Drew an npc: one of my PCs’ mother. They had a falling out, but last session had tentative but touching reunion.
She’s a Halfling Paladin of a moon/secrets goddess (Valmunas) and always wears a veil in public.
Version without the veil:

The greatest moment of my D&D experience happened last Friday
I don’t think my DM was even prepared for a year’s worth of random bone collecting my character Sam had been doing. Let me preface this story that the DM our campaign started with is not the DM who we’re currently with - our new DM was a previous player in our campaign.
We’re moving into a new chapter for our campaign and needed everyone there for it - unfortunately, one of the players couldn’t make it so we had to do a side quest for the session. This side-quest came from Ghostfire Gaming’s Lairs of Etharis where there’s been a string of killings that involved victim’s tongues being cut out. Now these people weren’t “good” people; these were liars, cheats, etc. who didn’t hold up bargains.
My character Sam is a Trickery Cleric/Undead Warlock - so she’s essentially a rogue in everything but the name. We set up a plan for her to cheat at cards, but she’s TOO good at what she does (this was our dumb mistake lol) and we had another player cause a scene. She was disguised as a “fallen” party member that our DM used to play (his 1st character) that she normally dons when she’s doing shady things. As this character, Varis, she puts on a show that she’s stumbling around various alleys as bait for this creature/thug/vigilante to strike. One thing she’s not good at? Strength. So she got grappled and her tongue cut out.
This sucks for 2 reasons:
1. She’s missing her dang tongue!
2. She’s a spell-caster - kinda need your tongue to cast Verbal spells 🙃
Most of Sam’s spells are V,S,M or V, M - not great when you need to kill something to get your tongue back. That WAS until I saw a spell on my character sheet that only had S,M on it… what was that spell you ask? Ghostly Grasp (pretty sure that’s also from Lairs of Etharis). I got the spell because I thought it would be funny to choke enemies out with skeleton hands…but the FUNNIEST bit was the Material component: A FINGER BONE & CLOTH. Things Sam most definitely had a lot of on hand 😂 When it got to my turn in initiative, my DM sighed and asked what I had planned, as I was giggling uncontrollably after learning I could cast a spell. So it plays out like this:
Me: “Soooooo, you know all those bones I’ve been collecting?”
DM: “Yes…”
Me: “Finger bones specifically…” *giggles more*
DM: “Yes…”
Me: “I’m going to cast Grasping Ghost at the guy who stole my tongue.”
DM: “Well you don’t have your tongue so you can’t-“
Me: “Well, actually…” where I proceed to read out the spell needs.
DM: *facepalms* “God dammit”
Our whole group starts laughing as this was just the most perfect turn of events - the bone stealing was always seen as sus and no one ever knew why Sam did it, but this just solidified not questioning her actions.
The other funny thing from this session was the player who is the Ranger of the group, before any of the above happened, saying ‘I can’t believe these words are about to leave my mouth, but can I cast Locate Object on Sam’s tongue?”

What Do I Know About First Impressions? Tales of the Valiant Kickstarter Black Flag Roleplaying Adventure Pack (Black Flag Roleplaying)
I'm taking a quick look at the Black Flag partner adventures that were released to backers, to get a feel for how different companies are utilizing Kobold Press' Black Flag SRD.
One of the add-ons for the Tales of the Valiant Kickstarter was a Black Flag Adventure Pack, a set of adventures created by various third party publishers that wanted to use the Black Flag SRD as the basis for their adventures. In theory, these would all still be D&D 5e compatible, but would be designed using the assumptions of the new game system. We’ve seen the first pass of the Black Flag…

Given the situation with the Open Game License going on right now I think it's best if independent tabletop game developers talk to lawyers right away. Whether they have or haven't used D&D related content under the OGL they should still prepare for litigation. Paizo, Green Ronin Publishing, Kobald Press, Ghostfire Games, White Wolf, Fantasy Flight, any and all indie devs should prepare. And if possible they should contact and work together, unite against Hasbro and WotC.

