OWN MY MIND: 9.5/10
STARTING WITH A BANGER OMG It's so fire I started bouncing when it got to the chorus it's so good and an awesome choice for an opening track we're off to an amazing start. Very punk-esque and the lyric video fits the same vibe.
GOSSIP: 9/10
Obviously I've already shared my thoughts about this song and I'd be lying if I said it hasn't grown on me more since I made that statement. I've been singing it to myself everyday while I cook for like four days now. It's so catchy, the MV is a total vibe, and I do like the meaning behind it.
TIMEZONE: 9/10
These are lyrics to definitely scream when you're just going through a bad time. I mean I know it's symbolic of a long distance relationship but I feel like many people can relate to it. Also love that little sexy bit snuck into the middle there lmao
BLA BLA BLA: 10/10

Obviously we've all heard this song before but I'm glad they put it on the album because I've been wanting so save it so bad lmao but it's such a powerful song and I can feel the activist rage radiating off of it every time I listen to it.

Personally, I tried to avoid listening to as many concert versions of the song as I could until now because I wanted to go in somewhat blankly and I'm so glad I did because THAT WAS AWESOME I LOVE IT and I think I'm starting to notice a pattern with all the songs I'm rating 10s lmao
IF NOT FOR YOU: 8/10
This is a song that you need to have blasting in your headphones while you gaze longingly out of a car window while it's raining, watching the drops race down the glass and rooting for one in particular, only for them to join together to make one drop in the end and that's the only way I can describe this song. I can see Må performing this live and the entire crowd is just belting out the lyrics right along with them.

PUNK ANTHEM HELL FUCKING YEAH I'M IN LOVE also another astounding guitar solo? THOMMY YOU ABSOLUTE MAD LAD THE TALENT YOU HOLD IS INDESCRIBABLE. 100% ANOTHER FAVE TRACK. Also, aesthetically speaking, the lyric video is everything I wanna be and more.
MARK CHAPMAN: 10/10
SURPRISE IT'S IN ITALIAN I love this one so much I CAN'TTT it's so good it had me jumping in my mf chair !!!!! And AGAIN WITH THE BOMB ASS GUITAR SOLOS THOMAS RAGGI YOU REALLY POPPED OFF WITH THESE THINGS plus the lyric video is so special to me I know it's just them walking back and forth but it's special how they each have their own runway walk I can't explain it you either get it or you don't
LA FINE: 9.5/10
I've already shared my thoughts about this but it definitely has that Teatro D'Ira Vol. 1 vibe we've all been dearly missing and it's just an incredible sound that will always be iconic
IL DONO DELLA VITA: 9.5/10
If y'all thought LA FINE was reminiscent of TDV1, you're gonna LOVE this one. It sounds so much like it that I can't help but listen to it and be like "That's the Måneskin I know" because it's SO symbolic of their sound. The way I view it is that this song, just based on sound and vibes alone, is LA PAURA DEL BUIO's younger, more emo sibling and no I will not take criticism on that because I know I'm right. Also the lyric video is majestic and I'm right about that too.
MAMMAMIA: 10/10
Again, another one we've all heard and there's no debate it's incredible and I still come back to the MV and lyric video every now and again because they're just as iconic as the song itself.
SUPERMODEL: 8/10
This one has truly divided the fandom lmao but for me personally I like it and it's a song I listen to and then forget about for a bit and then I listen to it again and remember how much I love it. Idc it slaps and it's in my playlist for a reason.
THE LONELIEST: 10/10
Again, no question. The perfect song to cry to while simultaneously screaming the lyrics. The MV is a cinematic masterpiece and the song is so emotionally wracking in the perfect way. Damiano's lyrics are either fun and quirky, super fucking angsty, or poetically deep and meaningful there is no in between.
CONCLUSION: This album is a No-Skips album and probably one of the best albums I've ever heard and I will not be listening to anything else for the next month. Thank you and goodnight.

