When the King was assessinated, Sam took the role of George's father. He didn't need to, he just needed to be professional.

But the king, before the night where he was assessinated, told Sam to take care of his son if something happened to him.

What a fucking timing.

It's obviously all eventually, it took almost a year for George to talk more to him.

Tubbo, also, helps George with little things. Changing flowers so they are blue ones instead of colourful ones all around the castle is one of them.

Tommy can't really help that well, but he remembers the night where they all knew what happened. George tried to be strong yet, when all of them were left alone, the prince broke down in Wilbur's arms.

Tommy empathic magic was kicking in, feeling the pain of George and accidentally making Wilbur cry as well. It was a disaster but all of them cry until they slept. Until they were dry.

oo royal au's are so sexy anon (sorry this took so long, have been traveling)

there's so many different directions a royal au could go, haha. at first I was thinking an arranged marriage, or even one of them kidnapping the other. but I finally settled in on what I want

prince! george and guard! wilbur

wilbur honestly hates the royal family

he's always thought they were evil, corrupt, betraying the wellbeing of their people for money and power

but he needs a job to support his family

so he works hard, he puts his grievances and stubbornness aside, and trains to become a royal guard

despite his reservations, he's one of the best guards at the castle

and it doesn't take long for the king to start trusting him more

so he gives him more responsibilities

and by responsibilities, I mean his annoying, trouble maker son

wilbur is happy for the pay raise that accompanies the promotion, but he is dreading looking after the prince

the prince was well known for being a spoiled brat that never attends to his duties in the kingdom

still, wilbur tries to be a professional and treat him with respect

the prince, george, is not happy with the new babysitter

and repeatedly causes issues on purpose for wilbur to deal with, so he can try to sneak off

it isn't until the night of a ball that their tension comes to a head

george is supposed to be looking for a future partner to lead their kingdom with

but he's being bitchy to everyone who even looks at him, and not even halfway into the night, he sneaks away

wilbur finds him huddled up in a pavilion, staring into space

there's a cat rubbing his side, getting hair all over his suit

but to wilbur's surprise, george doesn't seem to care

the prince is cooing softly to the animal, gently rubbing its ears

it's the first time wilbur sees behind george's facade

he sits next to his side, silent for a moment

eventually, george says something like "I know you hate me, but please don't make me go back there"

wilbur almost feels bad for him, enough to not bring him back to the ballroom, but not enough to sugarcoat what he was about to say

"you're lucky your highness," he'd say, "i'd never want to be in your shoes... but there are people on the streets, on your streets, that are starving and dying. you hate the privilege you have, but just be grateful that you have the opportunity to hate it."

that is a big wake up call for george, who had pushed all the blame on the state of the kingdom on his father

they sit in silence a bit longer, and wilbur is half expecting george to cuss him out, or call for his execution

but that never comes, instead, george gently lays a hand on wilbur's wrist and asks,

"do you have ideas on what to do?"

wilbur nods and george asks, "will you help me?"

the guard is taken aback by both the words, and how genuine the prince seems, and he agrees to help but tells george he has to meet him halfway, no more running away, no more being a brat

george agrees

they spend the rest of the night talking, going over ideas and telling stories, bonding
