Why do you think Beth initiated contact? Why do you think Rio stopped her from touching him though he continued initiating contact on his own?
Heeey bestie ….
Tumblr media
Well it’s the power dynamic isn’t it? And he does it so softly it’s like who cares let him have it. I feel like he also didn’t want her doing him any “favors” like nah I don’t need a handjob distraction but you do mam and then how cute that he thinks he has control of the situation
…. we see your furrowed brow and your big slack jaw mouth you loon. Nuzzling her like a golden retriever psh
I don’t know I can only imagine the amazing dissertations that have been written on this subject by people other than me. I’m too busy screeching and hiding behind my pillow when I watch this scene to figure out what’s happening. 😂
I love it though ❤️‍🔥 I love you too El sorry it took so long.

Hey, do you think Zach celebrates his bday- like first, with his mom when he was young, second when he's at blackthorne/teen, and now after uws with cam?
Hi friend, the short answer is yes.
I think Catherine tried to celebrate Zach's birthday. At least for a few years. The important ones in her book. 1, 2, 3, 4... And then she just stops.
It's too hard to be a single mother. In her eyes it's too exhausting. She does try. But she gets tired of failing so eventually she stops. She stops trying so hard. She just doesn't quite see the point...
It started as a dinosaur coloring book. And then it was a box of hot wheels. And then it was a blanket...
By the time Zach was 8, everything became more practical. A new pair of boots. A set of throwing knives. A pack of socks...
And then she stops. She just forgets.
Zach doesn't mention his birthday. He doesn't care. But every year, he picks up a pack of cinnamon chewing gum, a singular package of peanut M&Ms, and a tiny pack of playing cards. He wanders down the halls of Blackthorne or down the streets of whatever city he's in, and he sits.
He stares at the sky, breathes deeply, and whispers a broken happy birthday...
But when Cammie finds out Zach's birthday is in November, she wastes no time in making Zach's night the best night ever. She orders burgers and fries, Chinese food, Italian food (even though its not the same as authentic Italian). And then she picks up a slice of cake, pie, a giant cookie, and a ton of ice cream from each and every grocery store, ice cream truck, and ice cream joint she could find within 45 minuets of their apartment at Georgetown. And she practically dumps it all out on the floor of their kitchen/living room. And they eat until they can't anymore. And they laugh and they talk. And they tease each other and then they just sit in silence. Until Cammie leads Zach away from the mess, pulling him to the bedroom.
Nothing happens. Nothing like that. But for once, Zach sleeps without nightmares because all he can focus on is Cammie's heart.
Beating...
Beating...
Beating...

You are so right about the do you wanna die/kinda line being one of the most honest Beth lines ever!
(x)
Oh Heatherwax, hi!!!! How've you been? I've missed your asks! 😘
I mean... Canon has established since day 1 that Beth has a blatant death wish, oh yea please do go on, shoot me, let's see what happens, BUT, somehow she spends the entirety of the series claiming that she's a mother, I'm doing this for my family, for us, blah blah blah, so the dream sequence feels like an acknowledgment, finally, of what Beth really seeks out of this?
To be fair it's a little too on the nose that she then decides to call off Nevada, but this show has never exactly been super subtle, y'know?
Anyway I really like that she so earnestly admits that she kinda wants to die, her life makes her want to die, and I like how it's then echoed in ghost!Fitzpatrick's little speech, because he saw that in her right from the start, just like Rio did, and also it ties in with the line about dying if she has to make another cookie or something, which is something she says around the end of season 4 too if I remember correctly?
So I guess that what I'm trying to say is that since Fitzpatrick was introduced, there's been this slow arc of Beth coming to terms with the fact that crime has been a matter of survival at this point, because this perfect housewife life is slowly killing her, and that is not a temporary phase, and that this darkness that she has in her and draws her towards danger and death isn't a fad either but who she is, and it all culminates in the dream sequence because it's pretty much the first time she admits it out loud? (except for the cookie line but it was said in the tone of a joke)
And the reason I'm mentioning Fitz is that he's been portrayed as an evil version of her somehow, and he's kept telling her that they were the same, which makes him some sort of a script personification that's here only to hit Beth repeatedly in the head with the truth until she actually admits it.
Although I must say that most of the show and especially season 4 is very blurry in my mind, so maybe I'm garbling complete nonsense here, who knows 😅

Annon-Guy: Would you agree Leo's personality in-game contracts with his theme, Hellfire?
