Give a backstory for trans ginger medicine cat

so ! Gingerleaf is what im using as his name for rn- Ginger was born as Gingerkit to his doting parents and with three siblings- Goldkit, Lemonkit, and Redkit (his parents love color names).

He and his siblings had rough patches but ultimately stayed friends into adulthood. Ginger and Lemon tried to fight to become medicine cat apprentice because they both wanted to be and the current medicine cat let them compete. Ginger won, of course, but never stopped teaching what he learned to his brother.

He came out as trans whenever he became a full fledged medicine cat, having learned later in his life about it!

As a young apprentice, he and his sister, Tumblepaw were always competitive with each other, and did everything together. Consequently, their mentors Mistyleap and Sagefrost decided to train them together often. Sagefrost would take both Tumblepaw and Gingerpaw out and vice-versa. Gingerpaw lived a wonderful, typical apprentice life, despite the death of his mother when he was younger. Sagefrost, as their mother's sister, filled the void of a maternal relationship.

Until Sagefrost discovered a secret about her family that she didn't like, becoming twitchy, aggressive, and paranoid, and even turning to the Dark Forest, a fact she would later confide in Gingerpaw. This secret- one she never told anyone- manifested itself into a darkness inside her, and, while she maintained the appearance of one of the clan's most well-respected warriors on the outside, her inside deteriorated, as anyone close to her would soon notice.

Gingerpaw was one of the first to notice, questioning his aunt and pseudo-mentor. Sagefrost quickly latched onto his comfort and support, and Gingerpaw began to distance himself from his mentor, Mistyleap, his sister, Tumblepaw, and his father, Ivyfall, as he spent all his time comforting and hanging out with Sagefrost. They often had training secessions together... Training secessions that turned into something much darker. Gingerpaw wasn't sure if he enjoyed those 'secessions' as much as Sagefrost, but to see her happy made him happy, so he continued with them.

When he got his warrior name, Sagefrost asked him to be her mate. In the Clans, incest was inevitable, and as long as the pair weren't parent-and-kit or siblings, then the couple would generally be accepted, although aunts and uncles getting with their nephews and nieces was frowned upon, depending on the clan's current status and how close the family was. Gingerleaf couldn't say no to her, even though he didn't really want to be her mate. The two soon had kits, and Gingerleaf found himself detached from the kits, never truly loving them. Sagefrost seemed to notice this and often pressured him to watch them or comment on how much he loved them or her, growing more and more desperate.

As their relationship went on, the clan began to take notice of their unharmonious and unequal relationship. Tumblefoot in particular was vocal about her disapproval, noting that her brother and Sagefrost had been too 'close' when he was an apprentice. Eventually, through coaxing from Tumblefoot and Ivyfall, Gingerleaf broke up with Sagefrost. It utterly broke Sagefrost, which made Gingerleaf feel immensely guilty and try to make her happy again, but his sister made him stay away from her and not succumb to her toxicity.

When Sagefrost was discovered drowned in the river, Gingerleaf couldn't help but blame himself, feeling truly as though he was responsible. But with support from his family and clanmates, he found himself flourishing, able to live a happier life without Sagefrost. He grew close with his apprentices, Kinkflower and Kestrelfrost, but always kept them at a tail's length away, afraid he'd become like Sagefrost.

Naw Doh brought her mom and some farmers from Novick Family Urban Farm to visit Truelove Seeds today, just like last year. This time, they brought a feast, and we harvested lots of vegetables to add to it, and for them to cook at home: turmeric leaf, ginger leaf, spilanthes leaf, pumpkin leaves (for soup) green tomatoes (for the tea leaf salad), and some type of smooth-stemmed bedstraw that grows like a weed, which they simply call “bitter leaf”. I am very grateful to this Karen refugee community from Burma for providing some of the seeds in our catalog (White Garden Eggplant and Rat-Tail Radish) and also for teaching me about all the edible, delicious foods right under my feet. Naw Doh’s favorite is pumpkin leaf, and she said our Lunga di Napoli Squash, with it’s green and white coloring, was the right type of leaf, unlike the Halloween pumpkins whose leaves are plain green and don’t taste good. She demonstrated how to easily peal the strings off the leaves and vines to make it more pleasant to chew in the soup. We ate truly ripe soft yellow cucumbers cooked in a lovely soup. We had deliciously sour Chin Baung (Roselle Leaf) sautéed with bamboo and shrimp, and Naw Doh shared their traditional seeds for this plant so that my friends in Florida can help regenerate them. We learned about the small squat pumpkin-shaped bitter eggplant that is eaten every year in the mountains of Burma as health insurance. The earth provides. ThunderClan’s leader is Lightstar, formerly Lightshine. Flintstar was leader before him. His deputy is Brackenlily. The medicine cat is Finchfeather, who’s apprentice is Gorsepaw, the son of Bluebellshine. The eldest warriors are Fallowpelt, Graytail, Gooseclaw, and Pikewhistle. The youngest warriors are Burrfoot, Timbertail, Berrybelly, Fowlspark, and Spiralblaze. The elders are Weedfeather, Echobounce, and Newtpond. Cindershine is nursing Berrybelly’s kits, Flamekit and Thornkit. Lynxwing and Hawksting are recruiting cats for their anti-StarClan group, MoonClan.

