aaah mack, thank you for sending me this!! im a bit embarrassed to answer because im not as prolific as i wish i was, and my confidence in my stories tends to diminish with time since im never satisfied and always think i could have done better (imposter syndrome my old friend), but here are what i consider my 5 favorites in no particular order:

how fools fall in love 126k | ginhiji — somehow this became a classic in the ginhiji fandom despite the time it took me to finish and my terribly irregular updates. i reread it recently and it made me cherish not only the characters but my fandom friends so much! always a sure read when in the mood for slowburn and angst.

ceremonials 29k | ginhiji — my post-canon ginhiji fic has some of the best character writing i've ever done imo. it's also a breather for me because i get to write ginchan and toshi being properly together, leaning on each other and healing.

when silver turned white 32k | ginhiji — one of my favorites because of its structure and plot. it's not too long but i managed to cram all my angsty headcanons and fit them into the plot of bfy movie. i also LOVED to write ginchan and toshi in other timelines/ages, which i plan to do again soon!

beware the desert 15k | skysolo — occasionally i go and reread this one and can't believe i wrote it because it hits every beat, it contains every single thing i love about skysolo and depicts so clearly the han solo i have in my head i could cry. honestly, im so glad i took the time (a year if i remember correctly) to write this down because it's made specifically for me and i don't think anyone else could have done it.

give heartache a name 25k | sterek — im so specific about stiles' characterization in fics that i had to write my own because after the movie came out this year the dormant sterek part of my brain came alive after a decade and i needed to put down my love for both these idiots. i think i've reread this story at least 50 times because i wanted it to be canon so much. i know i sound like a loser but i get so giddy about older stiles and derek. as the kids say nowadays, i am cringe but i am free.

im also nuts about my ginhiji zombie au which i fear i may never finish because im always thinking about expanding the plot instead of tying it all up and finish so i can start taking my og writing seriously. oh well.

Valentine’s Day came and went with little fanfare, because neither Kyuubei nor Otae knew what to do with it. Who was supposed to be The Man in their relationship, anyway? Well, thought Kyuubei, I am clearly the more masculine of us two. I will wait for White Day to roll by, and then I’ll pull some romantic declaration out of my ass that’s so life-changing we get married on the spot. This plan is flawless. Well, thought Otae, these gender stereotypes are pretty outdated anyway, I wouldn’t want to stick Kyuubei in The Man box against their wishes. The progressive thing to do would be to wait for them to make the first move for White Day and just follow their lead. Suffice it to say, Kyuubei received zero chocolates on Valentine’s day. Everything went to shit.

There are times where he, as a main character, just really, really appreciates Sazae-san time.

This is not one of those times.

Because being stuck in Sazae-san time for this particular fic means that even though Soichirou called a commercial break at the end of last chapter, he's been stuck in a cycle of Instant Regret to Mortification to More Regret for however long this author took to update this chapter. It means that he's been stuck in a tiny room with three idiots, for however long, holding his head in his hands and wondering what the hell he has to do to get a hole in the ground to open up and swallow him.

Adding some variety this time with a Sakata Gintoki x Hijikata Toushirou anthology fic collection. This one is actually the second book I did! I had a hard time deciding the anthology name since I was like ugh silver and iron sounds too pretentious- and then figured a title that was pretentious and then proceeded to make fun of it for being pretentious is a very Gintama thing to do, and ended up rather pleased with the title.

Since it was the second thing I typeset I ended up with a few issues in the final print (and binding... I didn't intend for a straight spine but forgot about rounding it, but a lot of people like to leave their spines straight anyways so it's fine) that I'm tempted to go back and fix and maybe redo the whole thing another time (we do not talk about the inverted page number positions. Is this why the icha icha series numbers are all centered instead of on the outside of the page? No absolutely not) but in the end I still enjoy it the way it is, so for now I'm at peace with it.

Originally I was actually going to add little designs above each title page of each story, but in the end I got to trigger-happy for the printing and bookbinding process and printed it before I drew the designs. I did in the end while bored draw the designs after, so maybe I will eventually redo the book. We'll see.

Hijikata gets ordered by Kondo to go on a vacation. For some reason, he runs into Gintoki there.

I told you once (and here's the twice) (3k, M)

“Ah, stern as always. You never change, do you, Hijikata-kun?”

“And you always do whatever you want to”.

“Right, I’m working on that”, and then Yorozuya lifts his hand and takes Hijikata’s cigarette from his mouth, placing it between his own teeth. Hijikata himself is too stunned to do anything other than just look at his mouth, lips curved over where his own had been just moments before, his body now kicked into high alert as if responding to an imminent threat.

An animal realizing they’re prey.

No one really comments on the change in their relationship, and Hijikata doesn’t know how to feel about the general air of lack of surprise around them.

Gintoki always thought that both he and Hijikata were just really good bros. They were just two normal bros who played Super Smash and joked around after school at WacDonalds. What's your favorite ship of all time?

I have two: ZoSan and GinHiji. HOWEVER, if I were to pick one, I'd say it's ZoSan.

I love love-hate & rivals-to-lovers dynamic (I guess it shows), but aside from that, ZoSan is a ship that has deepness to it. There's a lot uncover, especially because their characters are like the ocean; It's deep and beautiful. The more you discover something about them, the more you want to explore. And when combined, it goes even deeper.

In short, words are never enough to describe it. I can talk about them for hours without fail, and we'll never finish. HAHAHAHA.

so, i don’t really know much about the gintama fanbase, but i’ve seen a few people thrash both tsukuyo and hijikata for being shipped with gintoki; as in, tsukuyo is hated for ‘getting in the way’ of other gintoki ships and being a tsundere, and some have said that hijikata is nothing but gintoki’s bottom or something like that. and these takes are wrong. soooo wrong

hijikata and tsukuyo are waaaay more interesting, complex, funny, and well-developed than that. whether you ship gintsu, ginhiji, or neither, you can’t deny that. they’ve both been given many arcs (plot-driven and comedy-driven) and stories centered around them that prove my point

they also resemble gintoki (as seen in the baragaki arc with hijikata) or have similar backstories to his (as seen in the red spider arc with tsukuyo), and they have an emotional connection to him that goes beyond these similarities

the three of them are kind of tsunderes, too. maybe that is more up to interpretation than my other points, but you can’t criticize tsukki for being a tsundere when half of the gintama cast is such or, at least, have strange ways of showing and accepting affection and gratitude

aaaand the people who like both ships make great art and fics. i mean, i’ve consumed and enjoyed both ships, i have a bisexual gintoki agenda, and an ao3 account. you can’t blame me. just look at the canon content!

remember, if you dislike any ship or character, just mute or block the words. it’s not that hard, and it only adds to your enjoyment of fandom spaces.