While Bedman's Instant Kill in Xrd showed us his survivor's guilt, outside of that and his theme song in StrIVe about going down fighting, nothing in the Story Mode's shows him as suicidal.
I take that it is a part of his backward stance while fighting?
Leo is nobility at this point: in other words he's a KING.
That means that he has to make a Royal Presence wherever he goes AS A KING.
A King isn't allowed to show much in the way of weakness, even if there are parts of him that are still "weak".
A crown is very heavy in that regard, so too is the responsibility of carrying it for the people to protect them.
Hellfire itself is an internal struggle for Leo... he's examining his past and his true self at the same time.
Even if society thinks of him as a blowhard or a Narcissist, or perhaps even just a Liar... that's something he can't help.
He has to live in the present, even if a huge chunk of his past shaped and dictated his life.
He "begs forgiveness" to the men he led to their deaths, the people he betrayed the hopes of... this is not the Arch of Triumph... this is not the victory he promised.
Even so he marches on as a Soldier... he lives on for their sake, because he was given the chance to survive.
That's the weight of being a survivor.
Even if this King wears the hat of a fool, that crown still can protect people, can save people... and give them peace of mind.
"He flaked out. I'm calling him out"
Who (out there) can say that? Can they truly judge him? He's just an ordinary soldier.
Will he leave a mark on history?
Only time will tell.

before I start posting the 4x20 chair outfits I wanna discuss the episode. now I know this episode is fairly controversial so I just wanted to give u all my opinion on it and not pretend it didn't happen or gloss over it. so throughout the episode chuck is shown through a tilted camera angle, which is a common way of expressing someone's not in their right state of mind (gg also uses a tilted camera during the dair elevator scene to show the same thing) so we as viewers know he's not in a good place (the beard is also a sign bc he's always clean shaven) now blair doesn't know this bc she's off in princess fairytale fantasy land and isn't thinking hey maybe I should check in on my known to spiral ex to make sure he's doing ok and isn't gonna take this badly. this brings us to the glass scene. I know this is gonna potentially be controversial but I don't think it's anywhere near as horrific as ppl make out. let me explain why. chuck specifically aims away from blair. should he have grabbed her? no, but he very specifically didn't hit her or aim near her. he specifically hits the glass to get his anger out (and actually hurting himself more than her) yes I know that one shard conveniently cuts her cheek, but that's clearly for the drama. gg is a drama show where things happen purely for the drama, and the shard is just that. the way I've seen ppl talk about it u would think he got a shard of glass and cut her face himself, but he obviously didn't. if u can't understand that a shard conveniently flying off and cutting blair's face was unintentional from chuck, but used only to create drama then I'm not sure how else to explain it. yes the scene is still bad to watch, but not bc chuck's some kind of unforgivable violent monster, bc he's so lost and makes a mistake. I think it's been blown up into this huge controversial scene when it's really not. a difficult scene yes, but not one that should be labelled as abuse bc it's clearly not

How Belos’ Intense Gaslighting/Abuse Accidentally Lead him to Raise the Most Goodest Boy Possible
I’ve seen takes about how Hunter and his predecessors were just naturally good person because the person they are all cloned from was a good person regardless of his upbringing. Perhaps there could be some merit to that assessment (the whole nature vs nurture and all that) I think it’s more about how the Golden Guards were raised that just put them in the path to rebel. Regardless of Belos efforts (or lack there of depending how you look at it) it’s pretty clear how his obsessive control would only push the Grimwalkers to “betray” him. In Hollow Mind, we see brief appearances of two other Golden Guards and even if it was just for a few moments, we actively see a slight difference in how Belos talks to them and the major difference he handles Hunter in comparison to them.
The first Golden Guard we see is during the aftermath of the “wild witch attack.” At the very start, we see Belos scolding him harshly for setting off the explosions so close to the stage. Then he just immediately brushes pass to go to the next town to most likely have a similar performance, and when the Golden Guard stutteringly asks what to do with the other explosives, Belos just simply tells him to “put on a better show.” During those days, Belos didn’t even try to hide his malicious intentions from this Grimwalker, and he also had no qualms in expressing his annoyance to him so bluntly. This Golden Guard seems meek and unsure despite him ultimately going along with the destruction of the town. Coupled with how Belos treats him, it’s not surprising for this boy to someday stand against Belos because Belos doesn’t even try to give him a reason not to.
