Family Reunion
A/N: I had this idea in the shower last night. There’s more but my dinner is ready so I guess this just became more than a one shot. I really just made up this title before I posted it. I might come back and add pictures later. okay byeee
Warnings: none. I mean like lite cursing?
WC: 999 gang gang
“Okay, Khadijah is there anything else that we need to buy?” Antoinette asked. Khadijah looked over the list and shook her head.
“No I think that we’ve gotten everything on the list that you made.” she responded.
“Okay good now-”
Khadijah's phone rang and cut off her sister. “Oh shit. Speak of the devil,” she said answering the phone, “Hey, cuz what’s up?”
Antoinette waited as her sister held her conversation with Courtney. She wondered if her ears were burning. If they were, they probably hadn’t stopped ever since she’d gotten engaged.
“Okay see you soon,” Khadijah finished the call.
Antoinette narrowed her eyes.“What do you mean “see you soon?”
“Court is headed over to talk final party details. Her ears must have been ringin,” Khadijah laughed. Antoinette smiled at her older sister. She loved that they thought alike sometimes.
“When is she gonna get here?”
“They’re about 10 minutes out,” Khadijah answered.
“Damn. That means I gotta make two long ass trips out to the end of the driveway. For her and my damn food.” Antoinette whined. “Wait, what do you mean they?”
“Oh my bad. Erik is coming too.”
“Oh yeah the fiancee that got me in this trouble to begin with,” Anotinette groaned.
“Look if you don’t want to do this.. “ Khadijah trailed off and Antoinette let her. She wanted to hear the rest of that sentence. “I don’t really want to finish that. Please don’t say you don’t want to do this. I need you! You got all the party plannin skills lil sis,” she pleaded.
“Yeah whateva. I already committed. Plus, it’s at my house! I can’t call off their party 2 days before. Now if I would have had this brilliant idea yesterday, hmmph! Then, we’d be talkin!” she teased.
“Are you upset with Court? I mean it makes sense Ant. She knows we live together and she only invited me to be in her wedding party? I’d be a little bitter too.”
“Nah..,” Antoinette thought about it, “  I honestly just think all of this shit is weird. We’re not close with her at all. Even back when I was on social media, I don’t think I followed her or kept up with her life. We were thick as thieves as kids but I haven’t had a real conversation with her since undergrad. So, I wasn’t expecting to be a bridesmaid. I didn’t even know she had a man! I just think it’s odd that out of nowhere she’s resurfacing and trying to reconnect.”
“Aye good love hits everybody different,” Khadijah said.
“Let me go put on a damn bra and shorts that cover my ass before they get here.” Antoinette said rising from her seat on the couch. She walked towards her bedroom and yelled back at her sister, “THE SHIT I DO FOR YOU DEEJ! I BETTER END UP IN THAT NOVEL YOU WRITIN! MAKE ME A SUPERNATURAL QUEEN!”
“I WILL MAKE YOU THE QUEEN OF GETTIN ON MY DAMN NERVES!” Khadijah called back. Antoinette didn’t even look back at her sister. She just stuck her middle finger in the air and proceeded to her room. When she came out, she adorned a whole new outfit, she’d fluffed her hair and applied a lil lip gloss too.
“Bitch, where are you goin?” Khadijah asked.
“This is the first time we’ve seen Court in God knows how long. I have no need to flex because,” she gestured to her home and body, “we good where we at over here. Buuut, I atleast don’t want our reunion to have me lookin like a couch potato. You had to go to work and get ready. I’ve just been ready to finish this last season of Avatar the Last Airbender again. So, excuse me if I figured I’d make myself more presentable”
“The fact that anyone got you to wear a bra on a day where you don’t have to meet with clients is a mystery to me,” Khadijah said. Ant stuck her tongue out  at her sister and went into the kitchen when there was a knock at the door.
“I didn’t have to walk out to the gate to let them in? They may be my new favorite couple.” Ant said. Khadijah went to greet the new favs.
“Hey y’all!” Khadijah called out.
“Where the hell is my wine? I know this hoe did not finish my imported wine and said nothin” Antoinette thought. She was so wrapped up in her search that she hadn’t realized that her guests were already entering the kitchen. She reached for another bottle that would do and popped her head up from behind her bar.
Everything happened at once. Or at least it felt that way to Antoinette
“Oh my goodness!” screamed Courtney as she flitted towards Antoinette who was looking past Courtney at the man standing there. Her heart stopped. Everything stopped. She let go of her hold on the bottle and it tumbled to the floor in slow motion until it met the granite floor and created a sea of red at her feet. Courtney halted not wanting to cut herself. Khadijah went to grab some paper towels.
“Ant, you good?” Khadijah asked her sister who hadn’t moved out of the wreckage. Antoinette looked down and closed her eyes briefly.
“Fuck, yeah. I’m good. Sorry y’all,” she said as she went to grab a brown and a dust pan. “How about you two go have a seat on the couch while we take care of this? We’ll be right there.”
Antoinette helped her sister clean up the mess she’d made and before they could re-enter the living room Khadijah took one more hard look at her sister. “You sure you good?”
“Yup. You go ahead. Let me grab some waters.” Ant stuck her head in the freezer to cool down.
There’s no way this is real. This isn’t happening. He’s dead. That’s- This. This isn’t real.
She tried to convince herself it was true.

Shooting Star (2)
Hello Beloveds!
Now, before anyone else calls me out, I'll admit that I’ve been slacking. It’s been three months since I posted chapter 1-- my bad. 😬 Just love me, okay?
Here it is y’all, Chapter 2.
Author’s Note: I am very new to this, so be kind to me.
Warnings: Idk what goes here? Swearing? Use of the n word is inevitable.
Words: Just over 1K
Enjoy my loves xo 🖤✨
Chapter 1
Holding Aurora who’s wrapped around his midsection, Erik stands and walks where they’ve pointed. He has no desire to irritate or antagonize any of them, knowing how quickly this can go south, and that’s not a risk he’s willing to take.
The armed trio make quick work of the cash drawers, removing all bank employees from their posts, and away from their ability to trip the silent alarm. The largest of the three grabs the nearest teller, Zora, and drags her in the back to empty the safe deposit boxes, while the chatty second man circles the bank lobby checking his wristwatch obsessively and mumbling to himself. These two are obviously the muscle, and while they made a striking memory for all around, it was the third and much less abrasive robber that grabbed Erik’s attention. Even while trying to hide a curvaceous frame with baggy clothes, timbs too big for her feet, and a ski mask, Erik knew a woman when he saw one. She still was yet to say a word, but the energy around her, and they way the other two stole glances her way awaiting her almost imperceptible nod to make the next move gave away who was truly running this operation.
“Dear friends, we have no desire to harm a single hair on your heads. If you all cooperate, this will go swimmingly. Now, please do empty your wallets, keys, and phones, as well as any jewelry you may be wearing, into this bag as I come around,” says the one who invited everyone to the wall. While his voice carried across the shrieks of the hostages, his body appeared pallid and weak. His hands had a slight tremble, and the skin visible through the holes in the ski mask was almost jaundiced and slick with sweat. He had a manic energy about him that refused to quell; he couldn’t stay still, bouncing on the balls of his feet while he adressed the room.
As he began circulating with his bag, the crowd murmured and small cries rang out. The smell of sweat was thick in the air, and the quick intake of breath could be heard throughout the lobby. The tension in the air was stifling.
“Baba?”
The smallness of, and fear soaked quality of her call had Erik’s heart in a vice grip.
“It’s okay, Princess. You’re okay. This will all be over really soon,” he whispered back, ensuring to keep his growing anger out of his voice. He could already feel her heartbeat against his chest, and it was racing like a rabbit’s.
The largest robber returned from the vault, dragging Zora along with him. It was apparent by his glassy eyed stare that he’d been unable to find whatever he’d been looking for. And from the bruise marring on her left cheek, Zora was the recipient of his anger. Erik felt his blood boil, and his pulse spike. Without realizing it, he’d started to rise. Zora’s eyes cut to him, and he could see tears building in hers, ones she was too angry and stubborn to let fall. She shook her head, eyes cutting to Aurora still clutching his shirt, arm snug around his neck.
“Tatiana! It’s not here! All of this, and the fucker isn’t even here,” the robber mumbled, repeating himself over and over.
“Puck. Enough,” Those two words snapped out were all she had to say for the leader to quiet him down. He may have snarled and paced, but he didn’t utter another word.
