Not sure if you are the right person to ask this but what is the deal with Gerion's trip to Valyria? Because according to Fire and Blood, after Aerea died Jaehaerys forbid anyone from Westeros from ever going there and ordered than any ship suspected of having been there should be turned away from ports.
Did somebody later overturned that order so it was again legal to go there, did Gerion think it wouldn't apply to him because he's a Lannister or did Tywin find a neat way to get rid of problematic brother without dirtying his hands personally?
I think the No-Prize Answer is that even if this law was still on the books, so to speak, and remembered by anyone (except, say, the platinum-link maesters of the Citadel) by 291 AC, Robert Baratheon was probably not particularly inclined either to recall this bit of history or enforce it as king, especially when it came to his uncle by marriage. Robert was by no means stupid, but his areas of expertise were never highly scholastic, and so a decree issued nearly two and a half centuries prior may not have even registered in Robert’s mind as an important point in his education. Moreover, as king - especially a king almost a decade into his reign by 291 AC - Robert displayed little interest in his role as supreme judicial authority in the realm, calling laws a “tedious business” and bemoaning the work of “listen[ing] to them [i.e. his subjects] complain until my mind is numb and my ass is raw”. It is possible, if not indeed probable, that Robert was too busy hunting, hawking, and/or pursuing a fleeting extramarital affair to even bat an eye at the idea of one of his subjects sailing to the ruins of Valyria, much less whether such a voyage would be legally forbidden.
Too, even if Robert had thought to bring up Jaehaerys I’s decree, he may have refrained from doing so in deference to his Lannister in-laws. It is no secret, certainly by the time of AGOT, that Robert had allowed Lannister influence to flourish at court, to the exclusion of virtually any other aristocratic faction: his acceptance of Tyrek and Lancel Lannister as his squires, his acceptance of Jaime as the Warden of the East following the death of Jon Arryn, his concession to Cersei over Lady at Darry. While Gerion Lannister left Westeros some seven years before the start of the main novels, I could very much believe that Robert had already begun to allow this Lannister domination at court: after all, he had seemingly raised no objection to his (ostensible) firstborn son being given an explicitly Lannister( and to that point, historically pointed) name, nor to his daughter being given a very Lannister-like name (and in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cersei named Tommen after Uncle Gerion himself and his voyage, a nod to the Lannister glory once lost by King Tommen which this favorite uncle hoped to reclaim). I don’t tend to think Tywin engineered Gerion’s voyage - an audaciously confident far-reaching quest to reclaim the symbol of Lannister regal power, undertaken by this most reckless of Tytos Lannister’s sons, doesn’t seem too far off from some of the actions of, say, Jaime or Tyrion - but I do think that if some or all of the Lannisters supported Gerion in this voyage (and funded him going on it), Robert may not have been personally inclined to fight his queen and/or the Lannister faction about it.
Of course, the practical answer is that GRRM introduced the idea of Gerion Lannister sailing to Valyria, (almost certainly) never to return, many years before he described Jaehaerys I forbidding Westerosi from sailing to Valyria. Just as Fire and Blood Volume 1 described the infrastructure improvements in the capital instituted by Jaehaerys I without acknowledging what happened to King’s Landing thereafter to make it the stinking cesspit of the main novels, for example, and alluded to hatchlings and young drakes extant during the reigns of Jaehaerys I and Viserys I without ever explaining why there were no more adult dragons than those we already knew going into that book, so F&B gave us this decree without attempting to reconcile it with the current attitude of the Westerosi legal system toward voyages to the Smoking Sea. It’s entirely possible we get an answer to this apparent contradiction in a future novel, and/or in Fire and Blood Volume 2, but for now it simply remains an apparent unanswered question.

The funny thing about Tywin is that he is literally the only one out of his siblings that doesn't actually like Tyrion.
Gerion was of course his favorite uncle. Tygett always treated him kindly, as Tyrion recalls when Tyrek goes missing. Kevan kisses him on the cheek (actual physical affection!) and praises him for his deeds during the battle of the blackwater. Even Genna considers him to be just like Tywin, whom she confirms she loves and goes on to describe as the sort of man who comes around only once in a thousand years.
Every one of Tywin's siblings actually likes Tyrion and can see his worth. Tywin is just blinded by his hatred and ableism.