Then we have Golden Guard number two during the coven sigil scene. This moment is much more subtle, but the way Belos answers his “they’re still alive” with a “then we still have some work to do” he sounds more soft spoken. He isn’t as aggressive to this Folden Guard compared to the one we saw previously. However, he is still doing little to hide the his insidious intentions from his young protégé, and while he walks away, we see the Golden Guard hover over the poor woman before moving to follow. The motive to rebel against someone who would do such a cruel thing still plants in this boy’s heart.
Before we get to our current bad but sad boy, I feel like Darius’ mentor at least deserves an honorable mention. We unfortunately have not actually seen any scenes with the Golden Guard that came right before Hunter, but for him to seen as a mentor to Darius implies that he at least made it to his late teens, maybe even into his adult years. Going by what little we know about the man, he seemed to be one (if not the sole) inspiration to Darius becoming a rebel. Hunter openly defying Darius in favor of defending his new found friends lead Darius to state that he would make his predecessors proud. The fact that Darius used the plural form rather than just speaking specifically about his mentor leads me to believe he is at least somewhat aware of the true nature of the Golden Guard position, but I digress. What I’m getting at with this is the fact that Darius’ Golden Guard could possibly be one of the oldest any of the other Grimwalkers could have gotten before getting replaced.
Which leads us to our very own Golden boy himself, Hunter. Coming off the tails of one of the oldest Golden Guards, we have the youngest scout to ever be given the title. Belos is already trying to improve his manipulation techniques from the get go by inducting Hunter so young into true hierarchy of the Emperor’s Coven. Unlike the other past Golden Guards we are shown, Belos is for the most part very calm and “gentle” when speaking to Hunter. Only sounding more firm when he actively scolds him for failures, but even then the tone Belos takes is much more authoritative rather than openly scornful. Instead of openingly displaying his malicious intentions, Belos paints himself as the savior to all of the Boiling Isles. Sure he still loses his temper with Hunter, but even that is explained away by lying to Hunter about the nature of his “curse” so his nephew just sees him as his poor uncle who needs his help. Hunter is very much isolated in order to keep the lies planted in his head from breaking, thus keeping him devoted.
However, for as long as Philip has been perfecting this craft. For as much enough he put into making his latest Golden Guard the he loyal and loving nephew, it’s these practices that actually lead Hunter down the path of rebellion just like the others, perhaps even faster than his predecessors. Hunter being inducted into the coven so young and so completely made him truly believe that all of his actions no matter how harsh is for the sake of the greater good. Because he has no one else other than his Uncle (initially) it just motives Hunter to aid his uncle in every possible way he can, and because he was taught to do everything “for the greater good” that just inspires Hunter to research wild magic for the sake of Belos’ “curse” even though it goes against Belos’ orders. Hunter is willing to face potentially harsh punishments because he ultimately believes it will aid his Uncle. Hunter is so isolated that when he actually does gets love and support from people outside of Belos, it hits him like a truck and latches strongly onto his heart, which leads him to want to do his best for those person, despite it putting himself in harms way.
Perhaps the actual reason why every Golden Guard ultimately turns against Belos is the fact that it’s impossible to have complete control over a person ni matter how much effort is put into it. In trying so hard to keep his Grimwalkers in line, Belos has only pushed them on the path of “betrayal” due to his abusive methods catching up with him. Even the most loyal of the Golden Guards can only believe in him so much of Belos is nothing but a self righteous monster too consumed by his mission that he fails being a decent person to his “kids.”

I just think about Flapjack, Dadrius, Huntlow, and Gus-Hunter-bros so much
How each dynamic Hunter has with them parallels a previous Caleb's story, and how each dynamic is a perfect reason in Belos' eyes to kill Hunter for "betraying him", let alone the way all of them are happening at once.
--
Flapjack being the first ever source of unconditional support in Hunter's life, as well as a gateway to wild magic, something Hunter adores but isn't permitted to be around -- just like they were for Caleb centuries ago. Flapjack is scarred and was abandoned for a long time, likely all from the day Caleb was killed, and the person who inflicted this pain onto them is the same person who abused Hunter. Flapjack didn't bond with Hunter because he is made from Caleb, but because Hunter's motivations line up with Flapjack's, and they have (literally) pulled Hunter along helping him eventually build the other supports he's made.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flapjack represents the beginning of the end for both Caleb and Hunter in Belos' eyes, evident by his outburst upon seeing them. The very representation of the dangers of magic, leading Caleb away from his brother all over again.
