Yes, I am a gamer. My current obsessions are Legend of Zelda (BOTW/TOTK), Stardew Valley, Spyro the Dragon, Sly Cooper, and Genshin Impact.
I also know about a variety of other video games from my husband, including but not limited to: Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Ghosts of Tsushima, Remnant (I and II), Armored Core 6, EDF, Helldivers (I and II), and all the ones I mentioned previously as well 💍 ✨

hey mei, what are your top 10 favourite video games?
1. Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild - Loved everything about it!! The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is amazing, and the story is easy to understand without playing the other games. I have Tears of the Kingdom, but for some reason, I prefer BOTW much more. Also, the soundtrack is absolutely amazing beyond words!! The one that plays whenever a Ruin Guardian spots you sort of gave me PTSD. Whenever I hear it, I can't help but look towards the source of the sound, get up, and run for my life.
2. Ghost of Tsushima - Everything about this game is a 10/10, but I really liked the combat in particular! There are so many ways you can kill someone, from silently assassinating them to poisoning them to beheading them. Even after the main story, there are still so many side quests and content that are just as fun. Jin Sakai is also very cool and I love how he abandoned his honor as a samurai to protect the people.
3. Eastward - Definitely a must-play if you have a Nintendo Switch. The graphics are unique and colorful yet also somewhat mellow at times. The music is great. All of the characters are so fleshed out and lovable. Not to mention the amount of content in the game, where you have at least one other game inside of it. There's the Earthbound(?) (I forgot what it was called) game inside of the arcades which I still haven't been able to finish to this day, and the Octopia DLC (Really cheap by the way, it was 20$ last time I checked) which is basically a whole other farming game.
4. Honkai Impact 3rd - Of course, HI3 is one of my favorite games. The gacha is very generous compared to other games, the rewards are really good, and the rest speaks for itself. Just the story alone would be enough to make it into my top 10. Story aside, I really love the characters and their designs. Their designs reflect their personality perfectly and all of them are just so lovable. Watching Kiana grow up so mature within only 2 years gives me such an odd feeling. I'm so proud of her, but at the same time, where has the "cheerful idiot" Kiana gone? It feels like only yesterday I was playing through the story and she refused to eat the meal Durandal gave her because there was no one to remove the bones of the fish like Mei usually did.
5. Stardew Valley - Call me basic, but I really fell in love with everything about this game. The music in particular makes me feel so oddly nostalgic. I also have a lot of good memories associated with it. It's one of those games that I play on and off but always end up enjoying no matter what, especially with the use of modding.
6. Dead Cells - Loved it! The combat is so fluid, the monsters are all so unique, the animations are so smooth for a pixel art game, and everything about the gameplay is so enjoyable. I'm a sucker for these types of games, honestly. I sadly haven't had the time to play it for a while now, though...
7. Subnautica - I'm not sure if this counts because even though I have a copy of the game, I've made almost zero progress on it. This is mostly only on my list because I'm a really big fan of sea exploration stuff. I was also particularly obsessed with the idea of making the Cyclops fully self sufficient.
8. Minecraft - I had such a big Minecraft phase back then. I would wear merch to school and sing those parodies thinking I was so cool. No wonder I didn't have any friends during that period of my life. Still, I actually wasn't able to buy the game until like... 2018. I think this would be higher on the list if I had people to play it with and if I could recover my account for it.
9. Animal Crossing : New Horizons - I was obsessed with it during the pandemic, but nowadays I play it on and off. As much as I like the older games, being able to freely place furniture outside is life changing. It's also way easier to change outfits because you can actually see what you're wearing. Not to mention, the graphics are way cuter.
10. Osu! - I got into it because a guy I liked did and ended up becoming better than him. I mostly.played standard, but mania was also fun from time to time. I was ranked at around 4 digits before I had to stop because people were complaining that my keyboard was being way too loud. I just didn't have the money to get a new one at the time, so I ended up deleting the game. Really fun, though! There's a mode for everyone.
Rules: Tag some people you want to know better and/or catch up with, then answer the questions below!
Last Song - the Way of the Ghost from the Ghost of Tsushima soundtrack. I love this soundtrack.
Three ships: I’m shipping OCs pretty hard atm but as no one knows them… Alexidas, Alexithenes and Zagares are my all time faves, but with a few exceptions, almost anything involving Alexios & Ares I’m interested in reading.
Currently Reading: A short story collection called First Love & other stories by Ivan Turgenev. Russian, from ~1850. Nearly done with it. It’s very good.