Bumblestar is leader of ShadowClan, having taken over after Slatestar’s short reign. Her daughter, Webwing, is her deputy. The medicine cat is Hornettail. The eldest warriors are Spottedcloud, Flyshade, Thrushclaw, Hatchfur, and Graceflower. The youngest warriors are Lichenpelt, Poppyclaw, Rainstorm, Leaffeather, Cloudwing, Stepfoot, and Twigfire. Cloudwing and Stepfoot are the offspring of Cedarburr and Silverdusk, and they have two deceased siblings named Littlekit and Twistkit. Cloudwing is mates with Blacktail of RiverClan. Twigfire is the son of Bayblaze. The elders are Logtail, Otterfur, and Filly. The current apprentices are Poppypaw, who’s mentor is Archshadow, Petalpaw, trained by Rainstorm, and Orangepaw, trained by Angelflame. They are the offspring of Poppyclaw and Frillsong. Frillsong is nursing another litter of she-kits, named Juniperkit and Berrykit. Lichenpelt, Poppyclaw, and Rainstorm are working with Lynxwing and Hawksting, while Leaffeather hesitates to join his siblings.

WindClan’s leader is Finstar, whose deputy is Tuliptail. The medicine cat is Shadenettle. The oldest warriors are Springjump, who’s planning on retiring, Lostholly, Brightclaw, Whitepool, and Grassflight. The youngest warriors are Duskdapple, Minnowglow, Deershade, Squirrelfeather, Creamfur, and Acornpelt. Squirrelfeather and Creamfur are the offspring of Sandytail and Weaselsnap, along with their deceased brother Tumblekit. Acornpelt is the son of Breezefleck and Grassflight. Deershade is nursing Branchtoe’s sons, Flintkit and Ryekit. The elders are Covescreech and Wildfawn. The apprentices, Stormpaw, mentored by Bubblepool, and Boulderpaw, mentored by Heatherleg, are the offspring of Swallowsong. Redpelt killed Halfheart and was exiled from WindClan, now living as a loner.

The leader of RiverClan is Tinystar, who took over after Perchstar. Lionfang is her deputy. The medicine cats are Specklespark and Rootsleet. The eldest warriors are Dewtail, Gingerleaf, Shrewheart, and Romeofeather. The youngest warriors are Kestrolfrost, Grubnose, Plumpflower, Rookclaw, Songwish, Dewysnow, and Blacktail. Blacktail is the song of Sorrelflash and Nightpath, along with his deceased sister, Birdpaw. Tawnypaw, trained by Leapordear, Olivepaw, trained by Kestrelfrost, and Quickpaw, trained by Shrewheart, are the kits of Hazebird. Songwish is the mother of Hawkkit and Coldkit. Ivyfall is an elder who is nearly deaf, while Slowriver is an elder with crushed hindlegs formerly named Runningriver.

Deadstar is currently leader of SkyClan, with Feathertuft as his deputy. The medicine cat is Foxnight. The eldest warriors are Brokenflower, Nettlefang, Shimmersun, Ashfern, and Dovesong. Lichenheart has retired into the elders’ den alongside Beebird and Tallfleck. The youngest warriors are Antspark, Sandflare, Birchwillow, and Dimfoot. Dimfoot is the son of Rustlefur. The apprentices, Wildpaw, trained by Rustlefur, and Leappaw, trained by Shimmersun, are the daughters of Sagewind. There are no kits or pregnant queens in SkyClan currently. Dimfoot works with Lynxwing and Hawksting.

what's your favorite oc character arc that you've made?

Oh gosh hmmm

I have this old warriors oc named Vipertail. He started off as a pretty aggressive, stubborn, and determined cat, quick to argue but slow to really fight. He went through a lot of growth, especially in regards to his sister and peers. His sister, Blossomflower, had a stunted hind leg, and Viperkit/paw was always very protective of her, even as she strived to be more independent and prove herself as a warrior. As a young warrior, Vipertail started to become more inquisitive and less concerned about what others thought of him, especially in regards to Snowwatcher, who considered each other their rivals. He gets in to quite a bit of trouble and grows indecisive and insecure after ThunderClan dissolved into several groups after some leadership issues go down. Vipertail struggles with himself for a while and gains a crush on Ashdove which really does not help things considering there’s a war about to happen. He‘s a main player in this war and challenges Gingerleaf, the antagonist, directly, but he isn’t the one to kill her. Both Snowwatcher, who is now his best friend, and Ashdove end up dying (though Ashdove much later on) and he struggled with grief and depression for quite a while, even as he juggled fatherhood (Ashdove had had a litter before her death) and deputyship. By the time of his death, Vipertail had gone from a stubborn and disrespectful apprentice to a loyal, dependable, somewhat distrustful, and wise but troubled deputy. I can’t quite explain it without actually writing his huge, multi book story, but Vipertail is one of my older ocs who I still quite adore ((and I’m actually surprised his story is actually good lmao though this was before I realized being lgbtq+ was a thing so I could definitely rectify that))