--
Darius being the same witch that the Previous Golden Guard was the mentor of and became attached to, probably as something like a little brother or son, then ended up dying to protect. From the trauma and grief of loss, Darius kept a distant and strained relationship with Hunter for years until recently after a moment of rare rebellion from Hunter -- something we now know every grimwalker before him has also done. Now it has come full circle with Darius as the adult developing a similar attachment to Hunter as something like a son to him, and almost dying during the draining spell after sending Hunter away to protect him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Belos had to have known about the Previous Golden Guard's dedication to Darius, just as Belos knew Darius was a rebel when no one else suspected him. And now here he is, ruining another perfectly good Caleb not even two decades later.
--
Willow being a witch that Hunter, a non-witch, develops feelings of some kind for, who is brave and strong and always protecting her loved ones, including Hunter himself a number of times. Hunter, a Caleb clone, who loves wild magic and the people he's bonded with in the Boiling Isles, with Willow being the very first to be positive from the start. A perfect reflection to Caleb, the original Caleb from centuries ago, who willingly fell in love with the Boiling Isles and the people there and -- most importantly -- the witch he started a family with, who bravely tried to protect Caleb in his final moments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original sin of Caleb that got him killed in cold blood, grave robbed, and cloned for centuries afterwards was falling in love with the Boiling Isles and a witch. The ultimate betrayal, when Caleb chose this hell over his own brother.
--
Gus being a little brother to Hunter, who is sheltered and cared for and protected by this older brother figure. This isn't the first Caleb to be an older brother to someone, blood-related or not, in fact that's how this story all started. Caleb was Philip's doting older brother, who sheltered and cared for and protected him their entire childhoods through the horrors of their upbringing. But this time it's not one-sided, Gus has sheltered and cared for and protected Hunter back, he was the safe haven for Hunter to confide in after he ran away from his home, and he shared a healthy coping mechanism with Hunter for his anxiety.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gus' brothership with Hunter is a series of kindnesses that Philip didn't grant to Caleb in the end. After everything they've been through, how could Caleb choose a witch as a brother over him?
--
Willow and Gus reflect the original Caleb's story, Darius was directly involved in the last grimwalker story, and Flapjack was directly involved in the original Caleb's story. And all of them are here now for Hunter.
It was inevitable Hunter was going to be the Grimwalker to finally break the chain, with having so many direct and indirect ties to his predecessors all lined up together in his favor through a combination of extreme luck, coincidence, and his own actions to change.
It's beautiful and poetic, really.

Hello! I know you love asks (and besides I'd like to read your take on a subject) so here goes. For me, i found it just stupid the way they made Annie, Ruby, and Beth uninterested or incapable of carrying for an infant. Along comes thug Mick to save the day. I know for me, I never wanted a kid or liked one until I had one. My kids are grown now, but show me a baby and I'll be bopping noses, singing, bouncing, rocking, feeding, burping, talking baby talk like i had that baby yesterday! What did you feel about this portrayal of the women's disinterest in the the baby? Seriously lol!
Hi! I found this ask submitted on an ancient scroll I’m so sorry I take years long breaks from tumblr sometimes 😫
Yes that was SO stupid hahaha they’re all mothers 💀 I get that they were in a high-anxiety type of a situation and adding a baby to the mix was stressful asf but it was cringe how they were like
Tumblr media
However it was super cute seeing Mick take care of the baby. I do enjoy Mick doing anything really except for the wings situation.

I remember on twitter, ally said that if it is zach's pov, it would be a lot of ooh that cammie girl doesn't know shes great and I feel like it's mostly for CMH, but when do you think that thoughts turn into something more? like when he starts thinking about her in a great, romantic, i'm crushing way?
I think in the beginning Zach was just so enamored by Cammie's skills as a spy. In DC and on, when he realizes just how good she actually is. I think he admired her and her confidence as a pavement artist. Which we find out during the coin pass, when the two of them are in the gazebo.
Zach wasn't smitten with Cammie until later in CMH. But I think truly, that he was just so impressed with her and her skills. And he knew that he could make her squirm. Zach knew things about Cammie that she didn't even know herself yet. And he knew that he could get under her skin in a way that nobody else could. Like before the Code Black. In the library. When she froze with Josh, and he used that as an advantage.
Now, the ball scene when he ran after her thinking something was wrong and the gazebo scene when he said that someone out there knows about Matt. Zach was slowly giving Cammie hope that she was a good enough spy and that there was a slight possibility that Matt's disappearance wasn't over.
I think it truly hit him after the ball scene when she ran off because there was a slight possibility that he had done something wrong. That he had made her upset. That he had hurt her feelings. Or heaven forbid, she would hate him already. I think he was scared of all of those things but ultimately that Cammie would be done with him. That Cammie wouldn't care anymore. That she was done with his games. And if that was the case, Zach would have understood, and he would have left her alone. I'm a firm believer of that.
