Randomly thinking about Disney* non-villain characters who the audience is meant to think are dead, even if not for very long vs. Disney non-villain characters who actually do die in their canon (most of them are brought back to life via magic or technology).

*I am only counting Disney animated canon. No Pixar, Marvel, etc.

Wilbur Robinson (Meet the Robinsons 2007) - Pops out of existence when the alternate future washes over the current future. Is never being born the same as dying?

Giant turtle-creature (Strange World 2022) - There is a moment where perhaps the audience might think the Clades and crew of the Venture have failed at their mission, but I don’t know, I wasn’t fooled for a second, were you?

I acknowledge that I might have missed someone or a movie or so (there was actually a lot more death than I remembered!), but this is a pretty good list. And hey! I may have mentioned some characters you either don’t know or didn’t remember dying! Oh, and I deliberately left out Snow White, because the narration makes it clear that she’s not dead, she’s just in a death-like sleep.

I’ve got a couple >:)

Eugene was 12 when he realized he liked boys. There was no grand realization. No dramatic crush that opened the door to an entirely new world of love and self-loathing. It came to him like his name, his gender, and his favorite color. To call himself bisexual felt as natural as breathing, and so in his head, that was what he did.

He turned the page and was met with a photo of the Dark Kingdom that he knew. A shell of a castle, covered with black rocks. A tomb, more than a home. When Eugene Fitzherbert thought about the Dark Kingdom, that was the only image he could invoke. It was the only thing he could talk about- he knew nothing about his people. He did know about loss.

I think Faith Trust is my best written one, the Push and Pull is my favourite long fic I’m gonna cry when it ends and then Who We Are has a special place in my heart just because of how much it meant to me to write eugene getting diaspora feelings sjdksjdgb

I’d been sitting on this thing since early 2020, but since I hadn’t finished it, I never felt like I should post it bc I’m always a perfectionist like that. 😭 Also I just fell out of the fandom and was really put off with wanting any more interaction with it for a good while unfortunately.

As some of you know, I had some Giant Moongene AU stuff posted a while back, tho I didn’t share a whole lot of it... Basically, it’d be Eugene taking the moonstone for the sake of protecting Rapunzel from a potential demise instead of Cass taking it. Personally, I would have liked this route for the storyline instead... (giant or not lol)

Either way! I wanted to see what it might have been like so I attempted to board it out! This is very rough at best and I know I could do a lot better with the shots and choices, but it was a first pass that never got elaborated on more (and honestly the end is just the couple of frames I had from the comic version just slapped on so it would be a bit more complete; honestly I was so close with this thing!) I found the perfect track, “Moonlight Sonata” (lol) cover by Hidden Citizens, edited the clips from the scene (bc I did NOT want to have to board out ALL of it), and then boarded the rest in between of the alternate path.

I’ve sat on it for so long, but I knew it wasn’t fair to keep to myself. I hope some of you can get to enjoy it too! Maybe one day I’ll have it in me to clean it up...

Tangled the Series G/T AU #1

I’ve recently been finding myself on allot of G/T posts. (Especially when it comes to giant girls or tiny boys) And Tangled is my favorite show so I wanna try to make a G/T AU.

So when Rapunzel is given the powers of the Sundrop when she is in her mothers womb she does still get her golden hair, but she is also born larger than an average baby is supposed to be born. Frederick and Ariana don’t think much of it though since they figure she probably takes after her father in height.

Gothel still steals Rapunzel for her healing powers. But as Rapunzel grows older she gets bigger and bigger and Gothel has to keep using magic (probably some type of Zhan Tiri magic) to keep her fitting in the tower. Because instead of her hair growing really long, SHE HERSELF becomes a giant. This being because the Sundrop is a POWERFUL magical entity and in order to fit it inside a human that human needs to be strong and big enough to handle it. So while her hair is still long, it only goes down to around her back because she herself is now a giant. However the healing powers do come the hair and it glows when she uses them.

Pascal still is around and is Rapunzel’s companion in the tower, but he’s also bigger, around the size of a large dog, because some of Rapunzel’s Sundrop magic has rubbed off on the little guy. (He almost acts like Rapunzel’s familiar). Maybe he even grows wings.

