So she had told him she loved him. Wonderful. Fantastic. And he had said it back. Even better. And he had missed her on the head! Amazing! But the thing was… it wasn't the first time any of those things had happened. She needed him to know that when she had said, "I love you," she didn't mean platonically. Or, she didn't exclusively mean platonically. God, why was being in love with your best friend so hard?

"I love you. I love you." Those words repeated in his head over and over again. "I love you too." A kiss on the head. Bow was beating himself up over that. A kiss on the head? Who was he kidding? He should have just kissed her like a normal person would after the person they were in love with told them they loved them. But he had been too worried about her not meaning it romantically that he chickened out. But she knew what he had meant, right? He had kissed her… but no, they'd done that before. God, why was being in love with your best friend so hard?

"I need to talk to you," they blurted at the same time. They had been walking together in the Brightmoon gardens hand in hand. Anyone else would have told them that this was obviously a date.

"You first," they both said together. 

They laughed a bit before Bow said, "You first, your majesty. I insist."

She giggled at his antics, then turned to face him and took his other hand in hers, so she was holding on to both of his hands. "I want you to know, I need you to know, that when I said 'I love you,' the other day, I didn't just mean platonically. I love you. I am in love with you."

His heart nearly exploded. Of course she would want to tell him exactly what he wanted to tell her in the exact same way. They were that in sync.

He lightly stroked her hair and cupped her face in his hands. "I'm in love with you too," he told her sincerely. "I have been for years. I love you so much, Glimmer." Then, because he wasn't going to chicken out again, he pulled her close to him and kissed her. A real kiss this time, full mouth-to-mouth contact. He kissed her tenderly but firmly at the same time, trying to convey all his years of loving her in one kiss. She kissed him back with just as much emotion.

So this is why being in love with your best friend was so hard. Because the payoff was so worth it.

I love She-ra. This show really made me smile, laugh, cry and love every character so freaking much. It taught me a lot of things about forgiviness, healing and definitely inspired me to be a better person. I really wish i could rewatch this show for the first time again because it's one of the greatest feelings i've ever experienced in my life. I remember when i finished to watch the show for the first time i felt so empty, i wanted to see more. I wanted to see Catra and Adora healing from their trauma and being happy together. I wanted to see Catra bonding with the princesses and building a friendship with them. I wanted to see Scorpia finally being happy, confident and feeling good enough in an enviroment where she is loved for who she is. I wanted to see Scorpia and Perfuma being happy together. I wanted to see Kyle, Lonnie and Rogelio again. I wanted to see them and catradora starting over again and being friends, maybe not like they used to be back then when they were kids but like a new fresh start i guess. I wanted to see Mermista and Sea Hawk playing detectives and solving mermysteries together again with the rest of princesses. I wanted to see Catra playing mermysteries. I wanted to see Spinetossa being happy together. I wanted to see glitra getting closer and acting like sisters sometimes because i know they would argue over dumb things, piss each other off constantly for fun and teaming up to make pranks on Adora, Bow and the rest of people. I wanted to see glimbow...my glimbow being happy together. I wanted to see Micah and Casta's dynamic and i wanted to see how Catra would bond with them. I wanted to hear Catra saying "Hey, Adora" again. I wanted to hear Adora saying "I love you, Catra". I wanted to see Glimmer saying "fuck you" at least 1 damn time. I wanted to see how glitra would get over their past and heal together. I wanted to see catradora kissing again. I wanted to see the best friend squad having a sleepover. I wanted them. I still do. I love them.

I watched this tiktok after finishing the show. I remember i started crying so bad. I love and miss them and i will love and miss them forever.

We've gotten requests for more info about some of the prompts so here are some ideas for what to do with this year's Glimbow Week prompts!

Will do you all in with a Horde Swap AU or just some contentious coworkers? Drama! Love. It.

So I love She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. It is beautiful, and I adore both how it handles relationships and redemption. No relationship is a perfect fairytale, but a plate of spaghetti; messy but wonderful. And redemption can come to anyone, as long as you’re willing to work for it. And sometimes it takes a lifetime and sometimes you aren’t forgiven, and all of that is okay. (Once Upon A Time also does it in an exemplary fashion with Regina Mills, who may’ve been the blueprint for complicated redemption in modern television.)

