells. Thicknesse had fallen to the ground with tiny spikes erupting all over him; he seemed to be turning into some form of sea urchin.
Fred looked at Percy with glee before his eyes landed on y/n who had just stunned a death eater and turned to look at him. Although, Fred didn't realize, y/n's face had paled. Augustus Rookwood had shot a spell aimed in the two brothers' direction. Y/n began to move forth.
“You actually are joking, Perce… I don't think I've heard you joke since you were-“ Y/n got to Fred but right at that moment, the air exploded. They had been grouped together, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, y/n and Percy, the three Death Eaters at their feet, one Stunned, the other Transfigured; and in that fragment of a moment, when danger seemed temporarily at bay, the world was rent apart, y/n felt herself flying through the air, her grip tight on Fred, his arms around her.
The pair slammed onto the ground hard. Y/n's leg was warm and sticky, her skin burning, meaning blood was pouring out of a nasty gash. The dust and debris had swallowed them all in darkness, shouts and screams bounced in the now torn apart corridor.
When the dust settled, y/n was finally able to see. Her face paled and y/n's heart stopped at the sight before her.
Fred lay beside her, his body limp, his arms still loosely around her, his eyes shut, his head profusely bleeding.
"No, no, no..." Y/n murmured out in horror. Fred lay lifeless beside her. Y/n shook Fred, tears racing down her face. "No! You promised!" She yelled at him, beginning to lose control of her breathing. "Wake up!"
Percy and Ron kneeled down beside y/n, their faces distraught, shock flooding their whole body.
"Y/n," Percy tried, who was also crying. "He's gone-"
"NO! HE'S NOT!" She yelled at him, sobbing.
A thought suddenly occurred to her.
"Check his pulse!"
"What?" Ron spoke out, baffled. But y/n didn't hear, she hastily leaned forth and placed her ear against Fred's chest. Y/n strained to listen, her heart pounding harder and harder by the second. She couldn't hear anything and she was starting to lose hope.
Until, she did.
A very quiet and slow heartbeat answered to her.
Her Fred was alive.
A relieved whimper of joy escaped her.
"He's alive!" She said, crying with joy. The other two brothers looked at her with wide eyes and let out watery laughs of relief. Hermione and Harry smiled gently at that, wiping their tears away.
"We have to get him out of here." Percy ordered and with the help of Ron and Harry, they lifted up Fred and began to move as fast as they could, with y/n and Hermione right behind them.
Although not too soon did a loud, menacing voice ring throughout the whole castle, causing all signs of the battle to cease.
Lord Voldemort had granted Harry Potter an hour to surrender himself or watch the battle resume once more, with even deadlier consequences.
The group walked off to the Great Hall, where everyone was regrouping. Bodies of the fallen were being brought in, the injured were being treated, families searched for one another and hugged one another out of the relief of being alive. That was how the rest of the Weasley family was.
They were gathered together, embracing one another and trying to find more of their group. George was the first to spot the newly arrived.
His eyes went wide as his face paled. He felt all the breath leave him at the sight of his twin, his best friend, being carried in such a state, making George fear the worst. The rest of the family, noticing George's gaze, turned and felt all their worst nightmares come true.
Molly was the first to act, rushing forth as Percy, Ron and Harry gently placed Fred on the ground.
"My boy!" She cried out, going onto the ground beside y/n. She then looked at Y/n who sat there, staring numbly at Fred. "Oh my dear, y/n..." Molly said, bringing her into a hug. Y/n embraced the older Weasley tightly before pulling apart.
"He's alive." Y/n said, causing the whole family to sigh in relief, as Percy came with Madam Pomfrey who immediately began to tend to Fred.
They all silently watched, and after a painfully long ten minutes or so, the matron straightened and said, "I've done everything I can. He should wake up soon." With that, Madam Pomfrey moved onto another patient.
They all nodded, waiting for Fred to wake up.
Not soon after, Fred suddenly gasped, his eyes fluttering open, roaming around as he tried to recall where he was. The entirety of the Weasley family plus Harry and Hermione let out cries or gasps of relief. Y/n had begun to cry, and that's what made Fred look at her.
His eyes softened and he slowly sat up, wincing at the pounding in his head. Fred gently placed his hands on y/n's face, making her look up at him.