💛 Genna and her non tywin brothers
i think a lot about them and I think they are basically a sibling unit unto themselves! like tywin is almost a second father, and Kevan is more like the big brother/eldest daughter syndrome kid who tells them all what to do and mediates during arguments. Genna likes to rib him but will take his side when she's done having fun and they have to wrap things up. Tygett sulky ass mf who is quite sensitive and takes offence to anything. constantly riled up by Gerion but enjoys duelling w him bc Kevan never gets involved in their sports. severe middle child syndrome, would probably be happiest as the eldest son of a minor house bc he finds the Lannister aesthetic A Bit Much. vents to Kevan and Genna frequently, enraged by the way they've just settled w the status quo. Gerion is Genna's fave and embraces his role as the youngest child whole-heartedly. takes the piss out of Tywin behind his back but would never dare to his face: very afraid of him but won't admit it, lowkey longs for his approval hence his ill-fated trip to Valyria which his other sibs begged him not to undertake. habit of taking a joke too far (hence why he's always fighting w Tyg). and finally Genna herself who I think is all of her brothers' favourite cos she's best at reading them and a good listener etc + not afraid of Tywin as her brothers all are to greater and lesser degrees. she says shit to Tywin's face that none of them would but they absolutely like to quietly watch just to see his reaction
in short i think they are a strangely functional family, who can rely on each other for love and affection and Tywin for protection. they did worry when they heard that guy was going to have children though and essentially took over as substitute parents for Cersei, Jaime and Tyrion as soon as Joanna was gone based on a mutual agreement that it was difficult enough having Tywin as a second father never mind an actual one

You smile like Gerion and fight like Tyg, and there's some of Kevan in you, else you would not wear that cloak... but Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you.

Tygett & Gerion Lannister
Tywin's youngest two brothers! Unfortunately, neither makes it onto the page in the novels proper. For Tygett, we know he's an accomplished knight, and that he dies of pox sometime after siring his son Tyrek. I've depicted him in his thirties since it's not clear. We also know he has a lot of resentment for his position "in Tywin's shadow," as it were, courtesy of his big sister Genna. As such, I wanted him to look kinda like Jaime but angrier. Gerion, on the other hand, was full of laughter and jokes. Jaime and Tyrion both call Gerion their favorite uncle, and I think they share something of his personality. He's missing as of the start of the series, having gone on a quest to Valyria ten years prior. He was also in his thirties at this point.

A missing Tywin sibling.
WinterIsComing.net has an article called Top 10 Valyrian steel swords from the Game of Thrones books.
Something that particularly caught my attention was the section on the Lannister Valyrian sword Brightroar.
The ancestral sword of House Lannister was the Valyrian steel blade called Brightroar. According to the World of Ice and Fire, the Kings of the Rock purchased Brightroar from the Valyrians a century before the Doom. It is said they paid enough gold to raise an army.
Not much is known about Brightroar except it was wielded by two prominent Lannister patriarchs. The first was Lancel IV Lannister, who used the sword to behead an ironborn king called Harrald Halfdrowned. The next was Tommen II Lannister, who wielded the blade when he sailed a massive fleet to plunder the ruins of Valyria.
Indeed, there was a previous Lancel and a previous Tommen.
Tommen, the fleet and Brightroar were all lost in this voyage, and generations of Lannisters attempting to recover the blade in vain. The most recent attempt was made by Tywin Lannister’s younger brother Gerion, who left Westeros in 291 to find the sword. By the time of the main books, Gerion had not returned yet and is presumed to be dead.
I was unaware that Tywin and Kevan had another brother. If there is ever a spinoff featuring Arya’s voyage around the world (PLEASE, I BEG!), having her encounter the long lost Gerion Lannister would be a great occurrence. If still alive, he’d be in his late 40s at the end of Season 8 of GoT.
Here is how UK artist Daniel Burgess at Art Station visualized Brightroar.

^^^ That’s actually just one view of Brightroar. The remaining ones are here – including a closeup of the pommel.