Eugene/ Flynn still comes around as normal (maybe with Lance this time because I freakin love Lance and it’d be cool to include him). He sneaks into the tower and (almost like in a “Jack and the Beanstalk” Like manner) is SHOCKED to find that the place is home to a very energetic giantess who has been there for 18 years. He tries to hide from her but Pascal spots him and Raps manages to catch him and put him in a jar. He wakes up to find himself in the jar with his satchel gone and a giantess staring at him, and she’s very suspicious of him. (Gothel told her that most tiny folk will hate giants and try to kill her or use her for her hair). However the same dream about the lanterns is real and they make a deal that she’ll give him the satchel if he takes her

I don’t know how EACH part of the movie and whatnot plays out. But of course Eugene and Rapunzel fall in love. The “I see the light” scene probably happens away from the river and not in a boat, but Eugene does get her a lantern. Rapunzel probably doesn’t go INTO the capital until after Gothel is defeated, so the final scene where where Rapunzel meets her parents, they also have to explain why their daughter is a GIANT. But the king and queen are very loving and accepting and it ends up happy.

“…..Hm, A little to the left.”

“Is this good?”

“Hmmmm….” You glanced over at Rapunzel, tapping her finger to her chin in thought, her eyes locked in on the giant wreath. “Yep! That’s great!” Rapunzel exclaimed, smiling brightly. “Thank you!” She waved towards the handmaids and guards who helped her hang the wreath.

“It’s looking great, Punz. Your parents are gonna love it.” You said, following Rapunzel down the hall towards her room, where Eugene was no doubt waiting for both of them.

“You really think so?!” Rapunzel asked, almost blinding you with the hope that radiated off of her. “They just really like Christmas.”

“Just them?”

“Okay. No, I love Christmas too. I just know that they celebrate it…differently than me.” Rapunzel sighed, falling silent very quickly. You quickened your pace, before stepping in front of Rapunzel, your hand on her arm, halting the two of you from moving forward anymore. Keeping your eyes trained onto Rapunzel’s face, you quickly took note of how

“Punz, it’s your parents.” You said, “They’re just happy to be spending time with you.” You added, “Listen, I don’t know what happened in your childhood entirely and I probably never will, but you’re home. You’re surrounded by so many who love you. Eugene loves you. I love you. Pascal loves you. I can keep going….” You paused, watching the beginnings of a smile form on Rapunzel’s face. “Your decorations look amazing. The star. The ordainments. The star. Everything.”

“I know. I just can’t help but get kind of sad during these holidays now. I’m seeing what I missed for so long.”

“Hey Blondie! (Y/N)! The main hall looks great!” You both turn to find Eugene walking closer towards the both of you, Pascal resting on his shoulder. “I was talking to Hook Foot and he thinks that—hey, what’s wrong?” Eugene asked, his smile being quickly replaced with a frown at the sight of Rapunzel. Eugene glanced over at you, almost as if silently asking for any confirmation that you weren’t okay.

“I’m okay.” Rapunzel said, breaking the silence. “I just need something to help distract me for a bit…..” Rapunzel paused, as you raised an eyebrow at her comment. “Well, until later when I’m ready.”

“Well, I might know something that’ll just do the trick,” Eugene grinned. Normally, you’d be slightly scared of whatever Eugene might suggest, but given Rapunzel’s state, you were certain that he wouldn’t do anything but try to make Rapunzel happier for the time being until she was ready to talk.

“What?”

“How about we all make some Christmas cookies?”

That was a good idea, actually. It would definitely bring Rapunzel into some Christmas spirit and maybe even help her work through some of her feelings.

“So?” Eugene said, grabbing one of Rapunzel’s hands and one of yours. “Wanna make some cookies?”

“Yeah, sounds fun.” You said, immediately waiting for Rapunzel’s response. Or really any sign indicating that she didn’t feel like it.

Although, this was Rapunzel you were talking about. She was always in the mood for baking, especially when it was any holiday. Rapunzel once told you that it helped her get into the feeling and mindset for that specific holiday.

