georgian mythology: apsat
apsat is a male deity of birds and animals. some sources regard him as responsible for all hunted game, while others consider him to watch over fish and birds specifically. in some cycles, he is the primary hunting god, while in others, he is part of a pantheon of hunting deities.

This is my depiction of Medea, a mythical princess and enchantress from the kingdom of Colchis in the western Caucasus (where there now lies the modern country of Georgia). Gifted with prophetic abilitiy, Medea helped the Greek hero Jason of the Argonauts obtain the Golden Fleece and became his wife.
However, a later tragic drama by the playwright Euripides portray Medea and Jason’s relationship as ending unhappily, with her murdering their two sons after Jason abandoned her for the princess of Corinth (whom Medea murders as well, along with her father). Taking refuge in Athens, Medea marries their ruler Aegeus, but he then has her cast out after she tried to poison his son Theseus.
Despite Colchis’s Caucasian location, the Greek historian Herodotus proposed that its people came from Egypt on account of their relatively dark skin and some shared cultural practices (e.g. weaving techniques and ritual circumcision). I am not aware of any harder evidence for a connection between the Colchians and Egypt or any other African country, but his conjecture did inspire me to give Medea a rich honey-brown complexion. However, just to be safe, I have also produced an alternate version where she has lighter skin more in line with most Caucasian peoples (e.g. Georgians, Armenians, and Azerbaijanis).

Recenzija: Pandora
Tumblr media
Originalan naslov: Pandora
Autor: Susan Stokes-Chapman
Datum: 20/10/2022
Ocjena: ⭐⭐⭐
————————————————————————
Prvo i osnovno, očekivala sam puno više.
Likovi naoko djeluju razrađeno, no njihova karakterizacija u svojoj je šuštini veoma površna.

