She-Ra fics I consider canon

Hey gang! here's a list of (mostly post-canon) fics I've read over the years that are I feel are well written and in character enough that they could be canon to the show, and to an extent, each other! I put the list in order for anyone who wants to read it like a season 6 :D

Don't Go - extended version of scenes in S5E5 and S5E6. Written by ND Stevenson so is basically already canon. Angst and fluff

Daylight - picks up a day after the s5 finale. Catra & Adora begin to really understand that they're free to live a peaceful life. Tooth rotting fluff.

Pros & Cons (NSFW) - Bow and Glimmer seem joined to Adora at the hip 24/7, and Catra just wants to make out with her girlfriend. Has a couple lines that could be seen as contradictory or foreshadowing to Carry our Bodies. Mostly 3/4ths fluff, 1/4th smut.

Carry our Bodies Safe to Shore - Adora finds an old Horde incident report, and Catra has to tell Adora about the kiss that Shadow Weaver erased from her memory. Angst and fluff.

Keep on Walking, Come What Will - Adora & Catra accidentally get engaged. Pure fluff

Alternatively, Princess Prom 2.0 (One Year Later) - Adora & Catra get engaged on purpose. Pure fluff

^ honestly, I reconcile these two by head canon-ing that the "accidental engagement," happens at the impromptu princess prom and then they get too busy for a wedding and then the on purpose engagement happens at the real princess prom, because both are so well written and so in character.

Anachronism (and sequel) - Adora & Catra get traumatized again while rescuing Angella.

^ (Fic is pretty good, mostly on here because I haven't found any fit that does "rescuing Angella" better, lmk if you have any recs!). Angst and Fluff. I don't think there's any NSFW but it's a long fic and it's been a while since I read it.

If anyone has any other recommendations for this list please leave them in the replies! I would love to expand this list until I have a sixth season worth of content!! (also only one NSFW fic rn cause I mostly read fluff lol but if anyone has NSFW recs that feel canon send those as well!)

Addition 1: honorable mention for Breathing Room by ResFlower because it is almost IDENTICAL to a scene from one of the others where Catra has to break it to Adora that their fight in the Red Waste was actually Double Trouble.

I have a headcanon about Etheria having the need for an official Space Fleet post war and Adora, Catra and Bow all end up as officers while it's getting off the ground.

And Glimmer meanwhile is already busy enough with Queen duties so she doesn't hold an official office in the Etherian Space Fleet, but she does use her position to shower her friends with random medals and commendations from Bright Moon whenever possible because she can.

Heeeeey. I am not remotely active on this website, but I wrote a thing. And I think it’s a good thing. So I’m gonna advertise it here.

I have spent the past 6 months working on a MASSIVE She-Ra longfic, and I am thrilled to announce that I will be releasing it alll at once on AO3 in 1 month! Adora is going places. That’s what everyone’s always told her - from her estranged guardian Sharon Weaver to her academic advisor, Dr. Hope - and she has never had any intention of letting them down. But when her lifelong battle with anxiety tips from “manageable” to completely out of control, Adora winds up in the last place she ever expected; a mental health treatment center, smack dab in the middle of nowhere. And she’s far from the only “client” here in desperate need of assistance.

Adora wants nothing more than to get back to her old life and pretend this never happened. She throws herself eagerly into “getting better” in the hopes they’ll let her leave. But she wasn’t counting on a few key factors - like her drop-dead gorgeous and totally annoying roommate, or the crippling panic attacks that continue to threaten her recovery. Soon, she is faced with a choice. Will she return to school, and her old life, as soon as possible? Or will the staff and clients at Whispering Woods Recovery lead her down a different path entirely?

(Primary Catradora slowburn fic with various other canon ships included. Minor enemies-to-lovers element. The problematic nature of the fic’s central conceit will be addressed lol)

She spots him in the crowd early on. She wants to say he looks like an easy mark, but really it's his kind smile. "That one." Glimmer mutters to Catra as she cuts her eyes to the man she'd been thinking of. Catra eyes him and shrugs.