Tatiana continued, “It has to be here. Everything that i’ve found, every record, every trace leads to here. I know it’s here. You stay here in front with Oberon, and I’ll check in the back. Maybe you overlooked one of the safe deposit boxes. It MUST be here. It has to be.” She started off towards the vault.
“‘Scuse me, pet, but I haven’t all day.”
Erik looked up to see the one they called Oberon looking down onto him and Aurora. Erik emptied his pockets, took off his chain, watch, and the small studs in his ears, all one handed, his left arm still holding Aurora tightly to his chest. She turned her head at Oberon’s voice so that she no longer had her face buried in her father’s neck. In doing so, she exposed a necklace that she wore which had been hidden by her mass of curls and the collar of her mustard yellow dress-- a small rose gold filigree chain with the most intricate and delicate panther pendant. Oberon started as though he were reaching for her necklace, and for the first time since the first shots rang out, Aurora found her voice.
“No! You can’t have it. Do not touch my body!” Her small chestnut fist clenched around her panther will all the might a six year old could muster, her voice reverberating throughout the lobby. Tatiana’s head snapped back to the hostages seated by the wall, trying to discern the problem, Puck was so surprised he finally stopped pacing, and Oberon was taken aback, retreating a step before he caught himself. Erik couldn’t hide that quick flash of dimples, he was overcome with pride that his daughter knew how to speak up for herself, and that all of their lessons on prioritizing her safety over an adult’s comfort hadn’t landed on deaf ears, even if now wasn’t the ideal moment to assert her bodily autonomy.
“Babygirl, I know it’s important to you, but you need to give him--”
“Baba no! This was mama’s. She told me I had to keep it safe for her when she got sick. She said you gave it to her, and I promised I’d do it. Somnenly.”
“I know sweetheart, but I’ll get you another. Please. You are more important to me than any necklace could be. I promise you that Mommy would understand.”
The tears that were streaming down her cheeks were almost his undoing. Still, her safety was what was most important. Tears would dry; he couldn’t lose her, or bear to see one of these three lose what little patience they had remaining.
Tatiana hadn’t budged from her spot since her eyes landed on Aurora’s necklace. Her eyes had an almost feral look about them. Her breath had quickened.
“Found it.”

I'm trying to remain cool with some anti-Twizzler AND anti- Red Vines people who have recently exposed themselves. Soooo, my remedy is to ask this question and see if we can remain mutuals.
Imagine this: It's December 2020. The pandemic is over and there is a free vaccine for COVID19. Nothing in the world is on fire nor are there killer wasps or aliens around to cause concern for your life. Global edicts have been adopted by all governements in order to re-distribute wealth and more importantly to not only acknowledge but eradicate all forms of legal systemic racism and they have put in anti-racist legislation requiring all media, schooling insitituaitions and authorities to adhere to the amelioration of centuries worth of murders, defamation of character, etc. Y'all gone really have to imagine.
To celebrate, you have a delicious meal with your closest friends and/or family to celebrate the new journey ahead. You have NO dietary nor financial restrictions and you don't have to worry about anyone else's. What is the meal that you will have? Please list the following:
Appetizer:
Beverage:
Main Entree:

A/N: Okay. So, this was supposed to be a completely different story with more thot antics than romance. But then this idea came and I decided to choose this one instead. I’m still just practicing over here. So, any feedback is appreciated. 😊 This is my first and most likely last fic that will be with a real celeb. So, I hope y’all dig it. It will be a series. So, expect more! I'm just not certain how I feel about writing for real humans that exist. AS ALWAYS, shout out to @glittermakesmesmile for always reading first and making things make sense. She’s wonderful. Be on the look out y’all. 👀

“I WANNA FEEL THE HEAT WITH SOMEBODY! YEAAHHHH I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY. WITH SOMEBODY WHO-” Jayden stopped belting out the Whitney lyrics as her music paused and her Trey Kennedy ringtone filtered through her car’s speakers.
RING RING RIIIIIIING. RING RING RING RIIIIING RING!
She looked at her screen and the unsaved number which was staring back at her.
“Hello?” she asked trying not to let the aggression creep into her voice towards whomever had ruined her jam sesh as she weaved through the madness that was LA Traffic.
“Hey girl, how you doing?” greeted her with a sweet Southern twang
“Oh shit! It’s Terrell” Jayden thought automatically as she began gushing. All aggression was temporarily forgotten.
“Hey boo! I’m just circling the block trying to find a spot. I’m makin’ a pit stop at Blue Bottle. What’s up? Can I grab a coffee for you?”
“..bring me their Single Origin?” Jayden heard coming through in the background.
“Nigga” Terrell chuckled in an incredulous tone without losing his good humor.
“Who’s that? Is that Matt?” she asked trying to piece together what was going on. She was supposed to be meeting Terrell in 45 minutes. She was barely 3 miles away from his place. She’d planned  the day out perfectly so that she would be on time, for once in her life.  You only win the Shits & Giggles Song Association once. I mean, how could she be late for THAT?!
It sounded like there was some sort of disagreement happening on the other end as Terrell’s voice came in high pitched and strained  “No. That’s not Matt, it’s-,”
“Wait, it’s my fault. Let me tell her” said the mystery person on the line. Jayden was confused as she put her car in park and grabbed her headphones so that she could continue to have this conversation while she stood in line at Blue Bottle.
“Ugh. Okay,” Terrell relented.
“Hey Jayden. It’s Jayden, right?” spoke an unfamiliar male voice on the other line.
“Yes.. and this is?” Jayden questioned as she opened the door and was blindly greeted by a barista.
“Well hopefully,  the one you grab a Cold Brew for.” chuckled out of the other end of her phone.
“NIG-GUH. Where is my henny? Cuz I can’t wit yo ass,” Terrell hollered in the background and Jayden heard some generous pouring being done.
“Okay. Can someone please explain to me what’s going on? I’m fourth in line so if you want anything I need some answers first. Who is this?”
“Damn. Straight to it. She’s kind of feisty. She gotta be a fire sign.” Jayden heard this come in muffled as if the person was trying to communicate out of her earshot. She sighed outwardly. Typically, she had more patience than this. However, LA traffic really brought out the worst in her.
“Third in line.” she said, “and about 10 seconds away from using some choice words with you myself.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Let me explain. My name is Trevor. Trevor Jackson” he paused. Jayden waited for some further explanation. This name wasn’t ringing a whole lot of bells for her and she didn’t see the point in him being on her line. She was still confused; although, having a name did cause her to simmer down a little. She pulled her phone out of her back pocket while he spoke and was getting ready to Google “Trevor Jackson” but she was bombarded by all of the texts she hadn’t received while her phone was in drive mode.
“Okayy, Trevor who wants me to bring him coffee. What’s going on?” she asked in a genuinely curious tone and without her previous bite. She made her way through the barrage of “Congrats”, “Good luck” & “Don’t Fuck Up!” texts her family and friends had showered her in.
Trevor took his time providing her with an explanation. He was measuring out his words and how he would respond “Look, I know that you’re scheduled to shoot your Song Association episode with Terrell soon and that’s great! Congratulations on the win, uh, by the way! But, I had a mix up on my end. I thought that I was supposed to meet him today at 2 pm. Instead of next Saturday at 2 and I’m actually going to be unavailable at that time. So, I was thinkin maybe I could go first since I’m already here. Then, Terrell can just shoot yours afterwards? Plus, my mom’s here to watch me do this because she’s a big Terrell fan and it would mean a lot.”
Well when you play the mom card. Jayden thought
The boy was lucky there was only one register at this Blue Bottle and that the person ordering right now had a lot of complicated orders or his lengthy answer may have caused him his Cold Brew.
“Okayy. That makes sense,” Jayden says, “ I blocked off the rest of my day to be here so I can hang around. I get to watch yours right? I mean you’re not gonna just ask me to bring you coffee and then make me leave?” she giggled as a way to relieve the nervousness she felt about the situation and then she waited because she was certain this Trevor guy nor Terrell would ask her to leave. Right?
She was met with silence. Absolute and complete utter silence. There was no sound whatsoever on the other end.
“Hello? Helllo? Did y’all put me on mute?” Three seconds later there was roaring laughter and she stepped forward. She would be next in line real soon.
“Yes! I’m sorry I accidentally put you on mute. But thank you! Thank you! My mother and I truly thank you.”
“It’s okay! Does your mama want anything while I’m here?” Jayden asked.
“Oh, yeah. Uh please get her the tea. I promise I got you when you get here.
“It’s fine,” Jayden responded. “Well, I guess I’ll see y'all soon. It’s my turn,”
“Thank you Jayden. I really mean that.”
