For this year's Global Game Jam, I decided "Hey why don't I solo dev an entire visual novel in Renpy with absolutely 0 prior knowledge in coding?"
And so I did! Presenting A Pound of Flesh (part 1), a short vn where you play as Agatha, a girl who begins working at a quaint butcher shop.
It's around 20 mins play time, and if there's interest I'll most likely add on more sections as well! Right now you can only play up to the end of week 1 because I only had 36-ish hours to code and draw the entire thing. Let me know what you guys think if you play it!
Play as Charles the clown as you go on a blind date for the first time in what seems like forever. You’ve been so focused on being a clown that maybe socializing and social cues may not be as easy as you remember. Charm your date, spend quality time with your dog, and try not to honk it up as you make your way through this circus of a show! 🎺🎪
That's a wrap on another Global Game Jam! The theme was "Make me laugh", so Doug and I embraced the silliness with this one.

Play with a friend, chuck stuff on your jousting lance and make the king laugh. You can check what stuff he finds funny by showing items to him. Also, you can steal stuff from your opponent's lance or get in their way, throw stuff around and other shenanigans.
Then joust and see whose won the king's favour!

I leant hard into the PS1/N64 style graphics on this one! The music was stupid fun to make as well (we went with the mouth noises diversifier, so I had to sing the music, lol, feel I should apologise in advance).
Oh! ...and credits:
Doug: Coding, voice for the king & sfx
Me: Art, animation, level building, music
Still amazed there was just enough time for us to get some cinematics in there for the joust sequence, but I'm so glad we did! ...and the corgi, because there's always got to be a corgi.
(also kinda thinking about doing a post on the weird game projects Doug and I have made over the years?)
(or just like, here are all the corgi cameos?)
Something about professing your love to a dying star is incredibly romantic.
Dante is a werewolf who has tragically broken up with the Moon. In his sorrow, he wakes up in an Italian restaurant, back in his human form. Here, he falls in love with the radiant light of the Sun, whose smile shines bright on the restaurant's slideshow.
Made for the Global Game Jam 2024, with the theme of "Make Me Laugh."
I forgot to post about the result of my recent Global Game Jam adventure, but here it is! Enjoy atmospheric soundtracks, damp caves full of oversized pottery, and dissociating with anxiety? Here’s the game for you.
i recruited a few pals, @skuitti among them, to join me in the finnish game jam this weekend and this is what we made. try it in the link above!!!
in the game you are a mushroom guy who has to keep the local microecosystem functioning by assigning smaller mushroom guys to tasks in order to connect the roots of the nearby trees
wasd to move, click on the store page to buy more little helper guys, click on the icons that appear around the map to assign your guys to the tasks. you get hp and nutrience points when you finish a task. hp goes down every second there is an unattended task. play in fullscreen mode, since the UI doesn’t scale
It's a short arcade game about hosting the best hot tub party for your friends (who are all root vegetables).
The root of a good party is a good host: keep the tub toasty and clean, get the drinks and d'oeuvres flowing, and satisfy your steamy guests in this rootin tootin party panic! Just keep an eye on your InstaYam or your bustling buds buzz'll be busted...
I made a lil' something for last weekend's Global Game Jam with @commandercorgi4 🦨 (lead SFX) & @ratlawd 🐀 (lead music)!
You must defeat the Evil Dr. Lingo (Linguistics PhD)!
Check it out here: https://camden-png.itch.io/bad-libs! ❤️
This weekend has been the GGJ24 and I went to a presential site for the weekend.
Here is the game if you want to check it out:
It's a cute local co-op game about two frog jesters who have to make their king laugh by playing instruments while they are chained. Both players have to use the same controller and coordinate to perform well.
Devlog / Idk I just want to share my experience
The game has some bugs that make it impossible to play well after the first game, so you have to close and open. We couldn't polish it as much as we would have liked but I had a ton of fun and I learnt a lot.
I went as a 3D and Tech artist, and I loved doing that part. I loved making the cute little frog (it also has a cute ass). And I enjoyed a lot making the shaders and particles for the game.
We had to change the main mechanic mid jam. Originally, you had to hold a sitck with fire, and throw it it the right moment so you don't burn, but it was being a bit complicated to make in engine, so we dithed it and added a falling bird. That's why the game feels a bit empty. Maybe if we have time we can add something to round it up a little bit (that's what every person that finishes a jam says but never does. But who knows, the game I'm going to publish came from the last edition of this jam).
Anyway, the weekend was great, I had fun and talked to a lot of great people. Now time to go back to studying and working on Mycelium Heaven.
A week... or two... ago, was the Global Game Jam of 2023. The theme was ‘Roots.’ In my typical fashion, although I began the jam by brainstorming with friends, I quickly latched on to an idea and shot off on my own to make a narrative game about it. The result has now been uploaded to itch io for anyone to play, for free, in browser, no download or installation required: https://inverts.itch.io/ground-down
This game, Ground Down, is a text based interactive fiction that I made using Twine. In the game, you are a farmer, and you are faced with your declining dental health, predatory neighbors trying to buy your farm out from under you, and idiot workers who refuse to listen to basic safety precautions. It is a horror story, a slow march toward a single, inevitable conclusion, told in second person.
There is a full list of content warnings both on the itch io page as well as within the game itself. I’ll say outright that if stuff about teeth is really upsetting for you, then you may want to skip this one. But if all the above sounds intriguing to you, then please check it out!
Did all the art for a Global Game Jam project!
The dolphin is following your mouse and you're leading it into the hoops. If you're missing the hoops, the audience will rage, and if you're jumping through them they'll be happy. When they're happy enough, you win.
Ever wanted to try your hand at giving an evil monologue at your captured nemesis before feeding him to your pet sharks? Boy, have we got a game for you! Featuring unrepentant puns and shark karaoke!