Stray Kids 5-Star Review
This album did not disappoint, but I think that phrasing has become pretty cliché when talking about Stray Kids. I've loved almost everything they've put out, so I was a little nervous that this would be the one that did let me down.
I should know better. These guys are still amazing, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every song here. The S-Class MV is spectacular, and I can't stop watching the choreography, it's mesmerizing.
That being said, here's my reviews of the individual songs:
Hall of Fame
Love this album starting out with Seungmin's voice. This man deserves more of this. I also like the call back to Changbin's Doodle. Originally not one of my favorites, but it's growing on me the more I listen to it. All in all a fun track, but not their deepest and that’s ok, it doesn't have to be to hit hard.
S-Class
These. Boys. This song is a killer and they know it. Love the contrast of Seungmin and Felix's voices. Changbin never disappoints. I.N. on the bridge is angelic. This sticks in my head so bad, all day. They described the sound they were going for as "funnily annoying" and they hit it and I can't be mad. Dang.
Item
This song just shows off the musical humor that absolutely endeared me to Stray Kids from the beginning. I adore how they play with the game sounds and references. The whole thing is ridiculously catchy. People keep comparing it to Domino, but to me its more like Cheese. Just a great, funny, confident clap back at their haters and I love it.
Super Bowl
God's Menu, but sexy. I'm glad they went with God's Menu first, it's definitely the better song, but this is a fun sequel. Like, how many food/restaurant related lines can we stuff into a song and still make it sound sultry? Also, I LOOOOVE what they've done with the rhythm in this one. It's unique and delightful.
Topline
Aside from the not quiiiite there vulgarity, I love this one. The beat is incredible, they clearly love it and it shows. The lyrics are fairly typical "I'm awesome so don't act like you're as good as me", but they have some clever moments. I loved the reference to "rolling my waves" on the "grand line". There's also a sense of "Yeah, we're good, but we're not resting on our laurels. There's more to do" that I like.
DLC
Look, Changbin's intros are legendary, but this time he's SINGING? Yes, lets go! Love that for him, he needs to sing more often. This one is so dang catchy, and I know I'm going to be singing along a lot. It's got a sad undertone of loneliness in pain, but there is hope there, a desire to escape the prison by doing something you love, and I get that.
Get Lit
Feels like a sequel to DLC, but with a lot more confidence. I loved the line "we're not gonna die young", and reference to playing the music on your phone even after the speaker dies gives a feeling of "keep going, keep dancing even when things are tough." Also just so dang catchy.
Collision
This is a very different style for them, and they pull it off beautifully. I hope these guys have healthy relationships one of these days. The lyrics are gorgeous though because of course they are since Han wrote them.
FNF
This may very well be my favorite track. For all that it's a catchy, driving chorus, the pathos of this can't be denied. They use Seungmin, I.N., and Felix's voices to perfection to drive home the desperation of helplessness in watching something terrible happen to a place you love. It leaves you with a feeling of hope and recovery, but not without feeling deeply their pain and loss.
Youtiful
Aside from the slightly cheesy portmanteau, this song really is sweet. I think it may be the first fully English original song on an album, and the reasoning behind it is kind and comforting. On top of that, we get to hear all the guys flexing their vocals, and I am ALWAYS down for that. In this instance VocalRacha and Hyunjin really shine, but they all sound amazing. It's great to hear Felix singing more and with greater confidence as well.
The Sound
This one never fails to hit hard, and I think it may be one of my favorite "translated" pieces. I usually struggle with these because my brain gets used to whatever language I heard it in first, and anything else feels weird, but this one feels very natural. Maybe it's just because I love the song, but I'm not arguing.
Time out
Fun, summery, delightful. This one will always have a place in my playlists.
I love all of the songs, and they deserve all the hype they are getting for this album. There may be a day when Stray Kids disappoints me, but it is not this day!

FINALLY. after many heart attacks I had to go through, I listened to it completely.
sooo far my thoughts are..
•my personal favourite is “satellite” because ITS SO GOOD to sing this song, super fun, so cool.
•Also cinema was sexy, (and not stunty surprisingly),
•daylight is DOPE
•daydream: DOPE
•I’m not sure what to think of the sushi 🍣 song, it’s very different…
•love of my life… have no words because in the album teaser we heard the tune. AND I WAS LIKE: this tune IS SO FUCKING GOOD. And I’m soo happy that this tune was used in this song. Because the song screams “i LOVE LOVING you..”
•I don’t know about “keep driving”, it’s good but didn’t struck me that much i guess.
•I mean “boyfriends” is still one of my favourites.. because of the “youuu, you love a foooool who knows just how to get under your skin..” part.
It’s soft, just like what I was expecting from the album tbh. But surprisingly album is not that “home-y” and “Harry’s house-y” it give me a very different vibe, I don’t know why they went with “home-y album promotion” but okay..
By the way his voice is sometimes so high that I thought a female voice was singing some parts. I don’t remember which song that was. BECAUSE MY MIND CANT COMPREHEND ANYMORE. IM BRAIN DEAD. But it was his voice. And it was incredible because his voice is majestic and angelic throughout the album.
•Late night” is great for concerts but I dunno really 🤷🏼 I didn’t like it that much when I first heard it, not as much as boyfriends definitely.
•Mathilde..? it’s a heartbreaking story, I think she deserves a music video for herself, because it’s about a sad troubled child growing up alone, and many queer people can relate to this, it would be good to make a mv and queercode it. It’s deep.
•Grape juice, yeah clearly about wine but the tune is very good and I liked the beginning of it so much, it was like hard ROCK at first, then soft, a striking entrance.
•little freak: the title is self explanatory for Harry I guess, he’s a little freak and he shows it, I liked the “im very comfortable with my partner and I spilled beer on his friend’s shirt, and I’m not sorry about it” part. He’s like bratty about it :D.
And I got a bit of one direction vibe, (very weird, because it’s not like any other one direction song definitely) I also got a bit of zayn’s “sweat” song vibe, (weird again) I think it’s because of harry’s voice while singing, zayn and harry’s voices are sometimes very similar when Harry makes his voice higher. So maybe that was that. anyways. 💀
• I almost forget to mention “as it was”.. loll. I think “as it was” is probably one of the top three songs I liked in the album. I relate to it as a trans person, I relate to it as a child who had “daddy issues”. And the tune is sooo lasting. It gets stuck in your head, and you mumble the lyrics all the time. Love that.
overall this album is great!