“Not a problem” she said.
17 minutes later Jayden was sitting in her car in the Guest Parking garage that Terrell had told her to park in when she arrived.
“Here” she texted.
“Meet me at the elevator” was her reply.
Jayden grabbed the drink carrier and her mini black backpack and headed for the elevator. By the time she made it to the door, Roxy was there to let her in.
“Hi Jayden” she said.
“Oh my goodness, hiii” Jayden said as she gave Roxy a hug with her free hand. It was just sinking in that this was real. She was really about to be on Song Association. She loved watching the series & was ready to come for Miss Amber P Riley’s perfect score. She definitely didn’t have the perfect vocals to match. However, her competitive nature was not going to let her miss out on this opportunity to fuck this game up.
“Hey girl, thanks for being so cool about today,” Roxy said as they stepped into the elevator. She pressed the button for the fourth floor. “We’re going to be doing lots of filming today so we can get this content out on schedule.”
‘Yeah, it’s no problem,” Jayden responded, “ Like I said,I already set aside the rest of my day for this. So, it’s really not a problem. Plus, this way I get to say I saw this Trevor guy on Terrell first!” she laughed.
“You’ve really never heard of him before?” Roxy inquired.
“Mm-mm” she shook her head in the negative.
“Wellll, you are definitely in for a treat,” Roxy smirked. The elevator dinged to let them know that they had made it to the fourth floor.
She took a right out of the elevator and led the way down the hallway until they made it to unit 414. Roxy opened the door and Jayden was immediately met with fresh air. After the heat of the LA sun, the cold air was refreshing.
“Miss JAY-den!” Terrell called out to her once he heard his front door shut. He set his glass down on the table. She couldn’t help it. She broke out into a full faced grin. She couldn’t even see anything but his hallway and all of her teeth were already on full display. She followed Roxy deeper into the apartment and when she saw him she was so overwhelmed that she wasn’t sure what to do. Terrell hopped off of his stool, removed the drink carrier from her hands by placing it on a nearby table and greeted her with open arms. In that singular moment, Jayden felt welcomed and as if she was the most valued individual in that room. So, of course it was at that time that she made the fated mistake of looking over Terrell’s shoulder and got a real  good look at a well-groomed and delicious piece of chocolate. Trevor gave a slight wave which she returned with a smile.
“MM. I am so glad that you’re here.” Terrell said as he rubbed circles in her back and gave her all of the reassurance she needed to be there. She was still nervous. But she was starting to think that this was all planned and for a purpose.
“I’m so glad to be here!” she replied as he released her from their embrace.
“And BIIIIIIIIIITCH. This is a WHOLLEEE ASS LOOK! We gone talk about this later boo. But can I get a twirl?” Jayden did one better. She retreated back towards the hallway and came back in full runway flair. She strutted into the room, twirled and looked over her shoulder as she headed back towards the entrance. Finally, she strutted back one last time and gave Terrell a smirk. His energy was contagious. She had nearly forgotten that there were other individuals in the room.
“Oh yeah. Definitely a fire sign,” Trevor commented as he reached for whatever concoction Terrell had prepared for him prior to her arrival.
“Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry. Where are my manners?” She reached for her drink tray and provided him with his Cold Brew, “Trevor, I presume?” she asked as she stretched the drink out to him.  He responded with a smile of his own.
“That’s me.” Trevor verified nodding his head. He took the drink with his left and shook her hand with his right. “Thank you Jayden. I really do appreciate everything. What do I owe ya?”
“Oh no, that’s fine. Don’t even worry about it.”
“Nah, I got you. What’s your venmo? Cashapp? Zelle? I got you.” Jayden ignored his queries and responded with his own.
“Where’s your mama?” Just then, an older Black woman with tight skin, a tight body to match and some of the kindest eyes Jayden had ever seen came from around the corner. She was really out here showing that Black don’t crack and she wasn’t even on camera!
“Hi Mrs. Jackson, my name is Jayden.” she smiled and handed the older woman her tea, “here’s your drink ma’am. I got some sugar too just in case you’re like me and like it sweet.”
“Thank you so much sweetheart. I love sugar. I need just enough to keep the diabetes at bay” Mrs. Jackson responded as she too embraced Jayden in a hug. “Your timing is perfect actually. I was just heading out.” she said.
“Oh no, is everything okay?” Jayden asked hoping she wasn’t being too nosey in her first impression.
“Oh yes darling. Trevor’s brother Ian has an event today too and I told him I would be there. But, I refused to miss the opportunity to meet this young man and see my baby boy get a few songs in on this game.” Mrs. Jackson clarified. “Thank you so much for this tea. Trevor, did you pay this young woman for this?” she asked sharply. Jayden could tell two things about Mrs. Jackson off the bat: 1) she was kind 2) she was no nonsense . The look she gave her son spoke volumes. It said “I know I raised you to be polite. I don’t care who you singin for but you better be respectful and don’t expect nothin from no one. Not even a damn coffee.
Damn. Jayden thought.
“I’m working on it ma.” Trevor told her. “Okayy baby” Mrs. Jackson said while continuing to stare at her son. The lecture left her eyes and was replaced with a knowing look while she smiled at her son.
Well Miss Jayden, I mean it.  I do appreciate it, and good luck to you on your game too. I’m sure you’ll be wonderful,” she said as she hugged the young woman one final time.  Mrs. Jackson continued around the room saying goodbye and hugging everyone. “Terrell, make sure you don’t go easy on my baby boy. He got this. We been practicin’, ya know.” .
Jayden watched the woman, enamored by the similarities between Mrs. Jackson and her favorite aunt.  Jayden was so caught up in her thoughts, she initially missed Mrs. Jackson’s final goodbye to her, catching only enough to ask the woman to repeat herself.
“I’m sorry Mrs. Jackson, what did you say? Jayden stammered out flustered as she had gotten so in her own head.
Mrs. Jackson paused before scurrying out the door to support her first born “ I said I’ll see you soon baby”, giving the young woman a wink and mischievous smirk before disappearing out the door.
Jayden stared at the door, mouth opening trying to figure out what the woman had meant.

^ Jayden’s Song Association Fit
-----------------------------------------------
“Let me take my Black ass to the restroom while we got ourselfs a break. ROCKSY, what’s that cam’ra lookin’ like? We need another battery?”
“We’re good. Jayden, you want a snack?” Roxy redirected at their latest arrival. Jayden tried to sneak a look at the biggest one in the room and failed. He smiled at her. Her glance had caught both of them off guard and it made him feel giddy. It was the most beautiful and natural response she'd received from him-or anyone for that matter- in a while.
“I’m good.” she said hiding her own bashfulness behind her steely exterior. She maintained eye contact with Trevor. Roxy opened up a cabinet to pull out an assortment of Lays and refill the chip bowls that Trevor had demolished when he’d shown up
“ Imma keep tryin. Venmo? Paypal? Zelle? CashApp? Damn, I can get it to you in Bitcoin if that’s what you prefer.”
“How have you done on the game so far?” Jayden again completely ignored his attempts to repay her. She wasn’t concerned about a few extra dollars.
“I’m doin alright so far." He also refused to break contact first "So far Song Association has been the easiest game for me to navigate today.” Jayden blinked and conceded for now. Motivated by his win Trevor strolled over to the living room where she was admiring some of Terrell’s music selection.
“Clever.” she tossed over her shoulder as she reached for a vinyl. In one swift motion, Trevor had taken it from her mid-review.
“Al Green?” He smirked. “ You’ve got taste J. Let me guess.. uh, track 5?”
“What?”
“That’s your single. I see it. No worries though. We can work on that.” he said just as he caught a glimpse of Terrell returning back into the room. Trevor placed the album back in her hands and returned to his stool, readjusting his mic.
“Alright, Mr. Jackson. YA READY?! No more stoppin’ this midnight train to Georgia.” Terrell hollered. Jayden giggled at his silliness as she glanced at the tracklist for Al Green’s Greatest Hits.
Track 5: Tired of Being Alone
Damn he cocky. Jayden thought. At least it wasn’t in an overbearing manner. It was a little endearing. He seems a little goofy. That smile was very telling.  But she wouldn’t show that just yet. Sitting back in her audience of one, Jayden watched them continue to play.
“If I gave you the word “Never” what hits your mind?” Terrell asked the singer. Trevor starts going into a Jackson 5 single that Jayden honestly didn’t know. But, she knows that he is DOING IT. Her eyes go wide as his Michael impression is spot on and before she can even register her own body's movements, she's vibing with it. Music always had a way of helping her with her emotions and channeling a less.. “feisty”,as it had been put earlier, connection with herself and the rest of the world. She was moving around in her seat and doing her best not to spill her coffee over herself or her new friend’s floor.