Last Movie: Rewatched Dunkirk. I love it so much. I could wax lyrical but it’s too early lol
Craving: coffee! Still haven’t had the first of the day.
I think nearly everyone i know has been tagged for this so just a couple @woodsman2b @myriath Hope you’re both well 🤍
Shuffle your favorite playlist and post the first five songs that come up. Then copy/paste this ask to your favorite mutuals. ♥
I don't have a playlist TT_TT
But five songs off the top of my head:
Rats, Ghost
Last Unicorn, Cover by Ninja Sex Party
Ghost of Tsushima Soundtrack
When Love is Gone, Muppets Christmas Carol (don't judge me the vinyl just got a reprint, LOL)
American Idiot, Green Day
Isn’t this the set that you get after hearing a nod to Gehrman’s theme in the soundtrack or am I crazy??? I only played this game all the way through once and I swear I remember them playing that theme on flute for about five seconds….
A lot of you are probably scratching your heads right now wondering what the hell this is. Well, let's just say that an obscure PS2 series made its return after almost 20 years of inactivity. And Gungrave G.O.R.E feels like it picks up right after 2004's Gungrave Overdose in all but graphics.
To briefly provide some context, Gungrave is a series of third-person shooter games and is the brainchild of Red Entertainment and Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun. The player assumes control of Beyond The Grave (Grave, for short), a corpse who has been resurrected to enact his revenge on the organization that had him killed and to destroy the drug that made all of this possible, Seed. Equipped with two hand cannons named Cerberus and a transforming coffin-shaped weapon named Death Hauler, the player engages in stylish gunplay inspired by the films of directors John Woo and Robert Rodriguez, with Grave himself bearing resemblance to Antonio Banderas's character El Mariachi from Desperado.
Despite the game seemingly being made on a rather small budget, Gungrave G.O.R.E features an alumni of legendary game producers, with Yasuhiro Nightow (Trigun) returning as image director, Ikumi Nakamura (Ghost of Tsushima) creating many of the character designs, Tetsuya Shibata (Devil May Cry) and Yoshino Aoki (Mega Man Battle Network) composing much of the soundtrack, and select cutscenes being animated by Digic Pictures (Assassin's Creed).
Gungrave G.O.R.E has had a rather unique development, being a console game developed by a South Korean studio, Iggymob. I encourage you to check out this video by Blue that goes a little bit into how Gungrave G.O.R.E came to be and why the fact that this is a Korean console game is more interesting than it may seem. They've included their sources in the description for further reading.

Looking at what director Kay Kim has had to say about Gungrave G.O.R.E's development, you can tell this was a game developed by the fans for the fans. When Gungrave G.O.R.E was first announced, it was slated to be an open-world game similar to Dark Souls. Later, taking influence from the likes of Metal Gear Rising, Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry, it was decided that the game would revert to its original linear mission-based structure. Kim has gone on record to say that the original open-world version of the game was "terrible" and expressed concern that this isn't what a Gungrave fan who has been waiting 20 years for another installment would want to play.
This is not something that a greedy businessman who bought the rights to a long-gone game series to cash in on nostalgia would ever care about. Gungrave G.O.R.E, whether it's a good game or a bad game, is a passion project before anything else. When this game first released last year, it was rough and naturally received patches over time. And these patches universally only heavily improved the game, such as making Grave's moveset more versatile, making the controls more accessible, and heavily altering levels to the point where some sections such as those that required Grave to platform were simply removed.
The game is in odd state at the moment. The original release on consoles and PC were published by Prime Matter, and earlier this year they released Gungrave G.O.R.E: Ultimate Enhanced Edition on the Nintendo Switch, which includes "over 100 changes" to the game including further improvements to the game's controls, further alterations to level design, new mechanics, and extra playable characters such as Gungrave Overdose's Rocketbilly Redcadillac, and Harry MacDowell. This is odd because not only are these magnitude of changes exclusive to U.E.E, which is only on Switch, Iggymob self-published this release.
I don't know what the future has in store for Gungrave or Studio Iggymob, but let us take today and every day after to celebrate that Gungrave G.O.R.E even happened because of them. Thank you for being the reason my new favorite game series made such a kick-ass return, and godspeed on future endeavors.

Top 10 Video Games of All Time: bobgoesw00t Edition (Part 04)
I’M BACK EVERYONE WITH PART FOUR OF THIS SERIES!!!!!!! Gonna get right down to things and let you all know my Number 07 Video Game of All Time goes to:
Ghost of Tsushima or Assassin’s Creed without actually being Assassin’s Creed.