Definitely will be obsessed with some songs in there, maybe “satellite” and “boyfriends” because they are really good.

you're sitting on your couch in your apartment transfixed by the video on the tv in front you when your phone vibrates next to you, pulling you from your trance.

it was your sweet boyfriend, dejun, wondering if you had already seen the music video for his unit's new song.
he must not have thought that you would be watching the clock, ready by your tv for it to be posted so you could see just what he had been up to the past few weeks. dejun was being oddly secretive about this comeback in particular. normally he would be running to you, excited to show you some new choreo or sing for you since you always expressed how much you loved it. to be frank, he loved the praise.
so it was surprising that this time he shared almost nothing about this new song with you. but now, after watching the music video about six times and repeating his parts several more, you understand why.
you're almost thankful that he never came to you and showed you anything before the release, because the finished product was overwhelming, to say the least. and if he showed up in front of you with that, you might not have let him finish his part.
you grabbed your phone immediately to answer him.

you were...
you were at a loss for words. there was nothing you loved more than seeing dejun looking so confident on stage, feeling good and shining under the spotlight. the way he lost himself in his performance took your breath away every time - and made you extremely hot. he was irresistible.
dejun giggled to himself at your reaction, knowing exactly the effect it had on you and how you were feeling. he just wished he could get there quicker.

he knew very well that you were practically drooling over him, but he wanted to hear it. the only validation he really cared for was yours. it made him feel so good and made him want to do whatever it would take to please you and hear it more.
you scoffed at his message, but gave in anyway. dejun deserved to be praised, worshipped even, for his efforts.

dejun smiled at your message and waited for you to finish typing.

on the other end of the phone dejun was hiding his very red face in his hand, your words affecting him so strongly that he was sure the other members could see his thoughts floating through the air.
a sudden wave of heat came over him, the crowded van now too hot for him and the heavy thoughts that invaded his mind. he needed to be alone, but he had to wait a little longer.
he wanted you. he wanted to see you and hear you say all of those things to him. the thought was quickly overtaking him and his sense, and he knew he needed to get out of the car soon or else he might embarrass himself- and the other members.
he mentally cursed the traffic in the city and pulled up his phone to text you back.

your heartbeat picked up at that.
you don't have any schedules for the day?
no, i'm free for tonight. we just left practice and we're on the way home. i'm sure manager-nim could give me a ride if that's okay?
you hesitated for a moment, though you weren't really pondering it. the answer was always yes. another message came through before you could reply.

it felt like your mouth was going dry, you needed him just as much. it felt like it had been so long since you had him all to yourself. you typed three letters and tossed your phone onto the cushions of the couch, rushing to your room to change.

dejun had to hold back the moan that threatened to fall past his lips. he was already planning on going to your place, knowing his free time was rare, but now that he was on his way he was getting restless.
he checked his gps to find they were less than ten minutes away from your apartment. with a sigh he put his phone in his pocket, focusing on looking as normal as possible for the rest of the ride.
it was only a few minutes after you'd finished getting ready that the sound of knocking filled your apartment.
you jumped and hurried to the door, hastily opening it and pulling dejun inside and checking that there was no one in the hall.
closing and locking the door, you turned and pulled him into a tight hug, not realizing how badly you missed your sweet boy.
dejun squeezed you back, melting into your touch and humming into your hair. it felt like coming home. he felt safe.
you were the first to pull away, stepping back to take his face in your hands and look at him. you removed the mask and threw it somewhere on the table nearest you, sighing at his beautiful features. often you wonder how he could even be real.
"hi," he whispered cutely, as if it were a secret.
you giggled, "hi baby. i've missed you."
he let his eyes close and leaned into your touch. he could be like this forever.
your eyes moved over his face to his blond hair, thinking back to the music video.
"so, that's what you were hiding from me, huh? you wanted to keep it a surprise?"
he lowered his head in your hand and nodded, as if he had done something wrong.
"wanted you to surprise you. i've been working really hard and i'm pretty satisfied with my parts. wanted you to see it when it was perfect."
your heart swelled at his confession. one of the things you loved most about your boyfriend was his passion. he always put his best into everything he did, and it always produced wonderful results.
you moved your hand to the back of his neck, playing with the hair there.
"you should be satisfied. you're amazing. i'm sure you're going to be everyone's new favorite once they see you."
you intended for it to make him feel good, stroke his ego a bit, he was always so humble.
dejun shook his head and held your waist in his hands, his slender fingers gripping at the fabric of your shirt.
"thank you," he buried his face into your hair, "just wanna be your favorite."
