Lemon Abundance

First rose in bloom in my little garden! To think, this giant rosebush was struggling so hard three years ago and was barely more than a single twig! Now it’s my biggest and boldest rose!!

Four years ago this June we moved into our semi-detached house, and the garden was empty and boring. It’s really come alive, and we’ve got suburban birds and bugs aplenty now (welcome, even if they steal my blackberries and strawberries).

My roses got battered by some heavy rain recently so I snipped them off and brought them inside! They’re as big as a bridal bouquet! (And probably full of spiders and ants too, but shhhhhhhh) 🌹

We have a nice lil urban garden, relatively small, but we’ve worked on it a lot in the three years we’ve been living here. Here’s a side-by-side shot of the garden when we moved in and the garden today:

As for the plants I grow, there are lots so I’ll put in a ‘keep reading’ so that it doesn’t take up the entirety of people’s dashboards... (the original keep reading got a bit dislodged for some reason... yay Dumblr)

So, here’s the first bit - we have like an upper deck/patio bit, and that’s where I’m growing lots of different veg and fruit in pots. There are: courgettes, blueberries, kale, tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, salad, and mint.

Then we built the raised herb bed and laid the patio ourselves a few years ago, and that’s been used for a variety of things, largely herbs.

Around the rest of the garden there are roses and acers, and this year I’m growing camassia for the first time. Here’s a selection. Most of them have been rescue plants from the discount section at the local garden centre. Some survived and others didn’t, but I’ve learned a lot :).

Indoors I’ve got others like tradescantia, an avocado plant that recently flatlined for a bit until I gave it a phosphorous feed and is now perking up again, and some cacti, herbs, jasmine, and various succulents. Oh and some cuttings and experiments...

Was ridiculously happy to see some Ghosti plonts! (And fluffy bee butts!) ((I know, the silliest things to be excited to see after a few days without power))