“Sounds festive,” Rapunzel nodded, “I could really go for something a little festive right now. Let’s bake some cookies.”

“And then talk, if you’re comfortable.” You added to which Rapunzel nodded.

“That’s my girl,” Eugene grinned. “Let’s go get into the Christmas spirit!”

What are your favourite hc's for each character, or just one, idm, dump information on me :)

I want to preface this by saying that I loe you so much for giving me an excuse to just say everything that's on my mind, I'm going to give you lots of headcanons, lots of them, here we go

Flynn is the kind of person who can't just not know how things work but who will also refuse help at all costs, she must learn everything, but she must learn it on her own, you know the dance flyiers? she taught herself to use photoshop just for that flyier because she'll be damned if she has to ask someone else to do it for her, that was the tip of the iceberg, she can now make the most realistic montages ever. Her clothes? she makes them! she aught herself shion design when she was 5! yes, she sometimes buys clothes, but most of them end up being transformed anyway because she won't stand wearing the same dress as someone else, no matter if that someone else is on the other side of the planet, she's unique and her clothes must be it too, damn it! also, she doesn't know it, but her dog is related to Max (learn about Max on Willie's section). She also taught herself to code because none of tumblr's themes ever satisfied her, yes she's on tumblr, does she look like a non-tumblr user to you?

Julie's favorite disney character is Eugene Fitzherbert because Flynn, the first time she watched Tangled nobody could stop her from fangirling over the fact that her best friend's name is also Flynn, she made Rose call Misha just so she could tell Flynn about Flynn. They wouldn't stop reenacting the movies for years. It wasn't clear to me if this is canon or not, but I love the idea that Julie's Stand Tall dress was suppossed to be her quinces dress (she ended up not having one bc her mom was dying). Julie started to doodle on her shoes, mic, jeans, etc., as a compromise with her parents because she wouldn't stop drawing on the walls, including the school walls, and store's walls, and pretty much every wall.

Flynn, Julie, and Willie are best friends no matter the universe, Flynn and Willie are married as a joke and they won't divorce, not even for Alex to marry Willie.

the car accident where Willie died wasn't his first car accident, when he was around 12 he was in a car with his dad and they both ended up in the hospital, after that Willie refused to go inside a car, the accident is the whole reason he started to skateboard everywhere, he just couldn't stomach being in a car, only cars tho, he was okay with buses and trains and stuff like that. The only situation he got in a car for after that was at 16 when he found a bunch of abandoned puppies and he wanted to take them to the vet but he figured skating with a box of puppies wasn't safe and the bus wouldn't allow him with them, so he reluctantly went in the car. Having the puppies there helped because he loves dogs, especially big dogs, he finds comfort in acting as a chair for massive dogs. He used to volunteer at a dog shelter and adopted a massive dog from there, her name was Mini, lovely giant fluffy dog. He was about to adopt a small dog that had just given birth at the shelter, but then he died. His parents adopted her in his honor and named her Max because that's what Wilie wanted: a small dog named Max and a big dog named Mini.

speaking of dogs, Reggie is allergic to both dogs and cats, but he asked for a puppy in the show in hopes that being a ghost would render his allergies useless. it didn't, but he figured is not like he's going to die again so he keeps petting dogs. he was always top of his class because he's really good at memorizing things, but he would forget most of it as soon as the test was over, there were a few subjects he retained info about because he really liked them. he always acts so silly because he would always try to distract his little bro fom their parents' fights and at some point he just defaulted to that for everything.

Bobby was really good at tests but it was in a different way to Reggie. Bobby basically mastered the art of tracking down old tests, at first he would just dig through his brothers' stuff until he found their tests and then studied the (correct) answers from those tests, but eventually he worked out an entire system with older students to get their old tests because some of his brothers' teachers had retired since then, and also because it couldn't hurt to have more than one test to study from.

after the guys died, Bobby tried to separate himself from music as much as he could because the band still had fans trying to reach out to him and he couldn't stand one more question about the most traumatic night of his life, so he started to work at a museum and he met Ray there because of course Ray was a regular. After some months his plan kinda backfired because Rose also started to work at the museum and recognized him, but she was cool about not asking questions or bringing it up and they became besties. Bobby was the one to convince Rose to ask Ray out on a date since Ray would freeze everytime he tried to talk to her so he was obviously not going to make the first move. Rose was the one to get Bobby to play again by dragging him to an open mic and telling him she wouldn't stop the pda with Ray until he wrote his name in the list. She only wanted him to write his name down, baby steps and all, but then he actually got on stage, she was proud.