"Y/n," Fred said, feeling his heart shatter as y/n merely began to sob. "Y/n, love-"
Suddenly, y/n smacked Fred on the arm, making him groan and everyone else to look on with surprise.
"What was that for, love?" Fred murmured out in pain.
"You idiot! What were you thinking? Joking around like that during a battle? You bloody promised to be safe!" Y/n let out a sob once again, "I almost lost you."
Fred sighed and brought the girl into his chest, who held onto him tightly afraid he would disappear.
"I love you." She breathed out, making Fred freeze at the confession. He placed a kiss on y/n's head.
"I love you too, darling. I love you so much." He confessed back
With that having been said, the two would repeat those words to each other everyday for the rest of their lives, as Harry would claim victory over Voldemort in the final battle, ending the reign of terror over the wizarding world for good.

"I told him I was done with his bullshit," Y/N said. "Then I threw my glass of wine in his face and took off those god-awful shoes he made me wear and threw them at him too."
"And right in the middle of the restaurant, too," George laughed. "I would've loved to have seen the look on his face."
"Me too. He was too busy trying to crawl under the table for me to get a good look." Y/N gave him a sheepish grin and then looked down.
George titled his head down to get a look at her face. "You did good love. I'm glad you finally kicked him to the curb."
Y/N sighed. "Yeah, I know. But I should've done it sooner. I just kept thinking things would get better if I said or did all the right things. That he'd... I don’t know... be better, you know?" She gave a bitter laugh. "Godric, I'm such a fucking idiot."
George moved to sit beside her. "You are not an idiot, Y/N. If anyone is an idiot, it's him for not seeing the treasure he had in you. Any guy with half a brain would be proud to have you on his arm."
"Oh, um, thanks." Y/N took a sip of her wine. "That's really sweet of you to say."
"I say it because it's true."
A brief, shy smile quirked at the corners of her lips, and she took another sip of wine. "Hey - um," Y/N began. "I was wondering if I could crash here for a little while?Just until I save up a deposit for my own place."
"Of course," George put his arm around her. "You can stay as long as you need."
"Thanks," she said and leaned her head on his shoulder.

George let go of the breath he'd been holding for what seemed like ages. Over the past several months, he'd stood by helplessly as Y/N's now ex-boyfriend, Eric, attempted to mold her into a shape that didn't tarnish his precious image.
"Why do you talk so much?"
"Why do you laugh so loud?"
"Nobody wants to hear that."
"Why do you insist on dressing like that? You look terrible."
"Stop crying! God, why are you so sensitive about everything?"
"Work run late? Or were you too busy flirting with your boss?"
The bastard took and took and took from her until she was a ghost of the confident, vibrant woman George had grown to love.
"I never thought I'd hate someone," he'd confided to Fred. "But I hate him so much it hurts. Y/N just has to give me the word, and they'll never find his fucking body."
~•~
The raised voices in the back corner of the store caught George's attention almost immediately. He turned the corner, and his vision ran red. Eric had Y/N pinned against the wall, one of his fists raised.
Before he could strike, George had him by the collar, pulling him off Y/N and backward into a shelf of Extendable Ears. The display tilted, spilling its contents in all directions and causing Eric to trip and fall forward onto George, who pulled him up to eye level. "Lay a finger on her, and I will end your life, and I mean that very seriously."
Eric sneered, twisting himself out of George’s grasp. "I don't know why you want to waste your time on that worthless - "
George's fist slammed into Eric's face cutting off whatever else he was about to say. He stumbled back, cradling his bloody nose. "You broke my fucking nose!" He bellowed. The younger twin rolled his eyes and grabbed Eric's collar once more, dragging him with one hand down the stairs and through the store to the entrance. He threw open the door and tossed Eric out. "Stay away from Y/N, or next time, I'll break more than your nose," George snarled, then slammed the door shut.

"Are you sure you're ok?" George poured Y/N and himself two hefty shots of firewhiskey.
"Yeah... yeah, of course."
He eyed her over his glass but said nothing.
"Look, I'm really sorry," she said. "I never dreamed he would do something like that."
"Love, that wasn't your fault," George replied. "I still can't believe he had the audacity to strut right in as if I wouldn't wipe the floor with his pompous ass."