"Oh shit!" she said clamping her hand over her mouth immediately. That was louder than she expected. Especially since it hadn't meant to leave her head at all. "I'm sorry," she whispered.
"AHA HA" Roxy guffawed. "I tried to warn you. Don't worry Jayden.  We'll fix it in post anyways"
"Jayden you good girl. I had the same reACTion the first time I laid my eyes- I meant my ears on Trevor" Terrell stated taking a very pointed sip from his mug. Everyone knew he'd meant what he'd said the first time and it was causing them all to try not to break into laughter so they could push forward.
"Yeah. Very natural response J. Hakuna matata" Trevor confirmed. Jayden playfully rolled her eyes.
"What's the next word? He's a lil too comfortable" she spoke up.
Terrell nodded at Jayden and refocused on Trevor. "WAY. w-a-y"
Without hesitation, he bursted into song. It was another that Jayden was sadly unfamiliar with.
What is in this man's repertoire?
Soon enough Terrell explained that it was an original off of a project called Rough Drafts 2. At once Jayden grabbed her phone and opened her Spotify app. Creating a new playlist, she glanced up at the boys and locking in on Trevor she came up with an idea. "Thotful n Tired 💭" she titled it. She was adding damn near his whole discography when her ears perked up at the fact that he had an additional 200 unreleased singles on his computer at home. The more time spent in his presence the more the question of "Who the hell is this nigga?" rose in Jayden's mind.
Trevor responded to Terrell all the while staring at Jayden and answering her unspoken question as well.
"So any fans that live in L.A. and you wanna just come and listen to new music not recorded.." he trailed off leaving an open invitation for Jayden and the rest of LA.
He really just said: Come find out
------------------
Jayden was both relieved and saddened when Trevor was finished with his Song Association. In a very short time, she'd learned a lot about this person she'd never even heard of until that afternoon. As his song had promised, he truly had her beggin for more.  The way they interacted and the feelings she felt towards him had grown quickly but it was familiar. It seemed as if they'd already done this dance before. Jayden was trying to figure out how to rationalize this to herself but she couldn't. It was the way that she and Trevor had silently held private conversations  in a room with others.  Even as they were learning one another, a lot of the pieces already seemed to be connected.
Trevor was filming his spot for Terrell’s outro. It took every ounce of restraint in Jayden not to cackle out loud when he said “I think we’re gonna queue the rain right now. Mm hmm. You feel that? This is not a joke. It’s a motion in your ocean.”
Trevor had made her feel a range of emotions in their time together. Jayden had laughed, she’d pondered a topic or two she’d never fully considered, she’d felt sexy and above all else- she felt noticed. Truly seen.  It was a lot. But, the girl was a hustler by nature. So, she was keeping up with each curveball that day had thrown at her.
“Imma run to the restroom” Jayden announced. She wasn’t certain why she felt the need to do so. But it seemed far more courteous than roaming through Terrell’s halls.
“Alright we gotta get ready for you when ya done Miss Jayden!” Terrell called out.
When she returned, there was no Trevor in sight. Just Roxy and Terrell. Jayden wasn’t disappointed for them being there. Although she was a little put off that Trevor had exited so quickly and without saying goodbye?  She wasn’t about to let that show though. Sure, she really thought she’d felt a connection with him. But, she wasn’t going to let it get in the way of the single calendar event of her year- outside of her birthweek of course.
“My turn?” Jayden asked as she returned back into the kitchen where the green screen was.
“Mmmhhmm” Terrell affirmed “I just gotta follow you to this res’room. I dun broke my damn seal. Plus,  we waitin on Trevuh to finish his call.” As if he heard his queue, the front door opened and Trevor came back in.
“Oh.” Jayden let out. Trevor studied her as Terrell turned towards his restroom. Roxy was on the balcony getting some air and making a call of her own.
She was feening her cool, unbothered mask. But that one syllable had given her away. “What? You thought I left?” he asked.
“I mean you were gone. So, yeah.” Jayden said shrugging her shoulders and throwing her wrist back dismissively.
“Huh.” Trevor stared back quizzically. “I can’t do that just yet. One: I don’t think it’s fair that you got to see mine and I don’t get to see yours and two: I still need to figure out a way to make sure we’re even.”
“Ahh. So you’re stayin?”
“I got a little extra time. Plus, this is definitely worth it. But look, promise me something real quick.”
“Yeah, what’s that?”
“Since you’re so gung-ho on not taking back the money which is owed to you. Let me pay my debt another way.”
“What if I like the notion of Trevor Jackson being forever indebted to me?” The smolder he returned to her made her feel that someone had pressed play on Puddles again. But she simply crossed her arms and cocked her head at him. They were in yet another staring contest.
Trevor let a beat pass as he wound up his pitch in his mind. “Aight, how about-
“Okay. I hope ya’ll enjoyed.. Ya break,” Terrell trailed off as he walked in on the tension that occupied the room. Jayden took a small step back from Trevor. She hadn’t realized that they were all in each other's personal space.
“Yup. I’m ready.” Roxy re-entered from the balcony and grabbed the mic Trevor had used earlier that day to affix to Jayden. “Feel okay?”
“It does.” Jayden said. All of a sudden all of that calm she’d felt left her. She was getting the nerves again. She wasn’t certain if it was because of the game she was going to play or the one she’d been entangled in since she’d laid eyes on Trevor. He himself was still trying to figure out this woman. She had a hard exterior and a beguiling sexual energy that he couldn’t detach himself from. When she sat on that stool allowing Terrell to compliment her outfit and introduce herself a little bit, she radiated. She also had a pretty good voice too for a Shits and Giggles winner.
“I’m mad at you” Terrell said.
“Why?” Jayden
“I hear it. I hear that there in ya throat box. You got them vocals.” Terrell said. “Why you hidin?”
“Ohmygod. Hush. I can hold a tune here and there. But I don’t know about them vocals. I don’t know how to control it.”
Terrell squinted his eyes. “I don’t believe it. Sing that song again. Because you got the emotion. I can tell you feel these songs here. You haf’way there but you too worried about sounded perfect. Let that go.”
Jayden was quick to adapt. She took that advice from Terrell and moments later you could hear the difference. Closing her eyes she tried again
Have you ever found the one
You've dreamed of all of your life
Do just about anything to look into their eyes
Have you finally found the one you've given your heart to
Jayden tried her best not to get into her head about fucking up and pushed the nervousness down within her. Because when she became tense it would lock up her voice and she would miss her mark altogether
Only to find that one won't give their heart to you
She exhaled from her nose and smiled because she’d clearly sounded better than the first time
Have you ever closed your eyes and
Dreamed that they were there
Jayden opened her eyes and stopped. She may not have control; but, she knew her limit
“Now I know you didn’t stop.” Jayden picked up some of the liquid courage Terrell had fixed her. Her coffee was long gone by this point. She couldn’t keep the fear at bay. She didn’t want to make that big of a fool of herself today and have her voice crack like a pre-pubescent teen.
Trevor was taking it all in.  She was a whole party when put on the spot and she easily gave off a coolness that made you certain to never cross her. She was not one to be played with.  But it was obvious that music opened up another avenue to Jayden. Trevor had seen it when their roles were reversed. She was empathetic to the emotions of  whichever song he sang.
Her music taste was eclectic as well. She’d come through with country, gospel, r&b, showtunes and she seemed to have every Chicago rapper’s discography down pat. Trevor was genuinely impressed by her ability to copy and paste an artist’s essence into her own. She was fucking up the game and had songs for every word Terrell threw her way.
“RIGHT R-I-G-H-T” Terrell announced. Jayden glanced a look at Trevor and then she gave her undivided attention to Terrell.
Just stand right here
Let me show you what I'm about
To do to that body
And come down here
Let me show you where to touch my body
Let the foreplay begiiiin
Bet you never had this before
Cause once I go iiiiiiin
I'm gone have you begging for more
Boy, I'm talking right now, right now, right now, yeah
Right now, oh
Can we make some love right now?
Jayden laughed and when she’d finished, there was silence. It was like someone had pressed the mute button in real life. Then the room erupted with noise at once
“UH UH”
“hOw?”
“Whoa whoa whoa”  all crashed on top of each other.
“What?” Jayden asked.
“WHAT?! This heffa really just said WHAT? TUH!” Terrell hollered.