Anyway, I love the show, and its relationships, and today I’m doing…

ANGEL’S TOP 5 SHE-RA SHIPS!!

5. Scorfuma (Scorpia x Perfuma)

This ship is so wholesome. It is a huge refresher in SPOP; yes, like I said, the relationships here are worthwhile, but also difficult. Scorfuma is not that ship. It’s a beautiful femme lesbian falling in love at first sight with a magnificent butch lesbian. Another reason I love SPOP is because it subverts character stereotypes; Scorpia is butch as all hell and I wish she were real, because she is soft, sensitive, kind and sweet. Perfuma is assertive, self-confident, speaks her mind and does whatever she thinks is right regardless of what others think. (Although, she’s far from perfect and I don’t like how she treats Entrapta for a lot of the series.) Perfuma sees Scorpia for the wonderfully good person she is, and she falls in love with Scorpia for it. They are similar people, in which they’re both kind and sweet, but they are also noticeably different people. My mom says that a couple cannot be too similar or too different otherwise they won’t work, and Scorfuma is a perfect example of her wisdom.

4. Spinnetossa (Spinnerella x Netossa)

Spinnetossa should be every married couple’s endgame. I am sad that they didn’t get more screentime or lines, because they have the ideal marriage (next to the Addamses from The Addams Family and the Belchers from Bob’s Burgers and every marriage counselor should have these three couples in their waiting rooms as the couples to be like). This is a couple who loves and respects each other, and who are (rightfully, hehe) obsessed with each other. My favorite thing about them is their devotion to each other - as much as they wanna save the universe and magic, they are each other’s primary goal. They want to be together and want to keep each other safe and happy above all else. My favorite moment is where Spinnerella wins their bot-slaying contest and instead of getting annoyed, Netossa happily kisses her wife and calls her “my girl”. MELT LIKE 🧊 BABY!

3. Seamista (Mermista x Sea Hawk)

Oh my. If Spinnetossa are obsessed with each other, then Seamista is the definition of insanity. Sea Hawk is not immune to the flaws of Mermista, he loves her for all she is and celebrates her, singing her praises and building her up even if it just seems like silly simping (need me a person like that). Mermista is not immune to the positives of Sea Hawk even if she doesn’t act like it. She knows him to be a moral, kind, devoted, loving, caring and affectionate man, and shows it accordingly even if it seems to annoy her. (If it really did, you think they’d be a couple? 😉 ) She loves him, and I hate how people say she’s abusive to him. If their genders were flipped, it would be the definition of the gentle girl, brooding boy trope. Mermista has a whole kingdom (a crumbling one as she adds) on her shoulders, it would get to anyone! She appreciates Sea Hawk for sticking by and loving her, and they obviously care about each other very much.

2. Glimbow (Glimmer x Bow)

Glimbow is childhood friends turned romantic partners done RIGHT! Originally, I didn’t see it, but the hints were always there and they weren’t hints. They are legitimately friends but imo every good romantic relationship begins with and maintains friendship as the base. They go through hell together, with the loss of their parents (which Bow finds his and Glimmer finds hers, but for awhile, they’re alone together), an invasion and attack caused by Glimmer, and regaining magic in the universe. This ship shows that apologizing and working towards forgiveness is important part of any relationship. Glimmer will do anything to fix her mistake, and Bow forgives her because he loves her for every part of her, and deep down knows her guilt will always be the price she pays for that mistake. I love this ship for these reasons.

1. Entrapdak (Entrapta x Hordak)

My favorite ship in SPOP and it is above and beyond an ideal relationship for me. Like Glimbow, they were friends before they were lovers, but they wholeheartedly accept each other from the get-go. It isn’t about accepting flaws and positives - Entrapta sees Hordak as beautiful and wonderful because of his imperfections and she adores all of that in him, while Hordak worships Entrapta (oh you know he does) because she is the first person to accept him so readily for who he is. Not as a clone or a tool, as a person. He accepts her autism and immediately knows how brilliant and creative she is. They are constantly on each other’s minds as each other’s best friends, and they fall in love because of their imperfections. Just how they like it.