I think after the ball scene, he realized that there was just something about Cammie Morgan that he couldn't shake. There was something about her that was stuck on him. And there was no way he was going to just let that go.
Now to add to all that, there was still the gap between the two of them. The secrets that Zach was keeping and the fact that Cammie was out of the loop. But there was still something between the two of them that neither of them could shake. Something that Zach couldn't shake no matter how hard he tried. And for the first time in his life, he had a secret that nobody knew about. He had a secret that his mother didn't know about. Which is why he was so adamant about keeping the code black meeting a secret between just Cammie and him. He didn't want that finding its way back to Catherine.
I do also have more on this if you want to look at the tab under Zach's analysis on my masterlist.

Hi I’m gonna rant about Ghost Game for a second
Not to meaning to add to the endless “What the hell happened to Ghost Game????” discourse but uh, yeah I guess I am contributing to that
I have quite a bit to say about my theories on what I think went wrong and what they could’ve done better and why I desperately do not want a season 2 (I know the irony of how that looks on me) but if I wrote all that in one space I think it would be so long that even I would start begging for me to shut up
So, I’m going to split these up into more digestible categories that I’ll write whenever I’m procrastinating
In case I never get around to anything else, I’m going to start with the biggest loss to me, how I think the Digimon were supposed to influence their tamer’s personal growth and visa-versa
I’ll put the rest below the cut before I get outta hand
Tumblr media
Hiro and Gammamon: Augh. These two frustrate me the most. So much lost potential in my book, but I would feel weird putting the mc anywhere but the top of the list, so I decided to put them in the order they join the cast and therefore you get my most passionate feelings first.
Almost one of the first things we learn about Hiro as a character is how self-sacrificing he is. He’s your stereotypical mc who wants to help everyone, but the narrative points out that he’s willing to be helpful at the expense of his own wellbeing, which paints his conventionally good trait as a flaw. And that’s about all they touch on in the base show, with a lot of reading between the lines. I would’ve loved to see the ramifications of his self-sacrificing nature and have the cast point out how he’s really harming himself and stretching himself thin just to appease others. I don’t think the “being helpful is good, but not at the expense of your health” moral is touched on enough so I always get excited when stories have that as one of their themes.
And then there’s his partner, Gammamon, the exact opposite of Hiro. He’s needy, dependent, wild, and selfish at the start. He doesn’t care about others (or their belongings). He’s demanding. He’s destructive. He proves to be a handful for our polite little Hiro, especially with his dad missing and this responsibility suddenly thrusted upon him.
I would’ve loved to see Gammamon teach Hiro to be a little more selfish (or at least, more self-preserving), while Hiro teaches Gammamon to be more considerate and tame. Of course, we see Gammamon grow in this way but the story doesn’t really make it clear that it was necessarily Hiro’s doing or give much of a catalyst at all for why Gammamon has personal growth other than it would be troublesome to have such a brat as the main creature. Now, I know that Guilmon’s arc was kinda similar in that they didn’t have direct events or anything that would make him mature, but it still felt more… realistic? Tended to? Idk I’m going to force myself to move on.
Tumblr media
Ruli and Angoramon: Honestly just kinda disappointed with the lack of attention these two got in general in comparison to the other pairs, but I digress.
We meet Ruli with the impression that she’s brash, headstrong, and charismatic. She does things her way on a whim. Especially in the first few and select episodes, but in my opinion, it seemed like they kinda pushed her to the background and her personality was very passive and mild at times (and I don’t think that was on purpose).
Similarly to Hiro and Gammamon, Angoramon has quite a few contrasting personality traits. He’s softspoken, knowledgeable, and introspective. When Hiro first meets Angoramon, he doesn’t want to reveal himself because he’s nervous and doesn’t want to be a bother.
I think these two were supposed to balance each other out. Ruli would learn to think about things more and not run in half-cocked, maybe start to appreciate the more slow and peaceful things in life like nature and reading (Yeah Ruli, don’t think I forgot about that scene where Angoramon wanted you to read one of his favorite books and you DIDN’T and never DID). Meanwhile, Angoramon would come out of his shell more from sticking around Ruli. Possibly learn not to be so overbearing? Idk, honestly I don’t think Angoramon has as much room for growth because he seems the most level-headed character in the cast.