you pulled back with your hands on his shoulders, rubbing them and moving to his chest while his eyes followed your movement.
"you are my favorite boy, always have been, always will be."
you could feel his breathing quicken under your hands and decided to take it further.
"my favorite boy who dances so well, sometimes i can't believe ten is the lead dancer of the group."
he lifts his head at that, thick eyebrows arched, his warm eyes searching yours for any sign of bluffing.
you double down. "my favorite voice. the prettiest singing voice i've ever heard. and even speaking. i could listen to it for the rest of my life."
he lets out a whimper and grips your shirt tighter. that's when you're reminded that you're still standing at your door, and he's still in his coat and shoes.
you pause to slip his jacket off of his shoulders, hinting at him to come inside and get comfy.
dejun kicks off his shoes and follows as you guide him to your bedroom by the hand, heart thumping in his chest, his mind replaying your words on a loop.
once in your room, you gently push him back against the door, smoothing your hands over his chest, taking note of how much harder it's gotten in the last few months. the corner of your mouth twitches at that.
you continue your attack. "and you've been looking so delicious lately. your arms are so big and toned and your chest has gotten so broad. i could eat you whole."
you're careful not to overdo it so he doesn't overthink your compliments. you know he's a bit self-conscious about his body and you don't want to make him feel like you're teasing.
your words hit the right spot and he shivers, a low moan escaping him.
he tilts his head back against the door and you take the opportunity to press your lips to his neck, sucking lightly and leaving kisses up to his jaw.
"you've been working so hard, haven't you?" your fingers crawl under the hem of his light blue sweatshirt and up his sides causing goosebumps to rise beneath your fingertips.
"noona..." he croaks out.
you hum and continue nipping at his neck knowing how sensitive he is there while your hands make their way to his bare chest. you want to see him, but you want to work him up some more.
"my little boy has gotten so big, don't you think?" you drag out the word and feel his whole body flinch at the name. he loves when you call him that. it makes him feel safe and protected and, well, little.
dejun feels like his legs are going to give out at any moment. between the praise and your touches, he's surprised he's still comprehending any language at all.
you want to make him feel loved, to tell him what you see and show him how much you appreciate every bit of him, so you push on.
"you were so sexy. who said you could dance like that?" you finished your sentence with a pinch to his nipple, earning a cry from him.
"i just might get jealous," you teased, no seriousness behind the statement.
your fingers kept rubbing over his hardened nipples and it was making it hard to think. dejun never really said it, but he wanted you to be a bit possessive. he wanted you to want him, to claim him.
he shook his head, seemingly all he was capable of doing in this position, as he fished for words to respond.
"'m yours. your boy. no one else's." he was panting.
you fingers never let up on his nipples, circling and flicking them, only leaving them momentarily to drag your nails down his chest.
dejun's knees were getting weaker, buckling once and making you wrap your arms around him to keep him up.
you decided to stop your teasing and give him what he deserves.
"come on, baby boy, let's get you on the bed."
he just whined and allowed you to walk him to it, sitting him on the end as you moved to straddle him.
dragging your hands down his sides, you paused at the bottom of his hoodie, looking at him to ask for permission.
he nodded and lifted his arms for you to pull it the whole way off.
looking at him like this was like a break in the clouds, the light of the heavens shining on you and filling you with warmth. you could never get over how beautiful he was. every part of him held a different wonder to marvel.
"that's right. you are my boy. my special boy."
you leaned forward to press your lips against his tenderly, the first time since he'd arrived.
dejun tilted his head and let you lead, his tongue joining yours when it poked past his lips.
he tried to focus as your hands roamed around his torso, eventually migrating down to the waistband of his jeans.
"can i see more of you, my love?"
dejun was sure this is what heaven would be like. the way you were so gentle with him, taking care of him and making him feel so special. always making sure he was on board with you before initiating anything. the way you could make even the most simple names seem like a gift. he had to try not to get swept away in his feelings. he gave you a sure nod.
with that you looped an arm under him and shifted him higher onto the bed with you.
"up." you hooked your fingers under his waistband and he obediently lifted his hips to let you tug his pants down to his knees.
seeing him exposed to you like this, skin so soft and light with a pink tint, made heat swirl in your stomach.
"my baby boy is so pretty."
you crawled over him and leaned down to kiss his chest right over his heart. a soft sigh came from above you.
leaving a trail of open mouthed kisses on the way, you move from his pink nipple down his stomach over his belly button.
"do you know how much i love your tummy?"
dejun wasn't sure if he should answer so he lifted his head to meet your eyes.
"it's one of my favorite parts of you. i love how smooth and soft it is. i love how sensitive you are and how much you react when i scratch at you here." you punctuated your sentence with a light scratch to his hip bone, making him squirm under you as if on cue.