Carrie is popular but kinda not. She's not popular in the high school movie cheerleader way, she's popular in a Rachel Berry way where she's in every club she's able to, always wants the spotlight and would totally send someone to a crack house in order to keep her solos, so she's only "popular" because she's hard to ignore, not because people are fighting to be her friend. Carrie is short for Carrieta, someone take away the power of names from Trevor.

The following characters have epilepsy: Willie, Flynn, Julie, Alex, Reggie, maybe Bobby as well, idk.

Not exactly a headcanon, but Caleb's boss is played by Eva Noblezada, I love Eva Noblezada.

Today I present you

Blue(ish) Characters Who Were Definitely Bi but The Showrunners were Cowards : Cartoon Edition

Quick disclaimer: This should go without saying but all of this is just my personal opinion/headcanon, so don't go apeshit if you disagree

That said, let's get into it...

Lance and Sokka from Voltron: Legendary Defender and Avatar: The Last Airbender (respectively) It's safe to say these are two of the most iconic Blue Bis of our time, and they both have the classic Red and Moody Boyfriend

Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano from The Clone Wars and other Star Wars media. This franchise is jam-packed with queer coded characters, but these two take the crown for Starwars bicons

Eugene Fitzherbert aka Flynn Rider from Tangled and Tangled: The Series. Not only is he bisexual, but he's been in multiple polycules, including his relationship with Rapunzel (honerable mentions to Rapunzel, our pansexual queen, Cassandra, the other end of their vee and a demi lesbian, and Varian, the queer enby I hope to be, but as non of these characters use the label "bi" they didn't make the list)

Coraline Jones from Coraline (specifically Coraline the movie as I have yet to read the book) It's not until her 20's that she gets over her internalized homophobia, but once she does she's our aspec bi queen

James of Team Rocket from Pokemon. Both he and Jessie are the gender nonconforming bicons of my childhood, but only James makes the "blue" requirement of this list

Eclipsa Butterfly and Janna Ordonia from Star vs the Forces of Evil. Look at their outfits, need I say more? Honorable mentions to Jackie Lynn Thomas; the Cannon Bi, Tom Lucitor and Marco Diaz; the Red Bis, and Star; the Blue Polyamorous but Straight one (yes she's in a polycule with Tom and Marco)

And finally our King; Megamind. He's got all the aesthetics: punk/grunge, space, and some indecipherable flavor of academia. He walks the line of giant nerd and theater kid like no one else. In addition to being bi, he's also he/him nonbinary and drinks Respect Women Juice on the daily. This list is not ranked, but if it were he'd be number one.

Final honorable mentions goes to Sea Hawk and Mermista from She-Ra: Princesses of Power; the only reason they're not in here is because they're cannon and I wouldn't dare call Noelle Stevenson a coward

Varian’s Tangled Trials

A “Varian and the Seven Kingdoms” fan fiction.

Chapter 1. A New Journey. 6,756 Words

It’s happily ever after, after all, but in this ‘tangled’ world more mysteries wait to be uncovered. When Varian finds out about his mother’s scientific work and her quest to find the Eternal Library, he knows he must pick up where she left off and maybe find his own destiny along the way.

Crouched down next to a giant copper tank, Varian leaned in close to a small meter, watching it carefully as he adjusted the various dials and switches underneath. A swath of dark, blue striped hair fell into his vision, and he brushed it back hastily. This process was a delicate one and required all of his concentration. He took a slow calming breath as the needle on the dial came closer and closer to just the right spot…

Something collided with the side of the tank with a resounding ring sending vibrations through Varian's bones and making him jump back with a shamefully alarmed shriek. He snapped his head up to find the Captain of the Guard, Eugene Fitzherbert leaning against the tank, having apparently just smacked it with his hand.