Y/N giggled a little at that. "I must admit it was kinda fun watching you drag him through the store."
"It was kinda fun doing it," George chuckled and then downed his whiskey. "So, umm... Fred and I have been talking. How do you like the spare bedroom? Are you sleeping well enough?"
"Uh, yeah, it's good," she smiled. "The bed is super comfy."
"That's great!" George grinned. "How would you feel about becoming our roommate?"
Y/N's eyes widened. "Roommate?"
"Yeah, I really love you being around all the time, and I'd... miss you when you move out."
Y/N went very still and very quiet for a few long moments. When she finally spoke, her voice was barely above a whisper. "I - I'd miss you too."
"You would?" George looked stunned. "Really?"
Y/N nodded. "I really would."
"So, does that mean you're staying?"
"Yeah," she smiled. "I'm staying."

What A Lovely Git
Request: hii, could I get a snape and professor reader fic where the students notice a similar wedding ring on both of them and start asking questions, and try to figure out if they're married? and maybe she gets hurt in class once and snapes all worried about her and everyone’s like "they’re married to each other?!" by @acupnoodle
Warnings: None
A/N: This was one of my more popular fics so I decided to post it as my comeback fic hahaha
Verruca = wart in latin btw
Enjoy <3
“Would you stop staring at her like a lost puppy?” Fred Weasley flicks his twin brothers’ ear to pull him back to earth, coaxing an annoyed groan from him.
Ever since the new alchemy professor started teaching at Hogwarts 3 years ago, George has been absolutely smitten with her. Smitten might be an understatement. Enchanted, bewitched, absolutely lovestruck – Fred can’t help but roll his eyes at him. Poor fella, instead of gifting his heart to someone his age, he decided to hopelessly pin a teacher.
“Why wouldn’t she tell me?” George whines and dramatically shovels his breakfast porridge into his mouth. “Who wouldn’t tell you what?” Ron leans across the table to peak at who captivates his brother’s attention.
“Professor (L/N),” Fred sighs “She got married over the summer and won’t tell George who she married.”
“She said ‘Students shouldn’t be too concerned about their teacher’s life’” George mocks her voice “Doesn’t she know that she broke a gazillion hearts with her decision to marry someone?”
Ron shoots Fred a concerned glance, but he just rolls his eyes in response. “He’s been an overdramatic bloke since the beginning of the term.” He pats his brothers back, a little harsher than necessary.
“C’mon Goergie! Get over it. How about you start dating some girls your age? That Hufflepuff, you know, the blond one from our charms class, I believe she fancies you.”
George doesn’t even consider answering, eyes still focused on the woman at the staff table.
“Who do you reckon she married, Ron?”
“I don’t know. Probably some bloke from her hometown.” Ron is obviously not interested in the love life of his teacher, shrugs his shoulders and resumes eating his breakfast.
“It’s quite obvious, isn’t it?” Hermione interferes. “Professor (L/N) spends most of the time at the castle; even last Christmas she stayed in Hogwarts. If she had dated someone at home, she wouldn’t have stayed. She married another professor!”
George huffs at this suggestion, “And who would that other professor be? As far as I can tell, the only other staff member her age is Snape. You don’t think she married that greasy git, right?” He laughs, but Hermione just sends him an apologizing look and nods her head towards the staff table.
“Professor (L/N) is not the only one displaying a new wedding band on her finger.”
Everyone’s head snaps towards the staff table and in fact – Snape is wearing a golden wedding band on his left hand.
“No fucking way!” Fred exhales and notices that George has become unnaturally pale.
“That doesn’t have to mean anything! This could be a mere coincidence. They’re not even sitting next to each other!”
Denial, the first step to acceptance. But he’s right; the two professors chose to sit as far away from each other as possible, but that could easily be a front to keep students from getting suspicious.
An idea strucks Fred at this moment.
“You know, there’s a way to find out if it’s true.”
“What do you suggest?” George asks skeptically. There’s only one way to get him out of this misery. It’s simple: A prank!
“Veritaserum.” Fred smirks wickedly at George. “We’ll get some from Snapes stores, slip it into (L/N)’s coffee and ask who she married. It will be fun! And you’ll get your answer.” George matches his brothers grin, while the rest of the group looks dumbfounded.