Welcome to the world of Luranthis.
The continent of Viliam is large, sprawling, and diverse, home to many cultures and ecosystems.
In the frozen south, the Frostpeaks hide massive icy domes. Within these ancient works of primal magic lie villages of bone, fur, and hide, home to the barbarian tribes. They hunt dangerous beasts for food, status, and building materials, and periodically marshal together to fight back the hordes of rimed undead that stream from the Everstorm at the south pole.
To the north, the vibrant desert nation of Raum is home to athletes and artisans; it is largely populated by leonin and tabaxi, though the annual Exhibition, a contest of might and artistry, has drawn pilgrims, immigrants, and champions from all over the world for generations. An astounding array of colors fills the night, as luminous pollen and creatures flit about the active tent cities and oases.
In the east, the great, dark Nightspire Forest reaches out from the rocky coast. a network of cooperative but independent villages and towns dot its borders, and their fertile farmlands stretch towards the other regions. But their inhabitants do their best to stay away from the deeper reaches of the forest, lest they fall prey to the strange monsters that inhabit it, or the ritualized Hunts of the Lycanthrope Clans that call it home.
In the west, the Nation of Westmar has fallen into disarray after a falling star struck the capital city of Drakkenheim fifteen years ago; stories of dark energies, strange mutations, and unholy abominations have begun filtering out to the rest of the continent as the decaying kingdom wars with itself. Perhaps if an heir to the throne could be found, stability might return to the region.
In the center of the continent, the great city of Unity was founded hundreds of years ago as a hub for the various cultures and economies of Viliam. In the years since it has grown into a massive shining metropolis, where one can find luxurious furs from the south, hearty crops from the east, beautiful tapestries from the north, and delicious exotic produce from the far corners of the realm. Westmar's contributions have greatly diminished since its fall, but strange artifacts smuggled out of its capital have occasionally been found in the markets.
To the west of Viliam lies the smaller continent of Karras, the land of dragons. The draconic inhabitants have not parleyed with the nations of Viliam for aeons, though individuals have occasionally flown eastward to make their homes among the varied ecosystems of their sister continent. Adventurous sailors, however, have spread rumors that a great war has been raging, and may one day spill beyond its coastlines...

Ghostfire Gaming - Divine Matriarch AD: Matt DeMino
Catching up on posting some older work! This one was for the trailer of Sebastian Crowe's Guide to Drakkenheim (hence the two different heads!), and you can also find it in the handbook.
Many thanks to the team @ Ghostfire!

Npc Art Dump for Agents of the Empire (a D&D game I’m DMing)
The Key—Tiefling in Operative Division that is from the PCs rival group in The Agency (The Dusk Bringers)
Dr Tamir Reed Bramble—Earth Genasi doctor in the Agency’s medical ward. He is one of the PCs close confidant (and also supplier of blood bags, since he’s a dhampir)
Fren Kelvan—one of the earlier minor villains of the campaign. A disgraced noble from Karel looking for revenge
Rust—a kobalt the party found who was hiding away
A halfling dueling professor at the Avar Academy in Talavi
One of the PC’s mother. A high elf who is a famous fashion designer. She is too cool and wants the best for her halfelf son
If y’all want to use these NPCs, or use the portraits in your home games, feel free (just credit me/don’t claim them as your own)

would love to learn more abt cas so how abt 1, 4, and 8 for rogue trader lore questions
From this ask game. Thank you!
What was your RT's homeworld? How do they feel about it?
Her homeworld is the Agri-World Iocanthos, in the Calixis Sector. Imagine Mad Max: Fury Road smashed with Conan the Barbarian, and set it on the plains and that's kind of what it looks like? The only thing keeping it from being classified as a feral world is that it's the only growing place for the Ghostfire flower (watered by the Warp-tainted blood of the battlefield ofc), the Imperium needs its pollen for combat drugs, and its easier to manipulate the giant warbands into fighting over Tithe amounts than to conquer the planet fully. It's one of those places that absolutely sucks to live, so much so that even other crappy parts of the Sector used to use it as a penal dumping ground. While Cas'd never go back to living there, its also the only place she'd known until leaving and she still loves it and wishes it could be better.
4. How did your RT feel about Theodora? How did they feel when she died?
Answered here!
8. How much does your RT buy into the Imperium's dogma? What do they agree or disagree on?
Casimira was raised around the Drusian sect of the faith but otherwise is two degrees from full heathenry by Imperium standards (her people don't even agree that the Emperor is divine). At best on the agreement side she will admit that Chaos is bad and shouldn't be used lightly, but doesn't think total ignorance or immediate execution is the way to go about confronting it. She is also, of course, very against the blanket Anti-Xenos part of the Imperial Creed. If the Xenos can communicate and have something to offer, why not cooperate with them for mutual benefit? (Also, fun explode-y weapons, another plus to being nice.)