"So Goggles, just so we're clear," said Eugene, his grin clearly masking concern, "This is the same device that you were working on when we first met. The same machine that nearly took out your whole village. The same machine that almost crushed mine and Rapunzel's beautiful faces."

"Oh Eugene, I'm sure it's fine," said Princess Rapunzel, coming to stand next to her husband to put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Varian knows what he's doing this time around. He and his dad have been working on this for months now, right Varian?"

Varian took a quick look back down at the meter and felt a smile tug the corner of his mouth when he saw that it was at precisely the correct setting. "Right you are, Princess," said Varian. "Those other machines were built when I was just a naive kid starting bravely on the path of science." He jumped up and pulled a lever with gusto. "Now…" He jumped past Eugene, forcing him to take a few steps back, "I'm older..." He grabbed a wheel on the side of the device and sent it spinning. "Wiser, aaand…" He put his hand on another big lever. "I've had a chance to adjust my calculations to a margin of error of just point five two percent!" He yanked the handle down.

Eugene and Rapunzel jumped, and Varian's raccoon Ruddiger scampered away as the whole machine began to tremble. The pipes jutting off of it started to shake. "Uh… Varian?!" Rapunzel blurted, bracing herself and her husband for the worst.

Varian watched the meters calmly, hushing the voice in his head that kept telling him he was about to blow them all to smithereens. The tank started banging as steam began to roll out of small cracks. The commotion moved up the pipes and across the room until it finally arrived at a metal piece full of holes Varian had engineered to spout hot water in an approximation of rainwater.

Sure enough, they all watched as first, a burst of steam rolled out of the holes, and then a gentle stream of warm water sprayed harmlessly down into a metal wash bin. Varian's smile grew as Rapunzel's friend and companion, the chameleon Pascal, crawled onto the wash bin and felt the warm shower water with apprehension. Once Pascal realized how nice it felt, though, the chameleon relaxed and turned a soft shade of pink in approval.

"Yes! It worked! It really worked!" cried Varian, jumping up and punching the air with excitement before remembering how 'old' and 'wise' he was supposed to be. He calmed himself and focused on speaking more appropriately to his royal company. "Um... I'm mean, of course it worked." He moved back over to the dials and adjusted them slightly to stabilize the machine and calm the vibrations. "As I was just saying, I've grown a lot these past few years."

Rapunzel took one of Varian's hands in hers and looked at him in that way that always made Varian feel safe and secure. "You really have, Varian," She said softly. "After everything we've been through, you have really shown how smart and capable you are. And as the Royal Engineer, you'll be able to really help the people of Corona."

"Yeah," said Eugene, "And everyone will totally forget about your whole evil villain phase."

Varian flinched as dark memories flooded his mind, dredged up by the guard captain's comment.

"Eugene!" Rapunzel chided. "That has long been forgiven."

"Kidding, kidding," replied Eugene hastily. He seemed to realize that his joking had gone too far, and Varian watched as the older man looked at him with a more genuine gaze. "In all seriousness, Kid," he said, placing a gentle hand on Varian's shoulder, "you've done an amazing job here. We're really proud of you. I'll bet your dad is as well."

Varian felt a small blush rise in his cheeks at the praise from two of his closest friends. "Thanks, I think so too."

*ahem* When you're caught in the act.

(just a little from part 5 of A Test of Will.)

The door to the lab opens with perfect timing just as I was about to ask Louis what he needed to speak to Cetz about.

I look over the fence of his fingers at a giant Rachel carrying a tablet and a look of accomplishment.

Had she come in two minutes earlier, I would have died of embarrassment.

She adjusts the Skysprecht in her right ear, tucking away stray strands of blond hair loosed from her messy bun.

And suddenly the comfort I’d found moments ago jumped the tracks right into oncoming traffic.

The Skysprects.

I’d left mine on the entire time, and so did Louis. I completely forgot about them. And because I’d heard him talking to her back on the observation deck…

…They’re still connected to hers.

She heard everything.

Louis and I both sport wide-eyed expressions like we just saw a seven-headed hydra in a Starbucks drive-through ordering coffee for each of its heads.