I never really rant on this website ever but everglow’s comeback in IMPECCABLE! it is so fking refreshing, everything from the styling(which is easily one of the BEST styling I have ever seen in Kpop), the song, the amazing choreo, the marvel-movie-looking mv (seriously that music video was SO AMAZING I’m obsessed)... Everything feels so bold and refreshing, the girls are out there giving it their 300% and it’s been a really long time since I’ve last seen anything like that.
AND YET!! I’ve seen someone kinda dismiss it as “just another girl crush concept“ and it made me so mad? Like it really feels absurd to me how people still to this day, in 2021, put girls in little boxes. If you’re a female in the industry you’re either “cute”, ”sexy” or “girl crush” and that’s all you get to be. It makes me so upset that the women in Kpop who give it their all, delivering a thousand different concepts and a thousand different versions of themselves while constantly innovating, have to work 10 times harder to be seen and appreciated, only to be stuffed into boxes and labels that are so limiting...
like, everglow didn’t deliver one of the best and most innovative comebacks of the year for y’all to be dismissive like that... if it’s not what you’re into that’s fine but don’t put into a box just because you personally didn’t like it and it wasn’t your cup of tea

Song of the Week
Lots of idol stuff this week, so let’s get into.
Honorable Mentions:
The song that makes me the most confused this week goes to Love Me Once Again. It is 90s boy group ballad coming out in the year 2021 of our lord, fully in English on a Korean music YouTube channel. Starring Yun Min Soo, and BOYS II MEN?!?!?!! I’m thoroughly confused, and also it is a 90s power ballad, which sounds so like the 90s that it makes me think it is just a song I missed, and not a new track.
Rain Song has the traditional Epik High beat, and a dreamy feel like some of their more somber work previously. I like the chorus with Colde, but not the verse quite as much, no matter how much I love Tablo. I’m impressed how consistent Epik High has been for years (over a decade?), but I do sometimes get tired of so many songs with such a similar feel. Also, I can’t take Tukutz playing piano seriously. I’ve seen too many interviews where he has maybe half a braincell, so seeing him be serious is hard.
DPR Live may not always be my style, but damn if DPR on the whole doesn’t have some of the best MVs in Korea by a long shot. Every single one has a distinctive style that is kept throughout. Yellow Cab is psychedelic filters over bright colors in just slightly strange sets. And when the color is pulled, it is for a reason. If you haven’t seen a DPR video before, this is a decent place to start, and while not my style, the track is good as well.
Idk if Break Ice is an idol track or not, because technically Second Wife Kim DaBi is the lead on it, but ITZY features heavily. I think the start of the chorus is interesting, and the rest didn’t keep my attention.
Idol Roundup:
- Chase by Dongkiz: This is a little too cute for me, but the bass-y synth chorus is pretty cool
- Hello Future by NCT Dream: I really like the chorus, but the rest feels like filler to get between the choruses, and the video confuses me.
- Xtra by AleXa: She still isn’t my thing I think. BM is just there though, which is a nice bonus
- 13IVI by BM: I want to like this more than I do. Look at him go tho.
- Free Pass by DRIPPIN: Very cute, and not a whole lot else
- Veronica by ONEWE: Another sweet summer track, only this time with band vibes
- Vamos by OMEGA X: Feels kind of ATEEZ-ish, but not quite as pushed conceptually.
- Moonlight by BDC: Very vibey if that is a style you like. I don’t mind the chorus, which is a bit lusher, but the rest is not for me
- Tesseract by CIX: IDK why there is a video for the 1:28 of this track (nevermind, its on another site that I’m not going to search for)
- Pool Party by Brave Girls: Their voices are incredibly over processed in this. I know everyone in kpop is autotuned, but usually I can ignore it
So, I may be a little bit biased for this whole track, because it is produced by Bang Yongguk, who I love very much, but Damage is surprisingly decent? Just B is definitely a debut group, and you can tell in the video. The track though has some really nice moments. The start of the hook is really cool, and the delayed drop in the chorus adds a cool half beat of expectations. I also really like the silence or near silence spliced in throughout the track. It is a more interesting debut than a lot I have seen this year.
I hope the chorus of PTT grows on me, because the rest of LOONA’s newest track has me hooked. I love the percussion heavy instrumentation, and letting their voices hold nearly all of the melody, I know that the super hard hitting chorus is the new thing (tracks like Next Level come to mind), but I have yet to really like one. They definitely get stuck in your head, but I’ve never had one last longer than that. Everything else though it pretty damn great, and I’ll give the chorus a pass for all of the rest.
I love seeing really experienced groups pull off tracks that younger groups could never touch, because the feel is just way way too mature. You aren’t going to catch a freshly debuted group with a song like Make (or Make It? I’m not sure what the English title actually is). You need experience to be casually sexy and have it not come off as insincere, which 2PM has in spades. I like the jazzy brass mixed in. I like the chorus and hook. I like Taecyeon getting to sing a deep part. My biggest problem is that a group with 3 guys who have acted quite a bit can’t seem to act their way out of a paper bag the whole video. They stare at the female lead with negative energy or interest, and she does the same back. I guess props to her professionalism for standing so close to so much 2PM and surviving, but damn. If you want a way better video for it, watch the relay dance from M2, it is way more fun.

WayV - This group is the most difficult for me to always pinpoint bias and bias wrecker. It honestly depends on the comeback and concept. Currently and longest running bias is YangYang. Baby Sheep has me feeling some sort of way. Current bias wrecker is WinWin. He is just so freaking cute and sometimes you just have to agree with everyone and love him. Plus his ear is really fucking cute.
Dream: This group man...they are my babies! My bias is Renjun, this man is so cute, his vocal are fire, he is so damn sassy. Ugh I love him. Bias wrecker currently is Mork Lee. He has been looking too damn good lately.
S:
127: Doyoung and Jaehyun. Wrecker has been Haechan and Johnny. Makes me big mad. HOWEVER, Shotaro/Sungchan hold special places in my heart, okay?
WayV: Kun. It’s that easy. And then Xiaojun is the ultimate wrecker. He’s so damn funny.

M: Alright so this is kinda of a long story in my head but to make that sort of short. We ult EXO that is the first group we got into heavily and we sort of kept to just them for a while. We decided to branch out and I remember S in particular saying NCT NEVER after we saw how many members there were. We thought we'd never learn their names. Well now I could probably tell you which member from 6 miles away by their eye lashes. It's scary.
S: Oh, yeah. So, maybe I have these backwards. BUT, I did become a fan soon after. I couldn’t help it. They’re just... them. Idiots. All of them. So, naturally, I love them.

S: Title track? There are so many... um... “Turn Back Time” is a favorite. It’s so hard to choose though. Least favorite? “Chewing Gum”, and I’ll fight someone on this. Also, “Superhuman” isn’t my favorite.

ooooooohhhhh recs okay!!! prepare for an absolute essay honestly!
for boy groups (not including the obvious skz) my faves at the moment are:
Astro (they’ve got such a wide range of sounds from their light bubbly early stuff to their more recent more mature stuff! They all have incredible voices and the word I would use to describe them is fun! Blue Flame is a personal fave!)
ONEUS (they literally haven’t got any bad or even just okay songs! Every song they’ve released title or otherwise is an absolute banger and I could listen to them on repeat for hours! BingBing is my fave song of theirs please give it a listen!)
Monsta X (Amazing voices! killer choreo! Kihyun is there! its the whole package really! again they have an amazing range but tend to lean to the more sexy and mature styles! Jealousy is my fave song! they’re just being mean to each other and I thrive!)
NCT/WayV (I mean they’re NCT, if we’re gonna talk about range we’re gonna talk about the 23 glorious boys of NCT. WayV is personally my favourite unit but they’re all incredible! If you havent listened to them before I would recommend listening to their 2018 empathy album! After Midnight by WayV is a bop and my fave!)

