So I just learned about GintamaWeek2021 and I thought I could join!

I know the prompts say “option” but I will just take all three of them, answer them and try to make at least one piece of artwork for every day. That’s also a great way for me think about what I like about this series. 

Starting with Day 4: “Do cherries come from cherry trees?”

Favorite Scene

That one is really hard, there are so many good scenes. I usually would tend to choose a ship scene but I’m not gonna do that, there are better scenes. Also contrary to probably most fans, I’m not choosing something from a serious arc or a fight. Most likely, my favorite scene is from episode 113 where Kondo gets stuck in the (massive) hole. It was the best thing ever the first time I watched it and it still cracks me up every time I see it. But the scene is not complete without the follow up later when Hijikata finds him stuck again.

Favorite Minor Character

Mhh.. does Bansai count as a minor character? If yes, it’s Bansai!

Other than that.. Taka-tin!

Favorite Quote

Gintama has a lot of nice quotes and almost everything Gintoki says can be used as a favorite quote lol. But since I’m shipping trash, the ones you can see in the attached art are two of my favorite lines. I made this artwork in June already, but it fits, so it’s nice that I can reuse it. The lines are from two different arcs, but I like them because they are so simple, yet effective and imo say a lot about the characters.

Favorite Bond - Sakata Gintoki and Hijikata Toushirou

Whether they're your brotp or not, you can't help but love their bond. Both hating to admit their concern for each other, but deep down a sense of respect and care. We see it obviously show more openly towards to end, but there were so many moments, from when they first meet, that just made me love their relationship.