NAKSHATRAS AS GODDESSES
5/27
🌙Mrigashira🦌
DISCLAIMER: This is based solely on my research and the patterns that I saw. I can't promise that I'm gonna be sure in all the coorelations, but I'm going to attribute each nakshatra a goddess that I think fits it the closest. If you're dissapointed, to make up for it, I'm going to list some other deities in the end that I think also fit the nakshatra. Don't come for me if you think I'm wrong, be respectful in the comments if you think so and have fun 🤍
This one is more of a collection of very similar goddesses who are all pretty much well-suited for Mrigashira. I still chose the principal goddess, although it was very hard to focus on only one.
Flidais
Tumblr media
Pantheon: Celtic
Name meaning: soft-haired, fair haired.
Associations: Hunting, woodlands, wild animals, cattle, deer.
Symbols: deer
Flidais is a somewhat obscure Celtic goddess of the hunt. She's similar to more famous goddesses: Artemis and Diana, but unlike them, she's not a virgin and her story is different.
The mythology of Mrigashira is about how the seeming perfection of Rohini (the union of sexes) gets shattered. It's the birth of seduction and pursuit between the sexes, this is the place where Eve eats the forbidden fruit and becomes aware that she's separate from the male, not just something to be placed under his submission, as she was in Rohini. In Hindu mythology, when Rohini realizes that she's desired by Brahma, she turns into a doe and flees. Brahma then turns into a deer and chases her, before his head is cut off by God Rudra (God of the next nakshatra_ Ardra), thus, the deers's head being Mrigashira's symbol.
The story of goddess Flidais goes like this: She's unhappily married to a man she dies not love, feeling stuck and not knowing what to do, until another man appears, with whom she shares a deep love. He gets challenged by Flidais's husband, and he wins. As a reward, he gives deer and cattle to Flidais, for her to have something on her own, placing his faith in her. In one myth, she's said to have transformed into a stag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flidais has a surname, Foltcháin, meaning "beautiful(soft) hair". Mrigashira belongs to a clan of nakshatras called Pulastya (smooth haired).
Besides Flidais, there are other goddesses that can be coorelated to Mrigashira. One of them is Dali- Georgian goddess of the hunt, deer and other horned wild animals. She's said to have beautiful, long golden hair and is the Goddess that governs the rules of the hunt. Either completely nude or dressed only in white, she frequently mated with humans as she wished, just like the female in Mrigashira awakening to her own sexual power. She was said to be unbelievably beautiful, both irresistible and terrible. Dali was harsh with those who violated her rules. She lived in a cavern in a mountain. Parvati, the goddess that was born under this nakshatra, was the goddess of mountains, among other things.
Tumblr media
There is also a story about a celtic maiden named Sadhbh, who refused to accept a Druid's advances and because of that, was cursed to be a doe. After three years, the serving man of that druid took pity on her and said that if she were ever to set foot in the dún (castle, fort) of the Fianna of Ireland, the curse would be lifted. Fianna were small bands of warrior-hunters in Ireland during the Iron age and early middle ages. Sadhbh travelled straight to a house that belonged to a Fionn. She was found by him as a doe when he was out hunting. His dogs didn't harm her since they too had been humans before. When they returned to the house, Sadhbh was once again a beautiful girl. They got married.
After Fionn was called to battle against the Vikings, the druid reached Sadhbh and laid the same curse on her, again. Fionn spent several years searching for his wife, but without success. At the end of those seven years he found a wild boy in the forest who said he was raised by a doe. Fionn looked at his face and recognising his wife's features, he realised that he was looking at their son. The boy was Oisín, a famous figure in Irish mythology.
Tumblr media
Another interesting deity is the Albanian goddess Zana- goddess of the mountains. Zana were said to be fairies who lived in the mountains and bathed in waterfalls and river streams in nature. They're said to have a very brave character that was known to all. She's a somewhat obscure goddess given her name comes from the name of a creature, but I thought that she was interesting nontheless.
I want to talk about Mrigashira's ruling deity- the moon god Soma. Soma is also known to be the exilir of immortality. Mrigashira's power is to give fulfillment, so to drink Soma, to eat the forbidden fruit, to attain something not everyone has access to is risky, but it's worth the risk. Mrigashira is also associated with quests, adventures and bravery (just like Bharani, the other Venus-Mars ruled nakshatra). The real life natives of Mrigashira are often daring and inquisitive, always craving something else besides what they have.
The moon god being Mrigashira's deity makes me think that Artemis- Greek goddess of the moon, hunting, deer and other wild animals is a great fit for it, but her virginal nature is not in alignment with Mrigashira. If we think of her virginity as simply her being unmarried and independent, then she definitely can be coorelated to Mrigashira. The same goes for Diana- her Roman equivalent.
Some other deities I coorelated to Mrigashira other than Flidais:
Artemis- Greek goddess of hunting, deer, wild animals, the Moon and virgins.
Diana- The Roman equivalent of Artemis.
Dali- Georgian goddess of hunting, deer and other horned wild animals.
Zana- Albanian fairy goddess of the mountains.
Sadhbh- Irish doe-maiden goddess
Cernnunos- Celtic horned god, the god of wild things.
This is it for Mrigashira. I'm very happy I found the Goddesses whose mythologies were so obviously similar to Mrigashira's. As I said, it was hard to choose just one, but I think that I made the right choice, given that Flidais ticked off the most similarities. I'm consistently fascinated by the coorelations between seemingly unrelated cultures and this one was big. It's also my sun, rahu and saturn placement, so no pressure there lol.
Anyways, let me know what you think. Like COMMENT AND REBLOG, please interact with me if you found this interesting. Love you, and take care 🤍🤍🤍