"Gentleman! Would you like to know your future? See the mysteries that life might have in store for you?" Catra's phony accent is almost painful but it works every time.

His dark eyes widen as he looks at Catra then past her to where Glimmer is with a crystal ball in her hand. "I don't see why not." He says with that same flash of white teeth that caught Glimmer's attention before.

"Sit in front of Madame Sparkles! She can see everything there is to know about you!" Catra boasts as she ushers Bow closer.

He sits down, pulling the cloak he had on off his face. "Well. What is my future like, Madame?" His voice isn't overly deep but Glimmer finds she likes that.

She makes quick work of jabbering whatever nonsense she thinks he'll buy. She also watches as Catra quickly grabs his purse strings, pulling away a few coins he isn't likely to miss. In a few days they'll be gone to another town before anyone can suspect them.

He walks away unsuspectingly, and Glimmer feels a pang of guilt. She usually doesn't--they only take from folks they figure are well off--but something about that young man stuck with her.

Idk if anyone remembers the Bow Horde Spy AU I wrote for Glimbow Week last year, but if you did and you liked it, I have good news! I'm expanding it!

(And if you have no idea what the fuck I'm on about, you should still read this story anyways)

Summary Bow grew up in the Horde with Catra and Adora. When he's 18, Shadow Weaver sends him to infiltrate the Rebellion, befriend Princess Glimmer and get as much information out of her as he can. It should be simple, but when Bow actually meets the Princess, she's nothing like he expects and it has him questioning everything. A series of scenes that feature both Glimbow and Catradora.

“Princess Glimmer, daughter of Queen Angella” Shadow Weaver clarifies, handing Bow a file “She is the key to the plan, she’s the way you’ll get into the rebellion. You just need to get her to trust you, open up to you. I’ve heard you refer to the Horde as your family-” “The Horde is my family” “Right, well, think of it as helping your family” she tells him “I took you in because I knew you would be good for something one day, this is it.” Bow’s eyes shut tight. He has to do this. He owes it to Shadow Weaver “Okay, I’ll do it"

When Glimmer was a young child, Angela and frankly all of the adults in her life would poke and prod at her about her friendship with Bow, making outrageous claims about how he would be her king one day.

She always dismissed them. Bow was her best friend! The idea of being romantically involved, even so far as married to him was just crazy.

Bow would also dismiss the similar prodding from his dads. "I'm a simple academic" he'd tell them. "Even if I did like her like that, which I don't, she wouldn't want to be with me for status reasons"

Eventually, both their families would drop the matter, which they both appreciated, but that meant that they had to face their feelings for each other on their own for the first time ever. It was something that had always been overshadowed by the annoyance over their families' insistence that there was something more.

"He's my friend" Glimmer would tell herself late at night when less than friendly thoughts of the boy would cross her mind. She just dismissed it as Angela's persistence getting into her head.

But Bow... Bow knew better. Deep down, he always knew that he cared about her in ways that weren't typical to friendship. This was only amplified when Adora came along, because Adora was another one of his best friends and the way he felt about Glimmer was decidedly different from the way he felt about the blonde.

Still, he valued their friendship above all else and didn't want to make Glimmer uncomfortable. He'd drop subtle hints, sure, but Glimmer never seemed to pick up on them so he eventually stopped.

"He likes you" Adora told the princess one night on that ship. Catra had just been saved from Prime's clutches and she desperately needed something to distract herself. Glimmer rolled her eyes. "He really does, Glimmer"

"And how would you know, huh?" Glimmer asked her, exasperated. "What do you know about romance, Adora?"

"More than you'd realize" the blonde said solemnly as her thoughts drifted briefly to the hybrid sleeping in the other room. She shook her head of the gay thoughts. "Look, I'm just saying, it's super obvious he's into you and I think you feel the same"

"What-"

"Am I wrong?" Adora challenged. Glimmer never answered that question, but it did make something click in her brain. Something she'd always known deep down but had always shoved away or denied. A realization that was as terrifying as it was exciting.

Angela was right.