When I first heard about this game back when it was announced, I was excited and intrigued, and knowing that it was from Sucker Punch, the same studio that did the inFamous games (my favorite Superhero games that doesn’t involve a Marvel or DC character), I knew I was gonna be in for a treat. Then we went for what felt like an eternity before we FINALLY got some gameplay footage at E3 one year and HOLY FUCKING HELL WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT!!! From that point on, my excitement for this game only escalated with each preview I watched/read and I was super excited to play it because I knew that if this game did well, it had the potential to influence another franchise I love…but that’s for later.
The game finally came out, I got it for my birthday and what else can I say other than, YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME!!!!!!! Not only is the story PERFECTION, the cast of characters are well written, you TOTALLY side with Jin when he makes the various decisions he does across the game, the soundtrack is phenomenal, game play is fine tuned to a T and when it comes to stealth, you can’t NOT make comparisons to Assassin’s Creed and it’s obvious that the team at Sucker Punch must have fans of the franchise and used it as an inspiration for how they approached the way of the “Ghost” that Jin goes down.
They also do a perfect job pacing when you get new abilities for Jin to use and one never feels overpowered when you put it next to a different one. The Half Bow is awesome for taking out Mongols that might spot you before you commit to going for an Assassination and the Longbow works perfectly as a Sniper Bow. As for the one on one duels that are scattered across the game, GOOD GOD those are intense and it’s SUPER satisfying when you finally finish your opponent, which is made even better with Jin cleaning his Katana and/or slowly sheathing the weapon in a dramatic fashion.
Lastly, I want to talk about the one thing Ghost of Tsushima has that most other games that came out around and after don’t have. VISUALS THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT OUT A DOUBT, THE MOST FUCKING GORGEOUS YOU’LL EVER SEEN IN A VIDEO GAME!!!!! HOLY HELL, THE COLORS AND PARTICLE EFFECTS IN THIS GAME ARE FUCKING INSANE AND THANK GOD THEY INCLUDED A PHOTO MODE!!!!! I can’t count the number of times when I’ve been running around, only to stop and take a screenshot due to how FUCKING GORGEOUS THE GAME IS!!!!!!! I’ve already posted PLENTY of screenshots here on tumblr so I HIGHLY encourage you to go look at them.
Before I give the score, I have to address the elephant in the room…that being how Ghost of Tsushima is literally Assassin’s Creed without ACTUALLY BEING ASSASSIN’S CREED. As I already mentioned, one of the reasons I was super excited for this game was due to the influence it might have on a certain franchise going forward…that franchise being Assassin’s Creed. Back in 2011, Ubisoft sent out a survey asking fans which location and time setting they would like to see in future games, with the top results being, WW II, Feudal Japan and Ancient Egypt. The Creative Director of AC3 said those were the worst settings the franchise could go…only for AC Origins to eventually come out and prove that statement was a load of bullshit and it ended up being one of the best locations in the series. The one location on the list that A LOT of fans knew could work was Feudal Japan (myself included) and we’ve had to wait forever…and ever…and ever…and ever for some hint if the next game would go there… So when Ghost of Tsushima came out and both sold well AND got near perfect reviews, I knew this would show Ubisoft that an Assassin’s Creed Game set in Japan could ACTUALLY WORK. And then we went back to waiting…and waiting…and waiting…and waiting…until our patience has FINALLY PAYED OFF when back in September, Ubisoft announced ASSASSIN’S CREED: CODENAMED RED!!!!!
I can’t help but think that the decision to finally make an entry with this setting was partially influenced by Ghost of Tsushima. We’ll have to wait a while to see if that’s the case cause the game won’t be coming out until AT LEAST 2024, as Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the title Ubisoft is releasing next year.
As for Ghost of Tsushima, regardless of it was indeed influenced by Assassin’s Creed and it will in turn, influence Codename Red, it’s still an awesome game with visuals that are still the most FUCKING GORGEOUS I’VE EVEN SEEN. When I take all the various aspects the game does perfectly, I can’t help but give Ghost of Tsushima Five Ghost Stance beheadings out of Five.
Honorable Mentions today are:
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: this game took the best parts of Origins, enhanced what needed to be, and expanded the world to insane proportions. The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is THE INSANE AMOUNT OF GRINDING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO REACH LEVEL 99!!!!! That and the stupidly high amount of money and materials that are needed to fully upgrade the ship and your equipment.
Bayonetta 2: It took everything people loved about the first game and bumped it up to eleven, and got rid of the more annoying aspects when it came to combat. Not to mention Moon River Infinite Climax Mix is THE PERFECT SONG TO OPEN THE GAME UP!!!!!!
