The Sevier Desert is a large arid section of central-west Utah, United States, and is located in the southeast of the Great Basin. It is bordered by deserts north, west, and south; its east border is along the mountain range and valley sequences at the perimeter of the Great Basin, with the large north–south Wasatch Range and its associated mountainous landforms. Its eastern border is specifically, the East Tintic, Gilson, and Canyon Mountains; also the massive Pahvant Range.
The Sevier Desert contains the course of the Sevier River in a circuitous manner. It flows to Sevier Lake in the extreme southwest Sevier Desert. The Sevier River enters the east desert flowing west, immediately turning southwest, then west, to enter the north of Sevier Lake, which is mostly south-southwest trending.
The southeast section of the desert contains the Black Rock Desert volcanic field, with the notable Pahvant Butte, a formation from the time of Lake Bonneville. The volcanic field region is west of an agricultural four-city region from McCornick to Fillmore.
The desert is about 105-mi (169 km) long north–south, and about 60-mi (97 km) wide. The desert covers a large section of the central-north Sevier River drainage (11,574 sq mi (29,980 km2)), and much of the east half of Millard County (6,828 sq mi (17,680 km2)). The Sevier Desert is named for the river, which is derived from "Río Severo" (wild river), a local name given by early Spanish explorers.
In the north and northwest, the desert is composed of small mountain ranges, a few valleys, flatlands, and borders the south-southeast of the Great Salt Lake Desert. The Dugway Range and Dugway Valley on the Great Salt Lake Desert's perimeter, borders the Thomas Range, southeast. The Thomas Range and Drum Mountains lie due west of the Little Sahara Recreation Site. A large dissected flatland lies between drained southwesterly by Cherry Creek Wash. The region contains intermittent reservoirs, Hogback, Crater Bench, and Desert Mountain Reservoir. Also various springs, or wells. It is also the site of Fumarole Butte, 5,278 feet (1,609 m), about 10 miles (16 km) east of the Drum Mountains.

Former Officer Johnnie K. Drewery Sentenced - Excessive Force
Former Sergeant with Grady County Jail, Johnnie K. Drewery, was sentenced for using excessive force against an inmate.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (STL.News) Thursday, Johnnie K. Drewery, 29, a former sergeant with the Grady County Jail in Chickasha, Oklahoma, was sentenced to serve 48 months of probation, 30 days of weekend incarceration, and 104 hours of community service for using excessive force against an inmate, and thereby violating the inmate’s constitutional civil rights, announced Robert J. Troester, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.
On January 19, 2022, Drewery pleaded guilty to a felony civil rights violation. According to court documents and admissions Drewery made during the plea hearing, on July 11, 2020, Drewery, along with other officers, transported an inmate, D.H., into a holding cell at the Grady County Jail. As the cell door was closing, D.H. spits on Drewery. Drewery then screamed for the cell door to be reopened. When the cell door was unlocked, Drewery rushed into the cell and, in retaliation for being spit on, struck, and repeatedly kneed, D.H. D.H. suffered a fractured rib as a result of this assault.
“Former Sergeant Drewery violated the public trust and the laws he was sworn to uphold when he assaulted a man entrusted to his care,” said U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester for the Western District of Oklahoma. “Being a correctional officer did not make him above the law. My office remains committed to protecting the constitutional rights of all Oklahomans – including those who are incarcerated.”
“Mr. Drewery’s retaliatory actions toward an inmate in his care not only violated the victim’s civil rights but also compromised the public’s trust toward the law enforcement community,” said Special Agent in Charge Edward J. Gray of the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office. “The sentence handed down today illustrates the FBI’s commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of all Americans.”
The case is the result of an investigation by the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office.�� Assistant U.S. Attorney Julia E. Barry for the Western of District of Oklahoma and Trial Attorney Laura Gilson of the Civil Rights Division are prosecuting the case.

The battalion consolidated at 21:09, point seven-nine miles outside the colony perimeter. Nineteen units, clad in freshly stereo-lithographed polymer modules. Each figure stood twice the height of the average human, yet their pneumatic joints allowed a far greater range of flexibility, permitting them to alter their profile in a nano-second. Their casing was painted with dazzle camo in a variety of intelligent paint which was able to react to the changing light and adjust hue accordingly. The machines were equipped with a suite of incredible software, including analysis, trajectory plotting and enemy systems analysis; each also incorporated a small minifactorum which converted a variety of commonly-found objects and naturally-occurring elements into sources of fresh ammunition. Combined with the rechargeable power plant, adapted to run on biofuel (able to regain up to an hour’s charge from a common housefly) the machines were inexhaustible; quite inexhaustible, and the variety of energy and kinetic weapons they were capable of deploying were quite formidable.
The command unit was named UC-259-B. This is inaccurate, of course, for two reasons. Firstly its official designation was far longer, incorporating shorthand for its place of manufacture, the company that had designed it, the military force it was currently attached to, and about a dozen other things besides; but for the ease of the operators, and the brevity of the combat logs, it was referred to as UC-259-B. The second reason, of course, was that it possessed no name; no concept even of the importance of a name. Its designation was required solely by its operators.
At this precise moment, it was scanning the horizon for signs of remaining life and reviewing the terms and conditions of the mission parameters.
At 18:05, an update had been relayed from the commanders back on Earth. Hostiles confirmed in sector. Batallion 259-B instructed to mobilise at once. Removal of all hostiles from the colony was required.
The process had not taken long. The battalion had lost only one unit, taken out by an extremely improbable arcing shot fired by one of the hostiles. UC-259-B had deemed this loss acceptable and had made no modifications to its tactical subroutines. This had proven the correct course of action.
Now, the colony appeared to be empty. Vital sign scans revealed nothing. Heat mapping revealed nothing either.
And yet, visual receptors suggested conscious movement within the colony.
This information was being relayed over and over by the units. It was extremely unlikely to be a malfunction.
At length, one of the units, the one which was the closest in physical proximity to its command unit, spoke.
‘Proposal. Advance toward colony. Identify.’
The suggestion being relayed audibly was of course not required; it was there as a failsafe for the benefit of allied human forces. A careless engineer must have left it running.
Yet when the reply came from the command unit, this too was transmitted audibly; ‘Confirmed. Advance. Neutralise hostiles.’