“Wait. You said you’d never heard of Trevor before,” said a very baffled Roxy.
“Before a few hours ago, no. I hadn’t.” Roxy said. Jayden gave a shrug in Trevor’s direction.
“But you just sang his song?” Roxy asked
“Yeah. Because I heard him sing it earlier.
“You mean to tell me, that you heard this negro sang that song one time half an hour ago and you committed it to your memory?”
“Yes. I have perfect echoic memory. Obviously I don’t always process this in a way where I can duplicate it perfectly. But, I can mimic it pretty close.”
Trevor finally spoke up. “So when you hear something you can pull up that audio in your mind and not only play it back for yourself but you’ve trained yourself to be able to mimic it almost dead ass spot on?”
“Yeah. That’s pretty much it.” Jayden said as if she’d just read rattled off the day’s weather report. “You’re pretty sharp.” The compliment rolled off of Trevor in his astonished state of mind. Just then, his phone vibrated in his pocket. “Damn” he muttered looking at the screen. “Aite y’all, that’s my cue.” I gotta head out. Just as his mother had done, Trevor said goodbye to everyone individually. He saved Jayden for last.  “Good luck Jayden. It was nice meeting you. Matter of fact, let me get your info so I can follow up with you to see if you really get that perfect score” He offered his phone out to her with the keypad pulled up.
“Oh, you already know that I came to win today.” she tapped some buttons and gave him back his phone. Looking down, Trevor realized that she’d followed herself on his Instagram account.  She smiled but her eyes only said one word:
Checkmate.

Jayden’s OOTD:
Tumblr media
Jayden was shocked that she had held onto her composure thus far. The exchanges that she’d had with Trevor had been spicy from jump. Neither had sent any nudes, but the innuendos and open ended interpretations on what would happen the next time they were in the same room left her mind occupied every night since she’d met him three weeks ago.
This was her second trip around his block trying to find a parking spot.
“Oo oo ooo!” She said throwing her car in reverse and slowly retreating from the stop sign. The owner of the parked Kia Soul that had just beeped was going to be getting all of the good karma today. She patiently sat in her car as the woman who vaguely resembled Gwen Stefani started her ignition and departed. Jayden parallel parked her Honda Civic SI 2018 coupe perfectly into the spot. She flipped the visor down to do a final check of her beat before she grabbed her handbag and the drink tray from her passenger seat. She double checked the address on her phone and approached the door.
Tumblr media
Ringing the doorbell she did her best to quell any nerves that she felt. She instead allowed her mind to swim with thoughts on how good this man was going to look opening up this door. She could see movement through his front window and jutted her hip out a little further so that the slit in her skirt accentuated her leg a little more.
Trevor opened the door with a smile that held her full attention. “Hey J” he greeted. She cheesed back at him unable to cease the wrinkles that this man would be destined to leave her with. As her eyes trailed down his frame she took note of his pink distressed sweater, the grey joggers and the black socks which adorned his feet and completed his outfit. Trevor watched her watch him and observed the question mark which took over her disposition. She didn’t ask any questions outright but it was plain on her face.
Tumblr media
“Hey,” she gave back with a deflated smile. Trevor opened the door wider for her to come in. They stood in his entrance and Trevor took the drink tray from her as Jayden removed her shoes and placed them on the small rack that was next to his front door.
“This is really convenient,” she noted as she allowed her soles to meet the cool tile of his floor.
“Yeah, this way I don’t have to worry about too much people bringing outside inside my home. Come on,” he said with a tilt of his head to indicate the direction they were headed. Trevor brought her into his kitchen which was adjacent to his living room. He placed the drink tray  containing his coffee and her water cup on the counter.
“Thank you for this by the way,” he said, grabbing his coffee and taking a sip. He had never felt awkward in his own home before. But I suppose there’s a first for everything. He had been feelin this woman since day one. Now three weeks later here she was looking devourable in his kitchen and he didn’t know what to do with himself.
“Well one of us had to keep up our end of the bargain,” Jayden quipped. She replaced her deadpan expression because she wasn’t trying to start their encounter off on the wrong foot. “What’s this?” she asked gesturing to the large tupperware bowl filled with water and some meat and the assortment of vegetables and seasonings he had on his countertop.
Trevor cocked his head at her. “These are the ingredients we’re going to need for our dinner tonight.” He leaned in a little closer to her. He was guzzling that coffee down and Jayden was wishing that his lips would be attached to her instead.   “But, uh, what do you mean I didn’t keep up my end of the bargain?” Jayden raised her eyes from his mouth to stare at him as she tried to determine if he genuinely wasn’t certain what she was referring to or if he was just playing dumb to mess with her. She blinked slowly and gave a small chuckle deciding that it was the former of the two.
“The day we met. You looked me dead in the eye and said that because you’re a nudist, you would be answering the door with a big cup of joe and nothing else. Obviously because we decided that I was going to be the one to bring the coffee, I figured you’d make a few adjustments. This,” she Vanna Whited to his sweater and joggers, “ was not what I had in mind,”. She reached for the water cup and attempted to quench one of her thirsts .
Trevor was caught off guard. But once his mind had processed what she’d said he tried and failed to stifle the laughter that was dominating his body. “Girl, you are somethin.” He wiped some water from his eyes, placed his cup on the counter and crossed his arms at his chest. Leaning back against the sink he asked, “So, you’re upset because I have on too many layers? I can be naked in less than thirty seconds if that’s what you want Jay. Just say the word.” There was no question. The thought was intriguing to Trevor but she needed to clarify.
“I’m not that thirsty.” Jayden said punctuating her statement with another sip from her water cup only to find that it was already empty. Trevor’s left eyebrow shot up in a manner that catechized her without speaking. She powered forward as if she hadn’t seen that, “I’m just trying to see if you’re a man of your word Jackson,”. Before the period had even been placed at the end of her sentence, the sweater was up and over his head. The joggers were next to go. Trevor watched her.  He’d actually made her speechless. He closed the distance before them and continued on with his cheeky behavior.
“Is this better Miss Pierce?” He asked in a low voice as he towered over her, “Do I need to ditch the socks and the boxers next? It’s your call,”
Jayden couldn't even feign that she was unbothered. His appearance. The timbre of his voice. His proximity. They were causing her mind to cloud.  She tried to give herself a little room to breath but she was pinned by the kitchen counter. There was nowhere to go but forward. So, she advanced.  Staring up into his eyes, daring Trevor to make the next move.
The additional temptation wasn’t what Trevor was looking for. He stared back into her eyes again speaking without forming words.
“Show me you want this. ” his eyes called. Jayden licked her lips and fixed them into a smirk.
“I want you.”
It was game on.
Trevor grabbed her by the waist and placed her atop his kitchen counter. He left his left hand on her exposed thigh and used his right to hold her chin in place as he maintained their connection. He was aware of her everywhere and they hadn’t even done anything yet. The rise and fall of her chest. The wanting in her eyes. The way she fell into a submissive role at his first display of dominance. He was savoring this moment because he knew that whatever happened after this had the potential to be his downfall or his triumph. Hell, when it came to Jayden the possibility of both was also on the table. Quite literally. Whatever the outcome, he was ready to eat.
Trevor dove in without abandon. His right hand fell to her neck as he tasted her lips for the first time. She gasped, whether for additional breath or out of shock Trevor wasn’t sure but he used it. His tongue explored her mouth and she took this opportunity to spar back with him. Sucking his tongue and deepening the kiss she moaned. Jayden bit his bottom lip and moved to bring her left hand to grip the hand he held around her neck. She swiped something on the counter on the way up to reaching him. She jumped and bit him a little harder than she’d intended.
“Fuck!” Trevor hollered. He laughed into their broken kiss but didn’t break his distance to her. Their foreheads touched as they panted into one another’s space.
“Maybe we should..” Jayden trailed off.
“Yeah. Uh, yeah. Maybe we should wait until after dinner’s ready” he picked up glancing down to the floor to see the chili powder, salt and paprika bottles that had fallen. Thankfully none of them had opened up.
Jayden reached out to caress his cheek and guide his attention back to her. “Dinner ain’t goin nowhere. But, we can move this party from the counter to the couch,” she offered. Trevor didn’t need to be told twice. He scooped her up causing her to giggle and wrap her legs around his waist. When he sat down on the couch she adjusted herself to straddle him.
Tumblr media
“It’s not fair that I’m over here in my drawers and you got all of this fabric between us.” he pouted.  Jayden laughed rolling her eyes. “Are you gonna be a baby or are you gonna do something about it Jackson?” she challenged, “matter of fact, how is it that you’re not listening to any music right now?”
