formerly an essay in tags but - billie lurk. half-nameless, misremembered woman. her powers derived from the things taken from her, without any catharsis or empowerment. the rat charm, tied with deidre's hair, her lover's voice in the mouth of rats. her arm and eye, taken, given back only to cause her chronic pain, then lost again. foresight seems a cruel gift for a woman who botched the timing of her takeover of the whalers, and bet wrong when it came to delilah.

she never bore the outsider's blessing; his first visit to her was more like an assault. every other dishonored POV character gets the choice to be selfish, and for that selfishness to mean something, but billie's actions have no effect on the world at large, either, in a game without a chaos system.

some say that corvo is the ghost, but he can reach out and change things. billie's buried herself twice and come back and nothing she does seems to matter - she is less a protagonist, more a convenient full stop in the narrative.

try this: open doto, start a new game. sit in her cabin. notice how little of billie there is. even the woman she loved more than anyone has the face of another named character.

she sits amongst the assets of other games: empty canvases and a dressmaker's mannequin that wears nothing.

I feel like we didn’t truly see much depth in their relationship? #maybe wish there was more than one female character and also her being a succubus means she is kinda regularly raping people. #the examples we see are mostly shitty men and like obviously all the other gods are murdering people too but also.... #That is a thing in here. It maybe could have been discussed a little more idk. #Having said that I did still enjoy a lot of aspects of it!

Hm ok what's your favorite or a really cool worlbuilding thing you've done? For any fandom or original or even an unimplemented idea

Hmm well at least in the past decade, my big worldbuilding projects have mostly come down to three-ish stories: Other Side of the Gun, Adventures of Gæilo and Ethon, and Just Desserts

OSG was an Invader ZiM fancomic concept I started around 2013 to justify every single Irken headcanon I ever came up with lol - I never finished it, or even really started it, but I put a lot of time and energy into its roughs back in the day :)

One that you can see over here is all the work I did for my DnD campaign, AGE! (Though its sideblog hasn't been updated in a while haha - the AGE tag over here works just as well) I basically homebrewed a pantheon and had an absolute blast designing all the gods and their forms before they became gods and even things like architectural differences in their churches and the BBEG and his motivations and just ah <3 Such a fun project :D

It also laid the groundwork for things like Pokemon Homestyle, specifically all my papercrafts! You can really see how I leveled up haha

And my latest has been Just Desserts! Even with less time under its belt, it's still pretty expansive, as evidenced by my icon and theme and the backlog lol, and it's the one I have the most AUs of! (Though OSG does come close actually haha) There are still some thorny details I'm trying to iron out, especially to do with the magic system, but all the characters and creatures and the fact that I made my own fighting minigame, ah, pleased! I've never been so happy with a sona before Charm! ♥ From the very beginning it's been so fun to work on and I still want to improve!

i feel like. theres designing a character with certain themes and motifs in mind, and then theres making a gijinka for the water bottle on my nightstand

Indigo "Skylights" Asterix Pollux Kosjisk Ankabut Fatespinner is my pirate!! Quite awhile back one of my friends mentioned the idea of an all-gnome pirate crew whose ship’s name is comprised of the names of all the ships they’ve successfully raided and/or destroyed, and long story short it ended up being a one-shot and hopefully an ongoing series of one-shots :D

Indigo is the ship’s navigator and lookout; they’re a circle of stars druid, and their star map is a gold false eye etched with constellations, with a Gem of Brightness core that can project the stars outward-- which is, not to brag, the coolest idea I’ve ever had about anything (it’s an admittedly low bar; I’m not a very creative Ideas Guy lmao)

also their Archer starry form gives them a flintlock that shoots comets, and their Primal Savagery cantrip is flavored as a cutlass that’s formed from an extension of their starlight :D