Lastly,
Tumblr media
Kiyoshiro and Jellymon: Now, I know I have some bias toward these two so it might seem I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt but I’m going to try to come at them as objectively as I can.
They kinda half-executed what I think they were going for with these two, so they don’t offend me as much (which I think is part of the reason why I like them so much), but a full written out arc between them would’ve been a dream.
Kiyoshiro at the beginning of the series is, well, a sniveling inconsolable scaredy cat. On top of that, he’s kind of cocky and stuck up, obsessed with order and somewhat an introvert (to a lesser extent and differently than angoramon, in the “can’t relate to other humans” kinda way). Outside of his flaws, he is at least kind and pure of heart (I mean his name more or less means “pure white”) with a strong sense of justice and morals.
Jellymon, the devil creature, is so chaotic her intro episode goes right for the “everyone is going to die and it’s all Jellymon’s fault” thing. She has her moments of scheming and kinda like Gammamon, is pretty selfish and demanding with hints of Ruli’s recklessness as well.
As far as their canonic growth goes, Jellymon’s the only one that sees the bravery in her darling, which helps him nurture that courage and cast aside some of his fears (which, yay they actually kinda do in the series albeit pretty indirectly and kinda inconsistently). Also, the narrative never outright says Kiyo is lonely but he surely doesn’t have any companions, but we can see him grow on his partner and admit that it’s nice to have such a close friendship (pretty sure the whole “I like humans” thing was directed at Jellymon, even though she’s not human shhhhh it makes sense I promise)
Now for what they didn’t really touch on, I think these two were supposed to break each other’s stubbornness. I think Jellymon was supposed to show Kiyo how to relax more and not become so absorbed in studies/research and such. We meet him already knowing he has a love for anime, idols and the like so I’m not sure if he could really learn the lesson to appreciate more of the little things, but maybe she’d show him to love some more like, people-centered type things? (I mean she does love festivals). On the flip side, I think Kiyo was supposed to use not his classroom knowledge, but his personal knowledge to show Jellymon all there is to love about humanity outside of their monetary worth and give her a genuine love for the human world. Oh yeah, and teach her to stop scamming people.
“”””I’m gOinG tO tRy To LiMiT mY BiAs oN KiYoSHiRo aNd jElLyMoN”””””””” *Proceeds to spend half my rant talking about Kiyoshiro and Jellymon even though I think they did them pretty well*
Anyway, would love to hear other’s opinions on this as well as if it seems like I’m reaching and there weren’t supposed to be arcs like this. I just feel like the characters are too inherently flawed and contrast too perfectly with their Digimon for them not to have intended some more character-centered personal growth arcs.
I’m sorry and thank you for reading my dumb thoughts.

i’m just going to quickly dissect the moments that made me so normal about the scene with sanji and zoro in episode 1057:
- they decided to focus on zoro getting hit because he got distracted picking up the transponder snail. this just before he tells sanji to not bother him. but as soon as he hears what he has to say, he gasps. he’s shocked. it’s like his synapses just stop for a moment. and his reaction to the request “you must kill me”  is to burst back, full force, and shout. which reflects how he feels about the request i think
- this is actually such an intense response that sanji has to call him back to reality right after
- zoro’s delivery of the line “you better not die till then” is not shouted as it appears to be in manga, but a lot softer yet still determined. which i think changes the tone of the scene and overall makes it a lot more intimate
- as someone probably already pointed out, what sanji says at the end of the scene is not your typical “thanks” as it was subbed, but in japanese that specific expressions means “sorry to burden you”. which reflects sanji’s personality a lot and his awareness that he’s not asking just anything out of zoro
- finally the parallel transition showing both of them with their back towards the viewer, hinting at the fact that they’re both looking at the future ahead of them and how they both know they will be facing it all together no matter what happens

Like a Weed Naturally, As a Matter of Course Analysis
Lyrical Analysis for Testament's strive theme! Just my own interpretation 😋
It's not evil or sacred, it's just life
A turmoil between light and dark- Justice can be seen as something sacred herself, yet also evil. It’s just life reflects Testament’s newly found outlook on the world around them, deciding that it is just that- Life.
He just doesn't defy the gravity of something
The notion of not defying gravity alludes to something unremarkable. There is no spectacle to be had, and no changes to be made. “Something” is vague, and shows us that there are no specifics in what is being shown in its unremarability.
Life (sustenance)
Life (respected)
sustenance is needed for survival, and respect is something that we all strive for. These coming after life shows that it is both a necessity, and something we should all try to obtain in whatever way. Could also mean a respect for life; embracing it wholly, the good and bad.
