If I listed it all like this (?): Would it all make sense?
GG1
v (Inspired)
GGX ^ (Retake of Events/Not a Retelling)
v (Made a Spinoff)
GGPetit1+2 (Mini GGX basically with expy characters)
v (Made a Sequel)
GGXX (has its own branching possible stories)
v (Made a Patch Update)
GGXXReload (just an update but took out an old character)
v (Made a Spinoff)
GGIsuka (has spinoff characters)
v (Made a Patch Update)
GGXXSlash (brought spinoff character and new character)

GGXXACPlus (Story which continues BASED on SOME GGXX events but not everything)
v (Made an Arcade Port)
GGXXACPlusR (Arcade-rebalanced/Cross Platform Nothing else added)
v (Spinoff Gaiden Content)
GG Novels/DramaCDs/Books/Manga (some take place after AC)
v (Finally Decided to Make a Direct Sequel of GG1)
GG2 Overture (^ Limited Sequel of GG1 but doesn't include much from older games' interpretations)
v (Yet another Spinoff)
GGVastEdge (Just barely organized its info between GG2 and Xrd... but is actually unorganized)
v (More Gaiden Content)
Unseen Sign/GG Begin (some take place before GG1 and after VastEdge)
GGXrdSign (partial interpretation of GG2's events and all past GGXXAC events)
v (Direct Sequel)
GGXrdRevelator (spins its own take of Sign's events)
v (Slapdash Patch Update)
GGXrdRev2 (^ same as Revelator but "borrows" its own Interpretation of GGX events and adds After Story content)
v (Incomplete Ongoing Sequel)
GGStrive (interprets "some" of Xrd's events its own way "but not all" and some older GG events get reinterpreted)
It looks like a huge stack of Lego blocks... but the point I'm trying to make here is that GG Strive is its own Story Interpretation of previous events. Just as Xrd interprets GG2 and GGXXAC events, just as GGXXACPlus interprets XX events and even has its own interpretation of GG1 events...
They all have their own phrasing and interpretation of previous events.
Whether you accept the "current take" (current story) or only accept the "previous take" of how the characters were or used to be like... welp, that's ENTIRELY UP TO YOU.
For my Money, however... I'm still waiting for Strive's BIGGER PICTURE (the full roster) to develop before I determine what I think... but if future games/content/Gaiden/spinoffs make their own interpretation of Strive's events and "change little things" along the way... that's bound to happen as well.