The Ultimate Spider-Man comics never cease to make me loose my shit in either a positive way or a negative way and there's no in between. It's like. Brian Micheal Bendis is always writing something. Just something. And I either LOVEEE it or I really fucking hate it with a passion and I cannot understand this man just by his writing because it's so fucking confusing. Like oh! Gwen rejecting an older guy hitting on her and negatively showing dudes who get pissed when girls reject them, good message! Then later. Gwen kisses Ganke. Even though she's like 17-18 and he's 14. Now I don't want to get into arguments with this post but that's just like weird because it's about the same age gap Gwen and Eddie had when he flirted with her and it's blatantly a double standard and perfectly represents all the weird mixed feelings I have about Brian Micheal Bendis' writing for Spider-Man. Sometimes it's GOOD. REALLY GOOD. And then sometimes it's blatantly awful! I think there's more good then bad here, although I think most of the bad is romance related in these stories because like. What the hell was Gwen x Peter and Peter x Kitty. Gwen and Peter in the Ultimate universe is weird to me because it's established they view each other as family in one issue and then they do a time skip and suddenly they're dating. Which is just. Weird. Not illegal or anything it's just a weird writing choice? Like it's just a bad idea to break up your main couple off screen and then pedal back on your writing before and suddenly have your main character date the girl that was established as not being a romantic love interest for him? It's just weird.

Peter and Kitty on the other hand isn't bad, it's just bad writing. Brian Micheal Bendis' pet character is Kitty Pryde, and she's cool and all and he can do whatever he wants it's his comics. It's just she's forced into the narrative and her being there and dating Peter actively makes Peter look like an awful person who cheated on his girlfriend, which is NEVER ADDRESSED. To clarify I don't have a problem with "problematic" characters or relationships, it just bugs me when the narrative ignores the negative aspects of something.

This is turning very rambly but what I mean is- Peter cheating on Kitty is fine as long as people actively call Peter out on his bullshit and tell him that was fucked up, but they don't. He doesn't get consequences for this shit. Or with Gwen, they can do that, but it should be acknowledged and they should explain how Gwen and Peter's feelings changed over the 6 months instead of getting them together, and then back pedaling on that choice too and saying that Gwen forced him into it or whatever. And when this stuff is addressed, it's usually a one off line with no actually lasting meaning or consequence. It just makes the characters feel horribly out of character and makes me hate them. Gwen kissing Ganke makes me grossed out because it makes her look like a hypocrite and a creep. She literally was in Ganke's position before and she rejected it rightfully because that's weird. But now she's in Eddie's position in a way and it makes her an actively worse character, so I just choose to ignore it in my brain because! I like Gwen!

Tdlr; Ultimate Spider-Man is good and if you want to get into the comics it's a good way to start just acknowledge that you may have a lot of beef with the writing choices, especially the romance related ones.

star trek tng s5e5 disaster would be such a beautiful name for a babygirl btw

#HUGE fan of putting those guys in situations and this ep has truly delivered on that front #everyones so beautifully out of their depth. picard cant do anything cause hes stuck in a turbolift with 3 random kids #worf delivers keiko's baby (featuring the lifechanging line 'u may now give birth'). data is decapitated. #beverly and geordi start a plasma fire in the cargo bay and almost get vacuumed out of the ship while putting it out. #the only people with access to the bridge are deanna chief obrien ensign ro (who had just joined the enterprise crew like 2 eps before) #and another ensign who gets like 1.5 lines in total for some reason. deanna is technically in charge #but somehow has no idea how the ship works despite being a senior officer. idk that felt so weird tbh she must have had required training #plus shes surrounded by this stuff all the time and shes really quite smart like i cant believe she wouldnt have at least some idea #of whats going on. like ro literally knows way more than her so at least it doesnt stand out so much as an 'haha woman dumb' thing #however i do admit that the part where they had to spell out to her that the ship is gonna explode if they dont do anything did deliver #in terms of comedic effect #these tags r way too long and im sure no ones reading em anymore anyways but yeah. tng s5e5 what an episode ! loved it so much <33 #thots

sweating and shaking over whether or not to up my rating of the revenge of frankenstein to 5/5.