It's drawn to each other
Ubiquity
Respect and sustenance are drawn to each other, ubiquity meaning everywhere at once. Life is full of sustenance and respect to be had- Meaning necessity and want, opposites.
Life (radiant)
Life (existence)
Radiance and Existence again are not mutually exclusive, yet pose an opposing line of thought. We deem those ‘radiant’ things as unreachable, such as angels and gods, yet we live in our own existence separate from them. This is also just listing the complicated nature of life itself, full of opposing ideas, yet all coming together in ‘life’ itself. Testament is trying to understand what it means to truly live,
She doesn't need a name to distinguish him
The mismatched pronouns represent Testament themself. A name is something used to represent and address someone- But Testament feels that they don’t need that to distinguish themselves from everyone else. They are different, and they know everyone else can see it. They also feel distinguished in themself, not needing a name or a number to know their place in the world.
Oh, she flies through the proud darkness
Rather than the breathless vastness of the world
The world is at their fingertips to explore and learn from now, but that darkness of their past and what they are is real. Instead of hiding from it, Testament embraces the darkness, finding pride in it and soaring through it, not wanting to ignore that part of themself and their past. Coming to terms with the world and finding your place in it can coexist with not wanting to hide away the things that set you apart.
And yet he did not reject the light herself
He believes she is one of a chain
Despite owning their own darkness, Testament does not reject the light of those who have helped them become as free as they are now, and the rest of life. They have left their isolation and depression to explore the world and find themselves, yet they hold onto that introverted core that makes them them.
Believing that they are one of a chain is in reference to them being another link in a grander scheme- A singular piece in a wider puzzle.
It's no exception
It's just less
The new things Testament has found are not an exception to their preconceived notions on the world, they’re simply lesser now- The world does not need to be cleansed, but there are acknowledgeable problems. They know this now, and this was something told to them initially by Justice, who is referenced in the next line.
I guess you can't trust a gentle tiger
People may come to you with violent ideas and powerful ideology, but no matter how kind they seem, their wrongdoings are wrong. This is reference to Jusice, and how she mislead Testament for many years, and used them as a tool for her own gain.
[Prechorous repeats]
Rulers are afraid of the wind
For the (for the)
Rustling (rustling)
(Trees) of the trees would take the night
From them
People in power are scared of the natural order of things, and fear that if people knew the truth, they would reject totalitarianism. Night is often used to represent unknowing, so nature taking the ‘night’ would insinuate that the darkness is lifted, and people would see how order is corrupting their view. Another reference to Justice? Maybe the crusades as a whole.
Oh he flies, to be the wings of the flightless
Testament now strives to be unapologetically free and themselves for all those who cannot, including a younger version of themself.
Fly high
To be seen from everywhere
Not much to say on this one, links back to the previous line, with the addition of letting the world see their true nature. A note to add that flight is obviously associated with the sky, wind, air- Easily ties back to rulers are afraid of the wind.
She just tells them he's there
Without whispering
Announcing one's presence to the world and life without any shame, Testament is Testament, and they won’t be shy about being a half gear anymore.
He believes she's one of a chain
As stated previously.
[Guitar solo and Chorus repeat]
He flies
At night to see the sun of tomorrow
Testament is going through life, come what may. They are comfortable in the dark and at night, but the sunrise of ‘tomorrow’ shows that they are embracing all that is new and exciting about life and themself.
He never wanted a special day
Testament used to be special, but they never wanted that. They want normality, and to simply exist- Furthered by the next line.
She just wants to be there
Like a weed, naturally, as a matter of course
Weeds are natural, and insignificant marks on the earth. Testament wants to live naturally and without importance anymore, simply just being themselves in the natural order of life.
Weeds are also usually something people hate, which could allude to them still feeling detested and unwanted on the planet, yet natural. Hate is normal, and not everybody is going to like you- But that does not mean you don’t have a right and a place on the earth.
He believes we're one of a chain
We are all links in the chain- equal parts of a grander scheme. This is how Testament views life- Insignificant and with everyone being on the same level- Alive.
(Matter of course)
She believes we're one
(Matter of course)
We are all one in the world, and live by the natural order, for good or bad.
Thats it! Testament the nihilist ever 🫡

hey i’m a new gg fan and i’m wondering what’s ur perspective on the relationship between sol and sin in comparison to ky and sin. i’ve seen people say sol was a shitty dad and i’ve heard he literally threw sin into a tree. but also from my understanding ky gave up sin to sol. idk where the line between canon and fanon starts, so i’m a bit lost. do you think sol was a good parent?