I’m damn sure Louis and I have the same thought at the exact same time, and I don’t need a sixth heightened sense to hear it;

Oh fuck.

Whelp. That’s it. It’s all over for me. Officially proclaim me dead, mourn my corpse, give my stuff to my family, and move on.

She notices the two of us frozen like icicles, smiles, and casually sets the tablet on the table, “Is there a problem?” she asks.

We talk over each other in the worst attempt at feigning normalcy ever invented by mankind.

“Nope.”

“No, nothing wrong.”

“We’re good here.”

“It’s fine. We’re great.”

“Yeah, no problem at all.”

“We’re fine.”

“Everything’s great.”

“Perfect.”

“Perfectly normal.”

“Boring, really.”

“Really boring.’

“Yup, we’re fine.”

There’s a very awkward pause before Louis goes in for the clincher, “How are you?”

The corners of her mouth twitch, trying extremely hard not to start laughing. I can hear it in the wobble of her voice, "I'm good. Thanks."

Yup. She heard everything.

Louis, crush me now. I promise I won’t get mad. Just put me out of my misery.

The Trial of Fitzherbert and Schnitz (a finished fanficiton)

After hearing the news of this lost episode, I was filled with so much disappointment. I thought about what this episode could’ve been if just a bit more care was put into finishing it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. After awhile, I couldn’t take it anymore and just had to write up my own idea of what the plot synopsis of this episode would be like if it was finished.

It’s not perfect or professional and I’ve never really written anything like this before (at least publicly) but I did what I could to stick to the main outline for the story.

We start in Vardaros as Rapunzel is browsing through a craft shop named, “Mabel’s Crafts” with Lance and Eugene. As they are waiting to check out their things, Eugene and a slightly nervous Lance reminisce on their old adventures as little thieves in Vardaros, remembering how they (quite effortlessy) stole a ton of valuable figurines from this cranky shop owner. Suddenly, that same shop owner, Mabel, remarks how familiar those voices are. She wipes her glasses, sees the two men and immediately yells at them to leave, recognizing them as the infamous thieves. Rapunzel, using her charm, convinces the shop owner that they aren’t the same people they once were, and that they promise to do no harm. The shop owner is frustrated, but knowing how much busier and clean the city has been ever since Rapunzel and the gang came to town, she accepts this explanation and sells them their crafts. Eugene thanks Rapunzel, telling her that she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him.

Suddenly, Lance sees two familiar faces: Blade and Dagger, bullies from his and Eugene’s childhood. Terrified, Lance alerts Eugene and the two book it down an alley way to avoid the bullies. Rapunzel chases after them. After they think they have made it far enough, they realize that they have stumbled upon a certain building: their old orphanage. At first, the two are pleasantly surprised to be back at their old home, but as they take in their sights, Eugene notices a shattered window on the 2nd story. He solemnly tells Lance that he’s going back to the camp to start making dinner. Rapunzel, just catching up to them, notices a disturbed Eugene walking away, and asks Lance what’s going on. Lance tells her about the bullies and the orphanage. When Rapunzel suggests that seeing the orphanage is what’s hurting Eugene, Lance laughs nervously and walks off, causing Rapunzel to be suspicious.

Later back at the camp, all but one member of the group is present during supper. Rapunzel goes to check up on Lance inside the caravan, catching him fumbling nervously with a big list. Lance tries to hide the paper, but Rapunzel already sees that the list is full of apologies and other phrases with the word “sorry” written all over it. Shutting the door, Rapunzel forces Lance to come clean about what’s really wrong with Eugene. He tells her everything.

