I just saw the COLDEST fucking take on Tik Tok. Apparently Heathers "trivializes self-unaliving." I have no idea what this person said after that, because that take is so ill-informed I that I wasn't interested in the rest of what they had to say.

But to say that Heathers trivializes suicide is to totally misunderstand the point of the story. Veronica's self-destructive tendencies moving from self-harm to dangerous activities in the film, the way the film (and to some extent, the musical) point out the absurdity of how suicide is treated societally through the staff trying to ignore the events and Ms Flemming sensationalizing and creating suicide contagion by sharing the note, the way Martha's attempt is treated differently because the other students don't see her value, ALL of those things are a deep and nuanced depiction of suicide in youth.

If a viewer thinks Heathers trivializes suicide, they need to look again. That's like saying the Hunger Games trivializes child soldiers - you're missing the entire point of the story.

The problem was she had a little black book -> send in this prompt with one word and if it appears in one of my WIPs I'll respond with a snippet from that piece

I was out of place and time, and over the hill -> send me a snippet from one of my works and I'll break down my writing process for it, what I wanted to get across, what I struggled with, and any extra bits I can share about it