Okay, from early on, the circumstances were that Ky had no choice but to rely on Sol as a foster parent… it wasn't so much that Ky was "giving up" on raising Sin, so much as he was worried that Sin's existence would become public and that people around them might do something bad to Sin because of his Half-Gear origins.
This also applied to Dizzy, which is why she also went in to hiding even after Dr. Paradigm unsealed her from the Thundersealed-Sword which had been protecting her from Valentine's Sublimation.
Initially, Sol had absolutely no experience raising a child, even putting a leash chain on Sin because of his meandering… this wasn't because Sol had enmity towards Sin… it was just simply because Sol didn't know what else to do with a growing Boy who was ALSO a Gear with superhuman strength and ability.
Sin later recounts a point when he was being bullied by kids "similar in age", and Sol "settled the dispute" by mildly beating up both Sin and the bullies he encountered (which ironically caused them to mutually become friends)… this wasn't Sol being hostile… this was Sol's "solution" to the situation.
Sol was… for most of his life, very isolated from other people, so he had his own beliefs and ways of doing things… crude but efficient were his methods.
Now, what makes Sol different from an "abusive parent" or "fully dysfunctional parent" is the idea that Sol lived the same lifestyle that Sin did.
Even if Sin gets excited about something strange like Sugar/Salt Water… that was ALSO Sol's solution to drinking instead of investing in fancy drinks and sodas which were probably NOT cost-effective when living a nomadic lifestyle.
No matter what things Sol did to Sin… they still lived together (ate and slept together), no matter where they went.
Sol is also a Scientist by nature… so most of what he does FOLLOWS HARD LOGIC, rather than simply being sentimental or considering the emotional state of other people.
This, was also something factored in by Sin's growing nature and powers… Sol KNEW that Sin could potentially be dangerous if he wasn't watched carefully.
As a result… Sol's abrasiveness and caution caused Sin to develop a more lighthearted, playful, and easy-going personality.
Though, behind the scenes, Sin developed a dark grudge against his biological father, Ky, because of the circumstances… Sin tried his best not to focus on his current situation and simply adapted as well as he could.
Sol was aware of Ky's struggles, but because of the situation, he ALSO had no choice but to face Sin's hatred of Ky head-on, justified or otherwise.
Sol basically acted as a barrier between Sin getting revenge on Ky early on… and that probably wasn't easy, given how strong Sin was becoming.
There was even a point when Sin asked about the nature of Gears to Sol… and Sol was confronted with the sins of his own past.
Of course, Sol had to explain that humans hate Gears because of the Crusades… there was no getting around that to someone like Sin.
Even if it seems like Sol never pulls his punches (or is crude), this time he did that… in ways that are hard to see, but still there.
One of those ways was forcing Sin to go fight alongside Ky on the battlefield against the Vizuel Army (Valentine's Army).
This gave Sin an opportunity to see Ky for who Ky really was… not a faulty irresponsible father, but a Knight, a Warrior, struggling to survive in a harsh world for the sake of those he cares for.
Being a King was secondary to all of that.
Sin, even if Sol is who he is, can still see the old man's efforts to connect father to son.
That's also why Sin can be worried for Sol's sake as well, which is why he got upset at Sol concerning Elphelt and Ramlethal for their sakes.
It wasn't so much that Sol cherry-picks whom his friends and family are… Sol doesn't THINK about that sort of thing, it's not in his nature as a loner.
It was Ky who later confronted Sol about it (especially with regard to Sol's choice to spare Dizzy's life, which is what created Sin in the first place).
Sol, of course, realizes he made a few mistakes along the way (like Sin's lack of a solid well-rounded education)… but even after the fact, Sol does his best to make up for those things (in his own abrasive ways).
In some ways, this way of life also inspired Sin though… a desire to become as strong as Sol, even! To surpass his father, Ky… to surpass his Mother, Dizzy!
It isn't so much that Sin is naturally competitive, as it is that he likes to encounter EVERYONE and make friends with EVERYBODY.
Even Ky's religious beliefs in God touched Sin's heart… so that is ALSO a part of whom Sin is now (which is also something he shared with Ramlethal, which changed her ways of thinking).
In the end… nobody is perfect as a parent… there's always going to be bumps and roughness along the way… but to truly become an ideal parent is to acknowledge that and still move forward and STILL CARE about one's FAMILY and do things as best they can.
Sol did and still does that… and now, after 171 years… Sol can finally make friends alongside his family.