“Well, damn girl. I was waiting for you to come over so that I could be a gentleman and let you pick. But, we can forget that at this point. Hey Alexa, play “Piercing my Thoughts” playlist.”
The opening to one of Jayden’s favorite 70s songs flooded his living room. Surround sound. Jayden could not keep the smile off her face as she sat up in his lap and created a little more friction between the two of them.
“Bold. You are bold sir,” she laughed as she leaned her head down to kiss this man beneath her while Al Green serenaded their adventure.

Do you want to make it better?
Do you want to stay together?
If you do
Then let's please
Make some new
Memories
Jayden woke up..satiated. She continued to lay there until she gathered her thoughts. Anderson Paak and Smokey Robinson were asking her questions. She was no longer in her skirt but now a large Black Plaid Ombre Shirt that could stand to have a lot more buttons used. She sat up to fix this and searched for her handbag. Spotting it in one of the kitchen chairs, she walked over opening the bag to grab the pair of underwear she hadn’t worn when she’d shown up. Trevor may be comfortable with the nudist thing but she wasn’t at that level yet.
But you at the level to fuck within the first fifteen minutes, Jayde? Asked her subconscious. Jayden retreated from the kitchen in search of the bathroom. She probably should have made this man give her a full tour of his place before she decided to climb him. But, hey. She was here now. She walked to the right of the kitchen already knowing that the living room was to the left. She came upon the dining room and briefly admired his decor.
This man has good taste. And not just in women.
The backyard was just off of this room and when she walked over the sliding door and took a glance outside, she saw a pool, a lounging area with a tv and a fire pit  and.. a dog house. It looked empty.
“I haven’t seen any dogs” she pondered aloud.
“That’s because he’s at the groomers.” answered her from directly behind where she stood and Jayden damn near jumped out of her skin . Trevor, walked up behind her snaking an arm around his flannel that was draping across her body. He watched his backyard with his chin resting on her head. “How was your nap?” he asked.
“Good. Thanks for the shirt by the way. How long was I out?”
“Barely 20 minutes. You should have drank some coffee. I guess you were tired,” she didn’t need to look at him. She could hear the pride and the smile in his voice. Jayden exhaled loudly to cover up her smile and the fact that she was heavily inhaling his scent.
“You stay with the jokes,”
“You stay feelin it too.” he countered and licked a long strip on her cheek.
“OH MY GAWD! Where’s your restroom anyway?” she feened an eye roll. She was trying not to get too caught up over the fact that she was standing in this man’s shirt with nothing else on.
“There’s one right off of the front door.” She turned around fully facing him, in all of his nude glory. She quickly looked away and made a beeline for the restroom.
When she was done freshening up, she found him in the living room again writing in a notepad as a Dan + Shay ballad caused him to drum his left hand to the rhythm of the song.
“Tequila?” she mused? “This has been piercing your thoughts?” she inquired.
“Nah. That playlist is still a work in progress. I’m still tryna figure out some stuff. You ready for the rest of the tour? I just set the oven to pre-heat.
“Sure. But we’re not gone glance over the fact that you have a whole playlist inspired by me.”
“No. We not. Plus, we’re gonna talk about how you got one for me too. I follow you on Spotify ya know.” Jayden wasn’t trying to concede to anything. So, she switched it up.
“I see we’ve returned to the joggers.” She spoke as he stood from the couch.
“I want you to be comfortable when you with me. I know that you’re not about that nudist life yet. I peeped how quickly you made your way to the bathroom. Stick around me long enough and we can change that,” he took her hand and guided her through his home. Jayden adored how often his corny humor peaked out while he told her short stories about random furniture and events that had occurred in his home. He lent her a pair of his boxers too. By the time they made it back to the kitchen they were ready to get to preppin their dinner.
“What’s on the menu for tonight Chef Jackson?”
“Shrimp Fajitas. I already deveined the shrimp before you got here,”
“Oh, okay. A true gentleman I see.”
“So, we got some bell peppers that need some slicin if you want to get started on that and I’ll worry about seasonin the meat.”
“Aye aye Cap’n.” she mock saluted. They settled themselves into their roles at the countertop. Working side by side was exactly what Jayden wanted. She could steal glances without openly gawking at the specimen of man he was.
“So, about your playlist..” he opened
“What about it?” Jayden asked.
“What do you think? About the music I mean. I saw you put damn near every song I ever released in a playlist,”
“Woww. We are out here lurkin lurkin in these streets.”
“Says the girl who downloaded my whole discography. What better way to know someone than through their taste in music? So, what’d you learn about me?”
“Well, from the way you’ve been blowin up my DMs and some of the songs I’ve heard, I’ve learned that you are definitely in a lane of your own.”
“Hmm. How’s that?” she had his interest peaked.
“I mean you’re an artist who has been in the game long enough to know the rules and you completely disregard them. Nigga,” she said shifting her body and the knife she was using to cut peppers in his direction,” while most artists are over here talking about Versace, Gucci, YSL and Louis, you are over here flexin in CROCS! CROCS, my nigga!” she cackled and glanced down at his feet in case they might manifest just because she mentioned it.
“You cute when you laugh,” he answered unafraid to openly admire her. “But, you look crazy wieldin that knife. Watch it J.”
She rolled her eyes. She had just discussed his music and he wasn’t even focused on that. Too busy complimentin her. So odd.
“Anyways, like I said you in your own lane. I can tell by the way you choose to direct your own videos as well. You have some out there concepts. Not Gaga meat dress out there. They’re simply abnormal to the culture, highly intellectual and yet it makes sense.” she continued.
“Oh, so we was peepin the videos too? How far down my rabbit hole did you go?
Shit.
“A saw a few videos. I mean you’re cool.” she shrugged. Trevor felt that she gave this off too breezily.
“Uh uh. That’s that hard Jayden. What else did you see?” he asked as he washed his hands free of the fresh lime, garlic, and seasonings he'd been working with. Jayden should have been watching him as he’d left his spot beside her. Maybe she would have seen the goofy Spongebob knowing smile he had plastered on his face as he toweled off his hands and made his way back to her from the other direction.
“I said what I said. You got some decent music videos. Moving on,” she started and that’s when he attacked. He grabbed her from behind, causing her to drop her knife and tickled her like she wasn’t in the middle of doing the task that he’d assigned her. She was squealing and thrashing. She was trying to be angry but she couldn’t help her body’s natural reaction to laugh.
‘I’m gonna pee my pants!” she screamed.
“Nope. you’re gonna pee my pants. You gone tell me the truth?” She said nothing and he refused to relent until she was real with him.
“OKAY. LEMME GO YOU BIG CHILD! I’LL TALK!” Trevor released her and waited for her to say what she was holding back.
“I may have binged watched both seasons of Grownish, Burning Sands, All American and alloftheDisneyshitthatyouhaveeverbeenin.” she threw that last part in so quickly he wasn’t certain when she’d come up for air again.
“In three weeks time? Oh shit. I got me a stalker.” Trevor joked. Jayden threw a bell pepper strip at him.
“I thought I was supposed to feel comfortable in your house.” she quipped.
“That’s exactly what I’d expect a stalker to say,” he countered back. She was still as he chortled. And then she lunged for him. She chased him around his kitchen for a good two minutes until Trevor gave up because he was laughing so much. When he came to an immediate hault, Jayden crashed directly into him.
“Ow!” she cried.
“Aye, if you were looking for a hug all you had to do was ask J” he said, enveloping her in a bear hug. She just smiled at this dude who three weeks ago she didn’t even know existed. Now, they’d swapped some music, some knowledge and saliva.
“Stop thinkin about time and just let it happen.” Trevor said.
“I don’t like how close you are to my thoughts. Please back up.”
“Look from jump street, we was feelin each other and this connection. Don’t worry about the timeline of it. I can see your wheels turning. We don’t live by anybody’s rules. Like you said, we know em and then we break em. But we still succeed,”
“That’s not quite what I said.”
“I’m paraphrasing. I don’t have the script in front of me.”
“Oh-kayyy. Can we please get this food in the oven? I’m hungry” Trevor looked her up and down. “Hakuna Matata J. We gone eat,” he said licking his lips.
The two of them got all of the food onto a sheet pan to cook and retired to the living with some wine.
“Okay, I know I’m supposed to be here to peep alllll 200 hundred of these new songs you got. But, I’m also interested in experiencing this speaker system you have here. Can we watch a Netflix show or something?”
