Finished Lord of Emperors - the second book in the Sarantine Mosaic by Guy Gavriel Kay - this evening while waiting to ring in the new year. I feel like I've been punched in the gut. File that duology under "Books That Altered My Brain Chemistry."

Tigana isn't one of GGK's books I usually list among my favorites (that honor goes to the Sarantine Mosaic and it's not-sequels) but there's an intensity of emotion right off the bat in Tigana that I don't get the same sense of with his later works. I don't think the development of this restraint is a bad thing, the intensity of Tigana can also come off as overwrought or mauldlin to some people, which is part of why I don't generally recomend it as a first book for people who haven't read anything else by Kay. But if you enjoy writing that revels in the beauty that can be crafted out of language and also want to experience ten different emotions you didn't know human beings were capable of within the span of fifty pages I think Tigana is still the way to go.

I used to really like Guy Gavriel Kay as a writer (his prose is so poetic if a little bloated) but sometimes I look at my little collection of his books and think to all the really gross sex shit that's in them. I've always had a high tolerance for smut, literally it does not faze me whatsoever (it does make me laugh pretty hard sometimes tho), but the way men write sex scenes is criminal

#I cannot in good faith recommend ggk's books lmao #they're too scrotey #then again I could say the same about most modern fantasy series lmao #this kinda started in the 70s and it hasn't stopped. alas #I had to stop reading the first chronicles of amber book because of this kind of thing :-T

PW’s SJF

@Lidija Rotherford told me that ppl would like to hear about my results in shows, so now I'm gonna make a list of the last show I entered  Sorry to those who find it boring, just skip it if you like! 

So I entered this show called PW's SJF, and we had a lot of fun!

First horse up was BOE Sailor Moon with his rider Liam Walker. He entered the 1.30m class, and came home with a placing as 4th!

Next one up was me riding BOE Quirky Kiss as I always do. He was a dream in the arena, and we took home 1st place in our class 1.30, actually beating Sailor Moon, which I wouldn't think was possible, if you had asked me the day before. Liam is such an amazing rider, and he normally beats me xD

Third up was an not homebred horse. @Sarah Nagasaki is his breeder, and we are very proud to have him with us. 

 Please say hello to NREC Bugatti Veyron, and I am of course riding him. He is my horse after all, haha. He got placed as 2nd in the 1.20m class, and I'm very proud. His first 2nd placing ever!

Riding one of the horses nearest to my heart is Mary Addams. She is riding BOE Tetris. His damn is my now retired but very best girl and showhorse BOE Tetra. 

He got placed as 3rd in 1.10m class.

And last one up was BOE Sailor Venus also ridden by Mary Addams. He is currently up for sale, if anyone is interested btw. 

 He took home a 2nd placing, beating the more experienced BOE Tetris somehow. He really is a star, and will probably take home a good placing at 08-30 CTJL Crema in Italy too!

Oh and I almost forgot the ponies who entered! First pony up was Haldbæk's Thor ridden by my daughter Calypso Cole. They got 1 place in 1.10m! (redigeret)

And then there was GGK Hecate, also ridden by my daughter, who came home with a 4th placing. This was her first show with Hecate, and they did very well if I should say so myself.

The last one up was not a pony, but this was one was one of the horses I had forgotten. This was Calypso's first time entering with young BOE Armand de Brignac, and her first time entering with a horse. Until then she had only entered with the ponies.

Aaand I forgot the picture of Calypso and Thor, so here it is! Sorry, seriously!
