Anyway, I never did the Kul Tiran recruitment questline because fuck you, I'm not doing ALL THAT Battle for Azeroth content. But the recent patch made it so that you can just do it immediately without grinding so I was like SURE! WHY NOT?

Anyway, the questline is about Jaina wanting to gift Anduin a Kul Tiran ship to reforge the bond between them and the Alliance. And at some point, you get to NAME the ship. As in, you get to choose from like 5 names.

Blizzard was apparently targetting ME SPECIFICALLY because one of those options was 'the Lionheart' and I screamed out loud irl (real).

I feel the need to write something.

So someone has been "mocking" and belittling my recent post about a review to a (very old) Harry Potter fic I wrote. And they said it was because of the writer being a transphobe and the books being full of antisemitism.

I acknowledge that the writer is a horrible person. This isn't something I will deny. I also acknowledge that she wrote some very harmful stereotypes all throughout the series.

What I will not do is deny those of us who found comfort and connection in the books. My first fanfics I ever posted online were HP. My stepmom and so many of my friends and I bonded over the shared love of the books and going to see the movies together.

In college, I made a Gryffindor robe for my costuming class that I still wear often.

There are so many examples of problematic materials all through the ages. The Christian's Holy Bible being one of them. We can acknowledge the problems and discuss the existence of them while still enjoying a lot of the material that is otherwise presented.

And, folks, please be kind. You never know what you're stepping into when you mock and belittle people for the things they like and may have engaged in in the past or are engaging in in the present.

Things other people find comfort in aren't your business unless it directly effects you. And you know the things are doing harm to them or immediately to others.

I will never buy HP merch that is licensed. I have skipped out on the latest Fantastic Beasts movie. I am never speaking Her name unless people somehow don't know who I'm talking about. I am learning all the things she hid through the story that are harmful.

But I am not giving up my books or movies. I am not throwing out the action figures or other licensed material I already own. I will still paint things using house colors and proudly state I am both a Ravenclaw and a Gyrffindor. I will never remove my Harry Potter fanfics from the internet.

And if that is something you cannot do, then I respect you. You have to do whatever brings you security and comfort. And for me, that is being a proud Harry Potter fan.

In fact, my fanfic penname is HPfanonezillion. Guess what the HP stands for? And I will never change that because it is a giant part of who I am and what I do.