“I always knew you had good taste for sound. Okay so I got Amazon Prime, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, Disney + and  I got a lot of new stuff thanks to SAG that hasn’t even hit the theatres yet. So, you can pick your poison.”
Jayden’s eyes widened at the array of selection he was offering. “You got exclusive content? Like what?”
“Well, I got this film with Issa Rae and Lakeith-”
“Say no more. We’re watching that one sir.”
“What about the plot? Or any of the other actors?”
“I’ll figure that out along the way. Plug it in! Plug it in!” she shimmied and sing-songed. The two enjoyed their dinner and film; but, most of all they enjoyed each other’s company. Trevor was amused at the small comments and natural responses Jayden had throughout the film and her review of the song choices was right in line with his own. However, the short debate that they had afterwards recapping the movie and Jayden’s disappointment for both Issa’s performance and the less engaging storyline that her character had in comparison to her mother’s was bynfar his favorite moment of the night. She was animated through and through. None of her hardness was at the forefront and although they hadn’t seen eye to eye on every facet of the film, the communication was healthy. They genuinely listened to one another, communicated and adapted their points for their side based on new information and perspectives presented and they were able to evolve the film discussion into some deeper intellectual ones where neither felt that they were restricted by the knowledge of the other to discuss these topics earnestly
"What's on your agenda for tomorrow?' Jayden asked as she nursed her third glass of wine sitting on top of Trevor’s freshly wiped down kitchen counter. Not only did this man have good taste in women, and home decor but he was intellectual, creative and cleanly?
TUH!
"Well, I was supposed to link up with this lil thang this weekend," Jayden balked contemplating if there was enough wine in her glass to toss at him, "and we were gonna listen to music-about 200 songs," Trevor saw her release her grip on the glass and relax, “but she turned out to be a stalker and we got a lil carried away on the couch,”
“You had sex with your stalker? That’s dangerous,”
“True. But now I know that she’s really feelin me and she won’t go anywhere else.”
“Aight, Imma head out” Jayden said, finishing her wine and hopping down from the counter.
“Yeah, right.” he said following her out of the kitchen and turning off the lights. “The only place you’re heading is to sleep,” Trevor said
Jayden yawned “I already took a nap. Not really that tired.”
“You’re a bad liar,” he said. “Let me help you out Sleeping Beauty,” Before Jayden knew it he she was being bridal carried up the stairs
“Left or right?”  he asked when she’d come out of the restroom.
“Which side do you sleep on? It’s your bed.”
“I gotta be appeasing stalkers. I never know what they gone do next,” Jayden climbed into the middle of the bed out of spite.
Trevor crawled in behind her and pulled her closer. “You’re really never gonna let that go are you?”
Trevor held on a little tighter. “Nah”.

“How in the world did this nigga get promoted to Dean of Students? He’s a fake doctor, has no basis for his so called curriculum and his overall intelligence is highly suspect.” Nia asked as she adjusted her eyes away from the tv and to her boyfriend. They were chilling on the couch watching the second season of Grownish. Well, Nia was watching it. Erik was.. somewhere else as he gazed at her without quite seeing her.
She stared at him openly watching him gaze off into the distance. Nia placed her hand on Erik’s arm and pinched him gently through his expansive muscles “What are you thinkin babe?”
“Nuthin” Erik responds almost as a reflex. His eyes lose their haze and he averts them back to the television to see Zoey delivering yet another monologue and awkwardly reuniting with Aaron. Nia doesn’t believe him. She just looks at him looking at the tv. She ponders whether she should push it or just let it be.
“You always let it be,” her inner voice told her. She contemplated all the times he’s responded with “Nuthin” in response to the inner workings of his mind and she had to wonder whether or not Erik has ever truly allowed her in, if he trust her or if this is just a dance that they will be doing without ever having any concrete answers. With these thoughts on her mind, Nia decides that he isn’t the only one who may need some space for their thoughts and moves to get up while asking  Erik, “Do you want anything to drink?”
At her voice, Erik stirs and he knows he fucked up. He did this. He looks up at her, genuinely seeing her and taking into account the mood change he caused. In an instant he locks his arm around her waist pinning her back down onto the couch. “Ay don’t do that,” he chides as he uses his thumb to rub her side. He could never get enough of how fluffy and soft she was. His hands never ceased to explore her body once the initial contact was made. However, his exploration was short lived as he realized that this wasn’t someting that physical touch could get him out of this time. He can see the cogs working in her brain. She was thinking in hyperspeed but she’d refrained from speaking for now. She was really trying with him and Erik decided it was time for him to do so too.
Dumbfounded to the nth degree, Nia just glares at him as he remains quiet before her. “He’s gonna tell me not to do this? If he was the King of anything, it would be “Shutting Down & Keeping People Out” she thought. Erik sighs in exasperation. Not at Nia. But with the situation arising as it did. He can tell that she wasn’t going to shake this this time and if he was being real, he knew that she shouldn’t have to. “Look, I” he begins, “I don’t say what’s on my mind quite as much as you’d like me to. I’ve been hearing that shit my whole life, I promise, it ain’t just you.” Nia waits to let him continue because there had to be more. Erik shifts and faces her now softened glare head on. “But I fucks wit you. I don’t want you out here being insecure about my feelings for you. You,” he stops o clear his throat, “you’re one of the few things that I’m sure of aite?”
Nia is stricken by his confession. But she wanted to test it to make sure she wasn’t being persuaded with words rather than action. “Well… what were you thinking?” Nia’s hushed voice comes out as she tries again. He smirks.  “Come closer”. She submitted per usual snuggling closer to look up at her man.
“One year ago today was the first day that I saw you,”. Erik watched as confusion flooded Nia’s face and her argumentative side won out the emotions she was racing through that evening. Erik watched as she lifted herself out of his embrace, only slightly, so she could correct him. “Nuh uh. We met at last year’s Halloween party boo. You ain’t remember? I went as Diana Ross? You was on some bullshit talkin bout your costume was the same all year round ‘A Real Nigga’” she rolled her eyes and snickered remembering the dumbass line that he’d fed her with full confidence.
“First of all,” Erik states lifting his index finger to count off all the things flawed in her comments, “fix your eyes lil girl unless you ready to get them stuck.” He brings his middle finger to join his index, “Second, I was looking good as fuck that night and you know it. Third, that was the first time I approached you but not the first time I met you.” Erik put down his fingers as he continued.  “You was wearing those black high waisted ripped jeans and cropped blue tee that said ‘Beyonce has been Crazy in Love, Dangerously in Love & Drunk in Love’ all across ya chest just askin a nigga to look.” Your eyes went wide with recollection. That used to be one of your favorite shirts a while back ago before bleach got spilt on it and it was ruined.
“And in the bottom corner it said, ‘I can’t even find someone I like,’  and all I could think was “Challenge Accepted.” To be honest, I feelin you from jump, you was looking sexy but also I saw how you were selective about who you was showin your attention to and you weren’t paying attention to anyone based on pockets. I was feeling you and I knew that give the chance, you’d reciprocate.”
“Hol Up Casanova! When was this?” Nia asked trying to curb his ego that was coming in real strong right about now.
“When we went to Saxe’s to celebrate Rico’s birthday” he responded.
“Niggaaaaaa. That was a whole ass 3 months before we even spoke! What took you so long?”
“I mean I was still fuckin on Inayah crazy ass,” at this Nia rolled her eyes, “and I ain’t bout the drama. You know this. Then you were never around. But, the next time I had my opportunity, you know a nigga shot the shot.”
“So you were thinking about me just now?”
“Yeah.” He smiles. “ I was thinking about how stupid I was to wait 3 months. I got a lot of dreams ya know? I’m a driven nigga. I work hard; but my running internal dialogue is more…questions than answers. But you?” he scoffs shaking his head, “you was never one of the questions. Of the life I see for my future, of all the shit that I dream about, you’re what’s already here. You’re one of the few things I know already I could build my world of.”