Writeblr Introduction
Tumblr media
Hello! It's time to properly introduce myself to the writeblr community. You can call me KC if you want. I am a full time specialist as my local library system and I have a Master of Letters in Fantasy Literature from the University of Glasgow. For now, this is my writing website, until an agent/editor tells me to build a WordPress or something. (I honestly hate traditional blogs. Weird quirk, don't know why. Also, links are underlined). If I get tagged in things, I will do my best to respond to them and share it forward.
Published Works- This includes my self-published 5e adventure and the two anthologies that include my stories. It will be updated and kept current as this develops.
Works in Progress- The main projects that I've been bouncing back and forth between. Most are world-oriented, meaning they have numerous interconnected stories within a single world.
Where to Find Me: Some of my other internet homes, including World Anvil, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook.
More Details Below...
Here are some more details on the different things I linked above:
Published Works
"Sofia Serrento's Flying Circus and the Sky Pirates of Shanghai" is published in the anthology Hell Hath No Fury: New Pulp Heroines. It's a New Pulp story set in 1930s Shanghai, featuring Sofia Serrento and her all-women aero-circus/spy ring.
"The God-Kings' Tomb" is published in the anthology Futures That Never Were, an anthology of original sword & planet short stories. This one is in the same universe as Sofia Serrento, so the two stories are... technically connected. This one involves an SOE advisor specializing in the occult and arcane who finds herself transported to a different planet in the solar system.
Siege at Oasis Butte is a standalone 5e adventure published through the DM's Guild featuring a desert town under siege by mercenaries with mysterious motivations.
Works In Progress
Iron Horizons/The Pilgrim's War: This was a NaNoWriMo novel from a few years ago that has since... grown. I've been calling it a Dieselpunk space opera, but alternate history/retrofuturism is also apt. Basically, humanity rapidly developed space flight in the 1920s based on some MacGuffin physics nonsense leading to the second world war happening on a solar system level using extensions of 30s aesthetics. Pilgrim's War is set roughly 400 years after that war ended, with the extensive resources from space maintaining the colonialist expansion into the stars and focuses primarily on a sort of... War of 1812 situation between a well-established independent government and their recently independent colonies.
The Centurion Club: My published short stories are set in this universe. Ironically, this is also an alternate history. It's the primary setting for my "New Pulp" fiction. It's mostly short fiction, with some longer projects in the brainstorming phase, and it focuses on the fictionalized city of Weymouth in New England and the members of the illustrious Centurion Club, a scientific society for explorers, scientists, freedom fighters, reformers, and others who push the boundaries of human society. Beyond that, a sword and sorcery setting in Mesolithic Doggerland, some privateers/mercenaries in the 17th/18th centuries, and a contemporary CGIS special agent in a Clive Cussler vein, plus a great many vigilantes and adventurers in the 1930s.
Sigil of the Sea King: A heroic fantasy which, also a NaNoWriMo project, is self-indulgence, where I throw together everything I've really enjoyed but could never fit in elsewhere. So there's an island kingdom ruled by merchant sea princes, flying air whales, nomads whose wagons are pulled by sails, cozy Forest Folk, a lone surviving heir to a crumbled kingdom, and lots of influence from Georgian/Armenian/Caucasian culture, mythology, and history.
Flintlock Fantasy: This is just the earliest stages of development, mostly just simmering, but somewhat Napoleonic secondary fantasy world. The main character is an elf named Lark, and I think she's sort of a janissary-type sent to work covertly in a border region between two empires. Random, Personal Information
You may have once known me as NovelistSpaceRanger, but that was like 8 years ago.
I'm a certified open-water diver and I'm working on my advanced open-water diver later this summer.
Also a whitewater rafter, backpacker, mediocre yogi, and rock climber.
I've been to 14 countries and spent a year and a half living in Europe.

Episode 3x02 - (I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea
Shaun Leane 'Serpent's Trace' bracelet and earrings.
Description of the collection from the website:
"The serpent leaves us two magnificent gifts: in life, its shed skin - a powerful symbol of re-birth then, in death its majestic bone structure - one of nature’s most fascinating constructions. Designed for hypnotic movement, fitting of such a mystical creature."
Altuzarra 'Tamaar' ivory suit jacket.
The name Tamar is of Hebrew origin, meaning 'date palm tree'.
The palm tree symbolizes victory, triumph, peace, and eternal life. Tamar is also associated with the Thames.
In Georgian mythology, Tamar was a goddess who rode a serpent with a bridle made of gold. Tamar was revered for her strength, courage and power.
She is also identified as the Georgian goddess Lamara. This is likely a cognate of Lamia. The Latin Vulgate Bible gave "Lamia" as a translation of Hebrew Lilith, Adam's recalcitrant first wife.
Hannah Waddingham has previously said that Rebecca's fashion choices are deliberate. With that in mind, what we're seeing here is a woman poised to strike. This season, Rebecca is harnessing her strength, shedding the person she used to be - the person Rupert forced her to be - and no longer bending to his will. Even if AFC Richmond doesn't emerge victorious, Rebecca is determined to do so as an act of catharsis, and ultimately, revenge.

Pardon for a question relating to cultural stuff, but, do you know anything of pre-Christian religious and mythical things are known about in Georgia? Tying to that, what kind of information can be found about Amiran?
If not, no worries and thank you either way!
Hello! Actually wikipedia has quite extensive article about Georian mythology (i suggest reading cosmology part first and then creation myth section because cosmology part kinda talks about "world building")
This is wikipedia about Amirani and here's full version of the story
Our mythology is heavily influenced by Greek mythology and often intertwines with it. (Amirani myth being one of them). One such myth which I couldn't find in that article is the myth of Argonauts and Jason. Jason goes on a quest and he comes to Colchis (name of ancient Georgia back then) as part of his quest. Here's whole myth and there's section about Golden Fleece which happens in Colchis.
Im linking wikipedia pages because I've read them myself and they are quite extensive. But honestly because Georgians became christians so early (it was second country which officially recognized christianity), our mythology isn't that pronounced and popular.
Oh and almost forgot to link one of my favorite myths (because its so funny to me). The myth of how we Georgian got our land😃 but this is already post-Christianity myth…