Palm Unit - Hommage à Jef Gilson (Super-Sonic Jazz)
Over a career spanning half a century, Jef Gilson managed to occupy more or less every post in music, both possible and unimaginable. His name was up there on the French posters of the 60s and 70s, alongside the likes of John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson, Sun Ra or Ray Charles. He recorded the new wave (Byard Lancaster, Archie Shepp, David S. Ware...) in his studio and played jazz in all its guises, from the most traditional to the most abstract.
And yet everybody, or almost everybody, seems to have forgotten: Jef Gilson is the great absentee from the history books.
Palm Unit plays Gilson’s repertoire without any a priori, in a totally complex-free way, reinventing it whilst preserving its original essence. The keyboards sound almost psychedelic (and often not that far from the style of Eddy Louiss on Jef Gilson’s 60’s albums), the sax scratches, mews and wails, whilst the drums make the whole thing swing. Even Palm Unit’s special guest Del Rabenja, who plays the valiha (a small harp from Madagascar) and who was in Jef Gilson’s band in the 70s, featuring on several essential albums bearing the Palm imprint, was surprised to rediscover the songs still sounding so modern, decades after they were created.

Brazil’s Bolsonaro considers the UAE his ‘second country’
During the Invest in Brazil Forum this Monday (15), the president announced the opening of the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism’s office in Dubai to promote Brazil as a travel destination in the UAE and Gulf region. He participated in the Brazil Day at Expo 2020 and met with the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, among other activities.

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, stated this Monday (15) he considers the United Arab Emirates “his second country” and announced the opening of an office of the Ministry of Tourism in Dubai to promote tourism to Brazil in the region. He spoke at the opening ceremony of Invest in Brasil Forum, an event organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Federal Government, in partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dubai Chamber).
“We are opening a tourism office here in Dubai with support from our minister Gilson Machado,” said Bolsonaro. He highlighted the natural beauty of Brazil as unparalleled and invited those present to visit the country. “Our second visit here will strengthen our ties even more and will make you invest even more [in Brazil]. We are very close. More than just good partners, we are brothers. We are sure we will expand trade relations, and you are our preferred partners. I already consider this my second country,” said Bolsonaro.
After the event’s opening, ANBA spoke with the minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado, who confirmed the office could open in mid-January 2022. “We will open an Embratur office here in Dubai. [The main activities of the office will be] promoting Brazil in the Middle East and seeking partnerships; it will also focus on attracting investments and air connectivity,” he said.
In addition to Bolsonaro, several ministers and representatives of the private sector from Brazil and the Arab countries spoke at the forum (read more here), including the president of the ABCC, Osmar Chohfi, the president of the CNI, Robson Braga de Andrade, and the president of Apex-Brasil, Augusto Pestana.

Gilson Road Cemetery in New Hampshire
One of the other notable hauntings at the cemetery is the appearance of glowing lights, from faintly glowing orbs to more brightly glowing blue and white lights. Zigzag shaped mists, with almost a lightning pattern to them are the other commonly encountered phenomenon, especially in photos where they were not seen in person at the time.
There seems to be no official documentation for the beginning of Gilson road cemetery. Its thought the cemetery was built on an area used to bury a number of bodies before it was officially made into a cemetery and there are a number of unmarked graves on the site.
One particularly odd thing about the location of the cemetery is how isolated it is as there was no settlements in the surrounding area when the first graves were thought to have been placed there. Though the first graves which were placed in the area are thought to be Native American and then later on settlers placed a number of unmarked graves close to if not at the site of the cemetery.
The cemetery is still operating as such and can be found at Gilson Rd, Nashua, NH 03064, United States.
The cemetery is thought to be one of the most haunted places in New Hampshire and with good reason. There have been an alarming number of paranormal experiences here, and perhaps this is due to grizzly tales about its past.
There are several tales which are thought to be the reason the cemetery is so haunted, but whether these are true or not seems unlikely to ever be proven one way or another.
A lot of the hauntings in the area are thought to be because of Native American dead who were buried in the area which was blessed ground, and when outsiders started to use the area to bury their own dead, this angered the spirits and have made some restless. Apparitions of native Americans have been seen on a number of occasions.
Also another commonly sighted apparition is a lady in a white dress who is seen walking from an unmarked grave towards the wall at the back of the cemetery where she disappears, almost as if she is stuck in some kind of animated time loop.The lady in white is not the only spirit that lingers here, as people have claimed to see apparitions of all kinds, from men and women in various attire from the early 1800's onwards.