Mamamoo (one word... harmonies... they have in my personal opinion the best vocals out of any group in kpop, they have an amazing range of songs and again! The! Harmonies! Bow down to the vocal Queens! Starry Night is my fave song of theirs and the MV was filmed in my home country of New Zealand which is neat!!)
Red Velvet!! ( talk about variety! They have such a wiiiide range of different sounds and most of them are incredible! honestly its almost a guarantee that they’ll have released something you like! Bad Boy is my personal fave!)
TWICE (The girls! They’re here! They’re amazing! Twice are fantastic! They have such happy bubbly music that just always makes me smile! But they also have more serious/mature stuff recently like Fancy and I Can’t Stop Me. Its impossible to be into SKZ and not heard anything by twice! Like A Fool is one of my faves! from their first EP!)

Day6 (you thought they wernt gonna be on here??? Wrong!! Day6 are incredible!! They have amazing voices! They’re incredible musicians and every song they release is an fucking bop and a half! I Need Somebody is my favourite and its such an important song for me personally as well!)
The Rose (THE ROSE THE ROSE THE ROSE!! Woosung has probably my favourite voice in all of kpop and if you haven’t listened to their cover of ILYSB you’re doing yourself a disservice! Insomnia is my favourite song by them!
SUNMI (THE QUEEN SHE’S HERE!!!! Sunmi is incredible! she used to be in wonder girls and is now an amazing amazing solo artist! Gashina was a hit everyone and their grandparents knew when it came out! My personal fave however is LALALAY also if your gay like me do yourself a favour and watch this)

SISTAR: How the Kpop Queens of Summer Stay ‘So Cool’ 4 Years After Disbandment
Summer 2021 marks another summer without a SISTAR comeback. As every SISTAR fan, (and hopefully every KPOP fan knows) SISTAR disbanded in May 2017, after releasing their final EP Lonely. I only really got into KPOP in 2018, so I discovered SISTAR much later, but when I heard their 2013 summer hit, Give It To Me, I knew I was going to be dragged into the rabbit hole that is SISTAR’s discography. I loved everything about that era… as a fashion enthusiast and someone with a background in dance, I always look at the WHOLE era, as well as the song, of course, when I’m making my assessment of a KPOP era. That’s what I did first with SISTAR’s Give It To Me.
GITM gives the audience a Moulin Rouge vibe, which I thought was so unique when I first watched the MV and stage performances. That’s one of the things I always loved about the original “summer queens” themselves, SISTAR- their summer concepts were always fresh, original, and unique. It’s easy to think that there’s only so many summer concepts/ideas a group can pull off or when people think of summer concepts, they only think of songs with beachy vibes. But SISTAR pulled off a number of (always classy) sexy, summer concepts- whether it was the flirty, retro theme that Shake It bought upon us in Summer 2015 or the mature, sophisticated theme that was presented by I Like That in Summer 2016. (One of my favorite SISTAR eras overall!)
Shake It reminds me of the “comic book aesthetic” with the bright, flashy colors and the bold-lettered art themes. There’s a minor storyline in the MV, which adds to the songs charm and definitely “feels” like a retro summer, although I couldn’t get over the fact that this song doesn’t really have a bridge or substantial verses. I think this song is simply meant to be fun and not a song where you think too deeply about the lyrics, so in that way, this song excels, because it’s incredibly catchy and whenever it comes on my playlist, its upbeat rhythms always give me a boost of happy.
Like GITM, I Like That is one of my absolute favorite SISTAR eras. The song, choreography (which seemed more complex compared to their previous era dance routines), outfits, and concept in general were unique and unlike anything they had done previously. I also really liked the lyrics in this song, because even though it’s about finding out about a cheating boyfriend, instead of just blaming the douch-y boyfriend, SISTAR blames themselves for thinking that they can “change him,” (A concept that every woman, including myself, has thought in regards to a man… moral of the story: don’t fall in love with potential! But I digress…) which is actually a self-aware twist to something that’s (unfortunately) so common in relationships.
One of the things about I Like That that I liked (😊) is how they made use of props in the most effective and efficient ways in both the MV and the stage performances. There’s something to be said about props being used properly- in my opinion, if you choose to have props in your stage performances, it kind of makes or breaks the performance, because if those props are just a waste of space, it will show. Luckily for SISTAR, they not only used props to enhance the performance, but they made sure to have control over the setting and not the other way around. I especially liked how they used their long flowing skirts as curtains, making it part of their routine, and the stage props (as well as the MV props) didn’t feel too close together or “tight,” adding to the song’s glamour.
Despite all of the good things I Like That had to offer, my only complaint is that member Bora didn’t get enough of a rap verse. With most K-pop songs, l normally don’t think the rap goes with the song, but in I Like That, I thought Bora’s verse actually went with the song, so I wish she had gotten another rap verse in place of the somewhat awkward bridge (“I’m so fine, I’m so fine…”) that seems out of place compared to the melody and rhythms of the song.
