Hey  disney released a movie on disney pluscalled raya i ostatni smok online did youknow that of course you didn't causethey barely advertised it from what isaw and they've released it on the sameday as the one division finale which iswhy no one's talking about itthank you so much disney i love how youdo that to your original projectsbut i mean it could be worse at leastthey didn't charge 30 dollars for it forpremier access like they did with mulanoh wait silly me that's exactly whatthey didi actually don't think they want anyoneto see this moviethey really couldn't have waited a weekto release it so it would be the onlything coming out they couldn't have justnot charged 30 for it considering theygave us soul for freewhatever i watched the movie and it'sfine now i had no expectations for thismovie considering this studio hasn'tmade anything excellent in five yearsand 

because of my lack of expectations ihad a perfectly pleasant time with thisadequate filmit's got some really strong stuff likethe score by james newton howardwhenever he scores a disney movie itsoundsabsolutely incredible and he hasn'tscored one since treasure planetin 2002 i don't know why it took 19years for him to come back butby god it was worth the wait the scoreis so goodi also think the world building in thisfilm is pretty neat it's not the sort ofsetting most disney films have and ifound it absolutely intriguing andenjoyable there's some cool actionscenes here and theremost of the voice actors do a reallygood job and there's some fun sidecharacters as welli love this kid who sells shrimp on aboat and i kind of wish the movie wasabout him to be honest he's so funi like this big eye patch man this babycrime boss and her monkey goons werepretty funand the titular character raya is reallyenjoyable as well i like how herexperiences have kind of hardened herand how she's unwilling to trust othersbased on her past and the interactionsshe has with his rivalare really fun 

as well she also has asword that works exactly like biolithsandi think that is neat however thesecharacters aren'tamazing and i think the biggest reasonwhy is that there's justtoo many of them i wish raya herself andher rival could get more focus anddevelopment but when you got such alarge ensemble castit just kind of turns into rogue onewhere you enjoy these people but younever really get to know them as well asyou'd likei understand that the cast needed to bethis large in order for the ending towork and it's a good ending buti just wish we got more of thesecharacters than just five minutes ofintroduction and then having them be inthe background for the rest of thejourneyspeaking of which this journey is moreor less a standard mcguffin quest wherewe gotta collect the things for a thingto workit's not a particularly interesting plotand i feel like every location they goto is kind of breezed over for the sakeof keeping the quest movingi never really got a good feel for anyof these places and i feel like moretime spent in each of them would havebeen idealat the very least the talon town wouldhave been cool to show more of thatplace is pretty awesome there's alsotons of potentially intriguingcharacters that the movie sets uponly to not use ever which was reallydisappointinganother issue with this movie is thatthere's just so much modern talkin it and it really makes the screenplayfeel kind of cringe-worthy at a lot ofpointslike i want to get invested in theseancient dragon filled lands but then wegotta make jokes about how these girlsare dragon nerds andoopsie poopsy we're doing a groupproject now andoh boy i will get to you but yeahimagine that jokemaui made about tweeting but now there'slike 15 of thoseit gets old pretty fast honestly ireally hate to say this but moana waskind of the perfect version of what thismovie is going forit only focuses on a couple charactersmaking them well developedthe quest is a lot simpler and doesn'tfeel as mcguffin heavyand overall the message 

didn't feelnearly as heavy-handed as it doesin this movie this movie really hammersit in that raya's problem is that shecan't trust peopleand i feel like they should have shownthat more than they told itthere are just so many conversationsabout her lack and trust in peopleand i feel like they could have conveyedthat better through her interactionswith others but oh well by all accountsthe movie's still pretty enjoyablei don't miss the song since it's a moreactiony tone and i don't have any othermajor problems with the film look howclose my butt is to my headoh wait yes i do aquafina isn't funnyand i hate her character so much she'sso annoying oh my godi mean she's better than chris pratt andonward but this is yet another case of acelebrity voice casting just absolutelytanking a character nothing she eversays is funny and i had enough of herafter about
