Ive been rewatching s2 and it’s just Will really went through a crucible in the asylum: he had this terrible awful knowledge of what was happening and he was pleading to every one he knew to listen and it. It was still only Hannibal who was listening and the minute someone did listen (Bev) Hannibal immediately and quickly removed that threat and taunted Jack again by placing her at the observatory. like the observatory being a tie to Abel, to Miriam, to Jack’s inability to listen when Will talks and the subsequent punishment Hannibal will give out if he does and the only other person we see believe Will is Bedelia who doesn’t (won’t) do anything about it so Will’s left with an anchor as a lifeline of course he drowns in it of course he becomes just as obsessed with Hannibal in those moments it’s like crying wolf and the wolf says i know i know you are right and i will make them pay attention

Out of all the people on the team, Jay had by far the most experience with sensory issues. The side-effects of his element were plentiful, and most of them affected his senses in all of the wrong ways. He couldn’t count the amount of times he would be blinded by the bright flash of his lightning, any other light aggravating his head the next day. Other times he would be deafened by the thunderclaps that rolled across the sky whenever he summoned a big bolt, and he would have his headphones on for the next week to block all of the noise out. Skin crawling from any extra stimulation from his clothes, Jay would be resigned to a life of living in hoodies and boxers if he let too much of the electricity through his nerves.

So you would think that if Cole was having sensory issues, Jay would be the first person that he would go to.

But he didn’t.

Rather than go to Jay for any sort of advice or information on how to help himself. Cole decided that the better option was to withdraw into himself and pretend like everything was fine. And what made it even worse was that Jay could feel Cole struggling to cope with it. Every time Cole would turn down physical contact Jay felt his heart squeeze, even though he knew that it wasn’t really what Jay was feeling. Empathy sucked sometimes, but it sucked even worse whenever there was someone bottling something up; Jay always, always knew when his family was doing that.

They did it more often than they should, but Jay was not about to restart the debate about getting them all into therapy.