If we’re talking about “conventional summer themes,” I would say Touch My Body and Loving U would be the most “summer-y” when it comes to the traditional K-Pop summer concept, but even when they went the conventional summer route, SISTAR stayed true to their unique group flair. Even though the navy crop top and floral print shorts from the Touch My Body era is an ensemble that you could probably buy at Target, it’s still an iconic outfit and one of the stage outfits I think of when I think of SISTAR. 2012 summer splash Loving U is certainly a bop and the outfits from that era seem like laid-back and casual summer outfits that you would wear to the beach or to an amusement park. In terms of the song, it’s a good song if you’re looking for a light pop song, but it’s not on my top 5 list of favorite SISTAR songs.
By this point, I knew I was a fan, and as I was discovering more of SISTAR’s songs, I came across their debut song from 2010 called Push Push. It’s a catchy enough, electro-pop song, which is decent, but if that was the first SISTAR song I listened to and not Give It To Me, it may have taken me longer to get into SISTAR’s music. There wasn’t a discernible “concept” surrounding Push Push, so it’s hard to really place it on the same level as some of their other summer jams. I will say that one of their live performances of this song was at an amusement park (which you can easily find on YouTube), and that was a cool aesthetic and it must have been a fun experience for the girls.
A song that’s less popular, but still one of my favorite SISTAR songs is 2010’s Shady Girl. It received moderate success when it was released in August 2010, and SISTAR were still a “rookie group” at this time. (It had only been 2 months since they debuted in the industry at this point!) I thought the flight attendant theme was a little cliché, but the outfits were still on point. Most SISTAR choreography is fairly easy, and Shady Girl is no exception. This era is still one of my favorites, despite the fact that they went the conventional route and it wasn’t really the “sexy summer” theme that SISTAR are known for; however, I think because this group was still trying to find their footing in the Korean entertainment industry as rookies, this concept tended to be “safer” than some of their other concepts.
And of course, the song that put SISTAR on the map and defined their superstar status was none other than 2011’s So Cool. So Cool is a dance-pop tune that stayed in the Top 10 for 5 consecutive weeks and was the first number one single by this group. If you watch the music video and the stage performances, you’ll notice that the choreography in the music video is different from the stage performances, because of a dance move in the MV that was deemed inappropriate in South Korea’s conservative society; hence the slight choreography change for the stage performances. I like the general idea behind the lyrics of the song- that idea being the way to get revenge on a horrible ex-boyfriend is to look amazing (which they do! I love ALL of their stage outfits during this era…) and to remind yourself that you’re “too cool” to waste your time being sad over him. So, in a way, I like the sexy, empowering theme behind this song; however, while the song is catchy, it is easy to get tired of after a few listens.
Spring 2012 brought Alone upon us. Although this comeback was not during the summer (obviously), it was different than what SISTAR had previously done up until this point, and when I discovered this song, I was here for it. The black and red combo for the concept pictures really suited the vibe that the song gave. Alone is a ballad that talks about heartbreak and the feelings of loneliness that you experience afterwards, which is not only real, but it is also a universal feeling that anyone can understand and relate to. While I liked the outfits during this era, I thought they were purposely made “plainer” to emphasize the jewelry, which is a fashion statement in and of itself.
One of the things about SISTAR that I find so admirable is that they were able to hold their own against artists from the “Big 3 Companies.” Any K-Pop fan knows that if a group hails from SM, JYP, or YG, that group is almost guaranteed to be successful in the K-Pop industry, because of the resources, connections, budget, and experience that the CEOs of these Big 3 Companies have managing (successful) artists in the industry. It is a well-known fact that SISTAR is not from one of the Big 3 Companies- they were managed by a smaller company called Starship Entertainment. Even despite the fact that their success wasn’t guaranteed when they first started, they were still able to “sell the concepts” for every one of the songs that Starship churned out when comeback season came.
A girl group from a smaller company was able to, not only compete with girl groups from Big 3 Companies, they were also able to become the most streamed girl group EVER with over 1 billion streams in their 7-year career together! And not only that, they have THE MOST consecutive #1 singles by a K-Pop girl group EVER with 9 singles under their belt. Not bad for a girl group that came from a smaller entertainment company. I think it is human nature to root for the underdog, so it really speak volumes about how hard SISTAR had to have worked to compete with girl groups from the Big 3 Companies, which makes me even prouder for them when they achieved their success together.
Most K-pop fans know that summer isn’t the same without SISTAR, but going back and listening to their comebacks certainly feels like summer...