Cut to a flashback of a 9-year-old Lance sadly watching an 8-year-old Eugene excitedly pack his things. Eugene has just been adopted by a seemingly nice (and very wealthy) couple, the Holloways. He is absolutely ecstatic. Lance tries to be happy for him, but can’t help but feel heartbroken that his brother and closest friend is actually leaving. In a sad attempt to help, Lance heads towards their special hideout (a beautiful, grassy-green hill on top of a large cliff overlooking Vardaros with beautiful waterfalls falling down the side) to collect a few things for Eugene to take with him. Unfortunately, he is confronted by Blade and Dagger on the way. They chase Lance with a large spider and throw him into an empty barrel, planning to roll him down the wide streets of Vardardos into a mud pit. Just before they are able push the barrel, Eugene comes to the rescue by pulling the tail of a large horse, causing it to panic. The freaked-out horse charges its way towards the bullies and they run off terrified. Eugene gets Lance out of the barrel and Lance thanks him, remarking how he would’ve been a goner without Eugene. Suddenly, Lance spots a large, fancy carriage in the distance coming toward the orphanage. He knows that the couple is coming to adopt Eugene. Even worse, in the corner of his eye, he sees Blade and Dagger looking down every street and alley, clearly searching for him. Lance runs back towards the orphanage and climbs up the building’s walls to quickly escape the bullies. He climbs up to a closed window and, out of desperation, frantically breaks it open with a rock to get inside. He climbs through the shattered window and into the girl’s bedroom. The girls shriek and the headmistress (along with the just-arrived wealthy couple) march into the room. The mistress furiously asks who broke the window. A panicked Lance looks outside and sees Eugene. In a moment of panic and fear, he points out and says to the mistress and couple: “It was Flynn!”

The headmistress lets out a disappointed sigh, but the Holloways are appalled. They leave in a huff, exclaiming that they don’t want a rambunctious hooligan as a son. Just as they’re leaving, an excited Eugene spots them, but before he can get a word out, the carriage door shuts in front of him and he is left alone as it rides off. A relieved Lance jokingly remarks that Eugene didn’t need parents anyway, but the sobbing 8-year-old runs back into the orphanage. Relief and joy turn into deep regret.

Back in the present day, a guilty Lance tells Rapunzel that he’s been trying to apologize to Eugene ever since they came back to Vardaros, but he just can’t see it going well. He asks her if she has any advice for apologies. Rapunzel, desperate to help, flips the giant paper over and starts a new list with Lance of all the things Eugene loves. They spend the whole night coming up with an “apology day” that Lance can spend with Eugene in order to make his confession a little less harsh.

The next day, just as the sun is coming up, a sleeping Eugene is woken up by the caravan door slamming open. An excited Lance tells Eugene about their plans for the day. Eugene is suspicious as to why Lance is so upbeat after being so quiet the day before, but Rapunzel encourages him, telling him it’s going to be his best day ever. The two guys spend the day doing all kinds of things they loved to do as kids: sight-seeing, playing old childhood games, tree climbing, river rafting, watching a (very low budget) performance of “Flynn Rider and 6 Castles,” scavenger hunting (organized by Rapunzel) and other various activities. They end the day having a picnic at their old hideout on the hill. As Lance fries up a steak, Eugene remarks how he feels like a kid again after the day they had. Lance agrees, saying how different their lives would’ve been if either had actually been adopted. Eugene uncomfortably laughs, trying to change the subject by saying how lucky they were to not run into Blade and Dagger during their day. Lance jokingly mentions that he might’ve had to break into the orphanage again if that happened. Eugene freezes. He sternly asks what Lance means. Lance fumbles, looking for a way to change the subject, but ultimately confesses their childhood incident. Eugene is furious. He rants about how he had a feeling their outing had strings attached and how Lance ruined his one chance at having a family all because he was a coward. As Eugene angrily mounts Fidella, he bitterly remarks how all Lance has done his entire life is use Eugene for himself, and he won’t let that happen again. Eugene rides back to the camp. A guilty Lance sits in silence, unsure if Eugene will ever talk to him again, but suddenly, Blade and Dagger appear right behind him with a “welcome home” present.