Part 1 | Part 2
____________________________________________________
“I'm a California nigga and I'm heavy in the streets
.22 or .23, I'm heavy with the heat
Hit you with this chop, paramedics can't save you (can't save you)
Really in field c'mon boy, know that ain't you (no, it ain't you)
2018 hell nah, I ain't gon fade you, gon' paint you
TDE and SOB we can't lose”
Erik rapped along as he swerved down Pico, bobbin his head in rhythm to the lyrics. His windows were down and his music was loud causing his whole car to vibrate- just the way he liked it. Seemingly out of nowhere everyone was slowing down. He glanced out his window wondering which idiot was causing a traffic jam. He saw a few palm trees swaying and pedestrians running in a frenzy. At that moment, a  news alert popped up on his screen in his Tesla 3 indicating that California was being impacted by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake.  As traffic came to a full stop,  Erik felt the rolling of the ground beneath him. He switched from his Bluetooth to the radio in favor of hearing about the earthquake that had everyone running for cover.  He listened as Bootleg Kev read a report describing the earthquake which had lasted for a full 2 minutes and 47 seconds. He wasn’t certain when he’d stopped listening but he was soon allowing his thoughts to be steeped in memories of Nia. He remembered how much she hated earthquakes, always remarking that “THE PLATES WERE SHIFTING!” and it constantly made him chuckle. He’d always try to hide his amusement long enough to get her to calm down. But he knew she knew he was always laughing at her. But it was always okay with her; because he loved her. He sighed thinking of how Nia never liked to admit that she was scared whenever an earthquake happened- always trying to be strong. Yet the way that she burrowed herself beneath him was an indication, that she was scared. He missed that. He missed her. At the next light, much like in life, he took a left.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Fuck you San Andreas! ” Nia screamed as she turned off her shower. The shampoo, conditioner, and body washes were all falling to the floor and it was making her heart rate spike. She tried to focus on her breathing as she stepped out of the shower to towel off. She heard a fire truck passing by in the distance and she recalled the last time a quake occurred.
“THE FUCKING PLATES ARE SHIFTING!” she screamed as she stumbled into her apartment from a night out drinking with Erik and her friends. He trailed behind her as the two of them took the state of her apartment into account. Shit was oscillating back and forth, some knick knacks were falling over on the coffee and dining room tables. She was visibly perturbed and she was trying hard not to be so she could save face. He was chuckling and reading her like a book. He could always see her so openly. With no hesitation Erik went over to her dining room table and in one full swoop sent everything to the ground.
“ERIK! Are you fucking crazy?” Nia asked turning to him and staring at him as if he was a mad man,  “Why are you makin a bigger mess?” He turned back to face her and curled his index finger towards himself beckoning you forward ‘Come ere” he said in his signature low and gravelly voice. As always, she submitted. She was irritated and still a bit shaken up, but she couldn’t dispute the new feeling of intrigue she was filled with as she approached him. As soon as she was in front of him, he lifted her from the shifting ground and placed her on the empty table. He bent down to meet her lips and enveloped them with his own. He fully gave himself to her. He was committed to meeting her every desire, and boy was he successful. She melted at his touch and when he finally pulled away, she couldn’t bring herself to expand her hooded eyes. “You still scared?” he asked at her ear. Having completely forgotten the earthquake, all she could do was shake her head. The earth may have stopped rolling but her body was still experiencing the sensations of the force only known as Erik. They’d spent the rest of the evening creating a few aftershocks of their own and the next morning by the time she was awake, everything had found it way back to its place.
“If only we could,” Nia stated. She’d absent mindly gotten dressed and cleaned her bathroom as she recalled that evening and the fact that she hadn’t seen Erik in a year at this point.  She continued on throughout her home picking up all items that had made their way to the floor and placing them back where they belonged.  Returning  the salt and pepper shakers to her dining table last, a sad smile upon her face as her hand ran across the surface of the table and memories flooded her senses once again. Turning on the tv to ABC7 News she curled up under a blanket and braced herself for the impending aftershocks- hoping this wouldn’t delay the pizza she’d ordered before hopping in the shower.
Knock.
Knock.
Knock
Came just seven minutes later. “That wasn’t too bad,” Nia thought glancing at her clock and reaching for her wallet. She opened her door with her head buried in her wallet trying to pull out enough bills to pay the pizza delivery person and give a decent tip. “It was 12.97, right?” she pondered glancing up with a ten, a five and a few ones between her finger tips. She came to a full stop, mouth perched open in a perfectly shaped “o” wondering if she’d fallen asleep while in front of the tv. “Am I dreaming?” she whispered.
“Nah princess,” Erik responded with a slight smirk.  Of course, as if Nia wasn’t already taken aback at that very moment it happened again; an aftershock. Fear crept up her throat and she was no longer frozen from shock but was now  frozen by her fear. Erik stepped closer to embrace her and shield her from her own fear, until he came toe to toe with the threshold of her front door. Arms stretched out he stared into Nia’s eyes, asking without speaking if this is what she wanted. With the world ending around her, Nia could think of no one else she would want to be with in the moment. She nodded and allowed herself to burrow into Erik’s comfort once again.

Same Room (JP3 Part 2)
Tumblr media
A/N: Hello boos! Here’s part 2 of The JP3 series. Again, this is based on a song that I enjoy by JP Saxe which you can find here. Idk what to say except for... sorry in advance.
A MILLION THANKS TO @glittermakesmesmile because she’s a whole gem!
_________________________________
“Aww man, I forget about this day” Nia thought as she paused her swiping. She sat on the floor of her bedroom with her head laying back on her bed. A sad smile inhabited her features as she reminisced on the impromptu beach date she and Erik had on a midsummer July day. He’d decided to call out of work and give himself a three day weekend to spend more time with her in anticipation of being apart for an entire week as she was going on her annual Girls Trip the following Monday.
“The Ted Talk said don’t do this Nia,” she groaned aloud. If her friends knew what she was doing, they would confiscate her whole ass phone in a heartbeat.  Thank goodness her secret album of all of their photos was password protected and unable to be located due to a newly downloaded app. Her friends had helped her get rid of all of his things once the split happened. His boxers, date night movie stubs, old museum tickets, the pine cone that she scooped up after their first picnic, it was all gone. The jewelry she kept. Her friends were trying to help her cope but they weren’t stupid. They told her to pawn it but it still sat stashed in the back of her closet.. along with her favorite sweatshirt of his. It was all she had left. Well, that and the photos.
They didn’t do him justice. She should know. She’d just seen him that night for the first time in a month. She knew he was going to be at the concert tonight. Hell, they’d bought the tickets together under the assumption that they’d be going to the concert the same way. She didn’t expect to turn around and see him in the VIP looking good as hell though. She loved to be up front and as close to the artist as possible so she always went for General Admission.
“I wonder if it was his idea,” Nia thought contemplating his upgrade from GA to VIP. “Was it because of me?”
Based on her first glance, he and his friends were there for more than just the music. She’d continued to steal a few more glances at him throughout the night as he sat on the slightly raised platform with the small tables and scantily clad bottle service girls hanging around like pretty decorations. She wasn’t the only one looking as she noticed Erik was checking her and her girls playing it off as if he was genuinely interested in the DJ that was getting the crowd ready. They both pretended they didn’t see each other lookin-especially for the sake of their friends, who were doing their parts to establish barriers between she and Erik. Her friends went as far as to escort her to the bathroom, so that her path wouldn’t intersect with his and spawn an awkward conversation. It wasn’t even the awkwardness that Nia was worried about, just the thought of, “Hey, how are you?” simply hurt too much. It was all too fresh for her.
She thought back to when that guy had approached her between the opener’s set and the headliner’s. Paul was his name. He was cute and he’d done such a great job of shooting his shot that she couldn’t help but laugh at all that he’d said. But even as he smiled down at her saying all the right things, all she could think about was Erik. Was he watching her? What were his thoughts? Was he jealous? Was he happy for her for moving on? Is this still what he wanted? As she’d let Paul down easy, she had looked back and found one of those bottle girls perched on his knee but his gaze was looking past her to Nia.
Thankfully, the show began and she was able to get swept up in the performance. Afterwards, her bodyguards had gotten her out to the parking lot and were plottin on where to eat, but she wasn’t feeling it. So instead she came back home, warmed up some leftover pasta, and had been sitting on her phone scrolling through the memories ever since. She wanted so desperately to text him. Better yet, to call him and hear his voice again. But they’d both decided that this was the best thing to do.
She paused coming upon a photo she’d taken of him in Livraria Lello. She reflected upon when his work had taken him out of California  for almost a month, as he trekked to various states and eventually across continents. On his final leg of travel, he’d FaceTimed her and asked her to come meet him before he came back home. There’d been no hesitation, no thought of saying no. She’d simply called out sick for work the next day and caught her flight to Portugal the same evening. They’d spent the weekend laid up together, sightseeing in between his final meetings. It was one of the first times they’d travelled together and everything was perfect. They were inseparable.
“I guess that was the problem,” she thought.
“Now we can’t even be in the same room.” she spoke aloud closing the app and her eyes as well.
