This past week has been really intense I’m completely drained and it’s not even over yet.
I’m not sure why I’m writing this at all and why I’m writing this in English...
So I was at a school trip in the desert and we didn’t really have any cell service at least not all the time and even when we did it was slow and disappeared quickly.
Basically every now and then someone will get some signal and update everybody about what is going on (attacks from Hames, terrorist attacks, threats...) . so we spent a lot of time obsessing over what is going on while being in a bubble completely disconnect.
When we would go to places that had cell service we would see so many alerts and news it was very hard especially because I have family members who live in the cities where there were many alerts and rockets and I didn’t really have the chance to really talk to them.
To top all of that every time I want in to one of my social media apps I felt attacked, the majority of the time it was because of people who don’t bother to check facts about what is really going on here (especially celebrities) and are spreading lies and hate, but also there were many posts about people who got hurt and killed (on both sides) and rumors about when the Hames will attack next (there was even a time when there was a rumor that they will attack where I was with my school (which is not usually where they attack)).
Today we drove back home which is at the other side of the country I was on my phone for about 8-9 hours reading and seeing posts and news about everything, like 5% of them were jokes Israelis make in order to cope,3% were ‘pro Israel’, 5% were pretty neutral about both sides and the rest were anti-Israel and/or pro-Palestine. It was so hard to see all of this hate coming from celebrities I was a fan of and seeing other who were ‘pro-Israel’ suffering and getting threats because of what they said. Also on the way back of course there were alarms and rockets and we sew several interception of rockets thanks to iron dome.
Don’t get me wrong but I’m used to this and usually I’m not as bothered as I am now. I think because I saw everything all at once sort of it was much more difficult especially because of my family and because I have people in my classroom that have siblings who are currently in the army and me and my class will be next year.
This is not new. This is “normal”. This shouldn’t be normal. This shouldn’t be something every Israeli is used to including little kids. This is not something people and kids in Gaza should be used to either. This is a terrible situation!
This is just my experience.
I just wish people would do some research and some fact check before judging a situation that they have no knowledge about and have no experience with, you can not understand this and what we go through if you never experienced it.