While I love Catradora, and I like the dynamic between Adora and Glimmer (just as best friends though), I just wanna take a moment to appreciate Glitra shippers. Like, from what I've seen, you guys are some of the most unproblematic people in the fandom and I love that. While Glitra wasn't something I thought about a lot at first, I think it's now become one of my favourite ships, I absolutely love the dynamic between Glimmer and Catra, and you guys are so creative with your AUs, like the ones where they become evil Queens together, chef's kiss

But considering that the Owl House is 2D animation, and proper lip-2-lip kisses don't always look the best in 2D animation (it either looks really weird, or someone's face is almost completely hidden), I feel like Huntlow could benefit from going in a different direction and still make it extra sweet and tender

Like Hunter going alone to do something because "blah blah wittebane reasons", and Willow grabs his arm and tells him to be careful, and then he just smiles, takes her hands in his and says "I will", and then gently kisses her hands.

GAH that would be so CUTE!!

Or alternatively a Glimbow parallel with the forehead kiss, because Glimbow and Huntlow are both the mlw bi4bi ship with similar weird names that everyone complains about despite the fact that the "beautiful" alternative they suggest is a real word ("Glow" or "Winter") which would be completely unsearchable without the show name.

But I digress.

Of course, for either of these, Hunter needs confidence, which... ah... good luck.

probably glimmer's Unwell Behavior at princess prom tbqh. initially i was like bow deserves to get with sea hawk. i want that for him. but i don't think they could date, per se. but i was a merfuma shipper at the time so like. look. it was season 1. i didn't Understand yet

What are your favorite things about the ship?

they both seem perfectly well-adjusted until you spend ten minutes with them & it becomes increasingly clear that their dynamic is "two anxious messes engage in mlm/wlw solidarity by kissing"

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

well similar answer as catradora but i follow tippen, who's queen of the glimbow ship, & i'm given to understand some people call the ship "glow". i think that's fucking stupid, which may or may not be unpopular. what am i supposed to do? google 'glow'? bullshit

How about 49 for Glimbow?

Once the first euphoria of victory began to fade (not completely—it lasted for days, in one form or another), Glimmer became aware that almost everyone around them was injured to some degree. The only one completely unscathed was Adora, thanks to She-Ra's magic. Catra hadn't been so lucky; apparently she'd had some kind of encounter with a First Ones guardian monster. Adora dragged her away, hissing and grumbling, to look for a first aid kit.

"What about you? Are you okay?" Bow asked, looking her over with furrowed brows. Glimmer found herself suddenly tongue-tied, overly aware of the warmth of his skin as he brushed hair out of her face and gently tipped her face this way and that, looking for damage.

I love you. She'd finally managed to say it out loud, and so had he, and the words echoed now in her brain. She could swear she still felt the warm spot on her forehead where he'd kissed her.

"I'm fine, Bow," she said, which was mostly true. She had a few bruises and abrasions, nothing worth worrying about. She reached for his hand—and gasped at the sight of the open gash on his arm. "When did this happen?"

"Huh. I don't know." Bow turned his arm to stare at the mess on its underside, halfway scabbed over and speckled with dirt. "It doesn't even hurt. Oh! Never mind, now it does."

"For goodness' sake, Bow. Sit down." She dragged him over to a nearby log and pushed him down on it. "Which way did Adora go? Maybe we should get her to heal it…"

"No," Bow said firmly. "She's going to need her strength for people who are a lot worse off than me."

"Ugghh. You're probably right." He usually was. "Juliet! Hey, Juliet, do you have bandages?"

"And antiseptic," said the Guard Captain walking by. Her helmet was gone and she was mussed and dirty, but seemed unharmed. Her arms were full of medical supplies that she was clearly passing out to all comers.

Glimmer grabbed what she thought she'd need, and pushed Bow back down on the log when he tried to stand up.

"You're going to sit right here," she said, "and let me take care of you for once."