Back at the camp, Eugene rants to Rapunzel. Rapunzel tries to bring up all the fun things he did with Lance, but Eugene is still furious, heartbroken, and unsure if he could ever forgive his so-called “buddy.” Rapunzel agrees that forgiving others can be hard, but in hindsight, sometimes poor choices can lead to good things. Right as Eugene is about to snap back, he bumps into a paper frame dangling from a tree. He takes a look at it, recognizing it to be a lantern. He then catches sight at something near the caravan: a giant bag full of colorful lanterns varied with different designs and shapes. A melancholy Rapunzel explains that her plan was to put them up around Varadaros while the guys were having their picnic so they could see the city glow like it used to. Rapunzel lights up a cylinder lantern, and Eugene can’t help but remember the night he and Rapunzel first confessed their love. Eugene realizes what he might’ve missed out on if Lance hadn’t broken that window. Suddenly, Max comes racing back, alerting them of Lance.

Eugene and Rapunzel follow Max to the same hill Lance had their picnic. Once they arrive: they see a terrifying sight: Blade and Dagger have tied up Lance and put him into a (bigger) barrel, and this time, are planning to push him off a cliff into a valley with black rocks as sharp as ever. Rapunzel tries to use her charm to get through to the bullies, but neither are moved as they are more focused on finishing off their old childhood “friend.” Just as Lance is about to be thrown off by Blade, Max charges towards him and kicks him away from Lance, unfortunately sending him rolling straight down the hill. Just as Lance is about to fly off the edge, Rapunzel uses her hair to catch him. She gets him out of the barrel and back on land. Once his ties are undone, they mount Max and just as Eugene runs to get on the horse, Dagger tackles him. Eugene pulls out his sword and the two fight their way into a cave. Lance follows after them to save Eugene, but Blade follows Lance, noticing a large bolder conveniently right above the entrance to the cave. He chucks a smaller rock at the bolder, causing it to fall over the entrance, blocking Rapunzel and Max from entering.

As Lance is following after Eugene and Dagger, he stops in his tracks, petrified by a giant spider web with dozens of spiders right in front of him. Blade knocks Lance to his feet, effortlessly cuts the web, and taunts him about how after all these years, he’s still afraid of spiders. Blade also tells Lance not bother chasing after them since even if he does rescue Eugene, he’s never going to be forgiven anyway. Dagger and Eugene continuing fighting their way down the cave. They reach a hollow space and Dagger spots an opening in the cave, planning to push Eugene down one of the huge waterfalls. Eugene does his best to fight in another direction, but ends up being cornered right at the edge of the large opening. Eugene looks down to see nothing below him but the river with black rocks menacingly pointing up. Dagger pins Eugene down on the edge, knowing that with one push, Eugene would fall to his death. He taunts him about having to die without a real family, but a smug Eugene, eyeing a familiar figure right behind Dagger, repeats Rapunzel’s words about how poor decisions can lead to good things. Confused, he turns around and suddenly, Lance, covered in cob webs, knocks out the bully with the frying pan.

Lance pulls Eugene off the edge and they both laugh, realizing how crazy their “best day ever” ended up being. Eugene then hears Rapunzel call out to the guys from atop the cliff. She lets down her hair and Eugene and Lance each pick up an unconscious bully on their shoulder as Rapunzel pulls them up to safety. As they’re being pulled up, Eugene remarks how he’s proud of Lance for overcoming his fear of spiders, only for Lance to see a spider on his frying pan, dropping it in a panic. The pan falls and lands on the edge of the river in front of a wealthy rich couple, known by others as the Holloways.

With the bullies locked up, Rapunzel and the gang set up lanterns around Vardaros just as the sun is setting. Rapunzel frantically takes Eugene over to the orphanage to hang up some more lights when he sees a pleasant surprise: the once broken window is fixed. Lance appears and tells Eugene that he knows what he ruined for him and that he’s never been sorrier in his life over what he did. In response, Eugene says Lance was right: their life as kids would’ve been different if they were adopted: He would’ve never become the infamous Flynn Rider, would’ve never been jailed with his best friend, would’ve never had the guts to leave Stalyan, would’ve never had so many memorable and amazing heists, would’ve never met the love of his life, would’ve never gotten back at the Baron, and would’ve never become Eugene Fitzherbert, the man he is today. He jokes how if the couple had raised him, he probably would’ve been a rich snob with a stupid name like “Horace.” Lance holds out his fist for a fist bump, but Eugene hugs Lance instead. The guys make up and Rapunzel puts the last lantern near the (now fixed) window.