“You’re bloody mad, aren’t you? Stealing from Snapes personal stores... Do you have a death wish?” Ron looks panic stricken at the twins.
“Nonsense. We’re not stealing – we’re borrowing,” George muses “we’ve been doing so since first grade.”
“So, you want to steal– excuse me – ‘borrow’ from one teacher to drug up another?” Hermione’s expression appears as if she can’t believe anyone could possibly be so stupid.
“That’s exactly what we’re going to do. Right, Georgie?” Fred nudges his brother with his elbow playfully, grinning from ear to ear.
“Exactly!”
-----------------------------------------------------------
Getting hands on the Serum was the easy part. Letting the professor consume it; A whole different story.
The 5th year Gryffindors have alchemy lessons with the Hufflepuffs on Tuesday mornings. Professor (L/N) always sneaks a cup of coffee from the breakfast table into her first lessons of the day. Perfect, Fred thought at first, but turns out; she never ever lets go of her cup.
“We need to cause a distraction,” Fred murmurs, “Maybe a firecracker?”
George shakes his head and starts rummaging in his pocket, “Got a better Idea.” He retrieves a small object that looks suspiciously like one of their Skiving Snackbox sweets. “Fainting Fancy.”
“Brilliant!” Snatching the candy from his hand, Fred puts on his most charming smile and taps the shoulder of the cute Hufflepuff at the table in front of them, “A treat as sweet as you, only for you,” he offers the candy and winks wickedly at her.
A trick that never fails to work, thanks to his irresistible Weasley-charm. The girl blushes prettily before accepting the treat with a coy ‘thanks’, and eats it.
It doesn’t take long for the ‘Fainting fancy’ to do its magic and cause the Hufflepuff to faint, letting her head fall on the desk with a dull bang. The professor, immediately alarmed, hurries towards the girl and Fred uses this distraction to cross the classroom and slip a few drops of serum into her coffee, without anyone noticing.
He scrams back to his seat and watches as George offers the girl a few sips of his water in which he has dissolved the antidote beforehand. The Hufflepuff immediately awakes with a startled gasp, causing the professor to side-eye the twins with a suspicious glare.
“Mr. and Mr. Weasley, I want the both of you in my office, immediately after the lesson. Is that clear?”
Shit. Seems like she did spend a little time with the dungeon bat after all. At least judging by the new tone, she picked up. But luckily, she didn’t appear to have noticed what Fred was up too.
Unfortunately though, after the incident, the professor seems to have completely forgotten about her coffee whatsoever. She hasn’t touched it ever since.
Fred was, to put it mildly, annoyed. He could have lived with a bit of detention if their plan worked out at least. But the lesson is over, the serum unconsumed and the brothers find themselves waiting inside of professor (L/N)’s office for scolding.
“Why do I have the feeling, that the fainting of Miss Baker today has something to do with you, boys?” She smiled lovingly at them. Ever the nice professor.
Fred and George keep feigning innocence, not giving into her ‘good cop’ act.
“C’mon, boys. Don’t take me for a fool,” She retrieves her wand and nonchalantly waves it in the door’s direction. It opens and in flies the cup of coffee she forgot in her classroom earlier. Fred nudges his brother with his elbow as they observe their teacher using a spell to heat the cold brew up again.
“You know, I love your inventions. They’re creative and simply brilliant! But the whole staff already knows about your little candy, and I can’t keep pretending that I don’t notice.”
Just when she’s about to lift the steaming mug to her lips a knock raps at the door.
Without waiting for a response, the person lets themselves in and to the twin’s horror it’s their potions professor, Severus Snape, himself.
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck! Abort mission!
“I thought I saw a cup of coffee mindlessly drifting through the halls and as expected it belongs to none other than my– ” The easy smile on Snape’s lips dies the instant he notices the twins sitting on the chairs that are placed in front of the desk for visitors.
“Weasleys… In for some trouble again?” He hisses at them, sneering along the way. What a git.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business, professor.” Professor (L/N) winks at the brothers and leans back on her chair, mug still in hand. If they’re lucky, she won’t drink any until Snape is gone.
