Here’s a bit of fun folklore.

The largest rock in Denmark is nothing much to look at if you come from an area with mountains but Denmark is mainly made of sand and dirt that was pushed down from Sweden and Norway during the ice age and they gifted us a few big rocks in the process.

The biggest rock came to rest on Funen and became the focus of much lore. People couldn’t figure out how such a huge rock ended up in the middle of a field and eventually named it Damestenen which means The Lady’s Rock (or very directly and literally translated to LadyStone)

It was named so because people believed it had been thrown by a woman. Sometimes a human woman, sometimes a magical witch and sometimes a troll woman, but either way she supposedly got angry at Svindinge Church and threw the rock at it but missed.

It’s not uncommon to explain large or weird rocks near churches as someone wanting to destroy it. Roskilde Church where all the Danish royals are buried has this stone nearby

It’s said to look like that because the devil or a troll threw it and his fingers dug into the stone.

But The Lady’s Rock is the only one believed to have been thrown by a woman which is pretty fun.

So I’m constantly going back and fourth with who Robin’s gonna end up with in Illustrated, because apparently she wants both Nancy AND Chrissy. 

I am like, this close to letting her have both, anyway here’s a snippet. 

"What if he doesn't want to talk?"

Robin and Nancy both trail off, blinking like stunned little owls.

Chrissy fidgets under their attention, a rosey blush creeping across her cheeks. 

She worries at her nails, picking idly at cuticles, but keeps her gaze up. 

"What if Victor Creel doesn't want to talk?" She asks again, and her voice solidifies a little. 

An awkward pause descends. Normally such a reaction would have Chrissy cringing away, worried she's spoken out of turn. That she's done what Jason and his friends always hate for their girlfriends to do, which is interrupt. 

"It's guy time, Chrissy. You wouldn't get it, so don't worry about it."

Chrissy is over that though.

Over Jason if she's perfectly honest and though the idea of what follows (having to break up with him, deal with the fallout from her parents, the cheer team and no doubt several coaches angry that she's going to mess up both teams seasons) makes her nauseous... 

It won't change her feelings.

Which means come what may, when this is over, she’s breaking up with him. 

"I didn't think of that." Nancy answers at last. She's got a deeply displeased look on her face, one that is expressed by Robin's loud: 

"Well, shit." 

Chrissy steels herself, sitting tall and proud, clenching her fingers together so hard her knuckles go white. "He might blow you guys off and we can't risk that so I'll--" her tongue hesitates on the next words. 

Her mouth is a gate that just doesn't want to open. A door she locked shut long ago and now doesn’t recall how to open itself back up--but she plows ahead anyway. 

Knows in her heart that it's the right thing to do. 

"I'll come with you." She says. 

Then rushes to explain, as Nancy's prim tiny eyebrows rise in surprise and Robin jolts backwards like a startled bird. 

"If I tell him I'm cursed, that he has the only information available to save me, to save Max--he might be more likely to help us. I can be your ace.” 

Robin tilts back forward, eyes sparking with ideas. "Like a secret weapon." She whispers, and Chrissy can't help but smile in her direction. 

Nancy on the other hand takes her time in thinking it over. She bites her lip and taps her socked foot, and Chrissy can practically see the wheels spin in her head.

Finally she nods, a quick jerk of her head. "Alright. Secret weapon. We can't risk you being outed as yourself though."

"Didn't your journalism minions whip us up backup fakes?"

"They're not my minions, Robin-" And the sheer offense in her voice makes Chrissy giggle. 

She tries to hide it by clapping her hand over her mouth, but Robin cuts her a sideways glance, a smile ticking up the corners of her mouth. 

She leans forward gently clasping Chrissy's wrist and pulls it away from her mouth. 

"You have a nice laugh, Cunningham. You should stop hiding it."

Saw a reddit post today about a girl who was upset that her childhood best friend replaced a photo of the two of them in his wallet with one of him and his girlfriend. And while yeah, she was being unreasonable with a lot of what she was saying, I totally understand the sadness of a friend "replacing" you with someone they have romantic feelings for. Makes it worse when the top comment is this

Every single comment on this post is about how family and romantic relationships always take precedence over friendships. I don't have anything more to say to this aside from the fact that... this is why it's hard for aroaces to imagine futures for themselves. Society drills it into your head that you're going to live in a world where you are no one's priority if you don't have romantic relationships and it fucking sucks

Disciplined - if a target is set, it is achieved 

Speaking - Can speak multiple languages. Can express thoughts clearly even if vocabulary is limited. The listener understands their point. 

Strong extroversion socially - can approach and talk to new people with ease, but also make them feel comfortable. Good at following up, asking questions and inserting little stories about themselves without exposing too much 

Strong general knowledge / industry knowledge. They know what they’re talking about 

Hard to please but not arrogant about it. They won’t readily accept a fact or opinion, even if the majority agrees - they’ll debate with it, think over it, play the devil’s advocate

Good posture

Strong set of principles and self control. There’s no shame in wanting to say, help someone, choose not to drink socially, buy a coffee for a poor person on the street; they don’t hesitate to do good deeds

the taylor swift ai porn issue is such a bleak reminder of how inescapable the horrors of misogyny are. like obviously there's the talk of sort of "celebrity problems" like treatment by the tabloids etc, but beyond that there's just the constant heinous shit that women seemingly cannot escape no matter what. it doesn't matter that she (as well as other female celebrities) is extremely rich and famous and successful and has basically as much privilege and power as it is possible for any person to have, ultimately that's still not enough to escape the revenge porn and sexual assault and stalking and harassment. like there is literally no level of power a woman can have that puts her out of reach of all the men who hate women and want to control and humiliate and subjugate us in any way they can.

That thing people do with female characters where they like, in their attempts to compensate for the unfairly negative way that female characters are often treated by fandoms they end up overshooting and just making them Too Good and flawless and endlessly caring and loving and patient and incapable of doing or being wrong and just removing everything that's distinctive about the character, making her completely flat & forgettable & uninteresting, because they don't want to say anything about her or depict her doing anything that might possibly be interpreted negatively.