She started cleaning the wound, washing dirt and gravel out of it as gently as she could. Bow flinched and hissed between his teeth.

"I know, I'm so sorry! Here, squeeze my hand." She put one hand in his, poured antiseptic over the gash with the other, and firmly refused to show any sign of discomfort as Bow crushed the life out of her fingers. "There we go. This stuff is supposed to have numbing agent in it, so it should be feeling better soon."

"It is," Bow said, his hand relaxing.

"Good. Let's get it bandaged up. Sorry, I need my hand back." She wound bandages around his arm, just tight enough to pull the edges of the wound together. "You probably need stitches, actually, but this will do for the moment."

Bow reclaimed his arm, rubbing absently at the bandage. "Thank you, Glimmer."

Glimmer looked down at his upturned face, her chest aching. She loved Bow's face so much. His eyes. His hair. His nose. His lips. "You've got to take better care of yourself," she said. "You're always so busy taking care of other people—mostly me—and it's not fair. You need to take care of yourself, too."

"Why bother, when I can get you to do it for me?" he said, mouth tilting up teasingly.

"Yeah, okay," Glimmer said softly. "You'll take care of me, and I'll take care of you. That works." She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his forehead, a mirror of the kiss he'd given her. "Thank you," she whispered into his hair. "For coming back to me."

"Always," he whispered back, and wrapped his arms around her. And they stayed like that, Glimmer hugging him to her chest and pressing her cheek to his head, for as long as they could.

i'd like to propose the ideal SPoP speedrun viewing order. feel free to argue for your own episodes. this mostly follows the catradora arc with some additions i consider essential- but it does skip some episodes that are perhaps useful for context

s1e1 and s1e2. obviously the sword parts 1 and 2. vital to understanding not just the story of spop but also catradora. also introduces us to glimmer and bow.

s1e8. princess prom. not as essential in the world building order but i mean like. come on. it's princess prom. maybe the second gayest episode in the show.

s1e11. promise. the breakup. fr this time. i think this episode really seals the reason why catradora is so filled with angst.

s2e2. ties that bind. my only pick from s2- this is mostly just a for funsies one because catra interacting with bow and glimmer is hilarious, and i felt weird not including s2 at all.

s3e3. crimson waste. e2 is fine but i find e3 more interesting and fun, and it's got catra. this is imo the best cold opening in the series, and leads into the next 3 episodes.

s3e4-6. portal centered. 4 sets up the whole shebang and there's a bit of drama between the two. 5 and 6 are portal world and are really gay. at this point there is no catradora content until save the cat arc, but i feel like the next couple are pretty vital to watching the show if you're speedrunning it.

s4e1. coronation. one of my personal favorite episodes in the show. the parallels between glimmer and catra are chef's kiss.

s4e6. scorpia. pretty emotionally charged episode and we start running into the bottom of catra's arc.

s4e9. hero. i'll always bake a pie for you mara <3

s4e10. fractures. catra's fracture. the best friend squad's fracture.

s4e11+12. beast island/destiny. pretty important imo, we find micah, we learn more about she-ra, and we start to see the first glimpses of adora's she-ra, not the first one's she-ra.

s4e13. destiny. catra bottoms out. shit goes down.

s5e3-5. save the cat arc. corridors is an instant cry ep and i actually enjoy the gas station episode, plus i feel like it helps bring glimbow back into the fold. and of course the whole reason we're here is save the cat itself.

s5e8 onwards. finding melog. returning to etheria and saving the chipped individuals. spinnetossa arc did make me cry. don't throw tanks. drunk shadow weaver. failsafe. the kiss. you're my dad. this is the crux of the show. we are watching these.

total episodes: 26 (half the show total) runtime: roughly 9 hours

honorable mentions:

s1e3. razz. not the most important character imo but her episode with adora is pretty good.

s2e5. whiteout. fun ep that is interesting but not entirely catradora packed.

s2e6. lightspinner. this is a good ep but i really dont want to see sw more than i have too.

s4e2. valley of lost. introduces double trouble, but perfuma annoys me this ep a bit