“No, I guess not.” Snape narrows his eyes, annoyed. “I’ll better see myself out then. Later, (Y/N)?” The second their eyes meet; the smile reappears on his face. It would be heartwarming, endearing even, if it wasn’t Snape they’re talking about. Fred grimaced at the sight.
“Yes, see you later, Severus.”
With that Snape leaves, and Fred lets go of the breath he didn’t notice he was holding.
Finally, professor (L/N) drinks a sip of her coffee and laughs delighted, “You owe me, for not letting Snape in on your little pranks.”
How will they know whether the serum’s already working?
“So, professor (L/N),” George starts, “how are you, on this beautiful morning?”
An expression of irritation crosses her features for a millisecond, “Are you trying to charm me to get out of trouble, Mr. Weasley?”
Not working, then. George shakes his head, blushing furiously. “Just asking.”
The professor becomes suddenly very quiet, a deep frown settling on her usually soft features. Something’s wrong. A red, aggressive rash forms all over (L/N)'s skin and she grabs her throat with both hands hysterically, as if she’s struggling to breath.
The office door flies open again; “(Y/N), I forgot to inform you –” Snape reentered just on time to witness the tears forming in her eyes and she pleadingly looks at Snape, silently crying for help.
Snape rushes to kneel in front of her, concern and fear plastered all over his face as he cradles her face to examine it.
“(Y/N), my love, what is it?” She struggles in his grasp, not able to answer but manages to point at the mug. He retrieves his wand, casting a spell to summon the swallowed liquid outside of her stomach. But it’s too late. The serum is already absorbed.
The rash on her skin forms into loads of wards and Snape snaps his head towards the twins.
“What. Did. You. Do?”
“No – Nothing!” George appears paler than ever, “We slipped Veritaserum into her coffee, we – we didn’t expect such a reaction!”
“Veritaserum?” Snape hisses, venom laced in his dangerous tenor. “Show me the vial!”
Fred quickly scrams his bag, retrieves the vial and hands it to Snape, who inspects it.
“That’s Verrucaserum, you pigheaded dunderheads!” This time he screamed, teeth bared and spit flying all over the place, “It’s a perfect cure for the frogsflu put can be crucial when taken in healthy condition. She could die!”
Fred has witnessed Snape in many angry stages, but this surpasses everything. He’s furious, almost frantic. He’s waving his wand over the suffocating woman and lifts her seconds later as if she weights nothing.
“Out of the way!” He spits, “I need to get her to the hospital wing.”
With that Fred and George are left alone in their professor’s office with nothing but their raging guilt.
-----------------------------------------------------------
“They’re just children, Sev. They didn’t mean any harm.”
Professor (L/N)’s voice rings through the stony halls of the hospital wing from where she lays on a bed to the entrance where the twins are lurking. They came to apologize for what they did, even brought some flowers and chocolate back from Hogsmade. They feel absolutely terrible for what happened.
Snape’s by her side, as expected, sitting on a chair with his back slouched towards the entrance, his yellowing fingers clutching their teacher’s hand as if his life depends on it. The pair hasn’t noticed the Weasleys yet.
“I know they didn’t! That doesn’t change the fact that – ” Fred has never heard Snape so desperate before, his voice so soft compared to the tone he usually chooses to address his pupils, and cracking on every other word as if he’s close to tears. It tucks at something within Fred’s chest.
“This,” Snape continues, “This could have caused some serious long-term damages, or even worse – ” He struggles to finish the sentence, “We are lucky I was there. If I hadn’t – what would have happened if…” Snape loses it then, letting his forehead fall on their joined hands and releases a shaking sob.
“Shh! It’s alright, love.” She runs one hand through his hair soothingly, “I’m fine, See!” Gently she grabs his chin and pulls Snape’s head towards hers, their lips interlocking in a sweet kiss.
Fred turns to dare a glance at his brother, who watches the interaction silently, a mellow look in his eyes. Snape’s voices echoes once more;
“You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, (Y/N). I wouldn’t know what to do if I were to lose you.”
George turns to walk away suddenly and pulls on his brother’s sleeve, “C’mon Fred.” He murmurs “We’ll find a different time to apologize. They need their privacy.”
Fred couldn’t agree more.