[INTERVIEW] “REVOLUTION” Singer AleXa Talks About Her New EP “Decoherence”, Podcast, Online Concert And More
KHIGH: Can you please tell us briefly about the making of the “Decoherence” album?
AleXa: We started recording it during the summer, starting with “Villain”. We were recording and fixing songs up until the first week of September, actually. I was in and out of the studio multiple times a week for MONTHS. Thankfully, I was able to contribute to the creative process of the album in writing some of the lyrics to the tracks~ It was a very stressful time, but at the end of the day, music helps me get through my struggles; in creating this album, it was a healing process for myself. Very grateful for the wonderful and skilled teams that we worked with while creating the album.
KHIGH: For this music video, you filmed all of your own stunts and we heard that you were also injured in the process. Fans recently saw on your Instagram that you had gone to a Korean Action School too. So, as a fan of action and stunts can you tell us what that entire experience was like? How did you think of implementing action in your MVs?
AleXa: It was SO FUN!!!! I’ve always wanted to try stunt work, specifically combat. Albeit, the fight choreo changed completely the day of the shoot, but thanks to the awesome team of stuntmen we worked with, the shoot went flawless and without injury! Or, at least the *fight* choreography did, haha… the explosions? That’s another story. It was super exciting, and honestly not scary in the slightest. The scariest part of that portion of the filming was getting hit- BUT, getting hit sent my adrenaline RUSHING and my brain was like “THERE IS A LION CHASING YOU RUN FASTER!!!!” Very fun process. Absolutely no regrets and would 100% do it again.
KHIGH: Your song “Moon And Back” has a very different vibe from the rest of your music, what was your inspiration for that track?
AleXa: The team figured it was time that we gave a ballad song a try, and I could not be more grateful for the song that I received. As a child, my parents frequently read me the book Guess How Much I Love You- in the book, there’s a quote, “I love you right up to the moon and back”, which my mother would tell me all the time as our goodnight. I tell it to my fans on Twitter at the end of ‘menpas’ (mention parties/interactive session with fans), most of the time. That was the inspiration for the title.
KHIGH: Since your entire concept quite stands out in the K-Pop industry, what do you think are the advantages of having a unique concept, and what different concepts would you like to try in the future?
AleXa: Rather than having just a unique concept, I am so blessed to have such a unique and special company. There are several perks of being a part of the ZB Label/ZanyBros family, as their artist. Our company is a creative powerhouse full of hardworking visionaries who strive to make their ideas a reality. We would love to try MANY concepts in the future, but personally, I would like to try a chic and mature sexy concept, like Gain’s “Paradise Lost”, or Sunmi’s “24 Hours” or “Full Moon”.
KHIGH: The covers of your albums have a huge artistic aspect in terms of animation and design. Have you ever taken part in designing these images like what you would wear or what your hair would be like?
AleXa: The album art is a TREMENDOUS thank you to Malcolm, aka RocketBoi Art, who lives in South Africa! He’s a joy to work with, and all of us fell in love with his art style! I anticipate seeing the cover art every comeback~ As for character design and whatnot, it all comes from Malcolm’s incredible mind. Our team provides the hair color and outfit inspiration, and he runs with it.
KHIGH: Back in July, you had your very first online concert which was a huge success having a count of 7,000 viewers. Can you share what it was like performing for your fans through a screen?
AleXa: As much as I do miss performing in front of a live audience, I was immensely happy to have been given the opportunity to perform for my fans online. It was truly an amazing experience that will always stay with me throughout the course of my career. I was so nervous if I would even break 100 people, so imagine my surprise when our wonderful CEO broke the news to me that we had near 7K fans in attendance. It really blew my mind, and I am so grateful to everyone who attended.
KHIGH: If people are hearing about AleXa for the very first time, what song of yours would you recommend as a first listen?
AleXa: I would recommend ‘Bomb’!!! It’s my debut song and it definitely gives you the signature AleXa sound right off the bat.
KHIGH: Recently you became a co-host for one of the Dive Studios’ podcasts, what has the experience of working on a podcast been like?
AleXa: It’s a lot more fun than I expected. Dive is such a chill place to be and the team makes the recording sessions fun~ Stan Day6 lol
KHIGH: You have completed a year as an Idol, what things stood out the most for you after debuting?
AleXa: Now that it’s been a year after debut, some of the key moments for me have been my first live stage at Music Bank for debut, performing in Singapore two weeks after debut, and attending the Soribada Awards, where I won my first award.
KHIGH: Please share a message for A.I Troopers!
AleXa: Hello you lovely, lovely humans. Thank you for all the love and support, from all over the world. Sometimes you wonder why you want to go on and if you really need a college certificate for your dream job.
For fifteen minutes, you've been looking at the eleventh page of your twenty-page assignment that your most hated professor gave your seminar class.
Deadline? Next week. It's not like there's the written exam phase right now and you also have a side job to cover your expenses.
Sure, your boyfriend Jimin would pay all your living expenses without batting an eyelash, but you vehemently objected and wanted to pay your part of the cost yourself since moving into your shared apartment. You are a autonomous and independent woman, of course you can accept when Jimin wants to pay for your dinner here and there but you can definitely stand on your own two feet.
That's why you also rejected his suggestion that you could take at least a leave of absence for these two weeks in your part-time job, so you have time to study and write your chores. But in the end, your guilty feelings of living on somebodys money and your pride keep you from doing so. And now?
Now you're sitting in front of your laptop, with tired and swollen eyes and an oppressive sense of panic in your stomach. You're surrounded by any kind of useful literature for this scientific short-term work, dirty plates and empty coffee and espresso cups sitting there in the table too. You've only taken the food and drinks that your boyfriend brought to you this whole Sunday. Concerned that you may have been thrown off your writing flow, you have refrained from cooking for yourself or at least making a sandwich. Too much precious Time you'd be wasting for that. Your goal is to finish this damn task today because you just don't have time to finish them in the following days. Tuesday and Wednesday are two important exams and you need to study for them, plus you'll have to go to the bar every night for your shift. For a million times today, you're counting on how fast you have to write the last nine pages tonight, so you still be done somehow tonight.
Meanwhile, Jimin has slipped away into your bedroom and binge-watch a few shows on Netflix. He doesn't want to disturb you, he knows how important your studies are for you and to be able to realize your dream job afterwards. Only on tiptoe he scurries through the apartment, trying to be as quiet as possible.
He takes care that you take food regularly and drink enough. You are ambitious and keep your promises, no question. Yet he misses you, even if you are only a few feet apart.
The last weeks have been exhausting and stressful for both of you, you're in your exam phase and he spends most of the week either shooting the new MV, doing practice or recording new songs in the Music Studio. Actually, you have hardly been aware of each other for the last three weeks, you two just lay down to sleep for a few hours at night, wrapping your arms and legs around each other half asleep.
You haven't really done much together lately, your last date was two months ago, because before all of this happens, there was one month where he has to film abroad for special scenes. And to be honest, the last time you had sex was three weeks ago.
You both had neither time nor strength for even intimate things. But the more your thoughts stray from your real job, namely, continuing to write this scientific essay, you'll realize how urgently you actually needed to be close to Jimin.
He would just hug you right now, without asking why and for which reason. Without reminding you that you actually wanted to continue writing your task. He would hold you close to him, put countless kisses on your forehead and cheeks, caress your back. He would just be there for you.
Without you wanting to, your fantasies continue, remembering the last time you gave yourself to Jimin in a sensual and loving way.
